For easy access, (abridged) definitions for each Mod position will be listed as follows:

1. Art Mod

The Art Mod is expected to review and assist artist contributors in the creation of their pieces. This can include giving feedback, as well as more casual engagement with artists

2. Graphics / Formatting Mod

You will be expected to create graphics for the zine to use on social media, as well as the final template and overall design for the zine (book) itself.

For this role, previous mod experience / (graphic design) related experience is required.

3. Finance Mod

The Finance Mod will be expected to find and work with suppliers for the zine and keep a neat, organised spreadsheet declaring all the finances to the other Mods. You will be in charge of the zine's Paypal.

Previous Mod or related experience is required.

4. Shipping Mod

The role of the Shipping Mod will very much be in conjunction with that of the Finance Mod to ensure that shipping costs are covered (based on bundle types and package weights).

The Shipping Mod will be expected to receive all items ordered by the Finance Mod, and will be responsible for packaging orders in accordance with the types of bundle order that are received. The bundles are expected to be packaged to ensure they will arrive safely.

Previous Mod or related experience is required.

bare with me as it's been a while since i did something like this, but it's that time of the year where i'm itching to write, develop and world-build and there's no better place sometimes to do that then in a group verse.

that said, there are a couple of rules. pretty self explanatory of course but if anyone has any questions, feel free to message me!

no god modding.

ic interactions do not equal ooc. if something happens in character, it is important to remember that it is not personal nor directed at the mun, it is the reaction of the muse only.

inclusivity is important. no one should feel left out. this is a group effort.

that being said, just because something is plotted does not mean it is set in stone. sometimes chemistry happens between muses when you least expect it and everyone should be able to explore connections without feeling tied down / fear of upsetting someone.

try not to bubble rp. we understand that our muse can fluctuate and be stronger for one connection over another sometimes. sometimes, you feel like writing one muse over another, but please use your best judgement and be open to others.

life can get busy, but please don't join if you don't think you can be on at least 2 days out of the week. in order for a group to thrive, the group needs to be active.

general plot: the verse is set in the south of france. bennett is a renowned hotel that doubles as a sex club called toujours.

the feds have been tipped off for corruption and are now keeping a close eye -- curious about what could be going on behind closed doors at the hotel. so be careful, not everyone is your friend and not everyone knows how to keep a secret.

the hotel is an infamous spot where the 1% come to visit -- whether to have lunch, use the pool, or grab a couple of drinks at the rooftop. they could be a guest of the hotel, work for the hotel, or work for the club. they could also be a member of the club. the options are endless!

Today is a busy day, Gravity Falls fans! Not only is the interest check closed today (check out the post here), but we're also here to announce that Mod Applications open in two days!

That's right, on March 10 you (yes you!) can apply to join the Mod Team. We would love to have a Formatting Mod, an Organisation Mod, a Co-Finance Mod, and Mods who give feedback with Art, Writing, and Merch! Some of these will require prior experience, but some may not, so please apply if any catch your eye (Soos wanted that to rhyme, and you do not want to let him down)! We will post the link to the applications on this blog and on Twitter, so everyone can have access to the link.

One more thing- the Mod Apps are only open for one week, so be sure to mark your calendars!

Examples of Mod Responsibilities:

All Mods -Actively participate in zine discussions -Consistent communication with fellow mod team -Support fellow mods as needed -Help answer contributor questions related to your role(s)

Finances- MUST be 20+ years old and have a reference from another zine/project due to recent issues with finance mods in other zines. -Check over our current calculations for costs -Assist in managing the finances (we have manufacturers and a budget plan but we could do with someone to keep an eye on this).

Organisation -Keep track of the zine checklist (provided, although you can edit or add to it!) and schedule -Make sure participants are handing in their Check-Ins and follow up with them if they do not -Ensure other Mods are fulfilling their responsibilities. (And help them figure out a plan if they are struggling)!

Communications - Keep an eye on emails and our Retrospring -Ensure smooth conversation between buyers and mods -Main point of contact between mods and participants

Formatting Mod (super important!!): -Assemble the digital and physical zines according to the theme and manufacturer requirements, using the given fonts and artwork -Needs experience with zine formatting and Adobe InDesign or an equivalent program

Additional optional responsibilities (to go with one of the above roles): Art Feedback -Give feedback (if requested) to artists after each check-in -Needs a good understanding of anatomy, composition, etc

Writing Feedback -Give feedback to writers (if requested) after each check-in -Needs a good understanding of grammar.

Merch Feedback -Give feedback to merch artists (if requested) after each check-in -Needs a good understanding of formatting requirements

All mods will be given access to the Google Account and our Notion which has a beautiful calendar with all major events for their whole zine and then sections filtered by their roles listed in it.

This is another personal post with TW mental illness. I'm sorry there have been so many recently. I really have nowhere else to put these things. Feel free to ignore.

I don't think my depression has ever been this bad before, in the almost 13 years I've had it. For maybe the past two months it's been steadily growing to a point of intensity that I can't ignore. The absolutely awful feelings won't go away. I can't stop thinking about how miserable I feel.

I can barely take care of myself. I eat takeout every day. There's garbage everywhere at my house. I can't get shit done at work and at some point people are going to notice. I have multiple really REALLY urgent doctor's appointments/calls I HAVE to make (one of which is to my psychiatrist who apparently I'm blocked from messaging on the healthcare app), yet I can't seem to pick up the phone. I am mentally incapable somehow. There's a wall there.

I have been told to exercise and meditate and I physically and mentally cannot. Again, there is a wall.

I have a video game I wanted to play, I try to play it, and I feel completely unattached to it (even though I have loved it in the past). I joined a really exclusive roleplay community for that game and proceeded to be too overwhelmed to make the character application and now the mods are asking me what I want to do. I haven't written fanfiction in two months because of severe burnout, and I miss it so desperately that it's making me realize I might have been using it as a bandaid/distraction. But my brain is so fried that I feel too overwhelmed to write again. People are leaving me nice comments on my fics and I can't even bring myself to read them let alone respond to them. My memory is so bad that I can't remember a lot of what happens in any of my fave series' and I feel like creating good fan content for those things is impossible at this point.

I'm ignoring online friends in my favorite server. I promised multiple IRL friends I would watch animes they like and I am feeling guilty that I mentally cannot do that. I'm dreading the two anime cons I have coming up in March because I don't think I'm going to feel comfortable in my cosplay this year. I have a close friend (who is also my coworker) who keeps trying to get me to do things with her and her husband and I keep turning them down because I'm worried I'll get overwhelmed by social anxiety and general awkwardness. Just the thought of having awkward social interactions is terrifying me and pushing me down harder than it ever has.

I had a boyfriend between October 2022 and December 2023, but I felt like it was a huge chore every time I had to see him and I developed zero feelings for him. I felt repulsed by the thought of us being romantic. We ghosted each other in December and now I feel like shit about it because he may have been the only chance I'll ever have at a relationship... but I also am in such a bad state that it's probably good things are over. Why don't I feel relieved?

I'm having physical tics in my abdomen and jaw that are getting worse and worse to the point of pain and people noticing. I can't talk to literally anyone without sounding upset, negative, angry. I had my best friends from out of state over a few weekends ago and I was so sick the whole time, I felt like I was letting them down. I've been repeating awkward interactions with friends and coworkers over and over in my head to the point where I think about it at night.

I haven't put my Christmas decorations away because I fucking CAN'T.

This week has been particularly bad. Yesterday I was working from home because of snow. When the snow stopped I rushed to my parents' house because I needed to be somewhere with people I know. But I was so negative in how I spoke with them, and it's making me feel even worse. I used to be really talkative and intelligent when having conversations with my family, but depression has taken that away from me pretty badly over the years, to the point where I can barely talk without thinking about how absolutely dreadful I am at conversation.

But today might be the worst of it (unrelated to Valentine's Day, though it certainly isn't helping). It pained me emotionally and physically to get out of bed, and I wanted to take a mental health day. Literally fell back asleep for an hour before I had to get up and DREAMT about taking a mental health day. But being alone at home is actually so much worse than being at work where there are at least people I am comfortable with. So I went in. I have been absolutely bombarded with depressed feelings all day though. I get up to walk down the hall to the bathroom and somehow that feels worse than sitting and staring at my computer without accomplishing anything. I'm sitting here crying at work, completely destroying the four months of tally marks I had for 'days without crying at work'. I didn't break my record, sadly.

I have a therapist. I have an appointment with her today actually. Maybe I'll just read all of this to her. I don't know where it's going to lead or what she's going to tell me to do, but all I want is to walk down the hall to the bathroom and have at least average, neutral emotions instead of carrying a chest full of raging depression. I want to be able to say something happy to someone so that they don't dump me as a friend for being toxically negative. I want to live, and I have things to live for. But damn if this depression isn't making it extremely difficult to enjoy those things.

The last three weeks have been unprecedented. We went into a lockdown that we intended to run for 48 hours with the expectation that reddit would do literally anything other than what actually happened. Between the two active moderators who run this subreddit, we’ve both decided to leave. That time some guy tried to sue a teenager over lord of the rings rp

This got like really long so it put it under a cut so you guys don't have to have this long ass post on the dash. This story time was sponsored by the good people over at @radioactive-earthshine

Gather around children, I'm about to tell you a story about not the most unhinged person I have ever met through roleplay. So this happened about 10 years ago I like many many unpopular teenagers enjoyed writing and doing rp on this hellsite. 2012 is a wild time because I'm a lil bitch that loved lord of the rings and those new hobbit movies were out making lortr cool again to interact with in fandom. I've been doing roleplay online for a very long time it's just a little hobby I have. So naturally in 2013 I joined this weird hobbit rp group.

I had just come out of another group and was looking for something that was a little different but still kind of related to the whole Tolkien thing. I found a 16+ group, it was hobbit based, not open yet and it was a modern au (it was a whole crime family thing, not really my thing but I decided to give it ago) and so I sent my application in for my character just before the deadline and I found myself in a mixed group of teenagers and adults. Mostly adults though.

So the structure of the group was we did dash rp, and had an out of character group chat in skype where we could touch base and talk about what was going on in the group.

The group was run by three mods. Let's call them Gemma, Kenny and Terry. They were all adults, around 21ish. I think I was the youngest person in the group at 16 going on 17. We rp for a bit and things are fine? There's the usual RP drama but nothing scandalous except for Gemma and Kenny doing really explicit puppy play kink just on the dash in front of everyone. That should have been my first red flag honestly but you know as a child with unsupervised internet access (which was the style at the time) honestly I had seen worse and didn't understand how they found this sexy (I actually still don't really understand it ngl I'm not kink shaming or anything you do you I'll just look away this is a me issue) Then out of nowhere a member let's call her Maria leaves the group and Maria posts a very long post about the group.

This is the link in Maria's post. Looking back on this now ten years later I think this person was Terry one of the admins.

This is red flag number 2 again I'm stupid and 16 so I should have jumped ship but I didn't. The group chat is frankly confused. She ends her time in the group by reblogging "So long and thanks for all the fish"

Now Terry was never really an active mod and he actually dropped off the face of the earth three days after the group opened. I don't know what happened behind closed doors but Kerry and Gemma claimed that Terry just didn't want to be involved in the group anymore. Terry played kind of a very important character one of the leaders of the families that my character was in so it left plotting really up in the air when it came to uhhh what do we even do?? But the Remaining two Admins appointed Kerry cocksucker and long term friend "Cap" admin in Terry's place. After a week or two of complaining that hey our groups leader is AWOL we need this character back, the Admin team were like "haha don't even worry guys we'll open applications for the big cheese and pick one in a week." So the week passes and a new person gets picked to play this big cheese character I can't remember who this person was called but let's call her Lydia. So Lydia, joins the group chat and she's rarely seen online. This is red flag number three.

Another group member let's call her Jenny puts me, her rp buddies and a few other group members that aren't the admin team in to a big group chat on skype. She has become buddy buddy with the admin crew and was put in to their super secret super private group chat on whats app and it turns out... there is no Lydia. Kerry is Lydia because the only people who had applied for The Big Cheese was current group members and he hated ALLL of us to the point where he and his admin team had black listed all of our blogs names on the dash so they didn't have to see us rp their characters "wrong" but they especially hated Mimi who played a very minor character in the whole group. They couldn't stand her or her character and they were talking shit about every single member of the group in this group chat. So everyone is rightfully pissed. Not only was he talking shit about us but he was talking shit about Mimi! And we did not stand for Mimi slander. So we hatched a plan. A big, Fuck you guys and your shitty kink on our dash! plan. It was very simple. We would rp as normal for the next week and then on monday we would post "So long and thanks for all the fish icb you did this to us post and we would reblog Maria's original so long post and we would all leave, take the characters we were playing and just write them separately on tumblr as indie blogs where we would just rp with ourselves.

Honestly Kerry was shook apparently this mass exodus of users traumatized him (as if he didn't traumatize us enough on the dash with his puppy play threads with Gemma) I don't have a screen shot of this again it was ten years ago and Kerry has deleted all but one of the posts he made about the situation on the rp hub but he went off about how he was going to sue us for "stealing" his characters once he figured out that we were just doing indie rps by ourselves. Please keep in mind that these are lord of the rings characters in a very generic crime family AU setting. There's nothing original about them. Any oc that was "stolen" from the original bios honestly at the point of 6 months of rp was so far removed from what was in the original bio I wouldn't claim they were his property anymore.

He tried to revamp the group but honestly i think we took the drive and the energy out of him. They hated Mimi and her character so much that in the shortlived revamp they actually killed off her character in the rp lore, talk about petty.

He send us asks and dms on skype for a little bit threatening to sue us but he stopped when none of us like replied to him.

A year later Maria must have found out what happened and made a post about it. Perhaps Kerry was still ranting and raving about how we stole his rp.

Anyway I hope you enjoyed this long weird hellsite rp drama tale if you managed to make it to the end. I know it was pretty long but this is the condensed version of the 6 months that this rp ran.
