: ̗̀➛ Mariko has a bit of a dark vibe going on. With her past as a government weapon and her connection to Kurogami, she often seems serious and deep in thought. People might find her a little intimidating at first, as if there’s always a storm brewing beneath the surface.

But if you get to know her, you’ll see a different side. Mariko is actually really sweet and kind, especially with those she’s close to. She’s the type to listen when someone needs to vent or to lend a helping hand, even if she’s struggling with her own stuff. Her compassion shines through in small ways—like when she takes the time to care for animals or checks in on her friends.

Mariko is fiercely loyal to her loved ones and craves genuine connections. She can be a bit shy and prefers to observe rather than jump into conversations, but that just means she’s thoughtful and really takes in what’s happening around her. Inside, she’s battling with the darker aspects of her powers and trying to find her place, but she also wants to uplift and protect the people she cares about.

Basically, Mariko is a mix of shadow and light—tough on the outside but with a heart of gold if you’re lucky enough to get close.

“Rain Falls on the Dead” allows Mariko to summon a supernatural rain that symbolizes both the literal and metaphorical aspects of loss and decay. This rain induces a sense of despair and deterioration in its surroundings, amplifying Kurogami’s influence as it feeds on the negative emotions it generates.

Mechanics:

• Corruption Rain: Mariko can summon a dark, heavy rain that falls over a specified area, affecting both physical and metaphysical aspects of the environment. Anything touched by the rain begins to deteriorate, with objects, landscapes, and even the health of those caught in it experiencing a gradual decline.

• Target Affliction: Those caught in the rain suffer from a loss of vitality and strength, feeling physically weaker and experiencing confusion. They may be haunted by visions of their past failures or regrets, disrupting their focus and abilities.

• Environmental Decay: The rain can weaken structures, corrode materials, and create hazardous conditions in the area. For example, metal might rust, wood might rot, and the ground could become unstable, hindering enemy movement and creating obstacles.

• Manifestation of Shadows: As the rain falls, shadowy figures or specters from the memories of the deceased can appear, serving as manifestations of Mariko’s past. These shadows can distract enemies or even momentarily attack, reflecting the emotional weight of loss.

• Temporary Empowerment: While the rain negatively affects others, Mariko may gain temporary enhancements. She could move faster or gain increased strength as she harnesses the energy of despair surrounding her, reflecting Kurogami’s chaotic influence.

Limitations:

• Short Duration: The ability can only be maintained for a limited time, after which Mariko may feel drained or weakened due to the toll of harnessing such destructive energy.

• Target Resistance: Individuals with strong wills or emotional fortitude may be less affected by the psychological aspects of the rain, requiring Mariko to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in her opponents.

• Tainted Mariko: When Kurogami takes over, Mariko enters a state known as “Tainted Mariko.” In this state, her powers become significantly more chaotic and destructive. Her appearance may shift, with dark shadows swirling around her, and her demeanor becoming more aggressive and unpredictable. While she gains increased power and the ability to summon an even more potent rain, the risk of losing control becomes paramount. heyhey! i had an idea or two for the icon/banner, so I'm here to suggest it :3 perhaps something with a pink and green theme, pink for Kouign-Amann (Mod Kouign-Amann, obv /lh) and green for Nene (Mod Storybook, who's replycons are Nene)

other than those colors, which r a little obvious since they're the theme colors of y'all/y'all's replycons, maybe the banner could be Kouign-Amann and the icon could be Nene, or the other way around, or something else I dunno. And another obvious thing, perhaps, would be to have a cottagecore/nature-y theme for the blog because of the username. Uhmm hopefully this helped at least 0.0001% to get some design or theme ideas, a lot of this was just me writing every single thing that came to my mind soooo. It's a mess. But I already wrote all of this and if it brings the slightest bit of an idea for the theme then I'd be happy :)

Since it seems that there's mod applications, this might change since instead of having to incorporate like, two themes/colors, it'd be three or more, but in general I think a nature/flower aesthetic would be lovely and very fitting for this blog!

📖 hey 🌧️🐧! we where actually kinda focusing on making a theme that was like this, but ur message-thingy helped a lot :3 i was honestly going to smash kougin-amann and nene into 1 icon.. but this kinda makes sense now, so thank you for that! but we where going kinda in this direction for the theme. we had another person who wants to be a mod, and the character they where going to be is sakura from cardcaptor, so they where gonna have a flower-themed-ish character. mod kougin-amann can u reply to this and tell me ur thoughts! :)
