What is the 'captainverse' shit? I always just ignored it tbh but I have seen many incels justify shipping the canon lesbians with men because 'captain is canonically male so all valks are bi' when as far as I can tell captain is canonically not fucking real as the only captain of the hyperion ever mentioned is Himeko.

Hmmm so I'd like to avoid being overly negative. I'll answer you, but watch your tone in the future.

Captainverse was a storyline that spanned a ton of events over multiple years. It concluded last year or so with one final fluffy event after all the drama. The Captainverse storyline isn't relevant to the main story of Hi3 but happens in the Sea of Quanta, so it would be "real" in that sense.

Bronie AKA Haxxor Bunny (has an expy in Honkai Star Rail named Silver Wolf, which you may be familiar with) appears briefly in the Moon Arc, and one of Misteln's Stigmata children seemed to hail from her world. There's also suspicious wish-granting devices in the sea that may or may not link back to Sa's shenanigans, but we don't have proof of that (plus those were written long before Sa was).

The main character of the Captainverse is an ex high-ranking Schicksal captain hailing from an alternate world to the Main Story's, referred to only as... "Captain". There's also another recurring person named "Ferryman" who turned out to be a hopeless version of Captain due to some time shenanigans. He has his own Hyperion, separate from the one in canon. I think his original backstory was being sent on some mission by Otto in the Sea? He was originally designed as a self-insert but later became his own character.

Captainverse has ship tease with some girls, but there's also plenty of girls who show zero romantic interest in the Captain, so you've been told a generalization. The main "ships" with the Captain are two Theresas who aren't actually called Theresa: the vampire Luna and the immortal tactician Kongming. Captain saved their lives at great cost to himself... the fireworks...

Many of these stories are quite well-told and may bring you to tears TuT

Oh, Captainverse actually has its fair share of sapphics. If you like that, it's a shame you never gave it a chance. For example, Kasumi (amnesiac Sakura with extra steps) and a Kallen from a different world found each other in Captainverse and seem well on their way to find the happy ending they never got in the main story due to things such as "dying". Kasumi's origin story event was also a direct result of Kallen being in love with Sakura...

@sacron1143 knows the most about actual Captainverse lore, so best to ask there if you're genuinely curious. Don't bother if you're gonna be a hater though. There's also this document but I'm not sure it's fully up to date.

revamping this bc i feel like it could be better: i love her so so bad <3. canonically disabled lesbian who has trouble with feeling intense emotions BUT HER ENTIRE CHARACTER REVOLVES AROUND LOVE!! whether it be from her romantic love of seele in the early game/manhua (it being the primary motivation for her to take care of herself and a partial reflection of her initial goal of saving seele from the quantam space no matter what); familial love surrounding her (her inheritance of the legacy of reason from welt yang who lost his own father, her guardians love for her being the only reason shes survived for so long even after their death <- many examples of that but the most obvious one being alexandra trading her own life for bronya via misteln, cocolia's relationship with bronya being emphasized as complex in part because of the real love they do feel for each other alongside all the other resentment from cocolia's betrayal of her), literally just. the core of reason and its 300,000 minds being representative of welt joyce's decision to fight for humanity because he loved humanity from that. and all of this from (again!!!) a canonically disabled lesbian! who's character and marginalized identities have been dehumanized over and over again in real life and in the plot! this isn't even mentioning how her entire arc exemplifies honkai's theme of agency!! which makes me sob my eyes out bc bronya hasn't really been allowed agency since she came to cocolia's orphanage!! she was a child mercenary who's lost her home and guardians over and over and over again and forced to care for herself when she was young. her first true point of domestic stability was in cocolia's orphanage (which even then wasn't perfect!! cocolia, for how much she loved her children, still asked them to participate in dangerous experiments!) and when that was threatened because of her loss of seele and her trust in cocolia, she chose to leave. her agency is also exemplified with cocolia literally taking over her body in the early chapters of the game and ofc the parallels w wendy. AND DO YOU SEE HOW THIS CONNECTS TO WELT JOYCE, HUMANITY'S ADAM, WHO CHOSE TO FIGHT FOR HUMANITY AND EMBRACE HIMSELF AS A HUMAN INSPITE OF HIS ORIGIN AS THE CURRENT ERA'S FIRST HERRSCHER AND HOW THAT ALSO EXTENDS BACK TO ELYSIA'S SACRIFICE? she's so important to me everyone watch cyberangel rn.

Collei:

MY DEADALIVEGIRL!!!!!!!!!! i genuinely don't even know where to start. collei is such a beautiful beautiful character who's entire story revolves around a girl who's been dehumanized and exploited for her entire life, healing through compassion and a recognition of her own humanity. first of all, when we meet collei in the genshin manhua, she is full of vitriolic anger and hate at both the world and herself. she's been dehumanized over and over and over again and because its a repetitive experience, she fully believes that her lack of worth is something innately true. this only changes when someone (amber) shows her unrelenting compassion and trust. amber goes against everything that collei believed about herself. amber tells her that she is not only capable of good, but she is good. amber reinforces this novel idea that collei deserves goodness. and that realization is the moment that collei begins recognizing her own humanity, and thus, recognizing her own potential to grow, heal, and be the good person that amber knows she is. every moment thus forth is a demonstration of her attempts to grow and be kind!!!! she decides to go through with cyno's sealing ritual even with its conditions! she asks lisa to help her write a letter at the end of the manhua! she mends amber's tattered clothes like she promised! she decides to go to sumeru, a land of wisdom! it's so pertinent to her character that she gains her vision (representative of her ambition) during a show of compassion (protecting a child during a dangerous storm)! it's even in her symbolism with the way she's constantly referred to as a sproutling. NOT EVEN MENTIONING HOW THE REBIRTH METAPHOR THATS APPLIED TO HER CHARACTER (re: sprout of rebirth, revived serval, cyno and anubis and their ritual) IS SO DEEPLY CONNECTED TO SUMERU (her being the first sumeru character we know of and having that rebirth metaphor hinted at in the manhua! that rebirth metaphor carrying over to the actual sumeru plot w nahida! the rebirth metaphor tying in with the snake and cat symbolism that she and the archon residue complete!!!!!!) she's just such a loaded character!! AND collei's one of the few genshin characters with canonical cptsd who has identifiable and realistically common triggers. most importantly, the game acknowledges that its there and in spite of that, shows her resilience in still trying and healing!!!! my disabled deadalive mummygirl i love her so bad.

so, for those who might not know, the basis of plato's philosophy is that what we perceive as reality isnt whats Actually real. the real world is the world of ideas, physically unreachable from ours.

an idea is essentially a very general concept of something, and everything in our world tries to imitate ideas, which is how we get physical objects. for example, physical objects would be Specific kinds of tree, or individual ones, while the idea would just be A Tree. ideas are eternal, perfect, undefined and unchanging, which is why physical objects fail in their imitation of them- theyre too individually distinct.

and, you know how misteln is canonically described as an Idea? yeah! shes, or rather she was, the idea of a schariac.

i say she was, because [at least in my opinion] misteln's character arc is actually about ceasing to be an idea: because look. right after her "birth", she really Was the model of a schariac- selfless, kind, and always trying her best to save everyone [even if, due to unique nature of her existence, she wass unable to do so]. she didnt even have a first name; "schariac" was all there was to her.

but she met alexandra, and was given a name; she joined the world serpent, and was given another. she developed herself as a new person, and during this period she didnt actually associate herself with her last name, instead going only by "hare". and undeniably, she became. Really Weird. just a deeply bizarre person. but thats the point: shes a PERSON, even if she can never quite understand humanity. but shes still an individual, with her own history, her own personality and mannerisms and views on life. and especially after moon arc, when shes no longer bound to her duty as a part of world serpent, id say it wouldnt be accurate to call her an Idea in the truest sense of the world, not anymore.

finished act 1 of chapter 39 (the last chapter of the seele arc of 1.5) and my god i am LOVING ITTT!! The lore/scientific explanations are mostly easy to understand, and characters dumb it down for you. The story is gripping. Vita is a fucking queen. But most importantly.

The character dynamics??? are?? amazing????

Like genuinely. Seele-Seele, Seele-Senti, Misteln-Prometheus, Misteln-Kira, Susannah-Kira, Kira-Seele. Shrodinger is a great addition, as someone who hasn't played the Durandal VN and was half paying attention to the Anti Entropy VN. I love how everyone wasn't just chummy with each other. Seele and Senti were taking constant potshots at each other, but had moments where they genuinely connected (Senti giving advice to Seele and Seele THANKING her??), Misteln and Kira is simply peak, Misteln and Prometheus' friendship is great, Susannah being like a little sister to Kira, and of course Seele and Seele are amazing. I'm not going to mention Vita rn bc I haven't finished everything, but she also did fantastically!

Real talk, I think this was one of the main problems of the moon arc. Not only was the cast too big (which is to be expected since it's the finale) but also they were all way too friendly with each other, my drama addicted brain can't pay attention like that. Oh also not understanding most of what was being said in the finale was also not very good i think.

I've already played part 2, and I did Fu Hua's part 2 stuff when I was a new player to get a free Senti so I knew Vita was going to be an antagonist and betray them, and I have to say the queen delivered. The different narration at times and then learning it was Vita? (Well I knew that already, but still) Her attacking Prometheus and talking with Schrodinger? Her musings about how people are always the same in the face of the apocalypse? The "I have never doubted my worthiness to stand against the stars" part and how the characters were thanking Vita for being omniscient, because it meant they were going to win, but internally being unsure and Vita knowing that? Chefs kiss. Her saying that she sincerely would have liked to live with them in peaceful times? Also her "last words" in her fake death being "I love you all"? I think she meant that. Genuinely. Even if not fully, then at least partly. That's what makes all this so beautiful. Everyone's efforts to stop the calamity, Vita dutifully playing the role of the villain AND the narrator. And I haven't finished it yet!! They knocked it out the park with this!!

i think i've just had another HoV revelation, this time about Captainverse HoV

paging @sacron1143, i feel like you'd like to see this and you might know enough about the captainverse to add any supporting or disproving evidence to this theory of mine!

so obvi many of the captainverse events were meant to be less serious and more silly, so I think that stuff like the recurring gag of NEET Water Djinn (the common Captainverse version of HoV) isn't meant to be analyzed too deeply. Water Djinn appears everywhere cause it's funny, that's it.

buuuuuut, if we were to try and analyze her as a character, then there's one thing that's always struck me as a bit odd, which is that she appears so often even in places that she seems totally foreign to. like in Odd Drifter we meet her in a desert despite being a "Water Djinn", or in Seele's dream in the Estival Seaside event. We even see the writers themselves poke fun at this in the 2nd-to-last Captainverse event when we meet a Water Djinn somewhere on Himeko's bubble world and Captain is just like "why r u everywhere, r you mass-produced lol" and she's all like "bro what's your problem, piss off"

however there IS one bubble world where the Water Djinn has a clear origin, where she actually seemed to belong and where there were other characters with a meaningful relationship with her... which was the Honkai Quest bubble world. In that bubble world Water Djinn was one of two spirits, the other being a blue-eyed version of her, and the orange-eyed one corresponded to HoV and the blue-eyed one w/ Kiana. But the two of them weren't identical copies per se; they were sisters. And then we had the forest spirit Bianka to boot, who didn't have an explicit connection back then but now with the revelation of Bianka being the real Kiana it's plausible that she was related to the two water spirits too.

The thing is that older Water Djinn (HoV) didn't "die" in the events of that story- she disappeared. Into a rift. We know how screwy the Sea of Quantum can get, so for someone like Water Djinn to get yoinked out of her world by a Quantum rift wouldn't be unusual at all. Water Djinn was established to be a powerful fighter at that time, and she only got pulled into the rift because she was weakened at that moment. It's possible, though not necessarily plausible, that she was still strong enough to survive after being taken by the rift even if she wasn't strong enough to avoid getting swallowed up by it. And we've seen plenty of times where healthy & powerful characters get yoinked by a rift without their consent, i.e. Misteln semi-accidentally kicking Kira out of the SSHC bubble world.

All that is to say- what if all the random Water Djinns we see in the Captainverse are somehow derived from the original Water Djinn of the Honkai Quest bubble world? I doubt they're all the same individual because of the varying circumstances we find them in, but they're always in a weird limbo where they're out-of-place in the world they're at and they don't seem to have a clear purpose or direction. Just like the Captain's mind apparently split from Kongming's portal shenanigans, maybe the Water Djinns throughout the SoQ are fragments of the original one, or maybe they're echoes of her wandering through the SoQ and the "real" one is still out there.

of course we'll never know because the Captainverse is over now, but i hope there's still an alive-and-well Water Djinn out there looking for a chance to be reunited with her younger sister, the younger sister who so desperately searched for even the smallest trace of her bigger sister after she disappeared from the world.

How does Honkai both have the best characters and the worst writers for the characters and antagonists?

We killed Sa. Just like that? Or, if we didn't kill her, we incapitated her for tens of thousands of years?

Did I miss anything, or did Kiana snipe Sa in the Sea of Quanta and Vita then took most of her power?

The Rebels cant destroy the Death Star before the Death Star has shown what it's capable of - thats not engaging, its not interesting.

Right now, with Sa, we have destroyed the Death Star before it has destroyed Alderaan. WHY THE FUCK would we be worried about Death Star II?

At least the character of Sa was incredible.

Unless part 2 is fucking amazing, I might aswell make part 1.5 of Snippets AU just be part 2. Have Sa as the villain, have her actually be a threat. She is so good that I do not need to replace her with the backup antagonist I introduced in chapter 72: Kcolc that was there incase Sa was disappointing. Sa completely outdoes that imaginary being (maybe they'll show up for part 3?)

Sa is that good. She works so well as an antagonist we did not even know about in part 1.

All that needed to happen was that she wasn't completely defeated in part 1.5

So why the fuck was she completely defeated in part 1.5?

No main character even needs to die. Just have her succeed in retreating and destroying Phospherus. That would set the stage for part 2 to have this looming threat in the background - like what Otto and the Old Project Stigma was in part 1. (Because New Project Stigma wasn't foreshadowed or built up to at all)

But from part 1.5, what do we have to tie the two main parts together story wise? We have no villain, we have no problems, we have no looming threat.

What is part 1.5 for? Why do we have this? It introduces a new villain, Sa, and then we defeat her.

Its barely even cleanup from part 1. It abandoned that thread really early on to focus on Sa. So part 1.5 became the setup for Sa. But then we defeat Sa.

So what is part 1.5 for? Padding? What a way to waste 7 chapters and almost a year of storytelling.

Sa and Vita are great characters. They absolutely deserve to be in the story, they add a lot to it by themselves.

But fuck, the story treats them so wastefully.

The writers was doing everything right. EVERYTHING. Sa is set up. With her in the background of part 2, you constantly have tension because Sa is still out there, and then that threat comes to bloom in APHO when she attacks Earth. They just need to show how powerful she is, that even when everyone present throws all they have at her, The Vitas give their authority to Griseo, Fu Hua Meta-Morphs, Misteln jumps in, and even Vita risks her life to assist, and all they manage to do to Sa is make her feel that this fight isnt worth it and she needs to retreat and gather more power.

But instead we defeat her.

How did they throw this away like that...?

I'm almost crying at this actually.

Part 1.5 was mediocre to decent in terms of setting the story up for part 2. And then in chapter 42 they stomped the gas and had everything ready and good to go for the start of part 2.

And then they threw it away.

Cant sacrifice phospherus for the story. think of the cute vitas. dont we all want cute vitas over an antagonist theyve set up the last 6+ chapters and go into part 2 with no setup from part 1.5? the cute vitas are more important

Like yeah sure okay he'll call him Sire 'cause that's what everyone calls him, but beyond that I think it tops out at like... the typical level of respect you're supposed to show to your employer. At the end of the day, World Serpent is a means to an end for him, just a job not a belief system.

in which this chapter managed to make me give a shit about every character involved which was completely unprecedented. but also what the fuck just happened

anyway this chapter started off pretty strong (esp with that sage fight) but i was pretty paranoid that they would make seele pull a kiana for bubble universe(s) #547887648 which was the only thing i didn't really care much for in this chapter. i guess it's bc all they've interacted with is faceless npcs and vita, but vita isn't a native so......

at least there was plenty of gay shit

side note, i was curious about the two new mobs: white sword of damocles and black wine of theramenes. the sword of damocles is a famous symbol but i couldn't figure out the symbolic significance of "wine of theramenes," which doesn't seem to be a thing? and i don't see any parallels between theramenes and the sage other than "figure centered between two sides (worlds)" idfk...

this was one of my fave moments in the chapter bc you very rarely see a "smart" character fuck things up royally and also try amend them, by a former antagonist no less. honestly i did not care much about misteln initially but they managed to humanize her (and prometheus) throughout this whole ordeal so that's cool

y'know she didn't have to defend fuhua here but she did anyway hehe 😳

also i noticed they modeled the shark teeth for niggurath which is kinda funny considering they were lazy enough to reuse hua's model and face, and this shit would be too hard to see on a phone.. but now i wish they would give hos shark teeth too 😔

1. I'm not exactly attracted to Kiana the way I'm attracted to other characters, ofc I love her and she's a great character just not so much romantically for me. Still, I'll write on her tho I may not do every request on her.

2. Unfortunately I stopped playing after the ending of part 1 (the patch when HoFi and HoO were released). I did come back for the start of part 2 but didn't stay after that and haven't been back for months now. Tho I'm aware of what's been happening even if I don't know the finer details in the story.

3. Ooh this is tough... Mei was my first love I'd say and she's still no 1 for me. Other than her, I love Himeko, Cecilia and Eden.

I'll assume you mean deserved more from devs so this would be Cocolia for me. It's kinda strange how they treat her everytime, tho she's not badly done in hi3 I still think they basically don't care about her at all. Next would be Cecilia, sorry I was very salty we got Misteln I have been wanting playable Cecilia for so long. Rita also feels quite neglected now and honestly I have never really found her all that important after the HoV arc.

🦋Misteln’s Backstory🦋

Hello, reader. 

 This is Misteln Lavinia, youngest daughter of the Lavinia family, I have decided to chronicle my life story here in case something happens to me.

I was born in Quedlinburg, Germany to a family very well versed in the medical field. Both my parents and my older brother were both doctors. So naturally, I was to become one as well. My whole family were ability users, all with an ability that would aid in medical care. All except me. I was able to predict things before they happened. I could almost perfectly predict when a patient would die, I could see what would happen if my mother unknowingly gave someone expired medication, and I was able to stop her from doing so. 

I could tell the future.

••Treating my first patient.

"Quick, press down here! Press down hard to staunch the bleeding!"

I shot a panicked look at my brother, Vashe. Before me lay a man covered in bandages from head to toe, his torso twitching and twisting with severe pain as he muttered nonsense.

"What are you waiting for?! Quick, hold it down!"

There was anger in my brother's order and — I was sharp enough to tell — a hint of disappointment. I remember hurrying to hold onto the man's right arm, and mustering all my strength to press down the cotton gauze onto his shoulder.

The man let out a heart-wrenching moan, but i couldn’t stop until my brother ordered me to.

After who knows how long, the patient before me stopped breathing, and I stared blankly at the lifeless body.

"You did your best," Vashe told me. His voice returned to its usual impassive tone. "Get some rest real quick. Some of them are still waiting to be patched up."

I turned over the man's red palm. His fingers are already stiff as the stench of blood fills the air. I allowed the smell to rile up my emotions — because I knew that I must get used to this if I were to continue down this road.

• Story no. 2

• At school

When I was 18, I enrolled at Nagoya University, and majored in medical science. This was the same school that my whole family had all enrolled in.

"Excellent... excellent as always," the professor said to herself as she flipped through the notes, "With your grades and clinical performance... You'll be an outstanding candidate whether you're in the hospital or in the armed forces."

I remembered how my pulse raced, and how my fingers subconsciously clenched up. The professor noticed my nervous body language.

"What's the matter, child? Have you got something to say?"

I composed myself — I wanted to convey my decision with confidence and conviction.

"I want to go back to where I’m from, Professor. I know I can help more people down there."

The old woman was stunned for a brief moment, before she slowly pushed her glasses upwards. Then, she lowered her head and continued on reading the file she is holding. I thought she ignored me. But she spoke up after a little while.

"I see. That's exactly what your mother said... I wish you all the best then, Misteln."

I stood up and solemnly bowed. As I walked through that white corridor at Nagoya University for the last time, my heart was filled with determination.

When I returned home, I found out that both of my parents had passed away due to a cureless sickness that had swept through my entire home village. People were wearing masks with hopes that they would be safe from this sickness. But because the village was so small, so many people died.. My brother and I treated as many as we could, but soon our small family clinic was too full to take in even more patients. We turned our small house into a secondary clinic and tried to treat more. But I already knew it was no use. They all died. 

While I was trying to comfort families, Vashe was almost always holed up in the now basement of our house, I had no idea what he was doing for a long time, I didn’t have time to worry about that. Soon, I noticed how much Vashe had started to change. 

He became obsessed with developing a medicine that would steel the human body against this sickness. At the time, I didn’t know, but later on I found out that he had been secretly digging up recently buried corpses of those who had fallen due to this sickness. He was trying to create a “cure”. 

Vache came to me under the guise of finally lending more help to me with my clinic, although his true intentions were to find test subjects that he could not legally procure. Unknown to me, he began selling his experimental solutions as “wonder cures” to test their effects on people. He even convinced me that he had finally created a cure. I should have known. But Vashe’s ability allowed him to temporarily shut down other’s abilities for a few minutes. He found ways to believably fake the results of his experiments. This “medicine” gave them false hope but did nothing for their actual ailments. It only made things worse because it weakened the immune system even more, which led to many, many more unnecessary deaths.

After I found out, I hesitantly reported my twisted brother to the government and he was arrested. I don’t know what happened to him. He was probably put on the death row. I prefer not to think about it.

•Story Part 3

• After I left Germany

After that happened, I remained at my home, still trying to treat patients with no real change. Soon, the entire 21,500 people population of my village were just… gone. I stayed until the end, desperately trying to save them all. Only to fail and watch as the streets slowly emptied and the sounds of people calling out deals at the market and the sounds of children playing were nothing but distant memories. 

So I left. I packed up my stuff and moved to a new country called Nimone. 

A few years after I moved, a war broke out. Because I had built a steady reputation as a top notch doctor, I was drafted and became an active field nurse. It was several years because the government of Nimone found out about my ability by finding old records of me and my family. I have no idea why I took so long. 

After they found out, I was pulled from the battlefield momentarily and made a  advisor for military officials. I used this newfound position to conduct experiments of my own, I wanted to understand everything there was to understand about abilities, and my own ability. I also wanted to continue with Vashe’s tests, it was hopeless, trying to find a cure for a sickness that had already wiped out a village, but I still wanted to try. 

After the war ended, I left Nimone and moved to Yokohama Japan in order to be closer to other ability users, and attempt to get high enough in Yokohama’s government to have access to data a normal person would not. I secured the same position that I originally had and opened a medium sized hospital that doubled as a lab in the basement of the building. Here I conducted my research under the cover of night, and during the day I treated and saved many patients. And that is what I will continue to do until there is nothing left to understand.

Extra Character Story Part 4 — Treatment of a Injured Father Figure

The man lying on the hospital bed was tanned and about fifty years old. His muscles were chiseled like a sculpture, but were now covered in layers of scars and bloody stains. He was breathing heavily, his chest heaving violently — he was right at death's door.

Misteln’s eyes moved quickly over the patient, searching for anything fatal that could rob him of his life. She soon located a wound on his lower left abdomen. Although it wasn’t large, the bleeding was constant and it was likely that his internal organs had been injured by some kind of sharp weapon.

She put on a new pair of gloves and teared a large piece of bandage off the roll. She skillfully and tightly wrapped it tightly around the patient's waist, pressing down on the area that was bleeding. A dark red spread through the surface of the bandage, but Misteln maintained her pressure without betraying the slightest hint of panic.

After a short while, the man's breathing was no longer rapid and the tense expression on his face eased. Misteln knew that he was out of danger and has safely fallen asleep.

She slowly took off her gloves and leaned against the military clinic’s window sill in a brief repose.

"Please don't die, Oleg..."

She whispered to herself as she gazed at the bed.

"...There're still a lot of duties we need to complete."

"...Therefore, I will go to the Deep End for discipline myself to verify my hypothesis."

This report was clutched in the hands of a young person, trembling with excitement.

"Why am I the only one not to get this report?"

"Silence, kid."

"Dr. Misteln always been like that. She knows what she wants—and how to get it."

I actually quite like Misteln's arc.

Girl really went "your mom sacrificed herself for you, leaving me without my first friend. the person whose legacy you inherited lived a life i wished was mine. i am now going to steal your power and beat you up." i know that this motivation got revealed to just be an act bc the Misteln we see is a reborn version that only has the OG's memories and does not identify with it. But the supposed motivation is so juvenile that it's almost funny. Not to mention that Bronya doesn't even know her mom met Misteln, so what's the point. (The point is that Misteln wanted to prove something to her OG self, and that makes me sad.)

And then you compare her arc to Senti's and just go wow her life sure was miserable. Senti started off homicidal and then decided that actually she'll just let people live and wish them the best. And step in whenever the old-timer needs help. Meanwhile, Misteln was born feeling the full force of Cecilia's heroic and altruistic desires but gradually hardened her heart bc of the whole curse thing. I think it's sad. I'm glad we got Senti the way she is. I'm glad Kiana didn't turn out this way.

I would've loved to see more of Misteln if it weren't for the fact that it turns out the Misteln we see isn't even the same Misteln whose backstory and grief we walked through. But maybe that's the point; once Project Stigma succeeds and everyone is reborn, all their stories get cut short at the point at which they were reborn. That is their ending, even if their narrative arcs haven't reached their conclusion. Even if they are reborn with the same memories, they don't feel the same connection to the past and to their original motivations. The rebirth promised by Project Stigma is only salvation to those like Misteln who are suicidal and want a massive do-over.

That said, this only applies to the nameless stories of the Project Stigma fodder and I'm not sure why the writers think I care about them when we were never told any of them to begin with. But okay, cool point, mhy.

They're not winning any awards with this arc and I'm not going to remember it after next week, but at least I took away some things from this very coherent narrative that I sure didn't from the previous 2+ hours of characters rambling about fictional science and philosophy.
