I really do think my biggest problem with One Piece live action is how little they give Usopp and Sanji to do. Like, Syrup Village and Baratie were **their** arcs, but in the show they feel more like obligations.

Usopp undoubtedly had it the worst out of every member of the crew. He feels frankly like a side character in the adaptation of Syrup Village. The emotional reveal of his mom's death is just dumped at the end of the first part and quickly side stepped for the Marine stuff. The emotional core of Syrup Village was Usopp's true strength of character in spite of his weakness and his tendency to lie. Luffy beats Kuro while defending Usopp's character, and Usopp, in spite of being temporarily disabled, gets the final hit on Jango. Meanwhile in live action, he's just sorta sitting in the corner with Nami and Kaya as Luffy beats Kuro.

Meanwhile Sanji just feels like all of his edges were sanded off. He's just a nice guy to everybody from the start, and it just makes his arc much less engaging. Him being so aggressive to everyone and butting heads constantly made him entertaining and interesting. And while in the original, his arc was being willing to chase and pursue his dream like Zeff wished he would after seeing Luffy beat a pirate admiral, in the live action, he just sorta comes outta nowhere during the climax to save Luffy and just kinda comes with them. Their connection is so much less meaningful, both because it doesn't evolve from how it is at the start and because I feel no reason why Luffy specifically inspired him and moved him.

Hii I have an update from when I sent an ask mid November! It was when I got fucked by that stranger at a rest stop during my road trip. Genuinely will never understand why people use pronouns for someone that they don't use. If someone uses he/they why the fuck would you call them "she" like that's just misgendering. Doesn't matter the person is "cis" or whatever, it's still misgengering.
