Reading through the Heroes Ascension Book, and here’s the stuff I found that seemed like set up for future, likely sidelined story content :/
But there are also hints for stuff that could show up in the main blame through interactions and some possible new characters.
Rebuilding Ruins: Symmetra/Lifeweaver Story
• Lifeweaver is living at the Atlantic Arcology, which comes under attack by Null Sector, which could have been a major problem due to their “guests”.
• Symmetra is working against negative influences inside Vishkar, but how far that will get her is up in the air and Lifeweaver invites her to join him at the Arcology as a member of the “Collective”, an altruistic group of scientists and intellectuals.
Unity: Orisa/Efi Story
• Numbani comes under assault by Null Sector, with Humans defending their Omnic neighbors much more openly than other places.
• Efi creates a bunch of small drones to help defend Numbani, so that Orisa and her can leave Numbani to help people.
• Story ends with the pair planning on setting out immediately, and takes place around the same time as the Rio Mission, Efi may be seeking out Overwatch.
Luck of the Draw: Ashe Story
• Ashe and the Deadlocks were attempting to break into the Las Vegas criminal underground.
• Ashe nearly died defending BOB, who in turn is almost taken captive by Null Sector.
• It confirmed damaging or removing the “helmets” on an Omnic causes them to have a “seizure” and die. (What the fuck Rammatra?)
A Friendly Rivalry: Junkers Story.
• Junker Queen almost had Roadhog and Junkrat executed.
• Junkrat reveals his secret treasure: A giant airship stored within the last remnants of the Omnium beneath Junkertown. Queen and Hammond begin making plans to get it airborne again.
Thoughtless Gods: Hammond Story (And boy these is a lot of worldbuilding in this one)
• Direct sequel to the previous story.
• Reveals that Omnics remaining in the Outback are oddly feral and corrupted in some fashion, cannibalizing each other for parts and actively “hunting” Junkers. Hammond has no idea what caused this.
• Hammond remembers his time being experimented on the Moon Colony, he is apparently “older” than Winston has he gained awareness before hand, and sort of became a “big brother” to Winston.
• The apes and Hammond were not the first experiments. There were failures, apparently some other kind of animals, that are still up on the Moonbase. Hammond calls them “wrong”.
• The apes have a whole society, are building weapons and armor and may be constructing a whole new building/device on the Colony.
• Possible hints at the Mars Colony.
• Two apes are named. Oscar, unknown, and Dyson, a large, cruel Orangutan - feels like a character set up.
Where Honor Lives: Hanzo/Kiriko Story
• Shimada weaponry have “special energy tech”, throws more confusion on the “is this magic” question surrounding the Japanese characters abilities. The Hashimoto are attempting to copy the designs but “they can’t manifest the proper power”. (This seems to be due to Kiriko’s father purposefully give them shoddy work but they don’t know that).
• The Hashimoto can work with impunity in Tokyo, and are causing trouble even with Null Sector literally on the horizon.
• Hanzo and Kiriko’s interactions again confuse the whole age gap, because he treats her as if she was a tween when he was a teen.
• Hanzo joins Kiriko in protecting Kanezaka from the invasion.
Lost Ghosts: Soldier/Ana Story
• Ana splits from Jack after learning he’s been sitting on the list of Overwatch agent names using it to track Talon movements and not warning the targets. She isn’t joining Overwatch but is going to be trying to protect remaining Agents who haven’t answered the Recall but are not yet dead to Talon.
• We meet another old Overwatch agent Mirembe, who is thinking about answering the Recall, I think she’s the woman that was standing in the group photo from Ana’s trailer.
• Another, Kimiko, is named.
Lucky Man: Soldier/Sombra Story
• Sombra has been leaking info to Soldier, because she believes the cabal she is after is also to blame for that happened in Zurich.
• Jack has been hunting Talon as a proxy because he never truly believed they took down the HQ. He also doesn’t believe Reyes knew what was going to happen.
• Sombra and Jack seem to be set up to continue working together, and Jack is headed to Oasis hunting for more clues on the Cabal.

One Dress a Day Challenge
June: Weddings
Coming 2 America / Jermaine Fowler as Lavelle and Nomzamo Mbatha as Mirembe
This gown gives the Marry Me wedding dress a run for its money in sheer size: the train was 15 feet long, and the whole dress weighed 83 pounds. Mbatha said, "I felt like a such princess, the dress was so gorgeous, and I was told 'OK, try to move.' And I literally could not move." The crew set the train up on three little carts, but then they had a problem with the train moving in unexpected ways and pushing Jermaine Fowler out of shots. So finally they added some wires to keep the whole thing moving in a straight line.
The gown itself is made of a gorgeous orangey-red ankara fabric. Mirembe also has a red veil attached to a colorful beaded fascinator, a multi-strand ruby necklace, and ropes of cowrie shells in her hair.
Lavelle looks equally impressive in white and cream, with embroidery on the sleeves and back. His outfit is topped off with a jaunty crown.
Costumes for this film were designed by Ruth E. Carter.

“We are here to break male dominance in the field of birding,” says Judith Mirembe, the chair of the Uganda Women Birders Club, as the group reaches the botanical gardens on a day where the weather cannot decide between light rain and sunshine.
Mirembe, in the check shirt, with other female birders, using their phones to find out details about a bird they’ve spotted.
“There are very few female birders in Uganda. The tourism industry in general is yet to fully appreciate women,” she adds.
Two dozen women follow Mirembe in silence, hoping to spot a “lifer” – a bird on their wishlist. “Everyone has a different lifer,” says Linda Nakalema, one of the club’s 80 members. “We see the red-chested cuckoo all the time in Uganda but people from South Africa are very excited when they see it because it only migrates there seasonally. It is their lifer. For others it is the marabou stork that we see scavenging through our rubbish every day. It looks so elegant when it flies.
Tour companies describe Uganda as a paradise for birdwatchers. About 50% of Africa’s bird species, and 11% of the world’s, are found here. Uganda has the highest concentration of birds in Africa. The country’s birders have an ambitious target of bringing in an annual $700m in tourist revenue by 2030. In 2019, tourism in Uganda generated about $1.37bn, about 3.6% of total GDP.
Mirembe believes that female birders are entitled to a share of these earnings. At the International Conference for Women Birders the club hosted in Uganda earlier this month, female enthusiasts from all over the world met to discuss their unique challenges and discuss how, together, they can bring more money to women in the sector.
“Birding is expensive and many Ugandan women are struggling to meet costs such as buying binoculars, telescopes and cameras to record and share the birds they sight with other people,” she says, adding that cultural expectations of women as caregivers mean their spouses may not let them go for week-long birdwatching tours. “This is our reality. Even tourist operators do not take women seriously and we know that we must work twice as hard as men to get the same respect.”
Members of Uganda’s Women Birders Club, which started in 2013, meet in Entebbe every Sunday. It is a training ground and a support network. Many of the women already have careers in tourism and wildlife. Others join to make new friends and learn.
After the satisfaction of spending hours looking for birds and the joy that reverberates through the group when someone sights, accurately names and describes a bird, the women sit down for lunch in a restaurant. Over smoked beef and matooke (mashed green bananas), they speak of a time when birding could be a hazardous pursuit for women.
People would see women with binoculars, accuse them of trying to steal land and beat them up. Others could be hostile to the women because they wore trousers – a taboo in some Ugandan cultures. They recall tour operators who would send them to the field with drivers who’d sexually harass them and tourist accommodation where the women would be put in a shared room with men.
Miremebe watches the younger enthusiasts with pride as she tells them how Uganda was the first country in Africa to start a female birders’ club, and how there are now similar associations in Rwanda and Kenya.
“We must not let fear hold us back from opportunity. We need to keep it going against all odds,” is Mirembe’s farewell cry, as the women leave the restaurant and head back into Entebbe alongside the tired beachgoers and weary market-sellers.

woah, does that picture mention Mirembe? With her last name being Atim?? Is there any more mention of her or Kiriko?
Yes it does!! I actually had to go a reread that page to see if you were right!! It details that by this time she was a new agent, it actually says that she joined around the same time Angela officially joined (which was much after Cassidy joined). It also detailed that she assisted the Caribbean Coalition in combat operations against insurgent forces looking to take over vulnerable areas.
After that page though I don't think there are any more mentions.
As for Kiriko there was no mention of her, however, there was mention of her mother Asa. It wasn't anything we weren't already aware of but she was still mentioned.

Just curious, why isn't Lesedi one of Tau's mates? I think Makena & Mirembe are too old (although lionesses never actually get too old to have cubs irl), but with Lesedi, my only guesses are she's not interested in Tau and/or cubs, and/or she's not old enough to have cubs.
Well, she isn't interested for starters and she's still young- she still got some baby spots and her mane isn't fully grown. It would be like a grown man in his 30s trying to date a girl in her late teens. NO THANKS! lol
This isn't a story where all lionesses MUST be mates with the male regardless of age or interest. *Uncomfortable tug at the shirt collar* Munirah and Silver weren't mates for example, they have no interest in each other.
Sorry, I just... I really don't know what to think of this ask. XD So imma stop right now.

[ bite ] ( from mirembe )
Saima loved having the chance to kiss Mirembe. Every moment, every touch that they shared with her was an experience. They really marveled at the closeness that they shared and how wonderful she felt.
They hands were resting on her sides, keeping her close in a warm embrace as they kissed her. It was easy for their kisses to deepen, to linger more into the way that she tasted - for them to welcome more of her within them.
As far as they were concerned, these opportunities for affection was something that felt so precious. So when they felt her biting on their lower lip, they couldn't help but sigh a bit into the feeling.
If there was going to be more.. more that came from these kinds of kisses - from the way that her hands felt on them, Saima would be all too willing to welcome it, to welcome her with everything that they had.
They had no hesitation about sharing so much of themself with her, they found it worth it every single time.

Drinking alcohol while breastfeeding impacts health of newborns
A research team at the University of California, Riverside, performed a mouse study to find out. Led by Kelly Huffman, a professor of psychology, the team found that infants’ exposure to alcohol through breastmilk can have long-lasting effects on their development. Specifically, young mice that were exposed to alcohol during early development show smaller body and brain growth, as well as decreased cortical lengths — a measure of brain size. The study appears in Frontiers in Neuroscience. Research shows approximately 36% of breastfeeding mothers in the United States consume alcohol. In Canada and Australia, the numbers are 20% and 60%, respectively. Women who consume alcohol during pregnancy are more likely to drink while breastfeeding. Also, many women who choose to abstain from drinking during pregnancy report beginning to drink again shortly after giving birth. The researchers focused on lactational ethanol exposure, or LEE, and developed a novel postnatal alcohol exposure model in breastfeeding mice. In this mouse model, offspring were exposed to ethanol via nursing from postnatal day (P) 6 through P20 (weaning), a period equivalent to infancy in humans. Compared to controls, LEE mice had reduced body and brain weights, as well as decreased neocortical lengths at wean continuing through to early puberty (age P30). Brain weights were reduced in both ages for males, and at P20 for females; however, P30 female brain weights recovered to control levels. This discovery provides evidence towards sex-specific differences due to LEE. “The reduced body weights in both males and females at P20 and P30 are reflected in human studies in which children exposed to ethanol through contaminated breast milk have lower body weights and growth trajectories,” Huffman said. According to her, the reduction of body and brain weights may be explained by the gut’s inability to efficiently extract nutrients when alcohol is ingested. A decrease in protein synthesis in the small intestine may block absorption of micro- and macronutrients. With regard to how the behavioral development of the LEE mice is affected, Huffman said behavioral tests her team performed on LEE mice suggest they engage in higher risk-taking behavior and show abnormal stress regulation and increased hyperactivity. “Thus, women should refrain from consuming alcohol during breastfeeding until more research can help recommend safe maternal practices in early infancy,” she added. Although researchers also advocate for women abstaining from alcohol consumption also during the prenatal period, Huffman said there are conflicting views about appropriate, safe drinking behaviors during the breastfeeding period. “We are aware of the disconnect between conclusions drawn from scientific literature and behaviors in many new mothers,” she said. Fetal alcohol exposure, from maternal consumption during pregnancy, has been a subject of investigation for about 50 years. Huffman’s laboratory at UCR has made groundbreaking discoveries, including that Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, or FASD, can be heritable, passing transgenerationally to at least the third generation. “We hope our work will increase public awareness of safe maternal practices,” Huffman said. Huffman was joined in the study by Roberto F. Perez Jr., Kathleen E. Conner, Dr. Michael A. Erickson, and Mirembe Nabatanzi. The research was funded by internal grants from UC Riverside.
