Morroyo and the M Tribe (headcanon and lore, Stormblood and Endwalker Healer Quests)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Screenshots from the Endwalker Healer Role Quests. Morroyo was born M'hroyo Tia, though technically he isn’t part of M’rahz Nunh’s Sun Seeker tribe. His father M'buya is an old friend and rival of M'rahz. According to the Wiki, the M tribe used to be so large that the Clan actually had *two* Nunhs (leaders) at one point. Unfortunately, war with the Garleans decimated the male warrior population, and other males left to establish tribes of their own. M'buya left the tribe to start his own branch of the M clan in the Sagolii in Thanalan (Morroyo's clan). Morroyo has heard of M’rahz from his father, but didn’t meet him until the events of Stormblood took him to Ala Mhigo. He returned to the M tribe during the Endwalker Healer Quests, when he carried a diplomatic letter to M’rahz. Both M’rahz and M’naago (one of Lyse’s friends in the resistance) are distantly related to Morroyo, several generations back.

for the ffxiv specbio stuff, do you headcanon the people on the First as having physically different traits from the people on the Source, or are they pretty one to one? and if so, were there any strange looks/social faux pas regarding the scions while on the First?
THIS IS REALLY INTERESTING ACTUALLY I think… that the species are all the same, mostly, but since they evolved/grew/colonized in/from different environments, there are definitely differences because of that. Like, say, dwarves not having any of the lalafells’ adaptations to sand, and instead having darkvision in their mining environments and more of a mole snout than a slit snout. Maybe being fuzzier overall. Or elves not having that split between duskwight (colorful, variant cave animal) and wildwood (forest animal). Heck there’s not a lot of elves at all, are there? Was their homeland just so concentrated that most of them were wiped? Another hard thing about this is the complete lack of knowledge we have of the regions before the Flood outside of Norvrandt! Or maybe just knowledge I have. Lol. I don’t have encyclopedia eorzea 2 or 3 just the first one… if anyone can hook me up with a First Lore Historian. I’d love to learn. Or with 50 bucks so I can grab the encyclopedia
And then, even, after the Flood, a lot of culture broke down in favor of communication and survival, so people just souped together. In short… ok. I think the First had a very fairytale vibe, so their designs should reflect that. I know drahn and galdjent have like a kingdom thing going on. There’s probably WAY less sea imagery and ocean features on roe in the first. More puppies than sea puppies, vaguely. More mountainy? Drahn I think are much more draconic than most Auri people, think fairytale dragon guys. They have the kind of customs that fairytale dragons and fae have, too, so it’s historically easy to say something odd to them and vice versa. Giants and dragons! I haven’t met a single elf except Ardbert’s friend. That’s an exaggeration but like no important npcs were elves. They seem very isolationist to me, very used to solo travel. Humes seem to have been mostly in kingdoms as well, like Ishgard, but less Catholic. They’re probably the most same. Garleans as a race of people do not exist on the First which is interesting. Ronso seem much more family-oriented, work-oriented, still cowboys, but very similar. I think the coeurl type hrothgar would be replaced with something else. Viis we know a lot about! They seem to be very similar as well, though I think just for fun for me, they’re Bigger. Like, taller, they’re isolated in a warm forest with plenty of prey and big magic energy. Viis big. Mystel I don’t know about, but they don’t SEEM to be desert cats, so I actually think. They don’t have undereye markings. Some of them have fold ears or domestic triangle cat ears rather than wild cat features. Familiar-like, not a lion pride — so they don’t have the same family structure miqote do either, it’s more like wolves where location and family are top tier. And Dwarves for sure have more mole than mouse features - thick claws on their toes and fingers, a little snoot, and very reflective eyes that are a bit sensitive to light.
As for social faux pas… I think that Miqote, to show they’re unserious or apologetic, bunt or touch the other cat, lay down or sit next to them, put their tail on the other’s tail, something physical — and Mystel will lick their lips and look away and NOT touch, because further touching is To Fight. Ari FOR SURE tried to lean on and got smacked by Kai-Shirr and then smacked him back in betrayal. It took Alphy intervention to fix that. It is also way more common for humes to grumble and growl than it is for hyur (that’s bad manners. Imagine you bumped into someone at the store and they growled at you), so there was one point where Ryne actually (quietly like a kid swearing for the first time) grrrd at a monster and thancred had a whole 20 minutes of thinking to himself wether or not this was OK feral child behavior to let her keep doing or if he should tell her not to or. Or what. What do here. Is this OK. And lastly..,,, lalafellin alcohol is pretty strong, but their beer and mead taste great so it’s a popular party drink. dwarven alcohol is INCREDIBLY strong, it contains an ingredient mildly toxic to every other race except mord. You are SUPPOSED to, however you decide to do it, last a number of mugs (if you’re a bigger race, dilute the thing with soda or juice, you might get teased but it’s what you do). Some people were not aware of this and passed out after one mug, and got pitiful beards drawn on them (Urianger’s wispy stubble was quite silly to the rest of the party)
I’d love to compile more abt the First just in general. maybe my ideas would change with more info … anyways! Thank u for letting me drop a very large text bubble :]

Having binge read a pretty large chunk of your headcannons now, I am curious what you have to say about miqo'te and au ra heats with non-miqote or au ra partners (also miqote/au ra partnerships).
Friendo I am so sorry, but in trying to answer this post I have inadvertently caused an avalanche of world-building between myself and several friends who were in a discord call with me when I asked for their perspectives and headcanons in the direction of this ask—so unfortunately I’ll have to get back to you in a few days time, but fortunately it will be with a Google doc full of collaborated ideas about the various playable races of FFXIV and how their breeding cycles cause them to have very unique cultural and physiological differences from one another.
Highlights include au ra outside of the steppe being capable of going horny-feral anytime the weather is Ideal™️ and viera having colorful euphemisms along the lines of having their fur coat blown out (amongst other things).
So you will have your original questions answered and thensome, because somehow we had five or so avid writers and FFXIV lore enthusiasts passionately talking about this concept in depth, down to individual clan differences and whatnot. Keep an eye out for when we try to post that thesis of a document 🤣

my headcanon for if m'iqote purr or not is i think its the equivalent of like snoring for them where they purr when theyre in a deeply comfortable sleep, but its also so goddamn loud and heavy that you basically wake up because it feels like an earthquake is happening in the bed
and other miqotes are so used to it that they dont even bring it up or consider it purring and therefore claim they dont do it because to them its just like snoring for us humans where we alwqys try to deny we snore while others argue we do loudly

Here's a part II to my original NSFW ffxiv headcanons! Someone requested an afab version :3
Some of the information below will be repeated and expanded on from P1 since it's relevant, but this post will focus mostly on the female sex and also delve a little more into reproduction. It's more technical in wording than the original post, mostly because I've spent more time thinking about this since then, fleshing out my ideas.
You're welcome to adopt parts of these for your own fics/headcanons/etc if you like them, I don't mind! You're also welcome to keep doing you if you don't. To each their own pussy. If you like pussy.
There is a lot of vulva talk under the cut. If you don't want to read about genitals then don't click the cut. There is also a version with illustrated diagrams on my Pillowfort(here), if you do not want to see vulvas, do not click the link. The post was intended to have the visual guide alongside it, but I have to leave these out on tumblr bc of content restrictions.
There is also some mention of the role of things like tail docking and food restriction to maintain body shapes, so if you're sensitive to these themes, read with care.
Descriptions of genitals are "averages" but ofc size, shape, color, hair content might vary significantly between individuals!
Miqote vulvas are pretty similar to Hyur in size, shape, and variation. It should be noted, however, that instead of pubic hair, Miqo'te women grow fur similar in texture to that of their tails, which may also be similarly patterned. Fur does not grow around the anus, leaving a smooth gap between the tail and mons pubis.
Most healthy Miqo'te have a "primordial pouch", a pair of fatty deposits around the lower abdomen, stretching to the start of the legs. It is generally soft and warm, used to insulate and as a bit of natural protection over their organs. A prominent pouch is considered attractive in traditional Tribal environments, where it represents being well fed. Though the novelty of its softness can be quite enjoyable to non-Miqo'te, some working as dancers or in Ul'dahn pleasure houses may be encouraged to restrict their diet and reduce its size so they might appear more conventionally appealing to patrons of other races.
Males do not have heat cycles, but females do. Females in heat have an extremely strong drive to mate that is often impairing to other senses, and bear a distinct scent which will arouse and attract male Miqo'te. Heats commonly last between 2-14 days, and reoccur every 2-3 weeks if medicines, magics, or potions are not used to limit it. If pregnancy occurs, heat will end "early" within the next day, and the heat cycle will be suspended until roughly a month after the end of the pregnancy.
Ovulation is induced by genital stimulation, particularly from the soft "barb" like structures on the surface of an erect Miqo'te penis. Pregnancy is possible outside of heat cycles and with amab partners who have smoother dicks, but both are extremely uncommon.
Because they are induced ovulators and have heat cycles, Miqo'te do not menstruate.
Pregnancy lasts about seven months. Fraternal twins and even triplets are extremely common, and may have different fathers. Miqo'te children learn to climb often before they can even walk very well, and infants are known to put this to use escaping cribs and getting on top of furniture where they absolutely shouldn't be
------------
(Note this section is subject to potentially significant rewriting if we ever get playable female Hroths and more lore)
Hrothgar vaginas are relatively small, though the single set of labia around it are quite large by comparison and covered in short, thick fur, joining in a point near the top. The clitoris is deeper inside the vagina and not usually visible from the outside. There is a small hairless patch directly around the anus, but otherwise the nether regions are entirely covered in fur.
Like Miqo'te, Hrothgar often have primordial pouches around their lower stomach and upper legs. These tend to be less common in Hrothgar, however, and less prominent. They are visually more obscured by fur, and may not be noticed without being touched.
They have a heat cycle and traits similar to Miqo'te, however, female Hrothgar only go into heat every 3-4 months. Cross-race pregnancies for Hrothgar mothers are especially rare, as the barbed penis of male Hrothgar is necessary to stimulate ovulation. Mating between Hrothgar can be painful because of these barbs, so it's probably not done for pleasure much outside of heats, unless the gal's really into masochism.
Because they are induced ovulators and have heat cycles, Hrothgar do not menstruate.
Pregnancy lasts around 9 months, and while twins are far more common than in other races, usually only a single child is born.
------------
Viera vulvas are not terribly different from Hyurs, though on average tend to have much larger labia and prepuce, and a smaller vagina. The clitoris is quite large and erects significantly when aroused. Viera naturally grow a lot of pubic hair, which if left unshaved will typically completely obscure the genitals.
Viera are born with fluffy tails that curl upward to around the small of the back. In traditional villages, these are usually docked off of infants and magic may even be used to remove the scarring during the healing process. It is not widely discussed with outsiders, to whom it often appears that some Viera have tails while others do not.
Female viera have no heat cycle. Ovulation occurs during arousal and genital stimulation. Because they are induced ovulators, Viera do not menstruate.
Pregnancy lasts around 18 months, but can go on as long as two years, at which point a single child completely devoid of hair is born. Twins are very rare.
------------
Au Ra vaginas are tucked inside a scale-covered cloaca. The cloaca is the only rear orfice, concealing also the urethra and anus. This slit is convex (curving inward) usually, but when aroused, will convex out as it swells. The cloacal entrance usually does not reveal anything internal on its own, and must be pried open (y'know, with a dick. or fingers. or a toy.) However, during orgasm, it's known to "flash" open in time with spasms.
The "labia" are fused to the walls of the cloaca and large. While the vagina appears narrow between these and the large clitoris, it can be stretched open fairly wide. Note that "fairly wide" is relative - Au Ra women are quite small and races like Roegadyn and Hrothgar would likely cause pain if their dicks were forced in very deep. Small dicks are generally preferred, unless, like that Hrothgar lady, you're into it.
Au Ra do not have heats, but do have yearly "mating seasons" when the drive to reproduce is stronger for both sexes, and offspring are more likely to be conceived. Outside of these conditions, Au Ra females enter a period of estivation where their reproductive cycle is suspended. This may lead to decreased interest in non-reproductive sex. Au Ra do not menstruate.
Pregnancy lasts around 5-6 months. Au Ra children are born extremely small, but grow quickly and from one year up until about 10 years of age, tend to be larger than children of the same age in other races.

do your miqote have claws though??
I actually keep going back and forth on this! I dunno what it is but I find it hard to picture F'yllis specifically with claws and a lot of my headcanons for Miqo'te tend to get 'tested' on her first I guess lmao But I do love the idea of it and I know lots of people do headcanon them with claws so I think it's kind of in that 'maybe some miqo do have claws and others don't'.

All my WoLs exist in the same universe, but only the Katarhs are shards of Azem. The Azem shard had a perfect copy made due to an Echo accident time burp roundabouts the 5th Astral Era, but they usually don't reincarnate at the same time unless there's a Calamity on the way. And they also usually don't meet; it was sheer coincidence that they both did when Katarh the Younger was an infant (and its because Katarh the Elder saved her mother that they share the same name.)
In my WoL universe, Emet Selch was their dad and Hythlodaeous their stepdad.
(This is why he hated the Crystal Exarch and G'raha in particular, even if he'd never admit it in a million years.)
Katarh the Younger's (Miqote) husbando: G'raha Tia. I shipped them back in ARR when Crystal Tower raids were current content. Then he got kidnapped by the Tower due to the Allagan blood overriding his will, and broke her heart. She was so happy to get him back. They're quietly engaged now that the world ending crisis is over, but the wedding is on hold due to Dawntrail.
Katarh the Elder's (Highlander) husbando: Haurchefant. After he died, she married her wife Eveline as a marriage of convenience so Eve could get Gridanian citizenship. (Go go gadget bi powers!)
Weirdly enough, I ship NPCs with other NPCs rather than my WoLs. More headcanons and crackships are under the break.
Estinien is currently getting headcanon crackshipped with Zero. (Reunion pending canon.) I've got a half dead fanfic with this one I probably should finish out before Dawntrail....
Aymeric is always headcanon shipped with Lucia. They just keep it quiet because Ishgard has had bigger problems to deal with. (Another fanfic I never finished. But the staff at Borel Manor is starting to get antsy about the lack of heirs and dropping hints about a "big social occasion like a wedding being just what the nation needs to heal.")
Urianger is currently getting headcanon shipped with Thancred.
Hien is currently getting headcanon crackshipped with Lyse. (Yet another fanfic I never finished.)
Magnai is currently getting headcanon crackshipped with Yugiri.
Hades and Hythlodaeous are always shipped, forever and ever. Hythlo and my WolAncient!Azem (Hecate) were besties even if he was technically her stepdad. Hecate was taken in by Venat!Azem as an apprentice with full intention of promoting her to the Convocation, and when the seat of Emet-Selch came up with no obvious successor, it was Hecate that casually dropped that both her dads had perfect aethersight. Hythlo refused the position, but Hades grudgingly accepted, mostly so he could continue to be a helicopter parent. (But he was also really really really good at the job.) Venat retired much much later, so Emet-Selch held his seat a lot longer than my WoL!Azem, even though he hadn't been trained for the job.
Zenos is headcanon shipped with nobody. Because he's dead. But he was definitely a one sided stalker to my WoLs, especially the Hyur half. If Emet-Selch had known just how obsessed with Highlander Katarh Zenos was, he'd have punched him himself.
Elidibus gets shipped with Themus. Unfortunately, Little Bus has to wait another reincarnation cycle to be with his forever boytoy in present times. (Don't worry, Venat failsafed him back to the Source's aetherial sea just like Hythlo and Emet in my headcanon universe. They'll get another chance in a hundred years.)
Gaius gets shipped with nobody in my head except his regrets. Maybe he's ace or aromantic. You don't need to have a partner to ooze mega dad energy.

Do you think Miqo’te do the wiggle and pounce when something fast moves past them? or if they see a feather?
As a people, Miqo’te have always been hunters at heart, be it as much for the literal chase putting dinner on the table as it is the burning wanderlust of finding new lands and people to experience. Keeper and Seeker alike, every Miqo’te is born with a yearning heart and a beautiful tenacity that has kept them thriving despite the numerous displacements and misunderstandings of culture over the last several eras.
... so of course, please try to be aware of this history when your Miqo’te partner decides to leap whole-body onto your back after you thought it would be a great idea to prank them and run away on the assumption that you’d be quicker. I don’t care how endearing they look when their ears wiggle or their tail flicks when it happens! Because here’s a note of advice: they are always faster, some of them have bloodlines that were perfected to hunt BEARS.
If several hundred pounds of angry grizzly can’t outrun a hell-bent Miqo’te on a hunt, then you sure as heck won’t.
