SPRING FEVERISH (ORIGINAL) and SPRING FEVERISH (2024!)

The original Spring Feverish series ran from 2017 to 2019, probably not consistently—I have not looked over each of them to see exactly, but I think there were four and then I added one at random two years later. That seems like a really long time ago at this point, so it’s almost uncomfortable to promote them (I do really like the Miniature Moon one. Was one of the neater things I have made. I also like the garter one and the last one, although that one was abbreviated from a larger shawl and I kinda wish I’d finished writing the bigger version. I knit two of them! They must have been pretty engaging! I took cool photos of the rust-colored one!).

Now that I’m revisiting the idea (a pattern series under the constraints that everything had to be small projects, headband/neckerchiefs or at least kerchief-adjacent, and sort of decent for transitional weather both as projects and finished objects (so even without the kerchief/tiny shawl constraint, mittens wouldn’t work—they won’t be unpleasant to work on if it’s warm, but you can’t wear them right away)) in 2024, I’m wondering if I lost sight of the small-project aspect a little. All of these are much more involved; they’re probably more process-knitter friendly. They’re still one-skein designs, but they’ll take more than an afternoon from start to finish. I think it makes them more versatile, and I hope it won’t make them less appealing.

Anyway, old work! New work soon, but—the older work probably fits a slightly different (quicker) project impulse, while the new ones will be more contemplative.

I hope I’m not making mindless sleep deprived connections when I say this, but I just noticed that Milsiril tends to wear bigger and longer clothing around her children. Which gave me the thought oh she probably wears them to hide her scars from her children..but I also suck at forming words so y’all are just gonna have to trust me on this one.

What really caught my attention was these two arts of her wearing two really baggy looking pieces of clothing. In both of these situations she’s with her young children.

Please bear with meee here cuz I know in most of her panels she's in the canary uniform, so we only get to see her in her non work clothes once. In this one extra, her scars visible and she is wearing a short dress, but what I want to highlight is that she is with only elves here.

Here is more of her wearing clothing that covers some of her arms! I like to note that in all instances she’s with Kabru..

(Even in the first panel she is wearing those arm bracelets that cover up most of her skin in a way. She doesn't always wear them but they're an interesting addition imo.)

BUT This is what sells me a little is this scene from this chapter. Where Milsiril is playing the soft and protective Mother role, feeding Kabru cake, almost kinda baby talking him. She’s using her shawl (?) to cover her arms. Til Kabru brings up the dungeon and wanting to be “strong like her” is when her shawl slowly begins to fall off her shoulders each panel and reveals some nasty scars.

Taking at look at the "Strong like you." panel (middle image, first panel in the middle row) it particularly peeks my interest because I’m so sure Kui did that on purpose. Not to mention when the tone shifts completely and we see Milsiril looking rather scary. This time her scars are on full display.

So going off of the last few panels, I’m going to personally assume she tries to cover them around her children so they don't have any feelings of uneasiness or fear around her. In the instance with Kabru, it’s almost like she's trying to install some fear in him whether that’s to drive him away from the dungeon or just show him what exploring in the dungeon is really like. Whatever is the real reason to all of this is beyond me.

A giant shawl made entirely from yarn I spun on my hand spindles. 27 Mini Skeins, 1/2 of a skein and 4 full 100g skeins. Some parts are soft, others are a bit scratchy. But it’s very, very warm.

the yarn i'm using isn't a true ombre, it's a gradient palette of solids, so i'm cheating a little bit and using row-by-row leapfrogging to get the transitional effect. this works out great, actually, even though strand management is a bit of a bear, because i had to get a second skein pack to make up the yardage and even the most meticulous hand-dye is going to take differently skein to skein - by leapfrogging like that even on the solid sections, i can equalize any tonal differences between the skeinpack AND maintain the row pattern for the transition stripes at the same time!

the castle of otranto skein pack i'm using was created by teatime fibers (also on ravelry!), and i am SO jazzed to be working with it, this yarn is DELICIOUS to handle. the skein pack itself was a little pricey, but you know what, it's dracula season and i deserve a little treat ;3c

had a very nice day today. did some chores i've been meaning to do, and i feel better for it (room is cleaner) got some soda can pop tabs from some trash my dad got (they are soaking rn they were NASTY) and i even got some silly stuff from the halloween store >:) and i had a cool outfit on the whole time WAHOO

Current state of the shawl! I know the photo is at a bit of an odd angle, but the shawl is knit on the bias, and will essentially form a long parallelogram. You can see, somewhat anyhow, the open areas that the yarn-overs create in the pattern. I'm pretty happy with the colors so far and the way things are working up. It looks stripier here than I feel like it does in person (other than that transition from the green mini-skein into the knitpicks muse speckled yarn). I'm close ( knock on wood - i swear i am never so superstitious as hen I'm knitting and scared of errors or crises) to finishing this skein of Muse, and will be going on to the first skein of Wildflower Yarn's Unicorn Poop (:DDDDD - the name gets me very time, smile inducing)

I feel like I am the slowest knitter ever, and I am going to be making this thing til idk armageddon, the universe dies its cold death, or I can find a pair of shoes that makes my feet look cute (the first two are more likely - TRUST.) . However, the fabric is soft and so *bouncy*; it is eminently squishable! This color palette too just is a joy to look at. It's a lucky charms marshmallow of a thing, a my little pony pastel princess of a shawl. So, if i can manage to finish it before the end of forever (without any disasters- told you, superstitious when knitting... (¬_¬)' ) I think I just might love curling up in this thing.

i spent vacation at my native

and look i know they're ridiculously conservative.

but, BUT the fucking culture is so beautiful it makes my heart hurt

i got the chance to participate in the pongal thiruvilla and i was so in awe

even though i got back to town a couple days back, im still in my slightly ridiculous hyperfixation over traditional clothes.

because like, usually traditional wear is like, facy and sparkly and honestly quite uncomfortable.

but what about the casual traditional wear? what about simple blouses and lightweight pavadais? what of flowy underskirts and cotton sarees?

what if you take out the pattu from pattu pavadai, and end up with a gorgeous and casual outfit practically meant for frolicking in fields?

what if you replace the mesh davanis and embellished fabric with bold coloured fabric and simple skirts.

INDIA REALLY NEEDS TO START EMBRACING OUR CULTURE, AND STOP ASSOCIATING ETHINIC WEAR WITH DISCOMFORT.

Hii! Is it alright to request headcanons for the M6 cradling the MC like a baby? The LI's know that it makes the MC feel better and safe whenever they're sad because it makes them feel important and cared for (since, yk, babies are usually the ones held tight, rocked back and forth and treated gently because they're a bit more fragile)

As a routine Luffy woke up because he got hungry in the middle of the night. He slowly walked towards the kitchen even though he knew Sanji would throw him into the ocean if he ate the meat which is supposed to be tomorrow’s breakfast. But he knew, that meat now is worth being thrown into the sea.

“Going somewhere Luffy?”, your voice made him to stop in his tracks. He slowly turned towards you and smiled sheepishly. The pink cheeks of your captain made you to chuckle.

“So…. I woke up because I wanted to eat something. Got hungry y’know”, you nodded and took his hand. The sound of the waves along with the moon light, it seemed absolutely beautiful. His hand was warm. You both walked into the aquarium room. After you turned on the light, you let his hand go to fetch the secret box of food that you kept hidden.

“You- You have food here”, his eyes light up as soon as you placed the box in his hands.

“Yes, I keep it here hidden, even I get hungry late at nights”, you winked.

“Truly Y/N, I am so happy today”, he said as he started to eat.

“This is our secret, don’t let anyone know about this, especially Sanji”, you placed a finger on your lips as he nodded in enthusiasm. You chuckled, thinking how this so-called secret would be out by the next day. But what mattered the most was that he was not hungry anymore.

You closed the empty box and he was feeling sleepy. A smile formed on your face as you shook his shoulders. “Captain, Don’t sleep while you are still sitting”.

His drowsy eyes scanned the place and noticed Robin’s shawl. His hand stretched to grab the shawl. While the hand travelled back, you were also caught in his grasp. With a swift motion, you were in his arms laying beside him, with the shawl covering you both.

“Let’s just… sleep here for now. I don’t wanna… go back”, he yawned making your cheeks turn red, “You can hold me… tight… if you are cold”. With that the man was already knocked out but at what cost?!! Were you going to sleep if he was so close? With so many thoughts running in your mind, you didn’t even realize when you fell asleep.

The next day, by the time you got up, he was awake but still sleepy. Luffy became muscular during the 2 years of training which wasn’t invisible. But looking at him so close made it even more prominent.

“Mor..ning”, he yawned as a small tear drop formed on the corner of his eye, due to his sleepiness.

“Go.. good morning luffy”, you managed to speak and got up. Rushing to the bathroom was a small word to what you were feeling.

You freshened up then went to eat breakfast, thinking how your secret would be out by now. But to your surprise, no one seemed to talk about it. ‘So… he did keep it a secret’, you covered your face with one of your hands as your eyes met Luffy. He threw you a gentle smile without knowing the consequences it rose in your heart.

That day night, you were unsure if Luffy would come but you waited with two boxes of food near the aquarium room. On dot at 12AM, like yesterday, he was in the room with a smile on his face. Oh his smile was like a virus to you. Making you smile as he came and sat next to you, with him eating his box. Both of you talked and laughed as you ate your food. Like yesterday, he pulled you closer and fell asleep beside you.

This became a routine. Everynight both of you slept beside eachother. You both wished good morning after you both woke up in each other’s arms. The comfort of being beside Luffy made you to feel… safe and happy. One day, you woke up before Luffy and went to on the deck to make the cool breeze caress you in advance you go and train for the day. Zoro who was on night watch, got set to get inside as he saw you. You waved to him as he nodded.

Then to your surprise, you felt the rubber arms hold your waist and pull you up towards the roof of the aquarium room. Luffy hugged your form and sighed.

“Don’t just… go away without saying good morning. It… it isn’t warm if you aren’t beside me like usual”, he said as his grip tightened around you two. His arms covered you and him twice. How hard did his feelings just got hurt because of not being beside him when he woke up?

Your heart was pounding with the feelings Luffy was showing to you. “Sorry Luffy, I’ll make sure to stay beside you when you wake up”, you hugged him back.

He pulled back a little and said, “Good morning”.

That made you to giggle. “Good morning Luffy”.
