Historically Andrew does not get along with his personal guards so Day assumes the worst when finally turning him over to Abram

Andrew having no regrets is bullshit. You think he didn't regret ever being born the second he said he'd blow Neil? You think this man didn't have to suck it up and keep acting cool so Neil wouldn't realize how much control Andrew doesn't have? You think saying that shit and not giving a fuck about the answer is realistic? This guy was already a little in love with Neil. There's no way he didn't have a little bit of a stomach drop moment at the idea of rejection.

He probably said those words and shriveled up and died a little on the inside. He gave Neil a sexuality crisis. Luckily Neil is open minded.

But if Neil rejected him. If he said no, or never brought it up again, I wonder if Andrew would acknowledge regretting it? At least to himself. Or would he bury the feelings, and smother that little spark until he was as indifferent to Neil as he is to the rest of the foxes?

I absolutely HATE how Kevin Day gets treated by the fandom like he’s this overly cowardly person that has no right to be traumatized because he didn’t have it as “bad” as characters like Andrew or Neil or Jean. Like??? First off, people’s traumas (even if they are fictional) shouldn’t be compared to each other??? Yes, there are DIFFERENCES in traumatic experiences and their severity but that doesn’t mean that peoples reactions to their trauma needs to reflect that.

Throughout the series, Kevin is trying to do his best and play a game that was the exact thing that was associated with his abuser. He was with Riko and Tetsuji for YEARSSSSSS and throughout the series he is trying to stand up against his abusers, people who have so much power that Kevin is aware of first hand, and people try to act like he is weak or cowardly and dramatic??? He does he succeed in standing up to them numerous times throughout the series, but even if he didn’t he is still directly facing the very people who he was essentially trapped with that caused him trauma.

His experiences in life differ from the other aftg characters (just like how EVERYONE does) which means that obviously his reactions are going to be different from others. Saying that he is weak or annoying or overly dramatic with his very realistic and real reactions to his literal abusers is just. so fucked.

Also, before going to the Moriyama’s Kevin was able to have at least a partially normal and loving childhood with his mom, and then getting that ripped away from him? That ALONE is enough to fuck someone up.

Anyways, you can’t compare traumas and peoples reactions to them!!! This turned into a massive ramble that doesn’t even make much sense, but in conclusion: I LOVE KEVIN DAY!

Sometimes I wish I could run away like Neil did at the beginning of the books or be as intimidating as Andrew was to the upper classmen before Neil bridged that gap.

I just feel lost and angry and scared and I don't have a pipe dream or a key to call home and I wish I could find those in more than the books I read and the sound of the birds outside my window.

Neil and Andrew were looking for dreams to have that would keep them grounded and they found that in each other on the foundation of being heard and understood and respected.

But what do I have?

What can I find in a world that is determined to keep me falling apart just enough to keep me exhausted but working.

I just want to be heard and understood and respected.

I want to give someone a key.

I want them to call it home.

I want to stop running.

I want nothing.

The hushed whispers of "yes or no" between crashing waves.

I just want a place to rest.

But where do I find that?

Andrew doesn't get jealous. Instead he gets unbearably smug. How?

He's pretty much the only one who can make Neil laugh freely. He begins to crack jokes in public on purpose. I did that, he thinks all smug and proud and staring and memorizing and basking and

Neil has several smiles, some small like his My Foxes smile, some he wipes off his face like his I Get It From My Dad smile. But his best smile is his My Drew Smile, and Andrew takes great satisfaction in making it appear where others can see. I did that, he thinks all self satisfied while he preens and stares and

Neil doesn't really care for too many non-practical things as gifts. The Foxes have mastered buying him things he'll actually enjoy - Exy gear, running shoes, some secret third thing I can't think of. But Andrew? Andrew realized that anything he gets Neil is an instant hit. Especially if Andrew made it himself. Cue Andrew getting into woodworking and making Neil wooden trinkets - mini foxes and mini rabbits and mini exy rackets. Andrew wins every Gift Giving Spectacle when Neil gets that Look on his face: not just delight but utter Cherish. all of two people asked and i have a hard time shutting up SO the idea was after morning practice they decided to go to a diner to get breakfast but it's more a burgers and fries kinda deal. kevin is drinking black coffee bc it's the healthiest thing on the menu aside from water and he needs caffeine to stay awake for an afternoon class. neil is drinking water bc he's boring and i think andrew is drinking coca cola (it was almost a milkshake but i got lazy). i think andrew was eating waffles but he ripped apart the remnants bc it's andrew which is why his food looks like that. neil was the first to go for the crayons and start doodling but andrew got bored of just watching and joined in (can you spot the blue knife?) kevin felt left out and drew the little corner sun. they started tic tac toe and quit half way through when it was obvious it would be a tie. andrew is wearing a metallica shirt and neil is wearing a jaws shirt that he stole from andrew (i think aaron is actually the one who made neil watch the movie bc "seriously josten, you've never seen jaws? that's pathetic even by your standards"). kevin is going on about exy and everything they did wrong during practice, neil joins in but is more focused on his little paw doodles and andrew just tunes him out as per usual. i'd like to think this a diner they go to a lot and are semi regulars. that is my hc for the final piece but in the initial stages they were going to go to a sushi joint bc i got this idea at work and i work at a japanese restaurant so for half the process of drawing this neil was holding chopsticks but i drew the wrong background and was like "well guess we're eating american food now" but i didn't want to draw him holding a fork bc the hand placement is different so that's how they ended up with crayons. personally, i like the change. maybe they'll get sushi next time.

Anon I love you so much because you have no idea how much I ask this to myself on a regular basis. A couple weeks ago I was walking to work whilst brainstorming Jeremy Knox music headcanons and almost died to the tune of Believe by Cher while crossing the street. (Embarrassing, but also, what a way to go)

after changing my mind about 700 times, I decided that Jeremy, at least on a surface level, will dance/sing to literally any popular song with a good beat, (whether or not he actually sings the right lyrics is always 50/50) but he does love to sing. This comes from a tumblr post I saw like years ago saying that Jean takes a video of Jeremy singing Kylie Minogue’s “Your Disco Needs You” at 3am, and now that’s just canon Jeremy to me.

Jeremy was a kid in the 90s so TONS of 90s nostalgia stuff, all upbeat. Song 2, All star, What is love, Baby one more time, Tubthumping, all the catchy earworms he would hear on the radio and belt out as a kid. (It’s @kevinsdsy’s fault song 2 was the first on this list. The Jeremy Knox blur brainrot is real)

Jeremy, having heard these songs as a kid, knows all the lyrics just by memory. Even he doesn’t know about this until Cat plays Ricky Martin on her boombox and all of a sudden Jer is on the table with a solo cup microphone.

(“isn’t he only attracted to men?”Jean whispers to Cat as they watch Jeremy belt out ‘She Bangs’ in the most enthusiastic way possible.

“Honestly, l didn’t even think about that. I’m just pissed that they’re only playing the English version”, Cat whispers back)

Jeremy is also notorious for dancing to other team’s entrance songs when they walk on the court. The Breckenridge Jackals, for example, walk on court to Who Let the Dogs out, and Jer unironically uses that as pump up music. He aggressively nods his head to the beat of Let’s Get it Started when Penn State walks out. This leads to many (many) YouTube compilations titled something along the lines of “10 mins straight of Jeremy Knox shaking ass to his opponent’s anthems”

BUT also, privately, on his little 2006 iPod Mini (lol remember those), Jeremy listens to more alt rock (modern-day dad rock), like Muse, The Killers, Queens of The Stone Age etc… (this is based on a lighter version of the style of music Nora assigned to Andreil in the EC, and also my personal taste from that time period). I think it’s what he listens to on bad days, either bc he needs to drown out his depressing thoughts after seeing his family, or bc he isn’t quite mentally ready to fully process the insane truths Jean reveals on a day to day basis. Also days where he’s feeling more in-tune with his emotions and stuff.

anyway, I’m sorry, this got really long. I guess the tl;dr would be: imo, In TSC Jeremy loves to sing and dance to literally any popular 90s/early 00’s song bc that’s just who he is but privately on bad days he likes 2000’s alt rock.
