The Children of Peshawar : A Nation at a Loss for Words on 16/12.
Itâs only when events as horrific as 16/12 happen, you stop and realize how you can feel a throng of emotions all at once. Grief, disgust, horror, anger, anguish, indifference, apathy, empathy, and sympathy are enough emotions to feel simultaneously to question the world as you know it.
A hundred and thirty two children, were attacked and brutally murdered by the Taliban militants in an army-run school in Peshawar. Imprinted in my memory forever will be the events of 16/12/2014, in words of some of the greatest writers:
12:18pm
Security officials say there are at least 6 attackers inside the building- Tribune
âI was within and without, simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.â ~ F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
12:29pm
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemns the attack and says those behind the heinous act will not be spared.
"It's called thieves get rich and saints get shot. It's called God don't answer prayers a lot." ~ Merrily We Roll Along
3:22pm
With the tragic incident escalating, the death toll has now risen to over 120. Further, two fresh blasts have been heard from within the vicinity and firing is still going on.
âThe more I see of the world, the more I am dissatisfied with it; and every day confirms my belief of the inconsistency of all human characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of merit or sense.â ~ Pride and Prejudice
 1:44 am
At least 141 people, including 132 children and nine staff members of the school, were killed when unidentified armed men opened fire on an army-run school in Peshawar on Tuesday.
âIt's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.â ~ Chuck Palahniuk
When you lose your children, you lose everything. It is now, you tune out all your petty issues, deadlines, emails to send, to-dos to cross out, regimes to follow and vices to give up and really think what is it that you would like to do with the time you have been given here in this world.
There must be hundred ways to rebuild and I hope there are a hundred more people for every idea, willing to do it for their country.
But there is only one way to rebuild childhood; through stories. Through childrenâs books.
Back to the basics. Back to the libraries.
Education is love for knowledge, love for reading, and love for books.
Libraries are the most dangerous schools.

THE TREES WE KILLED. BECAUSE FUCK TREES.
Not all books are useful. Some we print as a reaction to our ongoing squabble with trees & not growing more for some reason. Itâs too much effort anyway.
But thatâs not what we are here to discuss. Here are some of the most senseless books published in the history of tree slaying.Â
New & improved!
Read no further.
By the author of : If god loves me, why can't I get my locker open?
The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair by Swiss author Joël Dicker, and I quote from the book: its criminal, cutting down trees to print crap like this.
And I always wondered...
Fuck trees. That's why!

EAT YOUR BOOKS. READ YOUR VEGETABLES.
You are 80%, what you eat and 20%, everything else you do. Including reading. Here is how you can be healthier, in just 5 books:
65 % of our body is made out of water. Get yourself a copy of I am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes. Popularly known as âthe only thriller you need to read this yearâ or 2015âs blockbuster starring Brad Pitt, I am Pilgrim will leave you cotton-mouthed.
Who doesnât know the wonders of salad? Who does really want one? Perhaps only when you read about the horrors of an abusive father gnawing on his three-year-old in The First Days (As the World Dies #1) by Rhiannon Frater, you will find new ways to appreciate more vegetables, less meat.
Oranges are not the only fruit. No, seriously. If thatâs the only fruit you like then its time you add a variety. And let this book be a reminder.
Must taste the forbidden fruit. Must read some banned books. Yes, Animal Farm by George Orwell is banned as well. #12 on to-read list.Â
And yeah, eat an apple a day too.
Itâs all about mind over matter! Read 3 Cups of Tea with a cup of coffee, till your caffeine cravings are satisfied & hushed.
Developing healthy habits, such as eating well and reading right, require patience, but most importantly, persistence.
I recommend you do both everyday. In small amounts, but everyday.Â

LIVE FROM THE BOOK NOOK
It may take you an hour to start a blog but the first blog post can take its sweet time. Thatâs the thing with firsts. You procrastinate, then over-think and expect to succeed in your first attempt. But somehow you are sure that itâs now or never. And letâs settle this NOW, once and for all:
Can I write or not?
A lazy person's predicament, like myself, is such:
 A novel? Too big.
 A childrenâs book? Too small.
 A short story? Too short.
 A poem? Not my thing.
 A blog? No casualties.
Blog it is.
Million Copies Sold is a book nook. I like this place. It feels like a cubby-hole; a small, snug place, where time stops. The first thing youâll notice is the inordinate amount of books, trinkets and more books, on the shelves like mementos. A collection of hardbacks, paperbacks, special editions, and no first editions, bone china, pack-up-and-go model car, ship in a bulb, a matryoshka doll, and bookmarks have been amassed over the years, and though itâs completely over-the-top, it somehow works.
Here, youâll find me, archiving the ordinary, somedays with a story and mostly without one, And today is one out of most days. On such days we will speak off the cuff.
Here is a short piece, written by a friend, inspired by a real book nook.
Somewhere, a child cries. I feel nothing.
Somewhere, a nook just sits there
hoping I'll finish this damn book.
I feel nothing.
My hot chocolate cries out for a marshmallow.
And I feel nothing.
 I am so depressed.
 Till next time.
