How often do you write?
It depends a lot on what’s going on around me at the moment. My moods tend to be kinda extreme, so either I’m in a really creative zone and feel capable to do everything and anything, or I’m in a place where everything feels meaningless and I don’t want to put anything out there ever again. I think I still write pretty regularly, it’s more the finish-and-share part that changes.
Do you have a routine for writing?
If I’m in the process of writing a story that I intend to finish and post, then I’m usually very focused on it, and can barely pause. A lot (or most?) of my stuff has been finished at like, 3 in the morning, usually accompanied by lots of chocolate and probably a tumbler of whiskey. That might not sound very healthy, but it’s what usually works best for me -- I often find it hard to focus during the day, there are just too many distractions. But a quiet afternoon alone can also be very rewarding. I also tend to go deep in imagining the setting and the characters’ emotions, much like I’d do acting (just... a lot less disciplined).
What’s your favorite kinks/tropes/pairing?
Kinks: ... Raffles and Bunny kissing tenderly. I cannot get enough of it.
Tropes: I don’t really know if I have one. I think themes would be a better word, and in that case: nature, hope, healing, love.
Pairings: Raffles & Bunny take up most of my time. I have written Holmes & Watson in the past, and would like to do again at some point, but I need Raffles and Bunny a lot, and in a way I feel like they need me more as well? There are just a lot of stories about them I want to tell.
Do you have a favorite fic of yours?
It’s impossible to choose, because I have several favourites for different reasons. Right now I think After the Funeral is my favourite, it’s very short but it was a fill-in-the-blank that I had wanted (needed) to do for a very long time, and I was careful in crafting it and I’m satisfied with how it turned out.
Your fic with the most kudos?
That would be Baker Street Irregularities for Holmes and White Wings of Yuletide for Raffles -- they are both Christmas stories. I don’t consider neither my best work (rather my most rushed), and don’t put that much focus on kudos rates, even though it’s fun to see people are reading, but rather on the comments people leave -- that’s what makes it feel like it’s had some sort of impact.
Anything you don’t like about your writing?
I still feel very insecure at times navigating the English language, and sometimes worry about people cringing while reading my stories because of clumsy wording/sentence building, and worry that I’ll never be more than decent. But still, I’m learning a lot, and it’s fun.
Now something you do like?
I feel like I’m pretty good with symbolism -- it’s something I’ve always had a great weakness for, in any sort of storytelling, and I apply it a lot myself.
Tagging... anyone who would like to do this? Even if I usually tag you in these kind of things or not, consider yourself tagged!
