— u and i both have a lot of conversations about this and i'm sure we'll post ranty posts about this in the near future but. i'm tired of the lack of respect asian cultures get. they're used as aesthetics, interchanged, mocked, fetishized, and then disregarded when they don't suit what people want out of it. not entirely unpopular opinion, but it might as well be with how literally the entire world treats it llsgjlskdgskd

— as someone who's made blogs for and have tried to initiate interactions with original characters, AND have struggled to get those interactions — i do think a lot of interactions, or lack thereof, can be attributed to the lack of content or effort put out. usually. like i usually think it's the case. like it obvs sucks that ppl with ocs need to put in more work, but sometimes u just gotta. whether it's making verses, adding more info about the lore, breaking lengthy info down into something digestible ( bullets bc lbr not everyone will read novels of info nor will they retain it ). this is aside from people blatantly ignoring the effort you put in, thats a whole diff thing. but if i struggle to int with ocs it's bc there's nothing for me to work with and sometimes. SOMETIMES i fear the information just isn't digestible for me and i cannot like, visualize? the character beyond words on a page................ yeah idk. i think bullet lists are really good in getting important info out in a quick and easy way to supplement a novel biography ( esp if it has heavy prose ).

honestly i'd say number one is to learn all the shortcuts for actions (two finger tap for undo,, three finger tap for redo, etc) to speed up the whole process. there's lotsa tuts on yt that go through them all!!

i'd also just generally learn what everything is/what it's function is. like if you don't know what alpha lock is you might be torturing yourself with cleaning edges when you dont need to kinda thing, or trying to blend with colours when you can try the smudge tool instead, or not using clipping masks to make your life easier, and so on

i know everyone says this and it sounds tired but i promise you, reference and practice work. you're fueling your brain's internal library and learning way faster!!

id prob play around with brushes and find a handful to favourite and play around with the most when you start off, it has a lot of choices but it can be a bit overwhelming so i'd stick with a few to start with, and switch up if something doesn't feel 'right.' (it has a lot of cool texture brushes but imo it's better to start with the simple brushes and move up) this is a personal thing, but as someone who gets brainbored when sketching sometimes, i throw effect layers over top to make it feel more appealing to me. whether it's a colour wash or something that creates a neat contrast, i think it helps me feel like it looks more neat/slightly more finished?? idk if this is just a me thing but it makes me feel better when i'm playing around lol

i would also recommend duplicating brushes you kinda like but dont feel quite right, and play around with the brush creation settings! it's pretty thorough and fun to see what you can come up with. some of my staple brushes are just basic default airbrushes that i tinkered with a bunch. there's also a tooooon of free brush packs online, would recommend browsing and see if any speak to you!!

i will say procreate is pretty fantastic with the price/usability balance, but the thing that's made me steer away from 'finishing' pieces in it over the last 6 months or so is it's colour blending can be fuuuunky and it doesn't have correction layers (yet?). which is why i will send my procreate sketches to my comp to finish them in csp x) tis absolutely a banger to learn digital in though!! play around and have fun!!

I might be done building my computer. I know, I know, it was up and running like 2 weeks ago but tonight I finally finished installing the last planned thing. My speakers are mounted on a shelf above the monitor which is much harder than it sounds. (mounting a vesa mount through a heavy shelf turned out to be much more complex than expected. Mounting speakers designed to sit on a shelf to a shelf that sits at a 45 degree angle = PRETTY EFFING TRICKY. I did it. It's a wee bit janky but I did it. Because the jankiness is clear, it's not actually visually awkward.)

I put in an AIO water cooler for the processor and magically it cleared enough space for airflow that the GPU, which is air cooled, is also much cooler. The front fans are all black now.

The cables are managed.

The fans are set to a mixed curve that means they respond to the hottest components rather than just one component. (AIO radiator set to the higher of the cpu or gpu, exhaust, all other fans set to the hottest of the PCH, GPU or memory.) Fan Control for the win. Turning off zero RPM but setting the early curve low for the GPU makes for a very quiet system and much cooler than when zero RPM was on. Most of the fans are 140mm so they don't have to spin fast to move a bunch of air. The AIO was super easy to do and at about $60, really cheap for a 280mm radiator. The webcam is no longer looming over me precariously, now it looms over me very securely mounted on a tripod mount affixed to the shelf behind the monitor. The monitor no longer gives me headaches. I had to do some really odd stuff to make that happen, and I'm not sure I could duplicate it as I did it when I had a really bad headache. (I had to turn down the refresh rate from 165 max to 120hz, which it hits consistently in most games, and I had turn ON HDR and then calibrate it and then not use it for most things. I think. IDK. I've been using 60hz monitors for decades so I think my brain was getting tired at 165hz. I'm bad at filtering things.)

experiencing that "adhd urge to tackle cleaning my bedroom in one whirlwind effort" phenomenon this week

a majority of that effort has been the result of an epiphany that i was getting in "clothing hoarder" territory, with how much i own vs how much i wear. my partner and i split the bedroom 50/50 and i do not exaggerate that a third of my side was packed solid with clothes

it was bad enough that while going through stuff, a solid fourth of it was stuff i had completely forgotten i have, and another fourth of it was stuff i liked enough to buy multiples of so i had a backup when the first one got too worn out (some things, the item was either so cheap and/or i was so in love with them that i had as many as six extra)

i was tired of never having space to even use my side of the room to do more than sleep and use my laptop. of owning a ton of clothes i didn't even necessarily like enough to wear, and a ton more clothes that don't even fit. of owning more crap than i can handle owning

so i formed a rudimentary plan and ran headlong into it. it's been messy, but it's made it lower stress to not have too much structure to my approach beyond a simple "finish one step to completion before moving onto the next." (i would put "simple" in air quotes, but punctuating that would've been awkward. anybody with executive dysfunction can relate to the difficulty of forming and adhering to a granular itinerary)

most of this is rambling, but it might be helpful idk. so far it's looked something like this:

pulling everything out and sorting by like items. putting all duplicates in one bin, and making decisive cuts on which extras i actually need to keep. taking a cursory walk through my definite "yes" pile to see what coords i can make with them

it's made it much gentler for me to have a "yes" bin, a "no definitely not" bin, and a bin for "still thinking about it." (and a fourth bin, but that's the trash can, LOL.) not having to think about it in a black and white "decision now" mentality lets me focus on being brutally honest about whether i love each thing, and whether it's past its prime. yeah i have the skills and tools to repair many types of garment damage, but do i love the item enough to spend the time and effort?

i think the hardest thing has been trying every single thing on to make sure it still fits, and fits in a way i like. it's cruelly hot here. there are some winter things i can barely stand to touch right now, let alone put on my body. i have promised myself that i will revisit the off-season bin when it's on-season... but i did suffer through the fall clothes since that's a majority of my clothing, and it's my favs

having that "maybe" bin has also given me the ability to distance myself from the items and marinate. i looked through my maybes one day later, and found making a concrete yes/no was much easier. like the off-season bin, i have promised myself that i will revisit the "maybes" in six months to see if my feelings on them have changed

which, i cannot emphasize enough. clearly label every bin and bag while you're pruning--and date it!!! that way you'll know the last time you went through that particular bin. i didn't have any lingering receipts or anything to go by, but i know that some of these stored clothes have gone untouched for literally a decade. be kind to yourself and never let yourself say "etc, stuff, or misc" either. if you do that, you will have to open it to know what's in it, every single time. if it's a mixture of things--like scarves, belts, ties--write each thing on it. i also don't recommend a blanket "accessories" label on any "yes" bins for the same reason

it's taken me three days to get this far, and i'm just past halfway going through things i think, but i think i've gotten my clothing possessions down by 30-50% with my first pass over everything

once i have all my definite "no"s culled, i am going to make a second pass over everything in my "yes"es to see if they're all still definitely "yes"es. same with the "maybes." i know i can shrink it all down further, but i need to trim the fat before i can work with the meat, to sound like a butcher for a minute

it's been exhausting and very time consuming, but it's also long overdue and i have multiple spoon-adjacent energy restrictions working against me. sometimes the best self-care you can give yourself is getting rid of what you don't need anymore, so you can appreciate and focus on what you do need and love

(yeah, part of it is me looking for stuff that's in good enough condition to see if i can get a resale shop to take it, money is getting that tight... but god i am drowning in belongings and i cannot stand it anymore nefeysfnstksfnstksfnstksfnstnm)

yeah absolutely! idk how helpful my response will be but i'll try!

basically, the bella sara cards already come with little phrases/sayings on them (of the positive #girlpower variety), so that's why i ended up going with an oracle deck basis instead of something else like tarot, where i'd have to assign cards individual meanings. they've already got the little fortunes (???) on them, so might as well work with it!

my deck is made up of 98% cards i've had since childhood, so ymmv. i have a pretty large collection, but the only cards that actually ended up in my deck were ones i'd had for a long time and had been used. however, i have intentions of filling the deck out more over time as i buy specific cards second hand (i'm actively trying to collect the rest of the ancient lights series and i'm probably going to go for the native lights next). right now in the deck i have 93 cards, which is just a "measure with your heart" type thing. they'll probably get rotated in/out as i get new cards that i connect with more or whatever. the upper limit for me will probably be "i can no longer comfortably hold these cards to shuffle them" lmao i cut out all the duplicates in my deck, except for a few of the same horse with different variations (i.e., thunder, thunder from the ball series, and carousel thunder, or foil/non-foil cards), but those may get cut in the future, because they still have the same phrase, just different art (and so different vibes, maybe?). i haven't actually done a reading with the deck yet, so i'm still working out the kinks haha

i also cut out any non-horse cards, although i am considering adding in the Sara, Goddess of Horses card i have for funsies, even though i don't have any other human cards in the deck.

i'm also using cards from a variety of series, not just one specific one, which offers a larger pool to draw from as far as phrases go. i can't say it's especially "complete" like a trad orcale deck might be, but i like what i've got so far.

what makes this such an interesting and fun deck is that it's 100000% just do whatever your heart desires. it makes it super unique to each individual, and really fun to set up, and then you can break it apart or trade cards out or add cards in as much as you want! it's very customizable and individual. you and i can both make oracle decks from the BS cards and have two wildly different decks, just depending on what cards we have and which ones we wanted to put in our deck.

Im sick and tired of people ESPECIALLY social media creators thinking theyre the shit because they have X amount of followers when most of those are duplicate accounts from the same person OR pornbots, lets be real you really honestly think that many people are interested in your chills and shadowman. Might aswell say," You guys are forgetting I had 3 million followers on a dead app and I'm the one that constantly farted and made fart jokes during investigations to lighten the mood".

This just makes me so glad he and Jake are no longer part of SNCs investigations. He was so immature and then you have Jake who's too cool to believe in ghosts or show fear so he just sits there emotionless and either pretends to stub his toe to not take part in a investigation or acts erratic and disrespectful so everyone thinks he's possesed.

that being said, i think it's weird that he brought up vine. no one was saying he wasn't successful. ppl were calling him out for actual shit, not nonsensical stuff like follower count.

jake and corey were interesting for a while in their videos, but it did get to a point where i couldn't put up with them much longer. i just had wished that snc had just gone on one or two trips without them. but the audience really reacted like jake was the level-headed one which.... sounds like a joke. i think the only reason ppl thought of jake like that was bc he didn't overreact so he looked normal. but underreacting is equally as annoying as overreacting.

also, he's not cool for not believing in paranormal stuff. snc aren't cool for believing, but they are cool for going out of their way to get proof.
