Fisherman HX

Fisherman HX who finds an injured creature tangled up in an abandoned net. Not only does HX recognize this creature as a merman, but also as the infamous sinker of numerous shady ships.

He decides to help this merman anyway, their wounds look quite severe.

HX: “how bad can he be-?”

HC: [weakly hisses and tries ripping HX’s hands off]

HX: “GAH”

Nevertheless, HC’s wounds are too many and too deep. And he can only defend himself so much while trapped in the net. Eventually, he lets HX pull him up into the boat. 

HX can’t believe he’s actually following through with this idiotic plan. He slowly unsheathes his trusty dagger, making sure the merman can see he means no bodily harm, just needs to begin cutting up the net. 

This merman can’t seem to understand HX’s words but still gives him the most judgmental looks. Especially when they’re back in HX’s cottage, the human attempting to apply ointment to the bleeding scratches on his back, and some gashes on his tail. 

However, the merman’s mobility seems to worsen over the next few hours. HX curses. There must have been poison involved. It would take him a couple days to properly identify it and concoct the appropriate cure. Because of the merman’s mild paralysis, HX literally has to tend to the merman’s whims. 

A week goes by. The two have established a somewhat friendly relationship. And as it turns out, HC can understand human tongue

HC: “you fuckin’ loser”

HX, getting whiplash: “exCUSE ME!?”

HX decides to bring HC on his next fishing trip. The merman’s condition has improved enough. Plus, if HC can communicate with him, he should be able to offer advice on how to catch more fish to sell in the next market. 

So here HX is, patiently waiting for the telling wiggling of his small nets below. HC is splayed out on the other end of the boat, chilling and ultimately making HX’s life harder.

It doesn’t get more exciting than this-

SPLASH!

A body shoots out of the water and yoinks HX overboard. The creature drags HX beneath the surface, constricting his limbs and going for his neck. 

A series of aggressive clicks echoes underwater. 

HX: [so this is how i die?]

One second, HX is being drowned by what is clearly another merman, the next moment he’s somehow back above the surface and gasping for air.

HC now insistently clicks at the other merman, who squawks then hisses as he brandishes HX’s limp body like a ragdoll. 

HX: “Whasss goin’ on?”

HC: “Shut up, don’t say anything.”

He chirps one last time to the other merman.

HC beckons his mate closer, speaking in merman tongue. 

“Love, let the human go. He saved me.”

Floating next to the boat, XL bares his teeth, his expression one of disbelief. 

“Are you sure? I can still drown him if you want. He’s just a human,”  XL says, still half-strangling HX. 

Centuries ago, XL’s pod was brutally attacked by pirates. As an adventurous, young merman, XL had swam too close to the surface, consequently leading the pirates to his podmates. A few survived, but XL never forgets.

He will never let his vendetta against humans go.

Funny how things work out. 

While XL was born a merman, HC was turned by XL when they mated. This explains why HC knows human tongue and has a better understanding of human behavior. It also helps him sink even the most advanced ships.

XL and HC started off extremely hostile, HC a merchant who sailed the waters XL resided in. HC even has a scar from their first meeting, which he jokes that it’s a love bite or something. HC always wore tough clothing so XL’s jaws couldn’t pierce through. 

Feisty XL hadn’t hesitated to chomp HC multiple times.

Alas, the fates had plans for them. Over the course of five years, the merman and human fell deeply in love. HC had then offered his life for XL’s to have, and the decision to mate was made. 

The transformation process is a difficult one, and has a very low chance of survival. It involves dark ancient magic; a ritual consisting of feeding from human flesh for one week straight; then drowning until near death before being saved with a kiss from a merman.

When HC’s two legs took the form of a beautiful, massive, crimson and black tail, the pair had lovingly intertwined tails while wrapping their arms around each other. 

Many, many eras have come and went. XL taught HC the merman ways from how to swim at incredible speeds to how to avoid humans and the violence they bring. 

The mated pair have been together since, swimming beneath the ocean’s surface, inseparable. 

Now, XL has successfully stalked the human that took his mate. He doesn’t understand human tongue, and is prepared to slaughter this human and offer the flesh for HC to devour to recover. 

Fortunately, HC explains the situation, and HX’s life is spared. 

HC: “He’s honestly not that bad.”

XL: “...did you misbehave while you were with him?”

HC: “Not a single eating utensil left, water everywhere on his floors, and I managed to break his… he said teevee?”

XL, purring: “That’s my boy. ”

HX is still held in the feisty merman’s clutches. After a snickering string of clicks from the new merman, HX questions: “What is he saying?”

“Oh, he says thank you for helping me,” HC answers.

What XL actually said: “Why is his haircut so ugly?”

Soon enough, XL hoists himself up into HX’s boat. He deposits HX on the floor, then wiggles over to HC. 

“Missed you,” XL says, petting his mate’s hair. HC responds by nuzzling his forehead against XL’s. 

HX lays on his back, staring up at the sky. He now has two merman cuddling in his boat, and exactly zero fish have been caught.

“Why am I here?”

A few days later, XL approaches HX’s boat again and actually does offer human flesh for HC. HX gags and looks away as HC happily tears into the gory flesh.

It was the first time since Xie Lian started dating his new lover that he finally had the guts to suggest help in his heat. He could see how the merman would clearly be uncomfortable from not doing anything about it and h thought it could be good to help.

It had happened on their vacation to a beach house Hua Cheng owns. Xl simply didn't like to see him restrain himself only because he thought xl might not want to help with that.

“Everything about san Lang I like, so of course he would like to help the same way you help me when I need it" he smiled while gently grabbing his hand.

So, they set for the private beach, where the water is shallow enough for hc to move around with his original tail. Xl would lie if he said he was not curious about how sex would be in hc original form.

It's a strange feeling than to be naked and nearly straddling hc tail. Of course, he had touched it before since hc was more than happy to let him do so, but it felt rather different now that he was fully naked.

The little movement made by hc to stay where they were rubbing against him, made him blush as smooth scales slide on his skin.

“Does gege like the feeling of my tail against him?~” teased hc, chuckling at how redder xl became as something else came to his head, kissing him when he didn’t receive any answers, hands already going to his bottom to tease him with his finger, a first one entering pretty easily has xl had already done some prepping. “You were eager to help me,” he said.

“Yes, I want to help san lang feel better” he replied while a soft moan when hc went to tease his prostate. As much as he enjoy letting hc tease him, even though he was starting to want to go more quickly, somewhat excited about something he never tried before with hc. All they did was always in his human form. 

But soon he could feel the strange tip against him, looking at it curiously. “is gege surprised by what it looks like?”

hc asked, breath hitching when he felt fingers take careful hold of his cock. Xl was surprised by the smoothness, large at the base before slowly getting slimmer at the tip. It sure would fit in more easily.

“Gege" hc ended up saying, feeling his restraint slowly die down the more xl was playing with him like this. This made xl snap out of his observation, finally placing himself more correctly above, his lover, legs wrapped around his hips so he could be supported better by hc.

It was a bit weird and awkward at first since they didn’t necessarily do it the same way they normally would in bed, but xl was also not a merman who could stay underwater where it was probably more convenient.

But after a while they found a better position and rhythm, the merman slowly losing himself with how great it felt. 

This was the first mating season hc didn’t mind the arrival of, now that he had xl with him to help him out, rather than be stuck in heat all alone. Although in the excitement and pleasure, he forgot a rather important part of how his body functioned. 

Xl came nearly at the same time as hc, falling back into hc arms when he relaxed back a bit, ready to wait a bit before going back if hc needed it.

But then something happened. 

It felt as if something bigger wanted to pass his entrance, making him a bit nervous, yet when he tried moving, he felt hands on his hips keeping him in place.

Soon, he felt that lump go up hc dick, brushing past his prostate and then resting farther into him.  

The round objects were not painful either, seemingly not fully hard, but he was really confused and a bit nervous, unsure what was suddenly being unloaded into him, all he could do was squirm in hc holds as the pressure on his prostate was making him hard again soon.

Hc seemed to catch on it, smiling softly to him, “I am sure we can figure out a way for me to carry them if gege wants to have children with san lang” he suggested, hand joining xl’s one on his belly, trying to see if he could feel the eggs.

“Does... does this happen every time you come as a mermaid?” xl asks, feeling his cheeks flush a little bit at the fact that he wanted to try that again, it was not unpleasant (nothing hc did was).

The merman seemed amused at his question, fingers going back to teasing him. “We usually have eggs in our mating season” he points out, “But sometimes we make some random one throughout the rest of the years”.

“If gege wants more, he simply has to tell me~~” he whispered against his ears, gently nibbling at his neck as his cock was back at xl entrance, ready for more if he wanted to. 

And wanting more xl did, not hesitating to take the length into him even with eggs still in him.

It seemed like even if xl couldn’t carry his eggs, hc would pump as much as he wanted into him. The look of his lover with faint bumps on his belly was a pleasant one.

Thinking of merlian + human sailor HC where HC learns all about merpeople customs on courting. One of the most common beginning customs is to lounge out on the rocks and show off the colors of one’s tail.

XL himself hasn’t done it, but they’ve seen plenty of other merpeople doing it! And HC always catches the curious gaze XL sends over.

So…HC secretly makes the decision to lounge on the rocks himself! In as little clothing as possible, showing off his long legs and many tattoos :)

Thus, when XL is swimming nearby with his friends, MQ suddenly jerks back while deadpanning, “what the actual fuck!?”

FX fares no better, exclaimingly, “MY EYES- OH MY GOD!!”

It takes a few seconds for XL to see exactly what his friends see, but once he does-

XL chokes on water.

“Wha- is- is that…SAN LANG!?”

Instantly, XL blushes pink ALL THE WAY DOWN TO HIS TUMMY. XL can barely function, and almost shys away from swimming over to his lover.

But MQ and FX yank him back and push him towards HC because, “the sooner you approach him, the sooner you guys can LEAVE.”

HC watches this whole exchange with an enamored glint in his eye. He doesn’t give a fuck whoever might be around to watch, his attention is only on his beloved - whose fins are even blushing!

HC pats the area of the rock next to him.

“Does His Highness want to join me?

“S-San Lang, your clothes…” XL stammers. HC merely raises a brow.

“Oh, you’re right, let me just-“

HC pulls out two shells that have been attached into a bralette and puts them over his pecs.

“Those are for your eyes only.”

XL shakes his head, an overwhelming sense of fondness filling his heart.

“You are too much,” XL says as he hoists himself out of the water and plops himself half onto the human, situating himself snugly in HC’s arms. The shells bralette feels smooth against his skin. “I love it.”

Merpeople customs include underwater dances ! (Think synchronized swimming, but it’s two merpeople dancing underwater with each other.)

Cue HC performing some of the easier ones to the best of his abilities.

XL is the biggest supporter! He also dances with HC, of course. XL is actually known to be one of the most elegant dancers so. :)

Incidentally, XL makes the mistake of kissing HC underwater after their routine is finished, causing HC to lose all the leftover air he was holding.

XL, in realization: “AHH I’M SORRY SAN LANG!!”🤕

XL quickly drags HC up to the surface, where they simply hold each other while gently bobbing up and down in the calm ocean waters.

Imagining a hualian mermaid au where hua cheng is a mermaid

When he was younger some poachers caught him and they marveled at his bright red tail. he tried his best to cover it with seaweed and stay out of sight

But he gets caught

Xie Lian happens to be sailing nearby and he spots the poachers and demands they release honghong er

Honghong er is frightened by it all and swims away. He spends the rest of his youth hiding in an underwater cave. Never does he forget the kind human who saved him

Xie Lian’s village is destroyed by the poachers who turn out to be pirates because of this act. Then he is kidnapped by the pirates and made a slave aboard their boat

He tries to stay upbeat and kind toward the other victims and prisoners he encounters but it’s *hard*

Meanwhile, Hua Cheng makes a name for himself as the terror of the seas. You know he is near when the waves turn crimson

He spots this ship and attacks it for entering his domain—a haven where merfolk are safe from humankind. He watches the pirates begin to drown, a smile on his face

Then he spots one—an unconscious man in tattered white robes—a face he could never forget. He races Xie Lian to the surface and resuscitates him. Pleading with his savior to stay with him. To stay alive.

Xie Lian wakes up. He instantly recognizes Hua Cheng. He smiles.

“It’s you,” he whispers, placing a hand on the merman’s cheek. He never stopped thinking of the mermaid. He never regretted saving him.

Hua Cheng just stares and stares and stares. Disbelieving. He treats his beloved’s wounds. He can’t speak above the surface. His vocal cords don’t work right.

Xie Lian remains on a small island while he heals. Hua Cheng hunts fish for him and watches the human cook it. Xie Lian talks at length about where he is from and the life he’s lived. Hua Cheng listens with rapt attention

One day, when Xie Lian has recovered, and meat has returned to his bones, Hua Cheng offers him, on a thin silver chain, a ring made of his own scales.

When Xie Lian puts it on, he transforms into a merman. An elegant one with a pretty white and gold scaled tail.

They go to Hua Cheng’s domain and Xie Lian quickly picks up the language of the merfolk

Hua Cheng explains that Xie Lian can take off the necklace at any time and return to his human life up on land. To return home.

“Maybe I’ll visit someday,” Xie Lian smiles. “But as far as Im concerned I *am* home.”
