Could this be the world’s first Fukaboku cosplay? I sure haven’t seen any others yet!

As soon as I saw what Mei was about, I knew I had to cosplay her though. I see a lot of myself in her, and seeing her have success in embracing her identity has given me a lot of courage to do the same!

“Mei” and “Akira”

I read Fukaboku, and I was wondering how the characters’ names are written in Japanese. So I thought of this.

Theory behind Mei’s name and deadname: Mei’s deadname is “Akira”, which can be written as 明 in kanji. But 明 can also be read as “Mei”, which is what she and all the characers of Fukaboku call her now! Kinda big brain move tbh

Will it ever be relevant to the plot?

So.... the official fukaboku account on twitter just retweeted someone’s art of Mei and Kotone going on a date. Now, it could just be that they retweet anything tagged with “fukaboku” written in Japanese (不可ぼく), or that the person who retweeted it doesn’t read English and didn’t realize what it was supposed to be art of (they aren’t kissing, the drawing shows Mei holding a dress up to Kotone), but....
