2019 was a big year for Angelico Entertainment. Alongside debuting their biggest female act yet, VENUS, just a year prior, they also struck gold with their first ever in-house boy group: LoveOutLoud, abbreviated to L.O.L for branding purposes. Starting off as a ten-member lineup, L.O.L became an almost instant KPOP darling, still being girl group stans token boy group to stan.

Despite their bright and youthful branding, the inner workings of L.O.L are quite dark as their mistreatment goes back to their pre-debut days. It's rare for there to be an L.O.L comeback without a member sick or injured, as their promotional schedules are grueling and stacked. The members, despite being well into their careers at this point, haven't had a break in nearly four years.

The notorious Angelico CEO, Son Jinhwa, would say there's no time for breaks. Their momentum is still building; if they take a break, they'll be forgotten.

The boys took those words to heart, publicly denouncing the need for breaks between releases and saying they enjoy promoting as much as they do.

Well, almost all of them did.

By the end of 2021, they dropped to seven members, with three of the members leaving on what seemed like a bimonthly basis. First started with Siho leaving in March, citing creative differences and mistreatment but he would not leave Angelico. Instead, he would stay and produce under the label until his contract ran up. Fans speculate the final nail in the coffin for Siho was when other L.O.L member Jesse was given the spot as producer despite Siho being promised the role. Once Siho's contract with Angelico was up, he would become a producer and music video director.

Next to leave was Yadam in August, citing physical exhaustion and contractual disagreements as his reasons. Yadam was a beloved and well-known member of the group for his vocals and visuals, originally holding the spot as the official visual. He would go on to sue Angelico Entertainment for mistreatment, claiming that they did not allow him proper vocal rest, permanently damaging his vocal cords. Though the case made it far, the two parties settled out of court. He would go on to debut as a soloist and actor in 2023 after a much-needed break.

The last member to officially leave L.O.L would be Asher in December of that same year, claiming mental health struggles as his reason for leaving. Asher was one of the more popular members internationally for his bright and out-there personality, which seemed to dim as the years went on. He would return to America the same year and become a thriving social media influencer and actor in the States, having a following of 1.7 million on YouTube, 7.1 million on TikTok, and 5.2 million on Instagram.

Currently, Akio, the seventh member, is on a hiatus because of an ankle injury he obtained in 2023. He has not been an active member with the group for nearly a year now, leaving many fans to worry he will be the next one to drop from the lineup.

The group sits pretty and happy on top of the boy group brand rankings, being some of the most recognizable and beloved faces in the KPOP industry at the moment, but are they really as bright and happy as they seem?

endlessly curious about the death note utena au 👀👀👀

okay so i wanted to have some more content to show before answering this ask... and i was already working on a character lineup for artfight!

so here's the full lineup of my death note au redesigns (not including any side characters i may include later as story permits such as akio, nanami, shiori, etc.) :)

and honestly i have to stop just calling it "my death note utena au" when it has a name.. so: here's the beginnings of revolutionary girl kira!

the basic premise is literally just inserting them into the death note character roles, nothing too crazy lol

surface breakdown:

utena is light! obviously because she's the main character but also because she would probably test out the death note to see what happens (in this au, she decides to use it to "revolutionize the world" and take out perpetrators of violent crimes who never faced justice)

anthy is L (or, in this case, "rue,") because seriously who else would be L. after shutting herself out from the world to focus on a job she can do without showing her face, she's forced to show her face and work with the police to gain access to more information. she knows this isn't a typical serial killer case...

wakaba is misa! she adores utena almost to a fault after discovering her status as kira, but becomes an invaluable asset due to the shinigami eyes she got from a deal with her shinigami (shadow play girl)

touga is the captain of the kira task force and is determined to stick with it until the end, maintaining his confident persona while overlooking key details provided by rue (much to her dismay)

saionji is touga's second-in-command, although treated more like a bodyguard than a friend sometimes. since high school, he's cut his hair short to distance his resemblance to touga (which doesn't work too well since they ended up in the same profession anyway).

miki takes on matsuda's role, but often takes things too seriously rather than not seriously enough. he's by far the youngest member of the task force, and is incredibly dedicated to the kira case.

juri parallels aizawa as a voice of reason for the task force, but their characters aren't too closely tied together. juri holds a grudge against rue (and later, utena upon joining the task force) due to her belief that they're young, inexperienced, and didn't work hard enough to get here; she's often maddened by rue's often unusual tactics and plans.

in terms of changes to the main story, a lot of it is driven by the subtle changes in character relationships or motivations. for example:

utena's motivation to use the death note, while similar to light's, differs in that she only kills criminals who haven't been brought to justice-- which makes it a lot harder for anthy and the task force to ignore the message she's sending.

wakaba and utena have a more balanced relationship than light and misa do in the original show-- utena still considers her a liability, and wakaba's actions lead to some unfortunate circumstances, but i want her to have a complete character arc (unlike misa's complete shafting in the show. pissed me off)

obviously, since touga isn't utena's dad, utena's gonna have to figure out some other way to get access to police records and land herself a spot on the task force.

utenanthy endgame. dont even worry

the themes established in utena (for example, the effects of misogyny and the meaning of revolution) will make a big effect on how the story changes from death note as well! i want to stay faithful to both source materials in a way that's productive.

if this ever gets written/created in some form, the story's gonna veer away from following the death note storyline at the end of L's arc. i have something completely different planned for those scenes that changes the rest of the plot!

with all that being said, honestly there aren't any guarantees i'll have time to end up making this real.. it's mostly just a thought experiment for now since i love both shows and also (re)designing characters :)

Danganronpa Revolutionary Girl Utena au: Makoto is def Utena, you could also make a case for Kyoko or Aoi for The Themes™, but characterwise he fits best imo. Anthy is Mukuro and Akio is Junko, what with the shades of the sibling dynamic, their respective treatment of Makoto and the "Lets stay in the school forever" as thh's bad ending. Mikage is definitely Matsuda and Mamiya is either a) Mukuro in her Junko disguise or b) Ryoko (just to make it that extra despairful). Hajime takes a similar role to Wakaba/Keiko as in a person who realises he is ordinary and that it is stunting him and will take part in the Black Rose seminars to amend that as this universe's Kamukura project, maybe have Chiaki be his respective Utena/Nanami/Saionji. Nagito definitely has Anthy qualities and Kyoko has Juri-like qualities respectively but there isn't a specific role i can pinpoint them as. Byakuya is definitely Saionji and you could make the case that Toko is his Wakaba as well.

Last time we saw Kenji he was dragged to the agreed upon meeting spot by Kireitsune. They came to a stop on what looked like a lawn in the open square(open as in a roofless living room sized block)that was in the middle of the hostel, Kenji saw 9 other girls with animal ears and tails out.

Okay Kenji here we are, I'll go stand with the other girls

Kireitsuné says as she walks over to them.

Kenji : Okay let's do this thing

Kenji says as he brings out his ears and tail and then he sees one girl eyeing him hard.

Cool as you already know me but I'm Kireitsune Minamoto from the fox family.

Kireitsuné says.

I'm Chitayna Yamamoto and I'm from the official

A girl with light beige hair and yellow eyes says as she smirks, she is also the one who was eyeing him.

After they all introduced themselves to him Kenji spoke up.

I'm Kenji Shedji and as you're all probably aware I'm part of the first Cheetah family and that my father's Akio Shedji, the man who got everyone to stop being in clans and start making families, but I ask you to treat me like a normal teenage boy and not a prince because the ten of you are also royalty, princesses to be more precise.

They all nodded their heads.

Kireitsune walks over to Kenji and gives him a great big hug.

"Welcome here officially"

She says welcomingly

The others walk over to him as well to officially welcome him.

Chitayna also hugs Kenji quite tightly.

" Oh handsome, destiny put you here to meet me."

She says flirtatiously.

Hyöna throws herself into Kenji's arms.

"You're such a cutie you know that?!"

She says gushingly.

Yukino pulls Kenji into a friendly one arm hug

"Nice to meet you man."

She says coolly.

Shishana gives Kenji a bone crushing hug causing a gasp

"Nice to meet ya, welcome to the pride."

She says in a welcoming manner

Tora shyly gives Kenji a soft hug.

"Uhm like I said earlier it's nice to meet you Kenji."

She says shyer still.

Tsukiko hugs Kenji too.

"Welcome to the pack, looking forward to you being our Alpha."

She says in a friendly manner.

Jackie shakes Kenji's hand.

"Well I guess it's nice to meet you, not like I care that much."

She says haughtily.

Gina gives Kenji a hug like most of the others.

"I'm sure we're going to have a bright time."

She says making Kenji laugh a little seeing as Gina's hair and eyes shine like silver coins just like her obvious pun.

Akane gives him a little hug too.

"I protect my friends so we'll get along just fine."

She says reassuringly.

"You all seem like quite nice people, I'll have to get used to your attitude though Jackie."

Kenji says in a somewhat happy manner

"Now before things get rough, Tora let's show Kenji around the hostel a little bit okay."

Kireitsuné says placatingly

"So uhm like what do

you say Kenji, like may we

show you around?"

Tora asks shyly.

"Sure thing you two, by the way Chitayna please stop with the possessive thing, it bothers me."

Kenji says addressing three of the girls respectively.

"Oh Kenji I'll try but there's nothing that can keep us apart for long."

Chitayna says in a disconcerting manner.

"Yeah yeah, just keep this to a minimum, anyway I'll see the rest of you around supper time."

Kenji says addressing everyone.

Okay let's go!" Kireitsuné says as she links with Kenji's right arm while Tora links his left bashfully

Please take good care of us and uhm please hide your ears and tail when we're in the town.

Tora says in her shy way.

"Oh yeah I forgot about that and also about the fact that I come from a school where people thought I was cosplaying.

Kenji says and hides his ears and tail

They leave and first they show him around the hostel, then

they head into the town.

"So Kireitsune and Tora can you tell me a little bit more about yourselves?"

Kenji asks interested.

"Well people say I'm a little bit foxy everytime I am standing up for my friends."

Kireitsuné says seeming kind of annoyed by her own statement.

"Haha if the normal humans even knew that foxy has nothing to do with attitude."

Kenji says laughing.

"They're just ignorant, anyway I'm kind of shy and timid but that's just how I am." Tora says honestly."

"I'm sure your friends adore you, even the quirky ones,am I right Kireitsune?"

Kenji asks?

"Yeah that's completely true Tora-chan, we are all here for you."

Kireitsuné says reassuringly.

"Thank you Kireitsune-san, you're always so nice to people, that's why you are cool."

Tora says in a thankful manner.

"Oh thank you Tora-chan, so Kenji-dono what else is there you want to know?"

Kireitsuné says to Tora and then asks Kenji a question.

"Everything that you can tell me about yourselves no matter what it is."

Kenji says.

"Okay you've probably noticed but I like clothes with borders"

Tora says.

"As you can see I like dressing with clothes no one else would wear in public unless they were at a costume party."

Kireitsuné says with a smile.

"Wow you two have great taste in things, you can already guess things about me though."

Kenji says amazed.

"Yes like you're not very picky about what you wear,eat and so forth right?"

Kireitsuné deduces.

"And how you're a nice person who would always be there for friends and loved ones."

Tora says.

"Yeah that was pretty easy to notice wasn't it haha, well you two do seem pretty smart."

Kenji says laughing.

They walk around town with Kireitsune and Tora showing him around the town, the shops, street vendors, other schools from

the outside and so on.

They get home later, eat supper, bath and all go to bed while Kenji reflects on his first day.

"These girls are all so nice but I'll have to watch out for Chitayna, get used to Jackie too."

Kenji says to himself as he drifts off to sleep and rests in a peace filled atmosphere.

PASH! January 2019 - Producer Matsuda Akio - Interview Translation

Here’s Producer Matsuda Akio’s interview from PASH! January 2019. A very short and sweet one to create some hype just before season 2′s premiere, but contains some nice comments on the love the staff have for Mob Psycho 100, and some thoughts on Security Guard Dimple’s popularity.

He’s asked to list anything that’s left an impression on him during the Mob Psycho 100 anime journey. “The huge shouts of joy when we dropped the surprise season 2 announcement during the event back in March. It was touching, knowing that the fans love Mob Psycho 100 this much... that people were willing to wait for season 2... that despite the gap of almost two years between the first and second season, people were willing to keep supporting us. I got to witness that support first hand.”

He talks about the loveable characters of Mob Psycho 100 - “I think we can attribute a good amount of that love to the good performance of their voice actors. Regarding Security Guard Dimple’s bizarrely large popularity, I think he wouldn’t have become as popular as he is without Ootsuka-san’s voice behind him.”

In reference to the staff behind Mob Psycho 100; “Every single person involved with the production of the anime is someone who holds a high degree of affection for it… everybody understands and has their own interpretation of the manga.”

He’s asked about Reigen and Mob’s relationship, and what we should pay attention to with regard to it in season 2. “There’s moments in which we delve deep into their relationship. I want you to pay attention to how they speak to one another. The two of them aren’t just Shishou and Deshi - they’re able to take another look at what the other is to them. Also, there’s a scene that forms a pair with one that we see in season 1; I think you’ll be able to recognise the foreshadowing in that anime original depiction.”

“Director Tachikawa is a cool and gentle person by nature. He doesn’t make his passion very apparent, but he tries so hard - so hard, in fact, that he’ll miss out on going to his favourite Tonkatsu restaurant!”

Q; “What kinds of things should we expect to see in season 2?”

Matsuda; “Mob becomes a bishounen for a moment, Reigen gets backed into the biggest corner of the series, and Dimple becomes one of the Body Improvement Club!”

Finally he’s asked to give a message to fans who lie in wait for season 2; “Season 2 has plenty of good chapters from the manga, some fantastic moments, and is crammed full of moving lines. Mob Psycho 100 II - an anime given life by a wonderful cast, and a team of staff who craft it with hands full of love. I think you’ll come to be even more charmed by Mob Psycho 100, so please look forward to it!”

The Break Trio is under the spotlight here, I feel like fans would really be thirsty for pictures of them. I enjoyed drawing them, building their personalities with their comments under it, and talking more about the production of the show !

Yakedo crying after the scene where Gouenji leaves the team in season 2 was an idea that hit me when I watched that season again and asked myself “I wonder how the actors would feel playing this scene or this scene”. It’s yet another way to enjoy this anime!

Before the pilot, when Suruno, Hogo and Yakedo met, they felt kind of awkward. Hogo is the most experienced of them and is kind of impressive to Yakedo, and even Suruno. Since he’s very secret, the two others couldn’t figure him out. Yakedo felt very impressed by Hogo and Suruno, and couldn't relax. Suruno is the sassy one in the group, and the two others didn’t really know if he was joking or just being mean. The showrunner even decided he would recast the roles if it didn’t work out eventually.

But then they started shooting the pilot and the chemistry between the three actors just magically appeared on the screen. After that, the actors were able to understand each other a lot better and started getting along.

Saito came on the set once to say hi to Suruno but saw him with Hogo and Yakedo, and was surprised he had made friends this easily. But he was happy for him, so he just left without seeing his best friend.

Yakedo was very embarrassed when he couldn’t stop crying after the scene of Gouenji’s departure. He was deeply touched when Hogo and Suruno came to comfort him first, and when the other actors and crew members joined after them.

Hogo asked Sanae (Natsumi’s actress) if she could explain some things about soccer to him, and Sanae spontaneously invited him to watch a game in real life. Sanae was impressed by Hogo’s talent as an actor since Endou really is different from his real self. Hogo on the other hand was genuinely interested in all the soccer stuff Sanae knew and often joked about how she was the real Endou between them.

Yakedo and Matsuda spent a lot of time together as well since they both needed to dye their hair regularly. They would chat and learn to know each other while being taken care of by the hairstylists of the show. The “hair dyers” squad became even bigger when Fubuki’s and Tsunami’s actors joined the show during season 2.

The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt TV Anime Releases 2nd PV Introducing OP Theme

    The official website for the forthcoming TV anime adaptation of Toru Toba's fantasy light novel series The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt has posted a 110-second PV introducing its main characters and OP theme song "LEVEL" performed by singer-songwriter Nagi Yanagi and THE SIXTH LIE. The song is revealed for the first time in this clip.

  THE SIXTH LIE is a four-member electro rock band known for their theme song works for the Golden Kamuy anime franchise, and this is the first time for them to collaborate with Yanagi. The CD single of the song is set to be released in Japan on February 9, 2022.

    The TV anime is set to premiere on TOKYO MX, BS Nittele and AT-X on January 11, 2022. Yokohama Animation Laboratory (Lapis Re:LiGHTs) works on anime production with Makoto Tamagawa (Saint Seiya: Saintia Sho) directing. Deko Akao (Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town) serves as the series composition writer, and Ryunosuke Ouji designs the anime version characters.

A 5th promotional video for the “Vinland Saga” TV anime is now available.  The first three episodes premiere July 7th 24:10 JST on NHK-G.
