Hey guys. You know what we haven’t done in a while? That’s right! Put on our tinfoil hats, get tangled up in an entire spool of red string, and do a ridiculous deep dive on lore and make up wild insane theories about the upcoming story drop!

That’s right we’ve got some--

First up. If you haven’t watched it already, here’s the trailer for the 6.2 story drop, specifically for the storyline we’ll be doing our deep dive on, Echoes of Oblivion.

Okay, so there’s a lot to unpack here, and I’m going to state outright, that the chances of this being on the money like Gravedrog is... well. I’ve got no lottery numbers for you this time around. I can’t believe no one took me up on that offer.  There’s always the possibility the storyline has absolutely nothing to do with any previously established lore, and they create something wholly new. And hey, if that’s the case, this is just free fanfic fodder for the masses.

But Charles did mention, I believe on the forums(?), that he’s seen one person guess what’s going on. The real question is... WHO GUESSED IT. HMM.

So I’ve been wanting to actually do a post on this a while, at least since Arcann’s voice actor accidentally made the slip up about Thexan being in this story drop. A large part of this theory/discovery goes to the lovely @confettininjabean​​, who found this piece of lore when we were getting tangled up in red string back in the Gravedrog days, pre-Nathema Conspiracy. Let’s just say, there was a... certain interaction on Twitter that had us thinking this had something to do with NC, and when it didn’t pan out we were like “Oh, weird, guess that wasn’t on the right track” and forgot about it.

Well, sort of. Because we were like, “that really seemed significant considering”, but hey, sometimes you hit upon a Gravedrog, sometimes you think Indo Zal is an evil mastermind playing 4D chess. In other words, when it comes to red string theories, you win some. You lose some.

Anyway. I forget why, but I went perusing on Wookieepedia a few months ago, looking back up this sort of obscure piece of lore for some reason. And something about it was.... FAMILIAR.

But that’s a plague right? Not the same thing as a thought bomb. I mean it’s not like anyone in SWTOR has dealt with a Force plague--

Oh. huh. But you might say, “But Grey, that plague was invented by Terrak Morrhage, not Vitiate.” And you would be right! What I can’t seem to find confirmation of, thus far, is exactly when Terrak Morrhage lived, but by me and Jayde’s current reckoning, it seems like he may have been around possibly during the Great Hyperspace War, the end of which Vitiate used in his mad grab for immortality and power, manipulating what was probably a majority of the remaining Sith Lords into his brand spanking new ritual that he just needed a little help with.

Okay, and this is where we leave lore land, and enter into speculation land. I, um, just got sidetracked on Jedipedia (I’ll get to that), trying to find a codex entry regarding Vitiate I know I’ve read but I lost at some point. So, we’re going off memory here, but I’m fairly certain it’s stated in canon somewhere that prior to his ascension, Vitiate was obsessed with Sith alchemy and ancient Sith rituals. So if Morrhage pre-dated him, or was a peer, it’s possible Vitiate was able to learn about his plague, and adapt it to some of his other experiments.

Okay, back to the thought bomb for a moment. Full disclosure, I haven’t read the Darth Bane novels, so I’m going off of Wookiepeedia here instead of the source material (which is always a dicey affair), it says Bane adapted the thought bomb from notes on the ritual Vitiate performed. So, it’s possible the thought bomb is not a 100% Vitiate original, just a bastardization of it. But it’s interesting that the ritual itself gathers up and shreds the Force essence/soul of everyone in its path. Well, I mean, horrifying. But in this theory’s perspective, interesting in that when Vitiate used Zildrog as part of his ritual--where did all of the Force go exactly?

Because as you wander around Nathema, you hear the tortured whispers of every soul obliterated during that ritual.

This is talked about a little in the Revan novel, and it’s been a few years since I read it so I’m kind of going off memory again, but he basically created a void in the Force there. And remember... in the KOTET chapter we went to Nathema, he was actually visibly afraid a few times. Hmm... now why would that be? Was it Vaylin he was afraid of? Was it something else?

If memory serves, there wasn’t an actual explosion like as described with the thought bomb--because he wasn’t using the ritual as a weapon. He was using it to gather power, to shuffle off this mortal coil and live eternal as an annoying spirit who you just can’t quite squash out no matter how many mind mazes you build to keep him locked up. So, and again, this is speculation land, but all of that swirling Force and dead energy had to go somewhere right? I mean, Zildrog had his snack and went omnomnom, but where did the Force power go? And why was there a Void that constantly pulled at him and sapped away his power on Nathema?

Is it because the Force didn’t explode? Is it because he bound it up in his old disgusting decaying old man flesh? And the only reason he was alive because he basically made himself a little flesh horcrux that was destroyed at the exact moment we sent him off to the Void that he feared so much?

Hmm. Interesting.

Wait. Wait a second... I think there was something else he mentioned. Now, what was it?

You know, I had always assumed he was talking about Gravedrog being unleashed, since the whole reason he went to Zakuul was likely to find the Gravestone so he could pair it with Zildrog back on Nathema, and enact his galaxy-wide extinction event.

And maybe he was.

Or was he talking about his failsafe.

The one he knew would happen if someone destroyed his old, withered, icky body?

So... if the ritual/plague is some take on the thought bomb, and it infects any Force user like some prescient, who could have realized this is what 2020 held in store for us pandemic that spread rapidly and consumed everyone who touched it, until it made manifest what was once just thought...

Is the whole entire point of this to bring Valky back from the dead? Or is it just his last revenge? And what on earth would that last revenge be? Well... and just hear me out. Say there was this guy. Kind of an asshole. And he had this whole schtick about killing every single living thing in the galaxy and liked to consume whole planets in a single gulp just for funsies. Wouldn’t it be so funny if he, say, in the unlikely event he possessed some Outlander who happened to go “get out and get a job loser!” and booted him off to the beyond, and at the same time his old indentured servant and that chick he once possessed found his horcrux and destroyed that, wouldn’t it be a kick if that somehow kicked off a plague that consumed every single Force user in the entire galaxy until it had enough power and then exploded and completely wiped out all life in the galaxy, so that if the asshole who’s name totally isn’t Valkorion couldn’t live forever then neither could any. single. thing. in. the. galaxy.

I mean, that or it’s just a ploy to get him into one final boss fight.

But i dunno... I kind of just found the entire cast list of who’s in the Echoes of Oblivion storyline (warning, major spoilers and datamining on that link, and yes, that’s what distracted me on Jedipedia) and I’m kind of thinking. Having to keep the entire galaxy from being consumed by a sociopath’s final revenge kind of sounds like a pretty epic finale, don’t you?

And hey, if not. Free fanfic idea for anyone who wants it.

Oh yeah, also predicting the following:

We’re going on another mindscape adventure like in KOTET Chapter 9, but it’s Satele’s mind we’re in

It’s not actually Valkorion/Vitiate/Tenebrae, but a remnant/essence of him that’s made manifest by the ritual. Also he needs a combo nickname because I’m tired of having to pick one of three names. I shall call you Valkiatebrae. It’s a beautiful name. I know he’ll love it.

Vaylin and Thexan who we see in the trailer are probably also manifestations conjured by the quasi- Valkiatebrae

We’re going to Ossus? Or Ossus in Satele’s mind?

The Knight and crew missed a few of the death cult back in the storyline, and that’s who was either watching Tenebrae’s body, or who hijacked Satele’s ship OR they have some part in the ritual (perhaps the part to physically manifest  Valkiatebrae). We see them in the trailer above.

Who’s ready for some bullshit thoughts on why Merlin can be “Summoned?”

Yes, yes, I know-- I always seem to swoop in with absolute bullshit Merlin meta whenever anyone asks a question about him within my general vicinity. I apologize. I just love that man.

Anyways. Let’s discuss a few theories I have. As a foreword, sorry for any formatting issues or anything like that, tumblr really fucked with it hardcore and I did my best to fix it up but. Also ignore any typos ect ect. Whatever. Merlin meta under the cut because I got REALLY longwinded:

1) Perhaps Merlin’s A-Ranked Illusionism skill allows him to project himself, or a shadow of himself, onto the physical plain. The Profile translation on the Cirnopedia says that his Illusionism is “A magic that deludes people. It indicates intervention towards the mind, virtual projections on the real world and the likes. Upon reaching A Rank, nightmares on the mental world are a matter of course, but he can also easily create virtual images of about the size of a single village to deceive people.” The important thing to note is that it describes “Virtual projections on the real world.” Coupled with his clairvoyance, this means that Merlin could very easily be projecting some sort of physical “body” for himself to act through, even though it’s not his actual body. This would also explain why he’s got flowers coming out of him all the time always, because I believe that’s just a side effect of his magic-- and why one of his myroom lines is that he does not, in fact, throw flowers everywhere with each step. I say this is the least likely of the theories even though technically speaking it is one of the least likely, but it’s a possibility regardless and something worth keeping in mind.

2) This second theory deals with what Avalon is, does, and represents. Let us take a gander at what his profile says about Avalon: “Reproduces the 『tower』where Merlin is even now being confined on the surroundings. Flowers bloom in profusion and a warm sunlight shines on the ground, no matter what sort of darkness or hell that might be. Even if the space that he has been permitted with is nothing but a jail of mere 10 meters in all directions, and the scenery given to him is only an isolated emptiness found far away in the skies, it continues to exist as a utopia.“

The interesting thing to note about this is the phrasing. This could be a byproduct of the translation, but it’s all I have to go on, so: “The tower where Merlin is even now being confined.” Merlin is still absolutely confined within the tower. But! That’s not the important part of the profile in regards to Avalon: “The place where the magus Merlin is must not be a hell, but a land filled with hope.”

There it is. Avalon does not exist in any map. Avalon is a reflection of the world; the beautiful reflection of the world where hope exists above all else. Where even in the depths of despair, hope prevails. The solitary tower overlooking everything, even the fate of humanity. In Merlin’s Bond CE, it describes Avalon as “Avalon. Another name for the soul of the planet Earth itself, the inner sea of the star.” Let me just say this really bluntly to make my point clear: Avalon is the existential concept of hope and fate given “physical” form. Therefore, it would make sense for Avalon to be able to manifest itself where both the World’s and Humanity’s Hope is the strongest... Chaldea.

And thus the puzzle pieces fit together. Because Chaldea is humanity’s Last Hope with all this timeline fuckery, Merlin was able to materialize Avalon at or within Chaldea, giving him the opportunity to actually Be There. And, by extension, because of the technology Chaldea has where they transmit a Physical Body into a Spiritual One for time travel.... Well, suddenly Merlin’s got a body he can use to fuck everyone he can get his hands on be a servant.

And the last theory I have. The one that’s actually the least likely, but is still one of my favourites because I Love To Hurt. This one is the most bullshit and the most [insert me in a tinfoil hat pointing vigorously at a wall with a ton of different pictures all linked together by colourful lines, super conspiracy theory style]

3. Avalon is a prison meant to hold Merlin and Merlin alone. Its scripture states “Only the Innocent May Pass.” This is important, but it’s a point I will get back to later. If you read his Bond CE translation, it even says this:

“Now go, Cath Palug. I’m staying here. But you should go free, to touch truly beautiful things.” The man let his last companion out through a window, without showing any emotion. And so the mage continued to gaze at the world from that one window.

And that’s where things start to get fucked! Merlin says, specifically, “I’m staying here.” Not “I can’t leave,” or “I can’t go,” or any variation of that! Specifically “I’m saying here.” As though it’s his choice. In fact, the Bond CE text also says this: “It is here that that man closed off his own path, shutting himself into the tower, choosing a future where he could not die until the end of the star.”

The important part of this text is “That man closed off his own path, shutting himself into the tower.” It almost makes it sound like Merlin chose to enter the tower himself. Makes it sound like Merlin locked himself away. But didn’t the Lady of the Lake lock Merlin away for trying to seduce her? Well, actually, based on what the Wiki says: “Merlin has left King Arthur before the last battle with Mordred due to his problem with love affairs. He claims that the cold-mannered woman has been trying to murder him, and so he has taken refuge on the Reverse Side of the World, where he had crossed the boundary and stumbled into a foreign land known as Avalon.” It’s later revealed that Avalon was a trap, and as soon as he entered, the Tower rose to trap him. Given enough time, however, I’m sure he could find a way, or a loophole, to leave his tower. In fact, the inscription, as I mentioned before, is “Only the innocent may pass.” If Merlin considered himself innocent, could he not, then, pass? Guilt and Innocence are concepts based solely on the [self], after all. Ah... But that’s not the case, is it? Merlin feels guilty. Merlin feels guilty for.... Well, let’s take a look at his last profile paragraph.

“Possessing outstanding clairvoyance, in spite of having foreseen all about the collapse of he Round Table and Britain’s crisis, he left Britain without telling anything to King Arthur. There are many theories as for why Merlin never told King Arthur about her fate, but it is often said that it was because he is not biased towards individuals, instead caring only about fate. Afterwards, Merlin went to the utopia of Avalon and confined himself into a 『tower』.To ascertain the world of humans until the end of the universe, without being able to die.......as if to say that this is the fate of a foolish man, who playfully meddled with the fate of a single girl.”

Merlin saw everything. Merlin knew of everything that would happen. In the Once and Future King, Merlin can see the future and knows exactly what is going to happen, but is powerless to resist: or, alternatively, does not resist because he knows that That Is How Things Must Be. Merlin in FGO is the same. His profile confirms that his Clairvoyance applies not only to the present, but also the future: He knew Exactly how the Arthurian Cycle was going to play out. He knew he was going to be trapped in the tower; he knew it had to happen. Thus, even though Merlin did not lock himself in the tower, he still confined himself. He still left. He Had To. He had to follow the cycle; he had to perform as Fate willed. After all, Merlin is not biased towards individuals, but instead answers to Fate itself. However, as I mentioned, Merlin feels incredibly guilty for condemning Arturia to such a cruel fate. Even if that was how things had to be, he still felt guilty about “playfully meddling with the fate of a single girl.” But! It mentions on the Wiki that “After Merlin witnesses Saber’s last moments in the Fifth Holy Grail War, he is pleased with the outcome. He releases Cath Palug from the Garden of Avalon [...] He insists Cath Palug to seek freedom and to play into something really beautiful.” And thus is Merlin absolved of his Guilt. Arturia, his King-- and as his profile mentions, basically his daughter-- has finally found peace, has finally made peace with herself and her fate. And without that guilt, knowing that Arturia found peace... Well, he probably still regrets putting her through Hell, but Regret and Guilt are different. And so Avalon’s gates open. He carries Avalon with him wherever he goes, because it is the Tower where he is Always Destined to Be, but that’s why it is his Noble Phantasm. Because even though he’s finally outside of the tower, he will always return, and it will always be with him.

Let’s be honest with ourselves. As an independent news organization, it’s been tough covering the latest developments that have been happening in Las Vegas. There’s been a lot of mass confusion, a lot of speculation, a lot of people making up facts and a lot of people playing the blame game.

News organizations are citing unnamed sources, that supposedly fit the shooter in with their own political confirmation biases. We have been personally calling this out. Trying to give you the facts of the case with the latest developments. We will try again in this video to do it with integrity.

It’s going to become a lot more challenging to do. We’re getting alarming details from YouTube, who has just announced they will be tweaking their search results, as Las Vegas conspiracy theories rise to the top.

There are a lot of bat poop crazy conspiracy theories that muddy the water with disinformation and propaganda. They make it look like anyone who’s asking any critical questions of a major event is just a loony, crazy tinfoil hat wearing insane person. Those people do exist. The reason why this new YouTube policy announcement is frightening is not that it will stop those crazy people but because it will stop anyone asking any critical questions of any significant event in the future.

YouTube announced that it is accelerating the rollout of planned changes to its search engine. On Wednesday night the company began promoting more “authoritative sources” in search results especially for those about major news events. Who does the YouTube Google Alphabet monopoly view as an authoritative source of news? They won’t tell you, but most likely it’s the establishment voices of mainstream media corporations like CNN, MSNBC, and CNBC.

The mainstream media establishment has utterly lost their reputation with the American public. People are no longer watching TV news since they’re going online to get their information from unbiased, independent sources. Now those sources will be silenced, and they will be muted. They won’t be in the suggested videos, in the search engine results, and the won’t be in the recommended video lists.

These “authoritative” voices which previously lied about wars, lied about banker bailouts and so many other things those will be the institutions that now will control the narrative. While they continue silence, anyone, who is not a part of the establishment mainstream media particularly those that do not tow the status quo. This includes channels like WeAreChange and many other legitimate independent news channels on YouTube.

You the viewer are more critical than ever when it comes to sharing real legitimate criticisms of authority. YouTube will only allow the general public to see the authoritative voices which of course are all from mainstream media outlets. The mainstream media only regurgitates everything that the government and other authority figures tell them. Those who have been caught multiple times lying to the general public to hide either their incompetency or just criminal behavior.

The Washington Post has been mocking survivors off the Las Vegas Massacre. An example is there making fun of Instagram star Dan Brazilian who almost died that night. He saw a girl next to him get shot in the face. He lived through horror. The Washington Post has the audacity to make fun of him calling him a hypocrite and a coward. All because he fled the scene during a mass murder shooting.

What else are you supposed to do during a mass shooting? Making fun of a survivor of this horrendous event just really shows an all-time low for a discredited piece of rag that some people call a newspaper.

In reality, they are just a propaganda paper that has their own YouTube channel. A channel that YouTube will most likely see as an authoritative voice that will be pushed and recommended to everyone.

Let’s go over some of the details that have just emerged about this latest Las Vegas massacre. We are learning that the Las Vegas shooter transferred over $100,000 overseas in days before this attack.

His brother came out and said that there “wealthy people” and that $100,000 isn’t that much money for them.

We’re also learning that this Las Vegas shooter had fifty pounds of explosive materials in his car in addition to a couple of thousand rounds of ammo. This was sitting in the parking lot of the MGM Grand. He also had cameras set up inside and outside of his hotel room so he could monitor the entire situation as it went down.

We’re also discovering that he worked as a government employee for over a decade inside of the Department of Defense, IRS, and even the US Post Office.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that he was prescribed a psychotropic drug that can have serious side effects. It was prescribed several weeks before this incident. The medication is used as a sedative and a calming medication. However, the side effects can be confusion, hallucinations, unusual thoughts, or behavior; including unusual risk-taking behavior, decreased inhibition, no fear of danger, depressed mood, thoughts of suicide, or hurting oneself. They also include hyperactivity, agitation, aggression, and hostility.

The authorities say they have evidence that the Las Vegas shooter planned to survive and possibly escape this mass shooting. Photos leaked from inside of his hotel room apparently show a letter that he left. Authorities have since admitted to the presence of the letter but said it was not a suicide note. They have remained tight-lipped on the contents of it.

The discrepancies don’t just end there as there has been a room-service receipt leaked online that is leading many people to believe that there was a second person involved. The receipt lists that the room service was for two people and shows that the shooter was in the room on September 27th.

The hotel employee posted these receipts on his Facebook page before later deleting them. He wrote “I think. I talked to the Mandalay Bay assassin, and I was alone with him for several minutes.” The assailant’s name is on the receipt and directly contradicts the police reports of when this assassin checked into the hotel.

Supposedly the shooter had previously booked two rooms at the Blackstone Hotel in Chicago overlooking the Lollapalooza event and had rented multiple rooms looking over two separate festivals in Vegas and Chicago.

One of the events being a rap concert which directly contradicts Infowars attempts to assert without any evidence that the shooter was an anti-Trump liberal with ties to Antifa and ISIS.

An Iraq war vet gave the exact location of the Vegas shooter and said that it took the police over an hour to respond. He said it felt like it took them too long to get over there to take him out.

There’s a lot of theories and speculation out there about what happened. What was the motive why did this happen. Some of which have been thoroughly debunked. This still leaves a lot of important questions that are not being answered. The authorities are being very tight-lipped, they even say that the motive remains elusive to them.

Whatever the truth may be it’s still important to ask the critical questions and not just participate in wild theories since I refuse to do that.

There are forces behind the scenes that are looking to benefit from this tragedy. Not only by politicizing it but by pushing other political agendas. This significant event will create changes for our way of life. We’ve seen the New York Times wrote an op-ed today calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment.

We’ve also seen a bizarre post on 4chan made three weeks ago by an anonymous poster who called themselves John. He wrote warning users to stay away from any gatherings or large groups of people in the Vegas area. He stated that he had insider knowledge of what he referred to as a “high incident project.” He even wrote that he couldn’t guarantee anything would happen but that Las Vegas is “on their minds.”

Then he went on to correctly name former head of the Department of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff and casino owner and billionaire Sheldon Alderson. He felt these two men are set to profit most from the wave of new regulations set to spring up in response to this Vegas incident. This is just a random 4chan post so take that with a grain of salt. The fact does remain that people like Chertoff and those behind similar companies do stand to profit.

We’re already seeing the push by media organizations like The Huffington Post who write saying “Do U.S. hotels need metal detectors.”

Already metal detectors and body scanners have been placed in some Las Vegas hotels in response to this incident. Former chief of staff of the Department of Homeland Security a former CIA agent now CEO of the Chertoff Group went on CNBC. He said, “In a free society there’s no way to eliminate this kind of risk.” So he said in a free society you will not be safe, freedom is bad, and then recommended: “in addition to Intelligence Sharing you can also do a number of steps to establish a secure perimeter using various types of screening technology.”

Screening technologies which refer to body scanners and metal detectors. Which the Chertoff group that he is CEO of manages. This security consulting agency includes a client that manufactures the machines. His company directly represents the companies that make the scanners. That’s why even Gawker put it in 2009 that “Why is Michael Chertoff is so excited about full-body scanners?”

A company that people described in effect is a shadow Homeland Security Agency. This group has recruited at least 11 top officials from the Department of Homeland Security as well as former CIA director Michael Hayden.

I think it’s important for the American people to understand that the same authoritative voices that are having representatives and CEOs of major companies pushing for body scanners are also the ones who are going to be selling them.
