I just saw the Titanic recording at the TOFT archive. Was not prepared for the set design. An absolute modern marvel. It was a neverending bag of magic tricks that kept surprising me until the very end. Off the top of my head I can’t think of a set that compares or at least I haven’t seen one. Yes, there is the tilting but there are also “smaller” moments that they didn’t even need to do but they did for the splendor.
There are two moments from Encores that I was surprised to see were not part of the original staging: the champagne bottle spray at the end of Remarkable Age and the entire staging of Latest Rag.
I said this before but Martin Moran is unbearably adorable as Bride.
After “Surely if someone to take the blame, it is you,” Michael Cerveris clearly mouths “Fuck!”

“NARVIK” (2023): Heroic Norwegian beat back of Nazi invaders
It is April 1940. The eyes of the world turn to Narvik, a small town in northern Norway, the source of the iron ore needed for Nazi Germany’s war machinery. Following two months of fierce winter warfare, Hitler suffers his first defeat. https://youtu.be/cXUPmKR2Lz8 “NARVIK” (2023): Heroic Norwegian beat back of Nazi invaders Film Review by John Smistad If you are native to Norway, or of direct Norwegian descent as am I, and you are not proud as hell of what you watch in the new Word War II drama “Narvik”, then I can say to you only this…...“Uff Dah, kampis!” Best hang on to your fanny, friends Director and Co-Writer Erik Skjoldbjærg have succeeded in constructing a relentlessly riveting and emotionally wrenching film of genuinely epic proportion. Skjoldbjærg cuts no corners in his magnificent chronicling of a true, though the egregiously under-recognized, narrative of profound human courage and perseverance. This is the remarkable story of the residents of a small Norwegian fishing village who rally together, rising up in resistance against German forces which have invaded and occupied their close-knit community. To hell with British shipping cooperation in recognition of Norway’s declaration of neutrality while the war raged across both Europe and Asia. To these marauders, it represents a critical port they must secure to supply the Swedish iron ore necessary to fuel their assault on the world. To the inhabitants, it is home to centuries of proud Norwegian patriots. An "army" of just two Kristine Hartgen and Carl Martin Eggesbø are equally superb here as Ingrid and Army Korporal Gunnar Tofte, a young married couple with a just turned six-year-old son. Together, and each in their own way, they team with fellow townspeople to battle the ruthless Nazis who have claimed their land and waters for themselves. Facing impossible odds, they succeed in driving the enemy out of their fjord (sadly, within mere weeks Norway would succumb completely to Nazi domination). But not before their union is tested to the core, and the blood of far too many friends and family have been spilled in grim defiance. The battle of Narvik marked Nazi Fuhrer Adolf Hitler's first defeat in his maniacal mission to conquer the planet. And it still stands as the largest battle ever fought on Norwegian soil. May God Bless Norge that this deeply lamentable fact remains forever unchanged. “Narvik” became the number one movie on Netflix in only its second day of streaming on the platform. ******************** My video review of the dramatic Norwegian monster flick "TROLL" is on my YouTube CHANNEL now @ this link: JOHN SMISTAD, "THE QUICK FLICK CRITIC", reviews the epic action-adventure monster flick "TROLL"! - YouTube SUBSCRIBE for FREE to be notified when my next new vid drops! ‘Becque à Barbe / Face to face’ - Martin Toft
The Last 100: A Portrait of Jèrriais
On 19 December 2016 the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2019 as the International Year of Indigenous Languages. In that same year myself and @garethsyvret (former Photo Archivist at @societejersiaise) began research around Jérriais – the island of Jersey’s native language of Norman French. In the 2001 Jersey Census people were asked questions about their use and understanding of Jèrriais. In the census Islanders were asked which language they spoke. Out of a total of 87,186 residents of Jersey in 2001, 2874 spoke or understood Jèrriais at some level (3.3%). Out of this number 113 people described Jèrriais as their main language. There was no language question in the most recent census of 2011.
The project, The Last 100: A Portrait of Jèrriais hosted by the Sociète Jersiaise Photographic Archive asks: who were the hundred and thirteen and seeks to photograph them and hear their stories. In an island made of granite most names are forms of the Celtic, Norse and Latin words for rock. Most Jersey place names are also using proper French rather than Jèrriais, although there are variants of place names that native speakers would have used in a local context. Juxtaposed with portraits of Jérriais speakers are a series photographs of Jersey rocks that are all designated as Special Sites of Interest (SSIs); important geological outcrops that are protected from development and preserved for future public enjoyment and research purposes. The native speakers of Jersey French could also be classified as Special People of Interest (SPIs) and the concept of juxtaposing a portrait, or rather face of a native speaker with an image of a rock face is to examine how Jérriais is used, not only to describe characteristics of people but also how it is embedded in Jersey’s native tongue in describing a landscape. On a linguistic level the project is exploring the space between the formal, etymological and vernacular use of Jérriais. Photography as a medium is mute and the challenge is to photograph, what essentially is a spoken language.
More info: https://www.bailiwickexpress.com/jsy/news/watch-who-are-113-jerriais-speakers/#.XP9gxIgzY2w
How to record a spoken language? A vital project is currently underway in Jersey to save the island's indigenous language Jèrriais (Jersey French) and create an audio archive of spoken words. Linguists Dr Mari Jones from Cambridge University and Dr Julia Sallabank, SOAS are currently in Jersey leading community workshops on how to record conversations among native speakers. At Archisle we will soon be embarking on a new project, The Last 100, making a set of large-format portraits of islanders who indicated in a recent consensus that Jèrriais were their first language. Other images will also be made that conceptually explore the language of Jèrriais' unique sound, symbolism and semantics, including its common use in Jersey place-names, such as rocks.
True Jerseyman, Francois Le Maistre, son of Frank Le Maistre from St Ouen who in 1966 published his remarkable dictionnaire Jersiais-Français - a collection of more than 17,000 words and phrases in Jèrriais will be one of the first to be photographed as part of our visual anthropology of first language speakers. In the meantime if you want to get involved with the above Jerriais community audio recording project click here. https://www.facebook.com/events/1921127284800222/

High-End Biotech Business, Denmark
Transforming a traditional experimental farm into a high-end biotech business Since 1947, Sejet Plant Breeding has been a leader in the breeding of modern varieties of grain. The company is located in the small town of Sejet, in Jutland, within easy reach of the rest of Denmark and the rest of Europe. It has recently put its new main entrance building into use; a building that underlines the company’s importance as a High-End Biotech Business that develops and refines modern varieties of grain for an international market.
“Experimental farms are considered by many to be a bit old-fashioned,” says Birger Eriksen, the CEO of Sejet Plant Breeding. “The new entrance building makes it clear that our company is not just an experimental farm. It is a modern biotech-based business with state-of-the-art laboratories, where we use the latest technologies and develop new genetics at an international level.”
The stately brick buildings from 1947 have now been given a modern entrance portal. The new entrance is respectful of those buildings, complementing their robust expression with a simple, light construction that conveys the company’s modern ambitions.
Architecture planting seeds for a modern biotech business Martin Schack, an architect and partner at GinnerupArkitekter, explains: “With great respect for the classic courtyard motif, we have designed a straightforward building that carefully binds together the older buildings by only touching them with glass. At the same time, we let the motif of the courtyard flow through the new building.”
With large glass sections, round skylights, and light strips in glass which connect the new entrance with the existing buildings, the whole effect is modern and transparent, eliminating the difference between the interior and the landscape outside. It is an elegant complement to the nature that surrounds this biotech business.
Natural materials The interior stands out with its use of beautiful natural stone on the floors, the counter, and on selected parts of the walls – all in a warm grey tone that mimics the pavement of the courtyard. In addition to natural stone, the architects chose oak as an important material with which to connect the new to the existing. The old farmhouse has been transformed into a modern part of the company, with meeting and conference facilities. Its herringbone parquet flooring has been preserved. The architects have added slatted walls and wooden panels in oak, thus continuing the parquet in vertical movements. The careful choice of highly textured and natural materials is appropriate for the company’s brand.
Danish design throughout GinnerupArkitekter designed all the fixtures and fittings, and the green frame tables with surfaces in green linoleum. The colour green reappears in the textured paint on the walls. The precious materials and the company are further emphasized in the choice of furniture, with lamps from Louis Poulsen, curtains from Kvadrat, Wegner furniture, and water armature and handles in brass designed by Arne Jacobsen for d line.
About GinnerupArkitekter Permanent architectural solutions, this is what GinnerupArkitekter aims for every time they build new projects. The design studio is led by four committed partners with a strong team of 20 passionate and competent employees. At the same time, GinnerupArkitekter have solid experience dating back to 1978. In addition to day-care institutions, the studio primarily designs high-quality housing projects, high-end villas, ambitious business projects, and a range of technical facilities.

The Rain is a Danish post-apocalyptic | Tv Review
The Rain is a Danish post-apocalyptic streaming television series created by Jannik Tai Mosholt, Esben Toft Jacobsen and Christian Potalivo. The first season aired on Netflix in May, 2018 and has a total of 3 seasons. It stars Alba August as Simone Andersen, Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen as Rasmus Andersen, Mikkel Følsgaard as Martin, Lukas Løkken as Patrick, Jessica Dinnage as Lea, Sonny Lindberg as Jean, Angela Bundalovic as Beatrice, Natalie Madueño as Fie, Clara Rosager as Sarah, Evin Ahmad as Kira, Johannes Bah Kuhnke as Sten, Rex Leonard as Daniel. When a virus carried by the rain destroys majority of the population in Scandinivia, Simone and Rasmus, take shelter in a bunker. More than six years later, they eave the bunker in search for their father (a scientist) who left them in the bunker and did not return. On the way, they meet a group of survivors and travellers, along with whom they cross Denmark and Sweden in search of food and a safe place. There journey to find the answers is truly amazing. The show establishes mystery right from the 1st episode. The first ten minutes are enough for us to realize that Rasmus, the young boy, is of great importance. The show leaves you thinking. The mystery keeps getting more complicated and intense as the show proceeds. The way the story picks up and the way Simone is taken out from school by her father is jarring. You might want to watch this series, especially now during the pandemic because it somewhat shares a similar storyl Read the full article

Crítica, The Rain - Segunda Temporada | Desencaixados
Enquanto a crítica da Terceira (e última) temporada não sai. Confira a nossa crítica da temporada anterior
Título: The Rain
Título Original: The Rain
Ano de lançamento: 2020
Temporadas: 3
Episódios: 1ª Temporada – 8 / 2ª Temporada – 6
Gênero: Distopia
Criação: Jannik Tai Mosholt,Christian Potalivo,Esben Toft Jacobsen
Nacionalidade: Dinamarca
Sinopse: “Seis anos após um vírus exterminar quase toda a população da Escandinávia, dois irmãos e um grupo de jovens sobreviventes partem em busca de segurança - e de respostas.
Fala galera! Hoje vamos falar sobre The Rain.
