I love your wand headcanons! What do you think about Cross, Komui, and Lvellie (i think that's how you spell it o.o)?

Eeeep! Thank you, thank you, thank you!  I’m so happy people are liking these, especiallybecause I almost didn’t bother to make my initial post on it. XD  I just answered Cross and Komui in a separateask, but I’ve attached links at the end of this to all the other charactersI’ve done so far!

MalcomC. LvellieHornbeam, dragon heartstring, 11 inches, very rigid.“Hornbeam wands likewise absorb their owner’s code of honour, whatever thatmight be, and will refuse to perform acts - whether for good or ill - that donot tally with their master’s principles..” (Pottermore)

Hornbeam made the most sense for Lvellie in my mind.  This is a wand meant for someone with astrong goal, so much that they might even be called obsessive (and I can’t help but think to how dead set Lvellie is topreserving human life and being victorious in the holy war).  This is also a wand that will adapt to thewielder’s moral code, regardless ofwhether it is actually good or bad (and Lvellie’s code is definitelyquestionable).  Lvellie’s conviction is what causes hornbeam toseem such a fitting choice for him, as that appears to be one of the wayshornbeam connects to its wielder.For his core, I gave Lvellie dragon heartstring.  I imagine Lvellie would have quite a powerfulwand, but would not do well with a phoenix feather as that core tends to havemore of a will than dragon heartstring. Dragon heartstring is a core that, not always, but sometimes leanstoward a darker corner as well.

Any idea why Lvellie seems to put so much faith in Link? I know such a strong subordinate isn't easy to find, but the level of trust Lvellie shows seems strange and him begging old Zu to save Link really surprised me. Is he really so sure Link will never betray him or there's something more behind his character that we still don't know?

I’ve always felt a Frollo-Quasimodo vibe from their relationship (but that’s probably the Hugo fan in me screaming). So, in this sense, their relationship is sincere although twisted. I feel like Lvellie deep down isn’t the cold man he seems to be and he onestly (from his point of view) cares for link. Anyway, his thirst for (power?? Victory??) whatever feeling leads him to fight for the holy war is stronger than any feelings he has for his loved ones, as it could be suggested by the fact that the Lvellies sacrificed their children for the war.

On the other side, Link is a man of honor. Hes sincerely grateful to Lvellie for giving him a place in this world (and maybe taking care of him, who knows?). Lvellie knows that. I don’t know if he does it consciously or not, but Lvellie is rather manipulative toward Link and takes advantage of it. This is why I consider their relationship twisted: Lvellie has the lead. Link’s feelings and personality are caged. We can all agree that Link started to sincerely care for Allen and probably even roots for him, but his loyalty belongs to the one that grew him.

Anyway, someone theorized that Link is the designated ultimate host for the 14th. It’s no news that Lvellie would sacrifice someone to achieve his goal. Although there’s no evidence for that, I think it would fit the character perfectly. He’s also an incredibly strong fighter.

Little trivia: Hoshino said that when she drew Lvellie begging for Link’s life, it was very easy to draw. She has always perceived Lvellie as that kind of character.

Allen und Johnny’s chess habit

In the 14th volume after the second panel on page 122, I really wanted to include a scene where Johnny and Allen meet to talk about Suman. I thought, that I wanted to do a short story where Allen, who ended up seeing all of Suman’s memories, after his return to the Order, “challenges  Johnny to a chess game” just like Suman. However, I decided to cut it because with that alone I could have filled “half of the at that time weekly published chapter“ and it would have affected the pacing of the story in a bad way. Because I had to part with the drawing spot eventually, I casually put in a depiction after the arc of the Fallen One that conveyed, that Allen and Johnny got into a chess habit.

Lvellie: I’m the Central Office Special Inspector Malcom C. Lvellie

I had planned to introduce Lvellie as the person that symbolizes the central office, but at the beginning I hadn’t thought too deeply about the existence of Link. Actually, at this point in time I had no confidence, if there would ever come a place to use the setup, that as a former CROW he had high fighting abilities. [TN: I split the sentence here bc Hoshino tends to make hers super long ;;] So for the time being, I put these deeply meaningful marks on his forehead as an insurance. Later on I decided upon the progress that would demonstrate Link’s CROW skill and gave the other CROWs the same mark as his. This mark was born from an “insurance”.

Reconciliation before one knows

Although there is a little of that depicted in the scene that explains the Crystal Type, I intended at that point in time to draw a story about the relationship between Komui and Lenalee being awkward. At the time when the Headquarter was under attack Lenalee drank innocence in front of bewildered Komui and he isn’t able to accept the fact that she transformed into a Crystal Type and distances himself from Lenalee… Although there was this chapter, I carelessly forgot and ended up putting in the Komuvitan incident. I….was probably exhausted from the Headquarter Attack Arc…. (laughs shyly). But the girl’s ghost that showed up during the Komuvitan incident however did good work. She created the progress that untied the feelings of those awkward two. If you got interested, please take a look at JC 17th volume p. 45-47.

17th volume 167th night

The parting (of hair) of Allen that reveals his decision

Just after his meeting with Cross, I changed the parting of his front hair from right in the middle to being on the left side, where his cursed scar is. Because Allen is the type that crushes his feelings to death with the mask of a habitual gentleman [TN: ;A;], I thought that I wanted something that symbolizes his decision visually. Because of that, to reveal his change of mental state, I decided to show his pentacle that he had hidden until now up front. But, well, if I draw it, Allen’s disturbance is transmitted. I think that from this hit/blow, Allen must have been really desperate. Although I think that Lenalee got aware of that change, she doesn’t say anything. From then on Allen started to claim “I was loved by Mana” by the pentacle inflicted by Mana.

14. Who is your favorite character from the Noah family and why?

Tyki! I like his general more lazy and relaxed and friendly attitude and think he and his human friends are cute together! And now that there is this whole mystery concerning his backstory, who wouldn’t be interested? He’s an all time fave character tbh.

15. Who is your favorite character from the Exorcist!

Definitely Allen! Because, well, it’s Allen. What’s there not to love? And if he doesn’t count as an exorcist anymore, I’d say Timothy. He’s my precious smol son and I’ll protect him forever.

26. What are your thoughts about the Akuma?

I liked their concept from the start. It’s interesting, dark, actually kinda gory and something else. Also I’m wondering if Nea could create Akuma too or if that’s just a trait only Mana possessed…?

37. Which character would you not help out in a tough situation?

Malcom C. Lvellie or however we’re spelling his last name currently. He can burn for all I care. Also whatever creepy thing took control of Mana in front of the mirror. AND APOCRYPHOS. This thing I’d personally throw over a cliff.
