How would you bring Crowley back in a sequel? I know you see Rowena and being Queen of Hell still.

Oh, Crowley is hard. I'm going to have to get back to you on this one after work.

Off the bat, I think...you'd have to resist the temptation to have him too tied up with Dean. He's got so much more than that, and he could easily get too pigeon-holed and doomed to campy caricature within the plot. Crowley's got that complicated, painful humanity you can utilize, plus that tragic, tragic ambition...that he never overcame his humble background.

I mean, most importantly, you have to look at how Crowley died. After he lost Gavin, he gave into full-throttle kingly ambition, searching for a meaning he couldn't fill up with human friendships or relationships, so I think you'd have to take Crowley back further than what we saw in SPN Prime.

You'd have to take him all the way back to that insecure guy, Fergus, who drank himself to death and got victimized by a demon in that alleyway. (I think you could even bring Gavin back into it, eventually. That was a horrifically painful thing between him and Rowena. Also, Oskar!)

One way you could tackle this, I think, is bringing in Crowley's father. Crowley's father would be able to hit at Crowley's vulnerability and give him a "nobility/royalty/status" that he always felt he lacked.

So, you could do Crowley's father being the one to spring Crowley from The Empty. Then you'd have this mini side-war B plot between Rowena and Crowley's dad, tying somehow into the main plot with Sam and Dean II.

You'd have Rowena being Queen of Hell, yes, and trying to covertly help Sam and Dean II while saving face in her kingdom. Simultaneously, she's trying to best her OG abuser and get Crowley away from that guy's clutches.

Meanwhile, Crowley's completely under his father's spell, to the point he'd kill Dean II without a second thought, because he's tired of the Winchesters always winning at everyone else's expense. Maybe, he's still spiraling into that horrible nihilism, which will be especially pronounced after reliving his worst memories in The Empty.

And it's hard, right? Because Rowena's kind of doing too little, too late. How can Crowley believe her love is real, given all that she did before?

The fabled, infamous buckled collar shirt… Opens. He’s usually always wearing his cowl and vest so you can’t usually tell. He does love wearing shirts with open/low collars, which you can esp tell by the Daydream Hour outfits Kui designed for him, so makes sense. And yet… The buckle collar…

If u don’t think this is the same shirt btw he actually does up his collar when meeting the canaries. Just 1 scene difference before after, below. He likes to open up his collars when the setting is more casual but business or action happens and it’s back to being all proper and laced up

Btw idk if it’s a mistake but that screentone on Chilchuck’s chest in the second picture of the post… Is Kui telling us he has body hair. Idk is he dirty does he need a shower?? Kui doesn’t draw Senshi with much body hair in the manga for practicality reasons but she did draw in a Daydream Hour once how much she actually thinks he has, so it wouldn’t be crazy if this was the case for Chil too, and then in a final chapter in a close shot panel where she even details the seams of the shirt she can go all out more. Kui talks about peach fuzz and whatnot for elves so maybe they’re just finer or paler in his case. Please please please— Sigh ok it’s a screentone mistake

One of my all time biggest pet peeves with historical(ish) fantasy is when the writer constructs a religion with a clear bias that it's stupid and false and therefore only the Stupid People and/or commoners believe in it and all the smart/elite main characters are like, quasi-atheists or otherwise just routinely flout established religious conventions of orthodoxy and/or orthopraxy because they're Too Smart for it or etc.

It's usually an extension of assumptions that people in the past were just less intelligent than in the contemporary, just being like "I know that the sun is a star millions of miles away that the earth orbits, but this ancient religion describes it as a chariot flying through the sky" and not really bothering to learn the context and just (consciously or subconsciously) settling on 'that's a crazy thing to think and was probably believed in because they were Stupid'.

And that whole attitude pisses me off so much. People were as 'smart' 10,000 years ago as they are today. These beliefs aren't just desperate, random flailing to explain phenomena that could not directly be accounted for either, it's not like people just looked at the sun and went "Uhhh I don't know what the fuck that thing is, actually. I guess it might be a chariot or a boat or something?? Yeah let's go with that." and based entire religious practices on this. Every well-established belief system exists within broader contexts of cultural values/subjective perceptions of reality/knowledge systems/etc, and exist as part of a historical continuum of religious practices that came before. Even when not Materially Correct, they have context and internal logic, they're not always dead literal with zero levels of allegory, and they're never a result of stupidity.
