this is a lil bit old!!! sorry about that but yes lemme tell you about my trash sons

and yes i do say sons because my warden??? is actually 2 wardens. i have duel wardens. i dual wield wardens. i may or may not explain below. altho if imma be real with you anon i have... a warden of literally every single origin. i kid you not. i even have multiple of one origin just because i can. im only gonna answer this for my main two but if you wanna know about the rest lemme know lmfao

so. maeron mahariel ey. thats me boy. my garbage trash boy. i love him so much hes such a terrible garbage boy. 

hes obviously a dalish elf because thats my favorite origin out of any of them tbh its just... the best in my opinion. hes like... really sarcastic and doesnt take anyones shit? hes also apparently extremely charismatic because literally every romance option in the game fell in love with him (even alistair!!!! my game fuckin glitched and he kept calling maeron his love!!!! what the fuck!!!! this guy sucks how do they all love him!!!!) 

he likes to joke around and just wreck shit up, but hes honestly a good person deep down. hes just got a kinda prickly exterior a tiny bit like fenris does? not too similar tho. he has a lot of snark and a lot of sass up his sleeve and will not take any shit from any shem and will take literally every single possible opprotunity to piss off the chantry to piss off the chantry. hence why he poisons the ashes of andraste. he literally chose the party that would be the most “i dont care about andraste” to andrastes ashes so that no one would be overly disapproving or shocked when he poisoned the ashes. like he literally heard the option and went “oh shit wait i can do that??? fuck. damn. oh thatll piss em off. thatll show em. fuck yall. aight hold on lets reevaluate who im bringing with me lets swing back to camp---”

maeron is just... hes all over the place. he loves his two boyfriends ok he loves both zevran and my other warden, bandon surana, who is the second warden i know imma talk about. like i said i dual wield wardens. anyway hes a really considerate lover, although he does love to tease. hes a hopeless romantic in his own very passive way, and hes very loyal. in fact hes loyal to his friends too. hes just loyal in general. even the wardens, however much he despised them at first for forcing him among their ranks when he was honestly begging to stay with his clan whether he would die in their care or not. 

speaking of that he put up. such a fuckin fight with duncan from the moment he truly met that man. he was ready to literally fight duncan for telling him tamlen was dead, he refused to believe it, and he was so fuckin angry at him for telling him its useless to look for him anymore. and THEN this VERY SAME SHEM tell hims that hes gonna be forced to be a part of some order he barely remembers shit about, which he is 1000% sure is gonna be mostly human, and he is pissed as hell. his life is his clan, his home is with his clan, hed be leaving everything he ever knew and he wanted nothing to do with that. he yelled so many curses at duncan, he insulted him so much, and yet duncan liked his fire. liked his determination and his spirit and his resilience and put the right of conscription on him. he didnt forgive duncan until right after the battle at ostagar. he was so cold and hostile towards duncan, he barely ever spoke a word of common to him. it was all elven. he spoke common when necessary, like when he first met alistair, or when he insulted the chantry woman who tried to give him an andrastian blessing. he never let people forget he was dalish. he proudly wore his vallaslin around and made sure no one forgot that a dalish was among their ranks, and that he was an elf that was to be respected, not looked down upon unless you were ready to face the consequences of that. 

he immediately took a liking to alistair because of how he sassed the circle mage. he likes that. he liked the sass. he is also a sassy boy so he was like “yes. mutual sass.” and just really likes the guy. they hit it off really well really quick. alistair noticed his vallaslin and mentioned another warden from his joining had vallaslin as well, but didnt say much other than that. that kinda haunted maeron for a bit like holy shit another dalish what but he didnt really show it. cause at the time they were heading back to duncan and then they were gonna go into the wilds and blah blah blah and then like

bandon surana was assigned to go with alistair as well, because while he wasnt the junior recruit, hes a spirit healer (as well as a dreamer, but thats not as important) and a very strong one at that. he was originally from maerons clan, the first of it in fact. he was very happy and proud of being first. not only was he first, tho, but he was maeron and tamlens best friend as well. like they were an unstoppable trio, even if bandon was super busy with studies a lot. they always kept him company and found some way to let him have fun and have a laugh. but drunk templars stumbled upon their camp one night and attacked them. they were easily overwhelmed by the clan, but not before they got young bandon and took him away to kinloch hold. in my restructuring of the timeline cause fuck you bioware it doesnt make sense for so much of this weird shit to happen at the same time spread it out a bit if you dont pick the certain origin, bandon escaped from the circle alongside jowan like a year and a half prior to the events of da:o. i imagine bandon and jowan kept pretty close for a while until bandon split upon hearing words of a dalish clan nearby and wanting to go back to something familiar that he missed a lot. he actually stumbled upon the dalish clan zathrian was in charge of, and zathrian took him in. zathrian really really liked bandon, said he reminded him of his son. bandon was quite close to zathrian because of this. he also got his vallaslin from this clan, which made him quite happy despite it not being his original clan. when the werewolves attacked, however, and the curse started to spread, bandon became curious and tried to question zathrian and get to the root of the problem, but zathrian would not give him the details he needed. 

so bandon, determined to find some way to help, decided to take off from the clan and try and get outsiders to assist. he ran into duncan, who was bringing alistair back from the monastery. he approached them very cautiously and introduced himself, and he struck up idle conversation with them for a minute to try and ease into his point, but he was cut off when they were ambushed. it was in that fight that bandon proved himself a strong fighter, healer, and a very smart and strategic mage. he very easily slid from using magic to using his staff for up close attack, not being put off guard by anything, and duncan was really impressed. he let bandon come along with them to talk to him more, get to know the man he was. after talking with him, it was set in stone for duncan that, yea, this boy was definitely also grey warden material and he should be recruited. so bandon was in the same joining as alistair, and bandon never REALLY forgot the danger his new clan was in, but he knew that it wouldnt matter anymore if the blight got them. 

so when duncan brings back maeron, who is still tainted and risks getting weak and sick out in the wilds, he sends bandon out with them, as not only is he a very very very powerful mage and healer, but hes also dalish and never stopped studying the old ways, not matter where he was taken, and he knows the magic the keeper used to stabalize maeron back at their clan. so he sent out the traditional junior warden aka alistair but also an extra warden whose only REAL job was to make sure maeron didnt die from the blight instead of in battle. 

maeron was literally... so overjoyed to see him. he never thought hed see bandon again and bandon was shocked to see maeron. bandon literally just dropped his staff and had to do a double take and maeron fuckin sprinted over to him and hugged him really tightly, picking him up off the ground and spinning him around and bandon just laughed and was the happiest guy on earth cause holy shit his best friend what are the fuckin odds!!! it was great they were both so happy and duncan was happy to finally see maeron happy about something here. 

so yea i have 2 wardens here. and its important really to mention that cause like the reason i put them together is because of how i wanted my end to go??? like tbh i have ALL my wardens in the same worldstate, because thats how i roll, but when its just the two of them like... yea. 

maeron is my big guy throughout the whole thing. bandon lived through it because he wasnt too far on the front lines since he was a mage and he managed to get out of ostagar with a bunch of other people retreating. they pick him up where you pick up the dog. you get both a dog and a boy in this situation. so hes more of a companion than anything. him and maeron get together first, and then they both fall for zevran and zevran falls for the both of them, and they get in a polyamory. its wonderful and great and they love each other a lot. but then the final battle happens 

maeron decides hes gonna be the one to kill the archdemon, since he put alistair as the sole ruler of the throne and no one wants the king to die, so he was like ill die its fine. and that was the plan. everyone said their goodbyes to maeron like maeron was going to go... except for bandon. bandon seemed pretty confident it would all be ok. it made maeron worried, but he put it aside because he was trying to accept the fact he was going to be dying soon. 

so they fight the archdemon. maeron brings alistair, zevran, morrigan, and bandon. theyre all fighting its going great, and maeron sees the opening to kill the archdemon and is like “im gonna go in!!! time to end this!!!”

and then bandon just grabs his wrist and yanks him into a kiss, and takes his face in his hands and tells him that hes got so much to live for so much left to do and so many people left to sass and that it wouldnt be fair if bandon let him make the sacrifice. he told him he loved him in elven of course, then let him go and ran to zevran, kissing him as well and telling him a goodbye and that he loved him, then ran to the archdemon to kill it. maeron and zevran went fuckin ballistic, trying to go after him and grab him because this wasnt the plan this wasnt what was supposed to happen this wasnt right this was all wrong but bandon made the ultimate sacrifice in the end, and literally everyone was shocked. no one could really believe that just fuckin happened, even though they had all noticed bandons hesitance at accepting the plan, and they had all noticed how overly chill he was when saying goodbye to maeron. they all felt like they should have expected it, but it hit them like a ton of bricks. 

in my canon with ALL of my wardens tho, basically the same thing happens, except one of my 3 cousland siblings did the ritual with morrigan behind everyones back, because he was romantically involved with her and she asked him to do it and he was like yea i dont want anyone to die lmao. so the exact same shit happens except bandon fuckin lives and everyone is like whAT THE FUCK 1) HOW IS HE ALIVE AND 2) BANDON WHAT THE HELL WHY DID YOU DO THAT

and then everette (my cousland) was like “oh who o ps i.... i forgot to mention the ritual i did with morrigan huh oopsie” and then that just... goes down as the biggest scare in literally all of their lives everyone who was up there fighting aside from morrigan and everette were like thanks for scarring us for life i love it we though we lost the person we werent supposed to lose and you hid the very important detail that he would live from us so yikes my man

but yea i think.... ive rambled enough... about my wardens for now i love them a lot and im very willing to talk about them more if you have any specific questions or wanna hear about any others but for now i think i need to stop ive written so fuckin much holy shit im so sorry

sabrae lavellan thinks that dorian is the most skilled fighter in his party, and thats not just because he is very gay for the dude. he admires the concentration he knows it takes to be able to control the direction of the magic, and the intensity, and how to channel the fade, as well as the sheer amount of energy it sucks from you to cast large spells at the intensity and frequency dorian does. he actually would take dorian in a fight if dared, because he thinks his speed, cunning, and close range fighting could rival dorians magic and movement of his staff

mathalin fen’an (sabraes older brother) believes that cassandra is the most skilled fighter in the party, and he respects her greatly. he wouldnt take her in a fight if dared, because he wants to keep his distance from her. he thinks cassandra is an amazing person, but as a bloodmage, he wants her to be comfortable and he believes his presence frightens her and hurts her emotionally, so he tries not to be around her as much even though he takes her with him on his adventures because he needs her level of skill and expertise. plus, he knows he would, on impulse, use blood magic against her, and he thinks thats the worst thing he could possibly do to her. he knows she must not trust him, and that saddens him more than anything, so he tries to keep on her good side as much as he can while still practicing his craft and doing what feels natural to him.

austin hawke thinks that fenris is the most skilled fighter in his party, and again, this isnt because hes very in love with him. he thinks fenris holds himself well, carries himself across the battlefield with finesse and care that he could never match, even as a rogue. watching fenris fight is amazing to him, as it seems like second nature to him. he believes fenris’ skills are unmatched, so he would rather not fight him on a dare. hed do whatever they told him to do instead.

maeron mahariel actually believes that his fellow warden, bandon surana, is the most skilled fighter in his party. he remembers him from when they were young children, reckless and unafraid, and bandon was learning to be the first of the clan. he remembers it well, and hes never forgotten it. he knows how horrible it must have been for the first to be taken to a circle, trying to retain who he was and learn what he was supposed to learn only using what was provided from the books in the library, which he can only assume wasnt much. even so, bandon has become one of the most skilled mages hes ever met, and just straight up in general. he thinks bandon controls his dreamer powers well for someone who must have had to hide it from those of the circle, even though it had to have been difficult, and to also be a spirit healer just piled onto that. and when he learned the skills needed to be an arcane warrior and took it in stride even though it obviously frustrated him to no end, he still mastered it with surprising ease. maeron never ceases to be amazed by his darling vhenan and will never stop being surprised by him and his abilities (and neither will he and bandons other vhenan, zevran, who is also quite impressed with him) he would absolutely try and fight bandon on a dare, if only to show that he would at least try

bandon surana thinks that alistair is the most skilled. he thinks that hes very talented, strong, and even if he lacks a certain grace, finesse, and eye for locating traps, he’s still an incredible warrior and has the potential to be an amazing fighter. with more training and more experience, alistair could possible be the best. he was certainly better than some hunters he remembers from both clans he was part of, and most of the templars from the circle (his escape with jowan proved that well enough). he actually wouldnt fight alistair, only for the fact that he really just doesnt want infighting even if its on a dare and just a spar for fun. only for training would he do that.

About a fact about my oc, anuk mahariel is vegetarian and at the beginning of the game he kinda has the personality of aang (atla). Likes to meditate and tries to be a peaceful person and talk whenever he can.

maeron mahariel is like.... the opposite tbh

hes not a vegetarian and he is honestly one of the most passive aggressive, cold, rude people you could have ever met at the beginning of origins. he wanted nothing to do with anyone or anything and absolutely hated everything about being forced into the grey wardens by right of conscription (because he literally fought that hard to stay and die of the blight in his clan because he lost tamlen and he loved tamlen more than anything and hed lost another extremely important person to him a while before that as well) and hed never given much of a shit about himself in the first place so hed have rather died, so he was such an ass to everyone

hes just so impulsive and doesnt care about being peaceful he just lets anger take him where it needs to go. its not until he is reunited with my surana (aka the important person who he lost a while before tamlen, because my surana was originally from the clan as their first and was taken to the circle by drunk templars who attacked the clan without reason) that he finally realizes he needs to take a fuckin chill pill and learn to just get OVER himself

if were talking like first warden ever first ever playthrough of da:o dont care if its canon or not then my first warden was a female human noble dual weild rogue named aya cousland. she had absolutely no set personality back then because i was literally just playing the game and i wasnt so into making characters back then. she has now become a character of mine but it took me a good long while to remember she ever existed but shes super kind and a complete angel now so i love her very much

now if were talking first warden as in the first warden i ever actually CONSIDERED a warden of mine and a character of mine then it was maeron mahariel the dalish elf dual wield rogue. hes… oh my god hes a little salty shitface. i absolutely love him but god is he a dick. hes SUCH a dick. like he knows when to tone it down and show compassion and show that he cares but hes very angry and very pissy and very very rude to pretty much everyone.

14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory

oh thats.... thats so many of them. so many. which one to pick tho...

i never introduced my boy silence properly did i? i know ive posted pictures of him but i dont think ive ever spoken about him or his backstory. i dont see myself being able to use him any time in the future, but ill try my damn best to sum up his backstory in less than three paragraphs cause im awful at being minimal in my explinations (hint from future me after writing this one specific part of this ask: i failed. i wrote many paragraphs. im so sorry. please skip to the next question if you dont want to read all about silence)

silence is not his actual name, obviously, but it is what he goes by now. he is prince of the avariel, aka the winged elves. they have been at war with dragons for as long as they can remember, as the dragons nearly made them extinct. for this reason, silence and his five younger siblings were very sheltered and not allowed outside the kingdoms borders. silence, however, was extremely adventurous and didn’t like being held back. as a teen he “rebelled” as they say and would go out of the kingdoms borders nearly daily. one day, however, he got caught by dragons. dragons recognized him as the enemy and began to advance on him, but last minute, a steel dragon, much larger than the ones advancing, landed in front of him and took a hit from one of the dragons. the dragons advancing were stunned, and eventually scared off by the larger and more powerful dragon. silence didnt know where to go or what to do, and was just stunned in place.

the dragon then turned and moved towards him, backing him up into a tree. it got very close to him, but didnt show any hostility. silence reached out a hand carefully and placed it on the dragons nose and it shut its eyes and hummed in approval. silence then draped himself over the dragons nose in a hug and told it thank you. the dragon then spoke to him, in common, and said your welcome, which scared the shit out of silence who stood up and backed up against the tree again. the dragon gave him space and flopped over, kinda like a dog, and just stared at him to see what would happen next. silence broke the silence that fell between them (lmao) and they talked about why one hadnt attacked the other, and fell into another silence, which the dragon broke to introduce himself as skathas, and silence gave skathas his name as well. after complimenting silence’s name, skathas stood and was surrounded by light, taking a different form - that of a human man with dragon-like features. sharp teeth, large horns, big dragon wings, and a bit of scaling along his arms and such (my only picture of skathas is terrible quality so i will not show but trust me hes pretty)

silence is very gay, and saw his human form and just got very flustered. skathas asked if this form was more comfortable for him to be around, to which silence said yes, even though the dragon hadnt made him uncomfortable at all. the thing that really made them click as friend was silence saying hed secretly tried to learn some draconic but wasnt very good at it and skathas speaking some draconic and asking if silence understood any, and getting a response that he got some. he tried to repeat it back to skathas and skathas just lost his shit laughing at how bad silence was at it, and silence laughed with him cause he knew he was bad at it, and they spent some time working on that before they continued talking into the night, getting to know one another better before skathas knew silence should go back to the kingdom and made him promise to return the next day so he could see him again. silence agreed, and they did meet again. and again, and again, and again, every single night they met in that same place.

they taught each other much, and eventually in their time together they fell in love. when they realized they were in love, it created some sort of connection between their souls. they gained the ability to communicate telepathically with one another, and they were also very much in tune with each other emotionally and mentally, more so than before that is (this goes with silence’s class - dragon knight. skathas is his dragon, and they fight together and never separate). when speaking to each other telepathically, however, skathas’s eyes change to resemble skathas’s, aka his eyes morph to purple dragon eyes. for this reason, silence was the one to initiate conversation between them telepathically when they were apart so that no one would know he had contact with a dragon or suspect anything.

this, however, did not last, and is why his backstory is tragic. his second youngest sister, vellista, got suspicious of where he went every night and decided to take it upon herself to find out. she caught him with skathas and returned home to tell her family about it. they didnt believe her at first, but she insisted it was true. when silence returned, they questioned him, but he dodged their questions. vellista, insistent on getting them to believe her, watched her  oldest brother very closely. when he thought he was alone, silence contacted skathas telepathically to warn him about his sister and what she knew, and vellista managed to see, just for two seconds, silence’s eyes glow purple as they changed to dragon eyes and he shut his bedroom door behind him. she then convinced some guards to follow her to skathas and silence’s meeting place the next day to prove this to everyone and our her brother as a traitor.

they successfully caught silence meeting with skathas, and lashed out to attack skathas and sieze silence whether it be violently or not. skathas, at first, tried to protect silence, but took many bad hits in the process since he refused to fight back against the avariel. silence forced him to go, for his safety, and with incredible reluctance he did leave, but only after silence screamed it out loud in draconic in the most panicked, in pain voice skathas had ever heard in his life. this left silence to be apprehended and dragged back to the kingdom and set in front of his father by his own sister, who he had loved and trusted. 

he didnt deny what had happened, or what he was doing. but he refused to mention what skathas looked like, or his name, or what relationship they had. he truthfully claimed he was not giving him battle plans, or money, or tips on how to beat them in the war, or anything like that. he only claimed they met for conversation, which was again true. vellista however kept taking it farther and falsely claiming he had no other reason to talk to skathas other than that, and even mentioned that his eyes went purple and dragony for some reason and that must mean there was some sort of communication or corruption and, again, what other reason would he have for that other than being a traitor?

when silence wouldnt admit to these things, because they were untrue and he was telling the truth and not siding with lies, his father had him tortured by the guards. his entire family was there to watch as every time he said what his father and sister didnt want to hear, he was hit, cut, kicked, or beaten. they refused to take his word for it. silence had trusted his family, and now they wouldnt believe him no matter what he said or how much proof he gave. his brother scias and sister alyhera had to be held back by guards as he was beat, as they tried to defend him and believed him but his father wouldnt allow their interference. 

eventually, his father shifted focus to trying to get silence to communicate with skathas, to make his eyes change. silence wouldnt do it at first, fearing for skathass safety and not knowing what skathas would do if he knew he was only talking to him to show this to his father. but when it seemed silence getting hurt was no longer effective, the king forced scias and alyhera forward, knowing they were closest to silence, and threatened to have them hit instead if he wouldnt talk. as soon as even one guard turned away from him and towards his younger siblings, silence screamed at them to stop and immediately communicated with skathas, letting his eyes change openly in front of everyone and only telling skathas a soft and quick “im sorry” before shutting him out. this scared everyone into silence, and after a moments hesitation, his father ordered silence’s eyes to be mutilated so they would no longer work. scias and alyhera once again protested and screamed as the guards, though hesitant, listened to their orders and cut all around his eyes and over them, as they thought that would be enough to sever the connection. when vellista mentioned hearing silence speak draconic to skathas, the king didnt even hesitate to believe her, and ordered his mouth to be sewn shut so he couldnt speak to the dragons out loud either. as this much pain was inflicted on silence minutes in a row, a loud dragons cry was heard from the distance, and it only cemented the situation further in everyones minds. guilt weighed on silence’s shoulders as he heard what he knew was a yell of panic, fear, and guilt from skathas, who would more than likely come to look for him.

kneeling in a pool of his own blood, shaking with pain and breathing rough, he listened through ringing ears as his father declared him traitor and banished him, saying that silence was no longer his son, but he still hadnt the heart to kill him as this whole ordeal had been painful enough to execute as it was. So the guards grabbed him and threw him out of the palace, leaving him blinded, bleeding out, and weak on the steps of the palace. scias and alyhera were not stopped anymore as they ran for their brother. scias bandaged him while alyhera worked to heal his eyes best she could, working on wounds scias hadnt gotten to after she got his eyes to stop bleeding. she did, however, leave him blind and wrapped a bandage around his eyes just to be sure. she didnt believe he was a traitor, or that he had been giving plans or such to the dragons, but she did feel some of the punishment had to stay. they knew it was all they could do for him, and while they tried to convince him to stay near the kingdom, silence felt as though he had failed everyone in his foolishness and his lovestruck haze. he felt he was a disappointment of a prince, and a terrible avariel who deserved this punishment for thinking he could get away with hiding this forever, and for letting his ambition, adventurous nature, and friendship with skathas get so far. he didnt, however, hold this against skathas or any of the dragons he had come to know in his time knowing skathas. it wasnt their fault, only his. 

silence left, just flying in the direction that felt right even though he was weak, tired, and sore. unable to keep skathas away anymore, he let down the barrier he put up so that skathas could talk to him, and made skathas come get him and lead him to their normal spot. skathas, guilt ridden and absolutely lost in a panic attack, could only hold him close and apologize for hours. nothing that came out of his mouth was anything else, and to be fair, silence could only do the same. they cried together, held each other as tightly as they could, apologized to each other over and over for everything that had happened that night. eventually, they managed to stop apologizing and try to figure out what to do, and skathas tried to get skathas to let him remove the stitches on his lips and the bandage from his eyes. silence, however, refused and said it was his punishment and he deserved it. skathas disagreed, but allowed him to keep them. from then on silence asked to be called silence so he didnt have the name of his past haunting him and skathas said that was fine, but silence said that it was alright for silence to call him by his real name, since it didnt seem so terrible coming from him. from there, the two took leave away from the avariel kingdom and went adventuring together all around the world, just trying to find a new place to call home and settle. they have yet to find that place, but theyre still trying their best to find it.

oh shit thats a hard one but like... probably donovan??? cause 1 hes gorgeous and id love to see what hed look like in real life, and 2 cause like... he needs friends??? and i need friends??? hed never admit it, but he doesnt have a lot of friends and hes seriously lacking emotional support. i also dont have a lot of friends and lack emotional support. donovan is also the kind of friend i sorely wish i had - hes accepting, makes sarcastic jokes, is a Fellow Gay, and hes EXTREMELY touchy feely in the platonic way. like... platonic hand holding, platonic kisses, platonic cuddles, platonic hugs, all that good good stuff. were probably into the same things, and we can both support each other. idk man i just wanna give donovan more friends and i would cry to have a friend in person who would actually do all the cute platonic shit with me because im touch starved and crave it

aaaa i dont know if ive ever truly talked about bandon on tumblr!!!! i love him so much hes my sweet boy who i love and appreciate!!

ok so ten facts (im on mobile idk if i can actually readmore well see what happens tho

also as i was writing this is turned into a bit of a backstory telling as well so!!! i hope thats aight cause i just love this boy

1. bandon surana was actually based on the character bandon from the show “the shanara chronicles” which is something i watch with my dad when were both free and have the time (which isnt often so i havent gotten very far in, but we both love that good good fantasy shit so)!! because bandon is a seer in the show, the closest i could get to such a thing was a dreamer. i would have LOVED if bioware had something closer to bandons powers in the show, but the dreamer is close enough plus its a super fun thing to work with within my limits

2. bandon was originally the first of clan sabrae, and was best friends with maeron mahariel, tamlen, and merrill! at the age of 11 he was stolen from his clan by drunken templars and taken to the circle against his will, causing him to be replaced within the clan by merrill as first

3. bandon never spoke a single word in common to anyone but jowan, lily, and aedan amell. he never let the templars forget that he was dalish and he was not a mage they could control or water down into their pretty little lapdog. he constantly and openly studied all the dalish lore and magic he could possibly get his hands on in the circle library, and you can still find those books within the circle, absolutely covered in his scribbles and writing as he corrected what was written, added to it, or simply emphasized important things. most of this was done out of his love of the dalish and the need for people to know who they really are, but it was also, partially, to make templars uncomfortable

4. bandon was regularly placed in short solitary sentences, no more than two weeks long usually, although the longest he was ever in there was a month and a half (which was the first time he was put in there). this is because he is a dreamer, and the circle didnt understand it, as well as the fact that other mages were disturbed by his reactions to the visions they didnt know he was being shown. he would wake up screaming and shouting and crying and talking about what the spirits of dead mages showed him happened here in the past, what happened to them. it horrified him, and he didnt really understand how he was seeing these things. when they put him in solitary, those who had died there, however they did, would show him their experiences, which made him even more afraid. solitary was more tame, and even though he still saw things he wishes he never had, he taught himself to keep quite when in full on panic mode even if it meant choking because if he screamed, cried, or yelled, his solitary sentence was longer, and being locked up in there was scarier to him than seeing the shit templars did to the spirits who contacted him

5. bandon never went through the harrowing. aedan amell, however, did, and instead of JUST jowan and lily proposing escape, bandon was on their side as well. he practically fuckin begged aedan to help them because to be free, feel the wind in his hair and grass beneath his feet and have a freshly made campfire crackling beneath the stars was the most beautiful thought hed ever had in so long and he couldnt give up on it. hed wanted to escape so badly ever since he arrived but never thought it possible until jowan told him about lily and how they wanted to leave and what their plan was. so when he realized his only other friend within the circle could help them, he became desperate and was literally clinging to aedans shoulders and crying and begging because he cant deal with the visions and the hurt and the fear and EVERYTHING anymore and he needed to see the sun, he needed to see a forest again, he needed to see the lake reflect the night on its surface and he needed to climb a tree and he needed to see anything but an endless stone cage that was the circle. aedan had hugged him really tightly and agreed to help then, and bandons phylactery was shattered alongside jowans. after everything with lily, the two escaped together and parted ways before jowan encountered loghains people

6. bandon was part of the clan in the brecilian forest for a short time. he got his vallaslin from that clan - the branches of mythal in white because i actually made him in inquisition first and that was his vallaslin - and he actually became kind of close to zathrian. zathrian would tell him that he reminded him of his son, and he eventually declared bandon his second and began teaching him alongside lanaya (who later developed feelings for him that he rejected, saying that someone else, surprisingly enough, “still held his heart in their stupid, stubborn, unknowing hands”)

7. when the werewolves happened within that clan, bandon became extremely inquisitive and curious. zathrian was very evasive, so bandon attempted to find out what happened there and to get help because they clearly couldnt deal with this alone. he ran into duncan on his way, and volunteered to assist him in navigating the woods and such until they could part ways, to which duncan accepted with interest. after fighting alongside each other and traveling for a week or two, duncan quickly became impressed with him and asked him to join the wardens. he accepted graciously, as he knows its quite an honor, and was part of alistairs joining.

8. bandon was sent alongside alistair, jory, daveth, and maeron mahariel because he knew the old magic the keeper used on maeron to heal him, and duncan wanted to make sure he would survive to the joining since they had spent quite a while getting back to ostagar from clan sabrae. maeron was already not looking to hot on their way out to the wilds, so bandon was kept close (which didnt bother either of them at all, since theyd had the happiest, most tear-filled reunion ever because they were super close before bandon was taken by the templars)

9. bandon actually totally crushed the fade sequence in the circle quest. being a dreamer, he can manipulate the fade. he saw right through the demons bullshit, punched it in the fuckin face, and waltzed with into everyone elses dreamscapes and snapped them out of it. he easily found the demons locations and beat the shit out of them, then lead the final charge on sloth with more aggression and vigor anyone had ever seen him with. he was already pissed off from having to be back in the circle, and now this fuckin demon had gotten the better of him and he just wasnt having it. needless to say, anyone in the party who had ever had any doubt about him didnt have any anymore, and everyone at the very least respected him for what he did and how well he did it. (he did this same thing at redcliffe castle - he was really hesitant to attempt it because he wasnt sure if it was something he could do, but i predict that a dreamer strong enough and fueled with enough magic could open a literal portal to the fade with their bare hands. with help from jowan, wynne, aedan (who joined them during the circle quest when he was found by bandon trying to survive the demons somewhere in the circle), and morrigan, he legit opened the fade right in the throne room and stepped in, beat the shit out of yet another demon, then stepped back out. this however, resulted in him stumbling out, looking at maeron and zevran (aka his boYFRIENDS) and just collapsing into their arms. he was out cold for nearly a week, and he had the fuckin worst cold ever for close to 3 weeks after that because of how much strain it had put on him)

10. to make matters worse in terms of bandon being hunted by demons cause of how powerful he is, hes also a spirit healer!!! i didnt…. realize how op he seemed until AFTER i made him, but its too badass not to keep. plus, he really is the spirit healer type of dude. hes a fuckin legend (side note cause yes: hes… also an arcane warrior. you cannot stop this kid he will shred you to pieces)

tbh what that made me think of was zevran leaving and meeting up with the wardens (yes 2 wardens in my canon i have 2 wardens and they end up in a poly relationship with zevran and its healthy and happy and good) and just being like “there is shit happening in kirkwall i want to help them i met the champion he saved me from the crows we should help him” and both his boyfriends just kinda lookin at each other and going “creators save us ok lets go”

and right before hawke goes up to orsino and is all “alright im ready” they just hear “champion” and when they look baM theres the hero of ferelden (bandon) plus his boyfriends and maeron would be speaking cause hes definitely more outspoken and hes just like “my lovely antivan boyfriend here said you saved his ass so were here to return the favor. we stand with you and well take orders as needed, but dont let it get to your head that the hero of ferelden came here to help you”

and the thought just makes me so happy cause that gives merrill a reunion with mahariel (and in my case surana as well cause she knew bandon too) and i love my wardens being able to meet hawke and hawke meeting my two wardens and just kjnfdkjnks
