Recording McCartney II
In 1979, I had the chance to meet Paul McCartney in his „Spirit Of Ranachan Studio“ in Campbeltown, Scotland, where he was working on his album „McCartney II“. He was very welcoming – he answered all my questions, played me some new demo tracks, showed me his instrument collection and told me how to operate a 16-track recording machine. I was very punk-influenced in those days and we had a little session in which I played his Mellotron with some prerecorded taped voice loops: „Hi George, morning Terry“, he used for the track „Check My Machine“.

The Oscars Hate Animation
First I want to say that I don't hold any animosity towards the films that were nominated for best picture. I haven't seen them all but they all seem pretty damn great (Maestro feels oscar-baity to me but whatever).
What I don't like is how animation is put into its own box. They can't ignore it completely, but they can push all animated works into the animated film category and make sure that none of them can possibly take the main awards. Animation is treated as something for children, or hyper-violent fare for edgy teens.
You couldn't imagine this happening to painters. Vincent Van Gogh was never told that he made nice things for children to look at. Picasso was never told that he could be making "real" art if he switched to photography. A single image is art, but millions in a row to give the illusion of motion is somehow less than art.
It's just all so stupid. Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse is a beautiful movie with such fluid animation, expressive characters and just flush with color. The movie isn't happy with just having a single great art style, instead incorporating new art styles and movements as it switches between universes. It's incredible, and it's given the same amount of recognition as Wish simply because they both happen to be animated. The voice actors were not nominated for their work, neither were the producers, sound designers, editors or even the director. The only recognition it can get is "best movie of this selection that we don't really care about but feel compelled to mention".
If you've never really watched an animated film that you thought was really mature and thoughtful, I've got the just the list for you. Personally I recommend Akira, Perfect Blue, Redline, Angel's Egg, Isle of Dogs and Mad God but most of the movies on that list are pretty great.

Whispering this quietly to Russel T Davies as I watch the newest doctor who episodes
some silly theories below the cut btw
Anyway to I think that ruby Sunday is for sure related to or part of the pantheon and that the dance numbers, weird shit that doesn’t make sense (snow, abbey road playing musical notes, all those people in the dance number just playing along, timeline changing so her mother points at the doctor) is her reaction to what she subconsciously believes should happen next. She isn’t aware of this tho. She might have a relation to “The One Who Waits” but idk that might be the doctors granddaughter for all we know (she has been waiting for a pretty long time as far as I’m aware tbh). Also this might explain why her and the doc keep running into (or rather will keep running into) pantheon members.
kinda thought she might be a time lord at first but idk all signs point towards pantheon..
also tbh the first ep was kinda mid and the second ep far outranks it. I mean I do love a good monster design but the whole ass shaped spaceship propelled by methane felt a bit.. mid.
also also i FUCKING LOVE THE MAESTRO OMG BRING THEM BACK PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I NEED TO KNOW THEYRE OK PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Evelyn Scotney (soprano) - Pray you listen - Mad Scene ('Hamlet' - Thomas) (1925)
Evelyn Scotney sings the 'Hamlet' Mad Scene, recorded at Hayes on 20 January 1925, with orchestra conducted by Eugene Goossens.
Evelyn Scotney (Soprano) (Ballarat / Australia 11. 7. 1886, † Londra 7. 8. 1967).
Her voice was discovered in 1910, by the famous prima donna Nellie Melba, during her Australian tours. First she received her education at the conservatoire of Melbourne under Elise Wiedermann, then studied singing in Paris with Mathilde Marchesi de Castrone. She made her debut in 1912 at the Boston Opera as Lucia di Lammermoor. She married to the Boston tenor Howard White and undertook with him a concert tours in North America and Australia. After her successful appearances in Boston, in the 1919-1921 seasons she was engaged by the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where she made her debut as  Eudoxia in Halévys ‘’La Juive’’. At the Metropolitan Opera her parts included Lucia di Lammermoor, the queen of Shemakan in ‘’The Golden Cock’’, Norina in ‘’Don Pasquale’’ (This part she sang as a partner of Enrico Caruso). She gave a recitals through the USA, Canada and Australia and had a huge success in England. Here, about 1935, she had a significant career as a concert soprano, and sang only seldom on the stage. She was also a gifted pianist and developed a substantial talent as a painter. She trained in the classical manner of the Marchesi school.
