@0047silver's funny y2k guys and which pokémon they would be
realizing i forgot most of the robot's serial numbers, i decided to use codenames for everyone. have fun guessing who is who (i think it's obvious)
Izutsumi the Original - Espurr, the Restraint Pokémon (Psychic) X: The organ that emits its intense psychic power is sheltered by its ears to keep power from leaking out. Y: It has enough psychic energy to blast everything within 300 feet of itself, but it has no control over its power.
Invader Zin - I'm not sure, actually. Dewott, the Discipline Pokémon? (Water) Black: Strict training is how it learns its flowing double-scalchop technique. White: Scalchop techniques differ from one Dewott to another. It never neglects maintaining its scalchops. B2W2: As a result of strict training, each Dewott learns different forms for using the scalchops.
Bob the Builder - Gurdurr, the Muscular Pokémon (Fighting) Black: This Pokémon is so muscular and strongly built that even a group of wrestlers could not make it budge an inch. White: They strengthen their bodies by carrying steel beams. They show off their big muscles to their friends. B2W2: With strengthened bodies, they skillfully wield steel beams to take down buildings.
Hetero Jessica - Nihilego, the Parasite Pokémon (Rock / Poison) Sun: One of several mysterious Ultra Beasts. People on the street report observing those infested by it suddenly becoming violent. Moon: One of the Ultra Beasts. It's unclear whether or not this Pokémon is sentient, but sometimes it can be observed behaving like a young girl. Ultra Sun: A life-form from another world, it was dubbed a UB and is thought to produce a strong neurotoxin. Ultra Moon: It appeared in this world from an Ultra Wormhole. Nihilego appears to be a parasite that lives by feeding on people and Pokémon.
Average Malice Mizer Fan - Ampharos, the Light Pokémon or Luxray, the Gleam Eyes Pokémon (both Electric) Ampharos Gold: The tail's tip shines brightly and can be seen from far away. It acts as a beacon for lost people. Silver: The bright light on its tail can be seen far away. It has been treasured since ancient times as a beacon. Crystal: When it gets dark, the light from its bright, shiny tail can be seen from far away on the ocean's surface.
Luxray Diamond: It has eyes that can see through anything. It spots and captures prey hiding behind objects. Pearl: When its eyes gleam gold, it can spot hiding prey-- even those taking shelter behind a wall. Platinum: It can see clearly through walls to track down its prey and seek its lost young. HGSS: Luxray's ability to see through objects comes in handy when it's scouting for danger.
Spamton S. Spamton (The S stands for S-hole) - He's a Team Rocket Grunt, actually. They will do anything for money. According to them, all Pokémon in the world are theirs to use as they please, always for a profit.
Atheist Mantis - Lurantis, the Bloom Sickle Pokémon (Grass) Sun: It requires a lot of effort to maintain Lurantis's vivid coloring, but some collectors enjoy this work and treat it as their hobby. Moon: It fires beams from its sickle-shaped petals. These beams are powerful enough to cleave through thick metal plates. Ultra Sun: For self-protection, it pretends to be a bug Pokémon. Both of its arms bear keen-edged petals. Ultra Moon: As it slashes into its enemies, it looks like it's dancing. Its elegant appearance has led some to call it the most glamorous Grass Pokémon.
It's Short for Cakes - Scizor, the Pincer / Scissors Pokémon (Bug / Steel) Gold: It swings its eye-patterned pincers up to scare its foes. This makes it look like it has three heads. Silver: Its wings are not used for flying. They are flapped at high speed to adjust its body temperature. Crystal: This Pokémon's pincers, which contain steel, can crush any hard object it gets a hold of into bits.
Chao Tribute AMV Break Stuff - Poipole, the Poison Pin Pokémon (Poison) or Rotom, the Plasma Pokémon (Electric) Poipole Ultra Sun: This Ultra Beast is well enough liked to be chosen as a first partner in its own world. Ultra Moon: An Ultra Beast that lives in a different world, it cackles wildly as it sprays its opponents with poison from the needles on its head.
Rotom D&P: Its body is composed of plasma. It is known to infiltrate electronic devices and wreak havoc. Platinum: Its electric-like body can enter some kinds of machines and take control in order to make mischief. HGSS: Research continues on this Pokémon, which could be the power source of a unique motor.

Remember? -A Pokémon Story-
Chapter 6: The Hike
You carefully make your way down the front steps as you hear the door shut behind you. Cato is following close by, and when you look over at him, he gives you a painfully disapproving glance. You roll your eyes and turn your head away, taking in your surroundings. You head down towards the water, and to your right you see a path leading somewhere. You don't care where it goes, you just want to get out of here.
After following the path for a bit, you walk up to a sign.
"'Ten Carat Hill,'" you read aloud, curiously. "Sounds good to me," you state, looking at Cato. As you move to keep walking, he suddenly jumps in front of you, cutting you off. You give him a glare and try to go around him, but he's persistent in trying to keep you from going any further.
"Cato, move please," you say, slightly irritated. He growls and gestures up to the sky, and you follow his gaze. The sky is peppered with gray clouds that cover the afternoon sun.
"There's not going to be a storm. If anything, it'll just rain. I'm not going to be gone for a long time," you snap back. Cato refuses to move, though, and you're starting to get angry. You reach behind and grab a pocket on your backpack, pulling out a single Pokeball.
"Cato, don't make me use this, because I will," you demand as you hold it out, threatening to return him to his Pokeball. Cato glares at you, and then at your hand. You stare him down, until he finally moves to let you pass.
You shove the Pokeball back in your bag and walk past Cato, who looks beyond frustrated. Your anger and adrenaline drown out any aches in your muscles you should be having right now. This is the hardest you've pushed your legs so far. Walking down the path, you look at the few Pokémon who poked their heads out of the rocks and grass to see who is disturbing their home. You notice there isn't anyone else around, and you're thankful for that.
Cato follows at a safe distance, irritated at your actions. You continue to march forward, lost in your thoughts, and ignoring everything around you.
After a bit of trudging up dirt paths and walking through tall grass, you find another little path that splits off on its own. You pause for a moment. You don't know how long you've been walking. You look up to the sky and don't see the sun. It must be low enough that the mountain is blocking you from seeing it.
You look behind you and debate if you should turn around and head back to the Professor's house, but thinking about going back only to just be stuck in bed doing nothing makes you groan. You look back to the little path and decide to follow it. You're starting to feel the aches in your legs, but you ignore them and keep moving. Cato sighs and follows you, staying close enough that if you need to lean on him you could.
After all, you did throw your crutches down at the house.
The little path is a pretty small. It would be difficult for a full grown adult to get through here, but your small form fits through just fine. You can tell that this path doesn't get a lot of visitors. When you finally make it to the end of this little path, you're met with a hole in the side of Ten Carat Hill. You go into the hole and through a tunnel, which leads to a little cliff. The cliff has a few small trees growing on it with a few patches of grass, and at the edge, there's a beautiful view of the ocean.
You walk over to the edge and take in the view. You look down and suddenly notice how high up you are. You didn't realize you had been walking long enough to get this high on the mountain. You feel a little dizzy looking down at the crashing waves below you, so you take a few steps back. You plop down and sit back against a tree, setting your backpack beside you. You look up and finally see the sun, noticing how low it is.
'Must be evening already. How long have I been walking?' you think to yourself. You start to feel the ache in your legs and you sigh heavily. Cato walks over to the other tree and lays down beneath it.
You reach over to your backpack and pull out the book on Mega Evolution. You flip back to the pages with your handwriting in them and look at the notes closely. You seemed to really know a lot about Mega Evolution. More than the average person, at least.
As you flip through the chapters, you skim over the text, trying to re-familiarize yourself with the contents. You turn page after page of studies and hypotheses on Mega Evolution. You know there's something about this book that can help you. You just know it. Every time you read it, you feel something in the back of your mind. When you try and grab onto that feeling, it goes away and leaves you with a bad headache.
You can hear Cato's soft snores, and you look over at him. You feel kinda bad for snapping at him, but he was trying to get you to go back, and you needed to get away.
You turn back to your book and continue your efforts in finding something that can help you two. After skimming notes and pages for what feels like hours, you start reading something about how there are only a select few Pokémon that can Mega Evolve. You look over at your thoughts you scribbled down in the margins and your heart feels like it stops.
You read it over and over again, making sure you're reading it correctly.
'Idiots. Just because only a few Pokémon have been proven to be able to Mega Evolve doesn't mean others will never be able to. Dad says he's close to proving more Pokémon are capable of Mega Evolution. That'll show them.’
You feel as if the air has been knocked out of you. It isn't a whole lot to go off of, but it's way more than you had before.
"Cato!" you yell as you turn to your partner. His head whips around in alarm, thinking something's wrong. "Dad!" you say as you hold up the book. "It says 'Dad'!"
You read the note out loud for Cato as he walks over to you. You throw your arms around your Luxray's neck and hug him like there's no tomorrow.
"This proves it," you say to him, "our family knows a lot about Mega Evolution. They have to be scientists or something. I knew this book would help us!"
Your celebration is cut short when a huge bolt of lightning cuts across the sky and lets out a deafening crack. You look up and see that the little gray clouds from earlier have turned into a massive storm. You quickly shove your Mega Evolution book into your backpack and stand up, suddenly nervous. Though as soon as you stand up, your legs basically give out from under you and you fall back onto the ground. Wincing, you prop yourself up on your elbows and look over at Cato.
"I guess that hike up here really messed with me. I don't think my muscles can handle the trip down," you say, defeated.
Suddenly, the sky opens up and rain pours out onto the two of you. Cato helps you shuffle over to the tunnel that you followed to get here. You plop down against the wall, and Cato shakes his body in an attempt to dry off. You shrug your backpack off and rub your eyes, leaning your head against the rocky wall.
"It's gonna be a long night," you sigh.

Looking through things related to AspenFrostEN is... wow...
Misinfo, unnecessary aggressivity, payed userboxes using stolen art and racism..
If you're not bodily part of a closed culture, dont use names from it. Obviously, dont force separation but work on getting them a name close enough or similar where they still ID with it but isnt stealing. The fact they think they have a claim and hold thst matters on that as a white system astonishes me

What Pokémon Would Your Muse Have?
Main Team:
#1: Zoroark - Cedric (M)
The Illusion Fox Pokémon - Dark-Type - Despite its monstrous appearance, it’s actually a very lonely and sensitive Pokémon that cares deeply about its family and about others. Much like Rachel, there’s more to these Pokémon than what is shown at first glance.
#2: Gardevoir - Jeanne (F)
The Embrace Pokémon - Psychic/Fairy-Type - Gardevoir are Pokémon that have intense bonds with their trainers. Their psychic power is strongest when protecting their trainers. They can see the future and if their trainer is in danger, Gardevoir will give their lives to protect them. Just like how if Rachel knows there’s danger to someone, she will not hesitate to fight with all her strength and risk her life to protect them.
#3: Lycanroc (Midnight) - Edme (F)
The Wolf Pokemon - Rock-Type - This form of Lycanroc are reckless and will attack and goad opponents into attacking with no regard for their own safety. It will ignore orders it doesn’t like and doesn’t mind getting injured so long as it can finish off an opponent. It’s invigorated by stronger opponents and will only listen to a trainer who can draw out its true power. A strong, stubborn, and prideful independent spirit like Rachel who is also headstrong and will attack and defend with no regard for her own life or safety.
#4: Floatzel - Tsunami (F)
The Sea Weasel Pokémon - Water-Type - Floatzel are known to use their floatation sacs to float and they use this both to catch prey at docks and rescue people from drowning. Rachel is an aquatically adept person and has an internal instinct to help and rescue people wherever she sees that they need help.
#5: Luxray (Shiny) - Levana (F)
The Gleam Eyes Pokémon - Electric-Type - Luxray are capable of seeing through walls and objects to search for danger, prey, and even its own young. When its eyes start to glow, it’s using it electric power to see through walls. A valuable ally for someone such as Rachel who feels as though thousands of eyes are watching her at every opportunity.
#6: Haxorus - Zhaitan (M)
The Axe Jaw Pokémon - Dragon-Type - Haxorus are generally very kindhearted and gentle, but they can be terrifying and frightening when angered. They defend their territory and their families with terrifying ferocity. Like Rachel herself, loyal and kind and compassionate, but more than capable of being fierce and frightening when angered and defending the things and the people she cares about.
+: Duskull - Grimm (M) [She doesn’t fight with him but he’s always with her]
The Requiem Pokémon - Ghost-Type - Duskull are capable of passing through any wall and can turn invisible. They are nocturnal creatures and are known to doggedly pursue their targets until the break of dawn. It’s said to spirit away disobedient children and is described to enjoy the crying of children. While Rachel does not enjoy the tears of children, she has an intense maternal instinct. If she hears a child cry, she instinctively wants to protect and console that child. And if a parent mistreats their child, Rachel will not hesitate to defend that child.
Backup/Alternate Team:
#1: Absol - Cassandra (F)
The Disaster Pokémon - Dark-Type - Absol is capable of sensing natural disasters before they happen and is often seen before one occurs. This leads to it being wrongfully demonized and seen as a bad omen and as the cause for the disasters when in truth, this Pokémon tries to warn others and protect them from it. Much like Rachel, she sees disasters before they happen just from her own experiences of constantly being proven right and is often not believed or even shamed for trying to warn and explain to others.
#2: Gallade - Engarde (M)
The Blade Pokémon - Psychic/Fighting-Type - Gallade seek out Pokémon and people in need of help and will only extend their elbow blades when protecting them. They fight fiercely as noble swordsmen to protect those who cannot defend themselves. Like Rachel, they constantly search for those that need help and will fight savagely to protect others.
#3: Ampharos - Emilia (F)
The Light Pokémon - Electric-Type - Ampharos act as a beacon for those that are lost by using their glowing tails to guide sailors away from the shore in lighthouses. Some people even used Ampharos to send signals back and forth using their tail lights. While not someone who guides sailors, Rachel often acts as a beacon to guide those who are lost, such as androids who stumble into her backyard who need repairs and a place to stay until they move on.
#4: Dragapult - Missile Launcher (Missy, for short) (F)
The Stealth Pokémon - Dragon/Ghost-Type - Dragapult often hold Dreepy in the holes in their horns when it isn’t battling. However, once it does, it launches them like missiles at Mach speed. The Dreepy apparently enjoy being launched out of Dragapult’s horns. Rachel’s prosthetic arm is very important to her, but she uses it as a weapon in many forms, including a thrown weapons.
#5: Aggron - Irwell (M)
The Iron Armour Pokémon - Steel/Rock-Type - Aggron claims an entire mountain as its territory and will protect it fiercely. It mercilessly destroys anything that trespasses on its environment and diligently patrols its territory at all times. However, it’s a surprisingly sensitive Pokémon, as it will haul topsoil and the like to restore and garden its own territory. Rachel is fiercely protective of her home and is constantly patrolling her “territory” to protect it from those that trespass its boundaries.
#6: Sceptile - Briar (F)
The Forest Pokémon - Grass-Type - Sceptile is an incredibly agile Pokémon that is unparalleled in jungle combat. It has sharp leaf-like appendages and a sharp leafy tail that can cut through fully grown trees. Like Rachel, its greatest physical strength is its dexterity.
Miscellaneous:
- Riolu - Estelle (F)
- Drifloon (Shiny) - Lucky (M)
- Umbreon - Severus (M)
- Rowlet - Elric (M)
- Blitzle - Haywire (F)
- Jangmo-o - Fang (F)
- Salandit - Toffee (M)
- Alolan Vulpix - Aleu (F)
If They Had A Legendary:
- Lugia (Shiny) - Andromeda
The Diving Pokémon - Psychic/Flying-Type - It is said to be the guardian of the seas. Its wings hold the power to blow apart houses, so it spends its days beneath the sea. It sleeps to control its power because it is too strong. Rachel has a deep connection to the sea, despite her spiritual element being that of fire, and like the legendary Pokémon, she sees herself as a guardian of her home.
Tagged by: I did this, so yeah.
Tagging: If y’all got the time and patience to put in the effort for this, go right the fuck ahead.

Pearl Nuzlocke P9
Now that I have Surf, I’m headed to Canalave Town.
Current Team: Alder Lv 31, Zooble Lv 33, Click Lv 32, Gia Lv 32, Peaches Lv 30, Sonic Lv 29
I make a quick pitstop at the Fuego Ironworks now that i can surf. A nice place for training that i don’t think you come across in the story. Everything in there was around Lv33 which was great exp. And i found a TM for Flamethrower. Sonic might learn that soon. I’m currently ashamed that he won’t evolve until Lv40. Ouch.
Now to head to Canalave!
I head back to Jubilife and head West into the water. On our way, Alder leads and gains a few levels and evolves into Torterra!
I also caught a Wingull. We’re calling him Peeko. Throwback to Sapphire and Ruby lol. Once i get to town, Barry challenges me to a battle on the bridge. Dangerous choices. We’re Living On The Edge Guys.
He was a little bit of a challenge but nobody had any close calls and it was easier than i expected. I also learned that Sonic needs some work. This ponyta is the only firetype i have and we’re about to get to the steel type gym. I found the TM for flamethrower and i think it might be for him. Ember and fire spin do hardly anything even when it’s super effective.
Next stop: Iron Island!
I meet up with Riley, the guy hanging out in Iron Island training his Lucario. Well, the first fight we got into, the Lucario got wrecked by a zubat, leaving me to fight 4 whole pokemon in a double battle with just one pokemon. It was Zooble versus a machoke, zubat, graveller, and onix. At least now i can send out Alder or Peaches to just sweep the field with earthquake and surf. The first pokemon the hikers sent out set up a sandstorm and I’m lucky all of my pokemon used resisted it. Zooble avoided it thankfully. For once I’m happy with 3 ground types on my team.
Now, I’ve been using repels to keep wild pokemon away until i get to where there’s a catchable pokemon. Which isn’t for another floor. With the 3% chance, we run across a steelix. The steelix paralyzed the lucario after the other pokemon was defeated, lucario rarely moves. It’s just me vs steelix. Lucario’s next hit came out of nowhere and paralyzed the steelix too and brought it to the yellow. Now i can catch it. We’re naming her Crystal.
As i continue through the cave, the lucario has been defeated three whole times. Every pair of trainers have 5-6 pokemon. It’s been brutal. I nearly lost Alder, but Riley heals my pokemon after every battle so it’s not all bad. I make it to the end of the cave, at least end of Riley’s journey. He offers me an egg. Ik it’s going to be riolu. I don’t have space for it nor time to raise one. Sooo I’ll be back once i have a death and want a lucario.
Time to head back to town and challenge the gym! Current Team: Alder the Torterra Lv 34, Click the Luxray Lv33, Zooble the Crobat Lv 34, Sonic the ponyta Lv 36 (he still has the exp share, i want to evolve him), Gia the Golem Lv32, Peaches the Gastrodon Lv 30
I go ahead and head into the gym and beat all of the trainers inside. None are too much of any issue. There’s only 2 steel types in the game and hardly any of them have one. There’s like two steelix, no bronzor so it was no issue. I get to Byron, the leader, and Sonic takes care of his bronzor and steelix easily. Alder then challenges his Lv 39 Bastiodon. Alder makes a critical hit and finishes it with just one Earthquake. I’m So Proud of Him. :DD
After the battle, Barry shows up and drags me to the library for a meeting with the professor and Lucas. While we’re talking, an earthquake strikes and somebody outside informs us that Lake Valor exploded. Yeah. Exploded. The professor tells us to check out the three lakes and sends me right to Lake Valor. I guess that’s where i’m going now.
We walk up on a hole with a HeckTon of Magikarp flopping around near puddles and Galactic grunts calling me a hick. (Loosely translated, she said Twinleaf was a hick town and they could blow up our lake. I take offence ma’am.) Time to go kick some ass. I’m using these guys to catch Gia back up in level. It’s working out great so far. And Peaches has the exp share again because Sonic has gotten Too Strong and still hasn’t evolved.
I enter the cave in the center of the lake and Galactic leader Jupiter challenges me. He was no problem with just three pokemon. I nearly lost Click to a kadabra but he luckily hit it first with a critical hit Bite.
I then rush back home to Twinleaf and head to the lake. The professor is there fighting Galactic grunts. Lucas is putting up a fight with the leader. Two grunts stop me and attack. I beat them with Gia and Zooble working as a great team. Pairing Earthquake and a flying type is Wonderful. Another two of them attack, the same methods take them out easily. Now to catch up with Lucas who’s fighting with Mars.
She makes snide comments to me, thinking that i don’t remember her from the Wind Powerplant and thinking that I’m in a relationship with Lucas. Gross. He’s like talking to the rotomdex. Time to take her out too. Her first pokemon is a pain. It’s a Lv 37 Golbat. It nearly takes out Click after confusing him and not letting him hit. The Gia defeats it with rollout over three turns. She survives poisoning for this with low HP. Next is her Lv 37 Bronzor. It’s no problem for Sonic. Next is her deadly purugly. The one who killed my starly. Rude. I’m back for revenge.
This purugly knows hypnosis, which is a Pain. He put Sonic to sleep and then immediately after, Zooble. I might as well heal him. I avoid the next hypnosis after waking Zooble up and continue to peck it down with Fly. Three turns later, Mars is done. Turns out they’ve taken all of the lake legends and hid them away at their base. The Professor tells me to check the last lake. The one at the Northernmost peak of Sinnoh. That’s a long long long trip. Time to take to the mountain and find my way north. Oh boy.

Pokémon Black 2 Randomized Nuzlocke Run [Part 10]
Elite Four grind time.
With some time spent pushing rocks into holes, just in case I need to go places in the future.
Team:
Caspet (Gengar)
Nessy (Milotic)
Diego (Gardevoir)
Stormy (Metagross)
Vertex (Luxray)
Photon (Rayquaza)
So here we are, leveling up our team before our chaotic last stand, and that means... we’re in a new route. One more for the road.
What will it be?
It’s a Fire type!
I’m a moron!
No, Diego, no.
...
FUCK I HAD A MASTER BALL I COULD HAVE USED.
WHY DOES MY BRAIN CONSISTENTLY GO TO THE “yeah there could be a type problem but I’m sure it’ll be fine,” ARENA WHEN I’M TRYING TO CATCH THINGS. YOUR OPTIMISM IS KILLING THIS TEAM. KILLING IT.
IT’S CAUGHT ANYWAY.
I GUESS THE LITTLE MURDERER WHO’S LIKELY TO BE PART OF THE TEAM GETS A NAME.
YOU’RE DAMIAN. IN ALL CAPS.
I’m so sorry my optimism killed you, Diego.
I have a Dawn Stone now.
Maybe things would have gone better if I had it earlier.
I might be sorrier I have to grind something else. But I’m mostly just sorry.
-sigh-
Rest well, friend.
Now then.
Hey there. You’re Serious and often doze off.
I guess I’ll train you now.
We’ll be back when the demon child is up to 60!
Or when I’m in his patch of grass again and cool, Sunflora and Manaphy. Mareep is in more common grass. As is Rhyhorn and Manectric. Ninjask in the water. Look, the wild one live longer. Braviary is occasionally here too, with Marill in the deep spots.
Heeeeey, DAMIAN made it to 60 without dying! Also without anyone else dying! Nifty! We’re throwing Caspet back in front, handing the Exp. Share to Photon for now, and just going to go through this Victory Road.
What I assume to be Victory Road. This part of the game blends together for me even worse than the rest.
...Well, now I’m on it, so no matter!
Wait. We had a planned thing?
N, this is why there’s so much fanfic written about you. Thank you, friend. Even if it’s only because I remind you of your boyfriend from the last cartridge set.
What do I teach it to, though? It’s a physical Water attack. A very good one, but I don’t think any of my physical attackers can learn it. I might have to take something out of a box for it... In that case, I might as well also get something that can learn Cut. There are trees about.
Photon and Nessy are the only ones that can learn Waterfall. I don’t think I want it for either of them. To the nearest box!
I don’t know if this is a way to a box, but this is really, really cool and I dig it.
Okay, do I have anything that can learn both Cut and Waterfall? Mayhaps? Or Fly?
No, this isn’t going to be that straightforward. Nessy and Caspet are in the box since they need exp least. Replacing them temporarily are Amuro the Charmander (Cut), and Winn the Whiscash (Waterfall and Surf).
Photon’s in the first slot, Exp. Share moves to Vertex for now.
There’s this maze of Cuttable trees and trainers out before Victory Road proper. I don’t really understand what this gen likes so much about random maze areas, but I think most Pokemon games are into that on some level. It’s just annoying right now because Sun and Moon spoiled me. HMs are obnoxious.
On a related note, Winn now knows Strength.
There are also now Kabutops everywhere.
Having gone through the maze, I’m going down Victory Road with Nessy back in the party and Amuro back in the box. Thanks for your service, bud. Where we’re going, we don’t need Cut. ...I hope.
This gen’s needless drama makes me happy.
And the first pokemon of Victory Road is...!
Hi there. You’re gen appropriate. What are you doing here.
Quick Ball for a quick catch, and your name’s Kansas now. Get in the box.
Other possibilities that can no longer be counted as such are Lickilicky, Psyduck, more Psyduck, Aggron, Spheal, Smeargle, Dragonite, Dewott, Starly, Zweilous, Trapinch, Marill, Swellow, Mismagius, Weavile, Genesect... there were a lot.
Throwing the Exp. Share at DAMIAN for the now.
We’re secretly the same person.
The number of trainers on Victory Road who have history with Team Plasma one way or another is really satisfying. In this sequel game, the events of the game preceding it had an impact on NPCs. Delightful.
Also, I repeat my desire for NPCs to not be allowed to have things that have Sturdy. I hate Sturdy. It makes me sad. So do caves that need Flash to see in. Instead of teaching anything Flash, I’m going to stumble around in the dark. The dark that says this is probably an optional section.
I made my way to an outside!
Hmmm.
Russell?
Russell!
Fuck. Rival fights just when I’m really wanting to see a Pokemon Center are not my favorite thing. They are even less of my favorite thing when I have a slot taken up by an HM slave.
!!!
Hey, this is the rival fight that starts with an Unfezant in this corridor!
It’s level 55, and Russell only has four pokemon, so this should be relatively okay. Bouffalant comes out as a result of Unfezant’s U-turn. Nessy deals with it, but is in the orange. Simisage is next, go DAMIAN. Samurott following, go Vertex. Samurott is level 57. Stormy goes in to finish the Unfezant since Stormy has a Quick Attack replacement.
And that’s the fight! Yay!
Pokemon Center?
Fine, I can take the Thunderbolt TM I guess.
Geez, what happened in the past two years, huh?
Oki doki, I’m going to go back through Victory Road and check out all the things I didn’t want to before finding the health point on the way out. When I’m done with that, I’ll look at the resting levels and decide what I think.
Stormy with the Exp. Share for the moment.
The heck.
Am I going to want to give something Flash?
Randomizer is fun.
Now then. What are you gonna do?
Nothing. Well great.
That kind of leaves with one thing to do, doesn’t it.
Yeah.
Soooo.
I think based on the levels I’ve been up against to get here, continuing to grind kind of defeats the spirit of the Nuzlocke. I also don’t have Fly, so I’m going to stick with what I have available here to construct team improvements.
To the TM page.
Nessy’s going to forget Twister for Ice Beam.
Photon’s going to... actually no.
DAMIAN’s ditching Crunch for Toxic just so someone knows it.
And that’s it for TMs that I could change up their movesets with.
Leftovers for Nessy, Magnet for Vertex, Wide Lens for Stormy, Charcoal for DAMIAN, Spell Tag for Caspet, and Razor Claw for Photon.
Going to spend most of my money on recovery items, and then. In we’ll go.
After giving Caspet all of my remaining Rare Candy. Caspet it level 69. Nice.
I think Fighting dude is to the far right. He’s been a problem in the past, so I’m going to go ahead and try to get that out of the way. Stormy up front because while Photon might have Air Slash and STAB, all these things are likely to have Stone Edge. The worst of everything. Next to Sturdy.
Yeehaw.
...Huh.
Well then.
So Marshal’s first pokemon is a level 56 Throh. At the risk of feeling very embarrassed in a few moments, I think I might be slightly overleveled for this. Uh. Stormy, use Zen Headbutt?
Bye Throh?
Mienshao is up next, and for that one I think I want to switch into Photon. Or do I. See, I can’t remember if Bug is super effective against Stormy or not. Steel clears up a lot of the Pyschic weaknesses, but I am not allowed to look things up, and gaaah.
Stormy can survive one hit of anything, probably. In Stormy stays.
One Zen Headbutt later, Stormy is also staying in to fight Conkeldurr. It’s level 58. It uses Bulk Up (yes, it lived. its berry even brought it back to orange!). Stormy uses Zen Headbutt. Conkeldurr is no more.
Next and last is Sawk. Let me guess. This is still the Sturdy version. It is. It uses Payback, which does a pathetic amount of damage. Stormy uses Bullet Punch to simplify the future, and Marshal Full Restores Sawk. Stormy uses Zen Headbutt.
Yay, I won.
...This is sincerely awkward. I thought they’d be in their 60s. And maybe they are for the second round, but I’ve spent so many hours in this gen that my plan is to call it after beating the Elite Four. So uh. This is my final battle.
To the Psychic room?
I like how two years later, the Elite Four has agreed to stairs instead of moving spiral stairs.
Caspet is up in front.
Caitlin sends out a level 56 Musharna. Caspet uses Shadow Ball. Musharna faints. Caitlin sends in a level 56 Reuniclus. Caspet uses Shadow Ball. Reuniclus faints. Caitlin sends in Sigilyph. Caspet uses Shadow Ball. Sigilyph faints. Caitlin sends in a level 58 Gothitelle. Caspet uses Shadow Ball.
And that’s Caitlin.
Ghost girl next because I already have Caspet up front.
Shauntal sends out a level 56 Cofagrigus. Caspet uses Shadow Ball. She’s about to send out a Golurk, and to keep from being too arrogant, I switch to Nessy. Nessy uses Surf. Bye Golurk. She sends out a Drifblim, I go back to Caspet. Caspet uses Shadow Ball. Nessy gets sent back in against a level 58 Chandelure. Nessy uses Surf.
Nessy’s level 67 now.
Three down.
Stormy, you can sit in front for this next one.
Grimsley sends out his level 56 Liepard. It uses Fake Out. Then it uses Night Slash. Stormy is at 156 HP out of 192. Stormy uses Hammer Arm. Liepard faints. Nessy comes out to handle the Krookodile. It uses Earthquake. Nessy uses Surf. One is left standing.
Scrafty is next.
I don’t have anything I’m super comfortable having out against it, so I think I’m going to go for an odder pick and have Vertex fight it. If nothing else, yay Intimidate.
Vertex uses Spark. Scrafty uses Rock Tomb. Vertex’s Speed is lowered, but Scrafty’s down to half health. Vertex uses Spark. Ugh, a sliver of health left. Scrafty uses Rock Tomb again and Speed is lowered again. Grimsely is going to use a Full Restore, so I’m going to use Charge.
Scrafty uses Crunch.
A moment of fear for Vertex. Yike.
Charged Spark takes out Scrafty, though.
Grimsley’s final pokemon is Bisharp. DAMIAN, this is your time.
DAMIAN uses Flamethrower. Bisharp faints.
4/4.
Yay.
The question now becomes what I want in front. If memory serves, Iris is now the Champion. I don’t know if her Dragon theme is changed up at all. I do know that her levels will be a bit higher than what these four fights have entailed.
I think I’ll put Caspet up front. She’s faster than anything, and does enough damage that unless something goes very wrong, she has an excellent chance of just nailing the first thing.
...On second thought, no.
Iris might have a Hydreigon. Likely not first, but I do not need to ever give a Hydreigon extra moves. So.
Stormy, I guess. Stormy’s reliable, and whatever happens, probably won’t die in one hit. Okay.
Hi I’m Iris and I’m extra af.
AF.
Oh, I don’t remember her theme music. Feels... prancy. I like it.
HEY WAIT LOOK I DID A SMART THING SHE DOES HAVE HYDREIGON FIRST.
STORMY USE HAMMER ARM AND PLEASE HIT.
(It’s level 57.)
Hydreigon uses Flamethrower. I figured there was a very good chance of that happening, but Stormy endures the hit in the green, and Hammer Arm hits.
Hydreigon down!
Stormy grows to level 65!
Aggron is next.
I don’t want to risk Earthquake, Nessy’s taking this.
Level 57 Aggron, Nessy uses Surf. No point wasting Hydro Pump on something likely to have Sturdy.
Okay so it doesn’t have Sturdy.
It’s also gone now.
Nessy’s level 68.
Iris sends out a Lapras, Vertex needs something to do. Vertex uses Charge as a safety measure/to see if I can one-shot the Lapras. Lapras uses... Ice Beam, I think, but I was typing in this window when the attack went off. Because this has my full attention.
Vertex uses Spark. Lapras faints.
Iris has a Haxorus. It is level 59.
Well, Nessy has Ice Beam.
Haxorus hits first with Earthquake. Nessy stays green.
IRIS WHY DOES YOUR HAXORUS HAVE A FUCKING FOCUS SASH COME ON I’M SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO LIKE YOU.
Siiiigh. Nessy gets to use another Ice Beam, likely after the inevitable Full Restore comes in.
Yes to both those things.
Haxorus faints.
Iris sends out Druddigon, Nessy stays in. Nessy uses Ice Beam. ...Druddigon survives with a sliver of red, but is frozen. Nessy uses Ice Beam again. Druddigon faints.
Last up is Archeops.
I am, at heart, a sentimental man.
Caspet. I believe in you. You, the closest thing to a starter this run had after the first hour.
Use Shadow Ball.
WE WIN.
That...
Geez, that certainly happened, didn’t it? I can’t say I’m disappointed, exactly, because I like winning too much, but. Outside of Vertex vs. Scrafty, there wasn’t much fear involved. Kind of anticlimactic.
And sad, to think that Diego could have been part of it if we hadn’t met DAMIAN first. He missed it by so little.
Iris.
Iris.
Please.
Wait, where’s the shot of my entire team? Game!
No.
Here are our available living pokemon in the box. Hark and rejoice, my friends I will never play with again. The friends most of you never met are victorious.
Here lie Dreamor, Tagg, Sylarana, Sasuke, Itsy, Stella, Puff, Boruto, Cerberus, and Diego.
Thank you, and farewell.
Final team:
Nice job, guys.
Caspet, level 70.
Photon, level 65.
Nessy, level 68.
Vertex, level 64.
DAMIAN, level 65.
Stormy, level 65.
Phew.
So all of the tension went out of order for this one. My starter died early, I was massively overleveled for the Elite Four and didn’t even expect to be fighting them this round, then I was, and meaningful deaths weren’t that common or devastating.
But I had fun, and I hope the two of you who sometimes read these enjoyed the adventure. I’m done with this gen for like. at least a year, but I have decided to do a Nuzlocke of either Fire Red or Leaf Green. I don’t know which, but I’m not going to Randomize the run. I am going to have one very specific rule changing things up to make going back to the gen three version of gen one hopefully very worth it, but yeah.
I don’t know when that will be happening, but I seem to enjoy having one of these going. Plus, I think the rule changes I have in mind would make my posts less meandering.
Anyway, thanks for reading.

“Only an idiot would go after him,” Barry had said.
It was unfortunate for them that Dawn had never thought highly of her own intelligence.
The pocket dimension (or the Distortion World as Cynthia had called it) was unlike anything Dawn could compare to. It was cold, colder than she was used to even after living her entire life in Sinnoh, but she felt no desire to bundle herself deeper into her coat. Even so, she lingered closer to Infernape than usual.
Gravity appeared to be inconsistent. Dawn had taken to using the tall grey trees that sprung up at seeming random angles. Some walls would pull her down while others would crumble if even the slightly pressure was applied. The swirling blue vortex seemed to be impossibly close and terrifyingly distant at the same time. She tried not to think about it too hard.
The air was heavy with dread, the faint cries of the Pokémon that inhabited this lonely place echoed through the empty space.
Infernape chirped as he clambered up a rock for better vantage of the area. The sprawling floating islands stretched for as far as Dawn could see. But she still couldn’t spot the Galactic leader.
[How hard is it to find one anti-social weirdo?] Dawn signed. Infernape shrugged.
The ground shook violently, a long shadow rose up across the two. While the tremors finally calmed, the shadows took shape. The huge creature that had torn open a rift as Dialga and Palkia were summoned. It took all her self-control to make sure she didn’t start shaking.
Why are you here, dear sweet child? It didn’t speak directly, it’s voice floated in the empty space from no discernible direction.
[I’m here to bring Cyrus back to our world,] she signed. The creature sagged.
A man like that has no interest in returning to the complete world. Why bother?
[Everyone deserves redemption.]
The creature’s body shook, as if laughing, though it remained audibly silent. Ah, that’s it? How utterly hopeless. Before she could argue, it swooped over her, curving around the floating islands with the grace of a Milotic.
He is closer than you think, dear sweet child.
The TV set in Rowan’s lab was about a decade too old to be in such a high-tech environment, but the staff had grown to appreciate the background noise. It was often left on the news, but anyone was free to switch channels with permission.
Barry had long since abandoned the samples he was pretending to look over as he gave his full attention to the slightly fuzzy image. A fake talk show host sat across the desk from Champion Cynthia Shirona.
“Thanks again for coming on, I’m sure you must be awfully busy these days,” the host said, his grin so wide that it almost split his face. Cynthia offered a pleasant smile in return and Barry almost believed it.
“It’s not a problem, we don’t get many challengers these days.”
“Why do you think that is, if you don’t mind me asking?”
Cynthia’s smile wavered for a moment. “I believe it is out of respect for the previous Champion. Miss Hikari only reigned for a few months and never lost a battle in her time as Champion. I feel as though I am not a suitable substitute, and many hope to battle her when she returns.”
The host leaned back in his chair. “Do you have any idea when that may be?”
After a moment of silence, she said, “I can’t say for certain, we don’t know enough about what happened to her to properly predict the outcome. But it’s been a year already and some are beginning to doubt that she may ever come back.”
The host tutted in pity. “We can only hope that Miss Hikari returns home safely.”
Static overtook the screen and Barry groaned, sitting up to tinker with the antenna.
“Need a hand?”
Barry glanced up at the voice. Lucas dropped to a crouch beside him and gave the TV a good whack. Barry snorted.
“You know that doesn’t actually work, right?”
But the image onscreen fizzled back to life. Lucas smirked. “Don’t argue with results.”
His expression faltered when he saw Cynthia.
“Miss Hikari’s family and friends are still grieving for their loss even after all this time,” she said, turning her attention towards the camera, “I ask for only respect from the people of Sinnoh.”
Lucas took off his hat and rubbed the back of his head. “Jeez, it feels like yesterday.”
“She was gonna be eighteen today,” Barry grumbled, though didn’t look up from the screen, “we always said we would go on a trip around Unova or Kalos or something...”
With a sigh, Lucas pushed to his feet and went to open a window. Sandgem Town was only just warming up after a particularly harsh winter, but Lucas had always insisted that the fresh air was good for them.
“I asked the Professor for a field assignment,” he said, lifting a box marked ‘For Oreburgh’ and passing it off to Kadabra, “he’s sending us off to Lake Valor for a week to look at how the Pokémon in the surrounding areas are adapting-”
“After Team Galactic blew it up,” Barry interjected.
Lucas shuffled awkwardly. “Well, yeah, basically.”
“Great...” Barry huffed as he pushed to his feet. When he noticed how Lucas was playing with his coat, he sighed. “I do appreciate the effort, but couldn’t you have gotten anywhere else?”
“It was the only one still open,” Lucas offered meekly, “And I thought it might be good for you to try and face some of this stuff. You can’t exactly avoid it forever...”
As much as Barry hated to admit it, Lucas was right. He’d already put off revisiting the lakes since Dawn disappeared; it brought up too many emotions he wasn’t ready to face. He hadn’t set foot in Veilstone City either, not wanting anything to do with the ‘reformed’ Team Galactic. He knew they were up to something, there was no way they would suddenly shift into a genuine energy company overnight.
“If that’s too much,” Lucas began, “we can start off in Sendoff Spring and work our way up.”
After a long moment, Barry finally nodded.
“So long as we don’t stay in Veilstone.”
Barry had only ever seen Sendoff Spring in photos. They really didn’t do the place justice. It had the clearest water he had ever seen. Goldeen and Magikarp gathered in small clumps, a rare Seaking or even rarer Gyarados poking their heads above the surface to make sure these humans wouldn’t cause any trouble.
Lucas was perched on Torterra’s back as he set up the time lapse camera, muttering to himself as he worked.
“We left a few gauges in Turnback Cave last time we were here,” he said as he rummaged through he duffle bag, “if you wanna go check on them.”
Barry glanced over to the Golduck who were sizing them up from behind the treeline. “Will you be okay by yourself? What about the buddy system?”
Lucas laughed. “It’s fine, I’ll be with you in, like, five minutes.”
Even with Lucas’ assurances, he left Empoleon to keep watch. He found himself regretting his choice of footwear as his trainers struggled to keep grip on the rocky slopes. He ended stumbling and landing on his ass. A pair of Bibarel snickered at him but a quick glare sent them scurrying back into the tall grass.
Everything Barry knew about Sinnoh’s mythology came from Dawn or Cynthia. He certainly wouldn’t go out of his way to study it himself; most of it was pretty dull to him anyway.
Flood lights illuminated the first room, the signs of archaeological excavation everywhere. Cynthia had recently given the go ahead for a dig so long as the local Pokémon populations weren’t disturbed. Barry clambered over the tools and pits, finding the gauges Lucas had been talking about along the back wall.
He had started jotting down the numbers when he heard a heavy, dull sound. Almost as if something was being dragged. Barry reached for his belt, fingers gracing his Poké Balls.
Carefully sliding one foot in front of the other, he creeped along the wall. The sound grew louder as he moved closer to a sprawling painting of the Lake Spirits until another sound made him jump to action.
“Help... Anyone...?”
Someone was behind the wall. Barry threw out Snorlax and yelled through the wall as loud as his lungs could manage,
“Stand back, I’ll get you out!” He whipped around to face his Pokémon. “Body Slam!”
Snorlax roared as he threw himself into the wall with all the force he could muster. The wall cracked and groaned. A weak yelp came from the other side.
“Again!” Barry yelled. Snorlax obeyed. The section of wall shuddered and collapsed, dust billowing up into the air and catching in Barry’s throat and eyes. He choked and spluttered for a few seconds, fanning his face in a meek attempt to clear the air.
When it finally settled, Barry climbed through the hole and squinted through the darkness.
“Hello?” He called, doing a full three-sixty-turn before he caught sight of bright eyes in the dark.
Luxray eyes.
He fumbled for his torch. His heart almost stopped.
Before him stood a girl, who hadn’t changed in the year she’d been gone. Not physically at least. Her eyes were wild, her stance weaker, leaning on her Luxray for support. Her scarf was hanging untied from her neck, her coat tied around her waist, but her trusty hat remained in place.
Luxray stood strong, her frame wary, weighed down by an unconscious man draped over her back. But Barry couldn’t find it in him to care about that.
“Dawn?” he asked slowly, easing forward.
Dawn’s tired face eased into a relieved smile. “Barry...” she sighed, her voice scratchy from lack of use.
And then she fainted.
The closest hospital was Veilstone, so despite Barry’s preferences, they found themselves sat in the hallway of Veilstone Memorial, twiddling their thumbs and trying not to panic.
Cynthia arrived about an hour after they had first check in, flustered and closely followed by Looker from Interpol.
“Somehow the press already knows that they’re back,” Cynthia said as she paused to catch her breath, “there’s a crowd of reporters outside wanting to know what the deal is.”
“Holy shit,” was all Barry could say.
After the third hour, Professor Rowan appeared, his expression unreadable. Looker finally let out a regretful sigh.
“I know emotions are still high, but I need to take a statement,” he said, looking to Barry and Lucas.
Barry explained what had happened, conveniently leaving out how he’d destroyed a potentially priceless wall painting when Cynthia was still present.
“Wait, I thought she was mute?” Looker asked with a frown.
“Selectively,” Barry explained, “it’s her anxiety.”
“Ah, I see...” Looker muttered as he scribbled down notes in his pad.
Cynthia cleared her throat. “What about Cy- Akagi? Was he... awake when you found them?”
With a shake of his head, Barry said, “No, he was out. Luxray was carrying him.”
“Their Pokémon are at the nearby Centre to make sure they haven’t suffered any ill effects from their time in the other world,” Lucas added.
She seemed a little disappointed with the answer, but said nothing.
Rowan seemed to notice. “Miss Shirona, would you mind accompanying me for a short walk?”
Cynthia exchanged a glance with Looker before she nodded. The two strolled away, speaking in hushed tones.
When Barry frowned, Looker said, “They used to be close. Miss Shirona and Mr Akagi. Grew up together I believe.”
“Cynthia was friends with him?” Barry’s voice dripped with disgust.
Lucas narrowed his eyes, crossing his arms across his chest. He opened his mouth to speak, but quickly silenced himself.
It was the seventh hour when a doctor came by to confirm that Dawn was stable but still unconscious. She encouraged the boys to head to bed and get some rest. It was only then that Barry realised it was past eleven o’clock and his body sagged with sudden exhaustion. Looker held back to question the doctor, but Barry and Lucas headed for the Pokémon Centre.
As Cynthia had mentioned, there were a few reporters outside. Most of them had headed off when they figured out that they weren’t going to get any of the juicy stuff from staking out the joint. That or the hospital staff had forced them to move along. Only the truly dedicated or clueless remained and they tried to pounce on the boys for an interview only to be totally ignored.
The nurses at the Pokémon Centre handed over a set of Poké Balls once Barry and Lucas could prove their identities. Dawn’s Poké Balls.
“What about Akagi’s?” Lucas asked.
“Miss Shirona already came by a while ago and picked them up.”
Their room was basic, but they didn’t need anything fancy. Lucas was asleep in seconds, snoring like a freight train as soon as his head hit the pillow. Barry lay awake staring at the ceiling. He barely slept a wink.
It was about a week before Dawn was awake and lucid enough to accept visitors. Before they headed in, the doctor pulled them aside to explain the rules.
“Don’t make any sudden moves or loud noises, don’t mention anything about Mt Coronet, and do not tell her anything about Mr Akagi’s condition outside of ‘he’s fine.’ She is still experiencing high levels of stress and anxiety. If she goes into a panic attack, call the nurse.”
Lucas went in first, insisting it was better for Barry to calm himself down before he raced in shouting and freaked her out any more. He begrudgingly accepted.
While he waited, Looker appeared and sat beside him.
“I’ll have to head in after you,” he said.
“Doctor said you can’t ask her about what happened,” Barry warned. Looker sighed.
“I expected as much... But at the very least I want to see how she’s doing with my own eyes.” He reached down to pet Croagunk. “Akagi is still totally out of it. If he does wake up he’s completely hysterical.”
“Honestly? I don’t care if he gets any better,” Barry said. Looker stared at him with an expression he couldn’t figure out.
“Why do you say that?”
“You gotta forgive me for not having much sympathy for the guy who tried to destroy the universe and dragged my best friend through a wormhole.”
“My understanding was that Miss Hikari followed from her own will?”
“You get what I mean!” Barry snapped. “Dawn was always too nice for her own good! She thought that even something like... that can be forgiven. He doesn’t deserve her sympathy.”
Looker sighed, pushing a hand through his hair. “I don’t think she thought he deserved her help, but she thought he needed it.” He tapped his temple. “That’s the working theory, at least.”
“I’m doubting your ‘working theory,’ Mister Looker.”
“If you think that is questionable, don’t read any of the newspaper articles that came out over the last week.”
Barry had made a point of avoiding any news stations after Lucas noted that he would probably just get angry at whatever he saw.
There was a distinct click of the door reopening and Lucas poked his head out. He glanced between Barry and Looker with a frown.
“Is now a bad time?”
Barry pushed to his feet and made his way to the door without looking back. “Now is great,” he said as he shouldered past Lucas into the room. Lucas tensed, ready to bite back but he thought better of it and slipped out, closing the door behind him.
It was like a dream, from the way the light filtered through the window to how utterly defeated the girl in the bed looked.
In all the years he had known her, Barry had rarely seen Dawn looking so broken. The only other time he could think of was after her mother had locked her out one night in their early teenaged years. She had turned up on his doorstep in tears but refused to speak of it the following morning.
Dawn glanced over as he entered and gave him a fragile smile.
“I know, I look super weird without my hat,” she said, her voice straining as she spoke.
The only people she spoke aloud to were Barry, Lucas, and Cynthia but even then she preferred to sign when possible. Barry frowned.
“You don’t have to talk.”
She shrugged. “My arms are tired from talking to the doctors.”
There was a chair next to the bed, dragged over from the corner and battered from excessive wear and tear. Barry slowly lowered himself into it and offered a hand to Dawn. She took it and rubbed a thumb over his knuckles.
“I missed you,” she said. Those words broke something within Barry. His chest felt tight and his eyes stung as tears sprung up in the corners of his eyes. He reached up to wipe them with his free hand.
“I missed you so much,” he sobbed, clutching her hand like a lifeline.
With a soft tug, he found himself bundled into a tight hug. Dawn lightly stroked his back as he wheezed and bawled. His words stopped making sense as he rambled for what felt like hours. She never said a word, just let him cry and kept stroking his back.
Once he’d finally calmed down enough to speak properly, he pulled back to wipe his face. “Why... Why did you leave?”
Dawn blinked in confusion for a moment before the words finally settled and she looked to the window. She squeezed Barry’s hand.
“Giratina would’ve destroyed him if I let him go in there alone.”
White hot rage shot through him. “Who cares about him?! You could’ve died!”
Dawn jumped at his volume. He immediately recoiled with apologies.
“I’m sorry I just... I was so scared that I’d never see you again. That you’d just thrown everything away from some asshole who wanted to destroy everything.”
The air was heavy and cold, making him shudder. Dawn’s eyes were hard.
“You don’t know anything about what happened,” she said, her free hand tightening in the sheets, “you weren’t there. So don’t you dare try to paint this like some black and white issue because this isn’t like one of those dumb cartoons we used to watch.”
Her voice started to quiver in her throat, as if it were about to give out. “Why would I throw away my life for someone I didn’t think deserved a second chance? If he was as evil as you think then why...” She coughed and gasped around the words. “Why did Cynthia cry when she found out he was still alive? Why did Rowan look so relieved? Why would anyone care about a man if he were pure evil?”
“I...” Barry couldn’t form anything, his response dying before it could escape, “I didn’t think...”
“No... you didn’t think with your head. You just went with your heart...” She smiled fondly. “Like you always do.” It was her turn to cry. “It’s why you’re my best friend. But...” Her voice almost gave out with a croak. “I need you to trust me on this... Please, Barry...”
They were quiet for a long moment, only the foggy sounds of the city outside and the nurses roaming the halls punctuating their moment.
“Okay...” Barry hugged her once more. “I trust you.”
Over the next month, Barry dropped in to visit every opportunity he had. Between the short visitor hours and his job at Rowan’s Lab he could rarely spend more than an hour with her, but Dawn appreciated the effort.
“It’s not like there’s anything else to do around here,” she had said, “the doctors won’t tell me anything.”
The time spent in the hospital was either in her room or the rehabilitation centre. Her time in the other world had weakened her muscles and left her easily disorientated and her Chatot was left with her at all times to alert staff of impending panic attacks.
Occasionally her perception of reality slipped and she was back in the other world, clawing at the sheets and crying out for anything to cling to. Barry soon learnt that the worse thing he could do was the call the doctors. She seemed to settle faster if a familiar face was there instead of a looming stranger in a white coat. Not to say that they didn’t work hard to make sure her recovery was as smooth as possible, but there were a few areas in which Barry didn’t trust them as much as he trusted himself.
Whenever they met up, he tried to keep her updated on the situation outside but she could only deal with so much before she wanted to talk about something else.
Dawn tried not to talk about Team Galactic around Barry. Anything about them came from Cynthia or Rowan.
One day, about three weeks after she’d checked in, Barry noticed flowers on her bedside table.
“Apparently they’re from Saturn,” Dawn said as she reached over to readjust the arrangement, “or whatever it is he goes by these days.”
It took far too much self-control not to make a point of knocking them down.
Before he could comment, she had asked about how Lucas was doing and they didn’t mention Team Galactic again for the rest of the exchange.
With Dawn still under the watchful eye of the hospital staff, Cynthia had been turning down interviews from all angles. Interpol was hanging around, trying their best to be covert but everyone knew of their presence. It was enough to scare off most of the reporters, so Barry didn’t mind too much.
It was week four before Dawn finally got sick of not being told anything by the doctors and asked Barry to bring in outside goods. He started sneaking in snacks and newspapers, something Lucas didn’t have the heart to discourage.
“If anyone finds out, I don’t know you,” Lucas joked, but from the look on his face he’d been totally serious.
Dawn always accepted the papers with a mix of excitement and dread. Barry had purposely avoided sensationalist papers and she wouldn’t have had it any other way.
“What’s the worst one you’ve seen?” she asked, glancing up from the headline ‘Champion Hikari is expected to make full recovery.’
“Some folks from Kalos are trying to push the secret love affair angle.”
Dawn retched. “Ew! That’s so gross! Are you serious?” When Barry nodded, she groaned. “People are the worst...”
Barry shuffled his feet awkwardly. “How much do you know about...”
“About Cyrus’ condition?” Dawn sighed and folded her hands in her lap. “Only what Cynthia told me. That he’s awake more often but he’s always hysterical unless Cynthia or one of his Pokémon is there.” She looked down, brushing some loose hair behind her ear. “He asks about me a lot. He thought I was dead for the first week until Cynthia could get him to calm down.”
When Barry said nothing in response, she trailed off.
“Sorry, I know you don’t care about him.”
With a shrug, Barry said, “I’m trying this ‘empathy’ thing, but it’s kinda hard.”
Dawn laughed. “You’re trying your best and that’s what matters.”
Week five rolled around and Barry felt oddly apprehensive as he entered the hospital. Cynthia was trying to convince the doctors to let her move Cyrus to the medical centre at the Pokémon League, though hadn’t had much luck so far.
She was in a Holo Caster call when Barry spotted her in the lobby, foot tapping rapidly as she let out a huff. She hung up on the person mid-sentence.
“Jeez, what did that guy ever do to you?” Barry joked. Cynthia rolled her eyes.
“Another station wanting an interview. I’m gonna need a secretary at this rate.”
They made their way to the ward, exchanging tips on Roserade care when they noticed a familiar face.
“I thought you said you didn’t want to come by,” Cynthia said softly, reaching out to shake Saturn’s hand.
The young man was awfully stiff, his frame holding no strength. It was hard to believe he was now the head of the leading energy provider for Sinnoh. He took the offered hand through obligation rather than comradery.
“I feel as though I owe him a visit at the very least,” he muttered, “blame Mabel.”
Cynthia chuckled. “Fair enough, I’ll show you to his room if you wish.”
Saturn just nodded and trailed closely behind her, like a child making sure they wouldn’t lose their mother while out shopping.
“I’ll meet up with you later, okay Barry?”
Barry just nodded, watching until the two disappeared around a corner. He headed off to Dawn’s room.
“What do you mean I can’t see her? She’s my daughter!”
The doctor looked exhausted, the effects of this morning’s coffee having not yet kicked in. “She has explicitly requested that you are not allowed in to see her.”
“This is ridiculous!” Johanna threw up her hands in dismay. “You can’t stop me from going in!”
“Ma’am, we keep telling you that we can’t let you in.”
Barry hoped to sneak past without being noticed but the woman whirled round as soon as she heard movement, eyes focusing on him like a Mandibuzz.
“And you! How dare you ignore my calls! I have a right to know what’s going on here!”
“Please, Mrs Hikari, you’re making a scene-”
“Not until this little brat-”
Barry looked straight past her to the doctor. “Am I alright to go in?”
The doctor nodded. Johanna sounded about she was about to start sobbing. He paid her no mind as he pushed into Dawn’s room.
Soft music came from the radio set on her bedside table. She had managed to convince the doctors to let her keep it, even if it did have access to news stations. They couldn’t protect her from the outside world forever
Dawn didn’t look away from the window as Barry walked in, humming softly to herself. “Morning,” she said, stretching a hand out for him to take.
“Did you know your mom’s here?”
She scoffed. “How could I not? She’s gonna scream the place down. I can’t tell if she’s genuinely worried or just mad that all the effort she put into her precious protégé is gonna be for nothing.”
Dawn’s words held venom unlike anything he had ever heard from her. She had never been one to outwardly bad-mouth how her mother had raised her, that was Barry’s job. Dawn always found herself trying to excuse her mother’s behaviour, no matter the seriousness.
What had happened to her in the other world?
“Dawn...”
“I’m fine,” she insisted, waving her hand, “I’ll be fine, just...” She took a deep breath. “Give me a minute.”
The music from the radio drifted into soft piano, an old Kalosian piece that had been growing in popularity recently. Barry pushed up to his feet and extended his hand to Dawn.
“What...?”
“Come on, I don’t think we’ve danced since we were twelve.”
Dawn blinked once, twice, and reached up to wipe her face. She took his hand and slid her legs over the side of the bed. Physical rehabilitation had been going well but she was still shaky on her legs. After some careful manoeuvring, she perched her bare feet on stop of his heavy boots and let him guide her around the small room, swaying out of tempo with the music.
They didn’t care, both simply content to be together without having to worry about the outside world.
Dawn was released after two months, but only under the agreement that she would inform the doctors immediately if she experienced any issues and would continue to attend therapy sessions once a week.
Meanwhile Cynthia had somehow convinced the doctors that Cyrus was ready to be discharged alongside her. Either the doctors were just sick of her asking or just didn’t want to deal with him anymore. Barry was willing to believe both.
It was only after he and Cynthia went to pick them up that he realised he hadn’t seen Cyrus since the initial discovery in Turnback Cave. He wasn’t exactly on the edge of his seat to see the man again but accepted that it was going to happen whether he wanted it or not.
The lobby was strangely quiet, though Barry assumed it had something to do with Interpol. Looker hovered besides the two, Dawn excitedly signing as Cyrus struggled to keep up.
The agreement was for Cyrus to stay with Dawn on Route 229, but Cynthia would be arranging for a psychiatrist if necessary.
Barry had offered to take her back to Twinleaf Town, but Dawn had made herself very clear that she had no intention of going back.
[Besides, there aren’t enough bedrooms even if I did want to stay there,] she signed.
The Villa on Route 229 had barely been touched since the incident at the Spear Pillar. Barry and Lucas would drop by every month or so to make sure everything was in working order, but it otherwise stayed empty. It was far enough away to give them space, but close enough to society that they could seek out assistance if necessary.
Tension leaked from Dawn’s form when she opened the door. She and Cynthia went to pack away her things, leaving Barry with Looker and Cyrus.
“Interpol will be dropping by throughout the next few weeks to make sure you’re settling,” Looker said as he glanced to Cyrus, “and to make sure you don’t start anything. Nothing personal, just a cautionary action.”
Cyrus just nodded.
“Right then,” Looker fixed his poor posture and glanced to Barry, “are you sticking around as well?”
“For as long as Dawn wants me here, yeah.”
Looker smiled and opened his mouth to respond, but thought better of it and shook his head.
“Then, gentlemen, I wish you well,” Looker bowed his head, turned on his heel and headed out into the cool spring air.
Cynthia left shortly after she was certain everything was secure. Duty called.
“We’ll have another battle at some point to see who gets to keep the title,” she said as she summoned Garchomp.
[We both know I’ll win,] Dawn signed smugly. Cynthia threw back her head as she laughed.
“We’ll see about that.”
She turned her attention to Cyrus, who had been silent since they arrived.
“Are you gonna be okay? I can stick around if you want?”
Cyrus was still looking at his feet. He shook his head.
[If anything happens, I’ll give you a call,] Dawn signed.
With a sigh, Cynthia reached over to pat his shoulder. Cyrus finally met her eyes. “Don’t be afraid to ask for help. It’s why you’re here.”
Cyrus stared at her for a long moment, shoulders tensed like a cornered Pokémon. He remained strung high even as Cynthia took her hand away, turning to climb up onto Garchomp’s back.
“Have a good night. I’m not too far away if you need any help, okay?”
[I think we’ll be okay, thanks Cynthia.] Dawn smiled wide. [Have a safe trip.]
With one last look, Cynthia gave her partner a pat. “Come on, let’s get going,” she said. Garchomp chirped and took a running start before taking off, propelling herself upwards into the clear sky.
They watched until the dragon disappeared from sight.

Pokemon Card of the Day #864: Rhyperior (Diamond & Pearl)
Rhyperior was one of those slow, bulky, and powerful Pokemon in the games, and it also got a new signature move in gen 4 that was a physical Rock-type Hyper Beam. All of this came together to make this card, as it had really high HP, an attack that could only be used every other turn, and a ridiculous Retreat Cost. It played about how you might expect for a card like this, as in it really didn’t do all that well. A high Retreat Cost combined with Rock Wrecker’s effect was hard to overcome. The damage was pretty solid for the cost, at least, so it wasn’t useless or anything either.
140 HP was spectacular. I’m pretty sure there was no Pokemon that wasn’t a Pokemon-ex or LV.X that topped that for a long time. I actually forgot that 140 was a thing at all back then. A +30 Water Weakness wasn’t the best in the era of multiple Empoleon decks, but it didn’t make as much of a difference as you might think. Rhyperior was likely to go down to two hits whether it had the Weakness or not. A -20 Lightning Resistance was interesting, mostly against things like MetaNite in DX-On and Luxray GL decks in DP-On. The Retreat Cost was absurdly high at 4, and when combined with Rock Wrecker’s effect, basically required a ton of help to be able to use Rhyperior at all. Switch, Warp Point, and other cards were basically required.
Earth Fissure wasn’t bad at all. Once during your turn, when you played Rhyperior from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokemon, you could discard the top 3 cards from your opponent’s deck. Hopefully they would be important cards, but getting rid of 3 cards from their deck in general was good. Maybe not something to rely on to change a game, but it could work and it was a nice bonus when evolving to Rhyperior in the first place.
Rock Wrecker was Rhyperior’s only attack. 80 damage for 3 Energy was very good, but the effect killed it. The attack wasn’t affected by Weakness or Resistance, so Fighting Resistances had problems but Pokemon with Weaknesses didn’t mind as much. That wasn’t the problem, though, it was that Rhyperior couldn’t attack during the next turn. Waiting a turn between attacks was devastating and gave too many free turns to the opponent. The only way to really use Rhyperior was to switch it out afterwards, which cost so much Energy that it forced certain Trainer cards to be used, taking up deck space that other decks used for better things.
Rhyperior wasn’t the worst thing in the world, but only being able to attack every other turn was too much to overcome. It took a basically perfect set-up to be truly dangerous, though it did enough damage to put a hole into something important on that first attacking turn. This was probably a more casual card than anything. Not quite bad enough to be total binder fodder, but not good enough to play seriously either.

An Easy Way Of Defeating Dialga
Get a Pokemon learn “Mirror Move” (Torchic learns “Mirror Move” around Lv.37). So when Dialga uses Roar Of Time, the damage you take will be returned to Dialga itself. Also take around 4 reviver seeds with you in case you need it (Note: You can use this trick against other bosses or other tuff Pokemons)
Golden Apples
Golden Apples are extremely rare food items. They completely refill and greatly increase the size of the eating pokemon’s belly. To find them, complete a job that involves exploring a Golden Chamber. The boxes in the chamber will contain the apples when you get them appraised.
Secret Slab/Mystery Part
To get the Secret Slab or the Mystery Part (needed for finding certain special pokemon), check the job listings board for a client looking to go on a mission and find either item.
How To Get Hitmontop, Hitmonchan, Or Hitmonlee
First, you have to get to Mt. Travail. Then, keep fighting till you get to a tyrogue. Beat it and recruit it. Keep leveling it up to at least level 20. If you want a hitmonlee make the attack greater than defense. If you want a hitmontop make the attack equal to the defense and if you want a hitmonchan make the defense greater than the attack.
Darkrai
To get Darkria to join your team you need a mystery part.
Unlocking The “Secret Rank”
After you beat the game(defeating Dialga) do some missions and you will eventually find a Mr. Mime at the Treasure Town. Talk to him and he will tell you about Blizzard Island and how a long time ago Scizor got trapped deep in Blizzard Island. Then you gain access to Blizzard Island. Get through the 20 floors and you go to Crevice Cave. Get through its 10 floors and save at the Kangaskhan Statue and get through another 14 floors. Then you meet Frosslass. Fight him and then you will save Scizor and he will thank you by giving you the Secret Rank.
How To Beat Mew
To beat mew you’ll need about 4 X-eye seeds. If you don’t have any X-eye seeds, you will need tons of reviver seeds. You would a lot need a psychic pokemon, in that case you would not need reviver seeds. Do not bring any rock pokemon with you. When your attacking mew throw one of you X-eye seeds at it. If Mew dodges the seed, throw another one. After being hit with an X-eye Mew can’t see straight. Use Psychic and Confusion to bring down Mew. (Hint: You can also use Crunch or Bite to bring down Mew)
Easier Way Of Defeating Tough Bosses Or Outlaws
Using sleep seeds, stun seeds, x-eye seeds, etc, will make it easier to defeat tough enemies.
Evolving Starters
After unlocking the ability to evolve pokemon by graduating from the guild, recruit palkia to be able to evolve your starters
Golden Mask
My friend has the Golden Mask and he says that you make new recruits faster with the golden mask. To get it, go to one of the Zero Isle dungeons and complete the dungeon.
Beat Dialga
Here is a quick way to beat Dialga. Use ground moves! It took me 5 digs (3 missed) to beat him.
Final Maze
When you beat the game [beat dialga] go down to the dojo. You will hear a loud noise and there you have it the Final Maze.
Pokemon Training
If you feel that you need to strengthen yourself and collect new items, you should train at the Marowak Dojo. Here, you can train without risk of losing any items if your KO’d. But, you must first place all your current items in the Kangashghan Storage, or you’ll lose all of your current items.
Cheats
Get Life
To get life hold Down, A, and B.
