What I'd wear with my sp
Inspired by @princessbrunette bunny!reader in her rafe cameron posts and @sugarcandydoll rafe post (my sp def has some elements of the rafe scripts yall been making i couldnt help myself) 😭
♡ Definitely an outfit I'd wear with him out at the country clubs and rich social gatherings bringing a sense of innocent but slutty doll at his side. I'm so gonna get scolded for wearing what he'd call "scraps of fabrics for clothes" in front of all these thirsty men here but let's be honest, we both know it's hot and I ain't talkin bout the weather darlin.
♡ Bae needs chill time with the bros? Time to go more sporty. Playing with the dynamic between femininity but also meshing with men's naturally rough nature. Elements of pretty and sporty paired with sexy and cute. I'll happily be sitting all cute while he plays basketball or watch him horse race with his buddies and colleagues while I read through the latest fashion magazine wondering what my next shopping spree is gonna be like.
♡ aww..daddy has to work AGAIN 🙄 luckily I'm not just a little ditsy bimbo but a smart one as well..at least when I wanna be hehe. This calls for going full on preppy and sophisticated. Mini skirts still gonna happen though hehe.
♡ Now let's get to the good stuff, PARTY TIMEEE!! ..or at least the arrival hehe. Ofc my man is sitting with some of the hottest names in the industry like beyonce and Jay z, Sofia Richie, hell even the royals of England. But who's on the side of him? Me thats who, his finest treasure he just debut to show off to the whole world. So why not make a good first impression. Definitely faux fur, sleek sheer fabric gowns, satin silk slip dresses paired with a fur coat. Something sexy but definitely elegant giving room for an eye of luxe towards a crown jewel such as myself. A mixture of royal and romance. Plus with a nice slit, makes teasing so much easier at that gala dinner table and bathroom doesn't it? 🤭
♡ Finally its after party timee!! This calls for the highest of high heels and miniest dress you can find. Handbags are essential and a lil cheetah print definitely screams sex symbol of the night once again. Ofc he's probably gonna beat up any man who looks at my figure matter fact even has a thought on it. Ooh and can't forget the princess tiara, oh what would a little heiress like me be without her.

“She’s a role model, a mentor. She had so much aplomb. She’d wear spiked heels and gold lamé to take out the garbage. She literally lost her head. She started taking acid and cocaine and had the Church of Satan living in her house. I saw her as a child. I think that’s why I’m fascinated by her. She opened a shop in Sacramento, and I remember she was with this man, and she looked really big, and she had a really big hairdo, and I remember it was full of dirt. Tons of dirt stuck to her hairspray. I thought, Man – she’s so intense! I’ve been fascinated by her ever since.”
/ Poison Ivy Rorschach discussing Jayne Mansfield in an interview by the fabulous Siân Pattenden for the November 1994 issue of Select magazine /
It’s entirely appropriate and no surprise that “Addams Family of Punk” The Cramps venerated kitsch icon Jayne Mansfield (cinema’s sultan of sleaze John Waters, too, has been voluble on Mansfield’s impact on his campy sensibility). The Cramps referenced the sex kitten-gone-berserk at least twice in their lyrics: “Is this the way Jayne Mansfield died?” frontman Lux Interior leered on “Bend Over, I’ll Drive” from Look Mom, No Head! (1991). Later, he’d brag “I'm the feathered serpent of the Aztecs / I've weathered the invasion of the insects / I invented the Jayne Mansfield Nuclear project / The Pope genuflects to gain my respect” from “Confessions of a Psycho Cat” on Big Beat from Badsville (1997). In terms of Poison Ivy’s reflections above: like many of her Hollywood peers Mansfield would have popped “dolls” and diet pills and it’s speculated Mansfield experimented with LSD, but I’ve never seen cocaine consumption documented anywhere. (Jayne’s primary vice was alcohol). Mansfield’s fleeting dalliance with Anton LaVey (“Black Pope” of the Church of Satan) was a publicity stunt and he certainly never lived at the Pink Palace. And her recollection of Mansfield opening a store in Sacramento feels like a half-remembered David Lynch-ian fever dream! But some of Mansfield’s bouffant wigs in the sixties were pretty disheveled, so it could be true!

No1, best spot in Mauritius.
The Le Caudan Waterfront in Mauritius is like a cool history book with some seriously awesome stories? The first meteorological observatory in the entire Indian Ocean is now where you can grab some delicious eats at the Food Court or Namasté restaurant. Imagine, weather predictions went down there!
And the spot where the Blue Penny Museum stands today used to be the old Docks office. Yeah, the names of the different parts of the complex are like a blast from the past, telling stories from Mauritius' colonial history.
Le Caudan Waterfront got its name from Jean Dominique Michel de Caudan. Back in 1726, he was the boss who started a saltpan near a small bay in the southwest of Port-Louis.
It was built up over 250 years around this super ancient fossil coral island. There used to be a powder magazine, an observatory checking out the stars and weather, and tons of cool spots like quays, warehouses, and small businesses.
Back in the day, the harbor's daily business was all about the sugar scene. Everything moved to the beat of the sugar industry until they built the Bulk Sugar Terminal in 1980.
The street is like an Instagram dream with these super bright umbrellas. They're not just for shade, they're a visual feast! Locals and tourists are all about snapping pics there, and they switch up the umbrella colors for special days, like Independence Day.
Check out these epic spots to catch movies at Le Caudan Waterfront:
MCine Port Louis: This cinema at Le Caudan Waterfront is legit! Three brand-new halls, 7.1 Dolby Digital Sound – basically, the works. Perfect for catching all the latest movies.
Star Cinema: Get this – located at Le Pavillon, Le Caudan Waterfront, this cinema is all about the high life. Luxe vibes, classy settings, and total comfort for your movie marathon.
CineKlassic Caudan: Head to Caudan Waterfront for a movie experience with a vintage twist! It's like stepping back in time while catching the latest hits.
Are you planning a trip to Mauritius? Here's the lowdown: the weather's tropical and sweet all year round, like 20°C to 30°C vibes. But here's the deal – the island's got two seasons: summer (November to April) and winter (May to October).
Oh, and if you're into epic events and festivals, Mauritius is where it's at! Tons of beliefs and faiths, and the whole island turns into a party. So, pack your gear, catch some winter sun, and get ready to vibe with the coolest events ever.
The Blue Penny Museum is also at Le Caudan. It Opened its doors in November 2001, and it's all about Mauritius' history and art scene.
Inside, they've got some cool collections, including those super famous Post Office stamps. The museum collection includes the 1847 Blue Penny and Red Penny stamps, which are considered to be among the rarest and most valuable stamps in the world .
These stamps were bought in 1993 for $2,000,000 by a consortium of Mauritian enterprises headed by The Mauritius Commercial Bank and brought back to Mauritius after almost 150 years.
The Blue Penny stamps are only visible for 10 minutes on the half-hour of every opening hour to protect them from the ageing and destroying effects of sun rays.
You can check it out from Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 5 PM, but it's a no-go on Sundays and public holidays. Non-residents, it's 245Tupees for adults, 120 Rupees for the younger crew, and 580 Rupees for a fam of two adults and two kids. If you're a resident, you're in for just 50 Rupees.
One thing to remember, though – no munchies or drinks allowed inside, and keep the camera in your pocket.
Thank you for watching the video, don’t forget to smash the subscribe button. See you in the next video.

OTPtober 2022 - Candlelight
OTPtober Masterlist Word count: 2,235 words. ‘Warnings’: FOC, but that’s it really? AU: It’s a Danger Days AU! Notes: Yes, there’s a backstory behind this - how we get to this point so to speak. No, the backstory isn’t here. Yes, I plan on posting it at some point. Hold ya horses :P
Oh and Killer Lux is Robin’s girl. (Of course.) And you can find her adventures under the OC section here.
A power cut at The Diner may or may not start to shine some light on a situation between Siren and Party Poison.
[Set after Shelly’s transformation - from a City girl to a Killjoy called Siren.] It was late in the afternoon, maybe closer to the evening. Kobra and Lux were off having some alone time. They said that they were going on patrol, but everyone knew better. Jet and Ghoul were actually on patrol - safety in pairs after all. Party had been left to watch over the “fresh meat” as Ghoul had called her (as he was eyeing Siren up with a not at all subtle look on his face). She hadn’t taken offence to this at all, in fact she had rolled her eyes playfully and blew him a kiss before turning on her heel to go to one of the back rooms. “Maybe you should stay Ghoul,” Party muttered. “The alone time might do you two some good.” Ghoul snorted. “And have either her or Miss Lux eat me alive? I don’t think so.” “I don’t know,” Party shrugged and turned the page in the magazine he was reading. “Figured you might be into that.” The shorter man shook his head. “Just be good while we’re all gone. Don’t antagonise her, because Lux will find out.” The two men shared a look - the other woman, Killer Lux, had taken a shine to Siren and had already threatened Party at least once, maybe twice, with her “I’m watching you!” look. Ghoul had also been offered to be separated from his kneecaps if he wasn’t careful with the new girl. Ghoul couldn’t help but feel like the threats were unfair, considering the fact that Party had technically made her cry at least once already (even if she said that it wasn’t his fault and that he’d been good to her during it) but… He was not going to argue with Killer Lux. Jet stuck his head around the door of the diner. “C’mon dude, let’s make tracks.” Ghoul patted Party’s shoulder and hurried after the much taller Killjoy. The red-head shook his head as the door closed behind them, pushed the magazine aside and leant back in the booth with a sigh. It wasn’t that he had anything against the new girl, but… He wasn’t a babysitter. On the other hand… It was his fault she was here. He wasn’t sure if he was ever going to stop beating himself up about that. Speaking of the girl… He groaned a little as he pushed himself out of the booth and stretched before heading to the back rooms to see what she was up to. He found her in the main bedroom, tidying and adjusting things. He leant against the doorframe to watch her, until he was noticed or until he got bored, whichever came first. She was humming a little to herself, tidying the spaces between the cots. Not that she needed to do that, but he guessed that she was feeling a little useless again. Or maybe restless. He didn’t realise that he’d zoned out until he heard her make a noise of surprise, which made him refocus his attention on her. “Why are you creeping up on me again?” He frowned. “I’m not. I’ve been here for a few minutes.” Siren frowned right back. “Because that’s not weird. Why didn’t you announce your gracious presence?” Party found himself snorting. “You might’ve heard me had you not been so lost in your head.” Siren rolled her eyes and shook her head. “It’s a nicer place to be sometimes.” “I don’t think you really mean that,” he moved out of the way as she approached him, only to have her leave the room and head to the next one - a single room they’d made up just in case someone needed a solo room. (Siren had been the one in mind when they’d been sorting it out really - in case she got overwhelmed and needed the space. Or in case someone got injured and needed the uninterrupted rest time.) “I do mean that,” she said, side stepping a box that needed putting away. The room was a combination of storage room for some of the surplus stuff they gathered and now a bedroom. Party leant in this doorway too, the door propped open behind him. He couldn’t help but smile a little when she looked up, noticed him leaning again and audibly sighed. “If you’ve got time to lean,” she grumbled. “You’ve time to help me out.” “Oh?” “Come and help me shift some of these boxes around.” Party raised an eyebrow at her and it took a minute or two before she noticed that he wasn’t moving, looking up at him while attempting to move a box. When she saw the look on his face, she rolled her eyes before smiling sweetly. “Pretty please?” “That’s better,” Party nodded and went to help her. They moved the boxes around and reorganised them better for a little while. Siren stood upright and stretched, unaware that she was drawing the red-head’s attention. Even though he tried not to be too much like Ghoul, he couldn’t help it. She stretched hard, apparently, so hard she almost lost her balance when she dropped back down from being on her tiptoes. And then the lights went out. There was a squeak of surprise from the girl and then a thud - she obviously actually lost her balance that time. “Are you okay?” Siren whined. “I don’t know. What’s going on?” “Erm, I’m not sure,” Party replied, lowering his voice. “Stay there okay?” “Not really planning on hurting myself more, by stumbling around in the dark, so sure thing.” Party snorted and started carefully feeling his way around to where they’d put a storage crate under the cot, kneeling down beside the bed when he got there. He could hear Siren shifting about a little bit as he groped around in the box until he found some candles - they all had them under their beds, and there were some stashed in other places in the diner for this reason. “What are you doing?” Siren asked quietly. “Hang on.” She heard the recognisable sound of a match being struck and blinked rapidly as a candle or two were lit. She looked from the flame up to Party’s face and saw him smile gently as he put one of the candles on the box that acted like a side table. She watched him position the other candle so there was one either side of them so the circle of light, for lack of a better term, was bigger. “Are you okay?” He asked as he sat on the floor opposite her. “I…” Siren frowned; she swore that she could see concern on his pretty face. “I think so. I think I was more surprised by the impact than I was hurt by it.” The red-head nodded. “Okay, well, when the lights come back we’ll check you over.” “You don’t need to do that,” she shook her head before tucking her hair behind her ear. “Do we need to worry? Has someone cut our power?” Party tilted his head to listen to their surroundings for a moment. “No, I don’t think so. I think it’s just a blip. It’ll be fine.” “So we don’t have to worry about being attacked right now?” He could hear the… Fear, actual fear in her voice and felt pretty bad for her. They were trying to teach her how to fight, and for the most part she wasn’t doing too badly. But she was still nervous. “No,” he said after a minute. “I don’t think so.” Siren nodded and shifted about on the floor. She was pretty by this type of light, he thought. The candles gave her a soft glow, like an aura, almost. It made her hair look particularly stunning. Although he did wonder what she would’ve looked like in this light had she stayed blonde. Because it had been pretty, it had been a beautiful shade. It was just very recognisable and needed to be changed to help her fit in and survive. “Are you sure? You don’t feel the need to go and check?” Party shook his head. “We’re fine, I promise.” Siren narrowed her eyes at him a little bit, seemingly trying to decide if she believed him or not. “Okay,” she said eventually. Party guessed that she decided to believe him for now and he watched her lean back against whatever was behind her; some boxes he thought. “Are you sure you’re okay?” She hummed. “Yeah, I just don’t feel like getting up and probably falling over myself again. ‘Cause I’m likely to do that.” “I can help you up if you’re that worried,” Party tilted his head at her, blinking rapidly when she looked at him. “What, so I can take you down with me?” Siren shook her head. “No, I’ll just wait a little longer.” The red-head rolled his eyes, managed to get to his feet with little effort and without disturbing either of the candles. He dusted himself down a bit and moved closer to the still sitting girl. He sighed and offered her both of his hands to help her up. “C’mon Siren,” he said. “Up we get.” She glanced up at him and then eyed his hands warily. Ultimately, she only accepted his help (with a sigh of her own, he noticed) because she didn’t like him towering over her like that. She took his hands and felt him tighten his grip. It was so weird feeling his actual hands - she was so used to seeing him wearing those stupid (but attractive) gloves. He pulled her to her feet with no effort. She made a note of this while trying not to be too… Curious about his strength. “There we go,” he said softly once she was on her feet again. “Um, thanks…” She glanced up at him and blinked rapidly when he was a bit closer than she’d anticipated. “You’re welcome, little lady.” Siren hummed, just so he knew that she’d heard him before she realised that they were still essentially holding hands. Once that information sunk in, she dropped his hands like they were on fire and went to step back away from him. Only to trip over her own feet once more - she was still not used to the size of these boots. She made a noise of distress and braced herself to hit the floor again, but it never happened because Party had grabbed her by the waist and pulled her against him. Instinctually, her hands went to grab onto whatever she could to support herself, which in this instance just happened to be his shoulders. She wasn’t sure if she imagined it but she could’ve sworn that as soon as she gripped his shoulders, he tightened his hold on her waist. She blinked up at him like she’d just woken up in a stark white BLI room. Their eyes met and Party noticed that hers widened very slightly - he honestly might not have noticed had they not been as physically close as they were. He wasn’t to know that she was taking in the few freckles he had over his nose, how unfairly long his eyelashes were and the exact colour of his eyes, which was only made warmer by the slowly flickering light the candles were bathing them in. “Huh,” Siren murmured, almost under her breath but not quite. “What?” Party kept his voice quieter than normal, there wasn’t really any need to do anything otherwise. Her cheeks went pink, having been caught out and she tried to think of something that wouldn’t be quite so embarrassing. She must’ve taken a little too long because she saw him quirk an eyebrow at her. “Um,” she started in an attempt to buy herself some more time but… Nope. “I was just thinking.” “About what?” He watched her eyes focus on part of his t-shirt. “You’ve got a few freckles,” she let go of one of his shoulders to trace where his freckles were but mirrored on her own face. The observation surprised him a little and he had to swallow before he could speak. “I do spend a lot of time out in the sun.” She smiled but it was softer than normal. “Ah, yes, true but also -” Party tilted his head as she seemed to cut herself off. “Also what?” “Oh… Um…” He watched her eyes focus on part of his t-shirt and he heard her sigh. “Well,” Siren decided that maybe a little of the truth wouldn’t hurt. “I was thinking that… That you look pretty good in this light.” The red-head blinked rapidly at this… Could you call it a confession? He swallowed again and wet his lips quickly before trying to think of something else to say. His silence seemed to make her nervous though because she looked everywhere but at him. And then the lights flickered back to life, killing the moment. “Thanks for catching me,” Siren smiled shyly as she moved back away from him. “I… No problem.” It looked like she was going to say something else for a moment but the bell above the front door of the diner chimed and the sounds of Jet and Ghoul… Disagreeing, loudly travelled through the building. Siren tucked her hair behind her ear before leaving the room to go and greet them, leaving Party watching her, slightly confused. He heard Ghoul greet her before he snuffed out the candles to go and join them.

Ahsoka and Y/N’s Sleepover
--
a/n: ok so i tried to make it like a headcanon but got super carried away 1.3 K words carried away so its more like an imagine with incomplete sentences oops hahhahaha
--
--
ahsoka and y/n are two very tired padawans
though they typically enjoy to ‘pull shit’ and commit the crime of ‘general shenanigans’
they just have no energy
so the two girls decide to have a sleepover
an energy reboost, if you will
ahsoka told anakin if he bothered her that she was going to send the picture of he and padme kissing to all of the gossip columns in naboo
yeah, that shut him up
y/n and ahsoka first went shopping in downtown coruscant
they bought face masks, nail polish, junk food, holofilms with cute boys, and magazines with even more cute shirtless boys
the last two were more of y/n’s idea
y/n insisted on paying for everything and even ended up purchasing matching silk pajamas for themselves
they were giddy with delight as they passed by random strangers on the street
“this will be the best night ever, sokie!”
adorning their arms were their shopping bags
the jedi eyed the two curiously as they walked down the halls
obi wan kenobi stopped them in their tracks
both looked at him in an accusatory manner
“what are you two doing?”
y/n and ahsoka shared a smile
“we’re just having fun, old man!”
“i told you to stop calling me that y/n-”
but the girls were already walking away, hand in hand
kenobi shook his head, sighing at the two padawans
what a handful
y/n and ahsoka often held hands
signaling their close friendship and everlasting bond
y/n was like ahsoka’s older sister, having been plo koon’s padawan
she served as a mentor to ahsoka
teaching her valuable things like
how to walk in heels
how to apply lipstick
but most importantly
how to be a boss ass bitch
the girls first decided to have a dance party
because what kind of sleepover doesn’t have music?
music blasted through y/n’s droid’s speakers
they attempted to show off their best dance moves
neither could dance that well
and y/n didn’t want to show her the club dance moves she did with the clones at the 79s
after about 20 minutes of obnoxious music, mace windu sends plo koon to y/n’s room
ahsoka and y/n were known for their shenanigans
plo koon was very concerned as to what the two were doing
so he respectfully knocked on the door
to find two very breathless and sweaty girls
“what are you two doing?”
plo koon saw bags lining the walls
they’ve been shopping
“we are having a sleepover master plo!”
“i’m glad you girls are having fun, but maybe turn down the music a little bit.”
ahsoka smiled up at their father figure
“sure!”
the door slammed shut in his face
he blinked a few times, then walked away
y/n turned off the music
“hey sokie, why don’t you bring your mattress in here? it would be so much better for when we watch holofilms and paint our nails.”
ahsoka dragged her mattress from her room, bringing it to y/n’s
they conjoined their mattresses, leaving one massive bed in the middle of the room
shortly after, the girls changed into their adorable silk pajamas
ahsoka’s were navy blue
y/n’s were (favorite color)
the design was adorable
the shorts were ruffled and low cut
with matching spaghetti strap camis
who cares what amount of skin they showed off?!
it was just the girls!
they decided to paint each others nails next
ahsoka painted y/n’s her favorite color, as requested
soon, y/n was putting the finishing touches on ahsoka’s french tips
the girls laid beside each other on the bed
chatting about whatever came to mind
“how’s that one boy you were smitten with?
“oh, lux? he’s out of the picture now.”
“hmm...let’s look at hot boys to cope with our feelings!”
“what about you and rex?”
caught
“um what about it?”
“i saw what i saw”
“you saw nothing”
“sucking each others faces off isn’t nothing-”
“shh sokie! look at all of these boys in here!”
and soon, the girls were taking quizzes in the useless tabloids
find out which jedi master you are!
which jedi is meant for you?
y/n started giggling after reading those headlines
“hey sokie, which jedi would you smash?”
ahsoka gaped at the girl in front of her
“are you serious?”
“dead serious. and don’t be a wimp about it.”
ahsoka considered the question carefully
“all of them are too fatherly”
y/n snorted
“well i think master kit would be fun!”
ahsoka couldn’t help but giggle
“you’re gross y/n!”
“which holofilm should we watch first?”
they decided on a horror movie
needless to say, that was a mistake
the girls ended up switching on all the lights
“do you think the clown will be in your bathroom?”
“no, ahsoka! besides, i will slice and dice that stanky ass with my lightsaber!”
they needed something to lighten their mood
facemasks!
the girls turned on music once again
but quieter
dancing around the room
eating all of their food
the girls spun each other around
dancing for what felt like hours
both flopped on the bed
chests rising up and down
giggling heartily
“y/n, you are like my big sister”
heart. melted.
“don’t make me cry, sokie! you are the best little sister i could ever ask for”
their heartfelt moment was interrupted by a series of vicious knocks at the door
y/n opened the door, revealing all of the 501st
ahsoka put her hand on her hip, judging the boys silently
“did you not see the sign?”
oh yeah, did i mention they made a sign in the midst of their sleepover?
in bold red words it said
NO BOYS ALLOWED
echo pouted at y/n
“ah, i hate when you make that kriffin face. come in.”
the clones walked inside the room
it was unexplored territory to them
jesse smirked at y/n “lovin’ the outfit”
“i will beat your ass”
“sure”
ahsoka giggled as tup’s face lit up
“i can have some cake?”
y/n smiled, nudging jesse towards his brothers “everyone can have some, as long as you all share”
their eyes lit up
ahsoka and y/n shared a wistful look
they knew the clones never truly experienced life
no childhood
no parents
no junkfood
just each other
y/n’s sorrow soon faded away as she watched hardcase moan in delight
“love at first bite?” ahsoka teased
“sweet maker, what is this stuff?”
“it’s junkfood, fives.”
“i want some!”
“sharing is caring!”
“leave some for everyone else!”
soon enough, the food was gone
they were all full to the brim
another holofilm played in the background
y/n and ahsoka noticed the boys pile together
they shared a look of confusion
until rex’s arm guided y/n into his chest
next thing they know, ahsoka and y/n were tangled into the mound of clones
ahsoka laughed
“you all sleep together?”
“when you say it like that it sounds weird. we used to do it all the time as kids.”
y/n was nuzzled between rex and jesse
“no funny ideas, jesse.”
a sleepy jesse rolls over to look at his captain
even in the moonlight his tattoo stuck out
“aye aye, captain.”
subconsciously, rex’s legs tangle with y/n’s
he plants his head in the nape of her neck
smelling her soft hair
grumbling sleepily from behind her
“g’night cyar’ika”

New Beginnings Ch. 2
Timothy Thatcher x OC
Ratings: PG-13
Warnings: None so far (will tag any triggers)
“Tim....you definitely look like a Tim Maya nodded as she looked at him “I’d say nice to meet you but I think it’s pretty clear it wasn’t that nice” she chuckled softly. Tim grinned and let out a soft laugh “It’s my fault, I was a jerk for no other reason than not wanting to be bothered”. She let out a soft sigh as she crossed her arms “is this suppose to be an apology ? Because typically an apology includes the words...I’m sorry ?”. Tim shook his head with a sly grin “I apologize for being rude, it wasn’t my intention nor did I ever mean to spill alcohol on you”. Maya laughed softly “a little forced out but I’ll take it......and thanks for the sweater, not exactly ideal to walk home in a beer drenched dress”. He looked up at her and raised his brow “walk home ? Alone ? At 1 am ? That’s rather dangerous”. She gave a surprised look as she turned and pointed to the lux apartments down the street “That’s where I live, literally a 3 minute walk, security can see me from here”. Of course, of course she lived in that swanky high rise apartment building, the one all his friends and he would drive by and dream of making it to live somewhere like that. How was it that someone like her could live in such a dream place like that yet be drinking at bar on a weekday ? “Um I hope I don’t sound like an absolute creep but would you mind if I walked you there ? Just to assure you get home safely ?” Tim asked softly “you can of course say no”.
Maya turned her head to hide the crimson blush shade that was growing across her cheeks and bit her lip nervously before turning back and nodding nonchalantly as she played it cool “no it’s fine, it’s fine. I’d very much like that”. Tim nodded and walked with her as he put his hands in his pockets “I hope this isn’t weird but...what do you do ?”. She chuckled as they walked “Aw man, my place gave it away didn’t it ? Well I’m a model. I do photoshoots for magazines, billboards, sometimes commercials. Things like that”. A model, Timothy Thatcher was walking a model home and the realization hit him like a ton of bricks. “I ask because this place is just so nice. It’s considered one of the best apartment buildings in the whole state and you well I won’t lie, you look....young”. Maya grinned and let out a laugh “I’ll take it as a compliment, and typically a woman does not disclose her age but because we’re becoming such amazing friends I can tell you, I’m 25”. Tim coughed as they walked, trying his best to not choke on his own spit because her age threw him off completely. She realized his strong coughing and stopped in her steps as she patted his back “Tim..breathe....are you okay ? Do I need to call someone ?”
“All good, all good. Just air you know” he coughed one last time as he straightened out his shirt. “How old are you....” she asked as they reached her apartment entrance. Tim looked around as he looked at her “the teeth don’t give it away ? What about my bad crows feet ?” Maya laughed loudly “You’re really bringing yourself down, that’s not a nice thing to do to yourself Tim. There’s nothing you can do about age so just tell me”. He chuckled at her response and smiled softly at her “I’m 38, just turned 38 last month.....I’m old I know”. She grinned and shrugged “that was the big age ? You made yourself out like you were about to tell me you were 60 or something. 38 isn’t old, I’ve heard your mid to late 30’s are where life finally starts to make sense and come together . I can’t wait till I get to that age”. Tim let out a laugh, perhaps one that was a bit too loud considering her slight jump at the loudness of it “You’re far too kind to me when you shouldn’t be, but thank you. I don’t see myself as old maybe seasoned is a better term”. She giggled as she covered her mouth “seasoned ? I like that, I like that lot. I’m adding that to my lingo”. Her giggle, he heard it and gave the widest smile he had given in a bit. He had just met her but somehow felt like she was someone he could hangout with and enjoy. Tim wasn’t one to ever ask a girl out right off the bat, he was as clean and proper as they came. “Always be a gentleman” his mother would tell him “you get to know a girl first then you ask her out”, but this once he was gonna listen to himself and his own thoughts rather than what he was told his entire life. “Um seeing as how it’s rather late and the night didn’t exactly go according to plan, would you like to meet me for coffee tomorrow-well technically later today ?” He asked as she he tried his best to sound at ease. “Sure” she answered back with a smile “here give me your phone so I can put in my number so you can text me”, she waited stifling laughter as she got handed a beat up flip phone “this is seriously your phone ? For real ? In modern times you’re using a flip phone from circa 2001 ?”
Tim laughed softly “I can make calls and can text, it’s all I need. It works and that’s all that matters”. Maya laughed softly and took it as she entered her number “as long as you respond and don’t ghost me” she nodded. Ghost ? What does ghost mean ?, Tim thought to himself as he simply nodded and put his phone in his pocket. “I’ll text you tomorrow”, he nodded “first thing I promise, I don’t break promises. She smiled softly as she leaned against her building door and offered her pinky “pinky promise to make it real”. Tim made a face as he looked at her hand and raised a brow as he imitated her hand gesture, blushing when he felt her pinky cross with his. “You said it yourself Tim, you don’t break promises so I expect a text first thing when I wake up. I’ll bring your hoodie tomorrow washed, have a good night” Maya smiled as she pushed in her PIN number and went up to her apartment leaving a blushing Tim standing alone in the sidewalk still blushing from their interaction. Maybe once, maybe just once he could learn to be easy going.

GROUP THREE - THE CAROUSEL. FAILED.
PLAYERS:
THE HEARTBREAK KID - Casey Russell. THE ARTIST - Sloane Salt. THE CLASSIC - Libby Logan.
EARNED PERKS:
- PUZZLERS: Talk about minds of freakin’ steel! As the only group to solve the puzzle in ONE guess, Casey Russell, and Sloane Salt have both earned themselves a chance to go back and fix it! If a choice happens to go wrong for them in a future event, they will be allowed ONE do-over. Use it wisely!
MEMORABLE MOMENTS:
- Casey fell on his face, and cost the group a time penalty on his run back from the Ferris Wheel. - The Gang only used one try in their puzzle, and succeeded! - Sloane dropped the second key, and failed to disarm the Candy Girl’s bomb. The carousel was destroyed in the blast. - As the one who dropped the key, Sloane was blamed for the destruction of the carousel, and arrested. On the bright side, she saved Libby and Casey from spending a night in jail... But this will come back to bite them all in-game.
When it was put there, he doesn’t know, but the note should be enough to make Casey’s heart skip. There, in the case of his instrument is a folded piece of paper. On its surface? A threat. “COME TO THE NEW CAROUSEL AT 7:30PM SHARP, OR YOUR SECRET IS MINE TO SPILL!” @caseyfm
When it was put there, she doesn’t know, but the note should be enough to make Sloane’s heart skip. There, hidden within her deck of tarot cards is a folded piece of paper. On its surface? A threat. “COME TO THE NEW CAROUSEL AT 7:30PM SHARP, OR YOUR SECRET IS MINE TO SPILL!” @saltofthcearth
When it was put there, she doesn’t know, but the note should be enough to make Libby’s heart skip. There, in her ride locker, is a folded piece of paper. On its surface? A threat. “COME TO THE NEW CAROUSEL AT 7:30PM SHARP, OR YOUR SECRET IS MINE TO SPILL!” @hellolibby
THE NARRATOR: Reunions were supposed to be pleasant occasions, weren’t they? They were supposed to bring feelings of joy, and nostalgia; you were supposed to forget the awkward haze that had plagued your years of high school, and… pretend like the good old days were actually just that. Good. Absence did make the heart grow fonder and all that, didn’t it?
Though, maybe it’s silly to wonder why this little reunion might not be so pleasant. The three of them - Casey, Libby, and Sloane - all walk up to the Carousel at the same time. They all meet each other’s eyes, and though nobody says it, everyone hears the same thought in their head. ‘Fuck.’
LIBBY: "So..." Libby's voice wavers dangerously - her hands shake, cast and all - but somehow she fights every urge she has within herself to run the other direction before chaos can unravel itself all around them. If the Candy Girl wanted them all here, then she doubted running away would be of much use. They were all trapped in Cherry… But this time, it wasn’t ‘small town syndrome’ keeping them back. "Probably safe to assume running into each other here isn't just a coincidence, right?"
SLOANE: There was an urge to reach out to the both of them and pull them in close that Sloane resisted, looking between Libby and Casey. So much for a lull in this Candy Girl's machinations, it seems a week was enough for her to plan something more. She swallowed thickly and then shook her head, folding her arms over her chest nervously. "Well, obviously I wouldn't be here if I didn't need to be." She motioned towards the Carousel. Talk about betraying her cause.
CASEY: Casey follows Sloane's gesture to the carousel. How did wooden horses somehow seem so menacing at night? It was thirty minutes before Mystic Cherry were due to perform and instead he was here about to do...? The sinking feeling in his gut tells him that this is going to lead to no good. "Yeah, this definitely isn't my idea of a warm up before a gig..." he mumbles, before his gaze falls on them both.
THE NARRATOR: There’s no clock to strike the time - nothing to let them know that 7:30-sharp has approached but the faint sound of Dean Hargrove’s voice in the distance is enough to let them know. They're all watching each other, but they can't help but flinch at the intrusion of the sound... And then, yet again ,when Hargrove is cut off by a voice that none of them quite recognize. They’re too far away to hear what the commotion is about, but somehow they know… Their night just took a turn for the worse.
It would have been impressive timing if it weren’t so fucking frightening, but at just that moment, their very own issue of the Cherry Bomb is dropped from the roof of the carousel, and onto it’s platform - near one of the old horses that looked a little too off-it’s-rocker. It’s clearly meant for them… It has to be. The only problem? The Gang is stuck, woefully, behind a locked fence.
There are a few ways to get to it, at least. They could always take their chances climbing the fence to get inside of the Carousel; it doesn’t look that high.
Casey knows the guys who work here… They’re always leaving things lying around. Maybe it might be best to look around for a lanyard someone might have dropped.
Then again, Libby has been treating the Boardwalk like a second home since she was just a kid, and she says there’s always another way in… Maybe they look for a hole in the fence?
MAKE A CHOICE: YOU MUST RETRIEVE THE CHERRY BOMB. DO YOU CLIMB THE GATE [SURVIVOR], LOOK FOR A LANYARD [PROBLEM SOLVING], OR LOOK FOR A HOLE IN THE FENCE [PERCEPTION]?
LIBBY: "Come on, guys, Casey's right. What are the odds that someone didn't drop their key? It's the boardwalk." It's easy to tell when Libby is determined to get something done. For the first time that day, she ties her hair up in a high ponytail - she crinkles her nose as she scans the area. She probably looked a little too much like a 60’s witch from her favorite sick day show - but, she can’t help herself. Libby always felt a little smarter when she was acting like somebody else. "Sloane - you look over by the hot dog cart. Case, you should probably take the space behind the ride, and I'll... Look everywhere else. I guess.
THE NARRATOR: It’s really a wonder the boardwalk even stays open, considering how careless some of the employees can be, but after a few minutes of searching for a stray key, our little slice of the gang finds their hands on one. They unlock the gate with ease and all pile in toward the Carousel; eager to get their hands on that ominous little magazine.
The cover of the Cherry Bomb is collaged with photos of Lux, the inside? Crime scene photos. There’s no pictures of her body, of course - that would be crude, even for the Candy Girl… kind of. But images of the blood soaked into her carpet; still pictures of her bedroom, flaunting a life once lived, those are there. A shot of her suicide note, ‘I’m sorry, I love you,’ and all.
And right there, in the middle of the spread, like a centerfold? A note, written in Sharpie - just for our ragtag little slice of the gang.
CANDY GIRL: GET OUT,,, GET OUT, WHEREVER YOU’RE LOCKED!!!! NOT A FAN OF SMALL SPACES?? I’LL STICK YOU IN A BOX. SOMEONE IS MISSING, BUT I WON’T SAY WHO… FIND THE KEY, AND FIND OUT WHO.
BUT WATCH OUT, WATCH OUT! YOU’RE ON THE CLOCK! LET IT RUN OUT, AND THEY’LL STAY IN THE BOX. WILL THE TIDE COME IN? HMM, MAYBE IT WON’T. OR BETTER YET? MAYBE YOUR FRIENDS WILL FLOAT.
YOU’RE NOT LOCKED IN, BUT IT’S STILL ON YOU! FIND THE KEY, OR THIS FRIEND DIES TOO.
THE NARRATOR: Oh...my. Now, that’s quite the predicament, isn’t it? I suppose we’re at least lucky that the Candy Girl leaves the rules simple, right? Find a key, and maybe she doesn’t kill one of your friends. Maybe.
MAKE A CHOICE: ONE OF YOUR FRIENDS HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED AND LOCKED AWAY IN A BOX. YOU MUST FIND THE KEY TO SAVE THEM. DO YOU LOOK FOR CLUES [PROBLEM SOLVING], OR SEARCH FOR A KEY WILDLY [LUCK - HIGH RISK, HIGH REWARD]?
SLOANE: Despite the rising heart rate that Sloane is sporting after looking through that shiny new issue of the Cherry Bomb and the revelation of this new note, she's standing tall, directing the other two. "Divide and conquer, like before. There have gotta be clues around here somewhere... she dropped this from the roof, maybe there's something else." Sloane's boots carry her around the perimeter of the Carousel as she searches for something, anything to give an indication of who is in the box and a way to find this damn key.
THE NARRATOR: Look for clues. Good idea, Sloane! They split up, but maybe it's better that way.
Libby stays focused on the sharpie scribbled riddle in the ‘zine while the other two search the operator’s booth up and down for something useful. Not so useful, but strange enough to take note of? A cherry red briefcase, shoved into one of the dusty, storage lockers. Not only that… but maybe there’s actually more to the note than they thought.
MAKE A CHOICE: YOU MUST FIGURE OUT THE PUZZLE. ADMIN EM IS HERE TO HELP, BUT MAYBE TRY THE WELCOME DESK TO START.
SLOANE: With shaky hands, Sloane reaches for the briefcase, after staring at the damn riddle for what felt like so long the words had ceased to make sense. She input their first attempt at cracking the code: 3142.
MAKE A CHOICE: SUCCESS!
THE NARRATOR: With the numbers all in the correct order, the briefcase pops open rather easily. They find a key, but along with it, our little gang sees a mess of wires, something that looks like a keyhole, a clock ticking down…. And a note.
CANDY GIRL: ANOTHER SURPRISE - AND THIS WILL BE FUN - I GOTTA GO, I GOTTA RUN! BUT BEFORE I DO, I PLANTED A BOMB! AND IT WILL BLOW UP WHEN THE TIMER SAYS ONE! SO, FIND A NEW KEY, TRY OUT THE LOCK! SEE IF YOU CAN DISARM IT - BEAT THE CLOCK! BUT IF YOU DON’T - AND YOU DON’T GO BOOM - THEN ENJOY THE INTERROGATION ROOM!
WHERE TO FIND THE KEY? THAT’S A DIFFERENT STORY. I’M TALL, AND I’M ROUND, AND I’M SLOW, AND I’M BORING! I’M FAR AWAY, SO YOU’LL HAVE TO SPRINT, BUT IF YOU’RE RIGHT, YOU WON’T TAKE THE HIT. YOUR SECOND OPTION? MERRY GO ROUND! CLIMB ALL THE WAY UP! OR SOMEONE WILL DROWN. THE KEY COULD BE THERE, THE KEY COULD BE NOT… OH, WELL, FIND OUT! OR MAYBE YOU’LL ROT.
THE NARRATOR: Well, the threat is clear. They must solve the riddle, get the second key, and disarm the bomb before the timer runs out… if they don’t, the whole thing might be coming down. And they might just go down with it.
CASEY: A bomb. They were now dealing with a bomb. The words barely have a chance to register in his mind before they're all scrambling to work out what the words on the paper mean and how to save their friend. With his heart still in his mouth, it barely feels like it has a moment to settle before he's spluttering out, "it has to be the ferris wheel, right?" Looking at both of his friends for their sign of agreement.
MAKE A CHOICE: YOU HAVE DECIDED TO GO TO THE FERRIS WHEEL. NOW YOU MUST DECIDE WHO SPRINTS THERE BEFORE THE TIMER RUNS OUT. [STRENGTH, FIGHTER, BRAVERY.]
CASEY: With the agreement of his friends - he's bolting off. Barely a thought running through his head other than the knowledge that he has to get to the ferris wheel before the timer ticks down to zero. Their friendship circle has suffered enough with Lux's death without adding in a casualty at the hands of Candy Girl. Scrambled together with the thought that he's lost enough family over the years, too. So, it's sheer brute force that gets him through the sprint, running like his own life depends on it because... well... it kinda does. With the ferris wheel in sight, he hopes he will make it in time.
THE NARRATOR: Heart racing, chest aching; adrenaline pulsing through his veins, but somehow he finds the key hanging from the Ferris’ Wheel’s gate like a prize less than two minutes later. With that in his hands, he just has to sprint all the way back to the carousel to save his friends.
It should be just as easy - it has to be - but maybe the pressure of getting back in time is getting to his head, because on the way back… Casey stumbles. It’s not it’s the wipeout of the century, but it certainly shaves some time off of that fucking timer in the briefcase. Not to mention some skin off of his face -- and is that blood dripping down his collar? Fuck.
MAKE A CHOICE: MODERATE SUCCESS. THE GANG HAS SUFFERED A TIME PENALTY DUE TO CASEY’S STUMBLE.
THE NARRATOR: They have the key, and now they just have to disarm that fucking bomb. It seems simple enough… But it would probably be better if whoever did it was calm. Or good at problem solving. Or just… Really, really, really good at surviving bleak situations. Any takers?
MAKE A CHOICE: SOMEONE HAS TO DISARM THE BOMB [CALM, PROBLEM-SOLVING, SURVIVOR.]
SLOANE: Sloane has dealt with many a crisis, but none so bad as this one, when lives are on the line and there's a god damn bomb in a briefcase like they're in a cheesy 80s action flick. Taking a deep breath, she takes the key from Casey, worried eyes having to fight to not focus in on his injury. They don't have time. They have to do this. "I can do it." She assures them both, steadying her hands and clenching her jaw as she lifts the key towards the keyhole steadily. "Fuck it." She mutters as she tries the one they've retrieved.
THE NARRATOR: Holy shit. Holy shit.
THE NARRATOR: I can believe this one is really happening.
THE NARRATOR: The three of them held their breath - Casey and Libby watched while Sloane went for the lock with only 30 seconds left on the timer… only to drop it.
It was the fumble of the century - the sound of the key falling into the hidden mechanisms of the carousel like a taunt - and as the clock counted down, they knew they only had one choice…
The three of them took off running as hard as they could - their lives depended on it, after all - and though it was a mighty effort, they didn’t make it far enough not to be blown off of their feet. They all land in a pile together; beaten, broken… And absolutely fucked when only minutes later, the Boardwalk Police come running.
They expect for handcuffs to be thrown onto the three of them, but as Dean Hargrove comes running up behind them, he instructs them only to arrest Sloane.
He had known Casey and Libby since they were both kids, after all. They were his son’s best friends. How was he supposed to believe that they had something to do with this over the Salt girl? Libby and Casey try to protest, but it’s no use. Sloane is going with them to the police station, and… that’s that.
MAKE A CHOICE: YOU HAVE FAILED YOUR EVENT, BUT AT LEAST YOU FOUND THE FIRST KEY. YOUR FRIEND HAS A CHANCE.

🔫 27-47 for lux/viktor whore
who leaves their stuff lying everywhere? Lux! She’s used to traveling light in comparison to people who don’t live from place to place so she’s not exactly good at being organized and keeping things in their place. She’s like ok whatever well I remember where it is and it drives Viktor up the wall who is a neat person.
what kind of stuff can be found around their place? Boxing trophies, cybernetic, car, and mechanic magazines, dirty clothes and towels on the floor of the bathroom, pictures of their friends, their shoes just kinda haphazardly kicked into the corner by the door, Lux’s mother’s old china (has a few chips in it but relatively in good condition), a car battery half taken apart on the kitchen table with a bunch of spare parts, vase of fake roses that never wilt, movie and old boxing fight posters. Everything is warm and mismatched and very homey.
what do their cupboards or shelves look like? Mismatching bowls and cups, not “messy” but definitely not organized. Like spoons mixed in with the forks in the drawers, bowls stacked not by size but just however they were washed. They’re not really We Have To Have Matching Plates kind of people.
what does their closet(s) look like? Viktor’s is relatively organized. Not Extra but everything has a place and is hung up. Lux’s side is of course very disheveled. She can never find anything and Viktor teases her like hmm I wonder why.
what do they do when they’re away from each other? Pine! Call each other on the holo every night, moon over each other. It doesn’t ruin their days though. They’re both pretty independent people and just go about their days as usual just missing the other.
do they have nicknames or pet names for each other? Viktor calls Lux baby, sweetheart, honey, and doll/dollface. Lux calls him baby, honey, and tiger. Also [redacted].
how do they refer to the other in public? how do other people refer to the other? (i.e. “my partner”, “ask your father”, ”dad and papa”, ”how’s your wife?”, etc) Pet names or just their regular names. Lux calls him Vik a lot when they’re around friends. I can see Vik saying my partner when they’re dating and Lux says my man (🤢) or my partner too. If they ever have kids they’re definitely just mom and dad!
who is more likely to pay for dinner? Viktor! He’s old fashioned and chivalrous at least when it comes to that. He wants to spoil his girl and treat her right. Dates for Lux when she was growing up were a lot different (going on four wheelers out in the badlands, drinking on cliffs at night, watching movies in the fam’s RV) and she really likes the dates he takes her on and how he treats her.
how often do they go on dates? They try to ever weekend!
typical date night? out or at home? Vik is bent on taking her to all the good restaurants in Night City. The hidden gems that Lux really loves. They’re a dinner and a movie kind of couple and they’re very sweet. They love date night.
do they celebrate birthdays, valentine’s day, anniversaries? Yes! Lux is kind of bad at it at first but she downloads a calendar and makes sure she gets alerts now.
what would they get each other for gifts? For Lux, a new car part or tool along with flowers and chocolates. For Viktor, front row tickets to a fight that’s coming to Night City (even though he says all of the professional fights are rigged and bullshit he still gets excited) or a new watch/piece of jewelry.
how do they spend christmas and new year’s (or equivalent family gatherings)? They usually spend it with Misty and whoever else of their friends are in town! They also do Christmas Eve dinner with the owner of the garage Lux works in because the two of them are close and her kiddos love Viktor. Lux refers to them as their “adult couple friends”. For New Years, they get nicely dressed and go to a bar with their friends!
who cusses more? They both are kind of at the same level - not dropping f-bombs on the regular like Johnny and Vera but Lux pulls ahead just a little bit for her propensity to use it more than Vik.
what would they do if the other one was hurt? Vik would try and insist he be the one to assist or help her. Which...is not the smartest if there’s a different option. He’s very nervous when he’s not around her/she’s out but he’s very soothing and always by her side when she awake and aware. He protects her feelings a lot by not looking as worried as he should be.
Lux is very openly distressed and has to constantly be by his side holding his hand. Wants to be there when he wakes up, wants to know everything that’s going on. Needs to know exactly what they’re doing to fix him and how it works because that eases her anxiety.
what are little gestures they do for each other? Vik makes Lux coffee in the morning for her since she hates mornings. Always kinda makes sure she’s tucked into her little blanket burrito at night and gives her a kiss on the temple. Wipes any grease/oil that’s on her face off.
Lux always brings him food when he’s working, makes sure he sleeps and takes care of himself. She likes washing his hair/him in the shower. Massages his bad hand idly when they’re watching TV or something, kisses the palm. Likes shaving his face for him.
do they know how the other takes their coffee/tea? Yes! Viktor used to bring her coffee in the mornings before his shop or the garage opened. Because he was into her and liked to talk to her but insisted it was because they were friends (which they were but still). Lux figures out a little while later when she returns the favor after a couple months of that. Asks him about it offhandedly and then shows up the next day to beat him at getting her coffee.
do they feel they see each other enough, or do they have activities that take too much of their time? I think they’ve struck up a nice balance! It’s important to them to have their own thing and aspirations, it really makes them attracted to each other and makes coming home to see each other all the more special!
do they friend/follow each other on facebook/tumblr/livejournal/skype/etc? Yes! Vik is always tagging her in old man loves his wife posts.
morning routine? Vik wakes up first, makes coffee and breakfast. The two eat breakfast together (mostly in silence because Lux is still trying to wake up lmao. Lux washes the dishes and checks her email while Vik takes a shower (sometimes she’ll join him but that makes them late). Lux will take a shower and they’ll get ready the rest of the wake together. Always! a kiss! before!! they leave each other!!
how do they make up after a fight? They’ll apologize and tell each other they love each other but won’t talk about it till the next day. That night they’ll do smth they both love to do together and then when everything else is kind of cooled down the next day they sit down and talk about it.

Synopsis:
Too bad that you couldn’t see
See the girl Crystal could be
There is more that meets the eye
I see the soul that is inside~
Based from Avril Lavigne’s Sk8ter Boi but with different twists.
Chapter Three - Under the Moonlight
Two vehicles parked along the edge on the hilltop, the overlooking view of the city below them painted their scenery. The lights from below lighted the small cliff, enabling them to have a little source of brightness under than the luminescence brought by the moonlight.
The two groups merged once more as Heidi blasted the music coming from the car’s radio louder for them to all hear. They all gathered by the pick-up truck, getting their red cups once again and cheering.
They were all partying by the back of the car when they realized one person was left inside the car, silently staring at her phone. Jackie went in and talked to Daegen silently which the others tried not to listen to.
It didn’t take a while before the pink-haired girl joined them, bumped her cup and downed her drink before screaming by the cliff, “Fuck all guys! They are all pieces of worthless shit!” She yelled at the top of her lungs which gained a few giggles from the girls before they all said “Yeah!” in agreement to her.
“You know, I don’t think I’m gonna be dating anyone in a long time. I’m going to focus on myself, love myself and all that.” Daegen said in a tone that seems to be trying to convince herself rather than being extremely sure about it.
“What happened back there anyway?” Jan asked as if reading the minds of the whole bunch. True, they were clueless to what took place and they all had no courage to ask during the car ride to the cliff.
Lux was the first to explain, assuming what she might have seen that moment from the party. “Well, Noah suddenly appeared in the party… and was dancing with another girl.” She looked at Daegen to confirm her statement which the pink-haired girl continued.
“Yeah, he told me he was going to rest for the night because he fried his brains out from the exams but…” She shrugged before taking another sip of her drink. “I saw him dancing with this girl from our PE class. She’s not even good at sports. What’s to like about her?”
Widow cleared her throat before she stood up in the middle of the two cars, bopping to the beat that was being played from the radio. “Forget about boys. Speaking of dancing, you should all join me here and dance along.”
Soon after, half of the group joined Widow while the rest stayed at the back of the car, watching their friends. Gigi was sitting at the edge of the truck, letting her feet dangle as she looked at the overlooking view in front of them. Crystal went to sit beside her, joining in her silence. She dug her hand inside her pocket and picked up another cigarette, lighting it up and taking a puff. The blonde just looked at her, tilting her head to the side as she observed the teenager.
Gigi was trying to pinpoint where she might have met her before. The sapphire waves coming down from her head, the silver nose ring, the black and silver earrings on her earlobes, the black blouse topped with a denim jacket, a short black skirt over a stripped black and white tights. They all looked like she have seen it before. The girl beside her looked like trouble, with her blue-hair being the accent against her black and white outfit. She appeared to be like someone Gigi would choose last when asked to pick partners in their PE classes but here she was sitting beside her by the cliff.
“What? Do you want some?” Crystal offered, handing her the roll of cigarette in her fingers. Gigi refused politely, offering her a small smile.
“I don’t smoke. Isn’t that bad for you? Plus you’re also drinking.”
“Well, Ms. Goode, thanks for your concern but I’ll be fine.”
“How did you know me? Do we have classes together?” The blonde tilted her head to the side as she glanced at the person beside her.
“The question is do I attend classes? Haha kidding. I think we used to have History back in second year. Now I’m not entirely sure. Maybe English or Literature?”
“Mhm.” The blonde hummed under her breath, playing with her cup that was placed on her lap. “Since when did you start smoking? Do you always have that with you? Is it like a thing for someone like you?
“What do you mean someone like me? Am I like an alien or something?” Crystal darted her eyes towards the blonde beside her, watching her laugh at her question. “What’s funny about it?”
“No no, I mean, like you. Uhm, people who skates and likes metal rock stuff.” The ballerina was fiddling with her cup, staring at the clear content inside it. She watched the ripples as it bounced against the wall of the container.
“Metal rock stuff? Me? It’s not a match. Wait, do you mean because I dress up like this I like dark stuff already? I mean it’s not offensive but woah with the stereotype.” The sapphire-haired girl placed her hand on her chest, her lips turning into an O-shape as she imitate a hurt gasp, making the girl beside her chuckle lightly.
“Oh my, I’m sorry. It’s just th-“
“Yeah, I know I look like someone who likes those kinds of stuff just because of the way I dress and what I do with my skateboard, but believe me, I’m not. Not that they are not good choices of music tho, it’s just not my style.” Gigi looked down again at her cup, frowning. “Hey, it’s fine. I’m not mad.”
“But I’m really sorry for assuming things. I-“
“I said it’s fine. Come on, chill.” Crystal nudged the girl beside her with her elbow. She took another inhale of her joint before she puffed it out. The other girl just glanced at her with a faint smile on her face before looking at the view in front of them once more. She adjusted her pink jacket wrapping around her shoulders, pulling it tighter closer to her body to feel warmth. Crystal couldn’t help but notice the shifting beside her. She scooted closer towards the blonde. “I have an extra jacket in the truck. Do you want me to get it for you?”
“Oh no need. You can use it later cause I think it’s gonna get colder soon.” The blonde responded as she swing her legs while looking at the horizon. The blue-haired girl jump down from the back of the truck and jogged to get her coat. As Crystal returned back to Gigi’s side, she put it over her shoulder and let her hands rest on them firmly but not too tight.
“I’ll get it from you later when I need it. You can use it for now.”
Meanwhile, in the makeshift dance floor, the bunch of girls were enjoying the time of their lives. They all cheered, dancing along to the songs in synchrony as if they were all part of a dance group. It was a Britney Spears song that everyone was familiar with. Their giggles and singing echoed the area as they had their little party.
Jan and Jackie paired with each other as they danced to the song. They grooved and swayed their hips to the song as they had a little chat over the loud music.
“You are good at dancing, Jan.” Jackie commented, watching as the other girl in front of her bopped to the beat of the song from the radio.
“Well, of course. I am part of the dance group, remember?” The short blonde took a swig of her drink which caused her to cough a bit as she felt the alcohol run through her throat. “Woah. This is strong. But anyway, you are not bad yourself. You have some good dance moves. You should join us, maybe. So we could get to hang out more!” Jackie shook her head at the suggestion as she took her hand and twirled her around, which made the two laugh.
“I don’t want to embarrass myself any further. Plus, I have the school magazine to focus on to. I like peaceful spaces more.”
“But it’ll be fun. Come on, I can teach you our dance routines some time.” Jan offered as she continued her mini dance.
“No, but thanks, really. I just like dancing here with all of you. Plus dance while drunk is much more fun.”
“Should I always give you drinks just to let loose? I think that would be really bad for you, we both know that.” Jackie took her hand again and spun her around.
“Oh no, I’m sorry.” A light-headed Jan accidentally stepped on the Persian girl’s foot, making her slightly wince in pain. She bent her knee and reached for her foot which Jan held as well, trying to caress it. “I’m really sorry, Ja-“
“Jackie, my name’s Jackie.” The brunette offered her a kind smile as they both tried to sooth the pain on her foot.
“Wait, let me get something cold. Just stay there.” Jan looked around as she tried to locate the pick-up truck with her blurry vision, which was behind Jackie. She hurried towards the car only to bump against Jackie once again. “Oops, I did it again.”
That made the brunette roll her eyes with the joke she tried to share, letting out soft chuckles. “I think it would be best if I go with you. Who knows how many feet you’re going to bump with and step on your way to the car.”
“Hi Lux. Are you having fun?” Jan noticed Gigi approaching them who was gently swaying her hips as she danced along the music. She met eyes with Jackie who shook her head at the statement of the tipsy girl.
“She surely is drunk. It was Gigi, Jan.” Jackie led the way towards Widow’s car, settling Jan inside before she went to get a cold drink for her feet.
Gigi found Widow and Heidi on their makeshift dance floor as she felt the alcohol kicking in to her system. It helped her loosen up, allowing her to enjoy the music and bop along with her friends even with the company of people she just met. She lifted her arms into the air, feeling the melody flowing through her veins.
Back at the truck, Daya was hanging out with Crystal, the two of them standing and leaning at the roof of the car, watching their friends in their dancefloor. They silently stood by each other, passing the cigarette as they let the other enjoy the winter breeze paired with their joint.
“That Gigi doesn’t seem to be that quiet, hm?” Crystal broke the silence, turning to Daya as she pass the cig to her.
“Is she not? Oh yeah, I saw you two talking earlier. In all fairness, you made her laugh. I thought she’ll be a tough cookie to break even though she seem really soft.” The taller girl commented as she poured some drink onto Crystal’s cup. Daya then followed where the other was looking at before laying her eyes on the girl beside her, letting out a soft sigh.
“She’s quite something…” The smaller one trailed off as she locked her eyes on the ballerina, watching her dance with the bunch of girls. Her hair was flawlessly bouncing against her shoulders as she jumped around to the beat, her giggles echoing onto their small spot by the cliff. Crystal noticed the moonlight reflecting on her as if her skin was glistening under the moon’s touch.
Present Day, 2020.
The group were all at their large table by the stage, waiting for the program to officially start. They knew they had come earlier than the time but they did that as to have a longer time to be with their girlfriends as well as to update each other with their current lives. It had been some years since they all came together in one place. They were always incomplete for the past years that they had gathered. Sometimes it would be Lux, Daegen, Daya, and Crystal when they all went to visit Crystal and Lux in California. Sometimes it would be Daegen, Jackie, Jan, and Gigi in the East Coast to watch a musical. There was also a year when they almost were complete. It was during a tour Gigi and her dance company did back in their hometown. Everyone was available that weekend except for Crystal who was having her hell week for her finals in her art degree.
That reunion party was the first time after years that they were complete. Surely, they missed each other. They were all in relief as they all didn’t lose touch of each other especially with the growth of social media back in their college days which made it easier for the group to keep in touch. It also made them be as close as they used to be back in high school. It was as if they were never apart. At least for most of them.
“I’ll be right back. The band is calling me, I think there’s something wrong with the instruments. Later.” The dark-haired vocalist bid a short goodbye to her girlfriends as she walked back to the side of the stage and approaching her bandmates.
“So Lux, how has it been with you? I heard you started your own small boutique. When we go to San Francisco maybe we can all visit your store.” Jan mentioned as she picked up a piece of nacho chip and shoved it in her mouth, turning to look at the small blonde girl across the table.
“Business is going great, really. Lately, people have been fond of the vintage dresses that I make. They were asking if I also do customized pieces.”
“Do you also do wedding dress, Lux?” Heidi asked from one side of the table, smiling from ear to ear as she shifted her eyes around the table. Eyes darted back on her in confusion. “What? I’m just asking.”
“Is it for a movie? Wow, I thought you have a lot of costume designers already. That would be a pleasure to work in your movie tho. But I don’t make wedding dresses. I can give you some of my friends’ number from college.” Lux took her phone from her small purple bag as she looked for her friends’ contact information.
“Something is fishy here…” Widow shot a look towards the actress as she playfully looked around while whistling. “Hey, don’t tell us…”
Heidi then showed a flashing diamond ring that she wore on her left hand which surprised the whole table. It earned loud squeals and cheers from her girlfriends as they ran towards her. “Oh my gosh, Di, I didn’t know you are getting married!”
“We are so happy for you!”
“Congratulations!” A few of the people around their table looked at their direction since their noise were getting louder but the group didn’t mind. They are used to all the stares they get when they are all having fun.
“Wait, does the media know already? I’m pretty sure I follow all news about you. How come this didn’t come out yet?” Daegen said as she wrapped her arms around Heidi excitedly.
“Well well well, I made sure you all are the first ones to know. He proposed just this last week for our 11th anniversary. Can you believe it? I’m getting hitched!”
“Oh gosh, finally. It’s about time, don’t you think?” The group chuckled at Widow’s statement.
Out of nowhere, Jan burst into fits of laughter, covering her mouth as she tried to silenced herself but to no avail. The whole table looked at her in confusion as she continued laughing on her own. “Wait wait, hahahaha. I’m sorry. I just… hahahaha…remembered something.”
“It better be worth the laugh or you have to find your new table, Janette.” Daegen threw a table napkin towards her direction but it landed on Widow’s plate. This made the blonde laugh some more. Jackie had to offer her a glass of water to help her calm down.
“Okay, so here it goes. I suddenly remembered this thing back in high school. I am not sure if we were friends already but it did happen during dance rehearsals and the table napkin is so funny as if it read my mind because it was a story about Widow.” The taller girl shot daggers through her eyes towards Jan’s direction, murmuring “don’t you dare.”
“I love you, Widow.” Jan mouthed back before continuing with her story. “Alright, so dance rehearsals. We were all there, of course practicing and then suddenly, we heard a very loud ‘WHERE IS MY GODDAMN PHONE’ from the front of the stage. We were about to have a run-through of our routine but her phone was “missing”.” She did some air quotes with her fingers.
Gigi, who was on her phone, started giggling as well as she remembered the story Jan was referring to. “Widow just got mad at us and we have no idea why because we were all on our own groups stretching and warming up for the rehearsals.”
“Then Widow said, ‘I swear, if you all don’t bring out my phone right now, y’all have to stay here and do ten extra laps around the auditorium. ‘ We all looked at each other, then Heidi started laughing. I swear I thought my cheeks were burning that time because I was so scared for her.” Jan reached out her hand and placed it above Heidi’s who gently caressed it back. “We were all trying to stop Heidi from laughing until she pointed to the metal box Widow was holding back then. I swear she was so scary but it was so funny watching her get mad at us for that.”
The whole table started to burst into loud cackles as they listened to what Jan shared to them. They didn’t even notice Gigi excusing herself as she half-ran towards the exit with her phone in her hand, hurrying towards a much quieter place.
She reached the outside of the building, standing beside a small tree as she answered the call from someone. She talked for a few minutes before she turned back aiming for the door until a figure at the corner of her eyes caught her attention. She was wearing sparkly silver jacket and some tight leather pants, paired with black boots which was hard to miss. In the middle of her finger was a thin stick of cigarette, its smoke fuming into the air. Gigi was supposed to ignore it and go back to her friends when she heard, “Hey.”
She was stopped on her tracks, her mind wandering aimlessly as she looked down at her phone. She inhaled a deep breath, fixing the strands of hair falling onto her face, before glancing to the direction of the voice. “Oh hi.”
“I just came out to get some fresh air. Are they all having fun inside? Uhm, do you want some?” Crystal offered her a stick which Gigi politely refused.
“You know I don’t smoke.” Gigi glided towards where Crystal was, leaning her side against a column.
“Oh yeah, Ms. Goode. I remember that.” The smaller girl exhaled a chuckle as she shook her head before taking a puff of her stick.
“I thought you stopped.” It came out more like a statement rather than question as Gigi focused her eyes on her shoe, her right foot rocking back and forth as she waited for a reply.
“There are just some things that are harder to quit.”
Silence enveloped the atmosphere as they both slowly realize what Crystal’s words meant. It had been a really long time, years even, since they have been left alone with just each other’s company. The first time they met were similar to their situation now, awkward, back in the first party they attended together but things quickly changed between the two. They grew close together, comfortable with each other’s’ presence. They were friends, to say the least, always looking out for each other, searching for one another when times of need. However, they seemed to be back to square one.
They both were caught off guard when they heard some footsteps towards their spot. Crystal then felt a pair of long arms hovering over her shoulder, wrapping her into a back hug. “There you are. I’ve been looking all over for you. We’re about to start performing again. You should go back inside,” said the person behind her.

IT’S TIME TO SPEAK UP!
The announcement of Samsung’s new project has been spread to the public, and everybody is invited to participate in its grand start event!
On the weekend of May 29th to May 31st, anyone interested in the arts is invited to the project opening event location for a guaranteed educational and fun time. Experts and celebrities have donated their time to offer classes and lectures on important aspects of the arts and entertainment world. To help the Speak Up! Project prosper, the entry fees will be clothes and toys that are in good state but that you do not need anymore. You must donate a different thing each day to attend the event.
Starting at noon on the 29th, people will be free to roam around the area and visit the different stalls while they wait for their classes to start. The different stalls offer delicious foods from local businesses, as well as content from smaller artists who’ll sell their pieces for a fair price. Not only does Samsung wish to help those in need, but the event will help spread the word of aspiring artists who still haven’t managed to find their place under the spotlight.
Anyone who wishes to attend classes other than just appreciate the free-to-roam event area must sign-up beforehand on the official Speak Up! Project website. All information on the different lessons and the singing-up option will be available IC starting on May 3rd.
For each day, a different and very diverse roster of activities will be available for you to participate in. This also means that some classes will have times that overlap. You cannot attend more than one class at the same time. A list of every class available can be seen below the cut and, for easier visuals to some, they have also all been organized on this spreadsheet.
If you’d like to participate in this event, you’ll have to submit a sign-up form to the rkevent inbox telling which activities your muse will partake on. The form is only a base, and you may edit it to fit more activities or less, depending on your preference. Your muse does not need to go to the event every single day. A list will can be found here with the names of which muse will be attending which class, so there is no need to post this form to your blog. There is no deadline to submit this form, and any new muses accepted through the duration of this event may join.

This means you’ll have to complete two requirements (a solo or a thread) per day your muse will attend the event. Portfolio of Recovery Part 3
If you’ve been following my entries, you’ll know that I recently had to go through some medical treatment. I am at a point now where I am willing to share some of the products of the art therapy that went along with that process. With each piece I’ll explain the prompt or the intention behind it and how I interpret the visual cues.
Please note that I will be talking about eating disorder behaviors, body image, and trauma. I use vague terms, but if these are triggering topics, then do not read. If you are in need of help with an ED, NEDA can get you support.
“Living Room Table” (2020). Poster-board, string, sequins, ripped magazine, yarn, tissue paper, glue, and oil pastel. Prompted.
“What is creativity?”
I usually take a while to wrap my head around prompts. But this one I went ‘I got this’ with zero hesitation. At the house I grew up in we had a low wood table in the living room. It was where we had to do any and all crafts in the house because that was a way to contain the chaos that was my sister and I. We left our marks on that table: glitter, yarn, burn marks. This is that table. This is where creativity happened.
“Untitled” (2020). Ripped magazine, glue, on canvas board. Prompted.
“Make a rip collage.”
I decided to try a different type of collage by weaving the pieces together. I think it worked.
“Shell study” (2019). Watercolor and crayon on paper. Prompted.
“Choose an object from the basket and create something from being mindful of your interaction with it.”
I chose a shell and spent 40 minutes trying to recreate the coloring on the inner lip.
“Strong Enough” (2019). Colored pencil on paper. Unprompted.
I was told by the art therapist that I should try experimenting outside of my usual style (Which you can see the first sketches of still). So I tried a more figural style. The title references the lyrics from “Eight” by Sleeping At Last; I was just a kid who grew up strong enough to pick this armor up and suddenly it fit. It resonated with me because that was what my childhood felt like. I tried to represent that with the figures surrounding the hollow form that is me in the present. Like the Timeline, the colors correspond to emotional stages. Blue is hopeful as an open sky, elementary school. Grey seeped into my chest as I start building up armor to protect myself from that hurt. Green is middle school when I started using clothing to make myself pretty. I thought that if I was pretty then the bullying and torment would stop. Given that this figure is crying, clearly that wasn’t the case. Red is anger, and I used lacrosse as a way to make myself more intimidating, tell of a target, less vulnerable. But I wasn’t confident at all, that’s why the posture is closed off, hesitant. Finally is the stage where my ED was in full control. It was the armor I was conditioned into believing would help, would make me perfect, better. But it was just protecting the trauma, not healing it.
I’m all in, arms out. I’m at your mercy now and I’m ready to begin. Show me how to lay my soul down long enough to let you IN. is another (misquoted) lyric from “Eight” and is representative of the present moment. I am deconstructing all the armors I’ve put on and get better.
“Promises” & “Reality” (2020). Oil pastel on canvas board. Prompted.
“What did your ED promise you and What did it actually give you?”
I was that girl in health class that thought ‘That would never be me’ when it came to an eating disorder. Well...I was wrong. Ana (what I call my ED) is deceptively kind. She lures you in with promises of control and exceptionalism. ‘If you can control your hunger then you are better than other people’ and other promises just like it. I thought if I was thinner that I would be prettier and it would be easier to like myself. Ana promised a brighter future, she promised fulfillment.
Ana lies. I became a ghost of myself. Frail. Weak. Breaking down. The white figure is my own body collapsing; arms thrown forward in submission, hair covering my face. I had nothing more to give other than tears and sadness. i was still alone. I was still hurting. On top of the emotional distress was physical distress. My body was, essentially, eating itself to survive. I had headaches that lasted for days, dizzy spells that left me on the floor (see the radiating red halo), a body that had one foot in the grave (which I represent with the brown-black background).
“Shattered Glass” (2020). Tissue paper, oil pastel, and pencil on paper. Unprompted.
I often feel like I’m nothing but pieces of jagged glass. Broken. Sharp edges. There is still color and beauty in that. It’s how we make stained glass and mosaics after all. But I also carry a lot of hurt and trauma to get that way. I went with the obvious Atlas metaphor. Braids being pulled. Tears. People constantly watching. People constantly leaving, again and again. Being shunned for things out of my control. Struggles with faith. Bearing the name ‘Bitter Little Bird’. I’m learning how to lay those burdens to rest. It is a process.
“Outline Self Portrait” (2020). Colored pencil on paper. Prompted.
We were given the outline of a person and told to fill it in how we wanted about body image.
The colors are familiar by now. Purple for justice and hope. Orange for creativity. Red for anger. Blue and Green for growth. My head is always a mess of all these feelings, that’s why it looks like that. the stronger lines indicate where I feel the emotions. It’s usually a tightness or an ache.
I remember being that kid - who was small. Who wanted to run before I could crawl. That changed with the start of an education in Shame. It started with my name. I was always caught between being seen and hiding Away. Maybe it was just easier to be nothing than to be something wrong. I was just a kid who had to wear this Armor too long. So I kept these shattered pieces inside a thick skin. It can tear me up inside but, no, I wont let you In. I’ll keep these bits of broken Hopes Inside of this chaotic body. I’ll rage inside my Skull if this is the way to cope. I sill sing the songs when I am ready to be. And shine myself not for you to see. This Lux Aurora in lead lines.
“Untitled 1″ (2020). Colored pencil and pencil on paper. Unprompted.
I tried to reduce myself down to schematic pieces. Red lines to convey gestural forms, blue ribs. This was me when Ana was in control. I was blind. I was hollow. I was barely able to feel my heart beat. Most of all, I was exposed.
I added the lyrics of Words Fail from Dear Evan Hansen because they felt like they fit. “'Cause if I just believe/ Then I don't have to see what's really there/ Yes, I'd rather pretend I'm something better than these broken parts/ Pretend I'm something other than this mess that I am/ Because then no one gets to look at it/ And I don't have to look at it”
“Untitled 2″ (2020). Colored pencil and pencil on paper. Unprompted.
The pieces are a diptych. This side is recovery. The stance is open, embracing. But the back is turned; rejecting Ana. I used the same colors but attributed them to new facets. Instead of being blind I am now covered. My hair is growing again. The fundamental building blocks are still there, but I am no longer standing rigidly. I wanted to mirror Rebecca Belmore’s sister.
The poem “Ascending” is my own creation. “With arms outstretched/ Wide like wings, like a martyr/ I will fly beyond the confines of/ my Nature./ I can touch eternity with my fingertips”

⁂ How Do You Love? (Tenipuri) o3
📑 Table of Contents | ◂ Previous
━━━━━━༻🌧️༺━━━━━━
I slid out of the cab and stared up at the Echizen residence. Kenko went to grab the bags from the trunk while Ryoma went straight through the gate and up to the front door. Wanting to hurry up and get back to sleep, I imagine. I heard the trunk lid slam shut followed by the sound of the engine fading away into the quiet night.
Kenko bumped my shoulder with his own. “You okay?”
I shrugged, grabbing my bag from his hand. “You’re staying the night, right?”
“Of course! I love Rinko-san’s cooking~”
I rolled my eyes as I pushed the gate open. “Gee, don’t I feel special.”
“Don’t act like you’re offended.”
Rinko greeted us at the door. She smiled brightly, pulling me into a tight embrace. “Welcome home, Lux.”
“Thanks,” I muttered softly, patting her back awkwardly with my free hand. I’ve never been big on hugs, but I didn’t want to be mean to the woman that practically raised me. She’s always been so kind, the least I can do is return that.
She pulled away. “I’m sure you’re tired. Go on up to bed and we’ll talk tomorrow, okay?”
Without a word, we headed up the stairs to my bedroom. Nothing had been touched like I was expecting – that damn old man loved to go through my shit. Doing his ‘fatherly duty’, he claims, but we both know damn well that he’s looking for blackmail material. Not that he’s gonna find anything – I’d never leave something behind that could be used against me.
I fell face-first onto the sheets, ice-cold due to the air conditioner. I could feel Kenko crawl over me to lay with his back against the wall. When I opened my eyes, I was met with a pair of pale feet. I scowled, flicking the top of his foot.
“Throw me a pillow, please~ … ouch!”
He got what he asked for – I did in fact throw him a pillow. Not my fault it hit him in the face. “Why can’t you sleep on the floor, huh?”
“Because it’s not comfortable, obviously.”
“This bed’s too small, damn it,” I muttered, turning over to face away from the wall. “If you kick me, you die.”
“Yes, yes~ Good night, Lux.”
“Night, Kenko.”
━━━━━━༻🌧️༺━━━━━━
“Luxray-chan~ Wake u~p!”
My first flew out from under the covers, making contact with a face. A yelp soon followed. I sat up, glaring at him through half-lidded eyes. “Asshole, I told you to stop calling me that!”
“How can you be so violent as soon as you wake up?” Kenko rubbed his bright red cheek. “You wouldn’t wake up and it’s almost eleven o’clock. The day is wasting away~”
I scoffed, wanting nothing more than to go back to sleep – I was seriously jet-lagged. I knew there was a very slim chance of that happening, though, so I forced myself out of the bed. He followed me down the stairs, humming softly.
My cousin, Nanako, was at the sink washing dishes – most likely from the breakfast that we missed. Well, Kenko probably ate, anyway. Rinko was nowhere to be found – probably out shopping or got called into work. The old man was lying down on the porch, flipping through one of his dirty magazines.
I approached him, kneeling down behind him. “You never change, old man.”
He grinned over his shoulder. “Welcome home, kid.”
“U-Uncle!” Nanako cried, rushing over to us. “How can you read that smut in front of your daughter?”
He shrugged, turning back to his magazine. “Lux doesn’t care, ne?”
“Why would I?” I shrugged, heading over to grab a piece of bacon off the table. “Doesn’t affect me. He can do whatever he wants. Besides, he even asked me to bring some playboy home from the states. I forgot, by the way.”
He frowned. “I figured.”
“Don’t encourage him, Lux!”
I rolled my eyes. Honestly, why is she constantly worried so much about what the old man does? How annoying. “Is Ryoma still sleeping?”
“He left thirty minutes ago,” Oyaji answered as he stood up, shoving the magazine into his robe before Nanako could grab it. He sat down beside me and grabbed the last piece of bacon from Kenko’s hand.
“Where’d he go?”
“Kakinokizaka junior tennis tournament.”
“What would you like to eat?” Nanako questioned with a smile. “Wait, Lux – !”
I ignored her calls, slipping on my boots before rushing out the door. That brat, why didn’t he say anything about it? He’s so fucking cheeky, it’s easy for him to make enemies. So many people tried to attack him back in the states – would Japan be the same way? Rushed footsteps headed toward me and Kenko threw his arm around my shoulder to stop me from moving forward.
“Do you even know where the tennis gardens are?” He raised a brow, fighting back a smile when I scowled at him.
“I would’ve found it.”
“Before or after he finds trouble?”
“…”
He chuckled, moving his arm to wrap around my own as we continued on in the same direction. “Well, it’s good to see your instincts are still on point – you were going in the right direction.”
“Don’t doubt me, Kenko.”
“I would never~”
━━━━━━༻🌧️༺━━━━━━
“Where the hell is that kid?” I muttered, shoving my hands into my pockets. We had been searching this damned place for about thirty-five minutes without any sign of him.
“Maybe he finished his match and went home.” Kenko reasoned.
“Ryoma-kun!” A female voice reached my ears and I took off in the direction it came from. We were lead to one of the nearby courts.
Ryoma was on his hands and knees with a girl kneeling beside him. When I got closer, I noticed his hand covering his face, and… is that blood?
I felt anger boiling in my veins as my narrowed eyes snapped to the guy on the other side of the court. “You mother fucker!”
Kenko grabbed me around my neck and waist, the heels of his feet digging into the ground from the effort it took to hold me back. “You can’t kill someone on your first day back in Japan! At least wait a week!”
“Screw that! He hurt Ryoma!”
“Don’t come onto the court during a game.” Ryoma scolded, pushing the girl away. He stood up, revealing a small cut on the center of his forehead. Blood was dripping down his nose. “Your grip is weak. Mada mada dane.”
I struggled against Kenko’s grip, turning toward my baby brother. “Kick his ass, Ryo!”
The match resumed but the white-haired idiot never loosened his grip on me. Ryoma jumped into the air and hit the kid with his twist serve, nearly smacking him in the face with the ball.
“Hey grandma, didn’t that ball spin the other way?”
I glanced over toward the voice and saw the girl standing beside an older woman. That woman looks really familiar, but I don’t have time to dwell on that thought. Ryoma served again and, this time, the ball smacked the kid right in the face, sending him to his hands and knees.
“That’s my boy!”
“You shouldn’t encourage violence among kids, Lux-chan~”
Another twist serve.
Another hit to the face.
“Go to hell!” I growled at him. Ryoma hit a normal serve but the boy screamed in fear and fell into the fetal position. “Stupid,”
“Game and set. Won by Echizen.”
I rushed over to him, dragging Kenko with me – since he still hadn’t let me go. I whipped his hat off and grabbed his chin to force him to look up at me. I inspected the wound and was relieved to find that it was just a scratch. It had stopped bleeding, as well. I ruffled his hair before giving his hat back. “I’m proud of you, kiddo.”
“Fool. I wasn’t playing seriously.” The boy stood up and smirked. “I can beat you if there was one more set!”
“Sasabe, just stop… just admit that you lost…”
“You think you’re so tough. I’ll show you tough, you son of a – ” I was stopped by Ryoma this time, his hand wrapped tight around my wrist.
He moved to stand in front of me. “It’s fine with me if you want to play one more set.” He switched the racket to his dominant hand and I smirked.
“Don’t you get it? You stubborn fool…” The old woman spoke up, crossing her arms over her chest and grinning. “You can’t beat Echizen Ryoma no matter how many times you try.”
I raised my brow as I looked at her. She seemed pretty knowledgeable about my brother. It’s not so much of a surprise – he’s hella accomplished in the tennis world, especially for being so young. Still, it felt like she knew something else.
“What are you talking about?” Sasabe demanded.
I stepped off the court as Ryoma got into position to serve. I sent the bastard a grin. “He’s left-handed, dumbass!”
Ryoma’s serve was twice as powerful, slamming against the court between the kid’s legs hard enough to leave a mark.
Sasabe fell straight onto his ass. “I quit!” He cried before running away with his tail tucked between his legs.
“What a pussy.” I scoffed, folding my arms. “Will you let go already?”
He rested his chin on my shoulder. “Promise not to commit mass murder?”
“If you don’t let me go, you’ll be the first one I kill.”
He finally released me and I followed my brother as he put his racket away into his bag. I glanced at the older woman as we passed and got this strange sense of deja vu. Damn, why did she seem so familiar? It’s bugging the crap outta me.
I scowled, turning slightly toward her. “Oi, what’s your name?”
She looked at me in surprise before smiling kindly. That was not a smile that you give to a strange; it was too… familiar. “Ryuzaki Sumire.”
Even the name sounds familiar. My brow furrowed in thought.
“Nee-chan,” Ryoma called.
I decided to let it go, following after him. It probably wasn’t important anyway.
“What was that about?” Kenko questioned.
“Nothing. She just looked familiar.”
“Do you recognize her, Ryo-chan?”
“Nope.”
“Not important, then.” He shrugged. “How’d the tournament go?”
“I forfeited.”
“Why?” I scowled, glancing down at him.
He shrugged. “I was late for the match.”
I facepalmed. What the hell am I gonna do with this kid?
Echizen Ryoma, you will be the death of me.

Granite That Mesmerize your home
Each and every year, stone and tile trends change constantly in the architectural and design communities and can be difficult to keep up with. We at Contemporary Stone & Tile Design magazine wanted to get opinions from different architects and designers around the country to find out what they are seeing, and what they expect to see. Before getting into the trends they are seeing, let’s spend a little time getting to know those who are about to answer:
Lori Wiles— “I’m a true Midwesterner, born and raised in Missouri, now living in Iowa. Growing up, I spent lots of time in the working barns and classic farm houses in my rural area. My capable and creative mom gave me ample opportunity to draw, paint, sew and build things for fun. That led to a degree in interior design and a long career in the field. I’ve always been especially interested in interior architecture and how it impacts the people who use the spaces. My interior design firm specializes in planning new construction and re-modelling with the end user experience in mind.”
Ryan Thewes— “I grew up in Southern Indiana and graduated from Ball State University. After graduation, I was fortunate to get a job in Chicago, IL, working for a former Frank Lloyd Wright apprentice –
Don Erickson. The incredible experience of working for Don introduced me to the theories of Wright’s organic architecture which, amon
g many other things, focused on the use of natural materials and the creation of space. I expanded on my education of organic
architecture by also working for Robert Green, a former Frank Lloyd Wright apprentice in Atlanta, GA, and eventually an apprenticeship with Bart Prince in Albuquerque, NM. I am currently practicing out of Nashville, TN.”
Maxim Nasab— “I am the principal and founder of Apexx Architecture, a firm specializing in bridge architecture and recreational piers. Our firm is located in Tallahassee, FL. I am originally from Montréal, Canada. I got into architecture because it allowed me to pursue my love of science and technology, but also allowed my creativity to flourish. Architecture has the power to change cities for the better for generations. It is a profession that can truly make the world a better place and architects have the responsibility to ensure this through their designs.
I believe in designing for the people and the greater good rather than fame or recognition. I believe that great architecture is derived from honesty and transparency. Using local natural materials and allowing the structural system to express itself by integrating it within the design. Whenever I walked in buildings, and even today, I always tried to guess the materials that buildings were structurally supported by. It always made me a little sad when materials were not honest or true, or the structure was not evident. This is one reason why I went into bridge architecture. It is very hard to hide the structure of a bridge, and instead I always try to enhance its visibility, express its beauty and make it clear to the user as to how it is supported. Anyone should be able to walk in.”
Charmaine Wynter— “I am Jamaican Canadian, and an international multi-awarded interior designer with projects spanning the residential and hospitality sector. My natural design talent began to make its emergence in 1981, surprising family and friends, but it wasn’t until the late 1980s that I took it seriously and enrolled in an interior design program at a recognized college. I founded my design firm in Toronto, Canada in 1996; and later transitioned to the Dallas, TX, location in 2016, where it is now headquartered. Now many decades post-graduation, as principle designer, I jet back and forth to work projects of interest on both sides of the Canadian and U.S. boarders — infusing each with my signature distinctive luxurious living design aesthetics.”
Dawn D. Totty— “I started 25 years ago and it was fast and furious in New York. When I transitioned from there to the south, I was 1,000 miles away. I had to start from scratch. I had to reinvent myself. That was challenging.”
Trends with stone
One of the first things I discussed with each of our participants were the trends they were seeing with stone in particular. Over the years, the popularity of engineered stone has fluctuated, while natural stone seems to be extremely popular with some people rather than others. According to Wiles, she is seeing more people interested in using stone in their homes and offices than even a few years ago. “From my perspective, it’s become easier than ever to find the perfect material for any project with all of the stones available,” she said. “I particularly like the uniformly colored stones at the extremes of light and dark palettes. These make a great statement and give some confidence that a color palette can change through the years without having to change the large areas of stone.”
Wiles isn’t the only one that sees the popularity in natural stone. Thewes, Nasab and Wynter all agree with her. “What I have been seeing is a lot of natural materials, natural colors and natural tones,” said Nasab. “Limestone is really popular along with granites that have that limestone look. Minimalism and honesty in materials is coming back strong and will be here to stay for a while. Clients and users are craving that real feeling when they touch materials, which is why a lot of the companies are working hard to mimic that look and feel. Some of them are getting really close, too.”
Thewes is seeing a lot more requests for stone as the popularity of “Mid-Century Modern” design continues to rise. “I think part of this is because people still want modern design, but are turned off by the cold sterile nature of some of it,” he said. “The use of natural materials like wood and stone help soften the design yet allow us to keep a strong modern aesthetic. Linear stacked stone complements these types of projects perfectly by emphasizing the horizontal line and providing a defined texture that works well in opposition to smooth surfaces like wood, glass and drywall. Depending on the budget, we have had some pretty good success with engineered stone. However, for the more discerning client, it is tough to beat natural stone. While the wide range of colors are still often used and will never go out of style, we are seeing more of a request for darker colors. Almost black in some cases.”
Wynter is seeing popularity with quartz surfacing because of its look and durability. “Quartz is extremely popular with clients seeking a marble look, but the durability only provided by engineered stones,” said Wynter. “Stone is such a luxe material with its many faceted sheens and textures that there are trends within a trend. However, in general, I’m using more cool-toned hues with larger veining and fissure movement within the stone than a few years ago.”
Totty sees it not only with natural stone but also with quartz, because of how they look. “Patterns, movement and more color is making its way into the realm of interior design with the usage of quartz and marble being the forerunners,” said Totty. “Stone pigments that are currently trending are soft greens, grays and neutrals that are a wonderful complement to today’s interior design trends.”
When it comes to application of stone, according to Wynter, it is being more of the norm with her clients. “What’s great is that as the use of luxury stones are becoming more the norm, my clients are relaxing and spaces are more often taking on a casual luxe style,” said Wynter. “I’m using stone on the flooring, countertops and backsplashes, fireplace facades, accent walls and in outdoor living rooms.”
“While fireplaces continue to be the place that people think of using stone first, I like to incorporate stone in lots of areas in a home like kitchens and bathroom,” said Wiles. “In commercial settings, a stone wall or columns are a fairly easily constructed feature that suggests stability and permanence. I’ll consider using it in any area that I think needs a great visual weight to help balance out the space.”
For Thewes, he is seeing the most common use for stone is in accent walls for both residential and commercial projects. “The ability to light the walls really accentuates the texture and draws attention to the feature,” said Thewes. “This is very effective in commercial projects where traditionally, more sterile and simple materials are used. The stone offers a good break from these materials while also providing a durable and maintenance-free surface.”
For Nasab, he is seeing stone used primarily for exterior paving, stairs and plazas. “It really enhances the site and gives it that extra touch of beauty, especially when it’s a natural stone,” he said.
Totty is utilizing marble and granite in big ways, such as installing it onto kitchen walls for a bold and elegant statement. “Kitchen larders, countertops, backsplashes and even floors are some of my favorite uses for granite, quartz and marble,” said Totty. “Both commercial and residential projects are now implementing stone surfaces to create a regal look with the benefit of durability.”
Tile Design Trends
When it comes to designing with tile, it seems that the material is a lot like stone, especially for Totty. “Floor-to-ceiling tiled walls in kitchens and bathrooms, and even laundry rooms, are very popular,” she said. “In many cases, the tile is the dominating focal point to a room’s decor.”
According to Nasab, whose area of expertise is not tile, he has noticed that tiles have continued to evolve and currently they are still hitting strong with mimicking the look of natural stone.
One thing that stands out to Thewes with tiles are the extremes they go to with size. “Tile size trends have continued to swing away from the standard 12- x 12-inch tile to either extreme,” said Thewes. “Either very small or very large, depending on the application. For our projects, we still focus on the more earthy and muted colors that are more simple and less busy. Black and white are timeless and can be adapted to any style or aesthetic so they are always popular.
“There has been a pretty significant rise in the popularly of the wood plank tiles that gives the look of a wood floor, but the durability of tile,” Thewes went onto say. “I tend to shy away from materials that pretend to be something they are not, but I have seen a quite a few of these fake wood products that are very well done.”
Wiles has also noticed the different types and feels of tile that are currently on the market. “I continue to be amazed at how many tile designs there are and excited about the tactile finishes they have now,” said Wiles. “We’re seeing our client’s willingness to use a variety of shapes like hexagons, octagons and circles increase. They’re now open to shapes that would have been unheard of just a few years ago. It also seems that tile manufacturers have become really in tune with current color palettes and color palette projections, which helps designers use their products more easily.”
“Tiles are dimensional and showing up in large formats,” said Wynter. “Pattern is back after a long rest so we are embracing lace, ethnic and graphic print on wall and floor tile. Keep your eyes peeled for hues of green and coral — especially this year.”
As far as applications go, according to Wiles, “Beautifully tiled bathrooms are the number one request from homeowners so we’re designing fully tiled showers, tub surrounds and backsplashes. The development of the really large-scaled and textural tiles that mimic other materials makes feature walls a big hit as well.”
Wynter said that tile will always be the strongest in commercial applications due to its durability and resilient nature, but it is making strong headway into the residential arena as the popularity for outdoor backyard oasis’ increase. Totty agrees with Wynter in the outdoor use of tile. “Outdoor kitchens are now showcasing tiled areas for durability, as well as aesthetics,” said Totty. “Tile is still the first choice for most home and commercial installations, in particular, shower walls and floors, laundry and mud rooms, as well as entryways for low maintenance and easy clean-up.”
“For tile, floors are still the main use,” said Thewes. “Occasionally, we will see an accent wall or something similar executed, but mainly floors and shower surrounds are most popular.”
Trends moving forward
Finally, we asked these architects and designers about the trends moving forward for both stone and tile.
Totty– “Tile with graphic, bold patterns and colors are quite favorable and are being used as statement makers in powder rooms, kitchen floors and laundry rooms to create that ‘wow’ factor in interior design. Granite and marble with movement are now used as art. Matching up patterned seams and placed vertically on walls in high-end hotel lobbies creates an amazing show stopping affect to any wall.”
Wynter— “Green is coming on strong as a trend color that has made it to classic status, so I predict we will see green marbles, green granites in all hues from glass to jade, as of green slates.”
Nasab— “I believe that natural colors will stay for a while, especially in stone. It is hard to beat natural stone, especially now that it has become much more affordable. What I am seeing in tile is black and whites coming back. That modern minimalistic design is coming back strong. There is no better material than stone in terms of natural beauty and bang for the buck. I would encourage designers and clients to find local quarries and start from there rather than hit the foreign stones right off the bat. It really is a beautiful thing to use materials that are locally sourced and they truly make the projects feel as if they belong in the site they are built on.”
Thewes— “Looking into the future, I don’t really see much of a change for tile other than possibly an increase in use due to its durability. It’s a battle between what the client desires more, warmth or durability. However, I do think that the use of stone will continue to rise as it provides both warmth and durability. As the quality of engineered stone improves, costs should go down and using stone in projects will no longer be a major drain on budgets. Durability and low maintenance are always important client requests and this material fits right in with that while also providing a major increase in quality and design. The addition of stone to any project increases its value and the perception of cost.”
Wiles— “I think we will continue to see natural and natural-looking hard surface materials in demand. These will be used in larger areas and combined with other materials that have more of an artisan vibe to create really durable, tactile and friendly environments. Tile and stone are really designer’s friend. Once you know how to best use them and have great craftspeople to install them, they can transform any space.”
