I'm not cool! If you do feel like giving music recs, can I have one? (No pressure if you don't!)
On the contrary, you are very cool, and I will give you some recs, thanks for asking!
I don't know what you like, so I threw together an unnecessarily long list of some of my favorites, and you can take or leave whatever you like.
Be Careful! It's My Heart - Bing Crosby
Come Fly with Me - Frank Sinatra
'Deed I Do - Blossom Dearie
Dream - Pied Pipers
A Dreamer's Holiday - Buddy Clark
Far Away Places - Margaret Whiting

It's a Most Unusual Day - June Christy
It's Been a Long, Long Time - Harry James and His Orchestra (vocals by Kitty Kallen)
A Kiss to Build a Dream On - Louis Armstrong
Lullaby of Birdland - Ella Fitzgerald OR the version in French by the Blue Stars which has very different lyrics in translation!
My Dreams Are Getting Better All the Time - Les Brown Orchestra (vocals by Doris Day)
Sentimental Journey - Les Brown Orchestra (vocals by Doris Day)
Sunday, Monday or Always - Bing Crosby
That Sunday, That Summer - Nat King Cole

I'm in charge of cranberry sauce; this year I'm doing classic cranberry from scratch, with a bit of orange. My dad and grandmother have been baking for days; there are several kinds of sweets and cookies. There will be turkey and all the things that usually go with it, including the retro jello salad we make every year. One of the house guests brought an assortment of imported snacks for us.
I think I'm probably making some proper Indian-style chai at some point; it's not hard, but it's more labor-intensive than my usual tea-brewing style, so I don't generally make it unless I have someone to share it with.
Alright what’s everyone eating this weekend lay it on me Redwall-style
#oooh @lurkinglatinist that looks good#I love gingerbread but topping it with cranberry sauce sounds great#cooking#food

#anyone else I know doing this?#(other than magicofthepen and lurkinglatinist; y'all are the reason I actually know about it lol! X'D)#I've wanted to do a fanwork exchange for a little while but I've either missed the deadlines#or just felt like trying to add another thing on my plate was a bad idea when they were open#but I don't really have anything important happening for the rest of the year aside from work#so! I think this'll be fun and get me back into fandom stuff!! :D#(and it'll also force me to write which is something I need to do more of)#gurt says stuff#fandom#tardis festivities exchange#(is there already a tag or something for that over here?)

David Balfour was, I believe, my first Book Crush.
In general I did not get Book Crushes, but my fondness for David was something out of the ordinary. (This is hilariously on-brand for young teenage me.)
…was I the only Davie fangirl?
(if you too want to hang out with Alan Breck Stewart, join us at kidnappedweekly.substack.com! Starting June 20 but you can sign up now)
#kidnapped weekly#I mean Alan was cool too#but something in David's determination to Do the Right Thing and then his general inability to process moral dilemmas Spoke to me#anyway lurkinglatinist you're not alone#there are two of us!
