“hero’s shade in TOTG” what’s TOTG? 👀

Tomb of the Gods!!! It’s a fake Zelda game Ive been coming up with. If you check my “tomb of the gods” tag, there’s a bunch of art and lore and such :)))

The land of hyrule, divided into the sky, surface, and underground, has been at peace ever since the previous hero saved it long ago, before vanishing suddenly. But somethings wrong. Monsters are showing up, branches of the deku trees are breaking, and lake hylia, resting place of the physical body of goddess hylia, is becoming toxic. Link and Zelda have to work together to open the tomb of hylia, and figure out what’s wrong with it.

The Hero’s Shade in totg is not the same as the Hero’s Shade in Tp. Rather, the last hero, the one who disappeared, lost so much on his journey, that he became incredibly bitter with hylia. After doing research, he found that this was a pattern, and that he and Zelda have always just been pawns. This bitterness and hatred consumed him, turning him into the hero’s shade, a monstrous shadow of a former hero, kept alive only by hatred. This came to a head when it tainted the tomb of hylia, corrupting the lingering divine essence to create the Mass, a collective of faces stolen from those who were “favored” by hylia and suffered for it

It’s ultimate goal is to cause so much suffering and imbalance that the Three themselves are forced to return to hyrule, and then hopefully punish Hylia. It’s the final boss, and it can only scream in mindless rage. This rage is the only thing keeping it going, and it knows it. If it were to stop being angry, forgive, or be forgiven, it wouldn’t be able to keep living. It is an agonizing existence. I think it finds peace though, at the very end of it all.

Re: Zelda possessed by the spirit of hylia boss battle

I think the music for this fight wouldn’t be epic badass boss music that makes you feel cool, but instead like. Incredibly sad, like the music for pure vessel in hollow knight

“I wanna be a Hero some day!” The young Hylian boy sits up in bed excitedly, punching the air. “I’ll fight evil!”

“Well, it says here that Hyrule hasn’t had a Hero in several generations,” Lumi says, looking at the book. Her voice is a soft whisper as she eases her younger brother back under the covers. She begins dimming the lamplight.

Link pouts, but allows himself to be tucked in. “Why not?”

“Because we live in a time of peace. There are no wars to be fought. No evil to vanquish. The last Hero did a good job in his time, and now we get to be happy because of him,” she explains.

“Tell me about the last Hero?” Link pleads.

Lumi smiles fondly. “No, I need you to go to bed now.”

Link takes his little plush mole and shakes it at her. “Pleeeease? I promise I’ll go straight to sleep, you can even put out the lamp.”

Lumi sighs. “Okay.” She puts the lamp out. It would be pitch dark if not for the soft bioluminescent glow of the plant growing from her head.

Link scrunches up excitedly, ready to hear a story he’d already heard a hundred times.

“Let me tell you about the Vanished Hero.”

Meet Polly and Bree! They are not very important NPCs in TotG but I do love them. Polly runs Bits and Pieces, the general store in Kakariko. Bree is the talking bird. Polly is very sweet, and makes it her business to learn about the world, and will give Link advice. Throughout the game, she gets new articles of clothing, like Undergoggles, from the underground sector, and a scarf from the Sky. Bree is sarcastic and likes to insult link, but she likes him.

I’m also toying with the idea of Polly not speaking, and instead having Bree speak for her, but I’m not married to that idea

More Hero’s Shade stuff. Just. The Shade realizing in its last moments that there’s nothing left of it. It can have some Acceptance

I don’t really like my Link in like. The standard tunic, it just. doesn’t look right. I really want him to keep aspects of the Underground style clothing because it makes me sad that in TP you just like. Lose every aspect of Ordon village in you gear and outfit. Im definitely keeping his goggles. I tried putting him in green coveralls, but idk. I gotta workshop it still

Finally have a final boss idea for Tomb of the Gods

The Hero’s Shade: a former chosen hero of hylia, who, after spending much of their life serving her, and suffering for her, became consumed by their malice and resentment towards the goddess. Their hatred transformed them into the Hero’s Shade, a being of pure rage towards hylia as it tries to end everyone she “favors.”

Image 2: Upon learning the history of the heroes of the past, and THEIR trials and tribulations as Chosen Hero of Hylia, the Vanished Hero begins taking the faces of those who have been favored by her, or that serves her, in an attempt to remove pawns from her grasp. Eventually, they fought their way through the tomb of hylia, and managed to corrupt the tomb, and the body and soul of hylia itself.

I enjoy Zelda and link being friends as much as the next person, but I think in Tomb of the Gods it’d be way funnier if they didn’t get along at first
