The day starts with breakfast in bed - or at least it does for Miguel. For Thera it began several days before, sneaking about making arrangements that have her thoroughly pleased with herself by the time his actual birthday comes to call. And so! Eggs on toast, rashers of bacon (and we won't talk about how she watched those little buggers like a hawk to make sure they came out well), and a cup of the scalding black coffee he enjoys. After that she's planned a lazy day, full of fuss and pampering, facilitated by the comfy new bathrobe waiting gift-wrapped on the coffee table - next to the smaller package containing a pair of light-reactive sunglasses that will adjust their shade depending where he is. Fill in with activities of his choice, be that books or movies or something else, until around five o'clock when her phone buzzes and with a grin she hurries downstairs for a delivery. Fillet steak enough for two people, and a platter of whole baked crab - something extra-crunchy for those chewy feelings. Oh, and a selection of wines, all of which she serves up to him while wearing a sleek, partly see-through slip of dark blue. "Happy birthday, Big Man."

it's miguel's birthday!

The turn of the calendar had once more landed on a familiar date, an occasion that, until now, had filled him with dread, rather than elation or gratitude. All along, he had wrongly believed that there was nothing worth remarking about growing older, especially when the years he had left were shrouded in doubt. But, a lot could change in a year, and along with making progress on his research arose other reasons to welcome the steady approach of days to come.

The largest of which, upon enjoying his breakfast in bed, prompted the big guy to seek Thera out, showering her in adoration as he drew her into a warm embrace, alternating between gentle kisses and sips of coffee. From there, the same affable atmosphere persisted, where between open-mouthed "Oh!"s and further embraces to come, he shrugs on the gifted bathrobe, ripped somewhat enthusiastically from its packaging within seconds of receiving it.

"It fits like a glove," he'd manage to say at some point later, complimenting her knack for gauging the most appropriate fit required as he brushes a hand against the length of a soft sleeve. Content to lay and sit about intermittently throughout the course of the afternoon, his gaze is momentarily dragged away from the sight of an adventurer cracking a whip on screen to track Thera's fleeting steps, the smell giving away what she had rushed downstairs to collect.

Requiring no instruction, he's already in motion, pitching in to set the table and arranging extra plates, snagging for himself beneath the cover of tinfoil one of the baked crabs in the process. Without hesitation, boiled exoskeleton yields to the strength of his jaw with an audible crunch, fangs piercing easily through the cracked shell to consume the protein-rich food within, savouring every bite.

Had doubts persisted that his unreliable appetite would get in the way of eating well for a change, they were put to rest as Miguel made short work of the remaining crabs, tearing a few more apart with his teeth before using his talons instead, digging out and piling the tender meat upon a plate to share between them. Shortly after that, he'd pivot to the steak, his portion there and gone before Thera had gotten half-way through hers, a gap in time that grants him the chance to cast a look her way, admiring, with increasing levels of affection, the lengths she went through to prepare all of this for him.

"Thank you for everything." Spoken directly from the heart, he raises a glass of cabernet in her honour, toasting all the energy that she exerted to help make this day one to remember. "Would you like me to pour another glass for you?" Inevitably offered, thanks to the persistence of stubborn habits.

It was important to him that she was enjoying herself, as much as he was.

i saw someone on reddit mention this and wanted to see it for myself, so here it is. if you initiate a romance with astarion, but then later pursue someone else, he'll almost always be catty about it, imply that you have poor taste for choosing someone else over him, and will reject any offer of polyamory on the grounds of either personal standards (ew, you want him to be in a love triangle with who?) or self-preservation (he ain't fighting lae'zel for your ass lmao).

but if his rival-in-question is karlach...

he tells you that he hopes you'll be a comfort to her and turns down your offer of seeing him on the side because he doesn't want her to get hurt :`)

meanwhile, if you put karlach in the same situation (start out romancing her, then pursue astarion), she'll also start out quite sweet...

and then quickly devolve into (affectionately) taking the piss out of astarion for stealing her partner 😁

i truly would not be mad if nancy breaks up with jonathan and tells steve to move on. and for vickie to tell robin she’s not interested but is willing to be friends. so nancy and robin decide they need to hang out after a long day of heartbreak and throughout their convos of explaining everything that’s been going on, they realize they have feelings for each other. i truly would not be mad at that. in fact, that’s exactly what i want to happen 😌
