The Regalia Type-F is always hell to land. No reason for thinking about it, but just - the amount of times I crashed the car-plane and got the game over screen without saving was not fun.
I think it happened at least ten times, when I was trying to reach Pitioss Ruins.
That’s not even mentioning the total madness of the dungeon itself.
On the other hand, I kind of want to read something about the bros getting the type-f and utterly shredding magitek troops, because on my NG+, they never leave you.
Every ten or some seconds, oh - there goes the red warning sign at the top of the screen, and they literally drop on your head.
And then I have Noct booking it in the opposite direction as quickly as possible, because you can only take spamming alterna or battling them on loop so frequently so many times.
Also - imagine Calidor or Loqi getting screwed over by the Type-F. These four idiots are on the run, and yet they have a car which can turn into a plane?

Loqi: *sitting leaned back in a chair in the Winking Skeever, totally unbothered by the High Elf in front of her*
Caryalind: So, er.. I suppose what I'm saying is I won't harm you, or your friends downstairs. Or set anyone on them.
Loqi: *raises an eyebrow* You do realize no matter what side you're on, the words 'I won't harm you' are always suspicious, right? Especially if you've thus given no reason for me to assume you would harm us.
Caryalind: I.. Do you- Do you not know-
Loqi: I know full well who you are, Thallery. No offence, but on your own you probably wouldn't even be able to take out Lucien without some crazy planning. I've trained him too well for that. And you would find my axe at your throat before you could even send word to any of your Thalmor friends.
Caryalind: Oh- Er..
Loqi: And- *sits straight, shrugging casually* Since we're apparently being honest with our identities for some reason- a horriblly naive decision on your end, really- I suppose I'll be honest too. *she holds her hand out for Caryalind to shake*
Caryalind: ...? *shakes her hand*
Loqi: I assume you called me here to offer your aid without knowing who I truly am, so I'll be nice and give you the answer for free. My name is Loqi Stormcloak. Dragonborn, heir apparent, among other things. Whatever floats your boat, to be honest.
Caryalind: Oh..! It's nice to meet you, er..
Loqi: ...
Caryalind: ... STORMCLOAK!?
Loqi: There it is. Please be quiet, I'd rather not be ratted out in the middle of the Imperial capital of Skyrim.
Caryalind: Why did you even agree to meet me?! Do you know what the Thalmor will do to you if they find out I've met with the- the daughter?? Of Ulfric Stormcloak?!
Loqi: I imagine they would attempt to torture me in a similar manner to how they tortured my friend and my father. What do you think the Thalmor will do to you if they find out you've been speaking to the child of a rebellion leader?
Caryalind: ...
Loqi: This goes both ways, buttercup. We're both screwed no matter what, according to you. If you've the balls to still offer your help, knowing what we know about each other, then get up and let's go. I'd rather not stay in Solitude any longer than I have to.
Caryalind: R-Right..

Someone needs to tell me I’m making bad decisions
Because I just started another fan fiction.
It’s also a Princess story au-
It’s a Cinderella Story based off FFXV
Disclaimers:
Slightly canon-divergent. This will be happy, like, pretty damn happy if I can help it.
Cindy’s parents were Lucis nobility, Cid is still a top-class engineer in Hammerhead don’t worry. Still very hick because I like him that way.
Ardyn is less of a threat but he is the big bad of this story. He’s gonna be Ardyn icky Izunia still, but he’s not going to be as big of a threat as he is in the game 💀
There will be heavy mentions of abuse and neglect, it’s a Cinderella story-
Also the main ship is the Chocobros, gonna air that out right now. They all deserve so much love so I’m giving them each other.
-Summary-
Prompto hadn’t asked to be brought to the Aurum Estate, hadn’t asked to be raised by Ardyn Izunia to become an assassin alongside his clone of a brother Loqi, and hadn’t asked to usurp the Aurum family line in favor of establishing themselves in Lucis high society. Cindy was always kind to him, whenever she wasn’t in Hammerhead with her Grandfather in order to escape her horrible step-father Lord Izunia, that is.
He’d been raised to kill. He knew that. It had been drilled into him from his first steps.
But the moment he’d hesitated, that’s when hell swallowed him up. Because when you’re bred and raised to do something you wish not to pursue, the only intelligent thing to do is to initiate behavioral protocol. Obedience training, is what Ardyn had called it.
Prompto grew up isolated, unknowing of his true origins due to the fact that Ardyn couldn’t trust him with the information after he’d acknowledged that Prompto wasn’t going to fulfill his ‘purpose’. And, unfortunately for Ardyn, getting rid of Prompto would be suspicious. So Prompto was made to do the estates hard labor. While attending school to clarify appearances.
But he had a secret, one he’d never share with Lord Izunia, not even for the world.
Crown Prince Noctis Lucis Caelum was his best friend. The only person who ever seemed to understand him.
And also his ‘intended’ target.
So Prompto exists in this life of constant secrecy and repetition. And when his best friend’s three-day birthday festival and ball is brought to life throughout the kingdom, all he wants to do is be there to support him.
That is his only wish, until the idea of leisurely fun at the festival is scraped from his mind upon hearing his family’s plan of action.
Loqi was to assassinate the prince within those three days. And Prompto was banned from interfering.
So naturally, he’s granted the opportunity to attend and save the life of his friend due to a mysterious stranger in their downstairs garden.
Imagine his surprise when this leads him into the arms of three men on each night of this festival.
Three beautiful nights.
Is that all it takes to erase the past? To forgive Prompto for every horrible thing he’d ever been trained to do?
Just three nights?
——————————————-
This isn’t the official summary don’t worry, these are just my thoughts on the plot so far. I hear that ffxv has been brought back to life a bit recently so here I am trying to help the noble cause.

Ida did not know what had happened to this girl. Not fully, yet. But from her own research into scientific documents, it had been a hell few could imagine. Most of these documents were classified, though. Or outright didn't... exist.
It had awoken a cold wrath within Ida - though she would not let Aerith know. To have found this little mite at the train station in time was all that mattered. And giving her a better life now. When Aerith was ready to talk, she would listen. And do all it needed.
Combing gently through the long brunette curls, Ida braided Aerith's hair with the hum of a child's song on her lips.
"What pin do you want me to put into your hair, elskede?", she asked with smile, looking over the girl's shoulder into the mirror, "A butterfly? A star? A heart? A flower? Or a bow?"
- @housetummelt Ida
@housetummelt
It had been a week of new-normal. That was what Ida had called it, and Aerith had for the most part hit the ground running. She had a dozen questions to fire off at any given moment, almost overstimulated by how different this world was.
Her lips had been sealed shut about her memories of the lab. Those were her mother's wishes... to not speak about Shinra, or Professor Hojo. They had to keep their heads down. Her first day in the Tummelt household had been a little awkward, where she took her mother's instructions too literally and had stared at her feet the entire morning.
"Uhhhhh." Aerith indecisively swayed her head this way then that, no doubt making the task of brushing out her curls all the more active. Her eyes met with Ida's in the mirror and a smile blossomed on her lips. She could see what adorned her blonde hair. "A bow." Then they could match.
"Why do the parks have pretend trees?" her first question of the morning. "Do I have to 'home school' again today?" The concept was still a foreign one, and she didn't like how stupid it made her feel. It wasn't like she had ever been taught properly. "Why can't I follow Reno to his school school?" Perhaps the question could be dodged artfully, given how quickly she chased it up with another. "What about Loqi? He doesn't school, he becomes a dinosaur."

what else can we do to fix this?
Loqi tilted his head a bit in thought. This was much more trouble than he could've imagined. There were too many variables, and Reno was all too happy to jump right in the middle.
If only the Empire could just leave this continent alone. Ulldor was close. And that probably was why Dave had considered his opinion. Loqi had been just a kid back then, but nonetheless, he had served under Ulldor for quite some time. more than that, Ulldor had been his godfather assigned at birth.
"It's not possible to talk to Caligo. I mean, it is, but he is ordered to pass anything along to the Empire. He sticks to the imperial honour code. And I wouldn't put it past him, that he still has past grudges against my family for fleeing the Empire. He'd take the opportunity to tear Meldacio and our family apart, no doubt. But first he'd have to know about this. Us. In comes this Galahdan. He threatens around, doesn't he? But he needs to realize that Ulldor will never help him, even if he brought him the prince himself on a silver platter, he'd get a kick to the face... so, we either get that into his thick skull. Or we're faster in finding his folks."

Ji-eun's smile was apologetic. On some level, she knew Ida wouldn't tell her something that was untrue simply to make her feel better, it wasn't in her nature. But at the same time, what was true for one person, wasn't always true for another.
Perhaps Ida had grown into motherhood. It suited her well, she seemed like a woman who had always been full of warmth and a nurturing nature. She had a distant understanding that she had once held a much icier reputation. But it was too difficult to imagine such a change within herself. Especially with the unspoken fact...
She hadn't told Loqi, because she had planned to end her pregnancy.
It was the logical thing to do. There was nothing to discuss about it at the time, the advisor and the brigadier general had no room in their lives for such a... mistake.
How could she possibly become a good mother on her own? She was too harsh. It had been an easy decision to let go of this baby... this same baby, who now felt like a heavy responsibility... a selfish reason to keep walking forward, even as the world seemed to crumble around her.
Her eyes closed as Ida kissed her temple. She wanted to believe her, and she was sorry that she didn't, not entirely. But she could still learn. Baldur and Ida both seemed willing to help her, and it was advice she wouldn't take for granted.
"Thankyou for opening your home to me... to us." She had been feeling quite lost recently, so to have a space that was something like home, with people who were something like family, it all felt like a blessing. "I hope that I can help in some way. This baby won't be along for a while yet, and I don't sit idly very easily. If there are tasks you need done, please, keep my offer of help in mind."
Then Baldur coughed and offered her something from their own rations. The gesture brought a smile to her face, and she hummed. "That explains why I practically dream of persimmons. I'm going to savour every bite, and forget about dry ration bars for now."
It wasn't a proper peace. There was still awkwardness, and still a lot more to think about. But as Ji-eun tore off small pieces of the bread and jam, she could feel a contentedness begin to creep in. "Ah, dry rations." she softly spoke, she had remembered something that hadn't felt too important at the time. "Tenebraean tea. There are crates of it ready to be rationed. I'll see that it's also distributed here." The floral tea was quite different to the Nifen blend, which was spiced with orange peel. "And if people don't wish to drink it, it can be their potpourri."
It took another moment. And one more. But finally Ida grasped the reality, that had seemed to slip through her fingers. In a way, Ji-eun and she were very similar in how they handled their emotions. And this here... this wasn't a moment for her to be weak. No. She did not need any comfort. Ji-eun needed that. Ida's hand reached for Ji-euns and she got up, instead guiding the younger woman to sit down.
"Don't say that. That is not true.", it was as harsh as Ji-eun's admittance to fearing she wouldn't be a good mother.
"You will be a good mother. You will be the mother this child needs. It is yours. And I can tell you, that a lot just comes naturally. No one will know your child better than you do. And to this child, you will be their whole world. You just need to love it, the rest will follow suit."
It were the words of a mother, there was experience, even if Ji-eun would likely find it hard to believe just yet. Having both her hands on the younger woman's shoulders, Ida then bowed down to press a gentle kiss to the top of Ji-eun's temple. As if she was her daughter - and Ida would treat her as such now, as long as Ji-eun wished.
"You can't ever ask too much of us, Ji-eun. The offer still stays the same, you are always welcome with us. And if you wish our help in raising this child, we will do whatever we can to help you and the baby. No discussion. No questioning. No doubts. We are parts of the same family now..."
Even though there were tears in her eyes, as Ida sat back bow, she had a smile on her lips.
She was grieving a son. But she was happy for having gained someone akin to a daughter - and a grandchild in the future.
This was a lot. And surely it would take a few days to really truly understand it, Ida had set her mind on it. Like Baldur. They could not afford to dwell on only the bad and horror of it all... because that would break them. No. This was a shock. But they needed to take a step forward. There was so much to discuss.
The man coughed a bit, handing Ji-eun a pair of breadslices with the jam Ji-eun had brought with her: "Now, if there is one thing I had learned from pregnancies, it is that sweet jams were exactly the right dinner to have."

I just learned that Sprite doesn't have caffeine, so how would the chocobros (+ Ardyn and Loqi) react to learning their fave soda/beverage didnt contain caffeine. (Also, I feel bad for Loqi, people forget the small idiot all the time. It makes me cry a little.)
Ignis is so genuinely angry that it’s scary.
Gladio is crushed, but he’s also relieved. He thought he was becoming immune to caffeine.
Prompto’s a little relieved, because this means he won’t get caffeine headaches if he doesn’t drink it for a while.
Noctis will just regard it as a neat fact. If he wants caffeine, he drinks coffee, but it doesn’t affect him much.
Ardyn is too old to care, he’s just amazed that any drink can taste so good.
Loqi knows that he doesn’t need the caffeine to begin with, so he’s coolin’.

Assassin’s Festive -Loqi Tummelt-
masterlist | request
Prompt: Can you do some something to do with the assassin's creed festival?
Pairings: Loqi Tummelt x Reader
Summary:
Word Count: 820
The moment you first heard of the Assassins festive that was coming to Lestallum, you immediately started asking Loqi to take you. At first to told you that he was too busy and ask someone else to take you. However once you gave him your signature ‘puppy eyes’ and said “But I want to go with you.” You knew he couldn’t resist you.
Looking directly at your eyes, He let out a deep sigh before turning away. “If I have the time.” A proud smile came to your face at his words. You gave him a quick hug before walking away wondering if you’ll even get to go.
As the arrival date got closer, you started to believe you’ll miss out of the one in a lifetime event. Until one day Loqi came up to you with a hint of a smirk resting on his face. “My sweetheart, you get your wish. We’ll be leaving today to go to that festival.” The words brought a smile to your face, you jump up and wrap your arms around his neck in excitement. After a couple of seconds you stop and give him a narrowed eye look. “Why? What changed?” He shook his head and mumble something illegible. “Sometimes I wish you weren’t so smart. I got word that Prince Noctis will be arriving at the festival shortly. I wish to bring him in, So you are coming along.”
A small part of you knew you should be upset that he was going because of work, not because you wanted to. However when you pictured what Lestallum would look like, the smile it brought changed that. You pushed the negative thoughts out and kept thinking about how you were technically going on vacation with Loqi and you’re going somewhere you really wanted to see.
Once the door opened up, it took you a minute to adjust to the bright natural light. However one you did, your jaw dropped at the sight.
Beside you, Loqi went over the plan with the MTs once more. So caught up in your own shock and awe, you never saw the look of adoration on Loqi face that was directly towards you.
“Do you remember what we talked about?” Turning your attention upward, you only nod as your eyes fixate of the giant clock tower. “Darling” His hand on your shoulder breaks you stare. “Right. Don’t talk to outsiders, stay near the guard, and if I get lost head south towards the power plant.” Nodding along with your words, he smiled one you finished. Kissing your cheek, he whispered. “See you at the hotel.” before walking off with two magitek troopers following him.
For the remainder of the day, you walked around the festive, playing the games, getting rewards, trying new foods, and talking to fellow fans. Once the sun began to set, you hurried back to your hotel room. Once you got there, you instantly knew something was wrong. Loqi was already in room, though you expected him to be out working most of the night, He sat in a chair in the corner, resting his head on his hand, lost in thought.
You close the door louder than normal, to alert and distracted general of your presence. He stops his pacing and looks in your direction. “You’re back early.” You narrow your eyes at him before pointing to the window. “It’s dark outside.”
Turning his stare sideways, he looks where your finger was pointing. He nodded at the sight before calmly getting up from the chair and begins to walk towards the bathroom - only to be stopped by your words. “Can we spend the last day together?” You forward at him with hopeful eyes and he simply stared back to you. “I suppose.”
The next and final day of the festive, Loqi spent the day with you as promised. The pair of you did everything you did by yourself,
As the sun began to set, you head towards the parking lot to grab dinner. Sitting on a picnic table, you look upwards towards the sky as the firework show is set to begin.
You let out a joyful noise as the bright colors of fireworks filled the sky. Your eyes turn away for a second when you feel something pulling on your shoulder, only to see Loqi’s hand. You follow his suggestion and move closer.
“Thank you, Loqi. I know we didn’t care here because of me, but I had a lot of fun.” His head turned to face you as you spoke. “I’m glad. I expected to despise this experience, however it was enjoyable to spend the day with you and see you so happy.” His words brought a wide smile to your face as you snuggle closer to his side.
Despite how the day went for the empire, you were happy you got the spend the last few hours relaxing with Loqi.

Huh.
Okay, so Niflheim has their mechs (a la Loqi and Caligo), as a sort of infantry/artillery hybrid. But probably no airships when they took over Accordo. Might have the smaller troop transports by the time of the Great War, but I doubt anything larger than that.
The main problem with the MTs was actually not scale or power, it was giving them enough of an artificial intelligence to be capable of following orders and achieving objectives independently in the field. Hence the need for daemons and babies.
I agree that Niflheim is still seeking to annex Lucis. However, without Ardyn's contributions and manipulations egging the Emperor on, and without Besithia's magitek advancements, Niflheim's ability to wage war on Lucis won't be able to match their desire to do so.
As far as I can recall, Besithia's projects involving daemons and miasma was... not well supported. I don't think he really got major funding for it until after he had some proofs of concept and Ardyn persuading the Emperor that yes, this is a feasible idea. But with Besithia focused on Project Wallbreaker (which might be called Project Godkiller in this au) instead of the daemon projects and with no time or resources to rebuild what he lost in his labs, Besithia might never go from being obsessed with daemons and miasma generally, to the 'I'm going to turn myself into a daemon' nutjob he was in canon. And not having Iedolas' favor to choose his own projects, Besithia could very well get pigeon-holed into working on the projects Iedolas demands, or else.
Galdin Quay is a Niflheim outpost? Really? I cannot imagine Lucis allowing that to continue in the 150 years since the Wise made the Wall.
Fortunately, my partner is a history and military nut, so my plan there is to pose them the 'what would Niflheim's military have looked like pre-airship and how would it develop without the miasma power source' question and just let them go on a two hour ramble while taking notes for ideas. :)
My best guess based on what I've learned over listening to previous rambles: very strong naval force for power projection and to serve as mobile bases of operation for air and land units until they can get a foothold on Lucian soil, then a mix of infantry and artillery units with air support if Niflheim has it by that point. Details to be added later.
Of course, that's before taking into account Lucis' military advancements in response to being attacked. (I despair of canon Lucis' R&D and refuse to accept that they would not make serious efforts to combat Niflheim's technology advantage. No, I don't care that they were safe behind the Wall, any plans to retake Lucis would have to consider counters to Niflheim's magitek.)
But technology and political considerations are something I'll delve more into in a separate post, once I straighten out my thoughts and ideas more.
But in short, while there will probably still be a war, it won't be the Great War from canon.
In Spark verse, would Drautos still be a spy or would his capture and getting turned into Glauca be butterflied away?
Honestly, I don't even know.
It all depends on how the Great War ends up going, which is going to require a lot of worldbuilding on my end because we know so little about it.
Like, we know Besithia made the MTs with the help of Ardyn and his knowledge of the Scourge. He doesn't have that here, so the Imperial Army will still be entirely human, and that changes the game, because Niflheim can't just make more soldiers at the drop of a hat. Not even clones, because this Besithia's cloning project isn't on a mass scale like canon.
But that still leaves questions of Niflheim's military technology level. I hc that Ardyn supplied a lot of knowledge about magitek, or where to find the knowledge for Besithia to recreate, but that doesn't tell us how much knowledge Niflheim already had. Do they have their airships? Do they have the gravity/inertia manipulation technology that Aranea uses to fight like a dragoon? Do they have their magitek exosuits and mechs?
I hc that Mors had to pull the Wall back to Insomnia because Niflheim's airships allowed them to bypass the Wall entirely, because the Wall didn't have a roof at that point. So Mors pulled the Wall to protect Insomnia and the Crystal, because without the Crystal Lucis was going to find themselves up a creek without a paddle.
Also, it's heavily implied in canon that Iedolas' obsession with the Crystal is partially, if not entirely, due to Ardyn's manipulations. Without those manipulations, we could very well see a drastically different Emperor and Empire.
There might not even be a Great War.
Which means Galahd might not Burn. Which means Titus might not lose his home and might never be captured by the Empire.
#ffxv#Spark!Ardyn au#worldbuilding#Niflheim#Lucis#Lucis and Niflheim aren't the only players to account for either#Accordo and Tenebrae and Galahd have skin in the game too

I had more ideas about my oc crossover thing so I wrote more dialogue for them lmaoo
~
Merlyn: Soooo... What happened to you?
Morana: ...
Merlyn: I do know Imperial Sign if you wanna use that. I know you dropped your notebook on the er- journey here.
Morana: ...! I got Crimson Plague as a child. Then bad people experimented on me, so it can't go away.
Merlyn: Damn. I kinda figured you weren't completely mute, I can hear you whisper to yourself sometimes. Kinda hard to hear with that mask on, though.
Morana: I don't like not wearing my mask. Not usually. I also don't like not being able to speak to my friends.
Merlyn: Do they not know sign in your world?
Morana: Most of them aren't totally fluent yet. Kai is a great learner, though. Lu, Tally, and Cary already knew it.
Merlyn: That's nice.
Loqi: *from afar* WHAT'D YOU SAY SHORTY?!
Sprout: YOU FUCKEN BEANSTALK! I SAID-
Merlyn: Ugh, those two again. Veda!
Veda: On it. *walks over and lifts the two into the air*
Sprout: LEMME GO!!
Loqi: YOU'RE LUCKY SHE CAN DO THIS, SHORTCAKE!
Sprout: OH OFF WIT' YE!
Ko'irra: Ko'irra has finished her Blood Potions. She is greatful for the materials, friend.
Morana: *thumbs up*
Merlyn: I don't even want to know where you got stuff like human hearts and flesh..
Morana: ...? From humans.
Merlyn: I said I don't want to know-
Avery: *giggling* I suppose you must find ways to acquire several strange ingredients for your potions. You must have a strong stomach.
Morana: *waves her hand in a 'so-so' manner before remembering Avery can't see it* ... Sabre eyes and human hearts don't really affect me. I'm not very squeamish.
Merlyn: She said she's not squeamish.
Avery: Ah! I suppose you must not be. I imagine I wouldn't be a healer if I could see. Even just the feeling of blood and gore is enough to give me the ick sometimes.
Morana/Merlyn relaying: It's not a bad thing to not like blood.
Ko'irra: Ko'irra thinks blood is delicious.
Merlyn: Yes, yes we know. Vampire things.
Ko'irra: She is also a follower of Namira.
Merlyn: ... Right, we.. didn't need to know that. Thanks, though.
Avery: I imagine many of your companions are not fond of your tendency to follow Daedric Princes.
Ko'irra: Ko'irra has given them many chances to leave if they so wish. None have, so she can only assume they tolerate it.
Merlyn: Yeah, that checks out. Kinda seems to be the trend no matter what.
Shie: Haha. Veda got you suspended again, shorty?
Sprout: DON'T YE EVEN FUCKEN START-
Loqi: ONLY I CAN CALL HIM SHORTY YOU DRAUGR!
Shie: DRAUGR?!
Veda: I only have two hands, don't make me get my Gynoids.
Avery: Are we at least all in agreement thay Mehrunes Dagon's dagger stays broken, no matter what Princes we follow?
Morana: Absolutely.
Merlyn: Oh definitely.
Ko'irra: After what that one did to Kaidan? His dagger can rot in Oblivion for all Ko'irra cares.

When your sister enjoys making you angry..!!
Loqi:*He speaks with anger and clenched teeth*: I want to get his eyes out of shape, then graft his in for myself. You !! You do it for me.
Laura:*As She laughs, she looks into her microscope*: I think you love Cor. And because of his answer you have heard you say so hateful. Or maybe he betrayed you !!
Loqi:*He gets angry but continues in a quiet and nervous voice*: Shut up please! Enough talk behind my back !! All you have to do is confirm!
Laura:*She laughs louder, but lowers his voice*: OK! I'm not telling anyone that you want the lucian's marshal.
Loqi:*He knocks firmly on the table andshouts*: Laura!!!
Laura:*She just laughs and shakes her head*: Okay!!

he'd been at meldacio long enough to see others stumble through the starting blocks of building their own families, and there was a part of him that was sure they'd had their own creeping doubts and worries hanging over their heads too ... but they hadn't defected from the empire. they hadn't once bore a surname synonymous with rank and power within gralea. their families hadn't been built on the sins of an empire and the ashes of an island it had trodden on.
scrubbing a hand though his hair and shaking his head - reno stopped his train of thoughts there. enough. this was good news and it was happy news and he'd jump the hurdles when they came ... or kick them down, one or the other.
' that how you felt with kimi? ' reno asked, genuine interest sparked as he tried to imagine a dave his own age, with a kiddo on the way and the mantle of head hunter on his shoulders. that had hardly been the case with will though - reno had been old enough then. too old to be welcoming younger siblings because he'd been old enough to know what that had meant and too mortified by the notion for the longest of times.
until he'd ended up with another little brother, that was. and then the perspective had shifted because will had been different; not loqi, not kimi. not a little one that knew their family was a patch-work quilt, but one innocent to the trials and tribulations that had happened before he'd been born - for him, home had always been meldacio, his parents had always been his parents and his big brothers and big sister had always been just as they were.
There was a seriousness that went an' seeped into the hut then, one that couldn't be quickly pasted over with a happy smile at the fantastic news, but it was a creepin' doubt that Dave knew all too well. Reckoned every parent knew it.
"Yer gonna have plenty of folks offerin' watchin' eyes and helpful hands. There'll be times when it feels like too many people wanna have a say or lend their opinion."
Because folks meant well an' it was only natural to wanna help new parents settle into a routine. But it wasn't that easy neither; everyone had t'find their own way. "Y'think I knew anythin' bout little'uns before Kimi came along? I was half-afraid t'hold her for the first few days, kept thinkin' I'd break her."
"It's gonna be dauntin' and there'll be plenty of sleepless nights an' arguments, and yer gonna feel like ya fucked it up. Every parent feels like that Reno, but you an' Selena will figure it out yer own way. An' ya got family on both sides ready to step in if y'all need a break."
