New IM chapter I'm gonna try to get my reaction down

The first being Bendy! So glad you aren't trusting the suspicious triangle demon! However also Bendy! I want answers and Bill is right there offering all of them! But what I found interesting is Bill's coughing. Ya sure could be throwing up an act about spitting out the pieces of code, but they were covered in ink. It's hard to tell if it's Bill being Bill and the code itself was covered in ink or if by eating the code he gave himself ink illness. Could he get ink illness? No idea. But it's an interesting thought and is quick to explain why he keeps pestering Bendy for a favor.

It also makes me wonder what "chaos" does Bendy get into in the future that the cosmics/gods are watching him? Chaos mentions he's a fan because of what Bendy does in the future, and now Bill is here. So what the hell does Bendy end up doing?

Next is Hat and the soulbind, something tells me Bendy isn't getting rid of it that easily. But my question is is how fast is the spread of ink illness and if Cuphead already has ink illness again? Or even more importantly would it be actually able to pass over a soultie? How does Cup's contract tie in this? And honestly why is Cup so okay with this? Considering his trauma I would've thought he'd be pro-get-rid-of-this-soul-tie-through-any-means. Hell considering the risks it might bring with the Devil. I guess that speaks to how much he trusts Bendy Ig. But I wonder if Cup and Bendy's soul tie is the actual reason the Devil wants Bendy under his heel, I can't imagine it'd be easy to keep someone under contract when they make a soul-bond with someone else.

Anyway I got carried away with that. I'm starting to believe that Bendy has a specialty in souls, I'm even wondering if he's a Demon of Death like I believe the Old Devil was? Pretty sure he's a demon of death. It'd explain a lot regarding Bendy's powers. Also it looks like we're finally getting to where Hat's mentorship is coming around to bite Bendy in the butt. I was wondering when that was going to happen. I think that Bendy's "shadows" might be old souls, something he's pulling from the Otherside. Which is why they have emotions or certain personalities. But Idk we'll see.

Bruuuh, so like my last 3 things have been about Miraculous BUT Inky Mystery by ThisAnimatedPhantom fights for its time in my brain soooo here's me being the fangirl I am and singing its praises because it has to be one of the best fanfics I have EVER read!

BUT before I get ahead of myself let me explain a few things to those who aren't familiar. Inky Mystery is a glorious fanfiction on AO3 that is based on a fan comic that brings the cartoon worlds of BATIM, Cuphead, Felix, older Disney Cartoons, Villainous, etc. together on a thrilling quest filled with Drama, Mystery, and Adventure. The story follows Bendy, Boris, and friends as they try to uncover the cure to the mysterious ink illness that has begun to plague toons around the world.

One of the best parts is that even if ur not familiar with all of the fandoms u can enjoy it tho I would suggest being familiar with BATIM at least cause it is mostly centered around Bendy and Boris and knowing about it helps with theories and spotting the subtle references sprinkled throughout.

But onwards!!

Soo I kinda made a Theory board of sorts that started back towards the beginning of the labyrinth stuff and I haven't updated it in a while. It's just a bunch of excerpts from the chpts that I thought were important at the time. It mostly has to do with the BATIM Easter eggs I mentioned earlier but there are also some theories that I have had floating around in my head. I wouldn't suggest looking at them if you haven't made it to like Chpt 294ish, but here they are.

The bottom one isn't even coded at all ooops. (As an add on I want u to think about how Boris is kinda Joey at times while Bendy is simultaneously himself and Henry)

Anyway, sry that this post is a bit ah, chaotic (hehehe) but I will add one more thing if anyone wants to read it:

1. it can be a little slow at times BUT the other parts make up for it, 2. it can be weirdly dramatic (which is more from the remnants of the fan comic than TAP but still), and 3. it does cover some more mature topics on occasion BUT the chpts have warnings for them when they come up.

Centipede Tango Tek - CTT Au Master post

This is my master post about my Tango Tek is a Centipede AU/Headcanon, but now with more coherent thoughts of what I want.

TW WARNINGS: Zombies, Insects, Body horror, Gore, Low self esteem and mental health problems. (If you think I should add another tag pls let me know, this is my silly au I don't want to cause distress to no one.)

Note: As I am writing some things may change, so I will update this note with the date I last changed something here. (08/08/2023)

I swear it's not that bad, but messing with zombie characters gets messy very fast.

In this AU main plot I have:

-Tango is a parasitic modded mob that should not be a player but is.

-He specifically is a Centipede that lives in dead corpses and is basically like a zombie with guts that attack if the main body is damaged/destroyed. 

-Here is a link for a text book description I made of his species.(Somethings I wrote there are not up to date with my current headcanon.)

-Tango being a sentient being and a player, he mostly functions like a zombie hybrid player ex.Cleo and Zloy

- He has two bodies : His decoy body (The corpse of a permadead player he rides) and his real body (His centipede one)

-His two bodies are code linked. Let me explain: Tango Tek code will only show right when he is “complete”, when he is separated his close name tag glitches and Tango appears afk in an admin screen. He will only respawn if his real body is damaged and as his decoy body is a literal corpse, it will only repair itself when the damage taken caused a respawn death. Any other type of damage taken in his decoy body he has to repair it Himself (this type of damage and repair, applies to most undead players, Cleo is one of them.). If Tango is killed without his decoy body, the decoy body will not respawn with him, he has to go fetch it.

- Just to be clear, Tango didn’t just found a random corpse and started riding it, His decoy body is with him since he first “spawned”, He woke with all the information that a fresh new player needs to knows, but instead of the corpse receiving it, what got it was the vermin inhabiting it.

-One thing that makes him stay awake at night is the fact that, he already had a years long register from before he spawned, he had money, he had a Hypixel account and he had a name: Tango. He added the Tek latter, because of a dear friend of his, that is until now the only important OC I dared to put in this AU.

-Tango Spawned in an residential world where being a hostile mob hybrid wasn't looked upon with good eyes, so since early he learned to use makeup and clothes to pass as a mostly human player.

-He spend weeks of his early days training his fine motor coordination, so he can pass as a clumsy human and not a decaying corpse being controlled by a insect (It's like playing cuphead with your keyboard slightly upside down) 

-He spend years isolated in single player worlds, because of the fear of what he is and what would be done to him in the case that other people discover.

-His eyes are red, because his decoy body doesn't have its eyes anymore, so he just uses his own real body to cover it. When someone asks why his eyes are weird red swirls, he just says he was cursed by the "universe".

-This "he is a bug, that rides a dead body and is basically a zombie, but he is disguized as a human" thing, may have started as a form of defense to not suffer from the discrimination that aggressive mob hybrids suffered in that era, but with time it turned in a type of self hate. Even when compared with other zombies and undead hybrids, he can see he is not the same and this really bugged him. He can only say that his red eyes (that are a literal part of his real body) are a curse of the universe too many times, until he started to believe it himself.

-So his disguise turned more permanent than it should. It's been some decades and no one really knows the truth, the only one that really knows is himself "Human" if asked Tango Tek.

-As I said it started as a means of protection, but even when the wheels turned and the ones that were the real problem now are a minority, Tango still is hiding. He knows he is an anomaly, that he should not be capable of thinking of feeling! Someway in his path he started to think of himself as a monster, as an unlovable being and even when he entered Hermitcraft, a place where everyone is accepted, he continued to hide. 

-Now more than his self hate, he has fear: fear of being lonely again, of his family (his only family) hating him for what he is (he hates what he is, he wish he could be normal).

-Tbh he should see a therapist, the really angst part of this AU is Tango's poor mental health state, he is so blinded with his own fallacy, that he is a wrong unlovable monster, to notice that his friends and family never would trade him for anything else.

-This type of self hate is something that builds slowly, but Tango has decades of auto inflicted isolation to construct this narrative. Believe me, Isolation does things to a person's mental state.

Some little curiosities:

-Tango is a make-up guru as a moving plot point, he uses makeup to cover his undeadnes.

-Since he entered Hermitcraft his makeups started to become more and more detailed, he had a few hiccups in the path and Impulse has a lot of blackmail from his failed attempts.

-Because of his "is a bug riding a dead body" thing, he doesn't have a very fine motor skill, so he can't really do things like sewing or anything that requires a good working set of fingers. (His makeup is mostly a exception because he had years to really refine his ability to paint his own face)

-He does his red stone using mostly his real body, he puts the rough components in place with his decoy body and then uses his real body to do the finer connection and setup of the machines. 

-This means that when he does redstone his decoy body just lay where Tango put it before he goes to “redstone world” (anyone who finds it would think that Tango has permadied), he escaped a lot of close calls since entering hermitcraft.

-Fun fact, because he is a anomaly in the code his decoy body and real body are counted as one in his code, and because his decoy body was originally of a human player that permadied, his code when superficially looked just says that he is a human (it makes easier to lie to admins)

-Because of his "bugged" code, he can only access his inventory while riding his decoy body, so it can be tricky if Tango is separated from it.

-Tango can talk as a bug, It's harder without proper vocal cords and has a clicking intonation to it, but he can speak. It comes from nothing and he really doesn't wants to talk how it works.

-As I said previously, Tango is the name of the permadied corpse, the Tek is something that he put after. (Tek is the onomatopoeia of the clicking sound he does when happy. It is too a type of “happy greeting” between bug players)

-Tango has proper formal admin training, he has gone to Admin school and has a degree.

-Tango needs Cleo's help with undead things and its forces him to reveal more than he has revealed in a long time: Everyone always forget that corpses have a lot of things to say. (One shot)

-Someone finds Tango's body when he is redstoning things and now everyone knows: Tango’s Castle of Cards.(4/5 chapters still incomplete I am working in it I swear)

-Scar backstory

-Cleo and Tango go shoping in the Zombie market.

-Tango and Zed discover a thing

-Tango and Vintage beef bug friendship.

Corey and Oats in..

VS Sloppina

Everyone’s favorite duo known as Corey and Oats spent many days together going on adventures with their friends and even if the adventures were questionable they did like them. The duo were in their home with Mel looking on the computer and looking at Pokemon related content when Aiyido the beholder saw something that displeased him.

That something was a game titled ‘Sloppina’s Toony Horror House’ , a supposed horror game that was being advertised and featuring grotesque clown mutants as enemies to fight and toon-monsters that looked like they were rejected Cuphead character designs. ‘I don’t like this game.’ ‘You are right to not like this game, ugh, clown tfs again? I thought we dealt with the likes of those ages ago.’ ‘Let’s just go in and stop this.’

They all decided to use a magic code to access the portal in the computer which opened up and pulled them through the screen, and when they came out through the other end they had arrived inside the game. Oats and Corey looked around, both of them thought the game’s world looked like a discount version of Twisted Metal crossed with Cuphead.

Mel recoiled at the clown mutants before fighting a few of them which got the attention of Sloppina herself, who was a grotesque looking dog-like clown-monster with dark brown hair with blue highlights. ‘Hey, leave my clown buddies alone.’ Of course our heroes refused to listen to her because she was evil and Mel responded with…’How about you stop trying to shove your fetish content into Aiyido the Beholder’s feed? Aiyido was trying to look at Pokemon content.’

Aiyido the beholder zapped a few of the clowns…’Well some people like clowns. No need to be a party pooper about it.’ ‘You know, Sadistica accused me of being rude just because I did not like her game either.’ Mel added. ‘So?’ ‘You are no different than her, just someone with a weird fetish that is trying to make it impossible for people to look up their favorite things by producing constant ads for a stupid fetish game.’

He rolled his eyes and shot some eyerays at the clown mutants as Corey and Oats helped him to fight them off. ‘How many times must we tell you? Clown transformations are not cool or sexy.’ Mel saw that the source of the clown mutant mutations was a mutagenic gas that was spreading throughout the town.

Luckily Oats trotted over to the location of where the gas was located and he used some magic to destroy the gas canisters and return everyone who was turned into a clown mutant back to normal. ‘Where are we?’ ‘You are in the domain of Sloppina, that is the name of the horrible woman who forced her clown fetish on you and transformed you all into clown mutants.’ ‘She did what? Oh she is so in it for this time.’

‘This time?’ ‘Oh yes, very much so.’ The formerly transformed citizens told Corey and Oats all about their everyday encounters with Sloppina and her bizarre hyperfixation which peeved her off, Sloppina tried to re-brainwash them and to brainwash the duo but they were not affected by her.

Anglo the anglerfish found a canister of the dip from Who Framed Roger Rabbit which he used to weaken the toon-monsters, he spilled the dip all over them which caused their toony bodies to collapse and melt away in a visceral manner. ‘There we go.’ ‘We did it.’ ‘And now to end you.’

All of them used their combined abilities to knock Sloppina down before performing a spell that drained her of her powers and made it so she could not transform anyone, Mel finished her off with a kick to the stomach before knocking her down and removing her special wands that she used and destroying them, making it so she could no longer use her magic again.

The game’s world shifted and returned to how it was before she had corrupted it. Mel looked over at her and pointed out…’What you did was not very nice. Forcing your fetishes onto others is not a good idea and you were mean to all those innocent people by turning them into toony freaks and clown mutants. For all those crimes alone plus the ones you commit on a regular basis, you should be grounded and thus you shall be. You are grounded until people stop fetishizing people with jobs, and while you are grounded you will eat lumpy potatoes for every meal.’ ‘Waaaaa.’

‘Cry like a motorcar and i’ll reprogram that game of yours to have you get turned into one!’ A vortex popped up in the middle of the ground and began to pull Sloppina down, pulling her further and further down until it pulled her all the way down into a prison-like dimension.

When she jumped out of the vortex she looked around and saw that she was stuck there in the prison-like dimension, she was locked up there for a long time and stayed grounded because of what she did. After that, Corey and Oats and all their friends stopped for lunch at a cafe.

The duo enjoyed their lunch before deciding to have afternoon tea and after that they decided to leave, as the portal they had accessed before materialized and they jumped through it, jumping through it and arriving back at their home in Nile Road.

They gathered up in the lounge and waited for dinner, and had a fun game session afterwards, and afterwards they emailed Jill about their adventure before having a karaoke session. And after their karaoke session they all got ready for bed.

Corey put on his bat pajamas and Oats put on his pink night-gown as they all brushed their teeth in the bathroom before going back to the bedroom, they picked friends to snuggle up with as they all hopped into bed. They all said goodnight to each-other as Anglo turned off the light and used his own light as a nightlight to help them.

And help them throughout the night he did…as they all drifted off and had sweet dreams as they did so, their horrible ordeal was over and everything was once again calm. And thus another adventure has ended but more are coming up.

I guess that nightly text posts are my thing now

Today I painted my nails, which was nice!

I usually do this when I notice I'm self harming, and do it to stop myself -- mostly I pick my skin, but that does fuck up nail polish

So now my bedroom air is thick with polish fumes and I have snazzy nails

Do I need to take a rest from the world? Absolutely, the other day my bf said I should take a month long break from my thesis and HE WAS RIGHT

But I can't stop, the work won't get itself done, but I'm also trying to be patient with myself

Yesterday I got so tired I almost fainted, so I took it easy for the remainder of the day

Today I did some work (not a lot), but I don't feel like dying as much as I did yesterday

I had enough presence of mind to notice that I needed to paint my own nails

No hallucinations today, but my head is really fucking heavy -- I think my periods coming

Tried to think about a vday gift for my bf but honestly, I don't know -- thinking of getting him Berserk Deluxe vol 2 (got him the first for his bday) or maybe Cuphead or Hades for the Switch. I do have an excel spreadsheet (yeah, ik) with ideas but I'm so... Overwhelmed right now

And he keeps saying that I don't need to worry, being with him is enough but... What if he resents me? What if he thinks I'm not okay with spending money on him?

I love that man so much, miss him so dearly, I honestly can't wait for Saturday so we can hand out and bake and read together and just have time for each other

Is it risky to vent on social media with the same handle as my other socials? Absolutely

On the other hand, I don't think my colleagues would think of looking me up on Tumblr, and if they do, well, it's their own damn fault

I'm lying in bed, partly dissociating, partly just being, but I think what I really need is a hospital stay. Have people care for me for a couple months. Only focus on making myself feel better for a couple months. But alas, a thesis doesn't write itself

Let's just hope I remain kind of grounded and dont do anything that would make me require being hospitalised

Although some broken ribs don't sound too bad in comparison to having to stumble through a code base of stuff I'm absolutely lost

Sometimes I wonder what my mental health diagnosis would look like. I know that for sure depression and anxiety would be there. With the Sunday thing, maybe PTSD. But the rest? The dissociating, the swings, the hallucinations? Sometimes I think it might be BPD -- self destruct, sometimes I say bad things and only know it bc my s/o gets hurt and I get fucking confused because I DONT REMEMBER SAYING THAT I ONLY REMEMBER THINGKING IT

Sometimes I think I might just have no cure. Just like my constant tiredness and period imbalances, no one will know why the things are happening. No one will bother with extra tests and all I'll have is a "theoretically, you're okay"

hi! since you are a bit of a writer yourself i am just wondering do you think there is a thing as "copying" other people's work i mean i know it is basically stealing if you just steal paragraph by paragraph and just change the names but what if i am feeling inspired by something? i just get tired of people being like "your characters seem a lot like these characters from this media" do i just need to work more on making my characters unique idk where i am going with this sorry dsjlkljfkds

‘’’’’Oh hello! Wow I’m honored that you asked me! It’s kind of a tricky and complicated subject but I don’t think so, unless you’re outright plagiarizing someone. The thing is, no idea is going to be completely original, right? The realm of human creativity just doesn’t go that far. Like say you see a squirrel and you think to yourself “Hmm I want to write a story about squirrels!” I guarantee there are already a bunch of stories about squirrels. But they’re probably not all the same as your story. That’s because even though you and the other hypothetical story writers took your inspiration from the same place, you both have a plethora of other ideas that create the whole picture. and those end up different from each other because your other ideas + inspiration came from different places. And you might take other inspiration from other places, but it’s still different from that other place because the other pieces that make up the picture are different. and so on and so forth. (i hope that makes sense KJDJFJ)

Taking inspiration from another piece of media to create something original is a common practice among creators. Not just from fan creators, but from original creators as well. Original creators are just like us - they’re fans of other things, and they love to show how much they love those things in their work. Where we usually do that by way of fanart or fanfiction, where we take a concept they made and put our own spin on it, with varying degrees of our own originality sprinkled in. (Obviously the majority of fan content pulls far too much from the source material to be fairly compared with original content that is inspired by other original content, but i have seen fanfiction that could genuinely be an original novel if they just tweaked a few things! i think some fanfiction has actually been tweaked and published as novels as well, though i haven’t read any myself. that i know of lol!)  Like if you listen to interviews or read posts by creators, they cite other media as inspirations a lot. some of them you can tell really easily - rwby and miraculous ladybug were both heavily inspired by anime (miraculous ladybug was magical girl anime in particular; I don’t know enough anime to cite a specific show/genre for rwby if there even is one); cuphead’s entire brand is styling itself after 1930′s (why does the apostrophe look like that) cartoons; and lin-manuel miranda’s notes in his Hamilton book are chock-full of references and inspirations he cited. Seriously, there are so many of them. like I think the biggest takeaway I could give you here is that creativity is  super original but also comes from a lot of different places and everyone, even original creators, take inspiration from all kinds of places! what really matters is the execution (which is why if someone steals your idea your job is to just do it better than them. lol)

Also sometimes people will end up with similar ideas out of complete coincidence and that’s still fine! Like Luz and Marcy both have similar personalities and end up in similar situations to the point where the creators have acknowledged and poked fun at it (bubbly, neurodivergent-coded tween girl with a huge imagination unhappy and undersimulated at home ends up in an isekai-situation with an otherworldly mentor and flourishes) yet their stories are completely different. and for the record I can’t really say if this was a complete coincidence because Dana Terrace and Matt Braly are friends and I have no idea what went on behind closed doors, but if nothing else it speaks to how you can take inspiration from other creators in the same genre/with the same audience and still create something largely original.

also re: the not unique enough thing, there is a comic on tumblr that is extremely inspired by miraculous ladybug (characters, artstyle, vague concept/plot), written by a ml fan, and consumed largely by people in the ml fandom. it has a steady following (to my knowledge - i don’t actively follow it myself, although I do like it). It’s kind of like that “two cakes” analogy you see sometimes when people talk about fan content that’s similar to another (which is kind of a different facet of this conversation) - people like to see things similar to things they already like. But this comic also has a lot of original lore, plot, etc that separates it from miraculous ladybug even though it’s so similar! so please don’t worry. your creations will always be inspired by things you’ve consumed/you like, whether you mean them to be or not, but they’ll also always be your own. That’s the beauty of creating!

I know that I’m a day or two late for Code Vein’s first anniversary, but I just wanted to jot down a few of my feelings on this source of catharsis packaged as a game.

I’m not the type that can easily spill my feelings out to people. There are a small amount of people that I can vent to, and I’d like to think that I’m a reliable source of comfort for them, but all in all, I keep things bottled up and close to the chest, so to speak. I don’t like the idea of unloading onto the people I care about, and I never saw the appeal of shouting into the void, so escapism ends up my main coping mechanism. As a result, I tend to look for stories that harbor an emotional thread, something that can make me feel something that I’d otherwise rather not deal with.

Not gonna lie, I was not expecting Code Vein to be this for me.

I remember watching someone playing the early access/demo version and I only remember the character Creation screen and the player praising the art direction. I figured ‘Eh. I’ll put a pin in that and look into it’. I didn’t have a PS4 yet at that time, and I’m not much for PC gaming (Except for Cuphead, but I digress), so I put the game on a back burner. Fast forward to that Christmas, and I was surprised with a PS4 and two games for it, one of which was Code Vein.

After setting up the console and booting it up, Code Vein was the first game I popped in, and its safe to say, I was hooked. The battle system was satisfying, and I loved the blood code/class system. I’m a sucker for games that allow for a customizable playing styles. I remember legit spending a good hour in the character creator alone.

Then Oliver Collins happened and I just went “Oh. I’m in for a lot of heartache, aren’t I?”

Right off the bat, in short order I learned several things about the Gaol of the Red Mist:

1) It’s not easy to be an unkillable revenant

2) The more you fight and resurrect yourself, the more of yourself you potentially lose

3) Dodging is your friend

4)When a quiet, badass bookworm asks to join you, you say yes without question.

and arguably most important of all 5) No matter how bleak things are, doing nothing would be far worse so get off your ass and at least TRY.

I fell hard for the story of Code Vein, and the individual stories of your companions, and I love how one is compelled and encouraged to seek out those stories on your own. Not only that, these stories and the lore of the game as a whole drove me to seek more of it out. I’m not a completionist by nature, but for this game, this story? I was compelled to be.My heart broke for everyone’s losses, and I was jubilant in their victories.During my bad end playthrough, I legit cried at the end. It’s hard for a piece of media to reduce me to tears, but Code Vein managed it and through that, has helped me through some serious funks and anxious tizzies. It helped me identify and better cope with my bottle of feelings, so it’s not quite so overflowing. 

Sooo yeah. TLDR: Thank you, Code Vein, for being a wonderful story, and for helping me sort out my sorry little headspace.

I know you were previously pulling for Banjo in Smash. Can you maybe tell me why I keep seeing Minecraft fans and Banjo fans fighting on Twitter? I'm out of the loop

Okay so basically here’s the deal: Nintendo and Microsoft have been really chummy lately, they teamed up for cross-play between their systems and now CUPHEAD is coming to the Switch. There’s a ton of jokes about them dating at this pointThe big thing though is that now that they’re on friendly terms it looks VERY likely that a Microsoft character could make into Smash as DLC, its just a matter of who, and the two front runners are Steve from Minecraft and Banjo-Kazooie (One of the head guys behind Halo already deconfirmed Master Chief, so its down to these two)

There’s only room for one though, it’s super unlikely we���d get TWO Microsoft characters for DLC. What essentially is going on is: Banjo-Kazooie are who the fans want, and while Steve does have a sizable fanbase, he’s basically being pushed by 4chan as a way to troll them. He’s even been warped into this hideous, smug caricature.

It’s basically become the Pepe of the /v/ board

A glitch involving Duck Hunt caused All-Star Mode to crash while previously, Bowser Jr. caused that same issue. This matters because we’ve come to learn Jr. was used as a ‘base character’ for the devs to build out Piranha Plant. It’s also been discovered Ike and Zero Suit Samus were used as bases to build Cloud and Bayonetta. So with Duck Hunt causing that glitch… it’s led to speculation that he could be used to build out Banjo-Kazooie.

The big one: Coding for Spirits that are owned by Rare were found within the games coding when Smash Ultimate launched, but inaccessible in-game.

Points in favor of Minecraft Steve

Relevancy. Banjo is old and hasn’t had a game in eons, while Minecraft is a world-wide sensation that everybody recognizes.

Could be used to promote Minecraft Dungeons

With Nintendo choosing the DLC and not Sakurai everyone’s faith is shaken in that they’ll only pick characters to promote current releases, and not characters fans want, hence Steve. Even Joker could be considered a ‘promo’ pick with Persona 5 coming to the switch

In Japan, Minecraft doesn’t have the “Only screaming little kids play this/Cringe” stigma it has in the west

The most prominent leakers for Smash swear up and down that Steve is who is getting in.

Big one: Minecraft is the cornerstone of the Nintendo/Microsoft relationship: It’s what got them started, why wouldn’t they want to push it even further? 

It all comes down to E3

E3 is where it all gets decided. Sony is skipping out this year so Microsoft and Nintendo are running unopposed as partners now. They would absolutely save a reveal like Banjo or Steve to blow the roof off E3; ANY Microsoft character let alone those two getting into Smash has been unheard of until now!

This is the one Smash game where truly ANYTHING can happen.

A same sort of battle is happening over Sora and Geno VS Erdrick from Dragon Quest, but that’s a whole other post on its own

Wanna get this off my chest cuz it’s been on my twitter feed a few times. I read this article saying that Cuphead bears some deep seeded ignorance because King Dice and the art style came from an era where racist caricatures were prevalent back then. Now, I’m an African American that knows well about the pretty racist ideals of the earliest cartoon industry. Hell, I’m fully aware of Memin Pinguin, a Mexican originated character that I can arguably say is the most offensive looking character I’ll ever see. But I have a few points about this article...

Just because the Fleischer style of animation came from a racist era, doesn’t mean the art style is nor the content is because of the style. Again, I understand that blackface and minstrel gags were in Fleischer, WB, and Disney cartoons of that era, but that doesn’t mean that was all there was to the cartoons of that era. Cuphead never incorporates those gags in any place in the game, they just replicated the art style in an authentic manner. You can do that when creating a video game.

I guarantee nobody bought Cuphead expecting any “”woke”” connotation of its art style, no less demanded any. Just because we all have the ability to engage with art in a meaningful way, doesn’t mean we have to or need to with every piece of art, especially when it can amount to superficially finding an animated run-and-gun game to be bigoted because one of the people behind it said that Cuphead’s 1930s aesthetic “is just visuals and that’s about it. Anything else happening in that era we’re not versed in it.” I won’t tell people how to experience a game, but if you were seriously going into Cuphead with the ideal that it should have racially charged subjects to comment or think about, you’re honestly playing for the wrong reasons. That’s the equivalent of saying every season of Pokemon needed to PSA about animal cruelty in some way or it’s ignorant towards animal rights. Just because Cuphead doesn’t engage with the racial implications of the bygone era, doesn’t mean they’re trying to whitewash or erase the racial implications of the bygone era. That’s essentially trying to spin the creator’s vision to cry outrage which is dishonest as fuck.

Just because the game has motifs of gambling, doesn’t mean King Dice is the epitome 1930s stereotype of black people being lazy, sinful dice rollers, that is desperate logic. 

First of all, you wouldn’t recognize that King Dice is a homage to Cab Calloway unless you are familiar with the man himself, and even then the character is enjoyable with or without knowing the reference to him and is not depicted as a stereotypical caricature in any semblance. So you can argue that race had little to do with his design.

Secondly, King Dice is among a world of anthropomorphized objects, especially in his boss stage, and with the gambling motif, it’s fitting that the owner of a casino.... is a living die. I understand that black representation can be a reasonable addition, but I don’t see how King Dice can be depicted in any way that doesn’t just add to the stereotype. I mean if you take him out of the game, you’re essentially taking out the core theme behind the game. So you can argue that race had little to do with his design.

Third, even when King Dice is a considerable gambler, every other boss is too since the point of the game is that you’re taking the soul contracts of those that lost to the Devil. The tagline of the game is “Don’t Deal with the Devil,” no one is above the Devil’s influence as they make a choice to bet, not even his right hand man. And the majority of human boss characters are considerably white coded, so this goes against the idea of gambling in Cuphead being a full on black people thing regardless of the era it’s influenced from, meaning you can argue that race... had little.... to do.... with his design.

And if race was involved in his design, to me, to acknowledge that they got Calloway’s look down and his style in dance perfectly, and the fact that they got a black woman to respectively sing his theme with gusto more than makes up for any racist implications this character may have.

Trying to compare Cuphead to Jay-Z’s The Story of OJ is like comparing Watchmen to the fucking Powerpuff Girls. One wants people to understand or interpret a message with its imagery and lyricism, the other just wants to have a good time. You can appreciate both, learn about both, but one clearly isn’t trying to be all that serious as I’m certain no one is demanding it to. It’s not bleaching the past, but having fun with the good that came from it. This article almost sounded like it wanted racist things in Cuphead only for the game to point it out that it’s bad, thus earning brownie points.

Again, I find no wrong in understanding the racially charged history of the cartoon industry, especially knowing that diversity in media is far more and arguably better now than back then, but that is no reason to try and wag your finger at a studio that just wanted to game with a 2D art style of the past that people can play for 6 or so damn hours. I may be black, but do I have to be reminded or constantly remind myself that my kind was considered a burden to a good sum of people with any bit of media I consume? This article just felt like the author needed to say Cuphead of all things was problematic, make it appear bigoted for nothing at all. There’s a difference between being critical towards art and thinking something needs to be critically invoking. This ain’t it, chief.

All-Stars -Story Mode- [CHAPTER 7]

It’s been a whole day since we last heard of them, I think it’s time that we find out what happened next after I pulled in another chapter from Google Doc.

Waking up in another bunker

He had no idea how long he was sleeping after drifting out of consciousness, he was till he slowly drifting back into it til he’s fully awake and in shock as he rose up from the bed he was in.

He was breathing heavily as he looked around the unfamiliar room he’s in and looked for his brother, Frisk, Boris, anything! But… There’s no one there with him. Except-

Cuphead had noticed that beeping noise from the other room, the beep and long beep then it repeats it but in a different pattern. Werner had taught him that sound is the sound of a Morse Code. He can tell what it meant by the beeping:

Then a young lady’s voice answered the familiar Morse Code through the mic, ‘’Yeah, I’m here. Can you speak into the microphone please?’’

‘’Alright fine, I can trust them but don’t expect me to come yelling at you if they failed.’’ The woman maintained into the microphone. Then the voice gives a last message to her.

Cuphead then placed his hand on the bandages, even the one place where his eye was, has this woman saved him? If it is so, then where are his friends?

Despite being injured and cracked, he got out of bed and walked away from the room he’s in and into another where the lady’s voice is. When he peeked inside the room, there is a lady in there, with glasses, wore a purple collar neck button up shirt and a black skirt with black stockings (with a few tears on the right side) and heels. She had black hair and green eyes.

Cuphead had found himself looking at her for, what? 2 minutes? but to him it felt like 20 in total. He then thought to himself ‘’Is this the lady that saved me?’’ as he placed his hand on the cracked, bandaged eye as he wondered more: Is this woman ‘THE’ and underline ‘THE’, Mrs. Pauling?

She then felt like she’s being watched, she then slowly grabs a gun as she thought ‘’Please don’t let it be Radec…’’ then turned to point at no one, then looked down at Cuphead and jumped just a little.

‘’Holy shi- Uh…’’ she said as she looked at him, silence filled the room with awkwardness.

*Well, this is rather awkward now…

‘’Well…. I didn’t expect you to wake up…’’ She said as she lowered the gun a little, she is cautious and rather not taking changes to any human, zombie, cup or anything. Cuphead looked at her and can tell by her expression, he’s used to this behavior to the bosses since he and his brothers had lost the bet to the Devil.

‘’I didn’t expect to be here.’’ he replied, he slowly took his hand away from the bandage, feeling confused and curious about this situation.

‘’Uh…’’ she said as she scratched the back of her head, feeling like she’s going to upset him if she tell him what had happened but that to winch Cuphead asked ‘’W-where’s…’’

‘’You see…’’ she continued, ‘’Where’s Frisk? Mugs a-and Boris? Are they alright please?’’ he pleaded to her. ‘’Y-yeah… and no,’’ she answered ‘’They are okay after staining lot of injures but sadly…. They…’’ She hesitated before confessing ‘’They were captured by the… Helghast Soldiers.’’

‘’WHAT?!’’ Cuphead yelled as his only working eye grew wide as well with his straw turning into exclamation mark, ‘’O-oh no! H-How long was I out?!’’ he demanded to the strange woman who then answered ‘’Only 2 weeks.’’

‘’WHAAAT?!!?’’ he screamed but the woman laughed ‘’No, not really, it’s only been at least 3 hours after you’re knocked out by a bomb.’’ then she laughed.

‘’That’s not funny lady! That’s not funny!’’ Cuphead yelled at her before saying ‘’And about the person on the other line that does Morse code? Was that part of the hilarity?!’’

‘’Ha ha.. No, that’s not part of a joke to be honest, the Morse-Code-loving person saying that Colonel Radec guy… Whatever he is, is with a Empire to winch was run by someone named Visari, had Radec as his bodyguard and from what I can tell that I’m on the run from those guys.’’ she explained.

Cuphead looked at her with anger, ‘’And you aren’t there to save my friends? Some brave lady you are!’’

‘’I am so sorry but I can’t risk being seen by them.’’ She insisted, ‘’And from what I can tell you really wanted to rescue them now. But I’d can’t let you go if you healed first!’’

Exploring the Bunker

‘’I can heal myself after I rescue them lady!’’ Cuphead yelled again, ‘’Besides, what’s it take to stop me from do so?’’

‘’They can’t but I can.’’ the woman with glasses answered, ‘’There’s no point of stopping Radec ether, I have medicine that Medic had, come with me.’’ she continued as she walked out of the room and into the hallway with Cuphead following close behind her and beside her as they walked down the bunker’s hallway.

‘’Just who the heck are you lady? Are that Miss Pauling they were going to rescue you?!’’ Cuphead demanded, she nodded yes, ‘’Yeah I am, it’s unusual to see and meet someone like you being caught in the crossfire.’’

‘’My brother and friends had been captured in the crossfire! And you had saved me instead of all of them? I would’ve be captured with them for the sake of it!’’ Cuphead jeered Miss. Pauling who nodded as she understood of her actions. ‘’I do admit, it was a bad choice on my part to do so but you were injured- err, cracked even.’’

‘’I’ve been through worse Pauling!’’

‘’Listen, cupboy-’’

‘’Cuphead! Do I have to tell you my name to you?! CUP. HEAD!’’ Cuphead sneered as Miss. Pauling placed her hands behind her back. ‘’Alright Cuphead, let’s just calm down for a minute, I better get that medicine Medic had then I’ll let you go but with precaution this time. Deal?’’ She calmly offered to the cup who is breathing slowly.

‘’I…. I…..’’

Then he cried ‘’I just want my brother and my friends back.’’

Miss Pauling may be a type of person that should be emotionally disconnected from others but she had to comfort him so she kneed down to his lever and hugged him, rubbing his back a little.

Double Z’s Fourth Follower Forever!!

Four hundred. Four hundred followers. When did I start this blog? December 13, 2017. That’s four months. Four months. My mind is literally blown rn guys. Ever since I was young, my only dream was to make people smile. I literally cannot even fathom that my words make at least 400 people do that. If you literally told me as a child that I would enjoy writing, I would never have believed you. 

Anyway, the follower forever is going under the cut this time, because the last thing I want is to clog people’s dashes asdghjk

Let’s start things off with the blog that inspired me to join the rpc in the first place. They were recommended to me while I was more active on my Team Skull OC blog, and I would see their writing and was inspired to join once I knew I wanted to write for Cuphead. Miles of @gamblingcxp @playerxwo @islandkitsu @team-strife @vulpinewarrior and probably more that I can’t think of! Miles is honestly such a sweet heart, and such a supportive bean! I wouldn’t be anywhere close to where we stand now with out them! They deserve all the love and support in the world!!

Next is @plate-of-blins! Some of y’all know how selective I am with OC’s, but Blinchik is so creative and the mun is a freakin’ cinnamon roll! Not to mention clever and smart! English is well known to be one of the hardest second languages to learn, yet she speaks it so fluently and comprehensively! She probably speaks it better than some people who are native English speakers! Her and her OC deserve more love and attention!!

@djimmi-the-great-and-powerful. I’ve gotta be honest. Back in December, Djimmi was a somewhat forgettable boss for someone who hadn’t played it yet. I usually remembered bosses from their music after I bought the soundtrack, and Pyramid Peril was probably my least favorite. But now Djimmi’s a character I really love! Puphead too! You will absolutely adore their Puphead! Sweet wooden boi!! Mun is just an absolutely fantastic person too! Whether you need someone to laugh and make fart jokes with, or you need someone to give you advise, djimmi-the-great-and-powerful is a great partner and friend!! @askcupheadthings. Sweet boi. Sweet mun. Whether you need some angst in you life or ketchup, Taco Taako has got you freakin’ covered!! What can I really say about Taco Taako that hasn’t already been said? We may have disagreeing headcanons, but the fact that they are willing to make compromises and work with their partner is glorious! I personally think that’s what every partner should do when it comes to familial characters! Not only that, but they will go out of their way to make sure their partner is comfortable, which is so so important and admirable!! I know that @easyriches is on hiatus until they get out of school, but their mun is the frickin’ best! They’re so supportive and will never fail to make you laugh. Or scream. Usually at memes. Heck, they managed to start a war over “Milk and Cookies” vs “Cookie and Milk”...needless to say, I ended up firing them from cookies. They also combined Squeesh and Cronch to create ‘squonch,’ which I later found out upon listening to the sound effect for Goopy’s fight that it was the perfect onomatopoeia for a slime getting crushed by a tombstone falling from the sky. Who knew?

@cutieunderthesea is such a love honestly! I know we don’t talk or interact much, but I seriously love them, and love seeing them pop up in my activity feed! English is also their second language, but you probably wouldn’t have guessed that if they didn’t say so on their blog!! They’re much smarter than me, and they’re also learning how to code and stuff, which I think is really cool! They also run @sent-from-above

@dxmonsxcarnival is such a great friend that looks out for you!! I genuinely feel bad that our threads tend to get dropped before they even get started, but honestly, even if you don’t role-play much they are still a great person to talk to! I mean they keep a folder of cat images for their internet friends when they need a pick-me-up! How awesome and thoughtful is that?! They also run @shyxbrotherxmxgman and @scaredxsightless

@bashfulreptile and I haven’t known each other long, but I really like the way they portray the dragon bean!! I hope we talk more and have more threads in the future!!

@do-or-dice and I think so much alike when it comes to striving for accuracy of the times!! I even headcanon that the events in the game take place in 1934, making this blog take place in 1935- which just so happens to also be the same year that they write in! They’re super fun to share headcanons with too! I know I suck at talking friend, but I hope we interact more in the future!!

@inthediehouse aka @hornedheathen! So much potential for angst! I know I haven’t interacted with you Dice much, but I hope to change that at some point!! I really love our threads together and I hope these two fools can butt heads more in the future!!

I think this’ll be my cutoff on saying nice things because it’s been almost two hours since I started this I think. I’m only going to mention their personal since they run so many Cuphead side-blogs and I don’t know them all. I know they caused a bit of controversy a little while back, but given their young age, I’d say it’s more than excusable, and definitely worth giving them a second chance. @eye-tossing-ghostie is really such a nice person to talk to- again even if you don’t end up doing much role-playing. They’re kind and caring and they try their best to be calm and understanding. They really do mean well, and I think they deserve more patience than I see them get. They really are a nice kid, but they’re still growing an learning. I consider them a friend, even if we don’t talk or interact much.

Your favorite pub/dev is shady

I spend a lot of time dragging Publishers like EA, Activision, Ubisoft, and others. As warranted and deserved as it is, we can’t become too dreamy-eyed even in the cases of our favorite faces in gaming. So with this post, I wanted to take a rock to the stained glass windows of your favorite companies and some of mine. In the words of Run the Jewels “Kill your masters”.

Bethesda

Creation Club is one of the biggest issues beyond the more notorious faults of the infamous Bethesda. Creation Club is paid mods. I don’t care what Pete Hines says, when you pay money to modify the game it’s paid fucking mods dude. This is a direct encroachment on one of the best and most pure aspects of PC gaming. Modding turns games into different experiencing, fixes the bugs that a lot of their games ship with and never get fixed because it’s “part of the charm” or “just works”. Which brings me to my next point: Bethesda is the only studio in gaming that gets away with this every single time. Ubisoft put out AC Unity and was grilled for months after release about facial texture issues and whatnot. Everyone gets railed while Bethesda gets a pass every time. Also, can we talk about how one year ago from this E3 Bethesda was waving the single player flag as high and hard as they can? Only to bring out Fallout76 and it’s an online shared world game. I have no problem with doing things differently or moving in a different direction for a non-main title game. Perhaps maybe you should’ve held off on this for another year or two? Made it less of a surprise? I think a lot of fans will come around to this title but the sharp pivot is understandably jarring and Bethesda maybe should’ve anticipated that.  Alongside the mighty shitty practice of pre-ordering for a beta code....what the fuck kind of “money now” bullshit is that. That literally defeats the purpose of a beta for a lot of people. Getting to test out this wildly different experience is important to people that care about the franchise but just aren’t willing to pay for something they aren’t sure they’re going to enjoy. A reasoning that is perfectly understandable in my opinion. I love Bethesda but holy god do they get away with murder without so much as a strange look from the majority of people. 

Microsoft

I’ll get the obvious issue of console exclusives out of the way. This is straight up disgraceful the way they do the loyal fans of Xbox. Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, Forza Motorsport 7, Halo Wars 2, and Cuphead. Remove Cuphead from that list and it’s a little pathetic especially considering some big name exclusives they had for the 360 (Saints Row, DoA4, Fable 2, Lost Odyssey, N3). The Xbox One’s initial reveal and release state were woefully tone deaf. A sad attempt to pander to gimmicks that shouldn’t be the focus of a console: motion sensors and television streamlining. Yes, they eventually corrected that mistake but to even consider such a poor decision was clearly a poor attempt to reach everyone but gamers. This entire generation was a bit of a misstep, unfortunately, outside of the impressively powerful Xbox One X there is next to nothing for Microsoft to actually boast about outside of the new console benchmark. What games have they contributed to their fanbase and loyal customers? This aspect isn’t so much shady as it is dumb. From the release of the One X with no games. To the games they backed so fervently only for them to flop hard. It’s clear they’re working on it given the recent studio acquisitions and the shift in focus some studios are going to be making. Why they had to forsake an entire generation for this to happen is simply beyond me. 

Nintendo

Between their online service and the interesting terms/ conditions of said service. The shitty pre-orders they offer for said internet service which is one of the most insane requests of a company I’ve ever heard of. Can we talk about the vice grip on their content/IPs? Ever notice you don’t see much Nintendo content on YouTube? Seriously look up anything Nintendo and the new games many videos don’t feature unique gameplay. I’m not saying there aren’t any videos but it’s known that Nintendo can and will take down any video they see fit. Yes, it’s well within their rights as a company to do so. However, when Nintendo is doing it to fans, people who are trying to celebrate and appreciate what they’ve done, it comes across as wildly ungrateful. Especially when ya know, they wouldn’t be anything without the wildly enthusiastic customer base. Prime example: a YouTuber recreated the Bomb-omb Battlefield stage in Unity. It was nostalgic, beautiful, and kind of funny. What did Nintendo do? They order a DMC Takedown on the video. A harmless recreation video this wasn’t even any kind of playable game and wasn’t going to be. What was the point of this? Who benefits? They could’ve capitalized and got to work on a remake, tell me that wouldn’t sell. Instead, they insist on hurting fans for what boils down to free advertisement. I think Nintendo is so focused on being Nintendo that they’ve lost what it means to be...Nintendo. If that makes sense.

Sony

Sony has been hacked so many times I genuinely think Paul Blart runs their cyber security department. Sony needs to get their shit together in this area of their service ya know the cornerstone of the console in the modern era. Alongside that, Sony is very pressed on keeping their system and IP, and everything about it very isolated. Xbox and Nintendo are down for cross-play and Sony is sitting in the corner arms crossed not wanting to join in. When they know damn well that’s where all this is going anyway. Not to mention their strange aversion to modding on titles that lead to strangled communities in games like Skyrim and Fallout4. I’ve also already talked about PSNow v GamePass and how much better GamePass is despite it coming out years after PSNow. Yes this section is short but the problems are very big and potentially damaging to Sony and their reputation. They need to get on the ball or find themselves in Microsoft’s position come the next generation. 

Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar and 2k)

TTI as a publisher is deceptively devious. They lay low and in the background unlike EA making sure everyone knows when a subsidiary works on a game that it’s also theirs. Take-Two owns two very prominent developers in the industry (2k and Rockstar) and they know it because at every turn they are monetizing them. GTA 5 is amazing, GTA online is a pay to win crapshoot. Planes costing an upwards of 20 to 40 real-world dollars. The in-game currency is difficult to earn in massive quantities required to pay such exuberant price tags. The shark cards were so well implemented it made GTA the most lucrative entertainment franchise of all time. They were so successful that games like NBA 2k and Red Dead Redemption 2 will feature them. Games that do not need them at all and only make the games a lifeless money hole. RDD2 isn’t out but the publisher already stated that monetization was going to be a focus on their games from here on out.
