"What the hell are you listening to?" Eddie asked.
Steve looked up from the record player where he had just changed albums. He held up the cover for Eddie to see.
"GTR. Bet you thought I never listened to any good music."
"I still think you don't listen to any good music."
Steve put the album down and glared.
"Whatever, man, I bet you GTR is going to still be famous in 20 years and nobody will know who Dio or Metallica are," Steve said.
"So confident! Okay, I'll take your bet. If I win, we get married."
Steve did a double take. Had his curiosity and interest in Eddie been too obvious? Or was Eddie actually interested like Robin claims he is?
He flounders for a brief moment and then settles on, "do you think we would even be able to get married in 20 years?"
"I dunno, maybe. How about I bet you that in 20 years, nobody knows who GTR is and that we can get gay married."
Steve shrugged, unable to hide his smile. “Sure, bet is on.”

A Most Holy Man (13.15) is kind of a Bad Episode. There's no Cas, and there's an overlay of doing a Noir Episode in the way that Tombstone was a Western (just a little bit). It's an entirely human cast and those humans are predominately unlikable.
Coming through late series Supernatural and the understanding that Chuck is real changes things. It elevates a bad episode over just being bad writing on Meredith Glynn's[Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer] case; Which I don't want to believe because I have really enjoyed some of her other episodes. (I love Scorpion and The From and I love Charlie2.0 "Smash" Alice and if that's wrong I don't want to be right.)
[EDIT} Mis atrributed the episode, it turns out it was actually literally the first episode written by the new show running squad.
So all the stiltedness of the dialogue? The getting all over the place with no time passing? The fetch quest nature of it. The fucking nerd girl who ~loves~ the Supernatural? What the fuck was that. I physically recoiled.
The only answer I can accept is that this is intentional, and this is actually bad writing by Chuck. follow me here
In the overall arc of the season 13, we are seeing the actual worlds opening up, becoming a multiverse where God doesn't really have control. The realities alongside ours are literally are literally "Apocalypse World" and "The Bad Place". These are two different places.
God is off talking with Amara somewhere, going out further into the universe than he has been in a long time, and immediately the Empty and other holes in reality start popping up. Old characters come back, the world can completely change genre and there are places with real special effects to visit.
Imagine that God takes a glance back at his little ant farm, only to discover that his favorite little ants have set up a nice little 4 part quest for themselves, but there's also a lot of universe hopping and it's starting to get kinda gay and emotionally healthy (comparatively)
So he has to come in and take a whack at taking the wheel of the narrative. Something to get the blood pumping. An old school-adventure case! With a hot women! And instantly hate-able villains because they are fat and british! And a Mob guy! and some quips! and a guy who still has faith in gd, even if it is just a hunk of bone. Because you have to remember that the god of supernatural is a gd who changed his name to Chuck and doesn't really go in for worship. So Father Lucca Camilleri is very dedicated to doing actual good in the world and is considered something of a living saint in the story, and so is mostly focused on doing good things, and is not prescriptively devout. So the ideal follower that Chuck would write up if HE was writing it.
Which is sorta canon?
And this excuse could be whipped out for any one bad episode, but that is what this one felt like to me.

Interviews - Tanner Buchanan
Request-Hmm hi, I would like to make a request. I don't know if you write for Cobra Kai actors, but I would love for you to be able to write about a scenario where the reader is a member of the cobra kai cast and is invited along with Tanner and Xolo to participate in some videos on the BuzzFeed channel. (reading thirsty tweets and responding to fans while playing with puppies), and it's all super funny and among the three. By the way if you could make a Tanner × Reader I would love it, you can choose if they are going to be a couple or just friends who like each other and maybe the reader's name might be Mercy and that ends up generating several jokes among the rest of the cast.
Name/pronouns used- Mercy, She/Her
A/N- I love this request. Hope this is okay for you x
Warnings- mentions of adult themes (reading thirst tweets)
Word Count- 1,409
You had been invited to come to BuzzFeed Studios, along with your boyfriend Tanner, and Xolo. You had been told that you would be recording two interviews, one in which you would be answering fan questions with puppies, and the other you would be reading thirst tweets. Needless to say, it would be a fun day.
The third season of Cobra Kai had been released, and you were looking forward to some of the questions that would come up.
***************
The three of you were all sitting on the floor, there were puppies roaming around you. You had grown quite attached to one puppy in particular.
The interviewer started talking, addressing you all, “Ok, so are you guys ready?” You all nodded. “Do you guys hang out in real life?”
You started, “Well, Tanner and I live together, so yes,” you chucked, “but we do hang out with Xolo, sometimes. Like the other day, we came round to his house, and he was just sorta sitting there...” You, and Tanner started laughing, while Xolo put his head in his hands, groaning.
“...and like, he was playing Pokémon in his underwear, and like-” you completely broke down laughing, “He won his battle and he jumped up, and started doing like, the most ridiculous victory dance, -” you couldn’t stop laughing, so Tanner continued.
“He was dancing around- it literally looked like what that puppy’s doing, and then he like saw Mercy and I just staring at him, and then he just stopped, looked at us, and just went completely pale, and ran upstairs,” Tanner laughed.
“Your never gonna stop telling that story, are you?” Xolo asked.
“Nope!” You answered.
----
“Have any jokes been made about Mercy’s name?”
“Pretty much every day on set, someone will shout ‘No Mercy!’ and she’ll look around, and be like ‘What did I do?’” Xolo said. You and Tanner chuckled.
“It’s like a constant running joke,” you said, “Everyone will say ‘no’ in from of my name. It’s quite funny actually,”
----
“How did Tanner and Mercy meet, and how long have you been dating?”
“We met on set, I remember because it was Xolo who introduced us for the first time,” Tanner looked over at Xolo.
“Yeah, I already knew Mercy, so I was the one that introduced her to everyone. You guys like immediately hit it off too,” Xolo continued.
“Yeah, we did, and as for dating-” Tanner looked over at you, “Mercy will you stop getting distracted by the puppy?”
“Don’t you think he looks a bit like Xolo as a dog?” You said.
“What?” Xolo and Tanner said in sync.
“What? He does!” The other two laughed, “He has the same eyes, look,” You put the Puppy’s face next to Xolo’s. “See!”
“He does as well, oh my God” Tanner laughed.
“Yeah,” you said, cuddling the puppy, “and as for how long we’ve been dating: it’s been about 2 and a half years,”
----
“Have you kept anything from the Cobra Kai set?”
“No” Tanner answered, while playing tug of war with a puppy.
“I don’t think I have,” Xolo said, a little unsure.
“I have,” you declared. All eyes turned to you, “It was the studded boots that I wore in the school fight,” you said.
“How did you manage to get them?” Xolo asked, a little confused.
“Basically, I accidently kept them on when I left the set. I was going to return them, but they never asked, so I just...didn’t” You laughed.
“Wow... My girlfriend a stealer, I never would’ve guessed,” Tanner teased.
“Well, they never asked for them, so...” You said with a nervous chuckle.
“You just have to hope that they don’t see this and ask for them back,” Xolo pointed out.
“Oh yeah, I should’ve thought of that. Shh, don't tell them” You responded, while petting the puppy who was squirming in your lap.
***************
Your first interview had just finished, and You made a mental note to ask Tanner if you get adopt a puppy when you got home. The three of you were on your way to your next interview: Reading Thirst Tweets. You were a little bit nervous, as to what people had to say about you, but you were interested to see the boys’ reaction.
“Okay guys, the way this is going to work, is you’re gonna introduce yourselves and what you’re doing. Then we’ll get right into it, and you guys pick out tweets from the mug,” The interviewer stated, and you all nodded.
The cameraman started rolling, and Xolo started speaking, “Hi I’m Xolo Maridueña,”
“I’m Mercy Y/L/N,”
“I’m Tanner Buchanan. We are some of the cast of Cobra Kai, and we’re gonna be reading thirst tweets,”
“Let’s do it!” You shouted.
----
Xolo was first to read one out, “Xolo Maridueña could slap me in the face, and I’d still thank him. I’d be a bit worried if you thanked someone for slapping you in the face, but whatever rows your boat I guess,”
“I agree with that,” You said.
“What with the tweet?” Tanner questioned, looking at you confused.
“No! With what Xolo said about it” You voiced rather loudly, while Xolo snickered in the background.
“Good. I would be worried,” Tanner stated, and you laughed.
----
Tanner was next to pick one out, “I’m nervous to read these, cause my girlfriend is literally standing right next to me,” he let out a nervous laugh.
“Don’t be nervous, if anything I will find them funny,” You reassured him.
“Okay, here we go,” he started to read, “Tanner Buchanan is honestly so hot, I’d lick his feet if he asked me to. Um, I’m not quite sure what to think of that. It’s a bit weird, I’m not gonna lie.”
“Yeah, I was about to say that,” Xolo chipped in.
“I have no words,” You added.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t like it,” Tanner said, “Please don’t lick my feet,” He chuckled.
----
“Okay, my turn,” You picked a tweet out and read it aloud, “I don’t know about you, but I’d hope that Mercy Y/L/N shows me none while in the bedroom. Why did I just know that my name would play a part in this!” You remarked.
“I think we all did, to be fair,” Xolo voiced.
“It is a classic though,” Tanner pointed out.
You shook your head. “It is a classic, I will give you that,” You sighed, “You’d just expect people to be a bit more creative,” You noted.
----
Xolo picked one out again, “Oh Jesus, okay,” He uttered, and You and Tanner laughed. “I’m not even joking at this point, I want to lather Xolo Maridueña in hot fudge, and lick his-” he cut himself off, “ I think we all know what that says”
You and Tanner just laughed at Xolo’s flushed face. “Xolo, are you getting uncomfortable?” You giggled.
“No, I’m not uncomfortable, I just wasn’t expecting that” He exclaimed.
“Your reaction was just priceless,” Tanner mentioned, making you all let out a small laugh.
----
“Ooh Tanner. Are you nervous?” Xolo grinned. You laughed as he picked out a tweet.
“After Xolo’s one I am a bit,” He stated, “Okay. Would anyone else sit on Tanner Buchanan’s like it was your throne? No? Just me? Alright.”
“Well then...” You said, trying not to laugh.
“That’s an interesting take on things,” Xolo snickered.
“I don’t know how to respond to that, at all.” Tanner said, making you all burst out laughing.
----
“Okay, last one,” You picked one out, “I’m just gonna say it. I’d love it if Mercy Y/L/N would spit in my mouth. Okay... um, maybe take me to dinner first, then we can talk about it,” You laughed.
“Yeah, because you’ve always got to go out to dinner before you spit in someone’s mouth,” Xolo said with blatant sarcasm.
“Of course,” You replied, “Tanner what do you think?”
“All I can say to that is: fair enough,” He made you laugh, “I mean I can understand the appeal,” This comment made you all crack up into fits of laughter.
“I think Tanner’s taking notes” Xolo commented, still laughing.
----
“We have been the cast of Cobra Kai,” You started wrapping the video up, “Tanner has been very confused throughout this, and we have been emotionally scarred by BuzzFeed,” You ended.
It had been quite an eventful day, but fun. (and just in case you were wondering, Tanner agreed to getting a puppy with you)

I thought he could help us (Dean Winchester x Reader)
[Supernatural-Masterlist]
Summary: You were sure that you guys will never be able to beat Chuck, or better said, God. After literally trying everything, an idea popped into your head. Of course you would not tell anyone, knowing the guys, especially Dean, would freak out. So you did what you thought was right: sneaking out one night to go & talk to Chuck.
Words: 2,872
Warnings: angst, language, Chuck being Chuck, protective Dean, mentions of cheating, fluffy ending bc I can´t write a heartbreaking story
If you like my work & wanna support me: a coffee would be highly appreciated ❤
You should all be happy right now. Everything you had ever wanted was right in front of you. Dean, the best boyfriend you could have ever imagined. Sam, who was like a big brother to you. Cas, the awkward friend you had never wanted but also somehow craved. Last but not least, Jack, who you would die for in a heartbeat. Being hunters had never been easy. The supernatural beings that lived in the dark corners always haunting you but you learned to fight them. They were scared of your badass team, not the other way round. So why, why the hell did Chuck have to make life so much harder for you? A few years ago, you all got together to fight Amara only to find out now that he had everything planned out for you guys. How fucked up could one being be? And how fucked up was it that this being was the God out of everyone?
“This is useless!” you breathed out.
The entire team was seated in the library, desperate to find something, anything slightly helpful. This was how your days looked like if you did not have a case. Just sitting around the big ass table, reading lore & hoping you would find a clue how to defeat God. Defeat God...was that even possible? Right now, you were not so sure but you could not stop now. Not after everything you had been through. This should be easy, right?
“(Y/N)…“ Sam sighed. “We´ve been through this, haven´t we?“ he tried reasoning.
“Well, apparently this entire thing doesn´t help one bit. I don´t understand how you guys can just sit there & do the same shit over & over again. We´re fucked, okay? The sooner we realize this, the better.“ you started growing frustrated.
“Sweetheart…” Dean started speaking up.
“No, Dean! I´m tired. Clearly, reading books for days is not the answer. We need to start thinking outta the box, y´know?” you were hinting your idea but not daring to speak it out loud. They would kill you, for sure. Or ask if you were insane. How could you not in this situation.
“Out of the box...Means what exactly?” Dean looked at you in confusion, obviously not knowing what you were truly saying.
“Look, (Y/N), we have three hunters, a nephilim who is stronger than everything I´ve ever seen & an angel.” this was Cas´ voice that made you look up to him.
“We can do this together, (Y/N), I´m sure!” the confidence in Jack´s voice made you smile slightly. He sure was a little naive but he just wanted to keep the team positive which was cute, really.
“You know what, guys? I need a little break. You do, too. Let´s just stop for today, clear our heads & start again tomorrow. Now, how does that sound?” you faked a smile, unaware to the others. You had become quite trained in faking emotions. That came with being a hunter, you guessed.
The others nodded at you, closed their books & made their way out of the library.
It was 10 pm when you checked the time. As far as you could tell, the entire bunker was asleep, which was good considering the thing you were about to do. Looking over your shoulder, you saw Dean sleeping soundly. Ever since the two of you had started sleeping in one bed, the nightmares were not as frequent anymore. You silently made your way out of your shared room, only taking your phone with you. A few hours prior, you had already prepared an outfit & placed it in the garage. This way, you would not wake anybody. Still, while walking down the halls, you tried to be as quiet as possible, making sure nobody was up & wandering in the bunker. Arriving at the garage, you let out a breath you did not know you were holding. You started thinking now. Was this really the right decision? Everyone else would have said that you were about to commit suicide. On the other hand, you did not really have a choice. If you did not do this, you would die anyway. There was nothing left to lose. Stripping out of your oversized t-shirt you once stole from Dean, you imagined to conversation you were about to have. Then you stopped for a second. What if he decided not to show up at all? He was not able to track you guys, thanks to Cas who burned some sort of marks into your ribs. Throwing on your outfit, you knew you had to give it a try. Just telling him your coordinates, in a prayer, of course. He had to show up. Before the overthinking got the best of you, you tucked your phone in one of your pockets & made your way outside in the chilly air. Due to the adrenaline you felt, you could barely feel the coldness hitting your skin.
After a while of walking, a park bench came into your view. Right at a crossroad. You had never been there but that was what you wanted to achieve. Being as far away from your family as possible. There was not a single car which somehow comforted & scared you at the same time. Seating yourself onto one side of the bench, you fiddled with your hands in your lap. A few deep breaths steadied you & after a couple of minutes, you were sure that you were ready. It was now or never.
“Um...hi, God...Chuck, I mean. Here´s (Y/N), you know, the one who´s with the Winchesters & stuff. I know you can hear me & you´re probably asking yourself why the hell I decided to pray to you. Funny enough, I´m sorta lost. We are, actually. I know you could kill me if I give you my location now but honestly, I don´t really care right now. Look, I just wanna talk, okay? I´m alone here, it´s just me & I hope you are open to talk to me here, Collar Road 16. I´ll be here until the sun starts to rise. If you don´t show up, okay, that´s fine but I would really appreciate it if you decide to come. I´ll be here.” your voice was low, scared that someone would hear you even though you were completely alone. Checking your phone, you had no new notifications. Perfect, you managed to sneak out. It was Chuck´s turn now. The sunrise was hours away so you hoped he would come & talk to you (& not kill you, that would be nice).
Seconds turned into minutes & minutes into hours. You started losing hope. How dumb were you to think God wanted to talk to you when you were literally trying to find a way to kill him?
“Kinda dangerous for you to be here alone, without your boyfriend to protect you, don´t you think?” Chuck´s voice startled you & you looked at him in surprise. Not wanting him to sense your nervousness, you cleared your throat & straightened your posture.
“I can handle myself, thanks for your concern.” smirking at him, his eyes bored into you which sent a shiver down your spine. You felt so uncomfortable under his presence that you almost forgot the reason you two were here.
“Attitude, I see.” he chuckled.
“You were busy, huh? Letting me wait for so long.”
“Actually, no. Just wanted to test your patience.” Chuck had so much fun & your anger started to rise. You knew though, that one wrong word could have you killed so you took a deep breath.
“I wanna talk to you.” you stated the obvious.
“I figured that much. So? Go ahead.” Chuck turned so his body was facing you, signaling you that he was paying attention to what you wanted to get off your chest.
“I´m pretty sure you know about our little...plan to, well, you know...stop you?” the last part came more out as a question, not wanting to cross any lines. He was God after all. He raised his eyebrows, motioning for you to continue.
“I´m not gonna lie, we didn´t find shit, okay? Like, we´re stuck. And I hate the fact that we´re at a point where almost everyone thinks the only solution is to fight each other. Yeah, I don´t agree with everything you did but that doesn´t mean that I´d like to kill you. You´re God, after all, you created this beautiful place which does have flaws, I´m not gonna deny that.” Chuck let out a laugh at that & you kept going.
“I´m tired of keeping this fight up. Hunting the supernatural, I´m fine with, I can deal with that but fighting against you? That´s something I really don´t wanna do.” you rambled. Even tears started forming, you did not want to cry in front of him but you could not hold back any longer.
“Who knows you´re here, talking to me?” he completely ignored everything you just said & earned a confused look from you.
“Really? That´s what matters? Nobody, okay? I didn´t tell anyone because I knew they would try to stop me somehow. Could you, like, give me any reaction to what I told you?” the frustration was audible & the tears now were forming because of his ignorance.
“(Y/N).” he started. “I hope you know that, out of all of them, I like you the most. That´s why I came here, that´s why I let you talk. Would Sam or Dean sit here, I´d kill them, well, obviously making it look like an accident, I´m not dumb. You´re special, (Y/N), you should be grateful you´re still alive. I´ll give you a choice. Either, you start working with me & you´ll see why I act that way or...you´re going back to your boys & we´re officially at war. Just know, if you walk away now, I won´t be as kind. Your decision, darling.” he shot you a smile but stopped when he saw the rage inside your eyes. He thought you would join him, he really did. You knew your answer, though.
“Fuck. You. You. Asshole.” your voice sounded monotone. You could not look at him anymore, all you did was getting up & running away as fast as possible, scared that he might follow you. Obviously, he did not. You made your choice & even though he was mad at you, he knew preparing for the fight was a better idea.
While you were running, the tears streamed down your face. Why were you so upset with Chuck´s answer? It was not like you did not know him & his intentions. You just truly thought you could change him. The sun had already started rising & you just hoped you were not too late. You were not in the mood to come up with a lie when someone of the guys asked you where you were. Forgetting you should enter through the garage because it was way more quiet, you opened the main door, flinching when it squeaked. But before you could even process that, you could hear a rather mad voice from downstairs.
“Look who decided to show up.” Dean sounded so cold, you could barely recognize his voice. Looking down, you saw Sam, Dean, Cas & Jack all seated around the big table in the main room. Shit, you were gone too long. Of course, your day could get worse, amazing.
“Guys, I can explain, I swear.” honestly, you just wanted to win time to think of a lie to tell them.
“Cut the crap, (Y/N)!” Dean almost screamed. “Get down. Now.” his voice was demanding. To be honest, you were never scared of Dean but right now, you could feel yourself shaking.
“Dean, calm down, okay? Let´s talk about it like matures.” Sam always made sure you felt comfortable & right now, he could tell you were frightened.
“Calm down?! Sure, everyone would be completely calm if their girlfriend sneaks out at night & screws another man.”
“Dean? Are you saying I´m cheating on you? Are you serious? After everything you still don´t trust me?” you were full on sobbing, trying to keep yourself together but failing miserably.
“I wish I could say I trust you but it makes sense, really. You being so distant lately & now, sneaking out in the middle of the night, hoping none of us realizes. You´ve got to be a bit smarter, though.” Dean was hurting but he did not dare to show it, wanting you to feel bad.
“(Y/N)? You do owe us an explanation.” Cas´ voice was calm & made you feel a bit more at ease.
“Maybe she should just go back to whoever she was fucking, that´s better for all of us.” Dean said these hurtful words without even looking at you. He hated seeing you break down like that. You were taken aback. Dean, your Dean, wanted you to leave. This was all a big misunderstanding. As much as you hated it, you knew you had to clear things up. If you were about to leave, then at least with making sure Dean knew you were not cheating on him.
“Please...let me explain, please.” pleading, you looked over to Jack but he would not meet your gaze. Your eyes wandered off to Sam´s & he was the most understanding in this situation which you were thankful for.
“Sit down, yeah?” Sam pulled a chair out for you to sit. The others took the chairs opposite of you so you were facing them all. Well, not all, Dean´s eyes were glued to the floor & you could not even be mad at him. You were aware of his trust issues, of course.
“I´ve been distant because we were continuing a work that brought us nowhere. I tried figuring out what we could do to...to keep this upcoming fight away. I knew the only way was to talk to…um, you know, to talk to God.” that made Dean snap his eyes towards you. No, you did not. You looked into his eyes, seeing the disappointment & that hurt you like crazy.
“Um, anyway, I waited until you guys were asleep to go out & talk to him. Obviously far, far away from the bunker, I didn´t wanna bring you guys in danger.” while you said that you made sure to look rigt at Dean so he knew you were mainly talking about him.
“He showed up after I prayed to him. We talked, well, more like I tried to convince him to stop this stupid fight. All he said was that I could join him & work with him or I go back to you guys & the next time he sees us...he´ll kill me, us. Then I started running back home, he didn´t follow me if you´re concerned about that.” you hated how your voice shook trough your words. You were met with a silence but not a bad silence, the faces of Sam, Cas & Jack were full of relief. Mainly because you were alright but also because they knew you just wanted to help. Dean´s expression, on the other hand, you could not quite read.
“We´ll leave you two alone for now.” & with that Sam got up & rubbed your back. He motioned for Cas & Jack to follow him. Now, you were left with Dean only. Not knowing what to do, you decided to speak up.
“I´m sorry, De-.” but you were cut off by his voice, now much softer as earlier.
“He could´ve killed you, sweetheart. He could´ve killed you & I wouldn´t even have had a chance to say goodbye. The thought of losing you scares the shit out of me, okay?” Dean´s eyes were glistening & you felt bad that you were the reason why he felt that way.
“I´m so so sorry. I shouldn´t have done this, I know. I just...I didn´t know another way. I thought we had a chance if I go talk to him. I was wrong & I´m sorry I scared you. And I´m even more sorry that you thought I´d be cheating on you. I love you, Dean. Only you. Forever, I promise.” a few tears rolled down your cheeks & Dean got up, walked over to you & took you in for a long hug. You cried into his shirt, just glad he was with you.
“I know why you did it, I do. You always want to make it easier for us & I appreciate it. Just, next time you have such an idea, promise me you tell us, me at least. Then we can work something out, together, something way safer, okay? Just promise me.” he whispered into your ear, his words carefully chosen, wanting to make sure you knew how much he felt for you.
“I promise, Dean.” you looked up at him only to find his eyes already focused on you.
“I love you, (Y/N).” & with that, he pulled you in for a kiss that showed you how much he cared for you. Maybe you could not convince God but you had the best people & you were sure you would figure something out sooner or later.

I’ve been rewatching Better Call Saul one episode per day, and last night I watched the final episode of season 3. The part of Chuck McGill’s story here may be my favorite bit of writing in the whole series that I’ve seen so far (I haven’t started on the season coming out now) and some of the best television drama writing I’ve ever seen. I remember being very affected by it when I saw it the first time, but this time around, even though I recalled beforehand exactly what was going to happen, it may have hit me even harder.
[Content warning: the content is disturbing, and a major season 3 finale spoiler. The season coming out right now is season 5 and the episode I’m discussing here is from 2017 I think, so most people really invested in BCS have probably already seen it, but in case you haven’t seen BCS and are thinking of diving into it while stuck at home with your Netflix (a move I highly recommend), I really wouldn’t want this plot twist to be spoiled for you by my post.]
The part of Chuck’s story I’m referring to is his final demise, which starts just after being forced to leave the firm he helped build and (1) Jimmy visits him with an olive branch hoping to open a conversation that will mend their relationship and Chuck says literally the most harmful possible things possible to Jimmy, his last words to Jimmy being “To tell the truth, you never mattered all that much to me”; (2) Chuck, who had finally managed to completely cure himself of his “allergy to electricity”, begins to suffer a relapse that evening; (3) Chuck’s relapse has spiked so severely by the next day that it drives him to go on a desperate rampage to literally tear apart his own house looking for any wires that might still have some current; and (4) Chuck, sitting half-asleep in the midst of his now dilapidated home, sends it up in flames by kicking his gas lantern off the table.
This is a really chilling depiction of a particular mental illness which rears its head so violently that it possesses its victim to completely and utterly self-destruct within the span of little more than a day. This is also perhaps the most poetic demise of a character that I’ve ever seen on television, and masterfully written.
The “poetic” way to interpret this is that Chuck’s extreme sensitivity to being near electrical currents is a something almost supernatural, loaded upon him by some karmic force and relieved only by profound mental and spiritual effort on Chuck’s end. Chuck has finally managed to throw off the shackles of this curse at the time of Jimmy’s final visit. Then Chuck makes the devastating choice of pushing away the lifeline being offered to him -- the opportunity to rebuild a bond with his brother, the very last bridge that he hadn’t already burned -- and he does so in the cruelest way possible. This destructively cold-hearted act circles around and returns to Chuck in the form of his old curse, now redoubled in strength, which squeezes all his remaining spirit out of him.
There is of course an alternate interpretation better grounded in realism. Namely, Chuck’s so-called “allergy to electricity” is purely an illusion generated by his brain (as was more or less proved earlier in the season, even enough to kinda-sorta convince Chuck himself). With a lot of hard work, Chuck seems to have totally kicked this issue. But then he chooses to respond to Jimmy’s efforts at making peace in an utterly destructive fashion that part of him deep down is extremely harmful not only to Jimmy but to himself, and this affects his mental state in such a way that it triggers a resurgence of the mental illness that he thought he had vanquished.
I like putting these two interpretations side by side, because I sometimes see struggles in real life with this duality as well: I have relatively modest experience with mental illness, but what firsthand experience I do have has always felt like this: on the one hand there is a scientific explanation in terms of chemical activity in the brain, which I certainly believe in, but on the other hand the experience feels very much like the presence of something not within but without, some cloud that temporarily settles over all of perceived reality and then eventually drifts away on its own whim.
The final Chuck scenes in Better Call Saul depict this in a way that’s hard to watch but which I find devastatingly beautiful beneath the superficial grittiness that is part of the Breaking Bad brand.

SPN 14x20: a few (i.e. many) thoughts
Writers lie.
But, they lie in order to tell a greater truth.
At least, that’s how the proverbial wisdom goes anyway. After this episode, however, I’m not entirely sure I know what Chuck’s truth is supposed to be.
“Endings are hard. Any chapped-ass monkey with a keyboard can poop out a beginning, but endings are impossible.”
That’s my all time favorite quote from the series. Along with the addendum endings are a raging pain in the ass. Ever since his introduction, I’ve always felt an affinity for Chuck’s character. He’s a writer. So am I. He vocalized a not insignificant part of that experience. Reconciling the pain characters you create and love have to go through to get them from point A to point B. The difficulty in wrapping up a story. Hell, critics. It’s one of the reasons Metatron always drove me a bit nuts during his play at godhood. All of the technique, but none of the artistry.
I guess what I’m trying to get at is Chuck’s turn to villiany hurts a little. It’s brilliant beyond all belief, don’t get me wrong! What better way to get across the theme of free will on a meta-narrative level? But within the SPN universe it just feels anti-thetical to the story he’s been “telling”. An honest to god betrayal of it.
Don’t get me wrong. I can buy the avoided apocalypse (the first one at least) was Chuck’s intent all along. He wanted Sam and Dean to choose family. He created free will so it could be used. It plays seemlessly into the parental metaphor they’ve also attached to him. The kids have got to grow up sometime. And part of growing up means cleaning up your messes on your own. Which the Winchesters do...a lot.
This sudden shift in attitude, though, just doesn’t make sense to me. It’s less writing an ending as crumpling the document and throwing it away. If the multi-verse is supposed to represent drafts, then Chuck is the kind of writer who keeps ahold of them because some element in one could make another better (and now bringing all the alt-hunters back make sense on a meta level and my head hurts). The point is, if SPN is his final draft or his favorite why destroy it?The characters’ didn’t do what you wanted ? That’s half the fun of being a writer! The unexpected twists of creation! Inspiration turned to life! It makes no sense.
And so I tried to look at it from the God-angle perspective and it still doesn’t make sense. Chuck doesn’t change. Like he told Lucifer he’s pretty much the same as he’s always been. Yes, there’s the Old Testament’s wrathful side. The fire and brimstone and punishment, but even in the Bible that’s balanced with compassion and forgiveness. There’s the Chuck whose solution has always been: build a bigger box. The one who fought for creation to be born. Not made, born. The one who could be reasoned out of apparent wrath because the point was the lesson (the truth) he was trying to get across. And then I remembered his exchange with Castiel...
Chuck: See this is why people need to lie. It’s good. Keeps the peace, you know?
Castiel: Seems like an odd stance for...you.
Chuck: Is it? I’m a writer. Lying is kinda what we do
Chuck is God’s lie.
That is, it’s the mask he wears to keep the peace. It’s his way of walking away and letting the kids learn (and in many ways blossom) for themselves while still supervising. It’s something Metatron calls him out on when they meet in season 11 to discuss Chuck’s autobiography. Specifically, Metatron notes the emphasis on time spent in the Chuck persona was being used to hide the truth. And, it’s a truth Chuck readily confesses to Sam in the Bunker.
Jack told the universe to stop lying. Chuck comes back immediately in full father-mode. The father who demands obedience over the growth of the children (hello, season 1 & 2 parallels). These are not coincidental. Now, sure Chuck could fix creation, but could he do the same for himself? Evidence suggests...not so much. And, based on the look Billie gives Jack in the Empty, the kid done fucked up something. That was not a happy look.
So where does this leave us?
Well, with a zombie apocalypse in the immediate future and lots of ghosts to deal with next. More importantly, though, it looks like the boys may be on a mission to stop or save God himself. It’s...it’s a hell of a way to go out. The writer in me is very proud.
Before I wrap this up, though, a few thoughts on TFW 2.0:
First, I called it with Dean. Again, not a surprise. As I said, he needs to get to the edge before he can back off from it. That said, this episode wasn’t without some painful moments for him. As some of you may know, I’ve started rewatching and reviewing old episodes of SPN in preparation for the series finale. A bit serendipitous given recent events, but as part of that I rewatched episode 1x03 recently. Dean’s speech about Mary being his hero is so similar in tone to the speech he gives Lucas (the kid with the psychic link to the lake ghost) about his belief in Mary wanting him to be brave. It physically hurt to watch. The facade hiding the pain of Mary’s second death publicly cracking in a way similar to the facade hiding the pain of her first. But it also made me really excited to complete this review series and pull out those hidden parallels. Also, don’t think for a second I won’t point out how much of a nerd Dean really is. I have said it for years and now I feel vindicated!
On a more serious note, I don’t know what to say about Jack. Seeing him dead hurt (the only tears I shed in the finale to be honest). But this season left off with so many unanswered questions. Just how powerful is this kid? What are the Shadow and Billie planning? What is with Halucifer 2.0? How the fuck do souls actually work? And I’m still trying to get my head around his self-prophecy to Cas. A perfect world has always seemed, again, anti-thetical to the point of the story. The power of choice means things can’t be perfect and the only way to bring about perfection is to rob creation of choice. It’s a constant battle the Winchesters have had to fight. I’m cautiously intrigued to see how this storyline is going to be fulfilled.
So let’s talk about Sam. I knew the kid was in a bad place going in to this episode, but...DAMN!
I’m pretty solidly in the camp he wasn’t intending to kill Chuck with that wave of multi-dimensional hoo-haa. Sam’s only ever been that bad of a shot during the trials when he was sick. Still the fact he even tried it...This might be the one thing I can’t forgive Dean for this season. Even when the boys have been at their worst, Dean still allowed Sam to talk.To get his grief out. There’s been no relief since Mary’s death and Sam’s journey has inevitably played into a point I made reviewing Absence(14x18). The boys are used to dealing with death as a matter of consequence, not an accident. Which is why Sam is currently blaming himself for what happened. While it’s true Jack’s storyline for the season contributed towards Mary’s death, it’s something that could have happened regardless of if he had a soul or not. There’s no cosmic choice involved. But add it to the list of things that have gone wrong this season, and it makes sense for Sam to shift the blame to Chuck when he realized he’s been watching and apparently not doing anything (something we’ve known about Chuck for practically forever).
It’s something people do when bad things happen all the time in the real world. Chuck could have been less of an ass explaining why he couldn’t help, but he’s sorta not...wrong. Assuming he didn’t interfere with Jack to kick this mess off (and I hope to God that is not the case), it all goes back to free will. Sometimes bad things just happen. Sometimes Someone makes a stupid mistake in the heat of moment, and you just have to live with the aftermath. That said, I just kind of want to wrap the moose in a bunch of blankets and keep him protected in the Bunker forever and...
And so finally, we come to Cas. My sweet, awesome fucking angel/best dad in the whole universe. Cas wins the whole season! Give him all of the awards! The poor angel has been putting out fire after fire and I love him for it as much as I’m still terrified for him. It does crack me up a little that everyone got so pissed at the boys last episode for the Ma’lak box, and yet Cas is literally thinking of putting Jack in the Cage this episode. Like father, like son I guess. Yet, it’s clear his intention is to save him. Cas isn’t blind to the danger Jack poses, but his aim is to just contain him till a cure can be found. Not a great solution but the only one we have at the moment. And can we talk about that scene in the graveyard! Perfect imagery of a father being strict but compassionate towards his son who screwed up. All of the awards! All of them!

I stumbled upon a forum and started reading through some MM threads. One anonymous poster had some interesting things to share in a thread from late September 2018:
So, I volunteered/worked for the DOS during the end of her toronto years and the transition. I don't like to bash black industry because I feel it's vital for us to make our own opportunities and grow our own wealth, but this tea is absolutely true, and then some. Certain power players would absolutely fawn over her when they met her with her ex husband and when she went to audition would literally laugh in her face. I will defend her against anyone calling her a hooker. That's absolutely untrue. She made a lot of her extra money by befriending fashion people and ultimately getting paid for appearances at dinners/red carpets. She was an opportunist, but honestly if it were a dude, we wouldn't be judging him the way people judge her. I can honestly say that the relationship timeline given to the public regarding Harry is false. If you find that interview with her ex's mom and read between the lines, you'll see it. She has historically not been great with timelines. If people have questions I can answer a few. I'm still in touch with her because I've moved on to work for her friend who is very much in touch with her.
.....
So she and CV (the ex) were as good as engaged even around the end of April - they were both at my birthday dinner. CV is engaged to a singer and they have a baby on the way - that's how ready he was to start a family. He's a really good guy. Even now when I go in to one of his joints and he's around we chat and he offered his family vacation home for me to take my mom for a week. I don't often say this about white men, but I really respect him, he reminds me of my dad. It's a little hard to believe now, but she was more of an earthy Cali girl pre-prince, so they weren't super serious about a formal engagement. CV was totally head over heels and the only reason they were waiting was bc meg really wanted to branch into movies and do something meaningful before settling down with kids and moving into a travel/food show. "Think Bourdain meets Nora Ephron meets hippie chic" is what I wrote in my notes when we were writing up a proposal. I was actually really excited about it, I was going to work on the show. Priyanka Chopra has sorta copied the idea and but changed it so she meets famous people lol. (I have PC tea too, someone point me to a thread and I'll post). Prinze was seeing someone. I hope you'll respect that I won't spill bc that could get me into real trouble. He and nutmeg actually met in the run up to invictus, she "wanted to help" but this is code for wanted to make connections. When they met sparks flew and basically she was like damn issa prince and made her moves accordingly. There was a month between the breakup and the first date and the breakup actually wasn't "final" it was "just a break." She said she was feeling like she was in a rut. From date #1 onwards it was a whirlwind. It was really lovely to watch two people fall in love but very tough bc I knew what had gone down prior. As far as I know she is not pregnant, she is doing IVF though and it has caused a little bloat. That's why her clothes are rarely fitted. She'll be pregnant towards the end of the Aussie tour if all goes as planned. She is very calculating but I really respect her game. For example, that story about the corgis laying at her feet was planted bc white people love anything to do with dogs (I mean, so do the rest of us but white people don't have great attention spans, let's be totally real). She has a natural strategic intelligence from her mother. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her mother. Oprah and Iyanla got nothing on her, imo. This prince thing is the first time ms.meg did someone dirty since I started working for her. She secured the bag, so good for her, I guess.
.....
Made moves - set up the Wimbledon appearance and "happened" to be at the soho house hotel so prinze and her could see each other again. It's a hotel that the public doesn't have the same kind of access too.
.....
about the engagement interview, and the corgi anecdote:
Oh girl, you don't even know what I did for that interview. Just because Harry told the story doesn't mean it wasn't planted. They planted in the interview so that people would go "aww." Think about the placement of that anecdote - right after they spoke about meeting family and how they'd spent a lot of time together in the past 1.5 years. The story was to push that narrative over the edge by associating it with a sweet story.
.....
Someone replied that MM was in Mexico when PH was in Toronto ahead of IG:
My girl, this doesn't mean we didn't reach out and get in touch with the invictus team. The Internet issa crazy thing!
.....
Whether PH knew about CV:
I actually don't know much about this side of the story - I worked for the DOS, not the prince. I never had access to her personal texts or anything. From what I felt though, I don't think he knew exactly how serious they were
.....
Sure! Auntie Dee has been through a lot in her own life. People haven't looked much into her own childhood, but there was family tension and abuse, but she never let that get her down. She was quick to compliment on good character "thank you for your honesty" "thank you for your grace" "i admire your strength." She really is crazy about yoga though, she says it helps preserve the body. She is not at all judgmental to people who do yoga the first time, including myself, and doesn't like that white women culture vulture yoga from Indians - she is fierce about respecting heritage. She loves gardening. She is lowkey a very strong Christian...idk how that fits with yoga tbh but she's cool with it. She is completely self-made and raised up several black women and other women of color in her professional life (yoga and social work and other artistic endeavours)
..... About the article with CV’s mom : “Mrs Vitiello surmises that Meghan and Cory had been apart for about three months before she first met Harry.”:
Regarding that Daily Mail article: the specific wording is surmised. The meaning of the word surmise is to suppose something is true without having the evidence to confirm it. I know the person trying to poke holes in my tea won't believe it, but that specific word was fought over and eventually money was paid in order for that specific word to be used.
.....
I could be wrong here - I'm definitely not in her inner circle anymore (professionally there is no real room for upward movement, I started working for her blog so I could eventually work in digital publication and PR). I also know nothing about IVF - I just heard from my boss (her friend) that it causes bloat and it's really unfair that people judge her. I know for sure she is on IVF bc she needed an injection during her trip to Toronto and her PPOs were unhappy and my boss talked about it a lot.
.....
There are a lot of royal "rules" that the family must abide by that aren't normal for you and me, including medication. The physician must be present alongside the assistant to ensure that the shot has not been tampered with, etc. Remember, British royalty goes back to the days of people poisoning each other regularly, there are still archaic rules. I don't know more than that, I'm only peripherally in her life anymore.
.....
someone asked about PH/MM’s dynamic:
I only saw the beginning, until the move to London. They are both demonstrative, but just from knowing her, I can tell she's a little more cautious in public - she doesn't want to seem too American/gauche. She'll probably relax as she has kids and sinks into her role, you know? It's tough to be totally yourself when you have so many eyes on you.
.....
Do the BRF like MM?
All I've been told is that they love her but they way it's been said seemed like the person who said it was trying to convince themselves as well as me. From emails and coordination purposes, "the firm" aka the staff took to her really well and Prince Chuck liked her a lot too.
.....
What happened in Toronto with photographers before PH made his statement?
People were trying to break into her house and get onto the Suits set. She jetted to London one evening and eight hours later the statement had been released. It was released like 6 AM ET, I believe.
.....
Her husband, as far as I know, was not a good dude. She never went into specifics but the person who worked for her prior alway said to forward any emails from him to her lawyer. Their relationship was not good.
.....
About Suits, and were other family members at her wedding:
She speaks to the women and Rick, not so much Patrick and Gabe but was genuinely on good terms with everyone. I think she misses it, she tries to be normal by going about doing the same things she did in Toronto but I don't think it's the same. It's okay, she's a princess, she'll survive. Other family members were there, yes.
.....
Oof, where you got all this sourness from? No bankruptcy, no jail (though she did work at correctional facilities). I think the living with her dad thing was just because of proximity to her school. I believe she spent Friday to Sunday evenings with her mom.
.....
Her offering help with IG:
So she was not volunteering the way you or I would volunteer, but she was reaching out to ask whether she could lend her knowledge of Toronto and relationships with people there to help make things run smoothly. It's not really work, it's basically just talking lol. All these celebs who say they are the UN ambassador for whatever just go on paid vacations to poor folks' homes and film themselves being selfless aka playing with kids and then "lending their support" aka throwing a bit of money or "having high-level conversations." They were both in relationships at the time they first connected and the time they first met. She was looking to see if there was an opening for her, if that makes sense. The "first date" they talk about combines their first meeting and then the actual date after he expressed interest (they broke up with others to date, but remember, DOS told her ex that it was a break because she felt she was in a rut and not feeling connection with him). They definitely were texting a lot before the real first date.
.....
I never heard anything about this - if it's true, my apologies to the poster. I did not know everything about their lives. Doria did not strike me as someone who would file for bankruptcy but I know that many people "aren't the type"
.....
As far as I know Kate is cordial to DOS but you would really expect her to make more of an effort. There seemed to be some jealousy/distrust apparently.
....
is she close with doria?:
I think they played up the closeness a bit during the "courtship" but from what I saw, they certainly became closer during that time too. I can say that she had been taking care of her mom financially when I was around.
.....
I know when she gets angry she tears up and gets very quiet.

Unexpected Family Issues [Requested]
This is my first requested story! I was really excited to get this one so thank you Anonymous! This one is entirely in Jerome’s point of view, and sorry that it takes awhile to get into it, I think I went on a bit of a writing tangent. Oh well.
Note: Sorry Anon if it took awhile to get into, but I wanted to get some depth in it first. Thank you again!
Summary: Jerome has just been thrown into Arkham after confessing to the murder of his mother but gets an unexpected visitor. [Set in Season 1 of Gotham]
The loony bin’s different to what I imagined. It’s on the verge of being completely sterile, but not what you’d expect. It’s never really clean, not like that’s ever bothered me anyway. I’ve been here for a grand total of, drum roll please… one week! And I swear to God, if you’re not already crazy, this place will finish the job! Inmates screaming, moaning and whimpering like sissies all night. All the time. Always feeling eyes on the back of your neck, watching your every move. There's not even any buggin’ privacy. I’m about to lose my patience with all of it.
As soon as I got here they gave me my assigned clothes, (some stupid black and white shit) and chucked me into a straight jacket. Can you believe that? Apparently, I’m a complete madman. Ha! Not likely. If I was a wacko, I wouldn’t be able to own this place near as much as I do now. The inmates either hate me, are scared of me, or decided to “ally” with me. This one dude, Richard Sionis, he’s alright. Gets you whatever you need from outside. Made my life easier. Dunno how he does it though. Still working on that.
Anyway, once I was in the jacket, two guards got me into some sort of interrogation room. Stupid really, I’d already been interrogated by Detective James Gordan. Quite prestigious ol’ Jimbo… and a complete asshat to boot.
They shoved me down onto one of the metal chairs and chained my ankle to a metal loop in the concrete floor.
“Thanks, boys. Your guidance is appreciated.” The two guards ignored me and closed the large, barred door. Seriously, where are the manners in this place? I leant back into the chair and looked around. Concrete bricked walls, except that one that just like a huge fence from the ceiling to the floor where the guards stand… and watch. I was sitting at a metal table, with a chair on the other side. I tried whistling, but one of the guards told me to shut up real quick. Finally, a doctor came in. I decided to see what made her tick too.
“Thank you for time doc. But some punctuality would be appreciated,” I pasted on a smile and tilted my head. She looked up at me and shook her head and just looked down at her clipboard.
“Jerome Valeska, eighteen years of age, convicted of matricide, determined insane.” She looked up at me.
“Ha! Insane? Hahahahaha! I’m not a crazy doc, just little more... open minded than most.”
It went on like that for awhile. The bloody doctor tried finding my motivations for killing my mum, (she was a nagging, drunken whore, that’s why. Duh). What I thought of the conviction blah, blah, blah. Pretty boring. Not that I gave her much. She then asked about family members,
“Do you have any other family aside from your past mother that you know of?”
“You mean that dead whore? Not really. Well, turns out my dad’s not a dead sea captain, but an old, blind creep that makes his living by making up stories and rhymes.”
“No other family?”
“I just answered doc, what’d you want me to say? 'Mummy didn’t want me to know anything about our family. She was mean, and I didn’t like it.’ Per-lease. As if I could care less.”
“Right, well then. We're done here. Thank you for your time” Ha! As if I’d had a choice.
With that, she just walked out, guards threw me into my pathetic excuse for a cell and went on their merry way. Haven’t heard from her for the whole week. Now, I make it my goal to annoy everyone as much as possible. It’s great. Inmates, guards, nurses, you name it! Oop. Here come officer boofhead and his cronies,
“Valeska!”
Stupid guard, “Yesss?” I hiss.
“You have a visitor. Do not resist or we will use force.”
“Of course Officer. Whatever you say.” Now I’m confused. A visitor? Who the hell wants to visit me? None of the circus bozos cares what happens to me. Never did. And like I said, no other family, except my Dad, but he doesn’t wanna see me. Well… hear me. Haha!
They lead me down the never-ending labyrinth or corridors, inmates muttering and whining. God, it’s annoying. I do think of killing every last one of em’. Some people may think it a little rash, I think, ‘meh’.
It was the same room. Concrete, steel, and more concrete. The only difference is there are now two chairs instead of one across from me. And this time, they merely cuffed my hand to a loop on the top of the table. Then the door opened and in came the doctor and… a girl? She didn’t look much younger than me, sixteen, maybe seventeen?
“What’s up doc?” I smiled. But wasn’t looking at her, I was watching the other chick, who was continually eyeing me. Seriously, she pulled out the chair and sat down without taking her eyes off mine. The doctor cleared her throat, making me rip out of our staring contest and glare at the doctor. I dunno why, but I wanted to keep looking at the chick, she seemed… familiar.
“Mr Valeska, this is your visitor. Her name is Jacey, and we found something fascinating. She’s your only other relative. Your sister to be exact.” I raised an eyebrow, what sort of joke was this? I mean a sister? C’mon, not likely. I rolled my eyes, and looked at the two of them, smiling,
“Doc, be serious. If I had a sister, I’m pretty sure I’d remember.”
“Jerome, you can not deny it. We have done the tests, and you two are, undoubtedly, related.”
I looked at Jacey again. Red hair… like mine. Brown eyes… like mine. They were even shaped the same goddammit!
“Okay, just say, she is my sister. Why don’t I remember her?”
The doctor looked at Jacey, nodding towards me. She looked at me, not the slightest bit frightened,
“I’m two years younger than you. Sixteen. You would’ve only been around two when I was born.” Maybe I do remember something… Screaming. Me hiding underneath a small table. A heap of women frantically arguing. Then a scream. A baby. One of the women walked past, holding a bundle of towels…
“They took me to our Dad,” I made a growl sorta sound, making her pause, and hesitantly start again, “To our Dad, and got some questions going. Turns out, the circus didn’t like the idea of our Mum..."
This time I bared my teeth. Why was she talking about our parents so casually?
“Of Mum taking care of me, with her history and all, so they gave me to a different family here in Gotham. I never knew who my real parents were until four days ago, let alone that I had an older brother. And now here I am.” I was mad. Really crazy. I clenched my jaw to release some of raging tension, it wasn’t working. I hadn’t felt like this since killing my wretched Mother.
“They gave you to a different family, but not me?” I growled. My hands were now clenching and unclenching like pistons on a machine.
“I wondered the same thing when I was told. You’re, uh, a little different to what I imagined, I mean, I never thought I’d meet my, uh, “long lost brother” in Arkham, but I can see a resemblance.”
“So all this time, I coulda’ had a different family? Huh. Isn’t it weird how things turn out?” I smiled at the doctor, trying to hold in rage. My eyes must look real strained. It felt like it.
“Mr Valeska, are you okay?” My head snapped in her direction. I looked at her and laughed. Literally laughed.
“Am I okay? HAHAHA! Am I okay? I couldn’t be better!” I just kept laughing. The whole situation was just so hilarious and infuriating at the same time. It’s all I could do. Sometimes, it’s better if I act... amused rather than enraged. Laughing helped. It released the pressure that built up in my head, my hands, my chest. Everything.
“Miss Valeska, I think we’ll have to come back another time. Let him process things.” And they left, but I kept laughing. The Doctor spoke to the guards, Jacey had her head down. I began to calm down, even if I was still shaking. Then I saw it. A small piece of paper that had been placed near my hands. I strained against the handcuffs and grabbed the little slip. Stuffing it into my sleeve. A guard took me back to my cell. I’d occasionally burst into a fit of giggles, but he ignored me. We arrived at my cell where my cuffs were removed. I jumped onto my bed, smiling broadly, and took out the little slip of paper, and saw a note:
Jerome,
I’m sorry. It’s not fair. I wish I could’ve grown up with you. They told me about what Mum did and I and see why you did it. She had it coming. At first, I did want to meet her, but I think I’m glad you killed her. I understand if you hate me, but things change. Like you being stuck in this shithole. I’m gonna help you out. I mean, why not?
J. Jr.
J Junior? Ha! Maybe being “a little more open-minded” runs in the family.
