2k Celebration Masterpost
Pairing: Anthony Bridgerton x fem!reader
Summary: Sneaking around Aubrey Hall in the dead of night brings you right into the path of one Viscount...
Warnings: very suggestive content, nudity, teasing and touching, Viscount being a total menace but mostly a gentleman.
Word Count: 1.4k (250-word drabbles... I'm HILARIOUS)
Authors Note: Seventh in my 2k follower celebration drabble request fills for @colettebronte with the prompt “You heard me. Take. It. Off.” (ask here). This ended up quite tame, but I enjoyed writing him as a tease. Unbetaed. Enjoy! <3,
You know it's not the right thing to do. To be snooping around Aubrey Hall in the dead of night. But you cannot resist it. As everyone sleeps, you wander silently, tiptoeing around in just your nightgown, the light of the moon streaming through the large windows to guide you. It feels elicit, exciting even. Exploring the home of the man you hope to marry, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton. You have danced and promenaded a few times; this early invitation to spend time with his family ahead of the rest of the Ton bodes well.
You pause at the door of his private study, then, with a fortifying breath, turn the handle and slip into the room. Warm embers glow in the fireplace, and the smell of cigars and expensive whiskey hangs in the air. It is so masculine and so Anthony you can't help but drift to the sizeable imposing desk and take a seat, fingers running over the wood, picturing him sitting right where you are, working hard on something important or other. It makes you lean back, something stirring in your body, just the thought of him arousing.
It's then you notice there is material draped around the back of the large leather chair—one of his velvet, tailed jackets. It smells of spicy cologne, and before you know it, your nose is buried in the material, drawing deep breaths, the scent making your thighs rub together. Something compels you to want to wear it, to feel it against your skin.
With a boldness you thought yourself scarcely capable of, you stand up and whip off your nightgown, reaching to slip on the jacket. You luxuriate in the feeling of the luxury satin liner against your bare flesh, how it cools your back, snags your pebbled nipples, and how the velvet collar tickles your neck. The front may sit at waist height on him, but on you, the material skims the apex of your thighs, catching deliciously in the patch of hair you have there.
So wrapped up in the sensation of being surrounded by him, by his scent, you don’t hear the door open until it's too late.
“What in the…?”
You startle and spin around to see there in the doorway is the man himself, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, casual in just a loose white shirt and his britches with braces slung around his legs. You are caught, red-handed. The power of speech has abandoned you, so you just stand there, a rabbit caught in his crosshairs, guilt, fear and shame flooding your system.
He stalks into the room further now and inhales sharply when he rounds a chair to see an unencumbered view of you, entirely nude except for his jacket. His gaze is heavy, sliding down your body sweeping your bare legs, then fixing on where the fabric only just covers you.
“Take it off,” he orders.
You almost jump out of your skin at the tone and the gruffness. Your arms and hands incapable of moving; there are few charged moments when Anthony just stares at you.
“You heard me. Take. It. Off.” This time it's even lower, a growl, predatory, enthralling.
And you scramble to obey, shucking the jacket from around your shoulders and letting it hit the floor with an audible thump. Entirely naked now, his responding noise has your thighs instantly damp.
“How impertinent to let yourself into my private study,” his voice surly as he prowls towards you. You freeze to the spot, your hands flying to protect your modesty. “Oh, it’s a little late for that now,” he chuckles darkly, “put your hands back at your sides right now.”
And you do. Casting your gaze to the floor as your cheeks heat. His stare is so heavy it feels like a robe you wear. Soon he is so close you can smell the same cologne that clung to his jacket but this time from his skin.
He circles behind you, and you gasp as he crouches down; it takes you a second to realise he is picking up his jacket, where you carelessly disposed of it onto the floor.
“Tell me, why would you put on my jacket while nude?” he queries, lingering there, and you shudder as his hot breath glances over your bare bottom cheeks as he does so, still behind you.
“I…I… I wanted to try it on,” you stumble, your voice far too quiet.
“And you had to take off your nightgown to do so?” he snarks, and both of your eyes cut to the side where your gown lays in a heap.
“It seemed like luxurious material,” you confess, head still bowed, starting at the rug as if it fascinates you. “I wanted it against my skin,” those last few words are barely audible.
“You do not have velvet clothes of your own you could try this with?” he throws out, still behind you, that breath still hot over your cheeks; in fact, you swear it’s closer now.
“Yes, but…” you trail off, having no good excuse. Unable to think of a lie, you screw your eyes shut and decide on the truth “... they do not smell like you.”
You jolt and make a noise of sheer surprise as he pitches forward, and his teeth land on your cheek, inhaling deeply.
“At last…” he growls, scraping his canine over the globe of your bottom, “she admits to it.”
“To what?” you murmur as his wet tongue pokes out, soothing the spot he had touched with his teeth as you tremble.
“That you want me just as much as I want you.”
Your whole body shudders as he runs his tongue up the length of your spine, climbing to his feet, your toes curling, scrunching into the thick wool pile, as he unfurls to his full height behind you. You wish you had something nearby to grab onto; it feels as if you could topple over, the rush of blood to your head so intense.
“Are you a maiden?” his mouth is now hot on your ear.
“Yes.”
“And you have never had a man run his tongue over your body like that before, have you?” his voice dark and laced with bemusement.
“No,” you admit.
A warm hand lands on your shoulder as he stands behind you, and again you jump—your body aflame, your nipples pebbling hard, goosebumps breaking out down your arms.
“And I presume no man has touched your naked body?”
“No, my lord,” your addition of his title makes him take a sharp breath.
“Good,” he snarls, sounding possessive,
His hand rounds your shoulder and starts to sink lower, mapping over the outer end of your clavicle as you try to school your body, trying to stay still, so completely overwhelmed by what is happening. When warm fingertips brush the top of your breast, you begin to tremble.
“Do you know what could happen to mischievous young maidens who break into men’s offices?” It's just a deadly rumble now while his fingers inch fractionally lower, so close to your nipple that it aches to be touched.
You are incapable of answering, so you shake your head a little, his nose bumping your ear.
“You are lucky, Miss y/l/n, that I am mostly a gentleman,” he purrs, “mostly.”
You shiver as he circles your areola with featherlight touch but never crosses onto it, your heart pounding from the tease.
“I suggest you grab your nightgown and run now,” he advises, sounding like he is fighting his urges, his hand stilling in its motion.
“What if that is the opposite of what I wish?” you can barely believe you found the gall to utter your thought aloud, staring straight ahead at the bookcase, not daring to look down at his hand on your body.
His lips brush the shell of your ear, and it's like being struck by lightning.
“Leave now,” he whispers, “you may return tomorrow evening. Exactly as you are.”
“Why then?” you frown, disappointed as his hand drops from your flesh.
“Because then we shall be publically betrothed… and nothing should stop us.”
Your world spins, and you have to lock your knees to stop your swoon. “What…?”
“You heard me,” he says for the second time tonight, this time with a smug tone, stepping away and handing you your nightgown over your shoulder.
You take a faltering step forward and quickly pull on your nightgown, finally turning to face him again, and it steals your breath. His pupils are dilated, his cheeks flushed, his mouth damp and open.
“Until tomorrow, Miss y/l/n….” he gestures to the door and still utterly dumbfounded, you stumble towards it.
You cannot wait for tomorrow.

Hormone disrupters are chemicals 🧪 that interfere with your body’s endocrine system, which regulates hormones. They can be found in a lot of every day products like:
Plastic bottles and food containers
Pesticides in agriculture
Cleaning supplies
Chemicals used for clothing
Personal care products like lotions, shampoos & makeup
❌ These are hormone disrupters found in common every day products that you should stay away from ❌
- Bisphenol A (BPA) (plastics and can liners)
- Phthalates (personal care products, fragrances, flexible plastics)
- Parabens (makeup & personal care products)
- Triclosan (antibacterial soaps and cleaning products)
- Polychlorinated Biphenyls (older electrical equipment and industrial products)
- Flame Retardants (furniture, textiles, electronics)
- Pesticides (agriculture)
- Perfluorinated Chemicals (stain resistant treatments, non-stick cookware)
- Dioxins (industrial processes, combustion byproducts)
- Lead (older paints, pipes)
- Dye chemicals (textiles and clothing)
- Water repellents (outdoor clothing, upholstery)
- Stain repellents (carpets, fabrics)
- Formaldehyde (wrinkle free and anti-shrink treatments for fabric)
- Mercury (fish, some thermometers, dental amalgams)
- Cadmium (batteries, some fertilizers)
- Atrazine (herbicides)
- Glyphosate (weed killers)
- Perchlorate (rocket fuel, fireworks, fertilizers)
- Arsenic (contaminated water, pesticides)
- Styrene (plastics, rubber, insulation materials)
- Phosphates (detergents, fertilizers)
- Nonylphenol ethoxylates (industrial detergents, cleaners)
- Organotins (PVC plastics, marine antifouling paints)
- Benzophenone (sunscreens, plastics)
- Octinoxate (sunscreens, makeup)
- 4 Methylbenzylidene camphor (sunscreens, makeup)
‼️ Exposure to these can lead to health issues like reproductive problems, developmental issues and cancer.
🌿 Needless to say, that in order to protect our hormones 🫶 it’s important to recognize these risks and take measures to reduce our exposure them.

Ch 20: Keytoll
~ Master List ~ Previous Chapter ~ WC: 2.6k
Author's Note -- I couldn't resist publishing this a lil early... I'm excited for the next few chapters!!
.
“Hunter!” Lyra burst through his shop door. “Hunter?” she peered around the counter, stepping back in surprise as he appeared from the back. “Hey! Sorry... Um… Listen, I have to go. Urgently. There’s an old friend of mine that I’ve been trying to find for years, and she just contacted me and is trying to find a safe place to disappear. I’m taking the next shuttle to Keytoll to meet her.”
“Alright,” Hunter said slowly. His brow furrowed. “Though last I heard, Keytoll is a fairly popular outpost for the Empire… Not exactly a good idea…”
“I have no choice,” she said, with a fervence that hinted at a much greater depth.
“You trust this person?”
“I’d give my life for her in a heartbeat.”
“Wow. That’s big talk for you.”
“I mean it.” Her earnestness was compelling, and Hunter nodded slowly, eyes darting from her to the ground as he considered the options.
“You gonna be safe?”
“I mean… I’ll do my best,” she said with a helpless shrug. “I’ve gotten this far.”
“Want some backup?”
“What?” She looked up at him quizzically.
“Want… Some help? A second pair of eyes? Extra protection?” He was offering it as vaguely as possible, but realized with each passing word how much he wanted her to ask him to come along.
“I don’t want to ask you to do that,” she said, averting her own eyes now. “This is my own issue, not your burden.”
“I know,” he nodded, untying his apron with a calm intentionality now. “But if you’ll have me, I’m coming.”
“Okay… Um, thanks. That really means a lot. But at any point if you change your mind, it’s okay…” She shifted anxiously from foot to foot, still nervously staring at the floor.
“I’ll meet you at the station,” he confirmed with a nod, reaching out to grasp her hand as she turned to flit back out the door. They exchanged a meaningful glance, and he squeezed her hand before releasing it and watching her leave.
* * *
The off-world transport was a clunky old thing that seemed to be under maintenance more often than it was actually running. It had a few routes to nearby systems, where travelers could catch a ride to more popular destinations, and Keytoll was a backwater planet in the Outer Rim that, aside from being a transportation hub, didn’t have much going for it. It was decently populated in its capital city, which shared a name with the planet, but the rest of it was dusty wasteland. The city was full of tall clay buildings that rose in slightly rounded squares and rectangles from the center outward.
Hunter had put together a bit of a disguise, a fabric wrap concealing his head and face except for his eyes and a thick, dusty cloak hanging from his shoulders. He wanted to be extremely forgettable, and in the arid climate of Keytoll, he’d look just like anyone else. Lyra already wore neutral, simple clothing, but he was surprised to see that she’d gone to great lengths to braid her hair up around her head so its length was impossible to tell, and the dramatic makeup on her face was definitely a contrast from the usual. Her eyes were framed by bold swipes of black that curved up at the ends and her eyelids were brushed with smoky dark gray. The gentle shape of her lips was made to look much fuller with liner and a splash of deep red. Everything about her features was not only accentuated but changed, and he was impressed with just how much she looked like an entirely different person by taking a completely opposite approach than he had.
She took his arm as they boarded the shuttle, the look in her eyes intense and difficult to read. They sat in the back where they could see everyone getting on, and he could feel anticipation coursing through her veins.
“You… uh… You look…” he began, but she rolled her eyes in exasperation.
“Like an underworld performer, I know.”
“Well, I mean…” he paused, deciding between two responses. “You’re the one who said it.”
She laughed, relaxing a tiny bit, and stole a glance at him before returning to her vigilant scan of the other passengers. “How did you know what they wear there? This is impressively accurate.” She gave the cloak a little tug, unable to resist one last lingering look at his hawkish eyes.
“Tech,” he said simply.
“Ah. Handy.”
“So do you want to tell me a little more about what we’re getting into?” he asked, his voice a little constricted. They’d both been so slow to open up to one another, but the way they’d nestled into each other’s lives and hearts was undeniable. He still wanted to respect her privacy, but this was a notably different sort of activity for her, and his curiosity was getting the better of him. And, more importantly, any mission needed solid intel and strategy to be successful. The ship’s engines came online, shuddering into motion as the boarding ramp folded up and the takeoff announcement began to play.
“Breslin is… a dear friend. Family, really. We got separated when we left Coruscant, and I was afraid she was dead from the way she just disappeared and never responded to my communication. She… um… worked with me on Coruscant, and I think she was feeling the same need for a change of pace when she left. But we’d talked about going somewhere together, and then she just… vanished.”
Hunter shifted in his seat, wildly uncomfortable with so many factors to consider. “So she suddenly found you again, now?”
“Yes, and her note was short, but it just sounded like she needed some help.”
Silence sat heavy between them for a while, Hunter feeling torn between so many courses of action. He hated going into a situation without his squad and some idea of what lay ahead, but it seemed like a relatively harmless sort of escapade, all things considered. There was a strong sense of protectiveness around Lyra, but he also had a deep desire to keep Xylo as unnoticed as possible, and each new person that learned of its existence was a potential threat to its safety and anonymity.
“You really don’t have to do this,” Lyra repeated, her nerves apparent in every movement.
“I know,” he assured, reaching over to take her hand in his. “It’s fine. It’s been a while since I’ve seen any action. Might be good for me.” He didn’t believe a word of what he said.
“Old habits die hard, eh?” she attempted, referring to what he’d shared about his time as a mercenary of sorts.
“Something like that.”
When they arrived in Keytoll, they made their way through the city, keeping their heads down and appearing as inconspicuous as possible. The city was bustling with activity, species of every kind shoving their way through narrow streets and kicking up dust as they went. It was just after dinnertime, so the restaurants were releasing full and happy patrons to find their way home for the night, and Hunter kept his hand on the blaster at his side, sharp eyes scanning constantly. They arrived at their destination: a very old-looking hotel on one of the edges of a small courtyard, and after a brief check-in under a fake name, Lyra opened the door to their rented quarters for the evening.
It was a surprisingly comfortable and clean-looking room compared to the rest of the hotel and the dilapidated buildings around it. There was a very basic kitchenette, a table with two chairs, a couple of windows facing different directions in the corner, a tiny couch facing a holoscreen, and, tucked in the back near the door to the refresher, a fairly large bed. Each lost in thought about certain aspects of their accommodation, they pushed their suitcases off to the side and locked the door, ambling about the room aimlessly after shedding most of their disguises.
“I’ll sleep on the couch,” Lyra said abruptly, fidgeting with her purse strap as she did when nervous.
“Maybe half of you will,” Hunter chuckled, sitting on one side of it to demonstrate just how small it was. “We’ll figure it out.”
A pause.
“So what’s the plan with the friend?” he continued.
“She’s meeting us tomorrow morning. The shuttle schedules didn’t really line up so this was the best we could do. Then she’ll come back with us on the afternoon departure.”
“Sounds simple enough,” he nodded. “Where’s the meeting?”
“She said she’d send her hotel coordinates when she arrives and we can figure out a place in the middle, or just meet back at the station. Whichever is safest.”
“Mmkay.” He stretched, sidling up to the windows in the corner to scope out the surroundings. “So, until then…”
“We eat!” Lyra snickered, rummaging in her back for the few ingredients she’d brought for a simple pasta dinner. “I figured it would be better than going out…”
Hunter grinned, shaking his head fondly as she also produced a bottle of wine and began digging in the cupboards for anything to put it in. Two plastic cups and a little while later, they were nestled on the tiny couch while pasta sauce simmered on the stove.
“What do you miss most about your action days?” Lyra asked, absently swirling the red liquid in her small cup. A sigh escaped Hunter’s lips as memories sprang to mind indiscriminately, each one demanding attention as much as the rest. But they all seemed gray… heavy… so much pain and loss that had gotten him to where he was now. “Sorry, maybe that’s not fun to talk about right now,” Lyra added sheepishly.
“No, there’s just… a lot,” he began. “I mean, not a lot that I miss. But some of it, I suppose. It was fairly cut and dry… Here’s the job, you take it, you do it. Then you wait around until the next one.”
“Sounds pretty monotonous.”
“Heh. I mean, if every mission being a different objective with a risk to your life in a new way is monotonous, then sure.”
“Oh, I didn’t mean to downplay the dangers,” she corrected quickly. “I just mean… there’s not a lot of freedom for you to choose your own path? Although I guess you could at any point, since the jobs are all on an individual basis.”
“Yeah… But we were kinda in a groove for a while. And,” he hesitated, considering the similar conversation he’d had with Omega months ago. “It’s a little simpler because you have one straightforward purpose. Now… I don’t know. I sometimes feel like I’m living a lie.”
Lyra’s heart rate picked up noticeably, and she tilted to be able to face him more fully. “How so?”
“So much of my life was constant chaos, I never had much time to sit around and make my own choices. All this stuff, as wonderful as it is,” he noted, lightly stroking the back of her arm, “just feels… Too simple. Like it’s all going to fall to pieces somehow. And I’ll have been too distracted by all the fluff to have seen it coming or be able to prevent it.”
“I mean…” She struggled to find the right words. “What’s the alternative? Bounty hunting for the rest of your life? You’d always have to be looking over your shoulder.”
“Yeah,” he conceded. “Maybe I’m just too… whatever… to believe that it could really be this pleasant.
“Should I try to make it less pleasant?” she asked, her attempt at humor slightly hampered by her strong undercurrent of discomfort at his words.
“And how would you go about that?” he challenged, mildly amused.
“We could always get that girl to come and beat you up again.”
“Cheap shot,” he grumbled, elbowing her gently in the side as she chuckled, relaxing a bit more into her normal self. “Although I do think I need to exercise more,” he continued, “because my pants are getting a little too tight with all your delicious cooking.”
“We can start hiking up the mountain instead of cuddling on the couch all the time,” she suggested.
“That sounds terrible.”
“It really does.”
It was far later than usual when they finally sat down for dinner, the cozy details of their homes notably missing from the generic layout of the hotel room. They ate rather quickly around some halting conversation then wordlessly began getting ready for bed. After locking herself in the refresher for a while, Lyra emerged, having cleaned off all her makeup and loosened her hair back into a braid down the middle of her shoulder blades. She had a thin robe wrapped around herself, the hems of pajama pants poking out the bottom, and Hunter felt a wave of affection at the sight.
He’d brushed his teeth and washed his face in the kitchen sink, quickly changing into soft black pants and a long-sleeved henley while she was in the refresher, and his hair fell in loose waves around his face. Lyra busied herself by plugging in her commlink on the nightstand next to the bed, then, with nothing left to do, they stared at each other for a few moments, each fidgeting slightly while waiting for the other to talk.
“The bed is pretty big,” she observed, keeping her face carefully neutral. Hunter nodded, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I don’t think anyone should sleep on that couch,” he added.
Moving as they spoke, they found themselves each on a side of the bed, pulling the covers back tentatively before climbing in. Lyra paused to remove her robe, revealing a ridiculously endearing pajama set with long pants, a loose button-up top, and a dainty floral pattern. Hunter hid a smile, laying on his back and staring at the ceiling, and Lyra did the same for a few minutes before finally rolling on her side to face him.
“I mean… We’ve slept on the couch before… Why does this feel so different?” she confessed, and he noticed the flush on her cheeks and the way she tucked her hands protectively in front of her chest.
“It doesn’t have to be,” he offered, lifting an arm to invite her in, trying hard to appear breezy despite his own pounding pulse and the intoxication of his senses from all that the situation entailed. She hesitated for a moment, subtly biting her lip before slowly scooting across the bed to tuck herself against his side, nestling her head into the soft crook of his shoulder and resting a hand on his chest. His arm held her gently, other hand laying atop hers, and he sighed in deep contentment.
“I’m really glad you’re here,” she murmured, nuzzling a little closer to his neck and sending a little shiver down his spine. He hummed his agreement, trying to focus on anything but the softness of her body pressed along his and the calm affection that radiated from her hand where it lay over his heart.
* * *
Early in the morning, the quiet buzzing of the commlink woke Lyra with a start, and she rolled over to look at it, casting a quick glance back at Hunter’s sleeping form. His shirt was twisted, pulled tight against the curve of his side as it rose and fell steadily. She rubbed her eyes, trying to focus on the words on the screen, then got up and snuck into the refresher, emerging a few minutes later fully dressed.
She tiptoed over to Hunter’s side of the bed, unable to resist brushing a tendril of hair from his face, and she bent down slowly, caressing the side of his cheek as he remained unmoving. Indescribable depths of emotion swirled in her eyes as she gazed at his features, leaning in to press one last kiss to his temple.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered, closing her eyes in a singular, poignant moment of regret before tearing herself away and slipping out the door.

ooo buddy. this was an awesome challenge to write as a female. I hope I did it justice for you. Tried to stick to gender neutral as best I could.
love and mushrooms, boo. 🍄
Stepping into the flat you shared with your military boyfriend, you slid off the way-too conservative loafers you were required to wear to the office, storing them next to your favorite platform boots. Immediately, your hand found the black locks on top of your head and mussed them up, making them stand on end in some places, but relieving you of the final constraints of your job.
Nimble fingers began undoing the buttons of the maroon dress shirt you wore, revealing more ink than skin while you untucked it from your black slacks. You loved your job, but having to show up looking like any other corporate jerk made your skin crawl (you left the multiple piercings in as a 'fuck you' to the system).
When you finally made your way to the bedroom, you found your boyfriend unpacking his duffel from his most recent mission. A soft sigh of relief left your lips as he turned to you with open arms.
"Come here, luv, I missed you," John beckoned, smiling warmly, making his mustache curl with his lips. You stepped forward and melted into his chest, arms wrapping around his body in a crushing hug while your face nuzzled into his neck. You could smell the gunpowder and stale scent of cigars on him, but it only made you melt further into him.
"Why don't you get changed and I'll work on dinner, hm?" he continued, pulling back only slightly to look down at you with those sparkling blue eyes of his.
When you finally emerged from the bathroom, you were dressed more in your own style. A black tank hung over your upper body and was accompanied by one of John's ratted old jackets from his early years in the military. Your tattoos peaked out under the fabric every where from your chest and neck to your calves.
The baggy cargo shorts you slid on sat low on your waist, weighed down by the phone in your pocket. Your hair was wet, laying in a shaggy, black mess on top of your head. Rings and bracelets adorned your fingers and wrists, ready to be worn through the weekend while a thin ring of liner surrounded your eyes.
Coming up behind John at the stove, you wrapped your arms around his middle again, pressing your cheek to the middle of his expansive back. "I love you," you mumbled against his body, the words barely discernible, but John had almost perfect hearing thanks to always being prepared with earplugs.
Placing the ladle down on the resting dish, John turned in your arms and cupped your jaw before pressing his lips to yours. You welcomed the affection, opening yourself to him in earnest. His mustache tickled your nose, but after a year together, you'd learned how to ignore it.
When he pulled back, he tested his forehead against yours and stayed silent a moment, relishing in the quite space. "I love you too, my love," he mumbled back, pulling you in for another crushing hug. ""More than anything."
He pulled back to look down at you, bringing his hand up to pinch your chin as he smiled down at you. "There you are, looking much more like you." He stole another kiss before peppering them over your cheeks, over your jaw, and down your neck, eliciting a soft moan from you.
Your head tilted back, giving him free range of your throat while his meaty hands gripped your hips and pulled you tighter to him. The two of your were lost in your own world until you heard something singe on the burner.
Looking over his shoulder, you groaned, seeing the stew starting to boil over, and tapped him on the opposite shoulder. "John, baby, the stew," you said with an edge of frustration, feeling as though the stew did it on purpose to make him leave you.
With a laugh, he pulled away and turned back to the stove, turning down the heat and stirring it. His free hand never left your hip, holding you to his side. He brushed a light kiss to your temple before you heard his rumbling voice ghosting over your ear.
"I'll make it up to you later, promise."

A (non)comprehensive evolution of the US Army field jacket, from 1945-2007. These are all original specimens, with or without optional items, and thus is incomplete before 1945, because using reproductions is never 1:1 and is cheating. (Unless its SMWholesale.)
1943-1953: M1943 Field Jacket, Civil Defense.
Pictured here is a Civil Defense variant, which outlived its military counterpart in service life. (This one is here because I haven't gotten around to focusing my autism on collecting them yet.)
1950-1953: M1950 Field Jacket.
An update to the M1943 with interior buttons for liners, a swing-out arm gusset and other improvements, mostly for making it more presentable for dress uniform. The M1950 makes its debut in Korea, is found wanting for actual combat, and within a year is superseded.
1951-1970s: Early M1951 Field Jacket.
A more field use oriented jacket, the M1951 introduces a zipper and snaps to the field jacket, while still retaining button in liners. The M51 survives Korea and enters Vietnam. Later production M51s can be discerned by white labels and green buttons, whereas early M51s have an ink stamp and brown, WW2 production buttons.
1965-1990's Early/Vietnam Era and Post-War OD M1965 Field Jackets.
The M65 iterates further on the field jacket, while adding additional features and simplifying manufacturing. most notably a stowable built-in wind hood and velcro wrist cuffs with stowed flaps to extend over gloves. The early Vietnam era M65s are distinguished by having 2 white cotton inkstamped labels, one on the neck, and one behind the right lower pocket, alongside aluminium zippers like the M51. Post-1973 M65s have brass zippers and either still retain the 2 labels, or have a single, larger label at the neck. (The Vietnam Era one here was acquired in Vietnam and was used in the war, and was repaired numerous times by many people until it found its way to me.)
1981-2008: Early and Late Woodland pattern M1965 Field Jackets.
The only significant difference on the early woodland M65 from its predecessors is its change to camouflage, entering service with the BDU in 1981, but served alongside the OD M65 all throughout the 80s and 90's, never fully replacing it. Early and Late Woodland M65s can be differentiated by a change from brass Talon zippers to green coated YKK zippers, and from white letterpressed or inkstamped labels to green letterpresses labels. (There is also the change of using woodland fabric to OD fabric in the hip pockets but that varies by manufacturer.)
1989-2008: 3 Color Desert M1965 Field Jacket.
A contract of 3CD M65s were made in 1989 for potential actions in desert areas around the globe, made to the same cut as the Late Woodland M65s with tan coated YKK zippers. Few made it in time to be issued in Desert Storm, among with the DCU, but saw more extensive issue in the rest of the 90s, and in Desert Shield, Iraq and Afghanistan. Another batch was made in Contract Year 2003, and changed the cut to the final iteration of the M65, without shoulder or nametape velcro. (I am too lazy to photograph this one right now.)
2004-2008: Universal Camouflage Pattern M65.
The last breath of the M65 in service to the US. By the time it was issued it was no longer competitive with other cold weather clothing systems, and many commands did not authorize them for dress uniform. Other parts of the M65 system were made in UCP, but befell the same fate. Velcro for shoulder patches and nametapes were added, and liners in the same color were even made for them. Only a single contact year was ever ordered, and by 2008 the M65 was phased out of service. Maybe, someone high up might get nostalgic, and order new ones to be made in the current camouflage for dress uniform, but if ever that happens, the story ends here.

Octavian’s Auguraculum.
Okay!!! It’s been… a while, but my boy finally gets his Auguraculum!
I made the Auguraculum finally. It is SO historically inaccurate to actual Auguraculums; I’ll admit that. But an actual Auguraculum (aside from tabernaculum augurale. Which there is little information on from what I’ve tried to find) were well maintained thatched huts. Now, I didn’t want to give him a downgrade so instead…
Here is the Final(ish) art for the outside and the Dias of the Auguraculum! The uh, inside is pretty interchangeable, there’s a lot of like, bookshelves and tables and stuffed animals and space. Seeing as it’s also the like general area where the legion is gathers at times (This is taken from Tabernaculum augurlae; which was a part of the military camps and would be the religious and legal center for Camp Jupiter. Temples get to be for the New Rome citizens.)
But uh, I based it off of things like the Parthenon, and also just old Greco-Roman buildings? It’s fantasy and again, I wanted to give my guy an interesting looking building.
Now the literal and figurative centerpiece of this fictional building is that Dias and the glass dome. As my scribbles say the Dias is on a sort of like magic pulley system? It is hooked up to a loop up in the glass dome and then twists back down to a side where the Rope/Chain/whatever is stored when the thing is pulled up, idk that’s a lot of specifics that I might not specifically know but the essentials are that the Dias can move up closer to the Glass dome to view birds more easily; also to get away from annoying people who keep storming in while you try to do your job :3
As I said a couple times, it is not actually historically accurate to any Auguraculum I could find, however I think it looks nice and it’s a good setting for stuff and it gets rid of the stupid temple hill-
But uh, yeah sorry this is so short lol. I really like the design I finished with, also for all purposes of saving my hand and fine liner; I made the columns Doric, know that in actual like everything they would be Corinthian columns (the ones that look like they have leaves). The Auguraculum is also very close to the Principa, and it still has the stones where the prophecies are carved in. They’re on the Dias and quite possibly are being carved into the tiles beyond that. Uh also there’s a lot of plants and drapery and fabrics on the ceilings; partially to hide the whole pulley stuff, partially just because it looks cool.
Uh, okay. It’s really cold and I’m shaking right now but I have to go memorize my lines, also sorry there is no finished-finished art but I’ve been in a digital art ‘slump?’ As of late, I’m figuring it out. (Also I’m running out of pages in my sketchbook-)

Preparing for Winter: How Thermal Curtains Can Insulate Your Home
As winter approaches, keeping homes warm and energy-efficient becomes a top priority. One simple yet effective way to do this is by installing thermal curtains for winter, which help reduce heat loss and block cold drafts. These curtains are designed to trap heat inside, making them a valuable addition to your home insulation strategy. In this article, we’ll explore how thermal insulated curtains can transform your space into a cozy winter retreat while cutting down on energy bills.
Why Homes Lose Heat in Winter
Windows are a major culprit for heat loss in most homes, allowing cold air to seep in and warm air to escape. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, windows can account for up to 25% of heat loss. This not only makes homes chilly but also forces heating systems to work harder, leading to higher energy costs.
Thermal insulated curtains act as a barrier between your living space and the cold outside. With their thick, layered design, they trap heat inside, keeping rooms warmer while preventing drafts from entering. The result is a more comfortable home environment that requires less energy to heat.
How Thermal Curtains Insulate
Thermal curtains are made of multiple layers of tightly woven fabric and often include a specialized insulating liner. These elements work together to prevent heat from escaping and cold air from entering.
1. Thermal Lining for Heat Retention
A crucial component of thermal insulated curtains is the thermal lining, typically made of foam or thick fabric. This lining forms a protective layer that helps keep heat inside during winter.
2. Blocking Cold Drafts
Cold drafts can slip through small gaps in windows, but curtains to keep cold out act as a buffer, reducing the impact of drafts. By hanging heavy, insulated curtains, you can seal off these gaps and create a more consistent indoor temperature.
3. Energy Savings
Since thermal curtains help maintain a warmer indoor environment, they reduce the need for heating systems to work as hard. This results in lower energy bills and more energy-efficient homes.
Choosing the Right Thermal Curtains
To get the best results from your thermal curtains, it’s important to choose the right ones based on your home’s needs.
1. Fabric and Thickness
Heavy fabrics like velvet, suede, or wool are excellent choices for insulated curtains. Look for curtains with a thick thermal lining to maximize insulation.
2. Size and Fit
Make sure your curtains are large enough to fully cover your windows, extending beyond the edges to block drafts. Curtains should ideally hang from the ceiling to the floor for full coverage.
3. Aesthetic Appeal
Winter drapes come in a variety of styles, so you can choose options that complement your decor. Darker colors are effective at absorbing and retaining heat, while lighter colors provide a more neutral look.
Strategic Curtain Placement for Maximum Warmth
To fully benefit from thermal curtains for winter, it’s essential to place them strategically throughout your home. Here are key areas where these curtains can make the most difference:
1. Living Rooms with Large Windows
Living rooms with large or multiple windows can be major sources of heat loss. Insulated curtains are especially useful in these spaces, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere without the need to crank up the heat.
2. Bedrooms for Cozy Comfort
A cold bedroom can disrupt sleep during the winter. Installing curtains to keep cold out in bedrooms helps maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature, particularly for north-facing rooms that receive less sunlight.
3. Mudrooms and Entryways
Mudrooms and entryways are often exposed to the cold. Installing winter drapes in these areas can block cold air from entering your main living spaces and improve overall comfort.
Benefits Beyond Winter
While thermal insulated curtains are designed to insulate homes during the winter, they also offer benefits year-round.
1. Reducing Cooling Costs in Summer
In the summer, thermal curtains can block heat from entering through windows, helping to keep rooms cooler. This reduces the need for air conditioning, making your home more energy-efficient during warmer months.
2. Sound Insulation
Some thermal drapes also provide sound insulation, making them useful for reducing outside noise. This is especially beneficial for homes in busy urban areas or along noisy streets.
Seasonal Style with Thermal Curtains
Winter drapes don’t just serve a functional purpose — they can also enhance your home’s seasonal decor.
1. Warm Tones and Cozy Fabrics
Opt for rich, warm tones like deep reds, forest greens, or browns to create a cozy winter atmosphere. Pair your thermal curtains with complementary decor, such as throw blankets and pillows, to enhance the feeling of warmth.
2. Layering for Added Insulation
Layering insulated curtains with sheer curtains can add visual depth and extra insulation. Sheer curtains let in natural light during the day, while thermal curtains provide warmth when needed.
Conclusion: A Winter Essential for Every Home
As the cold weather sets in, investing in thermal curtains for winter is a simple yet effective way to insulate your home and save on energy costs. By blocking drafts and keeping warmth inside, these curtains make your living space more comfortable while helping you reduce your environmental footprint. Whether you’re looking to warm up your living room, bedroom, or entryway, thermal insulated curtains provide both functionality and style for the winter season.

Nike InfinityRN 4
Nike Running has its latest answer in delivering high-level performance while reducing environmental impact: Nike ReactX foam, which is debuting in the new Nike InfinityRN 4.
Compared to Nike React foam, ReactX is engineered to cut down its carbon footprint in a pair of midsoles by at least 43% due to reduced energy in the manufacturing process, and increase energy return by 13%.
The resulting balance between performance and environmental impact in ReactX foam is a feat of sport performance engineering. The industry has two traditional methods of making foam, which can be summarized as either injection or compression molding. The overall process for injection is simpler, and thus carries a lower carbon footprint — but it also tends to have lower energy return, and a lower performance benefit. On the other hand, compression molding delivers more responsive foams with higher energy return, but also creates more waste and uses more energy to make it.
ReactX foam was researched, developed and tested over five years to craft a formulation that hits the sweet spot between performance and environmental impact. In putting the material through an injection process, rather than through compression molding, the new foam delivers a higher energy return without creating a higher carbon footprint.
The new shoe pairs ReactX foam with an all-new Nike Flyknit upper that allows maximum airflow, breathability, flexibility, and containment, with a soft, supportive foam collar. The lightweight fabric uses an average of 60% less waste than traditional footwear-upper manufacturing. The updated upper also features increased volume in the toe, a midfoot support system and a water-resistant liner.
The Nike InfinityRN 4 launches globally July 13 on nike.com and at select retailers.

One of the most significant advantages of shopping for motorcycle clothing online is the convenience of browsing a wide range of products from the comfort of your home. Online stores often carry a vast selection of styles and brands that may not be available in local brick-and-mortar stores. You can compare prices, read reviews, and find the perfect fit without leaving your house. Many online retailers offer detailed product descriptions, sizing guides, and customer feedback to help you make an informed decision.
Better Deals and Discounts
Online retailers often offer competitive pricing and promotions that might not be available in physical stores. Shopping during seasonal sales, special promotions, or discount events like Black Friday or Cyber Monday can save you a significant amount on premium motorcycle clothing. Additionally, online shops may provide free shipping, further enhancing the value of your purchase.
Essential Motorcycle Safety Gear
Jackets
Motorcycle jackets are one of the most essential pieces of safety gear. Look for jackets made from abrasion-resistant materials like leather or textile fabrics with built-in armour for protection. Some jackets include shoulder, elbow, and back protection to absorb impact during a fall. For added comfort and safety, consider jackets with ventilation systems and reflective elements for visibility.
Pants
Motorcycle pants, just like jackets, should offer both comfort and protection. Look for pants made of rigid materials such as Cordura or leather, which resist abrasion. Padded or armoured options are ideal for additional security. When shopping online, check the sizing carefully, as the fit is crucial to protecting your hips, knees, and lower back.

Gloves protect your hands from abrasions and improve your grip while riding, while boots safeguard your feet and ankles. High-quality leather gloves with reinforced palms provide the best protection. For boots, look for durable, waterproof options with ankle support and good traction for handling the bike.
Style Tips for Motorcycle Clothing
Function Over Fashion
While style is essential, always prioritise functionality and safety when selecting your motorcycle gear. High-quality protective gear that fits properly is more important than simply looking good. Look for clothing incorporating safety features and style, like jackets with modern cuts or pants with stylish accents that don't compromise protection.
Layering for Comfort
Depending on the weather conditions, layering your clothing can significantly affect comfort. Look for jackets and pants with removable liners for versatility in varying temperatures. Additionally, base layers made from moisture-wicking materials can keep you comfortable by drawing sweat away from your skin.
Invest in High-Quality Gear
Don't skimp on safety when it comes to your gear. Invest in high-quality items that will last longer and perform better in crashes. Online stores often carry top-tier products, but ensure you buy from reputable retailers with clear safety certifications and product details.
Conclusion
Shopping for motorcycle clothing online opens up a world of options, from top brands to protective gear and stylish accessories. By researching different brands, understanding your needs for safety gear, and considering both function and fashion, you can make informed decisions when purchasing motorcycle clothing. Always choose clothing that fits well, meets safety standards, and complements your riding style. With the right gear, you can enjoy your ride confidently and comfortably.

Why Motorcycle Gear is Important: Protecting Yourself on the Road
Motorcycling is one of the most thrilling and liberating forms of transportation, but it also comes with its own set of risks. Unlike driving a car, when you ride a motorcycle, you’re more exposed to the elements, traffic, and the road itself. This is why wearing the right motorcycle gear is essential for your safety, comfort, and performance. In this blog, we’ll explore why motorcycle gear is crucial, and how it can protect you on every ride.
1. Motorcycle Gear Saves Lives
The most important reason to invest in high-quality motorcycle gear is safety. In the unfortunate event of an accident, gear such as helmets, jackets, gloves, pants, and boots is designed to protect you from injury by absorbing impacts and reducing abrasions.
Helmets: Your helmet is the most important piece of gear. A high-quality helmet absorbs impact and prevents severe head injuries. In fact, helmets reduce the risk of head injury by over 40% and the risk of death by nearly 30%, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Protective Jackets & Pants: Motorcycle jackets and pants are made from tough materials like leather, Kevlar, and textile fabrics that help minimize road rash and abrasion in case you fall. Many riding jackets and pants come with armor or padding in critical areas like the shoulders, elbows, back, and knees, offering additional protection in case of an impact.
Gloves and Boots: Gloves protect your hands from abrasions and provide a better grip on the handlebars. They also absorb vibrations, reducing hand fatigue. Boots protect your feet, ankles, and lower legs, reducing the risk of serious injuries from falls or collisions.
Wearing the right gear doesn't just protect you in an accident—it can significantly improve your chances of walking away without life-altering injuries.
2. Comfort and Performance Enhancement
Motorcycle gear isn’t just about protection—it's also about improving your riding experience. Proper gear helps keep you comfortable during your rides, which ultimately enhances your performance on the road.
Breathable, Weather-Appropriate Gear: Riding for hours in the hot sun or in cold weather can take a toll on your comfort. High-quality motorcycle gear is designed to keep you comfortable in all conditions. Jackets and pants come with ventilation systems that allow airflow in hot weather, while heated gloves and liners are available for cold weather. Keeping your body temperature regulated helps you stay focused on the road, rather than being distracted by discomfort.
Improved Fit and Control: Gear like gloves and boots gives you better control over your bike by improving your grip on the handlebars and your stability on the foot pegs. This can make a huge difference in how well you navigate corners, adjust your speed, and handle various road conditions.
Ultimately, the right gear keeps you comfortable and more in control, leading to a smoother and more enjoyable ride.
3. Protection from the Elements
When you’re on a motorcycle, you're exposed to the weather and the elements in a way that a car driver isn’t. Rain, wind, dust, and debris can all affect your ride. Motorcycle gear is designed to protect you from these elements, ensuring that you stay safe and comfortable no matter the conditions.
Rain Gear: Many jackets and pants come with waterproof layers or rain covers to keep you dry in wet conditions. Waterproof gloves, boots, and helmet covers can also help prevent water from affecting your ride.
Wind Protection: Riding at high speeds can leave you vulnerable to wind resistance, which can be exhausting over long distances. Jackets and pants with aerodynamic designs help reduce wind drag, making long rides much more comfortable.
Sun Protection: Long exposure to the sun can lead to sunburns and dehydration, especially on long rides. Many motorcycle gear items feature UV protection or come with additional layers that shield your skin from harmful rays.
By choosing the right gear, you can stay comfortable, no matter what the weather throws at you.
4. Protection from Road Debris
While riding on the road, you’ll inevitably encounter small debris such as rocks, insects, and other debris that can be dangerous at high speeds. Motorcycle gear is designed to protect you from these hazards.
Helmets: Not only do helmets protect your head in a crash, but they also shield your face and eyes from bugs, rocks, and other debris that could be kicked up by other vehicles on the road.
Jackets, Pants, and Gloves: Abrasions from road debris, especially in the case of a fall, can cause painful injuries. Motorcycle jackets and pants are made of materials that are durable enough to withstand the impact of road rash, and gloves help protect your hands from small rocks and gravel.
Protecting yourself from debris is essential, and proper gear plays a vital role in making sure you stay safe.
5. Increased Visibility on the Road
One of the biggest risks motorcyclists face is being seen by other drivers. Motorcycles are smaller and less visible than cars, which means they’re more likely to be overlooked by other vehicles. Wearing high-visibility gear or gear with reflective strips helps make you more noticeable, especially during low-light conditions such as at dawn, dusk, or during night rides.
Brightly colored jackets, helmets with reflective panels, and reflective vests or straps can significantly increase your visibility, making it easier for other drivers to spot you on the road. This can be especially important when navigating busy city streets or riding through poorly lit areas.
6. Peace of Mind
Perhaps one of the most overlooked benefits of wearing the right motorcycle gear is the peace of mind it provides. Knowing that you’re properly protected can give you the confidence to ride safely and without worry.
When you invest in quality gear, you’re investing in your safety, your well-being, and your peace of mind. Whether you're commuting through the city, going on a weekend ride, or tackling a cross-country adventure, the right gear lets you focus on the joy of riding, knowing that you're well-protected.
Conclusion
Motorcycle gear is not just about looking cool on the road—it’s about protecting yourself and enhancing your riding experience. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or just starting out, investing in the right gear is essential for your safety, comfort, and performance. At Bikerz Mode, we offer a wide range of high-quality gear designed to keep you protected and looking stylish. From helmets and jackets to gloves and boots, we’ve got everything you need to ride with confidence.
Don’t underestimate the importance of gear—protect yourself, stay comfortable, and enjoy every ride to the fullest!
