I think Hopkins from Limbus Company is a better side character than most people give him credit for

His only crime is being mean to Yuri and yeah he's an asshole just in general but I think if he wasn't so mean to Yuri specifically more people would like him. Him surviving Canto 1 because of his greed while all the other side characters died served the story well and I'm glad he lived. I'm a Hopkins apologist. sorry.

So, I hadn't heard of this game until today, but... the soundtrack kinda slaps.

Will someone we meet during the journey actually survive?

With us having met so many people along our journey till now (Yuri, Aya, Hopkins, Effie, Saude and Samjo) I wonder if finally someone is going to actually live after meeting and journey with our Limbus gang.

With Canto 4 killing off Samjo in honestly such a shocking and casual way, it got me thinking, why? Why does everyone we meet with, who help the Sinners or get along with them, die?

There was no reason for Samjo to have stepped forward to dive (instead of doing smth else) but he did, Aya died to an abnormality in the way she was talking about(Almost like a prediction), Yuri died even if you passed the check, Effie had to be put out of his misery and Saude was forced to be lied to and then left to die after surviving a whole canto and just when they started to get along with the Sinners and like them.

The only one who has survived is Hopkins, becuz Dante never called them out on stealing after making note of his stuffed pockets more than once as well as becuz Hopkins didn't like them. He betrayed them all but lived. The only person to accompany y'all and live had to sacrifice/kill y'all to get away. The only relationships(of comradery) they can have is with each other, becuz it really looks like all they cross paths with are fated to die/kill themselves.

To build on this, is Dante going to do smth about it?

We seen them realise the horrors of the expendability of people to the city, and that their pain is a small price for it in Canto 4. Also they do genuinely care about those they work with and meet, seeing that they were upset about Aya and Yuri, but moreso about Effie and Saude, seeing that they even mentioned their deaths in their own notes. They wrote these notes to remember important things incase they ever forget everything again, and they decided that remembering Effie and Saude was important enough.

The deaths being noted after mentioning they were treated as expendables, also shows that Dante is growing weary of the ways of the City, but hasn't succumbed to it yet, and is might actually be hoping to change (or are they?)
