I'm curious as to why you think Lou was directed to only call Buck Evan? I assumed it was because Tommy is meant to be seen as different (beyond him being the only man) than all of Buck's previous LIs and that was one way of highlighting that. I'm just not sure why else he would call him Evan when no one else close to him does.
i mostly think it was because it was early in their relationship/arc. buck introduces himself as evan to people, he had previous LIs call him evan (tho not exclusively). in that post my point was mostly that i don't think the writers consider what the name evan/buck means to buck as much as we do and try to fit it into a coherent throughline for the character or a broader context. for example i dont think they were considering the implications of that scene where buck tells his parents not to call him evan when they wrote tommy's dialogue or even rolling back a step, i dont think they were thinking of that scene when they wrote eddie calling him evan that one time. at most they were thinking "yeah this'd be a cute intimate thing" without the broader context. we treat character lores more hollistic, that's why you get a million word meta about tommy calling buck evan is a sign the ship is doomed from the antis and get a million word meta about tommy calling buck evan being a sign he's special from us referencing unrelated moments from the show - i simply dont think the writers think about it as much.

I mustache you a question
Buddie 4.8k Rated T, No archive warnings apply.
Summary:
Eddie's life is in shambles. He grows a mustache. It, somehow, fixes everything.
Eddie’s been feeling pretty low lately. Down in the dumps. He’s melancholic, glum, downhearted, morose, demoralized, sorrowful.
He’s depressed.
That’s what Frank tells him, anyway. He’s going twice a week, which felt excessive at first, but they haven’t run out of things to talk about yet. Mostly, they talk about Chris.
He’s been gone for three weeks now, and he’s barely responding to Eddie’s texts. He’s beginning to wonder if things will ever improve.
Buck’s been great. Whenever they aren’t on shift, he’s at Eddie’s. He doesn’t pander or talk down to him, just acts like himself. He cooks a lot, even teaches Eddie a few recipes, and they eat while watching TV. Eddie’s been feeling nostalgic lately, so he’s making Buck watch some of the 80s shows he remembers watching reruns of when he was a kid.
He’d rather not read too far into why he’s choosing to remember the nicer things from his childhood, but it wouldn’t take a genius to figure it out.
They start with Miami Vice, to work out once and for all which of them was Crockett and which was Tubbs. Once they’re tired of that, they go onto Golden Girls—which Eddie is surprised to realize how much he loves. They don’t watch every episode of every season, just a handful of episodes here and there, the way Eddie remembers them.
They’re starting Magnum P.I. this afternoon, once Eddie masters Buck’s blueberry waffle recipe. He got out of therapy feeling worse than he has in a while, having spent most of the hour unpacking his unresolved feelings about Shannon and how they’ve colored every relationship he’s had since.
Buck knocks on the door about five minutes after Eddie gets home, holding a grocery bag, arms out for a hug. Eddie deflates when he sees him, walking into Buck’s arms, letting the comfort envelop him.
“How was today?” Buck asks.
“Bad.”
One of the first things Frank told Eddie they would work on was to stop lying about how he’s doing. Stop holding every negative feeling locked in a box until it explodes, taking his life down with it. It’s not easy. He’s still working on it, but this is good practice—just being honest about how he’s feeling after each therapy session.
Buck squeezes him tighter, and that’s the last they say on the topic.
They talk shit about Gerrard, a subject that causes them both strife, and Buck updates him on Bobby’s efforts to get other captains on board with his petition to have him removed from the position, and from the LAFD.
It’s not that Eddie forgets everything else that’s happening, but it does become a little easier to handle it when Buck is here. He just makes it more bearable, gives Eddie a little hope that things might work out if he just keeps going.

eddie's cheating arc is so unserious like they brought back shannon for this??? (THE DRAMA) but you know what's funnier? the fact that buddie shippers have been rooting for eddie to cheat on marisol aka his girlfriend for WEEKS and then got mad when it actually happened
(i actually get why eddie made that decision because grief makes you irrational, especially with the amount of unresolved shit he had with shannon but like lol good job everyone)

so ep 7... I`m very not okay right now.
I hate cheating storylines. Hated when they've done it with Hen, hated when they've done it with Buck.
I`m pretty sure if they wanted to address Eddie`s unresolved issues with Shannon`s death and his constant attempts to recreate a family in the image of his past relationships (which were just awful in all ways possible) they could`ve tried a million other ways to do it.
Like we all know that Eddie idolized the shit out of his relationship with her which I guess was just a trauma response (she did want a divorce in the end and it was the right choice, good for her) but he went to therapy. And as we see now it didn't work at all?
At the beginning of the season when he was on a call with a girl in a tub and was walking her through her panic through his own experiences and wasn`t shy about it I thought "Oh, finally, we`re making some progress on that part" but now it all went down into shackles.
I did not expect the Shannon doppelganger at all. Like even without the cheating part - it`s bad. Just bad.
Also, him lying to both Christopher AND Buck?? Oh, god, I feel a storm coming from miles away. From the interview with the actress who plays Shannon, we have information that we will have a scene with Kim and Buck later, and, listen, I`m all in for the drama although not that kind of drama.
And let's return to Chris. He has unresolved issues with the death of his mom, which was addressed this season. Eddie was not okay with his son dating multiple girls simultaneously and asked Buck to talk with him about it. So I guess we will get some kinda of a parallel to this interaction but with Buck and Eddie? idk I'm just trying to make sense out of it.
Also what reaction is Eddie expecting from Chris when he meets with Kim who looks like THE EXACT COPY OF HIS DEAD MOM? Excuse me???
Oh, at this point I`m just spiraling.
The only thing that I`m sure about is his relationship with Marisol just done. In the worst possible way, yes, but it`s final.

Note
cheating storylines are only worth anything when i care about at least one relationship involved. marisol nolastname may as well be a piece of furniture and he only cares about clone shannon bc she looks like his dead ex. what am i supposed to care about here? it doesn't even say anything about eddieshannon/eddie's unresolved feelings about shannon we didn't already know.
RIGHT THERES LITERALLY NO FUCKING POINT TO THE CHEATING. the whole thing is messy as fuck anyway he is going to hurt this woman IS THAT NOT ENOUGH without adding the cheapest shit of all time
