Rewatching ep.31 of Love Between Fairy and Devil and blogging my reaction

Here it is. The much dreaded episode 31. Spoilers ahead.

Nooooo. Not the grass bracelet. She made it with so much love and care for you, DFQC :(

And then DFQC orders Xunfeng – who is overjoyed when he sees people suffering – to keep an eye on her. Good choice, DFQC, what could possibly go wrong?

Perhaps it’s my idea – I tend to be biased when it comes to Xunfeng – but does he enjoy this more than he should?

Ronghao is alone with Xiao Lanhua. What could go wrong?

So he tries to kill her. But if she dies, then DFQC dies too

Oh DFQC felt her suffering and he tries to find her

Changheng! I have never been so happy to see you! (still a part of me foolishly believes that somehow she will be saved)

Poor Xiao Lanhua. She’s crawling to the sword in order to kill herself. It’s not fair :(

Ok, now Ronghao takes off his mask. Oh come on, Ronghao why do you have to be so handsome? I want to hate you, but I can’t. I mean you expect an evil monster behind the mask and you get one of the most handsome men in the world, all wrapped up in sadness and blurry eyes

I get anxiety by watching Xiao Lanhua slowly trying to reach for the sword, while DFQC musters all his remaining strength to reach her. And the music. Ufffff

Omg she took the sword, she took the sword. Nooooooooo :(

Yeah, show us her happy moments with Si Ming, now, break our heart even more

“Everything in this world is fate, but love.” So Xiao Lanhua, chooses to love him, chooses to kill herself to save him. I am sad, world. I am sad

All the dead persons in the battlefield are revived and the statues come to life. Ronghao of course only cares about Chi Di

The mark of the curse is erased on DFQC’s forehead. This is so sad

And the first thing she says is “This is great. You are fine.” All she cares about is him. :( I can’t, I seriously can’t.

He takes her to see the sun. Like he used to take her, back when they were living in Arbiter Hall. Back then he did so to make her feel better, so that he could use her power. Now because she is dying.

“Smile.” This is heartbreaking

And it’s not only that she died, her body was gone too. Poor DFQC

DFQC has recently regained his emotions and he had to feel and understand all of them in such a short time. How can one handle all this pain and grief? Especially a person who has been devoid of feelings for almost all his life?

The 100.000 soldiers were released, there is also truce now for 100 years

All I have to say is that this was painful.

lbfad gets increasingly handwavey on the exact mechanics of things and braincells are sometimes tossed out for scenes with Feelings(fair), and you can tell that lbfad rewrote the script some as it was filming(like the cut xunfeng/danyin plotline), and some things get kind of janky as a result but i DID enjoy the overall tasty meal!

I was so charmed, especially by Ronghao (Rong Hao?) and his very specific deal- his instincts are to be very decent! He loves changheng very sincerely! and yet. Also he's just very funny, truly a character of all time. Love it when it's revealed his evil schemes are "cash in a favour I earned by not being a dickbag several millennia ago." Also love his beatific expression when he realizes he'll probably be executed. Exuding "worth it" from every pore. My frustrations are really an outgrowth of my affections- it's so delightful! It could be just a tiny bit better! I would have been very into a danyin/xunfeng plotline, especially if it brought danyin and xiao lanhua back in contact- I really enjoyed their early interactions and thought they were pretty shippable in their own right. ps. Ronghao's minion should have been Danyin's mom.

Aside from the general continuity mess/ rushed pacing of the last few episodes, I wish they'd made xiao lanhua's perspective and goals a little clearer in the second arc so it doesn't just look like she's desperate to go home and finish being tortured to death, and in general that the moon kingdom conflicts were a bit tighter (Jie Li are you a literal kleptomaniac? why are you stealing from the most powerful man in the universe? is this an expression of your death wish and self loathing). I thought Dongfang Qingcang's personality shift at the very end was a bit too extreme, but my #1 petty irritation is definitely with the way they handled Changheng/Lanhua. I can believe that her feelings changed, but they sold me way too hard on it in the first act for me to believe she didn't have romantic feelings for him at all, and they didn't even bother to come up with something faintly plausible to explain why he left Dongfang Qingcang alone with her soul-seed. He'd never! His whole arc is about how he's actually if anything more willing to ditch his job for her than Dongfang Qingcang (incidentally I love them very much for giving the main ship the real duty vs. love problems. yes!!! thank you for the food). Anyway "the other war god is back I've got to go" is the worst line in the whole show and I can't believe they had a whole thing where she got her memories back but it's never made clear if she remembers him falling in love with her (which is presumably her falling in love with him too!!! Like I really thought at some point they'd address that she has a feelings hangover from something she can't remember and how that ties in with her original magical amnesia but NO! I was denied).

Chinese Music Recs: 2021 Update

I looked back at my blog archive and was surprised to see that my last music recommendations post was in November 2020—almost a year ago! Well I did have my Mandarin Music March challenge, but I’m not counting that. Here’s an update on what I’ve been listening to the last 6 months or so.

蔡健雅 / Tanya Chua I have included Tanya Chua in past recommendation posts and featured a few of her songs on my blog, but I've been listening to her constantly this year, so I wanted to highlight her amazing music again. I am not a huge ballad/slow song fan, but I love hers. And she does great upbeat pop songs too. Favorite album: 双栖动物（2005） Favorite songs: 原谅、达尔文、坐立不安、无底洞、生锈游乐场

沈以诚 / Eason Shen Have you ever wondered what country-inspired Mandopop would sound like? Well you can find out right now. I discovered Eason Shen during my August challenge. He also has more typical pop songs, from slow and calm to uptempo to soulful. Favorite album: 玩家（2020） Favorite songs: 牛仔、寻宝、巴赫旧约（翻唱）、15楼窗外、形容 *First two songs are the ones with country influence.

林宥嘉 / Yoga Lin Yoga Lin is another artist I’d heard of but overlooked for whatever reason. I checked out one of his albums during my August music challenge and instantly fell in love. He’s already become one of my top 10 most played artists of 2021. I would describe a lot of his music as pop rock. Favorite album: 大小说家（2012） Favorite songs: 白昼之月、唐人街、感同身受、慢一点、4号病房

莫文蔚 / Karen Mok I made the mistake of not checking out Karen Mok earlier because I assumed most of her music was in Cantonese—she has actually released more Mandarin albums than Cantonese! Her older albums have some great rock-leaning and almost grungy tracks, and I love some of her more recent slow songs. Favorite album: 如果没有你（2006） Favorite songs: 境外、溜溜的情歌、懒得管、薄荷、女朋友的男朋友

张惠妹 / A-Mei A-Mei is a Mandopop legend. She has a very powerful voice that works well for slow, emotional ballads and face-paced rock songs alike. I see her songs covered on various singing shows often as well. I particularly enjoy her more bombastic ballads and the rock tracks from her AMIT albums. Favorite album: 阿米特（2009） Favorite songs: 也许明天、装醉、开门见山、血腥爱情故事、我最亲爱的

徐佳莹 / LaLa Hsu I’ve known about LaLa Hsu for years, but I never explored her music much until more recently. I was pleasantly surprised by the versatility of her voice and the diversity of her discography! It’s been about 4 years since her last album, so I’m hoping she has something in the works. Favorite album: 心里学（2017） Favorite songs: 你敢不敢、到此为止、理想人生、现在不跳舞要干嘛、灰色

陈势安 / Andrew Tan I first heard of Andrew Tan through a cover of his song 天后 by Jeno Liu 刘力扬. Both versions are great, and I recommend you give both a listen. Anyway, Andrew Tan has a very deep, rich voice with a lot of soul. His newest album has some great pop hits that I can’t get out of my head. Favorite album: 唯一想了解的人（2021） Favorite songs: 唯一想了解的人、兜圈、天后、我们都伤、势在必行

田馥甄 / Hebe Tien Hebe is another artist I neglected to check out sooner because I had heard her song 《不醉不会》 years ago and didn’t care for it. However, her latest album really struck a chord with me, so I’ve been going through her discography. She has some fantastic slow, emotional songs and some stuff with more edge too. Favorite album: 无人知晓（2020） Favorite songs: 讽刺的情书、底里歇斯、终身大事、人间烟火、小幸运

李荣浩 / Li Ronghao Watching Li Ronghao on 青春有你3 inspired me to finally check out his music. I definitely get the hype. His style is pretty distinctive (but I honestly don’t think I can describe it well) and he releases a lot of long 4:30-5:00+ minute songs, so he’s not for everyone, but I saved at least a couple songs from all of his albums. Favorite album: 嗯（2017） Favorite songs: 戒烟、不将就、李白、满座、老友谊

陈奕迅 / Eason Chan I’ve just started exploring Eason Chan’s discography, but so far there’s a lot to like. As a Hong Kong singer, he has Cantonese and Mandarin albums (and some albums with both languages), but I’m just sticking to Mandarin for now. I can’t wait to hear more soon! Favorite album (so far): 认了吧（2007） Favorite songs (so far): 烟味、让我留在你身边、快乐男生、放弃治疗、陪你度过漫长岁月

Just read Chapter 7 😍

I love this fic so much!

I mean, I always love a good longfic, and in yours I get to stretch out and really get comfortable as you reveal all these well thought-out nuances in the world of Shuiyuntian, and specifically enjoy Vianxia as she interacts with all the Canon characters - and of course, with Lord Ronghao himself 😏

This chapter really is going to live rent-free in my head for quite a while: the angst, the continued isolation Vianxia feels, the way Ronghao is already entertaining thoughts of her and then in the same scene lying to himself and to Tai Sui that he could easily kill her (surrrreee you could).

Ronghao remembering how the cauldron was built, the personal cost to him. I love your headcanon of this: the way Tai Sui pulled compassion out of him in the process, giving us a better understanding of how Ronghao got to be so cold.

And then the way you weave in all the other characters adjacent to the canon episode of Orchid's exam - San Sheng, Li Yuan, Lord Yun Zhong, Qingchuan - so Vianxia isn't an unanchored puzzle piece but is very much a living, breathing, reacting character in this world. I just love it. Keep writing!

i’m not super impressed by celebrities donating medical supplies to shanghai and buying weibo trends about it. it’s a nice gesture, but it’s performative and out of touch. it’s not covid that shanghaiers are worried about at this point. people don’t have access to food. frankly i think the gov can afford medical supplies.

i will say that rainie yang and li ronghao sending packages of food is very lovely.

it’s not that celebrities or their teams don’t know how things are in shanghai. everyone is talking about it. but a lot of non-shanghaiers seem to think it’s deserved. (are you starving in your own home? well, you’re a coffee-loving traitor whose municipal gov didn’t lock down a month ago, and you should learn how much your city sucks, so maybe you deserve to starve.)

so i guess sending medical supplies is the more popular thing to do….

BJYX Song #3: If I Were Young

Disclaimer: This is all in my own head. 

Since it’s the 1 year anniversary of the airing of 11th anniversary of ttxs, I will write the companion piece of Nan Hai, “If I Were Young” by Ronghao Li. This song is actually extremely popular across the world. Many people, include multiple cast of CQL, has mention that they like this song. Does this make its significance to ggdd less special? I don’t think so. I think they have their own reasons for liking this song. It just shows how many different stories this song can touch. 

First, I want to mention that I love the music video to this song. The story goes very well with the lyrics and it’s almost like the mini-movie. That being said, it’s actually distracting to me when analyzing haha because I keep thinking of the story in the mv instead of ggdd. So I want to include the video of just the lyrics with full English translation instead of the actual music video.

Similar to the music video, the lyrics describes a story of an middle-age/elderly man looking back at his life with vivid imageries such as paying downpayment and punching the walls. It makes the song much more realistic but also harder to analyze the lyrics. So instead of taking apart the lyrics like I usually do, I will focus more on the overall message of different parts of the lyrics. 

This song was first mentioned by ggdd during ttxs filming. They were asked to show their playlist. This song is part of dd’s playlist. He said his playlist has a lot of sad song and he chose this song to sing as an example. Then, during an interview filmed on 7/29, the day after the airing of this episode of ttxs (7/28), ggdd were asked to describe each other with a song. We all remember that dd said “Nan Hai” without hesitation. What you may not have notice is that gg asked dd “That song you like, what is it called?” And the dd whispered “Nian Shao You Wei (If I Were Young)” and then that’s when gg said it louder into the mic. It’s speculated that ggdd probably watched the ttxs episode the night before so that they would know what song they were referring to. 

Even though the song was used by gg to describe dd, I want to analyze this song from dd’s perspective. Gg chose this song because dd likes it and he thinks it suits him. It also originated from dd’s playlist so I think the song has more significance to dd instead of gg. 

電視一直閃 (The TV keeps flickering) 聯絡方式都還沒刪 (Your contact hasn’t been deleted) 你待我的好 (The care you give me) 我卻錯手毀掉 (I mistakenly destroyed)

This first stance talks about how much care the past lover of the singer gave him and how he regrets giving this person up. The focus here is the symmetry between the meticulous, domestic care described in the song and how gg treats dd. 

也曾一起想 (We use to both want) 有個地方睡覺吃飯 (To have a place to eat and sleep [together]) 可怎麼去熬日夜顛倒連頭款也湊不到 (But how do we get past the difficult life, of working day and night, and not being able to even pay the downpayment)

Of course, ggdd have not been in a situation so dire, thankfully to their parents, that they do not have enough money for food or a roof over their heads. But this part talks about realistic challenges in life and I think it reminds dd about the hardship in the world they will need to face, even for a simple wish of living simply. 

牆板 被我砸爛 到現在還沒修 (The wallboard I smashed hasn’t been repaired to this day) 一碗熱的粥 你怕我沒夠 都留一半帶走 (A warm bowl of porridge, you’re afraid I do not have enough to eat so you only took half)

This stance describes the couple having a fight but the lover still loved the singer so much that they left half their porridge for them. I love this line the most because it sounds exactly like something gg will do. It’s so detailed and caring. 

給你形容 美好今後你常常眼睛會紅 (When I describe our future dream to you, you often have tears in your eyes) 原來心疼我 我那時候不懂 (I never knew until now that it’s because you were concerned about/cherish me)

The word “心疼” is difficult to translate because it has the connotation of being distressed for someone but out of love. Its literal translation if heart+ache. I can see this exact scene playing out with ggdd. They’re uncertain of their future because of so many obvious challenges they will have to face. And I think gg will probably “心疼” dd because dd is so much younger and have to also bear this responsibility. This is dd acknowledging gg’s concern for him and telling him that he has received his love.

假如我年少有為不自卑 (If back when I was young, I was not self-abased) 懂得什麼是珍貴 (And I knew to cherish what was important) 那些美夢 (Those beautiful dreams) 沒給你 我一生有愧 (That I was not able to give you, is something I regret my whole life)

The lyrics in the chorus is sang from the perspective of an older man regretting his decisions and lack of self-worth when he was younger, probably in his 20s. Since dd is still young and in his early 20s, we know that it’s not him looking back on his past. Instead, it’s him projecting to his future and think what his future self would tell his current self. It’s almost as if he’s lecturing himself to not have self-pity right now, cherish the love that is important to him, and be brave about facing the future. He’s warning himself about the regrets the singer of this song has. 

In this part, I also see the parallel with Wangxian. LWJ didn’t take action 13/16 years ago when WWX were bullied by everyone. He was scared because standing up for WWX would be against everything he was taught and his family. He wavered because hasn’t strong enough to fight everyone for WWX. So he lost WWX in the end. Re-meeting 13/16 years later was a second chance that was sent from heaven. This was when he started to fight for his love and protect WWX at all cost. Like dd said himself, LWJ only really realize his love after he has lost it when WWX died. But dd is also adamant that he’s not LWJ. He won’t let himself regret and lose his love like LWJ.

假如我年少有為 知進退 (If back when I was young, I knew when to fight/move forward and when to retreat/move backwards) 才不會讓你替我受罪 (Then I wouldn’t have let you suffer for me)

Similar to the previous stance, this is dd reminding himself to take current actions that he will not regret in the future. The understanding of the phrase “when to fight and when to retreat” exudes maturity. When you’re young and naive, you think that you should always try to fight forward. When you get hurt and become jaded, you become scared and retreats. But real maturity is when you learn the appropriate time to fight and when to take a step back. Dd’s understanding of this phrase shows that he has maturity much beyond his age, which we can see in other ways as well.

婚禮上 多喝幾杯 (On your wedding day, have a few more drinks) 和你現在那位 (With the person you’re with now)

This corresponds to the line in “Nan Hai” that talks about not being able to give you the future another person, in this case a girl, would be able to. The imagery of the wedding in this line is very traditional, at least to a Chinese person. You can vividly see the wedding with red veils, extended family with expectations of grandchildren, and friends drinking not to celebrate you but celebrating the sake of a tradition. Similar to “Nan Hai”, I think dd feels insecure about his age and gender, knowing he is unable to give gg this exact “wedding” and that another person can. But honestly dd, think about Wangxian. The best part about Wangxian’s ending is that they never had a wedding ceremony. Why? Because wedding ceremonies are not for the two people in love. Wedding ceremonies are what people feel like they owe the world. But the world was so cruel to them that they said “f- that” and just eloped on their own. Life belongs to two people. You owe the world nothing.

In summary, this song is dd constantly reminding himself to make the right decision right now so that he will not regret it in the future. From both “Nan Hai” and this song, we can see that even though dd seems straightforward, confident, and unfazed to what the world thinks of him, deep down, he’s actually fragile, insecure, and scared. Dd has the tendency to want to be strong and he wants to give gg everything. But everyone has limits and these songs represents his fear of not being able to live up to his own promises. It’s also because of this fragile interior that dd is attracted to gg. Even though gg seems nice, easy-going, and gentle on the outside, he’s actually very strong, confident, and secure on the inside. This is evident from my analysis of “If I Were A Song.” Gg is confident about the care he can provide for dd. These two love each other, need each other, and complete each other.

bRUH DO I HAVE CPOP RECS

I don’t really know how much exposure you’ve had to cpop so I’m just going to list a bunch of people/groups I’m into and hopefully you’ll find your shtick?

Hua Chenyu 华晨宇 A god among men. Literally has the most amazing voice ever. He became popular after appearing on and winning 2013′s Super Boy and actually became a mentor for other wannabe singers on another singing competition show. (That’s how I discovered him, lol.) I would buy all three of his albums if iTunes wasn’t rude and didn’t have them available on my iTunes Store.

Jolin Tsai 蔡依林 A queen. She’s actually pretty well-known in c-ent, so if you’ve been into cpop for even just a little, you’ve probably heard of her name. I’ve only really listened to her more recent stuff since I just got into her music, but it slaps. She also openly supports LGBT+ people, so fuck yeah. We stan a woke queen.

Wu Jiacheng 伍嘉成 A more obscure artist on the list, Wu Jiacheng is a member from XNINE who recently released an EP. His style is more funk so it might not be your cup of tea, but I absolutely love it. He also adores cats. The title of one of his songs literally translates to A Docile Cat. Please check him out and the rest of XNINE (if Wajijiwa would stop splitting them up) on 玉儿 YUER’s YouTube.

Li Ronghao 李荣浩 A sweet, sweet man. There’s not one evil bone in his body. His music’s pretty soothing and soulful. I need to listen to more of his music, tbh. He recently got engaged though!! Congrats, my dude!

I’m just gonna plug XNINE because I remember watching the show they were created from four years ago. Not a lot of people know who they are, sadly. Some of the members are becoming more popular now, like Wu Jiacheng when CYZJ aired and Xiao Zhan now as the Untamed is airing, but Wajijiwa still loves to keep Guo Zifan locked up in the fucking basement. They don’t have that much music so you don’t have a lot of catching up to do.

Disclaimer: Fun fact about the cpop industry, idol cpop groups have seriously flopped until last year with iQiyi’s rendition of Mnet’s Produce 101 show! So basically any cpop group you plan to stan will likely not have many songs out or their members won’t even be singing but will be acting instead. It’s a fun time. Keep that in mind as you check out any of the following cpop groups below.

NINE PERCENT The group that was formed out of Idol Producer (iQiyi’s Produce 101). They’re all very lovable boys and each one has at least one single out that you can listen to! They only have one EP out though because their company hates them and can’t align their schedules to do activities together. All of cpop stan twitter has heard about them. Their music is pretty good. Their leader Cai Xukun 蔡徐坤 has come out with many songs and three of the members are also part of the group NEX7. 

UNINE The group that formed out of Idol Producer Season 2! (Technically it’s called Qing Chun You NI because iQiyi got slammed with copyright violations from Mnet, ha.) iQiyi is doing a WAY better job of keeping them together as a group so definitely check them out! They just debuted this past May and already have an EP out. 

Other groups from produce-like shows: R1SE, Rocket Girls, BlackACE, New Storm.

TFBoys I don’t listen to their music but they’re like the og boy group. They debuted when the members were super young and now they’re all grown up and going to college! So cute. They’re like the only idol-ish cpop group that’s managed to survive all these years and get some international recognition, so that’s why I included them on the list.

WayV 威神V Technically just NCT China, but I’m still gonna promote them as if they’re cpop (when I kind of just consider them Chinese kpop. There’s a slight variation in my book. Just trust me). I really like their EP and all of the boys are super cute. They’re still not too popular IN CHINA in comparison to the other groups above, but they’re well-known abroad. So, you get to deal with their international fans (and all their nonsense) a lot but not with their c-fans.

UNIQ Half-Korean, half-Chinese group, UNIQ was formed back in 2014 but due to China banning hallyu, they couldn’t do many promotions in Korea and their careers never took off. They released one album and countless other songs. All five of the members are decently ranging to very popular in their respective native countries (Seungyoun with PDX101, Yixuan with AFO, Wenhan with QCYN, Yibo with the Untamed and other dramas, Sungjoo with his dramas), they just haven’t really been ~together~ as a group. Hopefully they’ll be together again, but even so, it’s worth it just to follow the members individually because they’re all so sweet and talented and crackheads.

d-9 zhangjing’s vocals

here we go yay first day of zhangjing moments! i think my title is pretty clear so let’s jump into it ;-D so zhangjing is nine percent’s main vocal... his voice was the first thing that i noticed about him and that’s basically what got me to stan (pick?) him :*) i’ve really come to admire also his singing techniques and the entire stage presence thing he has going on?? like how in the world does zhangjing manage to make all his live performances even better than the studio recordings??? okay at this point i could probably ramble about this for an entire day so let’s get to the actual stuff!

1. 我怀念的 what i miss (idp stage)

this is my top top top performance from idol producer (( hi mom i’m not crying )) aka the point of time in my life that i decided i was gonna stan zhangjing!!!!!! i’ve probably watched this performance wayyyyyyy too many times from multiple angles and even the original untuned fancam version (probably not very objective pov: zhangjing actually sounds better when there’s no tuning involved?? like there’s more power and emotion in his voice yaknow) coincidentally it’s also the only performance that zhangjing was the center position for! apparently they had a 27h competition for it wow but i really love how zhangjing was so passionate while singing :””) i guess he wasn’t exaggerating when he said that his teacher cried when he sang this song oijrfjoasnckdk also li ronghao’s praises! so proud of this bub aww

2. 飘向北方 stranger in the north (the rap of china)

iconic!!!!!! this was the performance that got a lot of people recognising zhangjing as more than just another idol who claims to be able to sing ;;;-) zhangjing got invited on the show 中国新说唱 the rap of china as a special guest (li ronghao was invited as well!) there were many netizens who doubted his capabilities when the info was first released... (especially bc zhangjing is the only member of nine percent who doesn’t rap and the other special guests were all acclaimed singers) but he proved them wrong with his powerful vocals aaaaaaa it’s amazing how well the balance between the rapper (那吾克热 a contestant on the show) and vocal voices turned out!!! zhangjing’s humming was really soothing and toned-down (at the start especially) for the rapper to stand out more and draw attention to the rhythm of the song, but he really went all out when it was his time to shine!!!!! those high notes!!!!!! were incredible and the rappers on the show probably agree with me on this hahah

3. 饥饿30 (malaysia 30hour famine)

will probably do up another post to talk more about this event bc i think it’s super meaningful ;;-) but yep another amazing performance that i can’t get over just yet hahah so zhangjing participated in this event and was one of the invited guests for their countdown concert (zhangjing and all of the volunteers went through 30hours of not eating hence the name lol) and this was the first time he sang his first two songs in AZORAland live!! 一颗星的夜 (the night of one star) and 一个人记得 (one remembers) are both beautiful songs full of meaning! i love the way zhangjing kinda changed up some parts of the song aaaaa (he said that he faces a dilemma choosing how the recorded version sounds like all the time so he promised that he would sing all the versions for us to hear :@) what a precious bub) can’t believe he still had the energy to sing so well :-0 a side note: i really like the video linked for 一个人记得 bc it’s a comparison between the live (left ear) and studio recording (right ear)!!! i’ve probably said this too much already but i really think zhangjing sounds better live aaaaaaaaaa it’s my dream to listen to him sing live T^T

companies probably saw how successful s1 was and how many groups were able to debut after it and are sending so many of their new trainees to gain exposure

i can understand why he’s so frustrated because his generation and generations before that were people who would be trainees for like 4+ years and fighting for years beyond that for their first stage and with this program it’s just made it so much easier for people who haven’t had any training at all to get their first stage and debut afterwards with their company

zhang pd is pissed off oh damn

ngl their performance wasn’t that great i will admit but they have potential it just might not be the right place for them to train whilst on a survival show

and what he said about showing your respect for the stage and telling them why you want to be a star was all fair enough and tbh some of their answers weren’t the best

okay some people are pissed off about what he said about people all wanting to be rappers but having to be singers first

maybe s1 wasn’t the best in terms of the debuting group and vocals and rappers all getting A grade

but at least in s2 it’s changed and he’s addressing the fact that people who want to debut in a boy’s group can’t actually sing to begin with and just want to rap their way through

to be in a boy’s group you really need to want it you need to be passionate about your future and you need to first of all love what you do

Career and love reading for 李榮浩 (Li Ronghao)

How I do my celebrity/key figure readings: I take a look at their photographs and then share my thoughts.

李榮浩 or Li Ronghao is a talented songwriter, composer and producer. He is right now at a career high. This high in his career will last from this year till 2021. He will have many projects like an upcoming album that will likely be released in 2020. He will also help his fiancée, Rainie Yang, come out with her new album. This new album of hers is already in the works and will likely be released either near the end of 2019 or in 2020. 

Li Ronghao is very smart and manipulative. He knows what projects will bring him great success and takes only those that will benefit him. He knows exactly what’s popular these days to people’s ears and writes to cater to them, as well as to keep to his style. He is also very sociable and has strong networking skills. Rainie, too, has extensive contacts in the industry, so overall, they are a duo to be reckoned with. The two are very ambitious and very work-oriented, so they match here. The issue comes when it comes to their work mixing more and more with each other as they continue their relationship. There will start to be more conflict on both sides, inevitably. Both are actually very stubborn and very opinionated. Li Ronghao may have let Rainie “win” or compromise with her during the early days of their relationship, but by the end of 2019 - 2020 latest, his patience for her wears thin. 

Right now, the two are still in the pure honeymoon phase. They are both very happy that they can fully claim each other as theirs, especially Rainie. Rainie has always had to stay private about her love affairs in life. She’s more paranoid about being discovered when she’s in love due to bad experiences in the past. She hasn’t had very good relationships in the past, to be honest, besides her first relationship. All the others . . . she got more hurt in them, she feels. (I wasn’t going to turn this into a relationship analysis for her and him, but somehow it just went this way. Probably just their relationship gonna . . . shake up his career later.)

The honeymoon phase starts to break down once they start more planning for the wedding. More issues arise between them that they didn’t expect. They will realize sides of their partners that they both did not know exist and cannot really bear. Li Ronghao will soon feel that Rainie is too overcontrolling and picky about the wedding process. It may seem like Rainie is pretty chill about many things, but deep down she is a big control freak. She cannot stand imperfection, especially when it comes to work related stuff. The wedding planning, she will dabble in, even though I would advise her not to do that. She’ll end up controlling the wedding planner and take over the whole project herself. This will stress her out when she’s also trying to manage her career. I see her likely taking another big acting gig in late 2019 - early 2020, while releasing that album of hers. You can imagine the huge pressure she has on her, particularly with her perfectionist attitude. Due to the past media pressure from focus on her relationships, she doesn’t want them to pick up on anything “wrong” with this one. She will keep trying to maintain that happy, relaxed couple image when really they do fight . . .pretty bad at times. The fights will get more frequent and more intense to the point where there will be broken plates or potentially the police called to the scene. I see that likely happening in early 2020 - mid 2021, depends on Li Ronghao’s patience. 

Li Ronghao, on the other hand, has a far more laissez-faire attitude towards wedding planning. He just wants something simple like at the beach with some close friends and family. No need for anything big. Rainie, although she’ll say she’d want something simple and low key, deep down, she does want that fairy-tale wedding where everyone gushes over. She’ll feel frustrated having to go with his flow even though she’s also worried about what others will think about her if she spends so much on the wedding. Rainie, simply, overthinks a lot and that will also cause strain to their relationship. 

Li Ronghao generally is a patient person. He chose Rainie because she’s talented, smart, funny, and hardworking. He sees that she can be a strong business asset to his career too. He’s not dumb at all. He would never marry a nobody. It’d either be a top star or a woman who came from a rich/powerful family. He’s not going to settle for anything less because he doesn’t want the woman to be leeching off of him. He’s not that generous, to be honest, and he expects the woman to also pay for other expenses and share the household fees. In front of others, he will act like the one that’s very generous and pay for Rainie or his friends. He wants to have face and strongly needs a partner who can give him that.

Rainie may initially be able to give him that, but later on, her strong-headed and outspoken personality will not be able to stand his “acting”, so she feels. She doesn’t get why to others, he will act like he is that generous husband who spoils her with all these things and pays for everything when back at home she also has to pay half of the costs. (When they were dating, he would be the one to pay for everything.) This change will make her feel very frustrated and cheated.

They will also disagree strongly on what her album should be like. I advise that he not be a producer/song writer for her album in any manner, but I see that he will do something for her and she wants him to anyway. They’ve worked together before, but not so extensively where he oversees more of the whole album. The wedding planning, the working together, and the uncovering of different lifestyles/habits will affect Li Ronghao’s career and his relationship with Rainie. 

I do see the two of them marrying either in 2020 or 2021, more 2020. If it’s a 2019 wedding, then that’s even worse for them, in my opinion. It’s too fast and more secrets from both sides will uncover in a worse way.

if iqiyi’s goal is to majorly piss off everyone watching then they have done a fabulous job :) thank you for once again letting everyone know what a trashy job of editing you continuously push out. if your picks include shi zhan, yao chi, the golden boys, and only those boys you will be a very happy viewer this episode because istg if you add all their clips tgt it probbly amounts to half the episode. thank you for once again screwing over he changxi, didnt see that one coming! you sure pulled a fast one on us :) like when changxi was talking about guan yue during the polling results! it must be so hard to edit that ugly black blob on him, huh? and thank you for trying SOSSO hard to give lin mo some screentime!!! all those still shots of practicing and comforting were probably WAY too out of ur budget to edit right? thats why u decided to just leave 怎么了 group totally unedited, good call. and like thank you for showing the same five boys over and over again so we know to vote for them to fulfill your agenda! at least you show consistency right? :) 

okay lets just push away the anger because its been a few days and my anger has manifested into dissapointment and just drained me. i mean there were some perks about this episode. number one being brave team practicing tgt and just acting like total idiots LOL

spirit of the knight looked absolutely bomb and im sure everyone there watching it live was probbly blown away ahhh what i would give to see it live. im sure changxi wowed everyone with his first on stage performance!!! (esp judging by the votes) and lin mo was such a good leader, spotting all their mistakes and constantly worrying for his group and helping with their emotional state too (huaiwei). 

my boi jiayi got centre!!! he was so unsure about himself and im glad that he got to finally show off his beautiful singing and slay that high note! wow much stable such voice (this meme is ded im sorry) but yeah i hope that performance instilled some confidence into him, esp for his singing abilities. wenhan was such a good team member by allowing someone else to get that centre position becuase everyone deserved to experience that ;;;;

what happened with yangyang was basically a repeat of last year with fcc and very good. all the good rappers were in one group and then a really popular trainee with very little skill was put into a group with lesser known trainees and completely wiped the floor with everyone else. its bound to happen, knowing everything is based on popularity. but thanks iqiyi for shoving into our faces how hard he worked as if to juxtapose that no one else worked that hard and that he deserved it. :))) he did try hard but im sure every single trainee put just as much sweat and tears into their own performance. but w.e! once again just something that grinds my gears, no one is to blame. 

i was actually very sad when yao chi didnt get centre but haofan really did deserve it! it was such a beautiful performance, going onto my playlist for sure! and yeah yao chi fans probbly had field day with this episode LOL dw i did too. hes really just a cinnamon roll ;;;; shi zhan is so fricken relatable??? do everything out of spite. oh you dont think i can do this??? well proceed to watch me do this exact thing and succeed. :)))) man hes lucky hes cute and has a stable fanbase LOL

lastly my favourite team of the episode!! kou cong, longhan, li you, hongyi, and bohan. they made me laugh so much espeicially with the journey to the west comparisons. why do they make so much sense. lol and kou cong and longhan’s relationship with longhan being so troublesome, kou cong wanting to beat him up with a shoe LOL. hongyi nagging all of them like a chant, telling them to eat strange things to keep up with their health. 

when yuu look past the shitty editing, the boys are a lot of fun and its really satisfying to gauge their dynamics and watch them improve! even though their personalities arnt so transparently shown as compared to first season, they are still a very loveable bunch. it just takes a while to look past all the bullshit and not be pissed that trainees that you like continuously get pushed aside for the more popular ones. sigh. whatever. im just gonna end on the note that i accidentally came across a spoilers post and couldnt help myself and saw who stayed and its really discouraging :/ ill most likely continue to watch to see if there will be come changes to top9 and if ppl who actually really deserve this chance are able to get it despite the awful editing (cough changxi cough mingming cough hanyu cough)
