Omg some Rex fluff?? No 60 from prompt list one, “But I want to hear you sing.” Can you imagine Rex saying that?? So cute my heart 🥺🥺
A/N: Welp I had fun writing this, I’ve written it as a part ii to The Captain and The Medic - which if you click, it’ll take you to part i, but as I usually do, it can also be read independently!
The Captain and The Medic - Part ii
Word Count: 1.9k Pairing: Captain Rex x Reader Summary: You got reassigned as the new 212th medic, and during a new campaign, Rex gets injured. Chaos and stress ensues. Partly because of the 3 jedi who can’t seem to sit still.
Tags :DDD : @peacelandbread @valkyrieofthehighfae @mcu-padawan @catsnkooks @littlevodika @cherrykenobi @hounding-around @lesqui @captainrexstan
Medics were becoming few and far between as the war dragged out, even the Jedi healers were short-handed. It was for this reason that you were reassigned after a year and a half of serving with the 501st. Admittedly, you weren’t far, only going to the 212th.
You already knew a fair few members among the ranks, having to handle General Kenobi’s penchant for also never seeing a medic, something that the bastard well-respected Jedi Master had regretfully passed on down his lineage. You’d seen Waxer and Boil, when they returned with a secret small creature of some kind that needed medical attention, and you had a bone knitter on hand for Cody, who still had not shaken the habit of punching kriffing droids – which you had pleaded him to stop doing, if not for his own sake for yours, because using one of them was a rather tedious task.
It made for good entertainment, and it kept you busy, but it just didn’t compare to seeing Rex every day.
So when you were placed on the on the same campaign, excitement flooded through you, in the form of pure elation, drowning out the weariness of the amount of injuries that came with the news of a new campaign. That brings you to now, where you were waiting not so patiently with Cody and General Kenobi, expecting an arrival shortly from the 501st. Anakin Skywalker was the first off the ship immediately heading for Kenobi, with Ahsoka following half a step behind him. Ahsoka grinned widely and waved at you, and you let out a laugh at the girl’s antics. Giving a questioning glance to her Master, which he responded with a nod, she suddenly burst into a run, heading straight for you. You let out a low grunt when she smacked into you, and squeezed tightly. When Cody snickered, you silenced him with a quick glare.
“Hello, Commander Tano.”
“Hey Doc!”
General Skywalker nodded at you from where he stood with Kenobi, and pulling away from Ahsoka, you sent them both a curious glance.
“You lot haven’t been causing too much trouble for Kix while I’ve been gone?”
“Oh come on, Doc, we would never.” A new voice answered, unfiltered by the helmet he usually wore. You grinned and spun back around, to see your Captain stepping off the ramp, grinning all the while. You laughed and shot into his arms, smiling when he kissed your temple. Without hesitation, you took his face in your hands and kissed him hard. He grinned against your lips, technically neither of you were on duty yet. Your heart swelled in that moment, even seconds together – while not even close to being enough – after a few weeks made you almost blissful. He pulled away for a second, and tapped a finger on your wrist guard.
“Good to see you’ve replaced our stripes already.” He gestured to the newer, thick yellow line that was now painted next to the two blue, already starting to chip away after weeks of working.
“Oh please.” You rolled your eyes and gently slapped his arm, you wanted to catch up more, fill him in on the past few days, but Skywalker interrupted the two of you.
“Alright lovebirds, sorry doc, but I need to steal my Captain away, you can have him back when this is over and done with.” You laughed, but leant up and pressed a kiss on his cheek before he started in the same direction as the General’s and Commander’s.
“Just make sure you return him to me in one piece please? ” Cody had whacked him on the shoulder then, and you grinned harder. “Oh, and Cody?” The Commander spun and looked at you, and took in your folded arms and disgruntled expression. “Do not punch any droids today, otherwise I can and will amputate your arm.” The poor man looked thoroughly disturbed as Ahsoka broke out with a bright grin and elbowed them both, and Rex spun and gave you a thumbs up, mid-laugh. He mouthed an ‘I love you’ and begun to follow after Kenobi and Skywalker, Cody and Ahsoka still trying to tease him. You watched as he shoved them back, as they disappeared down a corridor and out of sight. Despite the light-hearted nature of the interaction, you couldn’t shake the feeling that today would go badly.
Your heart was racing when he was brought in. There was blood spilling from a gash on his forehead, and you could see when his chest plate moved with his breathing, it wasn’t quite right, rising in two separate motions. It had stopped you from moving, eyes staring after him as Kix started his work. Your muscles were begging you to let you run to him, to help Kix in anyway you could, despite knowing that he was a very capable medic, and no further harm would come to him here.
Your patient, who when you turned around was giving you an almost amused smirk under all the dirt that was caked on him, cleared his throat.
“You know, you could just go and help him, I’ll be fine.” You made a noise half-way between a sigh and a groan, before shoving your anxieties away. He’ll be fine. You had worse problems to deal with, like preventing a dumbass wise Jedi that didn’t know what taking care of himself first was from escaping the medbay.
“And leave you to try and escape again? No chance, General.” He flinched gently as you prodded his ribs, which you determined were likely broken on account of Grievous hitting him with a well-aimed kick. Kenobi feigned a confused look.
“I would nev-” You rolled your eyes before he cut himself off with a groan as you pressed against another rib.
“Yes, you would. You’re already going to be here for the night, don’t force me to make it two,” his smirk flattened as he gave you a blank look. “If I had half a mind, I would keep you here for a week, considering I’ve now had to deal with yours, your padawan’s and your padawan’s padawan bad habits of not coming to or just plain trying to escape the medbay!”
Hours later, once the sun had set, you’d finally gotten the stubborn Jedi to remain in place. Kix was around the medbay somewhere, and almost everyone in here was silent, in a dead sleep after a hard-fought battle. You’d started singing a lullaby in mando’a under your breath, hoping that actively thinking about the lyrics would keep you awake, even as your hands were trembling slightly and your feet ached. You wouldn’t have to stay in the medbay too much longer, Kix would wake up soon and take over the rest of the night shift, as all there is left to do in these hours is monitor heart rates and make sure those who were awake weren’t in pain.
You stopped by Rex’s side, looking up at the monitor, all the while you kept singing quietly. You looked down to your datapad to enter the reading, and noticed that the beeping of the machine had increased. Sure enough, when you looked again, his heart rate was much higher than what it had been earlier, on instinct you felt your own skyrocket at the thought of something being wrong. You immediately stopped singing and turned to look at his face, where his nose was scrunched, and you could see the movements of his eye beneath his eyelids.
“Rex?”
And one of his eyes cracked open slightly, you sighed heavily in relief. He’s awake.
His mouth pulled into a soft smile to mirror your face, both of his eyes trying to blink the tiredness away. Your eyes began to water as you took a seat beside his bed, and took one of his hands in your own. Slowly, he squeezed back.
“Hey, cyar’ika.” His voice was gravelly and thick with sleep, but it was a good sign that he could recognise you and speak at all.
“Hello, my love,” You said, brushing your hand against his cheek, and letting out a quiet, airy laugh when he blinked slowly and leant heavily into your hand. He was quite possibly still feeling the effects of the pain medication he had been put on hours ago. You noticed his eyes started flicking around the medbay, darting from patient to patient. “Can you tell me what the date is and then what happened?”
Still blinking slowly, one hand rubbed his face, and the other squeezed yours again. He spoke the correct date and then began rattling off details about the mission, from Commander Tano running ahead and Skywalker nearly losing his mind at the teenager, all the way up until he very nearly got blown up. You took in a deep breath when he finished his recount, all his memories were intact.
You raised his hand to your lips and pressed a kiss across his knuckles. Tiredly smiling at you, he reached up and tucked a hair behind your ear. The relief you felt was palpable as he seemed to be mostly there. You stood from the chair, untangling his hands from your hair, and checking the box on the datapad, signifying no signs of serious damage. You stared at his face once more, eyeing the cut on his temple and just taking in all the details.
“Alright, Rex, get some more rest in please. You’re likely going to be cleared tomorrow, so you’re going to need to be in good shape.” He groaned and grabbed your hand again, moving his thumb in small circles. Okay, maybe he was still on too many meds.
“Riddur, you need sleep, and I have more patients to see.” In an unusual show of emotion, he pouted.
“But I just want to hear you sing?” You flushed, knowing that he had most definitely heard you when you first walked over. You laughed softly, and brushed his cheek again.
“Is that what it’ll take for you to go back to sleep?” He spent a second thinking on it, before he nodded once, barely perceptible if you weren’t standing beside his head. Definitely still feeling the after-effects of the meds. You leant down and kissed him gently, stepping back before murmuring the soothing words in mando’a. He sighed and his eyes slid shut, as you walked away, allowing him to drift off, listening to the soft-spoken voice that sounded like honey and reminded him of a home that he had with only one person.
BONUS:
“No, you are not cleared!”
“I feel fine-”
“That means the pain meds are working! General Kenobi, three of your ribs are broken, and literally every other rib is bruised!”
“Doc, I’m sure Obi-wan is-”
“No, Skywalker, he is not! My medbay, my rules! And my rule is that he stays until he’s healed!”
“We outrank you, you know that right?”
“Not here, you don’t!”
“But-”
“Don’t you start, I could confine you here as well! Don’t think I didn’t see you injure your shoulder!”
“Kark, nope, Ahsoka, let’s go.”
“Anakin!”

Dark Fives AU Timeline
The Dark Fives AU is an AU based on the concept of a force sensitive Fives. This will be a general overview of the draft timeline, it may be subject to change as I begin to develop the AU further, but it should give you a general idea of what happens.
This took me so long to write oof, putting it under a read more to save your dash space!
To begin with, Fives didn’t really see himself as being any different to his other brothers. For the most part he just assumed that everyone had finely tuned senses, and thanks to a bit of a small attention span during his younger years he didn’t really notice when strange things happened.
Items he’d placed in a certain location would move closer to him and he would just assume that he must have put it closer to himself than he’d originally thought, or he would anticipate something before it happened and just put it down as dumb luck or a funny coincidence. Echo was usually too buried in regs or whatever exercise they were completing to notice these small tells either.
This advantage in skill over the other cadets was one of the many reasons their squad was fast tracked to their final test at a young age.
His skills give him an edge during battle and later during ARC training, but for a long while his abilities remain largely dormant.
Fives, occasionally, unconsciously influences the emotions of his brothers when feeling a particularly strong emotion – when he was agitated about failing the test the first time his anger rubbed off onto Hevy and Echo who then began to fight – he’s entirely unaware when he’s doing it, but it seems to effect Echo the most prominently.
When Fives loses Echo his abilities cause almost the entire 501st to plunge into a deep sadness as a wave of depressing emotions crashes over them from Fives. The Jedi notice something is bothering their troops but can’t quite pinpoint it thanks to Fives withdrawing himself from everyone else for a while.
It’s on Umbara when Fives finally cracks. After all the stress and horror that Krell put them all through he finds himself alone in one of the unused hangars, pacing and muttering angrily to himself. He’s worked himself up and when his emotions reach their peak he can’t help shouting, releasing all of his pent-up emotions at once.
Everything surrounding him is suddenly all violently throw away from him in all directions and it’s like the floodgates have finally been opened. He can feel the force as it all pours into his mind for the first time, whispering, shouting, screaming at him all at once. His panic only makes things worse; his mind being filled with images, thoughts and feelings of brothers all throughout the galaxy.
And he can feel them all dying.
It isn’t until Rex decides to come looking for him almost half an hour later that he’s finally found. Everything within several meters of his person is floating in the air dangerously, but Rex only needs to take one look at the state his vod’ika is in to brave the danger. He’s shaking and finding it impossible to get down enough oxygen, begging for the horrible voices and feelings to get out of his head and leave him alone.
Rex holds him for what feels like hours, struggling to get through to the distressed trooper and fearful of making the situation any worse than it already is. Eventually, however, Fives is exhausted from his panicking and begins to slowly drift off, calming slightly as he does so. It’s only then that Rex decides to call Kix to give him a once over and is able to get a somewhat shaky explanation.
They decide that until they can completely confirm what is happening to Fives, they won’t speak to the Jedi, their trust too shaken after killing Krell earlier that very day.
It becomes very difficult for Fives to hide his abilities after that – clones are used to expressing their emotions with one another, but due to having received no training on force abilities Fives finds almost anything can set off his abilities and it begins to become a bit of a hazard during battle.
Deciding that he’s becoming a danger to his brothers, Fives begins to experiment with the force during his downtime in the hopes of being able to control his skills. Without instruction on how to use the force he finds himself getting easily frustrated by it, but as a result finds that getting agitated is perhaps the easiest way of getting the force to do as he wishes.
When Tup attacks a Jedi, Fives senses what he’s going to do just before he does it, but it still unable to reach his brother in time. For a long while afterwards he blames himself for not reacting fast enough, despite all the training he’d been doing with his abilities.
Much of the arc continues the same way as it is portrayed in the show, up until the final confrontation with the Coruscant Guard. Able to sense Fox’s intention to fire at him, Fives reaches out with the force, throwing back the approaching troopers into the side of the large crates behind them. While none of the Guard are seriously injured by his attack, they are rendered largely unconscious from the strength of the attack.
Without the Guard to disrupt them, Fives is able to pass on all the information he’d learned from his time on Kamino and from the chancellor. Anakin is still highly skeptical, but with the convincing of Rex he’s willing to at least let them do a little investigating on their own.
While Anakin and Rex inform the chancellor that Fives was killed during a shootout – alleging that his body was lost when it fell down a nearby shaft to the lower levels – Kix and Jesse are quick to escort their brother to a disused medical facility within the GAR where they can begin some tests.
Finding the presence of the inhibitor chip is easy enough, but after a lengthy discussion they decide to allow Kix some time to study the chip and try to figure out just how it works. Anakin is very much interested in Fives’ force sensitivity, but unfortunately is unable to find the time to try and help the trooper hone his abilities, especially when the outer rim sieges begin.
Unfortunately for Fives, he is barred from joining his brothers in battle and forced to remain back on Coruscant by himself, unable to leave certain areas in case he is discovered. During this alone time, he is able to channel his frustration into strengthening his abilities.
When Echo is saved by Rex, Anakin and the Bad Batch he returns to Coruscant after being informed that Fives is still alive and the two of them are finally able to reunite.
Anakin is more than angered when Kix later confirms their fears about just what the chips were intended for and he immediately gives the order for the 501st to have their chips removed as subtly as possible.
When Anakin confronts Palpatine, he brings with him Rex, Fives and Echo (who insists he won’t let Fives go without him). Palpatine is all too happy to admit to everything, deciding that it’s time to try and turn Anakin to the dark side. For the most part he succeeds, but makes the mistake of insulting the gathered clones. What he wasn’t expecting was for one of them to practically throw him across the room with the force. He especially wasn’t expecting his loyal trooper, Fox, to draw his blaster and shoot him squarely through the back.
Fox is loyal to the chancellor, but his loyalty is to the Republic first and foremost, and there’s no way he can allow someone who has openly admitted to manipulating both his brothers and both sides of the war. He’s never been so happy that people tend to forget his presence in the room.
Skywalker takes over as chancellor, stating that it was Palpatine’s last act before he died after being gunned down by a ‘rogue bounty hunter’. With a little bit of Echo’s newfound computer skills, they’re able to come up with a flawless video that they show in place of the actual security footage that has already been erased and replaced.
His first act as chancellor is to free all clones, offering them all rights as full Republic citizens and permanently ending all clone production, passing on the information about the chips to all medics in the GAR. The senate is in uproar over the decision, but there’s nothing they can do about it, Anakin has the entire clone army on his side.
The Jedi, too, are upset by this development, but they are quickly outlawed and chased from Coruscant. Many of them die, but not as many as in the original purge. Cody assists Obi-wan in leaving Coruscant in secret, but refuses to leave his brothers behind and elects to stay with them in the GAR. During all the chaos the wolfpack and a large portion of the 104th are able to flee Coruscant with their Jedi and several younglings in tow – while no reported sightings are ever confirmed, it’s suspected that they’re all living together somewhere in the outer rim. Many other commanders and captains decide to leave the army, sneaking their Jedi out with them as they go.
Without Dooku and Sidious to lead them and assist war efforts from behind the scenes the war is brought to a close, taking only a few months longer. The planets and systems that had defected from the Republic are brought back into the fold and quickly after the first Galactic Empire is formed.
The Kaminoans attempt to keep many of the young clones who are yet to be born, but Emperor Skywalker, who has recently become a father himself, refuses to allow these children to be kept as slaves and sends in his men to take them by force. Fives can’t recall a more glorious sight than watching Tipoca City burn, all his brothers safely by his side.
Anakin takes on training Fives personally and within a few years he is anointed as the first member and leader of their new Imperial Inquisition. He trains force sensitive younglings to use their gifts and even manages to find a few fellow force sensitive brothers who quickly become a part of a tight knit group of fearsome enforcers of the Empire’s will.
Rex and Cody share the burden of commanding the GAR, and Rex continues to serve as Anakin’s most trusted advisor. Cody on the other hand oversees the training of civillians who hope to join the GAR, ensuring that their skills are sharp enough to be considered for entry. It’s a hard job for them both, but they’re determined to ensure that standards are upkept for both the safety of the Empire and their brothers who chose to continue serving in the army.
Echo works closely with the special forces, reporting directly to Rex, Cody, and occasionally Anakin. He meets up with the Bad Batch and they quickly become a formidable team and good friends. He of course returns back to Coruscant regularly to meet up with Fives and the two of them often exchange crazy stories from their work.

Rexani5 - enemies to lovers.
My friend, easy as pie and this got way longer than I thought it would.
To set the stage, let’s say Anakin wasn’t allowed to become a Jedi or left at age 12.
He is, of course, followed by Obi-Wan because I live for that banter and BrOtp
Anakin returns to Tatooine and at the age of let’s say 16, leads and wins a slave rebellion (and becomes the leader of Free Tatooine at 17 much to his dismay and Obi-Wan’s amusement)
Since Tatooine is out in the Outer Rim, the Core and Senate really do not care one smidgen. They have the beginnings of the Separatist Crisis making waves. What does one little planet matter?
It very much matters after over two years later when it comes to light that Free Tatooine has a very strong sense of community and will not stand for Slavery. Anywhere.
Slavers have gone missing. Planets that make profits from slavery have found themselves with their leader mysteriously murdered. Even the criminal network have rumours of bounty hunters winding up dead on the Hutts’ doorstep after being sent after Skywalker and those around him
(Anakin is a little insulted his bounty is only half a million credits.)
A great many planets have entered into an agreement with Free Tatooine to wipe out corruption and slavery.
Orn Free Taa, in a moment of consciousness, announces Ryloth’s alignment with Tatooine. (Greedy, corrupt bastard he may be, but he does love his people who have been the target for slavers for generations.)
This results in a very tense three-way stand-off between The Republic, The Separatist Alliance and The Freedom Coalition.
The Separatists did try to get The Coalition on side but swiftly told where to stick it.
The Clone Wars do not break out primarily because neither the Separatists nor the Republic can afford to fight a three-way war.
They are also very aware that the Freedom Coalition can, thanks to an alliance with various pirates, private security firms and support that would have been on one side or the other but have chosen the Coalition.
Even the neutrals are smaller.
Sidious is fuming.
It nearly breaks out when both the droid and clone armies are found but Speaker Shmi Skywalker sends a message to both sides that promises swift retribution if either side engages.
The Separatist have known connections to the Hutts and various slaving organisations.
The Republic has the Clones. Enough said there.
This doesn’t mean that either side won’t take pot-shots at each other for a year or so.
So we come to the part where our trio meet.
Captain Rex of the 501st is sent with a squad to scout on Tatooine and bring any information about the leader to the Republic. His team comprises of ARC Troopers Fives and Echo, Kix, Jesse, Hardcase and Dogma.
Everyone was a little surprised at Dogma’s inclusion but the guy proved to be very sneaky and Echo’s influence has loosened him up a bit.
Fives and Rex have been hovering on the edge of something for a while now but Rex doesn’t want to start anything while he’s still Fives’ superior officer.
Fives thinks that’s a load of Sith spit but is willing to wait.
Scouting team lands on Tatooine no problem.
Okay, slight problem. They disturb a Krayt dragon.
Fortunately, they are saved by the arrival of a blond male native who uses various calls to scare off the dragon and rescue the group.
The charming smirk and casual demeanour means Fives falls a little bit in love at first sight.
Echo is starting to believe his batchmate just has a thing for blondes who look good shooting things.
The stranger asks for their names and can clearly see they are all clones but he doesn’t comment on it. Just nudges them back to their ship and suggests they leave all while smiling charmingly and genuinely asking about themselves.
They’re just packing up and preparing to report a mission failure when Fives gets the guts to ask the stranger for his name.
“I’m Anakin Skywalker. Have a safe trip home, fellas.”
Anakin Skywalker, leader of Free Tatooine and of the Freedom Coalition, Chainbreaker, Slaver Killer, probably the most dangerous man in the Galaxy, and the man they were sent to spy on. And he’s just letting them go?
Rex is very confused.
Fives is too busy staring at Skywalker’s ass as he leaves and the cute bewildered look on his captain’s face.
Echo comes to the conclusion Fives definitely has a thing for authoritive blondes who look good shooting things.
The second time they meet is on a battlefield.
The Freedom Coalition refuses to fight the clone army so they usually just take out the Admirals or Generals.
The clones are a little infuriated about this.
Some, however, take advantage and surrender. Slick of the 212th was one such clone who turned himself over to gain his freedom.
Anakin winds up facing Captain Rex in an attempt to kidnap Admiral Yularen.
Anakin really doesn’t want to hurt a fellow ‘slave’.
Rex just wants to take this guy in.
It ends with Anakin getting grazed by blaster fire and Rex with a small concussion.
Anakin finds himself very intrigued by the clone captain and by the ARC Trooper who brazenly cussed him out when he arrived with back-up.
“You know most people just talk to the ones they are crushing on. Not stalk them.”“Shut it Obi-Wan. We can’t all just flirt our way in and out of fights with Commander Cody.”
So it goes like that for a while. Anakin shows up, Fives and Rex face off against him. There’s banter involved. Anakin makes the mistake of saying something vaguely flirtatious to them once and then disappears for a month. Fives proceeds to use that line every time they see Anakin thereafter. Rex pulls them both back on track. Sometimes the clones win the fight, others Anakin wins.
Remember, Anakin, Rex and Fives all believe they are fighting for the right cause. Rex does try to make the case for pro-Republic but can’t answer when Anakin asks him if the Republic is as good as he thinks it is.
There is one time that an explosion goes off and Anakin almost sacrifices himself to hold back the blast. Neither Fives or Rex take the chance to take Anakin into custody. Instead, Anakin finds himself in a coalition medbay with a note asking him not to do anything so stupid ever again.
Eventually, the Separatists make a bid and declare open war. Grievous and Dooku are sent after Anakin and Obi-Wan in an attempt to throw the Freedom Coalition into disarray.
What they didn’t expect was the Delegation of 2000 had managed to cut a deal with the Coalition, present it to the Senate, got it passed and was able to create a treaty between the two states.
Clone Rights are still hotly debated but under the treaty, no clone can be decommissioned for any reason and any clone has the right to a fair trial. Small victories but necessary ones.
Grievous and Dooku’s forces are met with not only The Freedom Coalition’s fleet but also the 501st and 212th.
Anakin is very relieved to see both Rex and Fives come charging to his rescue.
He is also swooning a bit because it’s almost like a scene straight out of Love Under Adleraanian Skies.
Fives watches as Anakin decapitate three droids and Rex shoot off the head of a forth and decides Yes, these are the men I want to spend the rest of my life with.
Rex comes to a similar conclusion as Anakin gently force-heals a blaster burn on his bicep after the fight while Fives hovers worriedly behind him.
Dooku and Grievous die in the Final battle.
During clean up, several transmissions are found to Dooku from a Sith Lord. The transmissions are tracked back to Coruscant. To the Chancellor’s Office to be precise.
The Freedom Coalition has been trying to track down exactly who has been leaking intel, arranging numerous kidnapping attempts and secretly attacking their forces for a good couple of years.
Dooku’s intel also shows that while he arranged most of that, it was under orders.
So basically
(I hope you like this. I spent 10 minutes making it and 15 giggling over it.)
Anakin, Obi-Wan, a few Jedi Masters, three Senators and a squad of clones confront Palpatine over the evidence.
The result is several explosions, a dead senator, two dead Jedi, a dead Sith Lord and a Republic Senate thrown into chaos.
Sidious tries to activate Order 66 but fails since the Freedom Coalition does a full check up on any defecting clones and found the chip ages ago. They developed a virus that made them null with plans to remove them asap.
The Freedom Coalition graciously takes over providing aid to the war-torn worlds with a warning to the Senate they will only return to the Republic if certain conditions are met. The Senate agrees.
One of which are complete rights for all clones.
In this world, Anakin loses his arm to Sidious after pushing Fives out of the way of a strike. That allows Rex to shoot him in the head and then for Anakin to shove a lightsaber through his heart. Fives shoots him as well “just in case sir.”
When Anakin wakes up with his new arm, it’s not Fives but Rex who presses a relieved kiss to his lips. Fives does follow up almost as soon as Rex pulls away.
Anakin is a bit too dazed to think properly and as such promises not to do that again.
At least not without them.
They spend the rest of Anakin’s stay in medical actually talking about where they want this to go and their feelings.
Since Anakin isn’t emotionally repressed and is allowed to make attachments, it goes a lot better than it would have otherwise.
Rex gave into Fives’ not-quite-pestering after the Final Battle and both started plotting how to bring Anakin into it.
Either way, Echo and Plo Koon’s padawan, Ahsoka Tano, make a lot of money when the relationship is revealed.
Rex, Fives and Anakin all get married in a lovely ceremony on Tatooine with Shmi, Obi-Wan and the 501st in attendance.
Hondo shows up with a bottle of vintage wine as a gift and to take photos to flog on the black market.
Obi-Wan gets busted in Commander Cody’s bed with said Commander the next morning.
Hardcase discovers the joys of fireworks and makes several friends Rex rather wishes he hadn’t.
Fives discovers Anakin’s butt really is as firm as it looks and that Rex will go red if both he and Ani whisper naughty things into the captain’s ears.
AND THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
Bonus Round: Alternative Ideas Include -
Sith! Anakin, who prefers not to kill the clones out of some sense of kinship, is fighting against the Republic and comes across Captain Rex and ARC Trooper Fives. Instead of killing each other, each are intrigued by the other. It ends up with Sidious exposed and Darth Vader gaining two loyal bodyguards/lovers.
Fives is a superhero in a world that dislikes them, Anakin is a supervillain (though more Megamind, Less Joker) and Rex is a cop who wants arrest both.
Pride and Prejudice au with Anakin as Elizabeth, Rex as Darcy and Fives as a weird blend in the middle.

i wanted to add the full color version of these good clone kids!! some fun facts under the read more:
peak is stoic and essentially a mountain but can and will wreck people’s shit, especially if her general or her brothers are threatened or mocked
peak can, also, drink her entire squadron under the table and it’s rumored she can take out cody AND bly before even beginning to waver
oxbow will not shut up, every single thing out of his mouth is sarcastic and snarky, and he rarely cares about rank (peak and the general are the two who get that respect the most, along with captain rex bc oxbow really looks up to the 501st’s captain)
that being said ox is VERY charming when he wants to be and could probably talk his way out of most situations which is why he only sometimes gets punched for his loud mouth
ravine is THAT HOT PINK BITCH NAMED BREAKFAST in clone form, energetic and peppy like a small dog except the size of a large man; he’s really, genuinely precious and cares so very deeply about everyone he meets which is one of the reasons he makes such a good medic
rav cannot and will not remember to take good care of himself, and the only one he’ll listen to is the general (who he has a very large crush on but he really just wants good things for her)(and honestly, who doesn’t???)
astro is very cocky and a little dumb, but is also very insecure about his appearance! he let ravine convince him to get the star tattoos on his cheekbones bc rav wanted astro to take the star-shaped scars into his whole aesthetic. astro is still unsure about them but is thankful to ravine
astro is probably the least easy to agitate on the team. even though ravine is very soft and kind, rav still has a temper on him. astro on the other hand is almost always cool-headed and it takes a LOT a lot to get him angry enough to even verbally assault someone.
magma and tuya,,,, on the OTHER other hand,,, are the powder kegs of the group. magma is loud and likes to be heard, and he’s not afraid to step on toes even when he doesn’t realize he’s stepping on toes. he’s stubborn and likes to cause friendly mischief. out of the entire squad he’s the one who has to apologize for things the most.
the above is all true about magma but he’s almost the complete opposite on the battlefield. well, he’s still loud and likes to blow things up, but he will NOT jeopardize the mission by crossing any lines. he follows orders to a “t” and will only go beyond them if the situation clearly calls for it or he knows no one on his team is gonna get hurt.
tuya is the resident pretty boy of the group, or he fancies himself to be. (he feels most threatened in this category by oxbow and the two WILL get into bickering fights about it when they all go out to 79′s.) despite being kind of a jerk he’s really soft around the general, and whenever he realizes he’s actually hurt one of his brothers or someone else’s feelings he gets very apologetic about it- but, rarely shares it. tuya has a lot of problems to work out lmao
tuya ALSO beats himself up way too much. always. takes criticism HORRIBLY. very much wants to be taken care of but doesn’t want to be seen as weak or dependent on others. that’s why he’s the sniper- other than being able to shoot just about anything, in motion or not, from even 7-9 clicks away.
BONUS ROUND:
magma and tuya are often called “the trouble twins” by their squadron, their general, and pretty much anyone else. commander peak calls them “the terror twins” and is the only one to do so, but she means it mostly as a compliment- she’s very appreciative of the chaos they cause on the battlefield as far as the enemy goes.
if there were a big three of the squadron, it’d be peak, oxbow, and ravine. they’re the most respected out of the whole 1126th and have proven why time and time again. they’re also very content with the standing that geo squadron has the least amount of average clone deaths.
despite the restrictions and rules those big three also have a big fuckin crush on the general. peak just respects roya so, so much, and has grown very attached to the fiery, kind, pretty twi’lek she gets to follow into battle. oxbow will only shut up on the general’s command and is very flustered by her frequently. she’ll call him on his shit like no one else will and he’d be lying if he’d say it didn’t get to him. RAVINE, the sweet boy, again really just wants the best for the general. has carried her off of the battlefield to patch her up and assure her that YES, commander peak will take care of the enemy and YES she needs to be patched up immediately because she has a rebar-shrapnel hole in her side.
(the general is very soft for them as well.)(no she will not elaborate. yes she gets razzed on about it by specifically generals kenobi and skywalker.)
astro is kinda quiet and appreciates time with his siblings when he doesn’t have to speak. despite the fact that he likes to go to 79′s with the crew, he’s definitely been kinda bullied by some of the other clones for being so quiet and so sort-of estranged from the rest of them all.
note: any clone or anyone in general who says shit about any of the geo squadron members will have to deal with the rest of them bc none of them tolerate that shit. on top of that, jedi general roya ruusel will take any amount of scolding and reprimanding for being too connected to her troops- often because on top of the angry geo squad members one would have to fight, you’d have a pissed off fuckin /jedi/ to deal with. roya does NOT tolerate any shit on her crew.
WE GOT SOME GOOD KIDDOS HERE TONIGHT LADS
i’ll explain more under the read more, but here’s the first 6 clones of geo squadron and also commander peak and general roya ruusel talking about a problem roya’s gonna have to deal with in t-minus 5 seconds, shootin the shit like some good friends do
