When the portal opened before them, it was anything but a relief. A portal meant stepping into a new place, perhaps far from civilization and likely not far from monsters. The uncertainty weighed heavily on Link’s chest, amplifying his anxiety.
“Are we sure we want to do this?” Link heard the captain shout. “The Vet is seriously hurt; he needs immediate care if we don’t want to lose him.” Link turned to look at the young man, his heart aching at the sight of someone so strong now reduced to a figure of pain. He didn’t even growl when the rancher forced him onto his back. The fight had been brutal—really brutal. The horde of Lynels had been spotted too late for their collector to escape before taking a fatal blow to his torso. He needed stitches and potions, two things they didn’t have right now, and the thought of losing him was unbearable.
Their leader looked at the young man for a moment before speaking. “We can’t let the portal close behind us. We have no choice; we need to move. Can someone put him on Epona’s back? It’s not perfect, but it’s the best we have. Every hand capable of fighting is crucial; our friend life depended on it.”
After what happened with the shadow and the rancher, everyone had been so cautious. Link felt a familiar weight of guilt pressing down on him. How could something like that happen? Someone was dying again, and he had been too late… again. He thought as he stepped through the portal. As always, he felt the slight tug of magic pulling him into this new world. He closed his eyes and let it happen. When the tug stopped, a mix of hope and fear washed over him as he opened his eyes to find himself in the middle of a clearing. There were no signs of monsters. The rancher was already putting their injured friend on his own back instead of Epona’s, probably to ensure he wouldn’t fall.
“Anyone recognize this place?” Link didn’t really need to look around to know it wasn’t Skyloft, so he remained silent, scanning his companions for any sign of recognition, but found nothing. An uneasy tension hung in the air, each of them wrestling with their own fears. Suddenly, he heard a loud snap followed by a series of small chirps. His friends drew their blades and looked up at the sky, spotting a small white silhouette.
“What is that ugly thing?” he heard Sailor mutter.
“It doesn’t look dangerous, but be careful anyway,” the captain replied, though Link could sense his own apprehension.
They all watched as the little ball of fluff descended and began to circle around them, still chirping. Link’s heart raced; he readied his bow, instinctively preparing for a fight, yet the creature seemed harmless. Before he could do anything, the small bird disappeared with a snap.
“Well, that was weird.”
“Let’s not stay here. It could be some kind of beacon, and it’s not time for us to be spotted by monsters.” Their leader started walking, and they all followed silently, hearing only the sounds of nature and the growls of their injured friend. Link’s mind raced with thoughts of the Vet; he couldn’t shake the feeling that time was running out.
It took only a few minutes for the small bird to return, this time just inches away from the Vet's face when he appeard. The bird started chirping loudly in his ears. The rancher tried to step away, but they heard the Vet speak again.
“I’m awake, Sherrow! I’m awake! Stop shouting in my ears, you spawn of darkness!” He said even while trying to look mad he was practically incapable of talking loud enough for anyone to hear him. The bird responded with a series of chirps before flying in front of the group.
“Vet, do you know this thing?” the old man asked, still keeping his hand on his sword.
“Yes, follow him. He knows where to go,” the Vet said before passing out again. Link felt a cold knot in his stomach. They were losing him.
“Well, we don’t have anything else to do, and it clearly hasn’t tried to kill us yet,” the Champion said, putting his sword away. “Let’s follow him.”
And so they did. The walk seemed never-ending, between the bird’s loud chirps and their Vet still bleeding out. A heavy silence enveloped them, filled with unspoken fears and worries. None of them were enjoying their time here. That was until they saw, at the top of a hill right in front of them, a small cottage surrounded by flowers and apple trees. Hope flickered in Link’s chest as they approached. As soon as the house was visible, Sherrow flew to it and went inside, still chirping. A few seconds later, the door of the house swung open, and a purple figure began shouting at them.
“Mister Hero! Come in quick! Where is he? What happened? Stop looking at me like that; I need any information you can give me. The bedroom is over there; put him on the bed!”
The old man began to explain while the rancher went to put the Vet in the bedroom, but Link was too occupied trying to understand what this strange masked man could be. A mix of curiosity and concern churned within him. He snapped back to reality when their leader stopped speaking.
“I see. All of you stay here; I’m taking care of him. Don’t go inside the bedroom no matter what. I cannot put him to sleep; he won’t be able to wake up, which means he will be in pain. Even if he yells, don’t come and distract me. Make yourselves at home,” the purple man said as he disappeared inside the bedroom.
They heard talking before the rancher was promptly shooed out of the bedroom, and the door closed behind him. The silence that followed was oppressive, each of them lost in their own thoughts, their hearts heavy with worry. They were all left alone in what seemed to be the Vet’s house. Link opened his mouth to say something before being interrupted by a yell of pain coming from the bedroom. They all turned toward the door, listening to the strange man speaking softly to their friend.
“I’m sorry, Link. I’m really sorry. I’ll be quick, I promise. Please stay with me; I know you’re in pain, but please stay conscious. I need you to answer my questions; continue to talk to me, Mister Hero; it’s important…”
Link’s heart twisted at the sound of their friend’s pain. They listened to the man’s voice and their injured friend for what seemed like hours before the door finally opened. The man’s hood was nowhere to be found; he looked drained, exhausted, dark hair covered in sweat as he walked toward the kitchen. His sleeves were rolled up to his forearms, and his hands were covered in blood. He glanced at them, and in that moment, Link saw the fear and exhaustion mirrored in his own eyes.
“He will be okay; I’ve seen him in worse places.” He looked like he was about to say something else, but instead, he leaned against the kitchen wall until he found himself sitting on the floor. He buried his head in his bloody hands and began to sob.
“I’m sorry; please give me just a minute, and I’ll be with you shortly. I just need to calm down; I’m sorry.”
“Are you okay?” the sailor asked, fidgeting with his fingers. Concern etched across his face, a reflection of their shared worry.
“Yes, yes, I am! It’s always scary to see Mister Hero like this. I know the hard part is on his side, and I try to stay strong, but I’m not a hero of courage, so… I’m just going to sit here for a minute; please don’t mind me, heroes.”
“How about you let yourself rest a little?” Link suggested, his voice softening. “We can take care of him so you can sleep. Don’t worry; if he calls for you or if anything changes in his state, we’ll wake you up immediately.” His offer came from a deep desire to ease the burden on the men, to let him know he wasn’t alone in this fight. The small man looked at Link with his puffy green eyes before nodding and sitting down on the couch, the little bird settling in his dark curls.
“My name is Ravio, by the way. It’s a pleasure to finally meet Mister Hero new friends.” As soon as he finished talking, he fell asleep.
It took some time for them to settle on what to do next since none of them knew anything about the place. An air of uncertainty loomed over them, but they needed to act. They ended up preparing a quick meal and getting ready for the night. Sailor and the captain were assigned to keep an eye on the Vet, while the others cleaned their clothes and swords. The cottage was peaceful and calming, a stark contrast to the turmoil in their hearts. Even in their stressful situation, it felt like a momentary reprieve. Without really thinking about it, Link ended up falling asleep at Ravio’s side.
He was awakened a few hours later by a loud thud. He opened his eyes to see Sailor racing from the bedroom at full speed. “He’s awake! He wants to see the weird guy. Do I need to wake him up?” He didn’t even need to, as Ravio was already on his feet and walking toward the bedroom. Link’s curiosity mixed with apprehension as he followed, wanting to be there for his friend.
The bedroom could have been spacious if it weren’t for the mountains of objects crammed inside. Link now understood where their collector had put his belongings.
Ravio quietly approached the bed and sat in the chair that Sailor had been using. The Vet and him exchanged silent glances for what felt like a long time. Link could sense the weight of their unspoken connection filling the room. There was a tenderness in their eyes that spoke volumes—an understanding forged through time and shared pain.
“Are you okay? Does it hurt anywhere? Are you having trouble breathing? Are you hungry, thirsty, tired?” Ravio asked, his voice laced with genuine concern.
“Calm down, Rav. I’m fine; see? No problem,” the Vet replied, though Link could see the way his facade of strength was wavering, how pale and trembling he was. It was for all of them hard to accept help and the Vet was the worst of them all, yet with Ravio, there seemed to be a different dynamic. Ravio’s presence seems to allow the Vet to lower his defenses, if only slightly.
“My hands are still covered with your blood, Link. You are not okay; stop lying to my face,” Ravio insisted.
“Okay, okay, I’m not okay.” The Vet’s usual bravado faded, and Link could see the pain etched across his features. “I’m in pain, a lot of pain, and until two minutes ago, I was sure I was dead, but I’ll be okay, I promise.” When the Vet tried to sit up, Ravio rushed to help him, his touch firm yet gentle.
“Back off, big man! I’m not a child; I can sit without help!” the Vet protested, but Link sensed the underlying warmth in his tone.
“I know you can, Link, but please let me help. It’s the only thing I can do to make myself feel useful,” Ravio said, a note of earnestness in his voice. Watching their exchange, Link felt a swell of admiration for Ravio’s way using his own need to make the hero accept help. This men was more than impressive. Was Zelda the same with him when he was injured ?
Ravio helped him sit up, arranging pillows behind him and ensuring he was comfortable before handing him a glass of water. There was a quiet intimacy in the way Ravio attended to the Vet, and Link couldn't help but appreciate these small gestures.
“Thank you, Rav. I don’t know what I would do without you,” the Vet said, attempting a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.
“Probably exactly what you’re doing now love.” He pushed the veteran’s blond hair out of his face with the back on his still bloody hand. “You don’t need me, Mister Hero, and that’s the worst part,” Ravio replied, the hint of sadness in his voice striking Link. It was clear that Ravio yearned to be more than just a support. Just like himself he didn’t want to arrive too late
“Well, I need to clean my hands now. Try to drink your water, please.” Ravio leaned in, resting his forehead against Link’s and kissing his cheek—a gesture that caught Link off guard. It was both tender and protective, a moment of tenderness far away from what the Vet was known for.
As Ravio stepped back toward the main room, Link observed the Vet’s expression soften, a mix of gratitude and affection flooding his features. Turning slightly toward the others, the Vet’s tone shifted to one of authority.
“I don’t want to hear a thing from you all; am I being clear?”
In that moment, Link felt a sense of admiration for both of them. The Vet carried the weight of being a hero, but Ravio was the one who would stand by him through the chaos. Link promised himself to thank Zelda and Groose more next time that he will see them.

You don’t need to be on the front line to be a hero. Ravio is Legend hero.
For the all time i was writing a was like AND WHAT IF HE DID DIE??? And now i want to write things about grief. I have an idea with Warrior something like what if in the war of era Tune or Mask died ? How would Warrior react to seen them again? What if time died and the chain had to tell Malon? What if Wind died and Grandma had to tell Aryll that his brother wasn’t coming back ? What if Marin knew that she would die but decided to say nothing so Legend could go home ?
More generally I want to talk about the one that stay home while the Links are away putting themself in danger because i enjoy being miserable. I also have some old fluff things that i want to rework and post here.
Someone could have told me that it was so fun to show the things that i write i would have done it earlier
ANYWAY as always English is not my first language tell me is a made error and also just tell me what you think i had a few comment on my last post and is was SO fun to read
Lastly if you have ideas of things that i could write tell me maybe it will give le ideas.

The results are in. I have finished the tally counting of how many times each member of the Chain interacts with each other; something literally no one asked for. The hand written results are above while the typed version will be below, along with my explanation of how I did it and the rules I made and followed.
The rules I made and used: Every time the boys interact I made a tally. That included non verbal interactions and them being near/fighting beside each other. Tallies we’re added for each update. So if a scene carried over to the next update, there would be a new tally even if say Legend and Wars were still in the same situation. In earlier posts I used the same logic, but since there were often multiple small scenes going on each new scene also had new tallies. So if Legend and Wars interacted in one scene that’s be a tally but the same update they interact again but it’s a different situation, then that’s be another tally. I also put a place for Wolfie since not everyone knows for most of the time. If you’d rather combine Wolfie and Twi, then just add Wolfie to Twi’s numbers. There is a column for Malon and Ravio. There was originally gonna be a column for both Fi and Dink, but I scrapped that after having to restart. Maybe I’ll post that later. I really hope that made sense. Explaining my thought process is hard. Now the results.

What have a learned from this? Nothing. Not really. I guess Legend and Wild have the most screen time interacting with others. Ummmm…I noticed Sky, Hyrule, and Legend often group up as a group of three and they’re adorable together. Yeah, that’s all I got. Hope you like it.
While making this I discovered that a scientist cloned me and made another blog out of my dna. That was fun. Shout out to @healing-hero. I know nothing about you yet I feel a bond between us. The whole cloning thing is a joke by the way. I don’t think my typing conveys my tone properly.
