HAIKYUU!! FICS
so this is mostly gonna be for myself to keep track of my favorite fics i’ve read, but hey if anyone else wants to check some of these out then thats great
MHA one is up!!
ill keep updating this as i read more, feel free to send me suggestions!
KageHina
plain as day - emleewrites
In which Hinata has spent the better part of the last twenty years putting his heart and soul into volleyball, hoping to be recognised, to be noticed. And yet he spends all these years also thinking of himself as rather plain, beyond his lack of height and bright hair, and not really noticeable at all.
In Transit - Mysecretfanmoments
Hinata finds that he likes standing close to Kageyama on buses and trains. It doesn't mean anything--probably. Maybe.
I like the way your clothes smell - Mysecretfanmoments
Power outages, ghost stories, and the presence of a certain orange-haired boy lead to bad decision-making on Tobio's part. He'd planned to keep his crush a secret; the universe has other plans.
Chaotic Neutral - akaraka
Who's this Kageyama person on twitter and is he gay?
1: Anonymous: see title
2: Anonymous: curry king
3: Anonymous >> 1: It's the curry king, obviously. Have you been using his memes this whole time without knowing who he was?
4: Anonymous: 1) Hinata Shouyou's boyfriend 2) See above
jellyfish - mysterytwin
At the beginning of his last year at Karasuno High School, Hinata Shouyou starts a list and calls it THINGS TO DO BEFORE GRADUATION, all with high hopes that he’ll be able to complete it before his time runs out.
TsukkiYama
Try This On For Size - CloudMonsta
A lot changed for Yamaguchi Tadashi over the course of high school. He started trying on dresses, for one.
The Great Yamaguchi-Tsukishima Split (Capitalization Necessary) - WyYeuw
"But no, the current situation isn’t normal. This situation requires the full attention of the team.
No, what’s really concerning this time around, is that Yamaguchi is the one ignoring Tsukishima.”
Yamaguchi confesses. Tsukishima fucks up—like, really fucks up. The volleyball club notices and loses a week’s worth of practice.
IwaOi
Terrarium - sausaged
He's practically a professional at being proactive (lies, lies, and lies when it comes to Iwaizumi).
At this point, is he really happy with just staying best friends forever? Will he be writing journals and collecting rocks forever (he will, he knows, but that is aside from the point)?
Can he really tag his Instagram photos with #YOLO if he doesn't actually put that phrase into practice?
A story about Oikawa Tooru, Iwaizumi Hajime, plants, and rocks.
They Say it Rain Diamonds on Jupiter - exsao
"You're in love with him."
Hajime considers denying it. He considers deliberately choking on his drink to express surprise, to create a distraction by spitting onto the man in front of him's pristine white shirt and causing a commotion. Instead, he swallows his mouthful of soda and heaves a small sigh once his mouth is free.
"Yeah," he says instead.
He's never been good at lying, anyway.
bait and switch - Stylographic_Blue_Rhapsody
Oikawa's university volleyball team knows he's in a long-distance relationship with someone from high school. They imagine a sweet-faced girl that matches his sarcasm with patience. They are so incredibly wrong.
my heart is where it’s always been - foreverautumn
Iwaizumi places his phone down carefully.
Oikawa. Pining after someone. There’s no way.
(Iwaizumi knows he shouldn’t care who Oikawa might have feelings for, but within the span of three days, it’s somehow the only thing he can think about.)
KuroKen
Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life - todxrxki
Kuroo Tetsurou runs a private Twitter account where he's constantly tweeting about how desperately in love he is with Kozume Kenma. Little does he know that Kenma sees all the tweets and keeps referencing the account in an attempt to get Kuroo to confess to him. / Or, five times Kuroo didn't notice Kenma hinting about his private Twitter account, and one time he finally did.
the things that get caught in the valves of his heart - ghostpot
Emotional competency is not exactly Kuroo's strong suit. Kenma finds it quite amusing.
Accidentally In Love - todxrxki
Kuroo frowns, but then slowly, the corners of his mouth lift up into a smirk. "Well, if it's so unbelievable, why don't we give it a try?"
Kenma glances up at him curiously. "What do you mean?"
"Let's do the 36 questions to fall in love," Kuroo says, still smirking stupidly. "If we don't fall in love, then you're right, it's bullshit. But if we do somehow..." Kuroo waggles his eyebrows. "Then I win." / Kuroo decides he and Kenma should do the 36 questions to fall in love as a joke, but they both start to realize they might actually be in love already.
the galaxy is endless (i thought we were, too) - cosmogony
TW: major character death
Kuroken AU where the last words your soulmate will say to you appear on your skin when you turn 16, and how Kenma and Kuroo learn what this means over the course of their lives
even if you’re ahead for a bit, i will catch up - ghostpot
Kuroo first confesses when they're sticky-fingered, wide-eyed kids, and subsequently every day after that. Kenma takes a while to come around.
you’re the brake lines failing (as my car swerves off the freeway) - ghostpot
Kenma thinks that Kuroo looks ugly with his head bent against the arm of the couch like that. Then Kenma thinks that he wants to marry him, and is promptly thrown into the 5 stages of grief.
teach me the way home - icespyders
“Don’t go far off, not even for a day, because —
because — I don’t know how to say it: a day is long
and I will be waiting for you, as in an empty station
when the trains are parked off somewhere else, asleep.”
Kuroo and Kenma grow up in transit.
in this universe - crossbelladonna
Living with Kuroo is sometimes, just like this. It always feels surreal like he's living half a world and a lot of things rush by too quickly. Kenma feels like he'd watched him come and go in a blink, eyes wide and wordless as the shared space went snug in an instant and far larger in the next.
All this, and a glass of water.
Beginning’s End - todxrxki
Somehow over the course of Kenma's lifetime, he’s never really had an opportunity to miss Kuroo. He’s always been there. Even when they went to different schools, Kuroo would meet him afterwards so they could walk home together, shoulders brushing, Kuroo occasionally taking the opportunity to guide him when his nose was buried in the newest video game. The thought of Kuroo not being there anymore is uncomfortable, to say the least. / Kozume Kenma's third year and the changes the year brings in himself and his relationship with Kuroo Tetsurou.
All I Want for Christmas is You - todxrxki
“Kuro,” he says. “You’re a single guy.”
“Yeah, great, thanks for pointing that out.”
“And my parents already know you, plus they already know you like guys or whatever so… what if you pretended to be my date for Christmas dinner?” / In which Kenma recruits his housemate and best friend Kuroo to be his fake date for Christmas.
BokuAka
just to miss the sun - rosevtea
Everything begins to implode when MSBY Jackals outside hitter Bokuto Koutarou crashes Akaashi's livestream.
Operation BokuAka - kazzydolyn
After spending two whole years watching Bokuto and Akaashi pine for one another, the rest of the Fukuroudani Volleyball Club has had enough. When everyone meets up for a reunion dinner, the team decides to play matchmaker and finally get the two of them together. Unfortunately, their plan starts to fall apart when they discover that Akaashi is already dating someone. And apparently so is Bokuto. What a strange coincidence.
bitter - silvercistern
He accepted his classmate's chocolates gracefully, then declared his lack of interest with as much dignity as he could muster. She deserved the courtesy. At least she'd acknowledged that Valentine's Day was all about her, and not about him in the slightest.
Because if any of these girls had taken the time to actually get to know him, they’d quickly realize something even more important than his lack of interest in girls.
And that was that Akaashi hated sweets.
In Another Life - LittleLuxray
TW: major character death
Sleeping didn't come as easy as it used to. Bokuto knew this, and now Akaashi did, too.
The hospital AU that no body asked for, but that I took upon myself to write.
120% yes - pissedofsandwich

Kissing Ace - karasunovolleygays
It happens right after training camp.
Akaashi Keiji has a secret he has guarded since he was a child. He won’t go so far as to call it a fear, but more of an aspect of himself of which he is horribly mortified. No one on the team knows about it, and Akaashi does his best to keep it that way.
But years of dodging hugs and casual contact come to naught in the blink of an eye and the swipe of a hand.
daisy rings and frivolous things (i am deliriously in love with you) - gabstar
Akaashi Keiji is in love. Bokuto Koutarou is a star. Everyone on Fukurodani has a gambling problem.
SakuAtsu
The MSBY Black Jackals Read Thirst Tweets - isaksara (syailendra)
Sakusa’s eyes are very dark naturally, sucking in all surrounding rays of light and crushing them in his pupils. For an athlete, he is rather pale. His lips look very pink in comparison. Atsumu is suddenly catastrophically aware that in this instance, ‘accent’ is a euphemism. “Good enough for your Olympic-size ego, Miya?”
(In which Atsumu realizes that he is attracted to Sakusa Kiyoomi in the most inconvenient way possible.)
A Liar’s Truth - internetpistol
In which Sakusa Kiyoomi is raised to believe that gay people go to hell but then takes one look at Miya Atsumu and thinks, then why the hell did God make them so fucking hot?

Haikyuu!! Fic Recs
I love reading fanfics, and I have so many bookmarked that I want to share. Hope you all enjoy and give these writers all the love. All of these are completed works, and they are a mixture of one shots and multi chaps.
Kagehina
where the night goes by bigspoonnoya (M)
Summary:
When their bond loses the immediate context of volleyball, they're left to consider why it's still so vital and important.
Meeting again, by chance, six years later.
Somewhere to Belong by Esselle (E)
Summary:
Once a year, all the villages that follow the way of the sun offer up one of their own to be taken to the sun god's divine temple. Kageyama Tobio, an orphan and loner, never wanted to be chosen—and until the sun god appeared, no one ever wanted to choose him, either. All Tobio wants is to find a place he fits in. What he actually gets is another story entirely.
by this time next year by reeology (T)
Summary:
"I got offers from two universities," Kageyama announces, pointing at his chest with his thumb. "I'm going to play volleyball at Keio this spring."
"You still have to pass an exam, even if it's an easy one," Takeda-sensei hurries to add, although he is beaming and bursting with pride at his fluffy little crow chick taking off to play volleyball at a university level.
"I'll pass," Kageyama says with the same kind of confidence he uses when he tells Hinata he'll get the toss to him. He looks straight at Hinata, and Hinata jerks and turns red, wondering if maybe Kageyama knew he was daydreaming about something as stupid as the way Kageyama talks to him during a game. But then Kageyama just points at him and says, "You'd better get in, too."
Hinata, stupid, naive, idiot that he is, grins wide and nods and says, "Yeah!"
He doesn't know what he's in for.
Not Alone by seconddaysea (E)
Summary:
"I'll visit you," Hinata says. "So you're not allowed to get lonely, you got it?" He turns so they're facing each other, hands warm against Tobio's back. "I'm already lonely," he replies quietly, and he presses his face against Hinata's heart, squeezing his eyes shut, because if this is a dream he doesn't want to wake up.
maps, from me to you by tothemoon (T)
Summary:
This is a (non-chronological) account of the memories they make out of millimeters.
Iwaoi
we can do better than that by spaceburgers (M)
Summary:
Oikawa and Iwaizumi go on a road trip during the summer after their high school graduation. It doesn't go as expected, but maybe that's not such a bad thing after all.
we shine like diamonds by whiitemists (T)
Summary:
Oikawa is nine when he first hears the word. The boys on the playground whisper it like it's dirty, like the way they daringly mutter the word fuck and then look over their shoulders to check their parents hadn't heard.
"You know Abe-kun from class?" they snicker, hands cupped around their mouths like they're passing along a filthy secret. "I hear his older brother is... gay."
here comes your man by newamsterdam (T)
Summary:
Iwaizumi’s left his cell phone on the bench, and while Suga keeps his gaze away from Iwaizumi the phone lights up with a new message.
Iwa-chan, it reads, Have a good day today! Good luck! <3 <3 <3
Suga chokes. It’s hard to imagine anyone calling the scowling and fierce Doctor Iwaizumi “Iwa-chan.” But marriage probably comes with all sorts of liberties.
Mrs. Iwaizumi must be quite the doting wife, Suga thinks. Delivering hand-made bentos and sending along loving messages.
No one really knows much about the new surgical resident, Doctor Iwaizumi, other than the fact that he's married. Suga's determined to find out more, and make a friend of him in the process.
just hear me out by loveclouds (T)
Summary:
To stimulate Japan's low birthrates and take most of the guesswork out of dating, a beeper system was biologically developed in people's wrists, an audible confirmation to show romantic compatibility.
Iwaizumi's beeper has been going off for Oikawa since they've been kids. Oikawa's has only ever been silent.
 Call Security! by DeathBelle  (T)
Summary:
Oikawa Tooru is attractive, charming, and irresistible.
He thinks so, anyway, until he meets the mall's new security guard.
In which Oikawa has a crush, Iwaizumi has no interest, and a chain of shoplifting incidents brings them together.
Bokuaka
(Don't) Touch Me by DeathBelle (E)
Summary:
Akaashi has always had an aversion to human contact, but earlier in his life it had been bearable. It isn't until his last year of high school that it becomes intolerable. By the time he enters college, any skin contact has the potential to send him spiraling into a breathtaking panic attack.
He reconnects with Bokuto in college, and he seems to be the only person with the ability to calm Akaashi down. He finds himself relying on his old captain more and more, especially when Bokuto deems himself Akaashi's own personal guardian. Despite their connection, he can't touch Bokuto, either; no matter how badly he'd like to.
Upstairs by yoogiboobi (E)
Summary:
Bokuto first sees his neighbour at the supermarket, three days after he's moved into his new place.
[...]
For about a second, a heartbeat, he's met with a pair of dark, piercing eyes, with what is probably eyeliner, looking back at him. It really is just a split second before his hand knocks down three cereal boxes that hit him square in the head, effectively making him break eye contact and drop his groceries to the floor.
In which some of the first things Bokuto learns about his upstairs neighbour are the colour of his eyes and the sound of his moans.
bang! now we're even by Authoress (E)
Summary:
Akaashi only has two rules when it comes to his profession. One, complete the job as swiftly and cleanly as possible. Two, never trust anyone who smells like blood.
Rule three is to shoot Owl Eyes in the face should he ever come across him, but Akaashi never tells anyone about that one.
Crisis Converted  by valiantarmor (E)
Summary:
Akaashi Keiji is just a normal cop with a penchant for getting himself into trouble, when quite suddenly he finds himself with a big promotion and a brand new partner.
But his habit of finding trouble hasn't gone away -- if anything, it's only gotten worse.
cracks in the pavement will lead you home by deusreks (M)
Summary:
Bokuto often thinks about Akaashi, especially when he’s running. It’s like his legs know where they’re supposed to take him. He grows into a habit of running a lot, just to keep that feeling going. Cracks and holes in the pavement aren’t fun to jump over if the final reward isn’t seeing Akaashi’s face.
An alternate universe with a little bit of magic and a lot of growing up.
Ushiten
died in my dreams by MTrash (Makaria) (T)
Summary:
If anyone asked Ushijima how it came to this, he wouldn’t be able to formulate a proper answer.
Ushijima likes his quiet, his order, and his solitude. That is, until a loud, talkative and a little chaotic cyber tech convinces him that that's just plain boring.
while i nodded, nearly napping (suddenly there came a tapping) by pseudoanalytics (T)
Summary:
Of course if there was one thing that could be counted on, it was Ushijima’s blunt, total honesty. “Do you think Tendou is attracted to me?”
Reon froze. “T-Tendou?”
“Yes.”
Tendou was notoriously hard to read, but Reon kind of figured that he wasn’t the type to be anything less than painfully overt with romantic affections.
“I... I don’t think you have anything to worry about. I think if Tendou was attracted to you, he would let you know,” Reon said. “I'd guess he just considers you his best friend.” He hoped his answer would satisfy whatever frenzy the guy had worked himself into so Reon could finally take advantage of his last precious hours of sleep.
But instead, Ushijima visibly deflated in front of him. “Yes. That’s what I thought too,” he said miserably.
Oh, Reon realized. Oh no...
Executive Excursion by DeathBelle (E)
Summary:
Tendou is fun, quirky, and interesting.
Ushijima is none of the above.
It's no surprise that Ushijima is drawn to Tendou's magnetic personality. What's surprising is that Tendou seems to like Ushijima, too.
With a little support from his coworkers, Ushijima decides to take a chance and ask Tendou on a date. The results are better than expected.
fascinating facts about geckos by miracleboysatori (T)
Summary:
Ushijima Wakatoshi.
That’s the coach’s name. And he’s the new biology teacher on campus, so not only is he incredibly beautiful, he's also smart as hell.
Tendou can tell he’s completely doomed.
Affection, and other Quantifiable Actions by badbavarois (T)
Summary:
(He's a monster) Ushijima Wakatoshi isn't a monster.
Misc/ Other ships
but not for spring to well up by tookumade (T)  OsaSuna
Summary:
After ending a relationship with a fiancé, Suna returns home and tries to heal from heartbreak. Here, he finds friends in the form of the Miya brothers, and learns patience, forgiveness, and what happiness means to him.
the more things change by deadseasalt (E)  OiKage
Summary:
“So let me get this straight. You went to the Meiji-Chuo game and saw your old crush and after watching Meiji bring Chuo to a crushing defeat, you realized you were still crushing on him big time?”
Kageyama wishes he could spit in Tsukishima’s drink. “It’s not a crush.”
Tsukishima laughs. “You poor dumb fuck.”
Third Impression by DeathBelle (E) Kuroo x Semi
Summary:
If Semi has a type, Kuroo isn't it.
After their first meeting, Semi concludes that Kuroo is smug, presumptuous, and a little too flirtatious for his own good. Their second encounter doesn't change his mind, and Semi does his best to avoid a third.
Kuroo has other ideas, and Semi finds himself tricked into an impromptu tutoring session with Kuroo himself.
It doesn't go as badly as Semi expects.
Mannequin Men by surveycorpsjean  (E) BokuAkaKuroTsukki
Summary:
The modeling world is full of hungry wolves, constantly clambering over the other, snarling and desperate. They fight, and they kill, trampling over anything in their path.
In this case, Akaashi fell in love with the wolves.
Efflorescence by h_lovely (E) MatsuHana
Summary:
"Are we flirting?"   "Do you want to be?"
[Efflorescence (n.) a state of blooming, flowering, and development.]

The Snakes’ Deception
Fandom: Haikyuu!! (@aikk00's Racing AU)
Characters (in order of appearance): Kozume Kenma, Kuroo Tetsurou, Yaku Morisuke, Sakishima Isumi, Daishou Suguru, Fukunaga Shouhei, Yamamoto Taketora, Haiba Lev, other Nekoma members (not mentioned by name)
Warnings: Physical Violence, Language
Word Count: 2.2k
Summary: When the Snakes, led by Daishou Suguru, come to challenge Kuroo for the title of Drift King, the Nekoma Crew isn’t going to take that lying down. But when the Snakes start to play nasty, the stakes are raised even further, and Kuroo has to fight to stay calm and prove that he’s the undisputed champion.
[A/N: RIP my dozen other drafts for other stories. I actually was planning to write this a few days before the Daishou art (also by aikk00), except I knew practically nothing about drift racing so I needed to do research, lul. I watched Tokyo Drift, some Initial D, some Grand Tour, and did a lot of reading online on drift racing and drifting in general, but tbh, I still don’t quite understand the mechanics (I don’t drive stick and I can’t go out and learn how to drift), so I apologize if this is horribly inaccurate. :P]
"The road condition looks good today, but it's still a little wet from earlier. Watch yourself going into the turns so you don't end up spinning out. The Snakes will probably do something though, especially since they asked you to race with Sakishima before Daishou. It should be okay when you're in the lead, but be ready to take defensive measures when you're chasing. My guess is that they'll try to take advantage of your skill at closing the gap and your power-over drift to orchestrate some sort of accident," Kenma commented quietly without looking up from his laptop, his fingers tapping away as he inputted a continuous stream of data. He seemed oblivious to the roar of the crowd outside the car, and Kuroo reached over to tousle his black-and-gold hair affectionately.
"Got it, Kenma. Anything else?"
"I know you won't listen, but you should just go all-out from the start. Not your usual way of racing. But if you do end up chasing, just do a normal drift and keep space between you and Sakishima. If they are aiming for an accident, it's more likely to happen when you're on the outside, so it'll slam into your side and Sakishima will be safe. But your numbers look good. I'm just going to tell Yaku-san to put a little more air into your rear tires," Kenma replied, closing the lid on his laptop and pushing open the passenger-side door, letting the sound of cheering and taunts into the vehicle. After he'd left and closed the door, Kuroo rolled down his window to light a cigarette, letting the smoke drift out into the night sky. Kenma hadn't said anything that he hadn't expected--especially with regard to the Snakes--but it was always reassuring to get their analyst's perspective before a race. Kenma wasn't the type to get fired up like the rest of the crew, but that cool-headed analysis was part of the reason they were able to climb so high in the rankings despite not always having the best cars or the best drivers. The ridiculous title of "Drift King" that he'd somehow ended up with was the result of Kenma's work as much as his own.
Still, Kenma was right. Even if it meant getting into an accident, Kuroo didn't intend to change the way he drifted. Part of the thrill of these races was the pure adrenaline high from going fast, especially when there was the risk of injury or even death. It was the reason why he'd mastered the power-over drift so that he could keep accelerating through the turn, and swung close enough to his opponents during his chases to make them panic. Even against the Snakes and their underhanded dealings, he'd show them that his way of fighting was still better, no matter what they threw at him.
He looked up when a shadow fell over him as Yaku leaned over his open window, the electric pump in his hand.
"You're good to go, Kuroo. Go ahead and show off," Yaku shouted over the din. Kuroo nodded, flicking his cigarette out the window and rolling up the glass. Yaku stepped back as he revved the engine, pulling up to the starting line where Sakishima was already waiting. Unlike most racers, Kuroo preferred chasing from the start to throw his opponent off his game. Before he'd inherited the title of Drift King, he'd been known as the Comeback Kid for his knack for overcoming what was traditionally seen as an unfavorable position. But the psychological benefit of overtaking the opponent and the pressure it put on the other racer, in addition to his skill with his clean lines and sharp angles that allowed him to do so consistently, had eventually shot him to the top of the Tokyo drifting world.
At the signal, Sakishima peeled past the starting line, and Kuroo quickly shot after him, staying close to his tail as they sped down the course. Even though his heart was racing, his head was completely clear, every sense focused on the view just beyond his windshield. Both he and Kenma were confident that Sakishima wouldn't try anything until the turn, but that was no reason to relax, especially at the speeds that they were going. Still, nothing happened when they reached the first clipping point, and Kuroo's eyes narrowed as he quickly estimated the distances and speeds between their cars, making his calculations swiftly and throwing himself into a drift just a heartbeat after Sakishima.
And it was perfect. His hand rested casually on the wheel as his tires squealed, sending up plumes of smoke as the tail of his car whipped around the curve, flying nearly parallel to Sakishima. The Snake seemed rattled as he spun into the next turn, turning slightly wide as Kuroo effortlessly stuck to him, their cars nearly touching as Kuroo grinned. It was pretty clear already which of them was the better drifter, not that it had ever been a question.
He let the car carry itself into the third point with just a few adjustments on his side, almost laughing as Sakishima had to drag on his own wheel to make the turn. The perfect chance presented itself almost immediately, and he aimed for the gap in Sakishima's barely controlled swing. But then, suddenly, the other car was spinning out as the Snake overcompensated, an out-of-control, two-ton wrecking ball flying toward him.
Kuroo jerked his wheel, pulling himself out of the drift and spinning out himself, the two cars making donuts on the road until he couldn't tell left from right. But the ominous crunch of metal never came, and when his car finally screeched to a stop, Kuroo slapped himself out of the harness and kicked his door open, stepping out onto the asphalt and casting his glare out at the spectators, looking for one specific slit-eyed face in particular.
"Daishou!" he bellowed, stomping toward the crowd and seizing the Snake by the collar, dragging him over the barrier. "What the fuck was that?"
But the other man just stared at him, all wide-eyed innocence. "'What the fuck' was what, Kuroo-san? Isumi made a mistake. Everyone saw that. He's not used to wet roads, but that's why I asked you to run with him so he could get some practice, because you're the only one good enough to not get hurt if he really fucks up. Like he did."
"Don't give me that bullshit!" Kuroo spun and slammed Daishou onto the ground, making the Snake wince as his back made contact with the asphalt. "That trick had your slime smeared all over it. You wanted to use Sakishima to take me out so you'd win the next run by default. If I hadn't been expecting something like that from you, I'd probably be in an ambulance on my way to the hospital right now."
Sakishima had caught up to them and was now clinging to Kuroo's arm, trying to pull him off while babbling insincere apologies. Kuroo shrugged him off impatiently as Daishou's hands landed on his wrist, trying to make him let go, but Kuroo shook him like a terrier with a rat, the adrenaline and testosterone giving him an incredible high.
"Really, Kuroo-san. Ask anyone. They would all say that it's a normal accident," Daishou protested. "You know these kinds of things happen all the time. But you're okay, Isumi's okay. No harm, no foul, right?"
The crowd was murmuring in the background, but Kuroo couldn't hear what they were saying through the blood pounding in his ears. He was just drawing his fist back to punch that smarmy smile off the Snake's face when a deluge of water crashed over both of them. Sputtering, he looked up to see Shouhei holding an empty bucket, Kenma standing beside him.
"Cooled off, Kuro?" Kenma asked in his deadpan voice as he approached them. "Or should I ask Fukunaga to get another bucket?"
Kuroo grimaced, shaking the water out of his eyes and hair as he leaned back slightly, still not letting Daishou go. Kenma crouched beside him, speaking softly, so that the crowd couldn't hear.
"You know that the Snakes are just like this. To everyone else, this does look like a normal accident. If you go any further, you're the one that's going to get a bad reputation. Right now, we can still pass it off as the heat of the moment. Let him go, Kuro."
"Yeah, listen to your girlfriend, Kuro," Daishou taunted. Kuroo's expression shut down, and he drew back his arm again. But this time, Kenma clung to it, still hissing in his ear.
"Stop it, Kuro. You know that everyone says that. They've been saying it for years. It doesn't mean anything. Stop letting him get to you!"
Kuroo grimaced again, but he listened to Kenma, letting his friend quietly talk him down until he was calm enough to shove Daishou away and get up. Accepting a towel from Shouhei, he tousled his hair dry while glaring at Daishou, who got back to his feet with as much dignity as he could muster.
"Sakishima-san forfeited the run," Kenma continued, still talking in his flat, measured tone. "So you'll be up against Daishou later. Are you up to it?"
"Fuck yeah, I'm ready to beat his ass," Kuroo snarled, and Kenma nodded at Shouhei, who ran across the asphalt to retrieve Kuroo's car. They'd probably replace the rear wheels to be safe, and then Kenma would have to run his checks again, but when they were done, his car would be better than new and more than ready to run the cheating bastard into the ground.
He reached into his pocket to pull out his pack of cigarettes, bending over to accept Kenma's offer of a light, and took a deep drag to steady his nerves. Being emotional during a race was the fastest way to get a ride to the morgue, so he needed to re-center himself. By then, the rest of his team had caught up to him, and Tora's particularly heated spiel about Daishou and his team helped bleed away most of the anger as they walked back to the starting line. Kenma had slipped away at some point, and Yaku was nowhere to be seen, so they were probably working on the car while he settled down. Really, he didn't deserve his friends.
By the time they arrived back at the beginning, the cool night air had washed away the rest of his irritation, which was probably Kenma's intention in making him walk back with the others. Shouhei and Yaku had just finished installing new tires, and Kenma was hunched over his laptop again on the curb, only looking up briefly when Kuroo sat down next to him.
"Thanks."
Kenma shrugged, his face bleached by the light from his screen. "I'm just doing my job."
"I mean earlier."
Kenma shrugged again, and a comfortable silence settled between them, broken only by the clicking of the keyboard. The rest of the team was huddled around the car, making checks and occasionally bringing Kenma more numbers, gradually shifting to sit around their captain and his brain, filling the silence with their chatter as other drifters made their runs.
"Hey, wait! You're playing a game, Kenma!" Lev protested, peering over Kenma's shoulder. "What about the race?"
"Kuroo will be fine," Kenma replied calmly as Kuroo looked over at his screen too, which seemed to be displaying the view through a sniper's scope. "His car's fine, and Daishou wants to beat Kuroo. If he tries the same thing, it'll be suspicious, and even if he did, if Kuroo doesn't spin out again, then Daishou will lose. And Kuroo is better than him, so if he does try anything else, it'd be more likely that he'd mess up and Kuroo would still win. His best chance at this point is a fair fight, and that means Kuroo could drive laps around him all day."
Kuroo grinned, standing up and stretching. "Well then, I guess that's my cue to get ready. I'll see you all at the finish line."
He walked over to his car, standing by the driver's door and just running a hand over the shining, red exterior for a moment. Then, taking a deep breath, he got inside, strapping himself down. The familiar feeling of exhilaration that he got just before a run made him smile as he pulled into place behind the next pair of cars, watching out of the corner of his eye as Daishou pulled up next to him.
And then, soon enough, they were flying down the road, Kuroo chasing again, keeping the pressure on his opponent. As Kenma had said, there was no way for Daishou to beat him, and he proved that as he took the lead at the very first bend, hitting the edge perfectly while gunning his engine through the whole course, making the best run that he'd probably ever done and leaving Daishou in his dust. If it was possible, he was even sharper on the turns than he had been against Sakishima, pushing himself and his car to the utmost limit. And there was no better feeling than watching the Snake come up to him to shake his hand after his loss, smiling like it hurt his teeth.
"As expected of the Drift King. But it won't last forever. Someday, someone will knock you off that throne."
And Kuroo had smiled back, the smirk that he knew infuriated Daishou more than anything else.
"Come at me whenever you want. I'll beat you down every time."
[A/N2: This isn't KuroKen. They're just really good childhood friends, so Kenma knows how to calm Kuroo down because they've been part of each other's lives for so long, and Kenma in particular is good at paying attention to people. Kuroo gets pissed at Daishou for calling Kenma his "girlfriend" not because of the implication that he's "whipped" (because Kuroo is perfectly secure in his masculinity), but rather because I have a headcanon that Kenma got teased a lot for being "girly" (weak, thin, kinda androgenous, etc.) growing up, so Kuroo still gets upset when that's used to insult his best friend (even though Kenma honestly doesn't give a fuck). But they're not in a romantic relationship; they just spend a lot of time together.
Of course, if you wanna interpret it as KuroKen, that's your prerogative, but that wasn't my intention in writing this.]

Kozume Kenma is a (naturally) quiet child. Ikeda Sora notices this the first they meet, when their mothers drag them to the park for a playdate after hitting if off the day before at the supermarket. (Their mothers, of course, Kenma hid behind his mother's legs the entire time.) Sora disregards this (of course) and grins at him, beaming as bright as the sun. Kenma squints at her, as if it hurts to look directly into her visage. "Hey! My name's Sora, but everyone calls me So-chan!" she introduces.
Kenma looks away. Why is this girl so loud and enthusiastic? Even Kuroo wasn't that bad when they first met... "I'm Kenma..." he mutters. Sora's smile becomes wider, if that's possible. "Nice to meet you, Kencchi!" Kencchi? Where did that come from?
Sora grabs Kenma's arm, determined on dragging him to play on the monkey bars. "I'm in second grade - my teacher, Tsukamoto-sensei, is super nice! The other day me and my friend Hana made a flower out of paper, and..." she babbles on. Kenma lets her lead him around, offering no resistance, but no affirmation either. That doesn't seem to matter to the bright and bubbly girl, who continues chattering on, even without any response from Kenma.
Still, at the end of the day, Kenma knows her teddy bear's name, what she had for breakfast for the past three days, and that she thinks that girls who think boys are cute are weird.
The next time they meet, two weeks later (their mothers hadn't had time to organize another playdate), it's on accident. Kuroo, dropping by that morning, had forced Kenma out of the house (with Kozume-san's permission) to go to the local kid's volleyball club with him. Since they were all still in elementary, the teams had yet to be split by gender, and Kenma could hear the raucous screams of both high- and low(er)-pitched voices all the way from around the corner from the gym. He shrunk in on himself. "Kuro, do we really have to go?" he asks softly.
Kuroo laughs raucously and ruffles his younger friend's hair. "C'mon Kenma, I know you liked it the last time we were here!" Kenma grumbles and drags his feet, but still allows Kuroo to lead him into the air-conditioned gym. At least it's cooler than outside...
There, they find the club already in session - getting Kenma out of the house requires at least 30 minutes of wheedling and begging - and Kuroo is immediately rushed by a multitude of other children. (It's fine, it's normal - Kuroo's always been popular.) Kenma stands to the side, content on letting his friend catch up with his other friends. Suddenly, Kenma's vision is filled with dark hair, dark eyes, and a smile that is still too bright.
"Kencchi! Nice to see you hear!" The girl from the park - Sora, he thinks - chirps. "Do you play volleyball too?" Kenma nods shyly. "That's so cool! What position do you want to play when you grow up? I want to be a middle blocker! They're so cool! Like," Sora raises her arms in a blocking position that is actually quite accurate for someone her age, "bam! shutout!" she exclaims.
Kenma shrugs. "I guess I'm going to play setter." Sora looks at him quizzically, as if she can't comprehend why he isn't as enthusiastic as her. Then, her expression shifts back to pure sunshine. "That's so cool!" she repeats. "Can you set for me?" she asks excitedly. "Oh. Uh, sure." Kenma replies. To be honest, he's not certain why he agrees. He's never been the type to take on extra work, and he certainly isn't one to attempt to "make friends" (he's pretty sure this counts as friendmaking). But somehow, he finds it almost impossible to say no to Sora.
They see each other every week at volleyball club. Soon, weeks become months, months become years, and before Kenma notices, Sora has become one of his closest friends.
They've known each other for two months when Sora starts popping by his house at random hours (they live on the same street, apparently) with Kuroo so that they can drag him out to the riverbank and practice volleyball for hours.
They've been "friends" (Sora enthusiastically declared that they now fit the label during their second volleyball practice together) for five months when Kenma realizes that he's truly comfortable around her.
And with the tides of time, there is also inevitably change. For one, Kuroo graduates, leaving his two childhood best friends behind (only for a year, he insists). For another, Kenma discovers games, and there's no going back from there. Many other "friends" would have left him at this point - he can no longer be seen without his PSP, and it's ten times harder to get him outside to spend time with them.
Sora never minds, however. She knows Kenma like the back of her hand now (and Kuroo too, though to a lesser extent) and she also knows that he does deeply care for her. So, every day at 8PM like clockwork, Kuroo and Sora show up at Kenma's house with snacks in hand, ready to play Mario Kart or whatever Kenma has queued up on his gaming console for a few hours. During this time, it's mostly Kuroo and Sora's voices filling the air, but if you were to ask Kenma about what they had been talking about, he would have been able to give a summary point-by-point.
They also continue to play volleyball - Kuroo and Sora have become formidable blockers, and Sora is now strong enough that she can drag both Kuroo and Kenma one-handed. Kenma has also begrudgingly "leveled up", and he's the starting setter for their elementary school.
It's always been and always will be Kuroo, Kenma and Sora against the world. At least, that was what they believed as children.
Middle school brings a slew of changes. The three friends are back together, though they only meet together (all three of them) during lunch, and increasingly less as Sora becomes occupied with homework and Kuroo with his burgeoning popularity. Kenma's okay with this, he tells himself. But the small ache in his chest says otherwise.
They're still playing volleyball, of course. There have always been three things constant in Kenma and Sora's life: each other, Kuroo, and volleyball. Sora's talent is recognized almost immediately, and she starts having to go to more and more after-school practices as they whip her into shape for middle school tournaments. It's a little different for Kuroo and Kenma. While Kuroo's easy-to-get-along-with demeanor made him many friends on the team, the fact that there were just better people than him for the starting lineup frustrated him to no end. Kenma, on the other hand, was picked on just for being quiet and always absorbed in his games.
Of course, Sora and Kuroo find out eventually, and the two boys who were giving him trouble left school that day with quite a few bruises and a busted lip. ("Violence isn't the answer, Kuro." Kenma admonishes, his worry for his two best friends drawing him out of his usual shell. "But it's usually the question!" pipes up Sora cheekily. "Besides, Tetsu didn't even throw that many punches! I did most of the fighting!" Sora crows proudly, holding up her bruised knuckles as proof. Kenma sighs and hands her an ice pack, but inside he's secretly thankful that he has friends like these two. They may drift apart physically, but he knows that they'll always have his back.)
With middle school, of course, also comes the inevitable "Are you two, you know, together?" questions. Sora has always been bad at suppressing her need to show affection, and Kenma had gotten used to it over the years, so they both think nothing of Kenma riding on Sora's back when he's tired from volleyball practice (even though she just wrapped up her own practice, Sora is never too tired to carry him around) or Kenma giving Sora his chicken breast because he knows that that's her favorite.
They always deny it calmly, but the rumors are still there. And Kenma supposes that he can't blame them. Sora has never bothered to hide their friendship, and Kenma has never pushed her away. He wonders what liking a girl feels like. To be honest, Kenma is pretty sure that he's never had a crush. Yes, he cares for Sora very deeply and would give up his PSP for her (never tell her he would do so, she would never let him live it down), but his heart doesn't go doki-doki when she walks past and he never blushes when she throws an arm around his shoulders when they're walking down the sidewalk together.
Whatever, he thinks. They're still in middle school. Actual romance is so far off it might as well be the moon.
In their last year of middle school, Sora's father walks out on her mother, leaving them for another woman. The next day, Sora's mother (Ikeda-san always made him apple pie on his birthdays, Ikeda-san always looked at her husband like she wanted more, Ikeda-san, Ikeda-san, Ikeda-san.) is found unmoving and blue in their bathtub, water sloshing over the side as Sora sobs next to her, empty pill bottle in the sink.
Sora moves in with her older cousin, Ikeda Hitomi, three blocks away. Her father signed over custody without even a word of protest. Kenma finds it hard to resist the urge to call Kuroo and go rip into the scumbag. It's only three blocks, but somehow Kenma feels like it's a thousand kilometers.
Sora becomes cold and unreachable. She no longer comes for their 8PM gaming sessions. She still sits next to Kenma at school, but there are no more funny notes with caricatures of their duck-voiced science teacher, no more warm smiles, no more nudges to his shoulder when Akame smiles shyly at Haruto.
Sora has always been the one reaching out throughout their friendship, the one who kept the fire stoked, the one who started the conversation. When she withdraws, Kenma finds himself reaching across the gap, looking to fill the sudden empty space.
He shows up every day at 7PM with a hot container of food from his mother because he knows that Hitomi works late to provide for both of them (Sora's cousin is nice, but all of them know that it's too much for a 23-year-old waitress to be taking care of both herself and her baby cousin, but Hitomi will never give Sora up, because Hitomi isn't Sora's father, Hitomi loves Sora, Hitomi, even while physically absent, is always there for Sora, and that is why Kenma trusts her with Sora) and Sora can't cook to save her life.
He begins willingly putting down his games to play volleyball with her and Kuroo (it seems the only thing in life she still has passion for). He wakes up early every morning so that he can walk the extra 10 minutes to Sora's house so they can go to school together. He remembers to bring a scarf for her on winter days, because Sora has seemingly forgotten how to take care of herself.
It hurts Kenma's heart to see his friend like this, a shell of herself.
Eventually, it does get better. Sora doesn't go back to the bright and bubbly girl she used to be, but she does start talking more. She even begins giving small smiles whenever Kuroo cracks an especially horrible joke and Kenma shuts him down. Kenma knows that she'll never quite be the same, but he's happy to have at least part of his best friend back.
He knows that high school will be an entirely different beast, but Kenma's hopeful that it will be alright, with Sora and Kuroo by his side.

Five Times, One Time
The first time Kuroo kissed Kenma, it was an accident. He knew nobody would believe him if he ever told them the story, but it was true. It was an accident, and he was twelve years old. They were in Kenma’s room, with Kenma playing the newest game he had gotten into, his homework forgotten, and Kuroo actually working on his math homework.
“Kenma, you have to finish your homework,” Kuroo said, looking over at his friend, whose focus was completely on the game. His eyebrows were drawn together in concentration, and he was chewing his lip, something he did when he was faced with a particularly difficult boss in a game. “Ken-ma,” Kuroo tried again, having received no response the first time. Kenma ignored him again, so Kuroo did the next best thing. He stuck his face close to Kenma’s ear and whispered, “Ken-ma-sa-a-n.” This prompted Kenma to abruptly turn towards him, and somehow ended with Kuroo’s lips grazing Kenma’s cheek before he pulled away hastily.
It wasn’t really a kiss, not at all, but the fact remained that they were twelve, and if Kenma had been a girl, this would have totally been considered a kiss by all the kids at school, and made Kuroo the coolest person in the class. But Kenma was Kenma, and this wasn’t a kiss, not really, Kuroo told himself.
Despite it not having been a kiss, Kuroo thought about it for the rest of the evening. Kenma had completely ignored it, or perhaps he hadn’t even noticed in his annoyance at Kuroo interrupting him. Which was just another reason that this hadn’t been a kiss. Not at all.
And when some kid on the volleyball team had nerve to ask him about his first kiss, he didn’t think about that day when he was twelve and his lips had grazed Kenma’s cheek. Not at all.
The second time Kuroo kissed Kenma, it was a dare, and he was fifteen. It was senior night at their middle school, and he had convinced Kenma to tag along. Some of his classmates had the brilliant idea to play truth or dare in the gym, and of course, the bottle landed on Kuroo.
He knew he was in trouble when he saw the smirk on Yamada’s face.
“I dare you…to give someone in the gym a kiss,” he said.
Without thinking, he leaned to his left and kissed Kenma on his head. Some of the people in the circle laughed, while others protested.
“That’s cheating, man,” Yamada said. “That doesn’t count. Kiss a girl.”
“You didn’t specify that it had to be a girl,” Kuroo said. “So I’ve completed the dare.” Yamada started to protest again, but someone else told him to shut up and get on with the game, so Kuroo was saved. He glanced at Kenma through the corner of his eye, and saw him frowning slightly.
Neither of them mentioned the kiss.
The third time Kuroo kissed Kenma, he was sixteen, and Kenma was sick of how the seniors on the volleyball team treated the underclassmen. Practice had ended for the day, but the captain had tasked Kenma to clean up, and Kuroo had stayed behind to help.
“I’m quitting,” Kenma said. “I hate the upperclassmen. They order us around just because they were born a year or two earlier than us.”
“Don’t quit, Kenma,” Kuroo said. “I’ll become the captain next year, and then nobody will be able to boss you or any of the underclassmen around so unfairly.”
Kenma frowned at him, as if he didn’t believe him. “How do you know you’ll be the captain though?”
“I’ll work really hard, and I know the other second years will back me up,” Kuroo said with a confidence he didn’t quite feel. And since Kenma still looked skeptical, he took Kenma’s hand and placed a kiss on the back.
“Why did you do that?” Kenma asked. Kuroo couldn’t gauge Kenma’s reaction.
“It was a promise, that I’ll become the captain and you won’t have to worry about anything,” Kuroo said.
Kenma looked at him, and then went back to collect the volleyballs scattered around the gym.
The fourth time Kuroo kissed Kenma, he was seventeen, and they were sitting in his room, doing homework.
“I heard you got a confession letter from a girl today,” Kuroo said, remembering what he’d heard through the grapevine during lunch.
Kenma looked at him strangely. “I did,” he confirmed.
“Did you answer her already?” Kuroo asked, curious for more than one reason.
“Yes. I rejected her,” Kenma said.
“How come?” Kuroo asked, ignoring the relief he felt.
Kenma gave him another strange look. Lately, he couldn’t quite read Kenma as well as he could before, and it bothered him, not knowing what his best friend was thinking.
“I don’t have the time, the energy, or the desire to go out with her,” Kenma said. “Also the biggest reason she mentioned for liking me was my ‘cute nose.’”
Kuroo laughed at this, and leaned forward to plant a kiss on Kenma’s nose. “She’s right, though. It is a cute nose.”
Kenma gave him another indecipherable look, and went back to his work. Kuroo ignored how fast his heart was beating.
The fifth time Kuroo kissed Kenma, he was eighteen, and heading off to university. Not being able to see Kenma as often as he had for the past several years was going to be very difficult, he had finally acknowledged to himself. Perhaps the time away would help him get over his feelings, he thought. And that was what he wanted, wasn’t it? To get over them?
Kuroo thought about what he wanted, in those days leading up to his move away from home. And he came to the conclusion that he did not, in fact, want to get over his feelings, if there was any chance that they could be mutual. That chance was probably very, very low, but his hopes were raised by the fact that Kenma had never dated anyone or seemed interested in anyone. Other than little shrimpy from Karasuno, but when Kuroo had asked Kenma about him one day, Kenma had said they were friends, and shrimpy had a giant crush on his setter. Which made sense, Kuroo supposed. Those two operated on the same plane of existence.
And so, Kuroo decided, that he would shoot his shot before he left. If it worked out, then that would be great, and if it didn’t, at least they’d have the distance between them to help with the awkwardness. The thought of not having Kenma in his life made his heart clench painfully. He was too far gone.
“All packed up, then?” Kenma asked, looking at the boxes in Kuroo’s room.
“Yup. Just have to load them up in the car, and then I’ll be off,” Kuroo replied. “It feels strange to think we won’t be at the same school anymore. I’m going to miss you.”
“Don’t be a sap, Kuro,” Kenma said. “You’re not moving to a different country. You can still visit. Or I will.”
Kenma mentioning the possibility that he would visit Kuroo at his dorm made something stir in Kuroo’s chest. He stepped forward and hugged Kenma, who brought his hands up and lightly hugged him back. Kuroo felt his heart start to race as he contemplated telling Kenma about his feelings. “Just say it,” he told himself.
He opened his mouth, but the words wouldn’t come, so he aimed a haphazard kiss at Kenma’s mouth, only to miss and land between his mouth and cheek.
“Come on, I’ll help you with the boxes,” Kenma said.
The first time Kenma kissed Kuroo, he was seventeen, and visiting Kuroo at his dorm for the first time. School wasn’t the same without Kuroo’s stupid cackle and his bedhead and his bad jokes. Kenma missed Kuroo, but then, he had always known he would.
“You’ve grown your hair,” Kuroo commented, staring at his hair, which Kenma had gathered in a small ponytail. “And it’s not in your face anymore.”
“Being a senior means I have to talk to the underclassmen more. And this helps,” Kenma answered.
“I’m proud of you,” Kuroo said fondly.
“Kuro,” Kenma said, cutting off whatever Kuroo was about to say next. He had waited for years, and it had been long enough.
“Yes?” Kuroo asked, frowning slightly.
“Remember the day you left for university? You seemed like you wanted to tell me something, but then didn’t,” Kenma said. He watched as Kuroo ran a nervous hand through his hair, which was messy as always. He ran his hand through his hair again, and then again a third time. He opened his mouth, but then closed it before saying anything. So Kenma spoke again. “Why did you kiss me that day?”
“I—” Kuroo began, and then stopped.
“That wasn’t the first time. There was that time when you kissed my nose the day I got a confession from a classmate. And the time you promised me that you’d be the captain. That time when you were dared to kiss someone,” Kenma recounted. He hadn’t forgotten a single one of the kisses. They had all been unexpected, and had left him unsure about what Kuroo felt. “And the first time, when you interrupted my game.”
“You remember all those,” Kuroo finally said. “Even the first one. You never said anything.”
“You never did either,” Kenma reminded him. “Why did you do it?”
Kuroo ran his hand through his hair again.
Kenma leaned forward and pressed his lips to Kuroo’s. “Now you know my answer. Do you want to ask the question?”
Kuroo let out a shaky laugh and took a deep breath. “Kenma, I have feelings for you, and I was wondering if there was any chance at all that you might feel the same?”
Kenma rolled his eyes. “Yes.”

Kenma first heard the voices when he was in preschool, the three of them. They felt like the crackling warmth of a fire, a bolt of lightning, the cool breeze on a summer's day. He had never heard of them before. They sounded nice.
They said something about being soulmates.

Keiji had never thought that he would miss them this much.
Sure, the thought had been scary - terrifying, debilitating - at first, but Koutarou was right; they would only be a couple hours away. They would call as often as they could, they had said, and while Keiji knew how hard that would be (since their majors were going to be stressful and of course they would both want to join the volleyball team, and their new college friends, and parties, and, and, and) he had smiled understandingly, feeling Kenma’s hand squeeze around his tighter.
But he didn’t think it would hurt like it did.

For as long as he could remember, Suga could see things when he looked at other people—shadows over their hearts that represented the roadblocks to their happiness. He became known as a problem-solver, a skilled mediator, and the person to come to with any matter of problems. While he used this ability to help his teammates and friends, over the years his own feelings were pushed aside.
He could see Asahi's fear of rejection, Hinata's need to be challenged, and Noya's desire for a person to accept him for who he was. But there was one shadow that never revealed itself to him—that belonging to Sawamura Daichi.
During the Tokyo Training camp, he's confronted by Nekoma's captain, who wants to know what it is that Suga himself is yearning for. Their conversation leads to some uncomfortable truths, and he's forced to admit that he may have been source of Daichi's growing shadow this whole time.

Angry tears track their way down their face as they stiffly pull on a pair of Keiji's sweats and one of Kuro's ridiculously oversized hoodies, pausing to bury their face in Bo's pillow, just to be fair. They miss their boyfriends so much. So much. It's a physical pain now, crackling just behind their ribs, and they know they'll have to try and rid their face of tearstains, otherwise Suga will worry. Suga has already been kind enough to offer them company, and in any case, Kenma doesn't deserve to be worried over. It isn't like it matters anyway.
They freeze.
Oh no.
Of all the days for the intrusive thoughts, the grey-tones jabs, the deathly sharp self-hatred to invade their mind, it just has to be when Bo and Kuro and Keiji were all gone halfway across the country.
This is shaping up to be the worst birthday Kenma has ever had.

It isn’t until Shirabu’s back at LOCCENT that it really sinks in. Forty-eight wins? An impressive number, true, and a definite sign of Ushijima’s strength, especially compared to Tendou. But in anyone else, an unbalanced score like that would indicate a depressingly low chance of drift compatibility.
Drifting with Ushijima was simple statistically, but potentially deadly realistically. And drifting with Tendou? A veritable nightmare. If not for Washijou’s insistence, Shirabu would have dropped him long ago.
Still, something is calling to him. Something beyond numbers and data projections.
Because Ushijima may have knocked Tendou down forty-eight times. But that means there were forty-nine times he got back up.

Kuroo has been in communication with his soulmate ever since they were kids. They've known each other for so long that he never really worried about when or how he would meet them. At least, not until he meets the roommate of Bokuto's soulmate.
Soulmate AU in which things written on your skin show up on your soulmate. Companion piece/same AU as Serendipty
--------------------
Kuroo Tetsurou liked to write on his arms. Despite his mother's half-serious warnings about “ink poisoning” or staining his skin, he insisted on marking his arms and legs wherever he could. Not like his best-friend-since-always Bokuto Koutaro, who had to write on his arms or he’d forget to breathe, but artfully. He’d draw designs, animals, the occasional chemical compound. The whole idea behind soulmates fascinated him: how one person could mark their arm and someone potentially thousands of miles away, would have that same mark appear. The amount of articles, studies, and books he’d read about the topic, even at a young age, could put an undergrad researcher to shame.

warnin: trauma, vomit, mentioned abuse, panic attacks
The simplest things can change someone so drastically, Kuroo thinks.
No, Kuroo knows. He’s been through it multiple times. He reiterates to himself everything that made Kuroo Tetsurou shaped like the person he is now.
In the beginning, he was a lump of clay. A lump of clay to be molded by the hands of love and nurture. That was how it went, really. He was a happy, soft lump, in his parents’ hands.
But he was chipped early. Five-year-old Tetsurou, thrown at the ground multiple times until he cracked. His wrist kept in a cast for a month, and one of his parents signed away with papers.
At the time, he didn’t know what he had done wrong. He cried and cried, begging for his father to bring his mother back. His throat would be hoarse from crying every night, waking up from the same nightmare that deepened the cracks inside of him.
A few years later, another moulding tool came into his life.
Kenma, Kozume Kenma. The boy he met when he moved into his new estate. The first person his age to witness him having a breakdown. The one who cried with him after he was told the reason why.
“I don’t know, Kenma. Why didn’t my mama love me?”
Kuroo cried in Kenma’s arms. He didn’t exactly fit in them. But it was the most comforting place he’d ever been in.
“I’m an only child.” Kenma had said, stroking Kuroo’s hair with his small, chubby hands. “I can share.”
For a while, Kuroo would claim that he had three parents.
It’s impossible for him to explain his life without including volleyball.
Kenma didn’t like sports, but he would always watch him copy the moves he saw on television. Most of the time, the volleyball would end up plopping on his head. After a while, it wasn’t just Kenma in his little world of volleyball.
It was the neighbourhood kids, his middle school teammates, the players from rival schools. They all molded him into a volleyball player-shaped sculpture, hardened from years of experience and losses.
And, of course, his high school teammates and rivals.
The third years know more about him than most of his classmates. It’s partly due to how much he’s bickered with Yaku over what’s better between two everyday options, exposing himself as a cat person with a preference for seaside holidays, and a lot more.
The first and second years all look up to him, or so he likes to think. He can trust Yamamoto to be the ace, and maybe, just maybe, Lev can fill his shoes in a year or two.
The first years are adorable, and Kuroo’s adopted all of them. Shibayama is Yaku’s kid, and Yaku refuses to share. It’s a shame, really.
“Hey hey hey!”
Bokuto Koutarou, the obnoxiously amazing ace of Fukurodani.
“Let’s practice! Are you a first year too? Well, come on! What’s the wait? Jump some blocks for me!”
Kuroo had met him at the first training camp he’d gone to, and had been yanked into a strange friendship ever since. And in his second year, a stoic but sharp first year had unofficially married Bokuto.
“Hi, I’m Akaashi Keiji. It’s nice to meet you.”
Bokuto had fawned over him. “Isn’t he just the cutest?”, rubbing his hair.
“Nice to meet ya, squirt.”
That marked the start of two years, where Bokuto and Kuroo would fool around with Akaashi in every way known to man.
As every tool and every new lump of clay added onto him shaped Kuroo Tetsurou, the cracks and bumps began to smooth out. He felt good about himself, pushing the older, darker memories far inside of him. That way, he could believe that they had disappeared.
But the simplest things can evoke the most foreign emotions inside of him.
“Shut the fuck up! You’re annoying!”
Kuroo doesn’t know where the voice came from, within the crowded hallway. But the tone and pitch are too similar, hitting too close for comfort. It draws out the dark matter from his chest, reaching into the most uncomfortable parts of him. He can feel himself crack more and more.
“Kuro, you okay?”
Kenma’s voice is distorted. His eyes flash with terror, and he barely manages to nod. He can feel his brain shutting down one by one, and his throat tightening.
“I- I’m fine.” Kuroo swallows. His mouth is dry. His breath starts to whistle. “I just need the bathroom.”
With his poorly-made excuse, Kuroo rushes down the hallway.
He’s running too fast, he’s bumping into people- he doesn’t care. There’s more and more yelling clogging up his brain. He can’t breathe. His hand clenches against his chest, nails scratching against his skin.
With all the grace of a crumbling statue, Kuroo slams the door and locks himself in a stall.
Tears start to gather at his eyes. He shouldn’t be crying. Damn it all to hell. He’s gotten over it all. He shouldn’t be reviving the feeling of the hand on his wrist. He shouldn’t be thinking of what was said to him.
He violently wipes away the tears, as a shudder passes through him. Short, ragged gasps escape his mouth. He’s having a flashback in a school bathroom, and he can’t control his own thoughts.
“Hey! Hey, everything all right in there?”
Someone is slamming on the door. He doesn’t know who’s knocking, and it doesn’t help at all. It almost sends him straight over the edge.
A harsh cough tears through his throat. He hates being watched during one of his breakdowns. And he’s in public, knowing he’ll lose it on the spot if he dares come out of the stall.
The banging on the door grows louder, and it’s sensitive against his ears. They’re filled with static, a broken radio playing the conversations out directly into his brain. He wants to take apart his head, crush the speakers inside him.
“Stop.” Kuroo protests helplessly, against something so big and ferocious that it knocks the wind out of him. “Please, stop! It hurts, it hurts…”
He’s always had his shit together, which makes it all the more worse when he’s losing it. He feels like he’s going to throw up. The noise, it’s all too much. Huge droplets of tears spill from Kuroo continuously. His eyes and nose are a mess of bodily fluids.
“Kuro, are you here? Kuro?”
It’s Kenma’s familiar voice. Kuroo fumbles for the lock against his instincts. If it’s just Kenma, he can let him in. He trusts him enough to see him at a time like this.
Kenma stares at him, reaching out gently. “It’s all okay. I’m here, breathe.”
Kuroo only sobs harder. He grabs Kenma’s arm and collapses into him, his breathing choked and painful. The pain is almost too much to bear, even inside Kenma’s warmth.
“I- I don’t want to die,” he cries out, “I’m gonna die, I can’t breathe… Kenma, please, don’t let me die!”
“You can.” Kenma strokes his hair quietly, rocking him in his arms. Kuroo whimpers, squeezing his eyes shut. “It’s okay. You’re trying your best.”
Kuroo blinks out his tears. Kenma feels good, but he’s also overstimulated to the point of feeling horribly nauseous and achy. His brain seems to burst out of his head, unable to deal with the amount of information.
His stomach is queasy, and he pitches forward with a gag. The sick, twisted feeling sits deep in his stomach. And it’s anxiety, wriggling inside of him like a parasite. It’s intent on destroying its host. It’s working.
“Kuro, are you feeling sick?”
Kenma only has a few seconds to turn Kuroo around, as he heaves up a thin stream of vomit into the toilet. Kuroo stares around in horror- he’s losing control even more. He’s definitely going to die. He’s not normal any more.
“It hurts, fuck… Why?” Kuroo’s groan turns into a sob, before his stomach squeezes upwards and he’s puking again. The force of the gag pinches his chest, barely allowing him time to breathe in between the retches.
“I know it hurts.” Kenma rubs tight circles on Kuroo’s back, whispering into him as the heaves and sobs vibrate his back. “Mm, you’re okay. It’s all okay. We'll go somewhere safer once you’re feeling a bit better, Kuro.”
Kuroo shuts his eyes tightly, but he can still smell the disgusting, putrid stench of acid and half-digested food. He focuses on Kenma’s voice. He’s Kuro, nothing else, nothing less. He’s the Kuro Kenma knows and loves.
“Kenma, I-”
He can’t say anything. His mouth is filled with slime, and he’s exhausted. He collapses into Kenma, groaning at the growing pain in his head. The flashbacks are fading, slowly being replaced with a god-awful migraine of a headache.
With a glimmer of comfort for the first time, Kuroo loses consciousness.

Can I have an au where kuroo and the reader have a one night stand. But then turns out he is her child's teacher.
» Word Count: 1,562 words
akjsksjadksjdk idk i thought this was better if it’s in kuroo’s perspective. I had a lot of fun writing this, I hope you enjoy! P.S blockquotes are so ugly on tumblr mobile I Cringed.
“I’ll be keeping an eye out for him, Oikawa,” Kuroo chuckles, patting his old friend on the shoulder while handing him his child, Hayato’s report card. The former setter huffs at the contact, slinging a protective arm over his shoulder.
“Don’t talk to me or my son ever again,” he hisses, while his student berates his father. (“Dad, you’re embarrassing me.”)
As the peculiar duo exits the classroom, Kuroo can see Iwaizumi waiting by the door. Hayato engulfs his other father in an embrace, telling Iwaizumi something out of his earshot. Kuroo smiles to himself before standing up to call out the next parent he has to talk to.
He scans his class list for whoever’s next after Iwaizumi Hayato, and calls out:
“Izumi-san?” He pops his head in the hallway with a hand on the doorframe. His eyes dart around a bit, segregating through familiar faces of parents he’s shared some words with before. Izumi Chiharu is quite a bright student, never really getting into any form of trouble. For a sixth grader, she’s quite keen with her surroundings, and performs really well in school. He’s heard that she’s going to be enrolled in Shiratorizawa for junior high, even.
Eventually, Kuroo spots Chiharu, who catches his eye, gesturing that her mother is in the restroom. He nods before going back inside the classroom, shutting the door behind him.
Kuroo treads back to the seat behind his desk, rolls his neck around until he hears a satisfying crack! His eyes settle in the classroom in front of him. Come to think of it, he wouldn’t envision himself as a grade school teacher when he was in his third year of high school, much more a homeroom teacher. Though some may have pointed out that he guided his teammates well back then, handling a class of twelve year-olds is completely different story. Yet here he is, lounging inside an empty classroom, handing out his students’ report cards to their parents.
His musing is interrupted by the sound of a soft knock on the door. When it slides, Chiharu peeks from the opening before coming inside and settling in her given seat in class. Kuroo gives her a lopsided grin, to which she reacts by looking outside the window instead. She may be a reliable student, but she sure is an introvert. She kind of reminds him of Kenma sometimes.
“Ah, Kuroo-san, sorry,” comes the voice of Chiharu’s mother, presumably. Kuroo doesn’t look at her right away, but when he does, his eyes become as wide as a doe’s caught in headlights.
Thick tufts of hair gliding between his fingers, before roughly pulling on them. Skin as smooth as silk as he left love bites in his wake. Eyes so deep, he swears he can get lost in them. The intoxicating scent that invaded his nostrils, making him yearn for more –
“Kuroo-san?” He flinches at your voice, shaking his head out of the hazy memory. When he takes a good look at you, you’re wearing dark-washed jeans and a white blouse. Your face is devoid of heavy makeup, having only settled for light lipstick and a dash of color to your cheeks. Is this woman in front of him the person from last week? She can’t be.
“Kuroo-san,” you repeat, more firm this time. You don’t seem to be baffled with his presence in front of you. Do you not recognize him?
“A-Ah, good morning, Izumi-san. Please take a seat.” He forcefully evens out his tone because he ate up enough time gawking at you.
You nod with a wary look in your eyes, eyebrow quirked in wonder as you sit down directly in front of him. Kuroo fumbles with the report cards on his table, and he curses himself for not organizing the pile alphabetically. When he manages to find Chiharu’s, he hands them to you.
“Chiharu’s a good kid. She doesn’t really get called out like some of her classmates are, and she even does an exemplary performance in her academics.” He clears his throat, avoiding your eyes as much as he can. “There’s not much to discuss, since her grades are of high caliber as well. Probably just take her out for lunch or reward her for good measure.”
Your eyes scan the paper in front of you, smiling when you see the fruit of your daughter’s hard work. You carefully place the report card inside your bag, standing up to bow at him.
“My daughter’s in good hands I see,” you grin, and…fuck. It is you. The curve of your lips, the mischievous glint in your eye – you’re Salacious Serena.
Kuroo swallows thickly, gaze alternating between you and Chiharu. He wonders if she knows that her mother works in a high-end brothel in the city’s red light district. She probably does. Twelve is a good age to tell your kid that you’re one of Tokyo’s most popular courtesans.
Admittedly, Kuroo isn’t a fan of having one night stands. He thinks it’s pathetic, laying with someone you barely know. But when Bokuto just happened to drag him all the way to the most vile part of town for the owl’s birthday, he finds himself unable to tear his eyes off the stripper that gave him a lap dance out of Bokuto’s request.
When you were done with him, there was a tent in his trousers, and his mouth was agape. Before you left their booth, though, you slipped a piece of paper in the pocket of his shirt.
“You’re pretty cute. You deserve my number,” you smirked, patting his cheek before exiting with an enticing sway to your scantily clad hips.
Bokuto whistled. “Salacious Serena has it bad for you, bro!”
“What?” he asked his best friend, who proceeded to explain that every stripper in this joint went by an alias, and that you happened to be the most highly paid prostitute in town. He didn’t like the way Bokuto worded it out, but he suppose that’s the most straightforward way to describe it.
Then a little later that week, he called you, you went over to his place, and everything hitched off pretty well from there. He insisted that he paid you for coming on such late notice, but you made him keep his money, and said that it was on you.
“Say, where do you work again, Tetsu?” You asked him, tracing vague shapes on his bare chest.
“I work at that elementary school uptown. I’m a teacher,” he replied with nonchalance.
Your ears perked up at that. “Oh? Do you happen to teach Class 6-A?”
He raised an eyebrow. “Spot on. How’d you know?”
You giggled, pecking his lips as you got up to get dressed. “I’m a good guesser.”
That answer hardly satisfied him, but he left it at that. Even if it wasn’t paid, he still treated it as a business transaction. He needn’t ask questions that weren’t relevant to the ordeal.
As you opened the door to his bedroom, you looked back at him with a simper. “This won’t be the last you’ll see of me, Tetsu.”
But before he could ask what you meant by that, you already shut the door behind you. Today, he finally found out what you were talking about that night.
“Kuroo-san, you look like you’ve seen a ghost.” The smile that plays on your lips borders on taunting, but he can’t exactly lose his cool with Chiharu in the room.
“U-Uh, no, not at all,” he stammers, beads of sweat beginning to trickle down the side of his face. “I just think the next parent’s waiting outside.”
You nod in understanding before turning to your daughter. “Haru-chan, let’s go. There’s a game that you wanted to buy at the toy store, right? Let’s go grab some lunch, too.”
Immediately, Chiharu is by your side, holding your hand with an excited glint in her eyes. Huh. So she’s into video games.
“Thank you very much, Kuroo-san.” You bow before leaving the classroom with your daughter in tow. This time, you don’t spare him any of your suggestive looks, your attention solely on Chiharu, who’s telling you all about the game she wanted.
When he’s left once more in the solitude of the classroom, he receives a text from…Kenma?
Kuro, you teach at Tokyo Elementary, right?
He furrows his eyebrows.
yea, y? whereve u been i havent seen u in ages
Work. I have a daughter, if you want to know. Is the card distribution done?
wtf ?????????!!!!!!
Yes. I’m sorry I only told you now. I’m not with her mom, but I still support them however I can.
kenma what the fuck how old is the kid
She’s in sixth grade now, so…twelve, maybe.
Something akin to dread materializes in the pit of his stomach, as Chiharu’s face pops in his head – introverted, calculative, into video games…
……….is her last name izumi or somethin
Yes. Do you know her? I’m in the city, and I’m going to have lunch with her and her mother.
Kuroo stuffs his phone back in the pocket of his pants, not wanting to lengthen the first conversation he’s had with Kenma in years.
“Kendo-san?” he calls out the next parent in line, forcing whatever thoughts he had of you, Kenma, and Chiharu in the recesses of his mind. It could wait. Hopefully.

part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6, part 7, part 8 (you are here), part 9, based on @skygemspeaks‘s prompt
The first time Yuuri meets Lev’s friends, he’s inexplicably charmed.
There’s the small one, who Yuuri correctly assumes is Yaku, and he looks awkward. He would probably prefer to be anywhere but here at the moment, and honestly? Yuuri can’t bring himself to be offended. Meeting a (from the way they look at each other when they think the other isn’t looking… potential boy?)friend’s parents is always awkward.
Then there’s the captain, who reminds Yuuri a bit of Mila in all the best ways. He takes Alisa’s defensiveness like a champ and comes back from her obligatory shovel talk looking more protective than defensive.
And finally, Kenma, whose last name is actually Kozume but who seems to have no patience for honorifics. Yuuri heard all about him when Lev first started volleyball. Kenma is everything Lev isn’t: calm, quiet, strategic. But one thing he and Lev (and Yuuri) have in common is the one thing Yuuri would never wish upon anyone.
He’d hoped originally that Lev was exaggerating Kenma’s anxiety, that perhaps it wasn’t as bad as it appeared or that maybe Lev was seeing symptoms where there are none to be seen. But when he sets eyes on Kenma (and, consequently, Kuroo; it doesn’t take long to figure out that they’re a set), he sees. He sees the quiet boy stick close to Kuroo, clutching his sleeve without even realizing. His free hand stays in his jacket pocket unless he’s using it for something and Yuuri would bet his medals that he’s using the cubes Yuuri gave him.
Later in the night, when the dishes are done and there’s a lull in conversation-- or as much of a lull as there ever is; Victor and Lev are still chatting quietly --Kenma tugs on Kuroo’s sleeve, looking up at him with wide eyes that make Yuuri want to squish his cheeks.
He doesn’t, of course; that would be wildly inappropriate.
It’s not the last time any of them are over; now that the season is over and Yurio isn’t around all the time to scare off Lev’s friends, it’s as if their house becomes one of the bases of operations. Lev claims that it’s because of their massive living room and TV, so it’s easier for strategy meetings, but Yuuri can’t help but think that it’s because he’s finally found his niche.
Generally, it’s the same three boys that come over, because they tend to stay the longest at practice. Occasionally it’s only one or two, or other members of the team, but all three of them come home with Lev more often than not. With a little patient prodding, Yuuri discovers that Kenma is a mochi monster, and can eat more ice cream in ten minutes than Yuuri could probably handle in a week. Kuroo is witty and unerringly sharp, despite the way he tries to portray himself; he reminds Yuuri of Victor. He learns that Yaku’s favorite dish is stir fried vegetables (which he uses as an excuse to cook them, since he’s partial to them as well).
After a month of this routine, or lack thereof, Yuuri is surprised to be pulled aside by Kenma. The boy’s hair hangs in front of his eyes, as it usually does when he talks to Yuuri alone. Yuuri doesn’t take it personally.
He squirms for a second before taking a deep breath. Yuuri waits, giving him time to gather his thoughts, and he’s rewarded with a quiet “Thank you. For the cubes. They help a lot in class.”
“Oh.” Yuuri is surprised, but he smiles. Kenma is nearly his height, and he’s glad he doesn’t have to look up or down at him. “Of course. They were Lev’s idea, though.”
Kenma nods a little. “I know. I’ve… I’ve thanked him already. But you were the one who bought them, so. Thanks. And… thank you for letting me and Kuro impose so often.”
“You’re welcome here anytime, for any reason,” Yuuri says automatically, sensing Kenma’s discomfort. “We love having you all here, it makes the place even livelier.”
When Kenma nods, but still doesn’t meet his eyes, Yuuri takes a small risk. He puts a gentle hand on the boy’s shoulder. “I mean it, Kenma-kun. You’re a pleasure to have you over. Even if you just need somewhere to get away from the world, all you have to do is knock.”
He can tell he’s hit the nail on the head when Kenma’s shoulders tense. “Kuro… Kuro said you might be able to help me? With anxiety. If that’s alright. I don’t want to put you out--”
“Put that thought out of your head right now,” Yuuri says firmly. “Of course I’ll do whatever I can to help you, Kenma.” You have no idea how much you’ve helped my family.
It takes more reassurance on Yuuri’s end, and some mental preparation on Kenma’s, but he slowly opens up. He tells Yuuri about his color system with Kuroo (which is ingenious, in Yuuri’s opinion; if he’d thought of that he may have had an easier time all those years ago) and about how, despite how much Kuroo tries to help, he doesn’t really know how.
Yuuri has Kuroo talk to Victor about that, discreetly.
After all that, they start spending even more time at the Kastuki-Nikiforov-Haiba home, sometimes without even using volleyball as an excuse. Lev is ecstatic to have his friends over so often, and Yuuri makes sure to keep extra mochi in the house.
Kuroo asks him to stop enabling his boyfriend’s mochi addiction.
Lev says Kenma has never agreed to toss to him this often before.
Yuuri keeps buying mochi.
When he’s feeling especially brave or it’s a particularly green day, Kenma will be the one to approach Yuuri, asking shyly for advice about something.
Once it’s about whether Yuuri agrees with his parents about his “unhealthy” gaming habits (“Not at all! I played a lot of games and I think I turned out just fine, don’t you?”). He brings up being a burden on their household several times, claiming that he spends more time here or at Kuroo’s than he does at home (“As long as your relationship with your parents isn’t suffering, that isn’t a problem”). One particularly memorable time, he asks in a very small voice if Yuuri thinks he’s too dependent on Kuroo, because a teacher mentioned it today in school after separating them in a group project.
“Of course not!”
It’s not Yuuri that answers him that time, but Lev. He seems to have wandered into the kitchen for a snack, but stops when he hears Kenma’s question.
Kenma looks at Lev with wide, shocked eyes, but Lev hurries on. “Clinging on to something that makes you feel better isn’t a bad thing, Kenma-san! All it means is that you have a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Kuroo-san is to you what… what skating is to Papa, right? Or what volleyball is to me! And if Kuroo-san or skating or volleyball are our reasons, so be it.” And with that vaguely heartbreaking (to Yuuri at least) statement, Lev grabs a soda from the fridge and walks back out to play Mario Party with Kuroo, Yaku, and Kuroo’s friend Bokuto (who’s been showing up more frequently lately) without another word. Kenma looks floored. Yuuri can relate.
“What he said,” Yuuri says lamely, opening the freezer and pulling out a mochi ball for Kenma.
But surprises and anxieties aside, they’re a good group of kids, and Yuuri couldn’t have asked for better upperclassmen or better friends for his son.
So when Lev approaches him in the summer, waving around a permission slip for a volleyball field trip to training camp, Yuuri and Victor sign off without hesitation for the first time in their lives. The whoop that he releases is loud enough to wake the dead (read: his Uncle Yuri) and he rushes to pack his bags, much to Yuuri’s amusement.
“Lev, the camp doesn’t start for another week!”

okay, i just can't stop thinking about this? but like, i imagine that if kuroo has an s/o, they're probably going to be friends with kenma, right? i, along with probably the rest of the fandom, also headcanon that kenma has anxiety. so can you do a scenario where said gf is with JUST kenma (probably waiting for kuroo or planning his surprise party or something) and suddenly kenma gets a mental breakdown so she kinda comforts him while kuroo gets a call and rushes to where they are?
I have so many things to say with Kenma, but I hope that this turned out to your satisfaction. Honestly, I think Kenma is very strong. But even the strong have their weak moments, and they deal with it the best they can, right? So I think that his way of dealing would be his silence, and all his different sides just collapsing into each other, and Kenma forgets who he is a little. I’m no expert on anxiety, and I can only base this on my singular experience, but I only wish that when it happened, I had been around someone I could trust, like Kenma has.
“Butjust because it burns doesn’t mean you’re gonna die,You gotta get up and try, try, try.”-Try, Pink.
Kenma’s never been one for many words. It’s a quiet afternoon,a rare day in Tokyo indeed, and Kenma’s silence as you manoeuvre his mouseacross his monitor is more than the approval you need. Maybe he’s just in agiving mood, or maybe there’s something about the way the sky’s darkening today, but just because you can’t put a finger on it, doesn’t mean it’s less valuablein the slightest.
“I’m going to press create, okay?” You glance downonce at your friend’s defeated posture and grin. Kenma doesn’t even bothernodding, or speaking, he simply looks up at you with that exasperatedly deadexpression on his face, and you know that it’s ago.
You press create, like you had said, and the ‘createyour character’ screen pops up immediately. As expected of the newest graphicscard, there’s zero lag in this gamer’s build.
“Alright,” you tell him as you lean back, “now it’sall yours.”
“I see I shouldn’t have been glad when I found outthat Kuro’s girlfriend is a gamer too.”
“What’s wrong?” You grin some more, channelling a bitof Kuroo yourself, “this is a game! It’s a good game! You can’t just play onthose tiny buttons all the time.”
“This is an MMORPG, and yes, I can.”
“Since you don’t want to socialize in person, you cantalk to people online.”
Kenma looks at you witheringly. “I’m talking to you, aren’t I?”
“You’re the one who invited me over,” you practicallyglow at the memory.
“Yeah, that’s ‘cus you wouldn’t stop bothering meabout this game.”
“Not because you like me?”
“Get out.”
You laugh, an unfeminine, cackling laugh and somehow, the corners of Kenma’s lips tilt upwards just the tiniest bit.
“C’mon, Kenmaaaaa, make your character!”
Kenma rolls his eyes, but turns back to the screen asdirected. You watch eagerly as his fingers drape over his streamline mouse, elegantfrom years of practice, and wait for the first change he’s going to make.
Nothing happens.
The cursor remains unmoving, and those thin, setterfingers stay exactly where they are. It’s a beautiful picture, but it’s lessentertaining when all your friend is doing is staring at the shimmering blue creationscreen without a single movement.
“Hey… are you alright?” You dare to shift a littlecloser. “I’m sorry if I was bothering you too much.”
“It’s fine,” he says so quietly that you’d have missedit if you weren’t almost draped over his back.
The hairs on the back of your neck raise in anxiousnessanyway, Kenma’s reassurance bouncing off you completely. “You don’t have toplay if you don’t want to. I know I was really pushy but-“
“-I’m fine,” he repeats, firmer.
You sit back on your heels, falling silent. Kenmararely spoke to you like that, or anyone, for that matter. As the silence growslonger, the more you feel in the way, as if you were blocking somethingprofound from happening, as if there’s a voice in the background begging you toleave.
So you do, and you get to your feet without any resistance.Maybe Kenma noticed, but there’s no movement from him that indicates eitherway. The steps towards his bedroom door feels heavy, but you don’t let themdrag.
“I’ll leave,” and those aren’t the words you want tosay, but they come out anyway- blunt, more honest than anything else you’d beable to conjure. Your hand rests uselessly on the doorknob, and you count tofive for a response before you left the house for good.
It hits four, then five, and you turn the handle.
“It’s not-“ he begins like a startled bird in winter, dartingout and back in. You almost miss it, with the flurry of shame that rushes toyour cheeks. “-it’s not you. I-I…” and you feel like you’re losing him, beingdragged away by the current, and the boy who never speaks meets the girl whonever fights.
You feel the metal slip away from underneath yourfingers as you sink down to the floor. Afraid to look up, or perhaps todiscover what you’ll see, you make your way across the traditional Japanese flooringon your hands and knees until you’re a reasonable distance from Kenma again.
His hands have fallen away from his PC and onto hislap. He doesn’t seem to be looking at them, however, but to the side, countingthe ridges on a square of flooring.
“I’m not afraid of talking to people,” he finallyspeaks up.
Somehow, you know that you’ve lost this round, thatyou’re the one left to catch up as Kenma takes one step by one step away fromhis comfort zone and you’ve yet to attempt. Heck,if you’re catching up, then you’re going to catchup.
“What are you afraid of?” Confidence comes slowly, butit swims upwards as your sentence comes to a close. Perhaps this isn’t what you’rebest at, as the words you want always seem to dance in front of your fingertipsand slip away at the last moment, but you- you love this kid. As a friend, as ahuman being, and when he turns around to look at you in a soaring act ofbravery, you’re humbled.
Kenma’s shaking, just barely, and just because, you reach out and pull his frail shoulders againstyour own. He falls into you without much resistance. His posture is stillrigid, his angles unfriendly and his breathing hostile, but he’s close, and you’rethere, and you’re going to sit there with him until that upwards twitch of hislips comes back.
“I’ve got anxiety,” he announces dully, like it’s unavoidablehow the sun rises in the east, “GAD.”
“Okay.”
“I-I don’t like people around when it happens.”
You say nothing, because it’s the right thing to say.If Kenma doesn’t want you here, then you wouldn’t be. And his interruption isas much of an invitation for you to leave as was your five seconds at the doorwas to go.
“I think Kuro’s the only one who’s been around when itgets bad,” he adds.
“Would you like me to call him here?”
Kenma doesn’t reply, but you see how his fingersclench and then unwind again, so you reach for your phone with one hand andtype in the message.
“If you don’t want to talk about it, you don’t haveto,” you murmur. “But what happened?”
“Just now.”
“Mhm.”
His silence returns, as does his shaking, and all youcan do is hold him with your own small heart. And, you wait. Soft, hesitantstrokes up and down his back you offer, and he shrinks away at first but leansinto your touch after a few seconds. Another act of bravery; you count two.
“I think of gaming a lot,” Kenma begins, “and I starta lot of games. So this MMO… it- I keep on starting things, and it’s like aloop.”
You know he can feel you nod against his hair, andsomehow, his heaves for air grow just the slightest bit more regular, althoughlouder. Like he’s not trying to hide them as much anymore.
“A loop where nothing ever ends,” he breathes, and ifa beautiful dream could be a nightmare, this is its battle cry. “I never start anythingmeaningful in my life, I only start things that take up my time, start games, beat levels- and then next game… I’m in a fucking loop.”
This is the first time you’ve heard Kenma swear withsuch vehemence, and it makes him sound present in ways you can’t bring towords.
“I’ve never really thought about what I’d like to do,or what I can do. Even volleyball I’vefollowed Kuro around and joined because he made it fun for me- it’s likenothing I’ve done is for myself.”
“Your hobby is you, too.”
“But they’re just hobbies,”he gasps, desperate. “I can’t be just games, that’s just really sad.”
Your fingers tighten, but you’re not going to saysomething you know won’t be welcome right now.
“And I don’t know what I’m capable of. Maybe it’snothing, maybe it’s just being a mediocre setter.”
He isn’t.But you can’t tell him that yet.
“I can just see it- all my life I’m going to be tiredand useless and just a quiet guy who games and doesn’t like people. I can’teven like people,” and Kenma laughscruelly against your shoulder. “What am I going to be? When will I ever getanywhere? What if I don’t care? I’m the most afraid of not caring. It’sprobably the option that’s going to come true the most.”
“I don’t think you have to care,” you offer quietly. “Whohas the right to guilt you into caring about things you don’t?”
Kenma moves to slap you about the head. “Society, dumbass.”
“Seriously, Kenma.” You sound serious. “I-I’m in noplace to say much but, I think you’re allowed to be you. You don’t have topunish yourself for being you.”
“It doesn’t help, being me,” he answers. Toeing theline between snarky and exhausted, he sounds like Kenma again, and you know forone that his laugh won’t leave you.
You shrug. “It might not help, but we can make do,right?”
“Is that the plan? To wing it?”
“I’ll help you,” you promise, tentative and feathery, like a wish made in a dream, and all Kenma has to do is to reach out and graspit. “Kuroo will help you. All your friends will help you. We can’t control everything, right? So we just gotta make do. Some things we just can’t plan for.”
“Some things,” he echoes.
“Yup.”
“Maybe I should stop gaming,” he says, and sounds somiserable saying it that it almost makes you laugh.
“Don’t! Who else would I play with? Besides, you’renot losing things because of your hobby. It’s just a hobby,” you tell himagain, “it’s okay to like it. But it’s also okay to try new things too, so wecan figure out together ‘what you’re capable of’, yeah?”
Kenma heaves a defeated sigh, and smiles. It’s a weaklittle thing, but it makes your chest warm. The only appropriate response is tocuddle him even more, to which he can only protest feebly against death bybreasts. Naturally, you don’t hear a word of it.
It’s also how Kuroo finds the two of you- he’s pantingand looking far too disheveled and sweaty for his fashionable lookingensemble, and there’s a funny little dance his face makes as he tries to decidewhether to be worried, baffled, or tsk.
“You put some effort into your clothing today.”
“Someone bothered today. Wow.” Both you and Kenma sayin unison, with varying levels of enthusiasm.
Kuroo shakes his head, a parent home to find thirddegree destruction, and flops down next to the two of you. You yelp, because he’sa big guy, and very capable of flattening both you and Kenma.
“I was worried sick,”he whines. “Then I rush here to find you two going at it-“
“We were not!”
“Oi Kenma,” Kuroo drapes himself almost entirely onKenma’s back- which is supported by your own frame, and you definitely feel thestrain. “Are you trying to steal my girlfriend?”
“Like hell,” Kenma rolls his eyes again, “she wouldn’teven leave me alone about that stupid game.”
Kuroo reaches over to ruffle your hair, and you curlinto it unconsciously like a cat.
“Which game, eh? Can I play?”
“You really should ask her instead-“
“Whaaaat, you haven’t even passed the creation screen?Kenmaaaaaaaaaa.”
“JesusChrist, alright, just shut up.”
Kenma drags his unwilling flesh body over to theabandoned PC and taps at his mouse with the weariness of a dying god. Kuroohovers happily around him, pleased enough that the tension drains out from thewires of his muscles.
They make such a picture. You’re tempted to take outyour phone and snap one, but something holds you back and you decide that the betteroption is to leave the two of them to it for now.
You’re a simple step away from the open doorway, butyou can’t resist the temptation to glance back one more time.
Kuroo’s eyes meet yours, a stolen secret, and when hesmiles at you- relief, gratefulness, pride, love- you don’t bother hiding youranswering one.

oikawa week 2017, day 2.
oikawa week 2017, day 2: gluttony/temperance
pairing: oikawa tooru & kuroo tetsurou
a self-indulgent fic about dragon riding, kuroo and “the strain of his burly, tanned forearms,” dragons, hungry dragons and really just an excuse to write about dragons.
❝Won't you please, Slow it down? I'm tryna talk to you, darlin', Tryna walk with you, darlin'.❞ —Heatstroke, Calvin Harris.
"Come on, girl, let's try not to mess up too badly this time, yeah?" Kuroo doesn't expect words, for they're fragile and the wind abducts them right from his ears. The creature nods, keeps its eyes ahead to where poles formed lines, with a gap wide enough for a dragon to zigzag through if they were trained well enough. There's nothing more to be said. Kuroo tips his head forward, allows the wind to wrong him like a tide of strangers.
The time was late enough that the younger riders have left to run their hands through their hair, bathe, and nurse their scrapes with red fingertips. Above is a direction Kuroo fears to look yet recklessly aims for, thinking he might lose himself in the harsh whistles of resistance and in questions he's kept since his childhood.
This is the last attempt, Kuroo told himself and his dragon, although determination was a fine fire, hardier than the lamps that blink as they arise at the same times, startling any sleepy-eyed dragons that stretch their heads high enough. He can no longer impress the audience with the strain of his burly, tanned forearms, a gift of rich afternoons, when his mistakes leave the stink of forest and long-lived sweat on his clothes and the sour taste of dissatisfaction when he puts his hands behind his head and sighs into a pillow that's collected enough of his frustrations it could balloon and tap a ceiling too dull to hope to replicate the stars in even its best display years.
Nobody told Kuroo it was impossible, to maneuver through six poles when the dragon's already begun to accelerate, a word Kuroo loathes being told in a place that wasn't on the back of his dragon, but older men, who share tales that aren't their own, have told him riders have left their endeavors with more than just broken dignities.
Kuroo's okay with scalding water, with Kenma's scalding words told as impassively as a question of how well his day had gone. Kuroo Tetsurou was not discouraged easily, and he quite liked things that whisked danger into their craft. Kenma would only question Kuroo when they were simply friends that chatted when it was permitted, when their closeness was an idea Kuroo chuckled at until he found himself more and more occupied with the elusive kid; now, Kenma only looks at Kuroo's most recent bruise with a shake of his head and a long blink, as if he would forget the sight of purple that Kuroo likes pretending isn't there, isn't painful.
Kuroo breathes the smell of the earth, mingled with the smell of the forest that's been shooed away for the area far away enough that a dragon rolling through dirt only startles a raccoon with braided whiskers and something in between its dirty paws.
He rubs a spot behind the dragon's front legs, a tender spot more muscle than tough scale, and she closes her eyes a little, satisfied. Her tail swings a little higher behind her. Kuroo's only heard her purr once, when he walked her back to her stable and another rider, with cropped hair and a tongue piercing Kuroo only discovers when the other guy hollers a greeting at what he could only assume to be a close friend; the guy's dragon was male, a rarity, colored the yellow of sand that pooled warmth. The two dragons had walked close enough that their tails knocked against each other when they swayed, and the next time Kuroo turns to make sure she isn't plucking sparrows out of the sky, he finds his dragon purring, blinking more rapidly than he's sure she's capable of. Kuroo was mortified, had to tug a little harder to pry her away from the male dragon, probably blushing when he sent an apologetic laugh to its rider; he'd never caught his name.
Kuroo laughs at the memory, and his dragon looks at him without turning her head. Kuroo wonders if she'll ever purr again. "Let's go?" Kuroo asks her.
She spreads her wings in a quick motion, and in the moment he's allowed, he wonders what it feels to bear a pair of wings, but she takes off going fast enough the wind stings Kuroo's eyes and he curses, heard by nobody.
She nears the poles, branded through each ring of age with every failure Kuroo's sensed through the knobs of his spine and the jut of his cheekbone, scaring him a little. She moves even faster, moving to the side of the pole as she approaches it. Through the rush of wind against his teeth and his hair, more troublesome than usual ("Why don't you do something about your hair?", "No matter what I do, I'm going to look retarded!", "Whatever you say, Kuro.") Kuroo really does appreciate the art behind flying.
Dragon riding felt like volleyball to Kuroo in more ways than one, when the appreciation for the jump of a heartbeat was hit or miss: either, the moment passes as if you've closed your eyes through the whole thing and you're only left with a cheap imagination of the thrill, or time fixates on something it wants you to notice, and you notice it, feeling a little otherworldly after.
Her sharp trill is something that startles Kuroo because he isn't bracing the rough blows of flat, sun-baked earth yet. She looks angry, hellbent on success, an inspirational look if worn on any other human face, baring the most vicious of her teeth as if she would ram into the pole and never let go until she's torn and twisted it from the clasps of the maiden earth. She would have been fiery, passionate, a Scorpio, like Kuroo, if she were a woman, but maybe Kuroo liked her better a dragon that headbutted all of his back when he wasn't paying attention.
She crosses through the first pole perfectly, the pole that's blessed with most of their successes, the first trial. She crosses through the second pole perfectly, too, and the third; Kuroo's beginning to wonder if their dumb luck is going to come with the ugliest bruise of them all, one that Kenma might laugh at instead of tutting. Kuroo grips the reins, and she pulls against them.
The end of her tail knocks against the fourth pole, and he can feel the tremors of it even when she's already beginning to bank to cross the fifth one. Kuroo leans forward, wishes for the best, asks for a miracle from a god with a jeweled ear to lend.
The fifth one impacts her hind leg and her tail, and Kuroo pulls on the reins hard enough she has to pull her head back as well. He commands her to stop, his voice sounding a bit too pinched from worrying. She huffs a loud noise, looks back at the two unconquered poles with spite that felt all too eerily human the way they reflected on the thin slits of her pupils.
Her wingbeats reverberate like horror, and Kuroo finally heeds the thundering of his heart. She lands two movements later, leaving Kuroo a little dizzy when he hops off of her, he almost stumbles over his own feet. Her hind leg, that rung the fifth pole, was stretched behind her as she shook the curling talons until the presumed ache goes away. When she steps towards Kuroo, he doesn't see a limp, pouring relief into the breaths of oxygen that rattles him like rain in the monsoons.
"Good job," he tells her, reaching to a spot to the side of her chin. Kuroo remembers learning about the parts of a dragon that felt satisfying to rub, equivalent to the butterfly kisses described only in the most intimate of partings. He'd learned about it from older dragon riders, girls unafraid to track their thighs with mud as they worked through rainy days, hair pulled back in suffocating ponytails and dressed in short shorts; from older men that always held their hands behind their backs, talked to Kuroo like he was about to do wrong. It's hard to think of a time he was afraid of her, and she was of him, when now, he stands close enough she could use all her methods to run his blood on the dirt and devour him for a sating supper.
"We'll get it soon," he offers. She grunts like a stubborn friend, like one of Kuroo's stubborn friends that he's sure he has (maybe he was the stubborn friend?) "You hungry?"
Her eyes widen with delight and it makes Kuroo chuckle. He places his hands on her jaw, an example of the most intimate of touches communicated primarily by humankind, pulling off her bridle as she bows her head and closes her eyes. It grows darker around them, providing only the circles of reaching light from lamps hung on trees, built upon naked earth, yet her scales, the color of swamp water, still shine as if the morning light played childhood games on them.
Kuroo tucks the saddle, the reins and the bridle under his armpit and he walks ahead without ever turning back, knowing she isn't going to fly away to roar mournfully at the moon. They leave the lamps in loneliness, the stirring insects to chase each other until their deaths, the supernatural to make an appearance, maybe frighten a lost rookie for Kuroo to eavesdrop on the next day as he laughs into his lunch.
They talk a walk to the feeding troughs and Kuroo stops at the invisible line where the smell of butchered meat is strong enough he gags more than he breathes. His dragon on the other hand, walks right ahead, joining another one, the color of dark stones by the flow of a humming stream.
There's another rider with Kuroo, leaning against nothing, arms crossed on his chest, free of the riding tack, making the ones Kuroo's holding feel so much heavier. Kuroo recognizes the rider instantly, hair miraculously well-kept despite the aggravated winds, as if the element worshiped him; eyes the color of the purest chocolate and skin so fair for somebody who flies as stupidly often as Kuroo does.
"Oikawa Tooru," Kuroo says before he can even think. It certainly grabs his attention, because he has Oikawa Tooru arching an eyebrow at him as if he's got a million things better to do.
"You're Kuroo Tetsurou, the one the girls always gush about in the hallways like they think nobody can hear. And I," Oikawa pauses, looking Kuroo up and down and blinking, as if deleting his action, "I can understand why."
Kuroo doesn't know what Oikawa could have possibly meant by the last bit of his sentence, and he doesn't want to ask why. "Uh, thanks?"
"Don't mention it."
In the silence, Kuroo watches as his dragon rears her head, swallowing a bit of meat he doesn't even want to think which animal comes from. Her lips were red, and he'll be looking at the faded hues at the tips of her teeth in the next morning. She dips her head, as if vacuumed by the meat, and he flexes his fingers for every time he hears the sound of bones crunching.
There was a growl, a hiss, a low roar. Kuroo drops the tack, cares no more for it as he runs to his dragon, who has her head retracted, hissing at Oikawa's bigger, more powerful one. Oikawa runs to his dragon, too. Hands on their muzzles, they push the aggravated dragons away from each other, one deeply-set footprint in the loose earth at a time.
Kuroo knows she's going to obey him, hushing her gently until she's calm enough to raise her head again. Neither of them return to their food troughs and when Kuroo looks, the last pieces of meat cling to the wood are in portions too tiny to feel satisfying. His dragon licks her lips a few times, doesn't look at Oikawa's dragon.
"I'm sorry about that," Kuroo calls out.
"I am too," Oikawa responds, "he lashes out when unfamiliar things come too close, it's the worst when he's eating."
"S'why you came here so late?" Oikawa simply nods, Kuroo understands.
Kuroo sees Oikawa the next day, and they both smile pleasantly. Kuroo remembers to put the tack away first. Oikawa's dragon doesn't lash at Kuroo's, perhaps because Kuroo's dragon has learned not to reach too far.
"Perhaps I'll see you a third time tomorrow, Tetsu-chan," Oikawa tells him that night when he was four footsteps away from leaving. Kuroo hears Oikawa's dragon huff into the air, swishing his tail as they exit, a charm she doesn't purr at, and Kuroo laughs silently to himself, shoulders shaking as he realizes she was about as womanly as a dragon could ever come to be.

Can we also talk about how Bakugou went from "weird haired guy" to "Kirishima. Change of plans". Oh man I didn't realize how much I missed the anime *cries*
BOI CAN’T WE I just spent the whole morning crying over seeing the moment Bakugou recognizes Kirishima as an equal animated nbd at all r i p me - I think this might be the first time Bakugou calls anyone by their name, actually, and I just!!! that’s because Bakugou heard Kirishima’s words and recognized him as a good partner and a worthy hero and someone whom he could respect and I’m gonna be grateful for chapter 133 for the insight on this for the rest of my always I !!!!!! have feelings g a h
Anon said:ok ok ok ok but but listen what about BAKGOU AND OCHAKO they are the most popular couple and the most cutest , i think you should try to draw them once i would love love to see this !!! of course just if you want hehe thanx
Ahhh sorry anon but I really don’t ship that - I mean, it’s true that I ship Bakugou with a bunch of people aside from my main two, but if they’re part of Deku’s group you can fairly assume they’re not between my Bakugou ships? And I only romantically ship Uraraka with Deku, Tsuyu and Iida anyway so! You’re probably not gonna see any romantic baku/ocha from me, sorry o
Anon said:Since we know what Bakugou’s parents are like, what do you think Kirishima’s parents are like?
I have a similar ask somewhere asking about Kaminari’s parents as well, so I guess I’ll answer both here?? As a general rule I don’t really like making headcanons over stuff I’m sure the manga will give me in the future, so I can’t say I’ve thought about this too much - there are a few things I work under the assumption of while drawing, like for example I’m taking for granted they both have at least functional families, considering Aizawa personally visited their homes to ask their guardians about allowing them back to school, and if anything had been weird he would have noticed
I like to think Kaminari got his quirk straight from one of his two parents with no mixing happening, and got the Kaminari surname from them as well, but that’s all I ever allowed myself to settle on as far as Kami’s family goes, everything else changes based on what I need for the current scenario I’m thinking about… I do often end back on him being an only child, though - in the same way depending on how angst or lighthearted I want it to be my ideas for Kirishima’s family change a lot, but generally I think I mostly fall back on the idea of him having a big family? In a scenario like that his parents are kind and love him a lot, but having many children and needing to split their attention on all of them might cause them to overlook him a little (it would explain his obsession with being flashy, for me) then again, who knows? I don’t know how canon you can consider the infos SMASH gives, but in one of the strips Kiri mentions working part-time, and the fact that he doesn’t seem to have problems with money kinda makes me believe he might be independent from his family like that (unless he’s a rich kid, also very entertaining as a possiblity)
I’ve seen a lot of headcanons floating around about both of these guys’ families and possibly being related to villains, that would be cool too, though I’m not sure how much I believe it
I’m sorry this ended up being little to no useful at all lol as I said, I just shift between scenarios a lot - imagine settling on one and growing attached and then having to let it go once Hori proves it wrong, that’d be terrible for me
Anon said:Oh my god…we had a black cat called nitro !! He was super affectionate and high strung. Thanks for reminding me of him. great art as always !!!
You’re!!! the second person telling me they have/had a cat called that!!!! °O° is it a popular name for cats? I just called her that for Baku’s quirk tbh hahaha
Anon said:I would L.O.V.E to do a BNHA art collab with you my lord!
BOI THAT’S FLATTERING!!!!!! I’ve never done collabs before though, so I dunno if I’m comfortable with this? I’ll !!! have to think about it!
Anon said:Not only is your art adorable but how much you babble on in the tags is absolutely precious, you’re like a sunshine who always brightens up the day just by being yourself!
Way to make me blush anon oh my g o d!!!!!! I’m??? glad I can make you smile with my incoherent blabbering??? It’s super nice to know because tbh I just have way too much to say about everything hahaha (read: I dunno how to shut up. ever. rip)
Anon said:I just wanted to say your asks posts and doodles and literally just your whole blog in general brightens up my day so much no matter how sucky it’s been. I had a rough day today but the first thing I saw when I got on tumblr was one of your bakugou drawings and it made me smile when nothing else that day did and I just wanted you to know that. Also you seem like one of the most honest and heartwarming people ever. I hope you have a good weekend. ❤️
gODS what’s up with you guys trying so hard to make me a smiling and blushing mess here aaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! thank?? you???? I’m really, really, really happy I could make you smile!!! That’s the reason why I post my stuff to begin with, knowing I could help you even just a little bit means a lot!!!
Anon said:I’m really sorry if I reposted anything!!!!! Its truly out of habit….😌 But really, I’m sorry. (By the way, your art is amazing!!)
Thank you!! And as long as you took down whatever you reposted, your apology is more than accepted! Thank you for being understanding! But that kind of habit is something you should really grow out of, anon - for most artists, if they wanted their art on other websites they would post it themselves, and as long as it’s about sharing it here on tumblr a reblog is more than good enough! It’s nice of you to want to share my things, and I’m happy you like my stuff enough to want more people to see it, but since I don’t have accounts anywhere else on the internet I don’t really want my stuff there either - a link back to the original post would suffice if all you want is share, wouldn’t it?
About this, thank you so much to all the super nice people telling me they’re sorry about my stuff being reposted! There’s a lot of you and posting all the asks here would make this post insanely long, but know that I read all of them and I appreciate every word! To those mentioning they do tell people to take my stuff down when they notice it being reposted, thank you so so so so much, and to those worrying I might stop posting, for now that’s still not going to happen - I might reduce the amount of stuff I post for specific fandoms or ships, but I love it all too much and I love sharing my love for them too much to just stop. And thank you for all the nice words and compliments too, you’re all so kind to me !!!!
Anon said:I don’t know if you’re familiar with Dave and Buster’s (it’s a big arcade/restaurant for mainly adults) but I went the other day and all I could think about was “holy shit, Kuroo, Bokuto, and Terushima would have the time of their lives here” anyway, just thought I’d share that with you since I know you ship them as well cx
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we don’t have those in Italy so I can’t say I am, but this sounds interesting and if it’s bo kuro and teru I’m always up for hearing more! What kind of place is it? How does it work?? *O*
Anon said:Not a question or anything but I just found your blog and it is so nice??? Like all your art is amazing and you’ve made bakushimanari my ot3 and you bakusquad doodles are just perfect too. Just thank you for existing and your art and ideas just give me life. That’s all
THANK YOU OH MY GODS!!!!!!!!!! I’m so so so happy you like my squad stuff?? Lately they’re the most entertaining thing to draw tbh, I’m glad there’s actually people who like all the silliness hahaha I wish you the best weekend, anon, I know this ask just made mine, tbh!!
Anon said:LMAO when did Allen strip I don’t remember that
It’s in an extra! God I can’t remember what they were talking about so I can’t find it, I’ve been trying to since I got this ask (if??? anyone knows??? that’d be much appreciated???) but anyway they were hosting something? It might have been a character poll or something similar but I’m not sure, and Allen was The Host™ and at some point he started stripping and talking about added prices for it and if I remember right Reever and/or Johnny might have started crying for his forever lost and now non-existent innocence (was that a pun? possibly)
Anon said:OMG!!! I get so excited every time I see you posted something and now you just !!! uploaded !!!! all !!!! these !!!! BAKUGOU !!!! BIRTHDAY !!!!! COMICS !!!! AND !!!! I !!!!! AM !!!!! SO !!!! HAPPY !!!!!! (and they are all so adorable!!)
I’M GLAD YOU LIKED THEM HOLY SMOKES!!!!!!! Every time I post so much all together I always worry it’s too much haha I’m sorry for clogging all your dashboards now and again rip
Anon said:I was so excited this chapter of bnha because I thought we’d finally learn Kirishima, my babies, backstory but then we didn’t and now I’m sad (im still holding out for him having met/seen Bakugou in middle school for some reason and being inspired or something).
That’s tbh a good headcanon I’ve seen around now and again, and until Horikoshi will finally stop holding back all the Kiri infos you!!! keep on doing your thing!!!! he for sure already knew of him because everyone did thanks to the sludge incident, so why the heck not
(I can’t say I share the hc though, since until they fought together during the USJ attack Kirishima did think of Bakugou’s quirk as Everything He Ever Wanted™, but he didn’t seem to be much into Bakugou himself? I dunno I dunno Kiri’s very gay and got around to sticking to Bakugou like glue in something like fifteen chapters I can’t say we saw much of how he used to think of him before deciding he wanted to marry him lmao)
Anon said:I love Kirishima so much it’s genuinely confusing, like this boy is literally sunshine and I want him to be happy with his explody bf. The latest chapters gave me life because he is shining and I want the world to love him like I love him. Your art of him is beautiful and the best thing ever.
BOY THANK YOU!!!! I’m glad I can do him justice in your opinion? He’s SO MUCH and SO BRIGHT !!!!!!!!!! It’s kind of hard, making him just as good as he is in canon, but that’s cause he’s perfect how is he that perfect how does he even do that I 100% share all of your confusion anon when did I even fall this hard for that child
Anon said:I’m most into the voltron fandom tonight so if I followed every blog that was suggested I would be burried in more discourse than I can handle lmao so I will just try to dig through tags to find weeks
……that’s really one messy fandom you decided to stick with, anon, I admire your strength - but!!! as far as ship weeks go, since the voltron fandom is pretty huge maybe there might be a blog dedicated specifically to letting you know when fandom events are supposed to happen! You should try digging around for that!!!

What about kuroo going out to eat with his team but while he's eating he finds out the restaurant offers "bottomless fries" and he kinda goes off the deep end and winds up with an unintentional stuffed and aching belly

A University Story
It was the start of a new academic year, and there were new faces on campus. Fresh-faced students eager to fill the lecture halls and learn, make friends, and have a good time. And having a good time included exchanging all gossip that trickled down to them via the gossip ladder. There was always someone who had very good connections with upperclassmen, and that person always seemed to know all about everyone. It was advantageous, then, to be friends with that person. Or with someone who was friends with that person. After all, what is life without the excitement of knowing things about the personal lives of others.
One of the freshest and most exciting bits of gossip floating around was that there had been newly hired professors at the school, some of whom were quite young. And of course, with the promise of relative youth, there came a hope for something else.
“I hope the prof is hot,” said one student to another, and several others agreed.
“I’ve heard the new chemistry prof is really hot and also young,” another student piped up. “I hope I’m in his section. It’ll be a reason to go to class.”
“Which one? Dr. Kuroo? I’ve heard the same about him. I can’t wait for lecture. Only reason I’m looking forward to chem, honestly.”
“I heard he’s married, though.”
“I heard he was single.”
“I hope so.”
“No, I’m pretty sure he’s married.”
“Yeah, and how do you know?”
“I saw him walking from the parking lot with his wife. She’s a prof in the department of pharmacology, and she was also hired at the same time as him.”
“Damn. I hope you’re wrong about it though.”
“Don’t we all.”
And so the gossip and the rumours flourished as the days passed and the first day of classes approached. The university had never seen this level of enthusiasm for a first year chemistry course. When the day came for the first lecture, every single seat in the lecture hall was filled, with the women vastly outnumbering the men, when Kuroo walked in.
He looked at the class, and beamed. “Welcome to Chemistry 101, everyone. I’m Tetsurou Kuroo, and I’ll be your instructor this term. I’ll answer to pretty much anything you want to call me, as long as it is not unprofessional.”
He was pleased with the attendance for his class, even though he hadn’t expected this large of a divide between men and women despite having been warned by the course coordinator. It would be an interesting story to share later.
Since it was the first lecture, he went through the course outline in detail, and started on a review of what his students should have already covered in high school.
“Does anyone have any questions before we end for the day?” he asked the class five minutes before the class was scheduled to end.
There was a beat of silence, and then a hand shot up. It was a cheeky looking student with a cheeky smile on her face. “Hi Dr. Kuroo. Are you single?”
“Ah,” Kuroo said. He was a little surprised that a student would ask that question so boldly in a full lecture hall. He could see several people lean forward in their seats in anticipation of the answer. “When I asked if anyone had any questions, I meant questions related to the course content. But just this once, I will entertain this question. I am not, in fact, single. And I will not be answering any more personal questions in class or during office hours. I would like to be your friend, but we have to remember that this is a professional setting.”
Having suitably responded to the nosy question, he told the class to have a nice day, and then headed to the computer science building. Since the fastest way to get to the computer science building was through the medical sciences building, that was what he chose, and found himself running into Shimizu.
“Oh, hello,” she said with a small wave. “Lunch?”
“Yup,” he answered. “Just had my first lecture. It went as well as it could have, really. Now it’s time to eat.”
“Are you done for the day, then?”
“I have to sit in my office and answer a few emails. I doubt any students will show up since it’s only the first day of class, but I have to be there anyway, just in case. No meetings today, so it’s going to be pretty boring. How about you?”
“I have my lecture in an hour, and then I get to take off for the day. We should get lunch together at some point,” she suggested.
“Sounds great,” Kuroo agreed. “Let me know when’s good for you.”
Shimizu nodded, and they headed their separate ways. The rest of his walk to the computer science building was uninterrupted, and soon he found himself in front of Kenma’s office. He knocked.
“Come in,” Kenma’s quiet voice answered. “Oh, it’s you.”
“I’d think you’d be more pleased to see me, everything considered. I’m hurt, Kenma,” Kuroo said, entering the office. He placed a lunchbox on the desk. “Here’s your lunch.”
“Oh, I didn’t realize I forgot it,” Kenma said. “Thank you. How was class?”
“It was pretty good, all things considered. One of the students asked me if I was single at the end of class.”
Kenma raised his eyebrows. “What did you say?”
“That I’m not, and that I wouldn’t entertain any more personal questions. So hopefully that doesn’t happen again. Are you ready for your lecture?”
“Yeah. It should be fine. It’s just an intro lecture, and I’ve got my material ready.”
“That’s good.”
“Did you hear about that girl in chem 101 who asked the prof if he was single?”
“For real? What did the prof say?”
“He answered the question, but also told us not to ask more personal questions.”
“Probably a good idea. What was his answer though?”
“He’s not single.”
“To be expected, I guess. But sad. So do we know if he’s actually with one of the other profs?”
“Bets are on Dr. Shimizu from pharmacology still. I saw them talking in the hallway.”
“They could just have been…talking, you know? Like colleagues do.”
“Yes, but they’re in completely different departments.”
“True.”
“But there’s more investigation to be done.”
“Shimizu invited us for dinner with her. Are you good with tomorrow evening after work?” Kuroo asked Kenma a week later. The lunch plans had turned to dinner plans, since Shimizu was dealing with problems with how her course was being run.
“Ah,” Kenma said. “I have a meeting with my teaching assistants tomorrow evening. You two can go ahead without me.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah, I’ll join some other time.”
“Okay, I’ll let her know then.”
 “It’s for sure Dr. Shimizu.”
“Hmm?”
“That Dr. Kuroo is married to. Someone saw them having dinner at a restaurant downtown.”
“Oh. Interesting.”
“Knock knock,” Kuroo said, knocking on Kenma’s office door.
“Come in, Kuro,” Kenma answered, sounding fondly exasperated.
“Here’s your coffee,” Kuroo said, plopping down the coffee on Kenma’s desk.
“Thanks. I needed that. There’s so many kids coming to my office hours. I don’t even know why. It’s only been two weeks.”
“It’s because they love you,” Kuroo said. He opened his mouth again, but Kenma interrupted him.
“Don’t say it.”
“Awww,” Kuroo said, but complied. “I should get back to my office. I have a meeting with a student soon.”
“Dr. Kuroo spends a suspicious amount of time with that compsci prof.”
“Which one?”
“The new one.”
“What’s suspicious about it?”
“I’ve seen them have lunch together, get coffee, and sometimes they even leave together. I park in the same lot as Dr. Kuroo, and I’ve seen them get in the same car multiple times.”
“Aren’t you being a little too nosy?”
“Yes, but what if he’s cheating on Dr. Shimizu with the compsci prof?”
“That’s quite the accusation. And we don’t even know for sure that he and Dr. Shimizu are married.”
“Yes, but I’m pretty sure they are.”
“I sat in on a compsci lecture with my friend, and the prof dropped something. Guess what it was?”
“I don’t know. Tell me.”
“It was a wedding ring! On a chain. It must’ve not been clasped properly. But it was most definitely a wedding ring.”
“So he’s married. What’s your point?”
“That means, if he and Dr. Kuroo are having an affair, they’re both cheating on their spouses.”
“You picked a really nice restaurant,” Kenma said, looking around at the place Kuroo had chosen for the night.
“Thanks. The food is supposed to be really good, so I hope it lives up to the hype.”
“I’m sure it will.”
“Don’t worry, I also baked apple pie for later.”
Kenma smiled. “Excellent.”
They ordered their food, and chatted about various things as they waited. When the server showed up with the food and placed it in front of them, she didn’t leave right away. In fact, she looked like she had something to say to them. Kuroo looked up at her.
“Is something wrong?”
“I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but I feel like I can’t not say something.”
“Okay?” Kuroo said, exchanging a confused glance with Kenma. “What is this about?”
“I’m in your chemistry class, and this is very inappropriate, sir!” the server said, gesturing vaguely.
“I’m sorry? I don’t think I understand. What’s inappropriate?” Kuroo asked, even more confused.
“Cheating on your spouse!” the server said, looking distressed.
Kuroo was taken aback. “Excuse me?”
“You’re both married!”
“Yes,” said Kuroo slowly. “We are.”
“But you’re on a date with each other,” the server said.
“Yes,” Kuroo said.
The server flailed again, as if they should see what the problem was. “But you’re both married!”
“Yes,” Kenma spoke up. “To each other.”
The server blinked. “What?”
“I think there’s been a misunderstanding,” Kuroo said. “We’re here to celebrate our wedding anniversary.”
The server turned red with embarrassment. “I’m so sorry. I’ll leave you to your dinner. Happy anniversary.” With that, she walked away as quickly as possible without actually running away. Kuroo had a feeling that they would have a different server for the rest of their meal.
“That was something,” Kenma said.
“It certainly was. It’ll be quite the story to tell people,” Kuroo laughed. “Happy anniversary, Kenma.”
