More Spamton Character Discussion

On spamton and kindness, I think he would 100% accept anything anyone gives him. But! He wouldn't accept it bc he truly wanted to be friends, he would accept it because he thinks said person is an easy mark. He does plainly ask for help sometimes, but I think he thinks anyone answering would be a sucker. He believes that people only help because they're too gullible to know when they're being scammed. (That's one reason the NEO fight really hurts me bc he seems to realize that kris was actually being kind to him bc they wanted to not bc they were gullible. It was a real flowey moment, realizing that it isn't just scam or be scammed. ((Or literally kill or be killed)). Spamton is a more nuanced flowey imo lol. Hes someone with a flowey mindset but because he's been kicked down so much not bc he doesn't have a soul; when he's shown actual help and kindness he literally lights up.)

Spamton talks about having no control, but in his deal he doesnt let you progress in his fight unless you answer in the way he wants you to. You have to meet him on his terms only. I think everything always being about him and what he wants is a key component of him (at least pre NEO).

I like to think that he calls Kris a friend because he's buttering them up. He thinks they understand being lonely, but also he thinks he can get something from them and is trying to scam them. I personally think he would let people touch him too, but only if they paid him. Since he does comment on being beat up but wanting money for it lol. He wouldn’t really take any of those things to heart bc to him they’d just be business. (As an aside, on spamton and kromer I think its a compulsion for him to want it. I think personally he doesn't really want it, but because he is a spam email he wants it instinctively. I do think he doesn't really want it personally though, but he understands that's the only way to get lightners to engage with him and its his thing, so its important to him. Its like a tool to him. I say this bc he seems to get excited when you can almost buy something from his shop but miss the window. He knows the interesting part of money is the gambling part.)

I would say pre NEO everything spamton does would be very selfish. Everything would be for his goal of freedom and becoming NEO and getting to heaven.

I do think spamton could accidentally become sentimental though lol. He seems like the kind of guy that almost buys into his own snake oil and would get lost along the way and almost forget what he was doing.

I think he believes his scams are wrong though, but he doesn't know any other way to get what he wants. Thats why hes such a great character imo. At the end of the NEO fight he makes it clear he understood that his scams weren't right. But all he wanted was to be free and he was desperate so he was accepting them as necessary evils. Spamton clearly has morals, but often chooses the selfish thing because he's just that desperate. He doesn't have anything left, so he does them anyway. He does seem to care though and he seems to be aware of his actions being wrong. Id say you'd only get real genuineness out of spamton after NEO. Spamton giving himself up to help someone else really was an incredible character moment. All of his actions up to it were selfish. I so hope we get to see him again someday. I would like to just see him without him being so desperate. Im okay with him being a little jerk still lol, he just deserves to have some peace.
