being the girlfriend of the strongest ability user in the world and a mafia executive had perks. for sure. even more so if you're in the port mafia too!!

yeah, there were other young and dumb couples in the port mafia but you and mr. nakahara are the couple. the older members of the mafia tend to forget you are both in your early twenties too.

it wasn't just your expensive taste that made the others admire your relationship. yes everyone wished they had too much money to handle, yet it was more the way you treated eachother.

everyone knew of you dating him because of how proudly he would brag about you. koyo hearing most of it, how you went on a date to japan's finest restaurant.. picking out future dog names.. choosing dresses and suits for each other.. everything!

not just koyo heard it though, everyone knew of your relationship since before you both even knew you liked each other. celebratory parties had the two of you talking a lot more than usual, how both of you would go to mori without the other knowing to ask to be partnered for a mission, how you both had nicknames for one another before confessing..

everyone had seen it but the two of you!

but despite all of this, everyone commended the way you were private - but not a secret. yes, everyone could tell that your lipstick was smudged slightly on the side of your mouth, and his hat was slightly askew at the end of the day. but, you didn't tell the whole world about any bickering.

but, word spread like a wildfire when some poor soul had to confess to a mistake in paperwork to chuuya. the man walked into chuuya's office and saw framed photos of the two of you along the executive's desk. instantly reporting back to his colleagues, who then told others..

everything was confirmed when chuuya was hours late to be back from a dangerous mission and you snapped at mori out of stress. mori slyly remarking "i'm sure your boyfriend is fine. don't lose your temper."

and within the hour, everyone knew. executives even scolding their subordinates for gossiping like high schoolers.

after that day, seeing the two of you go to the other's office during breaks, holding hands under the table or sending loving looks to the other was not anything abnormal.

chuuya already cared about others but had a temper, so to soften the blow of whatever mistake someone had made they would bring you into the room with them..

all in all, your relationship helped everyone - aside from the teasing from a former mafia executive. but other than that? happy days!

oh drunk clingy chuuya my roman empire ( while writing this I realised gradually that i was not at all prepared to write this evening. oops. ) (( it's fine the post won't get far I think ))

it's just a port mafia party, some celebratory banquet for completing a rather large tradeoff mission. of course chuuya is the one that cracks open the fanciest bottle. the one with a few too many digits and zeros for any normal person to glance twice at. but he's always been an extravagant guy, and the more expensive it tastes the better quality it is. that's what he thinks, anyway.

he doesn't particularly bother trying to limit the glasses he intakes, why should he? koyo was staying sober, so was hirotsu, enough people that he'd be perfectly fine if anything severe happened. might as well enjoy the night as it lasts.

It's when his vision starts to blur that the first problem arises. his movements are more staggered as he struggles to keep his balance - and he lets out an almost embarassingly high pitched whine of frustration to avoid when koyo reaches out a hand to try and help stabilise him.

chuuyas knees hit the ground, a few heads turn, but its nothing too interesting. the executive had been known for not bring able to handle his alcohol too well, after all. It's when koyo leans down to help him up, and her hand is slapped away - that more people have their eyes on the scene before them.

after all, nobody who'd responded to her with violence was treated kindly in the past.

but she knows different. chuuya wouldn't do that to her - the 15 year old she spent nights trying to teach basic table manners wouldn't hit her with aggression in mind. so it had to be something else.

she let's out a gentle sigh as she calls your cell. if anyone had noticed how chuuya has a painful softspot for you, it was her. if anyone could help with a situation like this, it'd be you.

the conversation doesn't last long. a simple polite request for you to come pick him up, to see if he'll let you pick him up. and when you arrive, he obviously sees you before you spot him, a slurred whiny call of your name cutting through the crowd. one that'd have a sober chuuya breaking brick walls with his skull to forget about it.

you move over to him, listening to his unintelligible blabbers as he clings to your leg. the gentle sobs as he nuzzles into the fabric of the trousers you'd lazily thrown on. the whimpers of "I missed you s'much.." "where were you?.." "my pretty thing.."

it takes a moment to get him onto his feet again, feeling his full weight lean into you as you do so. you call a thanks to koyo, hearing her gentle giggle as you lug your boyfriend out of the party. a response of "good luck with him!" rings past the music on the speakers.

getting him home was an effort. dragging him into bed with his entire damn weight on you should've got you an olympics medal. but seeing his hazy eyes search for you, a blubber of your name as he spots you. and those gloved hands reaching like you're the only thing he'll ever need in life. it's hard to stay mad.

you settle beside him in bed, letting him wrap around you like a koala. chosing to not comment on the smell of his breath as he whispers love to you for the simplest things. he's always been sweet to you like that.

you feel the way his hands still as he drifts to sleep. from idly fiddling with your clothes to completely stone on your side. listening to the way his breathing relaxes. he felt so safe around you. it'd always been you. that's how he liked it.

He treats you like how he does Gin, there is peace between the two of you and you have friendly interactions. (Romantic as well, for you) he will even go as far as to do favors for you but we’ll dabble in that more later ☆)

acts of service is his #1 love language. There’s no convincing me otherwise. When I say ‘he will do anything for you’ besides killing this is what I mean. You really don’t have to ask either. I talk about this some more later but, examples: done with your plate? He’ll take it. He remembers you said you needed xyz, he got it for you. You said you wanted to ____ but you fell asleep, so he did it.

hope you get along with Gin because to continue a relationship with him past 2 minutes, you need to. He will never choose friends over family. I stand on that.

Edogawa Ranpo

Of the three, Ranpo is far and away the smartest, in both intellect and emotional intelligence. It's very unlikely you can hide how you feel about him missing your birthday from him - even if you haven't been dating Ranpo for long, if you're his s/o, he knows you. He can read your mood like a 3-D pop-up book. It's disconcerting but also oddly comforting.

It is very unlikely he forgot your birthday - it's more probably that he was doing a job for the Armed Detective Agency and got so wrapped up in it that he temporarily set aside everything else until it was finished. When Ranpo is chasing an interesting case it's nigh on impossible to get him to focus on anything else.

Once his hyperfixation ends, though, he does feel a little guilty. You ARE the s/o to the World's Greatest Detective, after all, so logically that means you ought to be celebrated! He gets right to it, roping in poor hapless Atsushi and other members of the Agency into decorating the office for your birthday. Of course he knows what gift you want (and probably makes Atsushi, Kunikida or someone go out and actually buy it. What? He'd get lost if he had to take the train to the mall!) He still takes credit when you praise him for being so thoughtful.

Ranpo tends to be a little lazy and spoiled, but for you, on your special day, he very nobly puts that aside to spoil you for a change. You wanna go do something fun like visit an amusement park or go to a concert? Great! He'll have Fukuzawa pay for tickets! You want to do something more lowkey, maybe chilling at home cuddling and watching movies with him? Awesome, he'll get popcorn! You wanna go out partying and getting shitfaced? Well…he's not much of a drinker, but he'll still come with to dance with you and hold your hair back when you puke. (He'll make Fukuzawa come pick your drunk ass up.)

And don't forget a long, long night of some truly incredible oral - Ranpo's best asset in the bedroom is that tongue of his, so he's going to go to town on you~

Remember to lavish him with praise over what a great boyfriend he is. He needs the validation, okay?

Nakahara Chuuya

With Chuuya he was probably doing a mission for Mori and simply didn't have time to be there or he did forget. His way of making it up to you is simple - gifts. Chuuya is very wealthy thanks to being a high-ranking Port Mafia agent, so whatever you want is yours. That new Prada bag? Done. You want a spa day with all the works? Already booked. Fanciest resturaunt in town? He can just waltz in and get a table whenever he wants.

This may sound all fine and great, but Chuuya may not immediately notice how you're feeling about him missing your birthday - he'll apologise but in a "Oops, sorry, babe!" kind of way and you'll have to be upfront with him if you're actually upset. Chuuya does have a bit of a bad habit of buying your affection when he's too busy to spend time with you, because he's used to people depending on him and being seen as a provider. If you like gift-giving as a love language then you might not consider this an issue, but he does somewhat use his money to assuage feeling guilty and avoid discussing it because he doesn't like seeing you upset.

Also, Chuuya has no memories of before he was seven years old and I doubt very much he got to celebrate his birthdays much when he was running around Suribachi with the Sheep. Sure, he can afford to go ham for his birthday now, and his subordinates gives him gifts (Koyo always buys him wine), but he might not quite grasp the emotional significance of birthdays. Sit him down and explain to him that you appreciate the gifts, but you want him, YOUR BOYFRIEND to be with you, not a credit card.

To make it up to you, Chuuya will give you a birthday fuck that goes on all night. If you have a position or kink you haven't got around to requesting from Chuuya, now's the time, because he intends to make you feel so good you can barely walk the next day.

Akutagawa Ryuunosuke

I'm gonna be honest, Akutagawa is not particularly understanding or sympathetic. At least, not right away.

He grew up in the slums with his kid sister, surviving off scraps and learning to fight from a very young age. Akutagawa likely had no concept of what a 'birthday' even was except just being another year he's managed to survive in the hellhole he was born into. Even now he's an adult and can afford to do whatever he wants to celebrate if he so chooses, he's not a very birthday person. He always buys a gift for Gin and will get something for his superiors as a token of respect (because it's expected of him), and he'll begrudgingly tell Higuchi "happy birthday", but overall he doesn't consider them that important. He does appreciate being given gifts, but doesn't think of them as a necessity.

So if you get upset or angry with him, he's liable to bite back at first. Akutagawa has trouble apologising because he was never apologised to when he was treated poorly, so he's generally not good at owning up to his mistakes. Like Chuuya, you need to explain to him that even if he doesn't place much importance on birthdays, you do and it hurts you that he doesn't seem to care.

That will get to him. For as grumpy and quick to violence as he is, he does care about his s/o greatly and he doesn't want to lose you. He doesn't even know why you love him in the first place, but he isn't willing to throw your whole relationship away over something trivial like this. So, he'll treat you to whatever you want. He's got the money to really spoil you and he doesn't take much time off, so he'll be able to free up his schedule. (Gin will also remind him next time or help him set up a reminder on his phone so he doesn't miss it in future.)

Try not to force him to come clubbing or some other loud, crowded activity. He won't refuse because he feels bad, but he'll ruin the mood by brooding in the corner like a wilting plant and he gets overstimulated and grouchy quite quickly. But he doesn't mind treating you to a posh meal or going on a holiday or something like that.

I hope you don't mind being tied up, because once somebody explains to Akutagawa the concept of birthday sex, he will go find you immediately and use Rashomon to hold you still for hours while he works you over - that's one birthday tradition he doesn't consider frivolous~

Tormenting Chuuya with Situations #1

Summary: Inspired by the Cyberpunk Edgerunners scene in EP 3 at the party thing, Chuuya finds you.

Some background: Working on a fic with a mercenary reader who gets wound up in the PM... unwillingly. Just imagine having a huge disdain for the PM for now.

Story

At a little plaza in some random corner of the city, there was a small party going on. Drinks were shared and loud music blasted in the air. A party of outlaws. Gangsters, mercenaries, thieves, and all those unruly folks gathered here. The Guild is defeated and Yokohama was saved.

(Name) grabbed a drink and sat on top of the hood of their sports car. They gazed at the party. Dancers with the "DJ", some people showing off whatever assets or tricks, and the friend groups that stuck together chilling in their seats.

Chuuya came to the party in search of (Name). He cringed at the music blasting into his ears. To him, this party was too wild for his tastes. No formalities. Just unorganized celebration.

He spots (Name) sitting atop of their sports car. They were drinking alone until some guy approached her. He narrowed his eyes and recognized him... those bandages on his arms and neck... Dazai... He grits his teeth and lets out an annoyed sigh. Just as he wanted to step in, his phone rang. He stepped away to a quieter corner. The music was still loud but it was just enough for him to listen on the other end. Plus he still has (Name) and Dazai in his peripheral vision.

"Hello?" He answered as he leaned against the wall.

"Chuuya, where did you go?" Asked a female's voice. It was soothing and definitely Koyo's.

Chuuya stuck his other hand in his pocket. "Looking for (Name). They went off again," he sighed.

"Again? A leash doesn't stop them huh?" She asked.

"Nope but I got eyes on them," Chuuya replied as he glanced over to them.

Koyo hummed. "Off partying with those street dogs. I can hear the music."

"Yeah." Chuuya's eyes darkened when he saw them laughing.

"Well come back quickly. We have to celebrate our own victory," She says. "In a much more pleasant manner."

"Yeah, I'll get back as soon as I get (Name)," He nods.

"Then I'll see you soon."

"See you, big sis."

Chuuya hung up and closed his phone. He looked back to the car, only to see Dazai and (Name) missing. He clutched his phone tightly as his eyebrows furrowed. He has to get (Name) back before Dazai does anything funny. They shouldn't have gone off, let alone with his hated rival. It made him seethe at the thought of (Name) with Dazai.

And they couldn't have gone far. They were just in his sight earlier. Chuuya came to the car and collected himself along the way.

Ending 1

He could see them in the backseats still chatting. He scowled and knocked on the window which brought their attention. Dazai put his hand on (Name)'s shoulder and said something he couldn't hear. Then he stepped out of the car with a smug look.

"Well, well, who do we have here?" He said. "You interrupted our moment there."

"Like I care!" Chuuya raised his voice. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Having a chat~" Dazai replied nonchalantly. "And what are you doing here? This is no place for a fancy pants like you."

"I do what I please. I'm just here to take back someone," Chuuya grits his teeth.

"Well if it's them in the car, there's no way I'm letting you steal them," Dazai's grin widened.

"Don't get in my way," Chuuya growled.

Dazai was going to retort but (Name) came out of the car.

"Guys chill. Take your cat fight elsewhere," (Name) said with a sigh. They didn't want anymore trouble now that their supervisor was here. Angry like usual.

"(Name)!" Chuuya spoke up first.

"Ugh, you're here to take me back again," (Name) groaned and then turned to Dazai. "Sorry about that. But I have to get snatched away here."

Dazai raised his brow. "Huh... didn't think you'd be with the Port Mafia."

"Unfortunately," (Name) crossed their arms.

Chuuya and Dazai glared at each other for a moment, until Dazai spoke up.

"My condolences," Dazai puts his hand on his chest. "Call me if you ever want a double suicide with me," he says as he turned away to leave.

"As if," (Name) rolled their eyes.

Chuuya clenched his fists and lunged forward, but he was stopped by (Name).

"Cool it, Chuus. I don't want another issue on my plate," they warned.

Chuuya scoffed. "Fine, but we need to head back to base."

(Name) rolled their eyes with a groan. "Great..."

Ending 2

He couldn't see them in the car, nor around the area. His heart sped up and he began to search frantically. Chuuya couldn't find them within the party's premises.

He started to walk away. The music faded into the distance the more he got into the city. Chuuya was going to let (Name) get into their own sort of trouble. He had enough of their insubordination and was going to leave that to Mori or karma.

But then he heard soft moaning coming from a secluded alley. At first he was annoyed that some random couple is probably making out or going down and dirty. He let out a sigh to just glance, only to be struck with shock.

There they were, Dazai pinning them to the wall and making out. Rage boiled in him. He was so tempted to use his ability to stop this. Throw trash at them, use a dumpster to hit Dazai, or even drag (Name) away. But again... what's the point? It will only get them to seek each other out more. Plus he already decided to leave (Name) up to fate.

He tipped his hat lower to cover his eyes and never looked back.

Has learned how to be more properly Festive, in his perception of the word festive, so his wardrobe gets an upgrade. Also, he's told he's not allowed to attend the Chaldea Holiday Party in his normal Santa Getup. Da Vinci said something about how 'even Santas deserve a day off during the holidays', but she really just wanted him to not get Into It with Santa Quetz.

Would not wear something joke-themed or silly -- at least in his perception. This garment is obviously ridiculous, but he perceives it as proper holiday cheer and a work of art that he crafted himself.

Vlad (Lancer) would also wear ugly Christmas sweaters, but that's more dependent on the vibes of his Master, imo.

Hello, first time actually asking on this blog! (I’ve been scrolling through here for probably an hour by now since deciding to actually check it out finally. You guys are amazing, all the compliments to you.)

What are your thoughts on Chuuya’s relationship with Kouyou?

They obviously have a sort of mentor-mentee relationship, which eventually developes into something closer to colleagues, and I’m interested in how their dynamic has changed because of those “roles” they play in each others lifes.

Other than that, how do you think Kouyou has affected Chuuya over the years (behaviours, views on certain topics, ect.)?

It would be great if you could provide examples from the manga and light novels, because seeing things in canon really just solidifies them in my mind somehow.

Chuuya's relationship with Koyo started as a simple mentor-mentee dynamic, as you said. With Koyo not being that much older than Chuuya, there was less formality expected of Chuuya, although he provided it all the same. Their very first interaction that we see is on the way to a meeting that Koyo is bringing Chuuya along to, in order for him to gain some understanding of diplomacy and dealings within the mafia.

Chuuya has always learnt to deal with his problems using violence, and that is what Mori is trying to fix, by assigning Koyo to teach him the more delicate parts of being in the mafia. This also tells us that Koyo is a trusted figure in Mori's eyes, and that she is likely in charge of many diplomatic interactions within the mafia ad other companies, which is interesting considering her age, as she is only four years older than Chuuya, so during this scene she is 19.

The next time we see Koyo is in Stormbringer. While she only appears briefly, she helps in the attack against Verlaine, specifically saying this to Verlaine;

This line, whilst not clearly about Chuuya, seems to be a reprimand of Verlaine's attitude when it comes to Chuuya. I could go into how Verlaine's relationship with Chuuya and Koyo's relationship with Kyoka are parallels, but this scene boils down to the fact that Koyo has come to Chuuya's defence, and for her it's personal.

Bringing up Verlaine and Chuuya vs Koyo and Kyoka, another parallel I find interesting is that whilst the aforementioned relationships are strenuous and take tolls on all parties, Verlaine's relationship with Kyoka and Koyo's relationship with Chuuya seems to be exactly what the other was trying to achieve. Specifically; Verlaine was attempting to be a good older sibling, to protect Chuuya from what he thought was dangerous to him, but the one who has actually protected Chuuya here isn't Verlaine, but Koyo.

This year the christmas party was going to be different, there was no alcohol there was no big venue instead it was a small cozy christmas Elise had requested. You and Chuya are more than a little annoyed by this considering you both enjoyed a drink every now and then, with Chuya usually getting drunk long before you did.

Mori had you all setting up the party for Elise the day before, Chuya, Koyo, Higuchi and Kajii were all decorating the house while Mori played with Elise in the snow with Hirotsu watching for any potential threats. “Have you heard anything from (Y/N)?” Koyo asked as she looked at Chuya who was using his ability to hang ceiling decorations. “She’s still out getting ingredients for dinner.” Chuya answered. “Is it really a good idea to let her cook?” Koyo asked. “Who said that she was cooking, we asked her to go shopping, there are other people who can cook, I bet even Akutagawa would be a better choice.” Chuya explained. “I guess that’s true.” Koyo nodded as she looked out the window where Elise was playing. “Do you think they’re okay?” Higuchi asked as she continued with her work across the room, though she hadn’t actually decorated much far too worried about Akutagawa. “I’m sure they are fine.” Koyo answered. “What if they don’t get back before the storm?” Higuchi asked. “I think the storm should be afraid of them.” Chuya muttered as his eyes moved to the tree across the room, he frowned as he noticed the lemon like shapes scattered over the tree “Kajii tell me those aren’t what I think they are.” “I wanna know what happens to a christmas tree if you set off a bomb in it.” He answered. “I think we can all answer that question for you, it explodes.” Chuya said as he pinched the bridge of his nose. “Yeah but does it go flying or do all the little needles explode out?” Kajii asked. “Honestly I don’t know and I really don’t care.” Chuya answered, attempting to remove the bombs, quickly finding that he couldn’t reach the top of the 6ft tree. “Here.” Higuchi muttered as she pulled over the chair, Chuya glared at it before turning to Kajii. “Just get the bombs out of the tree.” Chuya ordered. “Damn you no fun.” Kajii complained as he moved to do as he was told.

You had been sent shopping with Tachihara, Akutagawa and Gin. Your eyes moved to the alcohol isle with a sad sigh as you mumbled to yourself about the stupid no drinking rule, your eyes moving around the crowd when you realise that the others had left you, your eyes falling on an angry Akutagawa across the way, you rushed over to defuse the situation assuming that it was just someone had bumped into him or something, however when you got closer you saw that it was Dazai and Atsushi he was yelling at. “Akutagawa! Don’t kill him, Mori will be so mad if he has to make a call to get us out of prison today.” You said as you appeared next to him. “Tch.” He pushed the noise through gritted teeth as he stood down. “There she is my knight in shining armour!” Dazai cheered as you looked at him. “What are the mafia doing here?” “We’re just getting ready for a christmas party.” You answered. “Party? Is that why you're wearing a skirt? You’ve always looked better in skirts.” Dazai teased. “You know that’s not really my style.” You waved him off and he smirked, Atsushi watched you both intently, quickly realising that you had to have been friends at some point to be able to joke like this. “We don’t have time for this.” Akutagawa muttered “we have to get out of here in time to miss the storm.” “What are you doing here?” You asked, looking at Dazai. “Kunikida and Sai are forcing everyone to get ready for a party as well. We were sent to go shopping.” Dazai explained and you nodded. “He’s just trying to run away from Kunikida.” Atsushi muttered and you gave a soft laugh. “Watch yourself weretiger.” Akutagawa warned. “Akutagawa calm down.” You ordered “How is Sai doing these days?” “He’s fine, he’s working with Yasano and he’s the one cooking today.” Dazai answered. “Thank you for looking after him.” You said just before hearing Kunikida yelling about something as he walked towards Dazai, he must have noticed that it was you because you both seemed to become serious at the same moment as you faced each other. “You two ran off, Dazai you shouldn’t drag Atsushi into all of your schemes and Atsushi you should not trust him.” Kunikida scolded them both. “Kunikida don’t be so dramatic, we were just shopping for the party!” Dazai whined Kunikida then looked over at you taking in your clothing, your face hardened as he launched into a lecture about you choice of clothing for the weather but had never really been one for confrontation centred around yourself so you grabbed Akutagawa and said your goodbyes before leaving without another word. “What happened?” Atsushi asked. “She doesn’t really argue with people, she never has.” Dazai answered as he watched you walk away, some things never change.

“Why didn’t you just kill him or let me kill him?” Akutagawa asked when he noticed you were clearly uncomfortable. “Dazai was still there, he would have nullified your Rashomon. There was no point.” You answered. “We can’t fight them in a place like this anyway.” “That’s an excuse.” He muttered. “There you are! We’ve got everything, come on, we just need you to pay.” Tachihara called, waving them over “where have you two been?” “Don’t worry about it.” You said as you walked over Gin who had started scanning all of the items that they had picked up, you didn’t actually look at the total instead grabbing you wallet from you back pocket opening it to find that you black card had disappeared, you grit your teeth as you pulled out cash to pay for everything with only one hope, that Dazai doesn’t max out your credit card again.

Back at the house the other were waiting for your group to get back Elise had come in from playing, excited by the decoration around the house, everyone had settled into a comfortable silence, with Higuchi trying to cal Akutagawa a few times, Kajii making bomb to show you when you got back and Elise having climbed onto the back of the sofa to play with Chuya’s hair and he and Koyo talked about christmas. “All done!” Elise cheered as they all looked at Chuya, Elise even passed him a small mirror so he could see. “Wow Elise!” Mori cheered as she raced over to him, Chuya continued to look at his hair for a second. “Do you want a hat?” Higuchi asked as she held up two christmas themed hats, neither one of them a style that he like, he grumbled as he waved her off before quieting at the sound of the wind picking up. “You think they’re okay?” “It’s just a storm, they’ve both been through worse, they’re fine.” Chuya answered, although he understood her unease, both you and Akutagawa had a talent for getting into trouble when doing the most mundane things. “Come you both know that they are going to be fine, there’s nothing to worry about.” Koyo said to them both with a smile. “They’re dangerous together.”

The storm was starting to pick up and you were starting to regret wearing a skirt “Are you guys okay? You need to stop for a second?” You asked, they all seemed okay and all confirmed that “well let me know if you need to stop.” It only took a few more minutes before Akutagawa collapsed. Gin fell back to pick him up carrying him. “Maybe we should stop.” Tachihara suggested and you were about to agree when Akutagawa spoke. “Just keep going, I'm fine.” He muttered, you thought for a second before taking the bags from the others. “I’ll carry these, I’ll lead the way, just make sure that you keep hold of each other incase anyone else falls.” You ordered, they all looked at each other for a moment but instead of arguing they decided to just do what you said in favour of getting home faster. The mood had gotten worse since the start of the trip and you decided that they needed a joke, though it seemed that everyone just groaned no matter what type of a joke you told, Tachihara had even scolded you telling you it was no time for joking that is until Gin laughed and you smiled. “Maybe Gin’s laugh is the good luck that we need light at the end of the tunnel, come on guys.”

Higuchi was beyond worried now, the storm was pretty much in full force as she looked towards the door ready to rush out “Don’t.” Chuya warned, leaning forward in time to touch her and use his ability to keep her in one spot. “I know you're worried but running out into the storm isn’t going to help anyone, you know they’re probably about to walk through that door.” Koyo said as if on cue the door opened and you appeared, covered in snow and carrying all of the bags, the others filing in after you, it was clear that you had used your body to shield the others on the way. Chuya made a note to get some medicine because there was no way that you didn’t end up sick after this. Chuya ushered them all to get changed as he started cooking with Higuchi and Koyo. They moved around the kitchen like well oiled machines. It was almost like they had been cooking together for years, they all helped each other and the food was almost done by the time the others were back downstairs after changing. Akutagawa and Gin were talking amongst themselves, Horitsu, Tachihara and Kajii were drinking hot drinks and having their own conversation and you had settled by the heater with your romance novel in your hand.

You glanced up from your novel to see Chuya gathering more drinks and decided to get up and help him, with you both in the kitchen and alone for the first time that day, you both took a moment “I got root beer, if we’re not allowed alcohol maybe we can just drink that later.” You suggested, Chuya nodded to himself as he looked at the rest of the group in the living room. “I don’t think it’ll be long before they start turning in for the night, so that’s not a bad idea.” He said “they are quite a handful, I need a break.” “What?” You asked. “Kajii tried to decorate with bombs and Higuchi has been trying to run out into the storm since it started. I’m surrounded by too many weird people.” He explained and you smiled. “Maybe we should let Kajii blow up this party, you won’t have to look after them then.” You suggested. “Don’t you dare.” He warned and you giggled. “I was joking.” You answered. “Chuya!” Koyo called from the kitchen as you finished handing out the drinks he headed back into the kitchen to help with the plating up and finishing touches.

After dinner Elise then ordered that everyone have an arm wrestling contest where you had easily beaten all competitors; the only people that hadn’t participated were Koyo, Mori, Q and Horitsu. The last to go against you was Chuya. You knew that this was going to be a challenge, you were no fool, you knew that Chuya was stronger than he looked and even with the endurance that you possessed it was going to be difficult. “You know that I’m not going to hold back.” Chuya informed you and you nodded as you put your arm forward ready to start the match, Chuya clasped your hand in his and you both waited Tachihara counted you both down before the match started, you were both even neither of you budging. “Are you feeling tired yet?” “No.” You answered with a small smile. “Are you?” “Not really.” He answered, you didn’t know if he was lying, he had always been good at hiding it. Whenever something like this happened before, Dazai would be the one to get him to reveal how he was truly feeling through teasing, it had been an hour since the match started and you were losing ground, it wasn’t much longer before Chuya was declared the winner and you moved off to the corner of the room to sulk.

After the present exchanges, everyone had turned in for the night or gone off to do their own thing, you had stayed in the living room with Chuya both of you with a root beer in hand as Chuya handed you a present that he bought you. “Here, a peace offering.” “Oh thank you.” You smiled as you took the present, opening it to see that it was a novel that you had been trying to get a hold of. “Where did you find this? I've been looking for this all over the place.” “I know, when I saw it I picked it up for you.” He explained as he leaned back in the chair that he was sitting in “thank you for my gift as well.” He tapped that hat that now sat on his head, which you had given him earlier even though you were mad at him. “Anything else happen while you were out?” “Nothing really, Dazai was at the supermarket but he didn’t do anything. It's fine.” You answered. “Nothing?” Chuya asked. “Well he stole my card.” You answered. “Cancel it.” Chuya ordered. “I will.” You nodded with a sigh at yet another card you’d have to cancel because of Dazai. “Do you two mind if I join?” Koyo asked as she walked over, you both shook your head as you all settled into comfortable conversation with you eventually falling asleep after the events of the day caught up with you.

Happy Birthday, Chuuya!

Chuuya pulls open the office door after adjusting his gloves. He had been called down for a new assignment.

Instead of seeing the usual space, the room was decorated with… bright streamers and balloons?

"Surprise! Happy birthday, Chuuya!"

The other executives (minus Verlaine), Mori, Elise, the command unit, and the Black Lizard were all inside the spacious area, spread out around the room, along with a couple of his subordinates. The table had been pushed to the middle, and on it rested a cake with white frosting.

Chuuya slowly walked in, taking in the sight. The boss had several party hats stacked on his head, the chin straps crossing each other messily on his face, no doubt Elise's doing. Gin and Tachihara were exchanging glances at each other near the back of the room, but their intent was hard to sense from so far away. An enthusiastic Higuchi was chatting with Akutagawa, though he seemed to not be listening and only offering the occasional nod or cough. Koyo had taken a seat in one of the chairs, holding  a wrapped box. Other boxes of various sizes sat under the table or on chairs. 

Something warm tugged at his heart. The port mafia really was family. 

Elise was tugging at his sleeve, offering a party hat then bringing him over to the table. The cake looked delicious, the frosting was dotted with the specks of vanilla seeds, piped decorations forming meticulous flowers and the words "Happy Birthday" in various pastel colors. Pieces of chocolate and wafer cones topped the small swirls forming a border around the top. Elise presses a tiny box into the palm of his hand, closing his fingers around it.

Chuuya bends down, giving Elise a big hug and ignoring the huff that came from her.
