Huawei sub-brand Honor today announced it will unveil a new smartphone on May 20, dubbed Honor X10. Honor took to Weibo to make this announcement, where it also shared a poster which confirms the X10 will support 5G networks. The company didn't share any other details about the X10, but thanks to TENAA, we know the smartphone will be powered by the Kirin 820 SoC and pack a 6.63" LCD of FullHD+ resolution. The Honor X10 will sport a 40MP Sony IMX600y main camera on the back which will be joined by an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro or depth modules. For selfies and video calls, you'll get a 16MP camera. The X10 will feature a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and pack a 4,200 mAh battery that will draw power through a USB-C port at up to 22.5W. Huawei was rumored to expand the nova 7 lineup with the nova 7, nova 7 SE and nova 7 Pro on April 23 and now the company took it to Weibo to confirm announcement. Huawei's Weibo post also includes a poster having a silhouette of a smartphone with a rectangular camera bump on the back, but it's unclear whether this is the vanilla nova 7, SE or the Pro version. Huawei hasn't revealed any details of the nova 7 trio yet, but from previous leaks, we know the regular nova 7, nova 7 SE and nova 7 Pro will be powered by the Kirin 985, 820 and 990 5G, respectively. A leaked image also revealed the design and color options of the nova 7 series and a few specs like 5G support, dual front cameras and 50x zoom. The Honor 30 series will feature all three of HiSilicon’s 5G enabled chipsets – from the flagship Kirin 990 5G, through the yet to be announced Kirin 985 and to the mid-range Kirin 820. This was confirmed by the company itself on Weibo. The Honor 30S is already official with a 820 chip. This leaves the other two chipsets for the upcoming Honor 30 and 30 Pro, which popped up on TENAA a couple of days ago. The Honor 30 Pro will have a 50MP rear camera (up from 40MP on the non-Pro) and up to 12GB of RAM to go with the Kirin 990 5G. The vanilla Honor 30 will use the 985 chip, which has a similar CPU configuration but runs at lower clock speeds. The two phones will share a 6.57” AMOLED display (1080p+ resolution) and 3,900mAh battery. Besides the 50MP camera with Sony IMX700 sensor (seen here in a leaked image), the Honor 30 Pro will also have a periscope telephoto cam. The company posted a couple of camera samples teasing the phone’s low-light capabilities and a possible Moon mode. The Kirin 985 is an upcoming chipset from HiSilicon that will feature a 5G modem and may be at the heart of the Honor 30 instead of the Kirin 990 5G. Little was known about the chip, but newly surfaced results from AI Benchmark show the composition of the CPU and NPU. The 985 will be similar to the Kirin 820 in that it will have only one prime core, plus three big and four small cores. For comparison, the flagship Kirin 990 (4G and 5G) have a 2+2+4 configuration. All three chips use the same CPU cores, though, Cortex-A76 and A55. Check the table below for a more detailed look. A leaked presentation for the Honor 30 shows that its main camera will have a large Sony sensor - 1/1.3", essentially the same size as the 1/1.33" sensor of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. However, the Sony sensor will have larger pixels, 1.2µm (up from 0.8µm on the Samsung). This should give the Honor the edge in low-light shooting. And it should have an advantage over the Oppo Find X2 Pro too, which uses a Sony-made 1/1.43" sensor (48MP resolution, 1.12µm). The resolution is not listed, but it should be 48MP as the sensor and pixel sizes match up with this 48MP sensor from OmniVision. However, the unnamed Sony IMX chip might have some advantages, e.g. the new 2x2 OCL autofocus system (which Oppo calls "omni-directional AF"). Note that this is for the Honor 30, not the 30S that is coming on March 30 with the fast Kirin 820 5G chipset. The Honor 30S has passed through AnTuTu ahead of March 30 unveiling. We already know the Honor 30S will pack the 5G-ready Kirin 820 SoC, and now the benchmark database reveals it will come with 8GB RAM, 128GB storage and FullHD+ screen. The smartphone will run Android 10 out of the box, which is likely to have EMUI 10 on top. AnTuTu reveals that Kirin 820 includes a total of eight CPU cores - four Cortex-A76 big ones and four power-efficient Cortex-A56 ones. It packs the Mali-G57 GPU to handle gaming and video editing. Additionally, AnTuTu gives us an idea of the Kirin 820's performance by sharing a chart which compares the SoC with the Kirin 810, Kirin 980 and Snapdragon 765G chipsets. The Kirin 820 comes closer to the Kirin 980 in CPU tests but falls slightly short in GPU performance. However, it beats the Kirin 810 and Snapdragon 765G in both CPU and GPU prowess. The Kirin 820 5G has been popping up on our news feed for the last couple of weeks and we even had a pretty comprehensive report regarding the platform's details. Now, we have some insight into the performance as well. Based on its Geekbench 4 scores, the Kirin 820 5G can outperform the Snapdragon 855 in a single-core tests. It also beats the Kirin 980 in both single-thread and multi-thread performance. Perhaps, this is due to the main Cortex-A76 cores being clocked higher. Not to mention that this mid-range chip largely benefits from the energy-efficient 7nm process, much like this year's and last year's flagship SoCs. It's believed that the chipset will also boast improved ISP and NPU, at least compared to the Kirin 810, and ARM's brand new G77 GPU with impressive 120 to 140% jump in performance per mm² compared to the G76. A leaked image of the Huawei nova 7 coming on April 23 revealed the smartphone will pack a punch hole display and sport a rectangular camera cutout on the back. Well, a video shared by Huawei on its official Weibo account just confirmed those bits. At the 0:13 mark, you can also see a smartphone with curved edge display, which could be the nova 7 Pro rumored to have the Kirin 990 5G SoC at the helm. You can watch the short video. Additionally, a Huawei smartphone bearing model code HNB-AN10 and said to be the nova 7 has appeared on Geekbench with Android 10 and 8GB RAM. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core processor having a base frequency of 1.84GHz, which could be a part of the freshly announced Kirin 985 7nm SoC. Alongside the nova 7 and nova 7 Pro, Huawei is also expected to unveil the nova 7 SE on April 23 with the Kirin 820 chipset at the helm.
