Thinking here... Naruto & Boruto's time skips have two glaring flaws that are really opposite to each other...

When we get to see Naruto after the 2,5 years time skip, he barely changed anything, he basically:

Learned the Oodama Rasengan (A bigger Rasengan... After 2,5 years... Wow)

Learned to break free from genjustu (??? Why don't they teach it in the Ninja Academy again???) (And yet, he fails when he needs to use it in an actual fight)

And Kyuubi's power got more unstable and he still barely controls it, getting to go four tales rather quickly now (What's ironic given that control this power was Jiraya's focus)

Meanwhile everyone around him seems to have got really stronger: Sakura became a really good Medic Ninja and got Super Strength, Shikamaru evolved his shadow jutsu into a more offensive and independent in combat version, Neji became a Jounin, Chouji got better with his Body Expansion jutsu and was already praticing to use its best version without special pills & Sasuke well... Got a lot of boost, he even had the Kirin already when he first met Naruto & Sakura again... EVEN KAKASHI WITH HIS KAMUI!

Naruto seems to have got stuck in time to then just later have an actual evolution.

Like, I understand Kishimoto probably wanted us to witness Naruto's evolution, (and probably hadn't thought of the concepts properly by that time) but he could at least have made Jiraya drop some stuff and pass to Naruto some basic principles (such as the Chakra Natures (again, why didn't they learn that in the academy???) and what Minato actually wanted to accomplish with the Rasengan or even the Sennin Mode)

In the end the time skip really makes Jiraya look a bad teacher as later in the anime Naruto learns & improves such abilities in record time compared to his predecessors, impressing his teachers...

Meanwhile, Boruto's time skip of 2 years got to give nothing to the secondary characters besides new outfits, otherwise they receive near to zero attention and if we can say they actually evolved, they evolved nothing beyond we could expect or even still got under we could expect.

On contrary to Boruto himself, who reached a new power level, far beyond the average (being able to easily subdue Code who was previously pointed as a huge threat), learned the Hiraishin no Jutsu, had a change of personality, trained with the Frogs from the Myoboku Mountain and even CREATED A FREAKING RASENGAN THAT USES NOTHING LESS THAN THE PLANET'S ROTATION ITSELF...

The brat got absurdely stronger out of our eyes...

So in short: Naruto got almost no evolution in his time skip, what's really disappointing as we look at how much everyone else evolved in the same time; Meanwhile, Boruto evolved so much that it feels a loss we couldn't witness it considering how nobody else seems have been able to follow the pace... Really two opposite issues

i did this all on black paper bc i think there's a solid difference between how they'd appear at night.. within the shadows they'd have more of an inconsistent/impermanent quality about them (although the "horns" are more akin to a crest made from thicker hairs, and aren't really a day/night thing)

i kind of wanted to highlight the obscuration of features/details, especially in the face bc in the comfort of the shadows, their appearance would rely more on their perception of self

also, i want to say that this form has to be self-discovered, bc the family doesn't really teach about it. ofc this can cause fear/confusion if it is discovered, but the clan kind of operates on the ideal of assimilation and therefore avoids mentioning it at all

tying in the shadow manipulation aspect, an experienced nara can manipulate the shadows around them to take on larger, more extreme forms (ones that cannot be performed during the day/in the light)

this is largely self-indulgent but it turns out i can do whatever i want. you know you're doing headcanons right when they're absolutely batshit but they technically cannot be refuted

To be fair to skykashi, in their first answer they gave several arguments about why they thought Kakashi's IQ was 200 to them and you've replied by stating that inventing a jutsu wasn't a good enough proof, ignoring every other arguments they offer. By "legitimate number", do you mean one in a databook? Or explicitely stated in the show? Lastly, how did you calculate his potential IQ then? I never got how those things work in fiction tbh (same with power level)?

I don't need to say anything about the arguments about Kakashi being called intelligent because I know for a fact that he is.

However, when she replied to me in her own post, she started saying that Kakashi is considered a genius, top of his class, youngest genin, chūnin, jōnin and one of the youngest and few people that have created an A-rank jutsu. And let me tell you: that doesn't mean he's intelligent. That's why I said that inventing jutsu isn't a condition.

The third databook explains what the intelligence/mind stat is about and it's nothing about being either a genius or inventing jutsu, only level of knowledge and IQ.

Basically, it doesn't matter if they graduated top of their class, they're the youngest ninja or whatever. It's not a condition and I mentioned Neji Hyūga, considered a genius by his clan; and Sasuke Uchiha, the prodigy of his clan. Both have lowest IQ than fellow clansmen and teammates. In the case of Neji, he recreated absolutely every single of the main branch techniques, was promoted to jōnin and Hinata surpassed him in intelligence. Sasuke invented the Kirin and Sakura was still superior in intelligence.

By legitimate number I meant that neither Kakashi's IQ or anybody's (except Shikamaru's) has been confirmed. The only approximation is in chapter 107 and it says that Shikamaru's IQ is over 200. No specific number, just that is over 200, so it must be the highest IQ possible.

The Boruto statistics do give a legitimate number about his intelligence. It's stated to be of 210.

Why did this whole debate start? Because I gave my opinion about Kakashi's possible IQ number if the Boruto statistics drop, to which I responded that his stat could be of 200 because if he has 5/5 then that would be the case. This is the ask in particular. It also stemmed because I said that the stat of 5/5 points in his databook could mean 180 or 190 (as well as 200), but that I didn't know because there's no official number.

Why did I say a lower number than 200 if Kakashi is as intelligent/more intelligent than Shikamaru as a chūnin? Because the Boruto statistics reflect a lower number than Masashi Kishimoto's statistics and because I don't think that anybody will be given a higher number or any number close to Shikamaru, literally the most intelligent man of the village and a prominent character in the series. The only person that could come close to him is Amado, another prominent character; but Kakashi, who is very much irrelevant in the story right now, could easily be nerfed in terms of intelligence. How did I calculate his potential IQ? I didn't calculate his potential IQ, I calculated what the Boruto stats could give him knowing that they reduced some characters' skills. The easiest example to compare the Boruto statistics and the databooks' is Sakura Haruno and Shikamaru Nara. I must say that these numbers are not legitimate and not official, I'm trying to figure them out using logic.

I'll start by saying that 5 is equal to 200 or close numbers and 1 is close to 90 or close numbers. There's nothing beyond 5 so Shikamaru's 200+ of IQ isn't reflected in the databook because the highest number is 5. His exact number is of 210 which surpasses the limit established by Asuma in chapter 107 and the maximum number established by the Boruto statistics, which is 200 (for example Sasuke Uchiha has a chakra number of 200 because he has a large reserve naturally).

With Sakura, her latest intelligence stat is of 4/5 and her Boruto number is 174. So, basically, I tried to give them numbers accordingly. This is not official, this is the closest logic I could apply.

5/5: 210 - 190 Shikamaru Nara (210)

4.5/5: 190- 180

4/5: 180 - 170 Sakura Haruno (174)

3.5/5: 170 - 160

3/5: 160 - 150

2.5/5: 150 - 140

2/5: 140 - 130

1.5/5: 130 - 120

1/5: 120 - 110

0.5/5: 110 - 100 (90)

0/5: 90 (Nobody has 0 in intelligence, the lowest is 0.5)

There are quite a few nerfs (or I don't know how to refer to them). For example, Sasuke Uchiha's latest scale is 3.5/5 and his intelligence in Boruto is reflected as 100; Naruto Uzumaki's latest scale is 3/5 and his intelligence in Boruto is reflected as 90; and Sai's latest scale is 3.5/5 and his intelligence in Boruto is reflected as 155. So they don't fit my logic and I don't understand why the numbers have changed so much. It's what I don't understand from these statistics.

That's why I chose Sakura and Shikamaru to make the list and the hypothetical numbers: because their latest databook numbers fit the Boruto data.

That's why I said that I didn't think that Kakashi could be given a lower number than 200: because the rest of the characters have seen their intelligence stat reduced and because the story can't have somebody smarter than Shikamaru, who is the most intelligent man in Konoha.

This debate started because I said that there's no official number for his intelligence and over a personal opinion because I'm familiar with the lower numbers of the Boruto manga statistics.

Headcanon: Hogwarts Houses

Because the idea just came to me... HOGWARTS HOUSES!

I’m sure most people would assume that Sasuke would be Slytherin. And you may be right. I’m thinking my way through it as I go, honestly. But let’s at least LOOK at the other houses.

Hufflepuff... While Sasuke is a hard working guy, the thing with Hufflepuff is that it’s sometimes written somewhat as a house of exclusion. Basically whoever doesn’t fit into the other houses ends up in Hufflepuff.

Said Hufflepuff, "I'll teach the lot, And treat them just the same.”

When they’re not treated as a house of exclusion, they’re treated as a house of people who are hard working and loyal. While Sasuke is hard working, as shown when he managed to master a jutsu, before he was even a student, in a week, assuming I’m remembering it right... his loyalty does come into question, considering he defected to Orochimaru in his quest for power. It can be argued that he was never truly loyal to Orochimaru, but that would just cast more doubt upon his loyalty. While nowadays, he is loyal to Konoha, I don’t think we can really say he’s THAT loyal, due to his past. And his hard-working isn’t exactly his most prominent characteristic. So I doubt it’s likely, I’m not sure if the hat would even consider it.

Ravenclaw... Sasuke is smart. There’s no denying that. Not as smart as Shikamaru, but if you’re going to compare people to him, you’re not gonna consider many people smart. He’s definitely clever enough to think and adapt tactics and strategies on the fly, and knew exactly what Naruto was thinking when Naruto threw him the Windmill Shuriken. You know, one of Naruto’s very few smart ideas early in the show. And if you watch the fight against Haku, he was watching and learning how Haku’s jutsu worked, and had he not ‘sacrificed’ himself for Naruto, he may very well have managed to get his way out of it. So Ravenclaw would definitely be a house he’d be considered by, I would think.

Gryffindor... Sasuke definitely does have some bravery, and some valor. Although I’m not sure valor is part of being a ninja... well, in Naruto, it may be. And he’s definitely determined. Maybe it’s just me though, but I don’t think it really suits Sasuke. It’d be considered, most likely, but I think the hat would likely steer away from it fairly soon, especially the way I would write Sasuke. While I wouldn’t say one who relies upon stealth isn’t cowardly, it’s probably not exactly the bravest thing to do... although it’s better than overdoing the bravery and being reckless. Well, unless you want to be in Gryffindor, at least. So I don’t think it’d be likely for him to be picked for this house.

Slytherin. The one everyone expected. Students of Slytherin are cunning, resourceful, and have pride and ambition. As a good ninja, Sasuke is definitely cunning. As a good fighter, he is resourceful. When the atmosphere of a location for a fight did not suit his needs, he changed it so that it would, creating the perfect atmosphere for thunder clouds so he could use Kirin. He definitely has his fair share of pride, to a fault, being generally unwilling to ask for help, even when he needs it. As for ambition... His ambitions have been quite lofty. First, he wanted to kill his brother. In canon, he then wanted to destroy the Leaf. Something that Pein... arguably achieved, but then he reversed it, and he used somewhat immortal puppets to do so anyway. Then he wanted to become Hokage, despite the fact that Konoha would likely never accept him as one, due to having defected and all the stuff he had done as a missing-nin. And then, in my canon, he wants to restore the clan... which is going to be impossible in his lifetime, unless he took several wives and had multilple children with all of them. Which Sasuke... wouldn’t be necessarily opposed to, but that’s neither here nor there.

...So. yeah. Slytherin is pretty much the clear answer, surprising no-one, I’m sure.

If I did do a Harry Potter/Hogwarts AU though, I might end up putting him in Ravenclaw, just to be different. Besides, it’s not like people always end up in the houses they really should anyway.

Some examples would be Peter Pettigrew, who was in Gryffindor, when he was a cowardly little twat, Gilderoy Lockhart was a Ravenclaw, despite the fact he was an idiot, and Minerva McGonagall was arguably more of a Ravenclaw than a Gryffindor. So, yeah, if I do a Hogwarts AU, chances are Sasuke’ll be a Ravenclaw. The hat would probably take quite a while deciding with him.

Who knows though, if I do an AU I might put a little bit more research into the houses first.

30 Day Naruto Challenge - Day 7

Ultimate Favorite Fight

Oh God why. This is SO hard. You cannot make me pick just one. Just one fight! Oh God oh God oh God. So But I truly adore the fight between Team 7 and Haku and Zabuza. I think that it is the classical one and me personally fell in love with Naruto series right after that (and thought how badass Kakashi is). Then Sasuke’s fight with Gaara in Chunnin exams was great too although not finished. Then Lee’s fight with Gaara. Also that “fight” Kurenai, Kakashi and Jiraya fought against Itachi (too bad he was not kicked more!). Sound 4 against Shikamaru, Choji, Neji and Kiba? God I was crying like a baby when Akamaru was hurt and swear so much but fortunately none of them died. Also Sasuke and Naruto’s fight in Valley of End - another classic.....Hashirama’s and Madara’s fight was legendary too, that Sannin fight I love so much (Tsunade’s fist to fist fight against Orochimaru and how she turned his face into bloody mash) or Minato’s fight with Obito when he attacked Konoha. From Shippuuden fights I need to mention Sakura and Chiyo vs. Sasori (for the first time and last time I was truly amazed by Sakura), Team 7 and 8 vs. Kakuzu and Hidan (RIP Asuma), Naruto and Hinata vs. Pein, Sasuke vs. Danzo (GOD I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN THAT LITTLE PIECE OF SHIT DIED), Madara vs. Five Kages (I still don’t know which side I am on in this case :D) and also Madara vs. Guy was awesome. And of course final Naruto vs. Sasuke fight.

But the winner is:

Itachi vs. Sasuke fight

What else I could say? I was waiting for it since the first episode of Naruto. I was waiting for justice to be served, for peace to be given to Uchiha clan, for punishment to be granted for Itachi – and I had it. Now we forget everything that happened after the fight (because that was total shit and I do not buy it – oooo Itachi such a victim ooooo Itachi didn't have a choice. He did. He killed everyone expect Sasuke - okay - but he did not need to torture him every time he met him afterwards for a god sake! And he also did not need to feed him lies. Because it must be so great to found out that you killed an “innocent” man instead of rotten criminal you considered him to be. Great plans Itachi, great.)

But back to fight – oh those feels – it had everything. Psychopathic Itachi as a villain that is needed to be cared of, great lines (also Zetsu as a commentator was great), little bit of revealing secrets in the beginning, genjutsu and mind controlling games, weapon parade, fire techniques, taijutsu, amazing swordship, Mangekyou Sharingan techniques and also Kirin. Oh how much I love Kirin! Sasuke planned it all so nicely if it wasn’t for damn Susanoo :D. The only thing I dislike about this fight is Orochimaru’s appearance and that Sasuke helped himself with those filthy snake techniques....and the fact Itachi was ill during the fight disgraced everything Sasuke worked for but okay Kishimoto okay. I don’t like you for this but okay – there is nothing I can do about it but still this fight was promised for so long and after all it was unique. Every possible kind of jutsu or techniques were used, they switched from one to another in the matter of seconds, it was fast and raw and so unpredictable and they were both worn out after this, reached their limits and it appeared  they both truly wanted to kill the other one. Itachi played that pugnacity and craziness really good and for me this fight closed up one main chapter and gave me (at least for a week) feeling of satisfaction for Uchiha clan.

Do you have any headcanons: Oh I have a whole bunch tucked in my mind’s treasure chest. hahaha So I’ll just share one. i always have this hc that Sasuke and Sakura got married in Konoha. And while everyone that they invited are enjoying at the reception, they decided to sneak out and head to the Uchiha District. Sasuke leads Sakura to the Naka Shrine and down to the Uchiha secret meeting place beneath the shrine. Sakura wonders why they are there. Then Sasuke begins calling out to his father, mother, Itachi, Shisui, and everyone in his clan then proceeds to tell them “Meet Sakura Uchiha, the love of my life,my wife and the newest member and matriarch of our clan.,” Then he smiles at her that “smile that is only reserved to Sakura”. And as if it was a sign of them accepting her, the whole room lights up with those little orbs in the light.

Are you happy with the ending? What would you have done differently? Yes, I am happy with the ending. However, I feel that it was rushed. So if I have the chance to do it differently, I would have expanded the story and showed what everyone did post-war, making the manga at least 50 chapters longer before chapter 700. Also I would like to animate the entire epilogue novels and do them in chronological order. Also I would have done the following mid-story: (1) A Sakura Haruno arc dedicated only to her, which may include her parents, perhaps be a reincarnation of Indra’s wife, plus a major solo battle for her. Intensify her genjutsu skills, maybe showcase how well she is good with poisons, Sakura going to Shikkotsu Forest to learn Slug Sage Mode (2) An entire arc for each Rookie 9 character with a major fight (3) Sakumo Hatake backstory (4) More Indra and Ashura backstories (5)Explored more of Kaguya’s origins (6) Backstory of how Mei Terumi became Mizukage and how she was able to calm and reform the Hidden Mist from its bad reputation as the Bloody Mist (7) More Fugaku and Mikoto!! (8) More Team Taka moments (9) Kurenai active in battle (10) More Yugao and Anko Mitarashi 

How do you feel about the new generation? Overall, I like them. I love Sarada the most. She is an interesting character along with Mirai, Mitsuki, and Chocho.

Say something about your favorite character. Good and bad. Sasuke is both an intriguing character which makes him even more interesting. You can totally explore a lot about his character and you’ll still want more.

What would a child between your OTP look like? How would they behave as parents? Well we already have Sarada. But i would like to see her with long hair and when she’s a teenager she would be so curvy like her mom. I can see Sasuke and Sakura as strict parents especially when it comes to training.  But when they’re at home, I see them a s cuddly parents to Sarada.

Say something genuinely nice about your NoTP. Uhm, they are comrades. I’m glad Karin was with Sasuke during his dark times, at least someone looked out for him along with Juugo and Suigetsu. They may not have the intention of saving, at least they were there for him. And I’m happy she helped Sakura and Sasuke when Sarada was born.

Say something negative about your OTP. They still don’t have a panel kissing drawn by Kishi.

Is there anyway you could be convinced to ship your NoTP? What would make you change your mind about the pairing? Nope.

What makes you mad about the series? Fandom Wars and Studio Pierrot downplaying Sakura, Sasuke, and SasuSaaku.

The way Sasuke always seem different with Sakura from anyone else - I still believe he felt something for her during the genin days, but hatred blinded him, so when hatred finally dissaperred their love could blossom. Do you have any headcanons: Uchiha family cuteness overload scenes...just their everyday life and effection for one another

Are you happy with the ending? What would you have done differently?  The ending was everything I hoped for!! I wouldn’t give Sarada glasses either. I would have involved a “Sasuke coming back to Konoha” moment with Sakura and Sasuke. Have Sasuke attend and be Naruto’s best man at the wedding, with Sakura by his side. Naruto not to appear as if he is tired from being Hokage

How do you feel about the new generation? Little Sarada princess is perfect, the lion cup Boruto (I wish he was my son!!) and Chouchou is sooo pretty!!

Say something about your favorite character. Good and bad. It would be a showdown between Naruto and Sasuke, buuut still Naruto helped me be who I am today. I grew up with the guy, he feels like a brother to me.

What would a child between your OTP look like? How would they behave as parents? I love that Sarada calls SS “mama and papa”, I can feel the closeness between them. Sarada is overall perfect, buuut I still wish for a little Uchiha boy ;) SS would adore their child!
