Would you ever plan on doing an art stream sometime? Or perhaps a game stream? :)
I used to do art streams, but I've gotten rather shy with my process in the last few years ^^;... Maybe some day I'll do another art stream.
I often think about doing game streams actually, but I don't know how many people would want to watch me play the kinds of games I play. But maybe I'll try it out anyway at some point! If it's something people are interested in.

You know i while i will always be a beliver of "not all games are made for you" kinda man, part of me really wishes it could like some games that i like the story or ideas (be that mechanic or in character) but hate the gameplay
Like i really like stuff like legues lore or dwarf fortress but man the barrier gameplay whise makes me just consume them in video format
Which isnt like i mind seeing about it but part of me wishes that i could just enjoy it

tbh video games are a weird exception for me where i can't stand other forms of media having reactionary politics, like i can't look past it to try enjoy it despite the politics, it just ruins the experience for me, but for video games idgaf lol as long as the gameplay is fun i'm good. i mean i did write like 10k words criticising the reactionary politics of life is strange but that's different cause lis is a telltale game and basically just an interactive movie like there's not much gameplay to compensate for the writing and the politics of the writers. normal games are mostly gameplay and you can kinda ignore the writing if you don't like it. not that gameplay is apolitical, obviously the way the gameplay is designed is political too, but ig it's easier for me to ignore it if i can be distracted by the fun-ness of the gameplay? idk. but generally i'll play games with whatever strategy is most successful for the objectives of the game, like if the goal of the game is to make the most profit possible i'll play as a capitalist, if the goal of the game is to conquer all the land i'll play as a coloniser, if the goal of the game is to overthrow the bourgeoisie i'll play as a communist lol. anyway my main source of income in my rimworld games is harvesting and selling prisoners' organs

I like the silly Pokemon Parody Ark Ripoff game so here's my two cents if you're interested. Under the cut bc this post is long as fuck lol Also congrats Palworld for the 1.5 Milly player peak on steam, go you crazy ass indie game
After trying to find cute Palworld content on tumblr and seeing nothing but whining, it's surprising how many people hate this random ass indie game that was made on a budget of 10k? Like yeah the designs can be boring parodies with a handful of great original ones but the amount of people who are outright hateful's kinda.. odd? Like lads you can critique a game, it's designs and CEO without sending death threats to the developers right? Tumblr likes to steal from the rich so why is it bad when someone actually does? Anyway it's insane how there's people trying to prove the game stole assets from Nintendo and then compare models which. Are not the same poly and vertices wise? And even if it was, it's hard to take seriously when the poster is someone who admits they hate the game for... Animal abuse? Also insane how many people hate Palworld for the fact it has -human- slavery, Pals can do jobs for you 'so it's cruel' and has a certain Pal number 69 who's description is suggestive so the game's immoral and over all "trying too hard to be edgy" it's like. Since when do we police such topics in games of all things? Have you played games that aren't Baby's First Christian Game before? Scratch that because even shitty bad Christian games have harsher shit than what's in Palworld. Catching and selling ppl [who tried to kill you in the first place] in the game's exactly like catching 'mons and it's nowhere near as fucked up as Rimworld where you have to go out of your way to make prisons for people and, if you wanna be extra evil, you can extract their organs and sell them on the market n' nobody tried to cancel that game. In-game, Palworld discourages you from overworking your lil guys and asks you to make spas and beds and keep them well fed and to make sure they're medically sound and happy! Oh no! How cruel! I am asking my little teapot elephant to water my garden!!! Pokemon's also confirmed that people used to marry Pokemon in-lore and we have games like bg3 and DOS2 where. Um. Halsin is a bear in more ways than one yknow what I'm saying? also spider. Both pretty nasty and def not my cuppa but having a fit over a description in a game's kinda weird? Also for a game promoted on "Pokemon with guns" it is INCREDIBLY tame. Slavery is p-much "oh lol I can catch this guy. Anyway back to petting my fire fox :)" and put him in a box like any other creature bc who cares, videogame + the guy literally tried to Kill You. There's also no blood or gore or anything actually shocking tbh? Yeah there's guns but they're late game and you can literally chose not to deal with guns
Since when did we decide to yell at a game like the satanic panic of the original pokemon where ppl said it promoted cockfighting? Although it is fictional cockfighting gamewise, nobody cares because it's way more than that lol Also why does nobody complain that the game is literally ARK btw? Is it because ARK players don't give a shit or is it because some people will view a game and crit it for purely surface level assumptions with no nuance or understanding? Criticize it for lifting game elements from more than just pokemon, criticize it's CEO for being a regular ol' shitty CEO, criticize it's terrible official servers and buggy 'mon AI, but by all means do NOT spread false information and slander-ish claims against it jfc

RimWorld: Anomaly
I want to tell y'all a story.
So. RimWorld's fourth DLC Anomaly released this week, and for the past two days I've been playing it almost non-stop. I'll put it below the cut because its obviously a crapton of spoilers, but I'm just kind of blown away at how much story this DLC adds to the infamous story generator game.
Like, I have over 4,000 hours in this game and this is the first time that its felt like its telling me an actual story.
Spoilers ahead! TW: child death in the context of this cruel cruel video game:
I had this colonist join named Bristle who was described as a "leathery stranger" with a unique ability - he can blow up animals (and people, presumably) with his mind into hunks of twisted flesh. I said, sure, why not! Join my colony, what's the worst that could happen?!
Well, the worst that could happen is he went and studied a monolith on the beach outside of my base and it teleported him into a strange grey labyrinth. Pretty much just as soon as he got here, he's now trapped in some kinda void maze. Great!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It took me a couple of rooms before I noticed the markings on the floor, so once I realized I could read them I examined every single one I could find.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The messages are... Evocative, but they start giving me names. I'm wondering this whole time, who is Raisa? And who is Tom? I checked all of my colonists - I don't have anyone by either name. Are they people I should know? Or... People I haven't met yet?
Tumblr media
Fortunately, because Bristle had literally just joined my colony, he came with his own rifle and 12x fine meals, so he could actually bum around and hang out in the labyrinth for a pretty long time. I ended up mapping out the entire thing before his last 6 meals disappeared from his inventory.
Tumblr media
I found a couple rooms with fleshspikes - those are these pink little flesh monsters with a giant protruding spike coming out of their heads? - but thanks to Bristle's ability to explode creatures with his mind, I just... Exploded it.
Tumblr media
I also found a couple groves of trees underground, a couple of horses randomly, and some bottomless pits. I was tempted to walk over one just to see what would happen (and savescum out of it ofc), but I didn't end up doing it.
Tumblr media
I'm really concerned about Tom and Raisa though. Are they okay? Did they make it out?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm especially concerned about Tom. That... Doesn't sound okay.
And then I push through yet another door.
Tumblr media
This is Raisa... And Tom.
Tumblr media
I gasped out loud in real life. Nora came over to check on me because holy shit, that's so sad. Suddenly their notes makes sense. The obelisk abducted a woman and her child, and they got stuck in here for who knows how long. The wounds they had indicated that a fleshspike had done this to them.
Tumblr media
I went to the exit - I had found it earlier, I just wanted to keep exploring. Thankfully, everything that had been left behind was kicked out of the labyrinth with Bristle when it collapsed on itself and the obelisk itself vanished from sight.
Tumblr media
Including Raisa and Tom. I had to give them a proper burial. Wish I could've done more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The messages were all from Raisa after she lost her son Tom.
I had done the two researchers one ghoul story start because I wanted to dive right into the DLC, and one of those researchers, Rose, arrived pregnant. Baby Thorn is almost three years old and still doesn't have a name.
Its kind of funny, because when I first landed she idly wandered near the monument, and I had one of those gamer coincidences where she walked by it right at the same time I got the notification that she was pregnant.
So I wound up continuing this colony even though it was a crap start, thinking I'd get some kind of void baby out of the deal? Nope, normal baby, normal birth. He's just chilling in his crib being looked after by the whole community as happy as can be. She must've been pregnant on the screen where I selected her for my colony and I just missed that detail.
Another funny thing about this kid, is that his father is Unknown, and apparently Rose's ex was the ghoul Kaito that I also started with. So, presumably, it was her ghoul (ex) husband's son, but the game's code doesn't seem to be able to link him as the other parent, either because he's a ghoul or because it happened as part of the game's starting conditions. Also she's actually gay on her character sheet, so I dunno how that worked for them? Ehh, I'm not gunna judge.
Anyways, I'm thinking about naming him Tom.
Here's hoping he has a long and full life.

Saw your post about colony/factory game sims and wanted to know if you have favourites, some sort of ranking to them, a comfort pick or anything like that
Ooh that's a hard question. I can't rank them all in a tier list since they all give slightly different things, but i can describe them by how and why they like them.
I like Oxygen not included cuz i've played it so much now that it's like going home whenever i play it, and it's always fun running a crew of gremlins that go "weee".
Rimworld is a game ive played SO MUCH that i feel like ive seen it all. It's fun and relaxing but also im kinda sad cuz i know the game enough that i unconsciously start min maxing things and i want to go back to the time where i knew nothing lol
I play Factorio when i want to feel like im coding without actually coding lmao. also it has so many different modpacks so its very versatile.
Satsifactory is probably the weakest link out of these for me because it has a bit of an identity crisis i feel. the game demands you to build gigantic factories to fulfill its endgame goals but it only has a simplistic blueprint system meaning it gets tedious for me fast unless im particularly feeling it. the game looks GORGEOUS THO.
Dyson Sphere Program is amazing cuz you build A FREAKING DYSON SPHERE!!! The planetary logistics is also great and the different planets and stuff are great too. the new combat system i find is good too.
Timberborn is a game that i play when i want to play an almost vanilla citybuilder but with some flavour to it. It's really fun with its water mechanics and the tree and food systems. Overall it can be a very relaxing and fun experience unless ur playing on hard in which case it is a masochistic sort of fun lmao
Against the storm - HOO BOY, this is a hard game. This game is a blend between a puzzle game, a factory game (cuz of its supply chains) and a city building game and a rougelike and it's amazing. It's brutal but whenever i can pull out a win on P20 (Highest difficulty) it feels exhilarating.
Did I just go on an autistic ramble? i think i just did. hope this answered your question lmao.

I have been feeling quite sick today so I've been taking it easy. I felt like drawing, but I didn't feel up to drawing a proper comic for the RimWorld story, and I kinda just wanted to draw Mechi and Kwahu in nice suits. Mechi was... uncooperative. He wears clothes the way he likes. More power to him, I guess.
I'm gonna go take a nap with my cat, enjoy the Jones boys in their formal attire. <3 <3

I once made a post saying how fun it was to recreate characters in Rimworld
the downside of this thought is being accurate with their traits/stats
gonna put an example with OCs under the cut so it doesn't bother a lot
Tumblr media
look at these 3 silly guys
-Gritt is the only one with social skills bc both Ragz and Rune are traumatized </3 (also kinda fun that Gritt is technically an ancient golem so they probably speak in some ancient english which makes the situations weirder)
-Gritt is actually the colonist with most skills (bc it always has been the defender of their villager) so if he haves a breakdown practically the whole colony falls apart bc the other's can't help him
-Both Rune and Ragz share the ugly trait (our lad Gritt doesn't care bc he's ascetic) so even more reasons why they can't socialize. And to add spice Ragz haves the anxious trait so his isolations can be inconvenient
-None of them knows how to use a ranged weapon (bc they're based off pokémon and for my luck all of them are physical attackers) nor know how to pet an animal
-Only Ragz can cook because the others eat rocks. (this one's not character-accurate but kinda makes sense lol)
