Stage Name (if none, put first name): Taekyu
Full Name: Kim Taekyu
Company: DS Media
Age (International): Seventeen
Fields (Dance/Rap/Vocal): Dance/Rap/Vocal
Training Period (how long have you been training for?): Three years
Why did you choose to compete on Idol Project?: “Well I mean, besides seeing all the trainees having loads of fun on the last season, I saw trainees I’ve known for ages develop more into natural performers and I think that’s invaluable. To think, that type of development comes with experience and I’d rather have it pre-debut rather than post debut.”
What do you feel are your strengths? Weaknesses?: “I’d like to think that being a trainee in all fields makes me well rounded as a trainee and that’s a strength, but at the end of the day it’s not up to me to judge myself. I think my vocals is my biggest strength and I definitely think I need to balance my dancing and vocals more. I can do both at a decent standard for a while but one’ll begin to falter and that’s my biggest weakness. I don’t know if it’s a strength or a weakness, but being labelled as the future beagle member of whatever group I debut in is also a factor.”
What are you hoping to accomplish while on the show?: “I’m hoping to get some experience, mostly. Getting into the final group would be a dream come true but I’d be content with enhancing my existing skills.”
What do you think your biggest challenge will be?: “I think my biggest challenge is going to be my passion. I know with my dancing, sometimes I let the technical side of it overcome pouring my emotions into the dance so it can look a bit robotic. I think the same happens to my singing and rapping so I definitely think finding the balance is the biggest challenge.”
Do you have anything you’d like to say to your CEO(s) and coaches?: “I hope I can do them justice and show the public how good DS Media is!”
Any final words?: “Good luck to the other contestants and I hope it’s a good watch for the viewers!”

Episode Seven
title: weekly challenge word count: 931 words mun’s notes: i feel like this is in the style of a self-para more but i just rambled tbh its so shit
idol project in itself has been a rollar coaster for taekyu. it’s had it’s up and it’s downs and taekyu wouldn’t trade the experience for anything in the world. at first he entered the competition determined to do the best he could, to make the group and, deep down, show his company that he was deserving of debuting. but, as time progressed, his mindset changes to focus more on the experience; say he doesn’t make it into the group, at least he can say he’s got experience that other trainees don’t have and the experience has helped him grow as a performer.
he entered the competition as kim taekyu, son of a veteran performer and now he believes he’s more than that - he’s kim taekyu, a natural-born performer in himself. his company took a gamble with him and he intended to make sure he didn’t let them down.
taekyu thinks he completed the goal he had set out to do - remain optimistic and nice to everyone. he offered help to those who needed it and was pleasant to everyone, making sure to have no ill interactions. sure some people disliked him behind the scenes for his seemingly never ending optimism, but at the end of the day they didn’t dictate the show, the public did - that’s what taekyu kept in his mind.
maybe not all of the friendships he made on the show were genuine (with one side or both seeing it as an advantage in the competition) but some were and they’re friends he won’t want to lose anytime soon.
now taekyu himself wouldn’t say he had any rivalries, or at least not any that he sought out to create. of course there were the standard big three rivalries, but those were impersonal and standard for all of them.
no, the only rivalries taekyu found himself in were the ones the public were putting him in - who they thought he’d be a rival to and vice versa. he only found out about them through outside sources like seyeon, but they were enough to make him unnerved - he remembered feeling that throughout the competition. these fake rivalries inspired him to push himself harder, to make sure he wouldn’t be seen as lesser than another contender. the rivalries also made him exhausted, however, and there were many times where he felt like giving up because of these rivalries in the air.
taekyu has loved very stage he has put on, it’s as simple as that. being on a stage in front of people is far different from performing in front of the trainers for weekly evaluations - there’s a certain energy, one that taekyu finds addictive. if the show has revealed one thing to him, it’s that he definitely can’t see himself doing anything else in his life time.
a stand out stage in his head has to be the one with seyeon because that’s where he found out that performing with friends is one of, not to be dramatic, the best things in the world. that performance has ensured that taekyu, not that he wouldn’t anyway, will try his hardest to be friendly with everyone in whatever group he’s put in because the atmosphere and aura of that one stage has proved to him that it’s something to work towards.
to think that he’s created songs is somewhat surreal to taekyu. he created them nd nobody can take that fact away from him. he learnt so much from talented writers and producers, so much so that he’s considering now becoming one of those idols who produces or song writes on the side.
whilst there were times where the process was difficult, it added a layer to the experience that is idol project. he’d seen the girls from unity talk about the experience and he never once thought he’d understand what they truly meant but now, after appearing on the show, he gets it. the show has prepared him to be an idol in ways that just pure training never could.
the whole experience of idol project has helped him learn now to deal with the netizens, both korean and international, it taught him how to be stable at all times and where to look for the cameras when performing. the show taught him the importance of good communication and relations with others in your group and, most importantly, it taught him that the life of an idol isn’t as easy as one would think. yes, training did allude that fact, but idol project had really cemented that fact. he also thinks the opportunity to interact with trainees from the other companies in a way which he wouldn’t be able to do otherwise was extremely beneficial. they told him things their companies had told them in terms of training and vice versa, after all, they all have the same dream.
taekyu’s rather optimistic for the future - whereas before he wanted to debut as soon as possible, now he doesn’t mind waiting. idol project has tided him over and, if he makes the final group, he’s sure to enjoy those promotions whilst they last.
taekyu hopes he can debut soon beyond the final group, if he makes it, because the energy he has on stage and the feeling he has on stage are ones that cannot be replicated in any other way. letting taekyu on the show was a bad thing, in some cases, since now he’ll be itching to be on there again when it’s all over - he’ll probably become a bigger nuisance than before.

KIM TAEKYU
AGE: Seventeen COMPANY: DS Media POSITION: Dance/Rap/Vocal Trainee FACECLAIM: Chwe Hansol “Vernon” PLAYED BY: Olly
. Everyone does their drunken mistakes. From waking up in an unknown place to, well, conceiving a child, it seems every adult has had their share of drunken experiences. Very few people are safe from them, ex-celebrities not being under this term. Kim Yoora, a former hallyu star, succumbs to the effects of alcohol one evening and falls pregnant after a messy one night stand with an unknown stranger in Wellington.
ii. Falling pregnant whilst married with an infant child isn’t the best of situations and not wanting to come clean, she passes the child off as her husband’s whilst keeping contact with the child’s biological father, pleading for him to not come into contact with the newly born infant.
iii. Kim Taekyu, or Tae for the ease of the speakers of New Zealand, grows up living the life many people wish for. He gets what he wants when he wants it and every year presents a new, unique holiday to different parts of the world. He remains humble though, seeing how people around him aren’t as fortunate and soon aspirations to give back arise.
iv. Taekyu’s “father” dying leads to a chain of unfortunate events for the boy. First of all, grief riddles him and he can’t help but notice the pain of his family. Second, he rejects his lifestyle more and more, appearing arrogant  and ungrateful and finally, he begins to see his biological father. In the short period before departing to South Korea, many walks home from school included seeing a man suspiciously walking the same path as he and his brother do. They pass it as the man living near them and it being purely coincidental, but Taekyu has never forgotten the possessive look in the man’s eyes when they made eye contact once.
v. In Seoul, Taekyu accepts the simpler life and excels in it, developing skills like cooking and a love for cleaning. Reflecting on it now, he thinks his age played a major part in this; the versatility of changing lifestyles being a skill that’s lost over time. When his brother becomes a trainee, Taekyu can’t help but feel almost bitter about it, bitter only in the sense that people he doesn’t know get to spend more time with his brother than he does.
vi. Envy begins to spread in Taekyu’s mind and he begins to practice skills such as dancing and singing, taking vocal lessons before going through the public audition manner of DS Media. Following in the exact footsteps of his brother isn’t the best idea he’s had, seeing as for a while that’s all he was known as; “Ezra’s brother,” but he’s made a name for himself for his charm and charisma - or at least he hopes he has.
Taekyu’s an energy pill, plain and simple. He seems to have unlimited amounts of energy and it appears as if nothing can tire him out. A happy virus adequately explains him as his optimistic attitude and personality never fails to evoke a smile. Bubbly and bright is how Taekyu wants to be seen.
To those a bit closer, maybe friends as opposed to his older brother, Taekyu has a dry sense of humour, sarcastic and in some aspects pessimistic about his position in the company. No not a trainee, he loves it, but as Ezra’s brother. It’s not unusual for him to complain about it and he’s sure he bores people to tears but it just irritates him so much. He often states that, when he debuts, he’ll be an equal (if not better) performer than his brother because that bubbly personality is gonna have it’s perks.
Taekyu loves the rivalry. He lives and breathes for drama anyway so a rivalry between three companies? Sign him up. But that’s all it is for him - the drama. Does he want to be hated just for debuting under his company? Not really, nor does he want to be forced to appear to hate others because of their company. He just really, really, loves the drama, so much so he checks dispatch daily just in case the rivalry can intensify.

Episode Seven/The Finale Aired March 16th, 2017, on MNet. It was a live event.
With the finale finally here, and being broadcast across the nation live, it seemed the entire nation was holding it’s breath to see who would make the final group. Live voting was integrated into the finale, with viewers being able to text in last-minute votes all through the episode, until the group number.
The finale began with a montage-- a video of all 25 trainees, and the eliminations one by one-- before the host came out and welcomed the live audience, outlining how you could vote last minute. Then the format of the show was outlined-- one by one, the trainees would perform. Their final confessional would be broadcast, they’d talk a little with the host, and then a clip of their closest friends/their family cheering them on and wishing them well would be played for them to see.
Being the trainee in ninth place, Raein went first. He performed his song with Yoora, and then his confessional played, with a montage of his best moments throughout the show-- particularly his kindness and sweetness despite some of the nastiness some of the other trainees showed him, and his close friendship with Eunsung. The family member they interviewed over video chat was Raein’s mother, who wished him well tearfully, and cheered him on.
Next was Ren, performing his song and then watching his confessional before his interview. Instead of family, a trainer who was close to him was interviewed instead.
Sang went third, performing his song with  before his confessional and interview happened. His family clip was without a doubt the most emotional to happen yet-- his twin sister and only living blood relative had sent in a video, and both Sang and his sister were in tears as it happened.
Sey was next. After all the usual proceedings-- emphasis being put on his dance skill, as his attitude throughout the competition hadn’t been the best-- a video clip of his old mentor and current Radioactive choreographer, Eliza Kim, was broadcast.
Next up came Taekyu. His video showed his struggle between focusing on himself, and living up to his family’s name. His video contained his mother, but then a surprise video was added at the end; throughout the competition, the bond between Taekyu and previous season contestant Jeo Seyeon was made clear, and she sent in a video for him too. She puts emphasis on how proud she is, and Taekyu becomes emotional.
After Taekyu came Jooheon. Her performance was followed by the montage and confessional. Videos from all four of his sisters are played, and they all have nothing but good things to say about and to him.
Seohyung was the third last to go, performing his song. His montage was shown, and then videos from his family were broadcasted; Seohyung looks a little surprised to see them.
Kiyoung is second to last, and his montage is full of late hours-- cuts of him sneaking out of the dorm to practice long after the others have gone to sleep and him up in his dorm bed, thinking. His video is full of him trying to prove that he’s not just a pretty face-- he can sing too. His video from his parents is short but sweet.
Finally is Eunsung (as he was first place after Episode Six). His montage is a lot of hard work and him being hard on himself, but there are a lot of sweet cuts of him looking out for Raein and taking care of him. His video comes from his parents, and it seems to hit him hard. It takes a minute for him to collect himself.
The host reveals that voting is now closed. Montages of the best performances of the show are played, along with final cuts of all nine trainees. And then all nine-- the five who were eliminated in the previous episode-- perform Arario.
After the group performance, the host is given a card with the final rankings, and he reads them from #1 first, and #7 last.
Eunsung is ranked first, but that is no surprise-- he was first place for the majority of the competition. Taekyu, however, comes second, and is very tearful and happy as he joins Eunsung onstage.
Next comes Jooheon and Kiyoung, and it is revealed that before the finale, they were almost tied.
Fifth is Seohyung, and he gets a big round of applause from the audience-- besides Raein, it seems as though he’s a big fan favorite.
Sixth is Ren. He seems like he’s in shock a little, and Jooheon has to help pull him over to the rest of the group.
Sey and Sang look downright petrified, but when Sey is announced as the last member of the group, he looks apologetic, and has whispered conversation with the other two before Raein gives him a hug and ushers him off to the others. Raein gives Sang a hug too, and both join the eliminated trainees just offstage as the host announces that the group will be named Creed. Their first single is said to already have music, lyrics and choreography-- they will be recording it and learning it in the next few days, along with getting styled and taking promo photos, before they debut on March 19th.
The host says that the first single is produced by MNet producers, however the big three plus Alpha will take turns producing their next four songs-- Radioactive first, then DS, Spotlight, and finally Alpha. He also announces the release of a two-disk Official Idol Project Season 2 CD that will come out shortly after their debut.
Points spreadsheet can be found -- Creed Page can be found HERE. Dorm Arrangements can be found HERE.
