caught up in dreams (of you)

summary: Any other time Gally would retort, but he barely registers the gibe. He makes a small half-hearted laugh, then raises his head to pin his friend with a look. “I just… get the funny feeling that I’m not actually dreaming, you know?”

The frown returns on Jeff’s face, then immediately changes to inquisitiveness. Elbows on his knees, he leans forward, wetting his lips and asking in an almost awed whisper, “You think they’re, like, memories?”

I know that it might sound more than a little crazy, but...

Gally wakes up thinking about killzone.

He hasn’t a lick of what it means, but it’s what Stephen keeps telling him about in his strange… dream. Gally thinks Stephen actually explained it, but he was too pre-occupied watching Stephen’s eyes to register anything beyond the words killzone and maze. The conversation, the surrounding, the other people that may or may not be loitering around are never vivid when Gally wakes, but Stephen’s face always is. His touch, the sound of his voice. He’s the one thing that Gally’s allowed to keep.

Making his way to the med-jack hut, Gally tries to replay the scene. It couldn’t have been longer than a few minutes, he thinks. But every time he gets the dream, it always seems to drag on for hours like they’re sitting on air until it abruptly ends, and everything evaporates but the memory of Stephen. Gally even starts retaining… feelings.

The first time he dreamt of Stephen, he remembers glowering throughout the ordeal, staying as far away as possible. Stephen patiently and monotonously introduced himself as subject A2 and told him about the puzzle he was designing for the doctors and if Gally was interested to see the initial draft? Gally curtly declined him; called him something he couldn’t recall. But Stephen proceeded to tell him about the man in the train station who lost his ticket without missing a beat while spreading tools and papers onto the table for Gally to fiddle with. The next time, Stephen smiled, and though Gally was taken aback and annoyed by the surprising shift in demeanor, he felt less suspicious and more... curious. Gally wordlessly picked up the materials Stephen brought and listened while the boy repeated the same story from before. He even offered his hand to shake and told Gally his name at the end of the session. The more he dreams of Stephen, the more he becomes comfortable, and eventually, he starts wishing for nightfall to meet Stephen in his dream again. Gally knows it’s stupid – that the people who put them in the Glade are behind this and only part of their game – but it doesn’t quash his desire to talk to Stephen. Three years of doing the same routine to maintain the graces – the monthly supplies, the occasional acquiescence of personal requests, safety from the Grievers – getting to have Stephen in his sleep on top of everything is a luxury.

When Gally enters the med-jack hut, Jeff is squatted over a box of supplies and counting each item. He looks up and nods to Gally once before muttering something under his breath and tallying data on his parchment. When the scribbling stops, he puts down the parchment and turns to Gally.

“Hey,” he heads over to Gally's stool and lowers himself across from him. “What’s up? New injuries?”

Gally looks up from where he’s busy rubbing the inside of his left wrist. The ghost of Stephen’s touch still lingers even now that Gally’s back in the physical world. “I had a dream last night,” is all Gally needs to say. Jeff pauses for a second before straightening up and nodding. Jeff is the only one that knows. Clint, the other med-jack, doesn't know. Gally isn’t comfortable with others knowing about Stephen – Jeff is already one too many, in his opinion. But the first few dreams rattled Gally, and he had to tell Jeff if he wanted help. At first, Jeff requested sleeping draughts because Gally had insisted he only needed to sleep like the dead for it to go away. It worked for a total of one night because the dream was back in the next. Jeff requested a blend to keep Gally awake next, but it only made Gally insomniac. Unable to sleep at night and irritable in the morning and funnily enough, all the more cognizant of Stephen’s existence in his head. It distracted Gally too much sometimes to do anything else. The other Gladers were starting to wonder, even worry of his odd behavior.

So, Jeff stopped requesting drugs. Instead, he offered to listen to Gally whenever he dreams of him. And that's surprisingly enough.

Gally continues, “He keeps reiterating about this killzone .”

Jeff draws his brows together, “Did he say what it means?”

“I think he tried,” Gally huffs and shrugs. “But you know I barely understand a shucking thing when he starts spouting more than five words at a time.”

Jeff snorts, “Fair. Anything else?”

Gally rubs his left wrist again, lowering his eyes thoughtfully. Gally debates saying his next words, but he knows if he doesn’t tell Jeff, it’s only going to distract him all day.

“I think…” he starts, looking at the place on his wrist where he remembers Stephen’s thumb had pressed. Maybe if he focuses enough, he can trace the actual size of that finger and leave it there like a brand. Gally mentally shakes his head. “My mind is full of clunk.”

Jeff grins, “You only noticed that now?”

Gally laughs drily. He stretches his legs in the space between them and crosses his arms. Wryly, he replies, “If I was half as smart as Stephen, I would know how to answer that.”

Jeff purses his lips, nodding to that. “Is Stephen, you know,” he gestures between them. “like us?”

It hasn’t occurred to Gally to think about that, but picking up on the few details he can remember in his dreams of the boy, he makes a quick conclusion and shakes his head honestly. “I don’t think he is.”

“So, what’s he, then?”

It’s a moment before Gally speaks again - almost like he doesn't mean to say it out loud. He stands up with a sigh, preparing to start his day with the usual routine. “He’s someone I want to keep.”

“Gally.”

It takes more than a few blinks and shaking of the head before Gally’s vision clears from the fog that usually signals the beginning of his dream. When he’s able to focus on a figure, Stephen appears in his line of view, frantic and panicked.

“Gally,” Stephen calls again, holding both Gally’s shoulders and looking over his shoulder in a clear display of unease. Gally tries to look over Stephen’s shoulder as well, but he can only see a blur of nothingness. Stephen looks back at him, and Gally only realizes that he’s not seated but crouching low and harried. Like any second, Stephen intends to bolt out to the exit... wherever it is.

“Stephen?”

Stephen releases his hold on Gally’s shoulder and grips his wrists instead. The pressure makes Gally look at their point of connection. But with a soft tug, Gally brings his attention back to Stephen a second later.

Stephen wets his lips, asks, “I don’t have much time. Remember I’ve been telling you about the maze?”

Gally frowns, “The puzzle? Killzone?”

Stephen nods, bringing two fingers at his own temple. “This is the killzone, remember? This is what they want to study when they put you into the maze.”

His frown deepens, “Put me in the maze?”

Stephen looks anguished, “It is almost your time, Gally. In a few hours, you won’t remember me.”

Gally’s chest begins to thud for an entirely different reason as he scrutinizes Stephen's behavior. Something is crawling up his spine, and he doesn’t like the feeling. It’s even worse than when he first met Stephen. “Why won’t I remember you? What are you going to do to me?” Gally’s voice starts to rise, and Stephen hurries to hush him.

Stephen looks behind him again as if afraid someone might burst into the room with them. When he looks back, there’s pleading in his brown eyes. “Gally, you have to trust me. They don’t know I’ve been talking to you – at least, not about things unrelated to the maze.”

“Who’s ‘they’?” Gally demands, but he mindfully keeps his voice down.

Stephen shakes his head, “It doesn’t matter,” he rubs circles around Gally’s wrist, and even though Gally has half a mind to retract from the contact, Stephen’s touch always roots him to the spot, silently wishing for it to never stop. Even now, when Stephen isn’t being entirely truthful to him. “I have…” Stephen pauses to swallow. “I have made alterations in your memory code. I don’t know how long it would take or if it would work at all. But if you gain these memories before I come up to the maze, remember everything I told you.”

Gally is confused, to say the least. But before he can open his mouth to voice his frustration, Stephen goes on. “Never go into the maze, Gally. Stay in the Glade. Remember the dioramas you made? You’re skillful with your hands; take advantage of that and keep yourself safe for as long as it takes me to come for you.”

Gally’s vision begins to lose focus, and Stephen’s face becomes hazy. “I will follow soon, okay? I’m not supposed to, but I’ll find a way. You have to trust me. I know how to set us free. You don’t belong to this game. Don’t…” Stephen audibly swallows. “Don’t let them use you against me.”

Gally forces his eyes to stay open, knowing once he closes them, he will wake up from his dream. He doesn’t want to yet. He can't go without knowing what's causing distress on Stephen.

But there’s sudden pounding pain in both of his temples, then all over his head in a matter of seconds. There's always an uncomfortable itch towards the end of his dreams, but he’s never felt this intensity before and knows immediately something is going horribly wrong. Like his head is being cracked open, and something is being forcefully plucked from his brain. The pain is so sharp, and he thinks he’s screaming, crying in agony, but he can't.

Gally's hearing fragments of the conversation; the corners of his vision steadily darkening. He knows that though Gally in his dream seems to be holding up, the real Gally will soon be waking up.

Before he completely loses the dream, he feels the circling of Stephen's thumb around his wrist and hears his voice one last time.

“- the only one who knows my real name, Gally… next time we meet… Thomas. I am Thomas.”

Gally wakes up thinking about shucking headaches.

But when he’s fully conscious, the pain is all over. Did he dream it all, then? But why had it felt so real? What the clunk is happening to him? Exhaling loudly, he sits upright on his cot.

As soon as his feet hit the ground, the familiar grinding of metal announces the ascent of The Box. It’s that time of the month again.

With one last sigh, Gally stands and makes his way out.

He reaches it just in time for The Box to open. Down there, a new greenie is looking up at him and the other boys that have gathered, long limbs scrambling to hide in a corner. Gally smirks. At least he knows this.

He hops into the box, bends low, and the split-second when their eyes first meet, Gally jolts back. He doesn’t understand what prompts his reaction, but it’s gone the next second before he can ponder further. Clearing his head of the momentary lapse, he displays the smug smile full force again.

“Day one, Greenie. Rise and shine.”

After going after a lead to follow up on some missing kids Stiles disappears. Only after capturing a possible culprit the team is sent to a lab performing test on the missing kids, finding Stiles among them. Unable to unlink Stiles, Derek goes into the Maze to wake him up, only there's an issue. Stiles thinks his name is Thomas and he refuses to go anywhere with Derek, leaving the wolf to stay in. He leaves his hope in the hands of Scott and the pack, he just has to keep them alive.

Something About The Upcoming BATIM First Anniversary

Now that's a title I can go with. Including just took out the word something at first but had to think of a title that makes sense.

Anyway yeah on February 10th it will be the first anniversary of Bendy And The Ink Machine. Including months ago I because a fan officially well I did try to yet at first didn't play the game but now I have.

I've talked about it on my blog and reblogged some stuff. Even drew a little drawing of Bendy The Dancing Demon himself

Including on one of my posts I teased a upcoming fake movie meme about a game with it's first anniversary coming up but didn't say the name.

Basically that was Bendy And The Ink Machine. Including fake movie memes are well this fun thing I've seen. I've even made some long ago. Along with I had ideas mainly for video game ones like Doom 2016 mainly, Outlast I remembered a bit, new fake movie memes of the FNAF series with new actors and stuff. Also remembering other ideas like Killzone 1 and 2, with a remade version of my Titanfall 2 one. Even long ago some Sonic ones or mainly one Adventure 2 but this was old casting ideas and that shit is difficult.

Yet as of now and I'll be honest and did notice I'm making a post of this yet just I want to talk about it.

I've been lazy as fuck okay. Including stalling and forgetting yet keep remembering that February 10th is gonna come soon. Along with I didn't take advantage of the week I was alone. I thought maybe a day before the anniversary I can make it.

Basically this fake movie meme would be like my gift to the fandom for that anniversary.

Yet so some things.

Even on my gaming computer and it's sleeping now because it needs to install Modern Warfare 2, and even my laptop I wanted to check that because I forgot. None of my computers have globe flash whatever.

To be honest I'm paranoid of downloading that. Along with just....okay this thought process I might not wanna do that ether.

Including I might just make a little drawing of Bendy. Yet even mentioning the anniversary is good enough. It's something I wanted to make special.

Along with I seem to have this thing I don't wanna say obsessed but very interested in the idea of video game movies mainly adapted upon my favorites in a era where they could be good. Yet it depends I mean we still have problems. Seriously we have a Tomb Raider reboot coming out still haven't seen the 2nd trailer, a Rampage movie which I'm really looking forward to. I know Slenderman isn't really a video game character. Yet I kind of see the new film almost like that. Considering how big The Eight Pages, and Slender The Arrival we're. Also we have John Cena while not confirmed. Basically a Duke Nukem film might be made with John Cena as Duke.

Theirs more basically such as the Mario film by Illumation yes I know about that it seems cool. The FNAF movie which is still in development. Then that Call Of Duty cinematic universe crap I don't mind the idea when I say crap I use certain words but my problem is when is production gonna start.

Then the big one for me that Sonic The Hedgehog film next year by Paramount. Which I'm exicted yet terrified or whatever including I've been going insane thinking of that movie, my own fan made stuff in my head, the future, and any news on the film.

I feel I might of missed some. But also some are in long developed that's the thing.

Yet I got off topic. Basically I'm not gonna work on a fake movie meme for Bendy And The Ink Machine and maybe no more. Okay listen maybe I don't want to. Also fear of installing that crap.

Also another reason the future of video game movies being on my mind and why I'm excited is when I fan cast.

I'll reveal this and seriously most of my fan castings are for movies based upon video games.

But well Mark Ruffalo was gonna be Henry. The character you play as in the game. Including I've had that fan casting last year. Also he's 50 now and Henry is theorized to be in his 50's now 59 oh my sorry typos.

Theirs also this exuse the game isn't finished yet but even if I made the fake movie meme I would mention that but fuck it.

So. When she posted the first chapter of The Arrangement, I knew it would become my favorite thing in the world. I can’t really convey how perfect her work is but, God, her stories are always so beautifully and well-written, Dean’s characterization is always on point and the plot is sooo good. She can make me cry and laugh and die from Dean’s cuteness all at once and I can’t even stay mad at her because she’s that talented. She’s just awesome, alright?

Really, anything by her is amazing. I still remember how I came across Jess’s writings; she was included in the same fic-rec post I was included for one of my stories and I decided to go check her out because you can never follow enough SPN blogs, right? Summer Fling is so special because it deals with some very heavy stuff in the most appropriate way possible (and includes the sweetest possible version of D.W.) and Where It All Began is one of the first stories I read before I joined tumblr and it gave me feels.

Reading fics written by Kazzy is like reading a book. She made me cry with all of the fics mentioned above and I’m not even mad because the end was so absolutely worth it. Again, I’m simply in awe of the talent of this wonderful woman and have been inspired by her multiple times to become a better writer. I carry Riptide and Lucky Penny in my heart and I’m not even kidding. 

Also @sebastianshoe is one of the most wonderful and hard-working writers in here. She works on requests mostly and has so many beautiful fics not only for SPN but also for Sherlock and many other fandoms and I hope to turn her into a Dean girl one day.

Heart of a Hunter @muchamusedaboutnothing- Starting with the first chapter of Act I, I was drawn in. It is a very well thought out series and keeps my full attention. I look forward to more of this series!

Summer Fling (link to part 1) @supernatural-jackles - I was hooked from the aesthetic. I am always amazed at how well you bring your characters to life, Jen. I was captivated with the first chapter, then reading it all again from Dean’s POV almost makes it an entirely new story.
