Pit, the Dawn Guardian

Pit is the youngest of the Guardians and made to protect Palutena and the Lifelight. He is the most impulsive of the trio and was the first to be cloned by Cereza and Akira. Pit’s loyalty to his fellow Guardians and Goddess is matched by no other being in this universe. He is incredibly trusting, which can lead him to be manipulated, especially after losing his powers and living a human life on Earth. But despite this, Pit’s wrath is no match for anyone who harms those he is close to.

Kid Icarus fans have been making the same four jokes for over a decade. "Pit never learned how to read lol" Bush league. Amateur hour. I raise you: PALUTENA never learned how to read. She never bothered because she can just parse information directly with goddess magic, which is why she never taught him. She would also rather die than admit this. Any time he asks her to teach him she panics and has to think of an adventure to send him on that'll distract him and make him forget for a year

Probably one of the funniest Kid Icarus jokes I've ever come across had Pit asking if Santa was real, with Palutena's answer being "Not yet, (some Roman emperor who reigned between 80-270 CE) is still in charge" and I haven't been able to stop thinking of it ever since

It had one of the most well-stocked arcades in town, a varied menu of sweets, and a creative, colorful, admittedly-slightly-uncanny assortment of animatronic attractions.

Before Pit's inclusion into Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and subsequently KI: Uprising, I had the impression of Pit being a tough and stern little fellow, maybe even a bit of a grump, as his art in KI and KI: OM&M depicted him as such a serious or grumpy-faced angel (OM&M Pit only smiles on his cover art) and because of the Intimidation mechanic in KI. In some of his cameo appearances, such as F-1 race, he has a frown on his face. I still imagined him as being valiant and kind; he just really takes his job seriously, and may possibly be over-compensating for his disability. I saw him as being kind of the "straight man" in a such a goofy world full of Eggplant Wizards and Specknoses, with the gods being the strange, quirky folks he always has to put up with.

I actually pictured Palutena being the more light-hearted and ditzy one, who would tease Pit if only to try and get him to ease up and not be so serious. I saw Pit as being a worry wart who'd remind Palutena of proper protocol, or of any appointments or duties she has, with Palutena always having a more relaxed and care-free demeanor. They very much care for and adore each other, but I pictured Pit on more than one occasion being like, "I love this woman to death, but she's the reason I'm molting, I swear!" XD

I can easily see a short where Palutena pretty much forces Pit to take a vacation because the poor angel really needs it, but he's hesitant because one: who is going to take over his many duties while he's gone, and two: he knows Palutena too darn well to leave her alone for long! Of course, when he returns home Palutena is struggling to hide the latest disaster she's responsible for!

We do see some of this in the Japanese version of KI:U, especially the Japanese version of "Palutena's Revolting Dinner," and I love it!

I was thinking of my fic and thought it was pretty amusing how I asked myself the question of "If Pit was associated with an actual ancient Greek city, which one he would be from?", and without hesitation answered Tegea.

Like not Athens, Sparta, Knossos, Mycenae, Corinth, Thebes, Olympia or any place that people would actually think of if presented this question... Just this weird Arcadian city.

the thing i remember most about that game was the hydra whose heads kept bickering with each other

Oh yeah! The only lines I remember from them is after Pit says "I am not a piece of meat!" and the heads reply:

"What did you say?"

"Technically you are."

"Just come a little closer!"

And I just love how they bicker and it's easy to tell each one of them have different personalities. It's so cool that dependent on the order you kill them in, the midboss and boss of the level changes! Adds a lot of replayability!

I've been a Kid Icarus fan since I was little, but only got to actually play Kid Icarus Uprising like... 4 years ago? Maybe? Which seems like a long time ago but I'd been a fan since Uprising came out and Chuggaaconroy played it.

Pit's a little blorbo of mine, even though I don't think abt him as much as my other blorbos cause of the lack of KI content. I used to have so many scenarios and stuff for him as a kid. (Mostly including Sonic. Huh.) He was my Smash Brawl main too!

In KI:U my main weapon is these Raptor Claws I got from my first ever online match that carried me through the whole game! They've got lots of nifty abilities like extra speed, paralysis and something else I forgot! Despite me almost finishing the game they've been my weapon forever! Also shaped me towards the close combat playstyle!
