Broke my no red meat streak cos my momma wanted to eat this hyped #roastduck. #kamsroast SG has no goose cos goose is not allowed import to SG. It's really quite good but also the queue is quite insane. The #ibericopork is really fatty and awesome but I think my arteries are clogged. You should go try yourself! (at Kam's Roast)

On Saturday, excellent roads meats for lunch. This isn't the same style as my favourite roast duck in London (oh Hai New Fortune Cookie, how I miss thee) but was nonetheless very good. #kamsroast #roastduck #travel #singapore #foodphotography #foodstagram #foodporn #vscocam #instafood #yummy #Instagood #Igers #lunch #foodpic #foodpics #huawei #nexus6P (at Kam's Roast)

Michelin-Starred Kam’s Roast Opens Today at SM Megamall
The much-awaited opening of the country’s first Michelin-starred roast duck restaurant is happening today. Expect long lines of foodies and roast duck aficionados waiting for their turn as Kam’s Roast Philippines finally opens its doors at the third level of Mega Fashion Hall in SM Megamall. Prepare to meet royalty as the magnificent and succulent roasted duck from this Hong Kong institution makes its way to our dining tables after more than a year.
The first Kam’s Roast restaurant in the Philippines is a testament to how the foodie scene in Manila is deliciously expanding. FooDee Global Concepts continues to make waves as it brings another Michelin Star restaurant to the country, together with its all-star lineup of international franchises including Tim Ho Wan, Tsuta, Todd English, and more. I love roasted goose and roasted duck, which is why I also line up at my favorite restaurants in Hong Kong serving these rich and flavorful roastings. However, I have not actually tried Kam’s Roast yet, so I was really excited to have my first taste of this multi-awarded duck during the media preview at Kam’s Roast a few days ago. So how was it? Let’s find out.
Kam’s Roast is an internationally-acclaimed restaurant from Hong Kong which has garnered a Michelin star, the ultimate recognition in the restaurant circle, for the past four years. Coming from the family behind the Yung Kee Restaurant with a culinary heritage that spans 75 years, third generation Hardy Kam opened Kam’s Roast Goose in Hong Kong and garnered his first Michelin Star after just four months of operations.
While some foodies may be disheartened to find out that Kam’s Roast Philippines will not be serving roasted goose because of strict importation controls due to Avian Flu, the restaurant will be offering their roasted duck which they say is just as delicious taste-wise compared to their slightly bigger cousins. I was saddened to hear this myself, but the sight of these glistening ducks hanging on the counter made me forget all about it. Take note that the Singapore branch of Kam’s Roast does not offer roasted goose as well.
Kam’s Roast comes with a casual but elegant dining ambiance which is suited for this area inside the mall. It is definitely an upgrade over the interiors of Hong Kong roasting restaurants. The place is not that big, with a capacity of around 70 guests, so expect to see some lines during the first few weeks after the opening.
Sitting proudly at the center is the family caricature which is present in all Kam’s Roast restaurants worldwide. Kam’s Roast Goose was established by the family to commemorate their beloved late grandfather, Mr. Kam Shui Fai, who started Yung Kee Restaurant in 1942 which later became a successful and internationally acclaimed restaurant.
As the third generation, Kevin and Hardy Kam are committed to provide customers with a memorable dining experience in a warm family oriented environment. They also intend to introduce Kam’s Roast beyond Hong Kong and to bring the family’s renowned roast meats to other countries. The Philippines is actually the first franchise awarded outside of Hong Kong, since their Singapore outlet is actually company-owned. More new international branches will be opening in the coming years.
There are also two private dining rooms at the end of the restaurant with round tables for up to 12 persons. These two rooms can be combined for bigger groups.
Our sneak preview got off to a good start with their Homemade Barley (P70) which can be served hot or cold. Get the cold version with its sweet and refreshing blend. Otherwise, hot tea, sodas, beers, or a glass of Iced Tea (P70) would be the other options.
I never thought I would enjoy eating cucumber, until I had their Marinated Cucumber with Vinegar and Garlic (P220). This is just one of their healthy appetizers which diners probably need to balance all the rich and indulgent roastings. The toasted garlic flavors really stand out and goes well with the crunchy cucumbers.
The Marinated Tofu (P200) is a more subtle starter with its silky smooth tofu that tastes clean and light. You can also go for the Poached Hong Kong Kai Lan (P240) which is a popular Chinese vegetable usually prepared with oyster sauce.
They also have a few soup dishes like the Wanton Soup (P280) which come with six pieces of wonton dumplings. This is just my own serving but the regular order is much bigger.
The main attraction at Kam’s Roast are, of course, the roasted meats. While they may not be able to offer their roasted goose, hopefully just for now, we can still have the next best thing as they feature their signature roasted duck.
This beautiful plate of Roasted Duck is what everyone will be lining up for when Kam’s Roast opens today. I was delighted to see that they made their prices quite affordable, especially for a Michelin-starred brand. The Roast Duck Rice (P320) comes with a generous serving of roasted duck served on a bed of steaming Thai Jasmine rice and plum sauce on the side. Bigger groups can order a plate for sharing. A 1/4 order of roasted duck costs P750 for the upper portion and P900 for the lower portion of the duck. A half order costs P1500 (pictured above), while a whole order is P2800.
The duck has that juicy and savory taste that can only be found in this poultry. There is a good amount of fat underneath that glorious skin which is how it should be. Kam’s Roast follows the strictest and highest quality standards for their prized commodity, which is what you expect from this brand. They only use foreign-bred ducks which are raised in Davao by a specialized poultry farm with very strict protocols, including controlling the duck’s living space to maintain their pristine skin. The ducks are flown in to Manila daily and prepared for each day’s servings. All the marinades and sauces are flown in from Hong Kong to keep the level of quality and taste Kam’s Roast is known for. So while I still prefer the taste of roasted goose, their roasted duck is probably the next best thing you can get here in the country.
Instead of rice bowls, there is also an option to have the Roast Duck Noodles (P350) and diners can choose to have the roasted duck on top of noodle soup or on top of dry noodles on a plate.
Other roasted meats you can find include the Soya Chicken Rice (P200) which you can also order in Half (P500) or Whole (P980) servings. The familiar taste of light soy sauce gives this Cantonese dish a comforting flavor.
Pork lovers will rejoice with the Crispy Pork on Rice (P300) which is served with a unique mustard sauce. The crunchy skin crackles with every bite and the mustard sauce gives it a sharp contrast and a new way of eating this dish. You can also order the Crispy Roast Pork (P700) for a bigger serving.
But the biggest surprise for me that afternoon was actually the BBQ Pork Char Siu (P600) and the Toro Char Siu BBQ Pork Belly (P700). I have never tasted barbecue pork as tender, flavorful, and smoky as these two variants. The pork is perfectly smoked giving it a charred, caramelized skin that just oozes with aroma and flavors. The toro char siu really blew me away with its melt-in-your-mouth goodness. I believe diners will go to Kam’s Roast for the roasted duck, but the Toro Char Siu is what will truly make them come back. Solo diners can also get the BBQ Pork Rice (P260).
Kam’s Roast is another Michelin star restaurant that has proudly made its way to the Philippines for all foodies to enjoy. It has taken a long time, but we can now finally experience their signature roasted duck without having to fly all the way to Hong Kong. Congratulations to Eric Dee and FooDee Global Concepts for another successful new franchise!

First came the duck, then a plethora of golden flakes was showered upon it. Now, it’s marinated with what could be the most underrated yet most treasured commodity in China- Chenpi or dried tangerine skin. The Executive Chef of @kamsroast_sg , Chef Wong Kwan Sang even revealed that Chenpi was more expensive and valuable back in Hong Kong and China then a vintage bottle of wine! I don’t know about you guys, but i’m getting my leftover tangerines skins safely into a ziplock bag and aging them for the next few years to come! @kamsroast_sg has come up with it’s latest version of their highly coveted roasted duck, the Pipa Duck (S$78++) that has been marinated with a 23-year aged chenpi sauce and then roasted until it’s perfectly crispy and the sweet essence of the chenpi has been imbued through all the layers of the duck- Skin, fat and meat.(The aroma of the duck will hit your noses even before it hits the table.) Note: Because of the amount of effort required to make this dish, customers will need to order it one day in advance and is available only in limited quantities. #kamsroast #duck #hongkong #instafood #instasg #instahk #pipaduck #chenpi #tangerine #tangerineskin #chef #cheflife #kamgoose #wongkwansang (at Kam's Roast)

Finally tried Kam’s Roast. 🦆 Duck was yummy but roast pork & char siew was a little disappointing. Although it tasted good too, it would be better if charsiew is a bit charred & fat. Same goes to roast pork.. would be better if there are more fats & thicker skin. Anyway, still good. . . #KamsRoast #Dinner #CCSSian #DinnerWithCCSSian #shotbyiphone6splus #iphone6splus #iphone6spluspic #iphone6splususer #multiplephotos

Enjoyed this fatty #torocharsiew with all its lardy goodness and its more savoury marinate which is more HK styled so locals might take a bit to get used to but the juicy fats is what makes this delectable :)) #kamsroast (at Kam's Roast)

Yesterday's dinner was at Kam's Roast - the 1 Michelin star restaurant from Hong Kong! Unfortunately.. no goose due to AVA restrictions (for now) but they have duck instead! Kam's Roast will be officially open tomorrow, 19 Nov 16 at 1pm over at Pacific Plaza just behind Tsuta Ramen so do visit them for lunch! My recommended dishes to order other than the duck will be the Toro Char siew and soya chicken. Damn good!
