I’ve seen a lot of people bring up ”you wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me” with regard to Chappell Roan’s struggle with fame. And while I love that lyric deeply, can I just say, if I see one single person saying that Taylor handling the metaphorical asylum of fame as well as she is for as long as she has makes her better or more deserving of success and praise than someone like Chappell who is openly struggling with it, I am going to shoot someone. Fame is in many ways horrible and nobody should have to go through the kind of shit that Taylor or Chappell have been put through, to say nothing of the even worse things that befell people like Britney or Janet. The ability or inability to handle the dark side of fame gracefully is not a reflection of one’s character or talent.
