Let's focus on...
Tumblr media
We've all seen the above clip hundreds of times from Memories 2021 where JK and Jimin are cozied up sitting in the dressing area getting ready for the PTD online concert back in late 2021. And every time I see this clip, I've always noticed the curious way JK leans his head back when looking at Jimin and my brain finally had to stop for a second and think about why he did/does that.
You know that thing you do when you are trying to focus on something too close so you move your head to get your eyes at a better distance from what you are trying to look at. Kookie was trying to focus on Jiminie's face. It was too close. He's farsighted.
He may not have known it back in 2021 though because we didn't start seeing him really wear eyeglasses until this past year when he was headed to Qatar (I think?). Anyway. Carry on. That's your random post for the day.
P.S. JJK1 IS COMING JULY 14!! and FYI that would be SILVER DAY on the Korean couples calendar.

Are you sure? Silver day
I know I said I'm not going to be doing this by order, but I couldn't help but start with Jikook on Silver day.
So, JK's solo debut was 14 July 2023.
Silver day.
And low and behold, JM flew over to be with him on that day, and for the two of them to set on their CT adventure together.
Why am I bringing all of that up, you ask?
A couple of reasons.
First being that you could argue that basically this weekend trip of theirs was even more significant being on Silver day and the weekend that followed.
But more so to remind that one of the first scenes we get in episode 1 of Are you sure? is of the two of them at dinner at Antoya, where we know they had their lovely dinner on the evening of 13 July (which was basically already 14 July Korea time).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, Silver day and JK's solo debut, and JM and JK not able to spend as much time together as they want and need, they come up with the idea of having a travel show, just the two of them, allowing for them to travel together and at the same time create content for Army while they are away in the army (JM suggests it but we know that both were involved in the back and forth of suggested activities and decisions made as to the what and where).
And we get this Jikook at the restaurant the night before:
Affectionate and caring and touchy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this was them the next morning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I am not going to get into it in this post, but I will say, in a side note, that the talk we got in the car shortly after (some of that talk, which was highly edited) is kind of appropriate to Silver day and what it's all about.

Rloveution= Revolution.
A few days ago I saw a photo of when Jimin and Jungkook went to Tokyo in November, and I kept looking at JK's sweater for some reason, until I realized something.
And that something is that there have been only a few times that we have seen him wear Grafitti on Mind shirts and sweaters (his brother's clothing brand). One of the things I've seen is that Jungkook doesn't wear the graffiti on mind clothing during official BTS content or when he was recording things for his album. He generally uses it in rehearsals, at wlives, and more informal things.
Tumblr media
I want to add that JK wore this shirt in purple the day he sang letter:
Tumblr media
You can tell that JK wants to support his brother, and I'm sure he also likes the designs of the clothes because they are quite comfortable and some are oversized, a style that Jungkook seems to like to wear a lot.
He also wore a shirt with the same "Rloveution" logo during his Seven rehearsals.
Tumblr media
And in general he uses it, as I said before, during informal and calm activities.
I remember that that same day of the Seven rehearsal in New York, Jungkook was seen going to eat with Jimin at a Korean food restaurant, wearing that white shirt with the phrase Rloveution. It should be said that it was July 14, silver day in Korea. (If you don't know what silver day is, I invite you to look up its meaning, but basically, it is a day for couples in Korea)
And the day they were seen at the airport on their way to Japan. (An unforgettable day for me, considering how cute and tender they looked that date)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, what's on my mind is, did Jungkook really wear that cream-colored sweater with the word Rloveution, which was also made by his brother, and which has been taken as support for the LGBTQ+ community, on the same day he was going to traveling with Jimin, to Tokyo, the place where 7 years ago they took their first trip together? I always come into conflict with these things because as has been said in the past, nothing is confirmed, but I think it is also quite ignorant when you think that everything is a coincidence, and that some things are not done with the silent purpose of saying "this is me, and this is what I want." Obviously, this is just a theory, a thought, and shouldn't be taken too seriously, but anyway, if Rloveution has any special meaning for Jungkook, I hope it felt good to be able to wear that sweater that day, or maybe it meant nothing, and I'm just overthinking it.

Note
I just found out that Jimin was wearing the silver bracelet on July 14, which called silver day in Korea, where couples exchange silver accessories.
From what I know or from what I read, on that day couples in Korea usually exchange silver rings. Not bracelets or anything in silver. Rings, which are interpreted as promise rings. So I don't think there's any relation 🧐🧐

Note
Why are antis still debating Jikook being a couple when they were just spotted alone together on white day, a couple holiday? Or how JK posted his first selfie on weverse which was Of him & JM on July 14 which is Silver Day in Korea or JM posting the video of him & JK in matching jackets on Feb 14 Valentine’s Day or JM posting that selfie of him & JK leaving for NY on sept 18 which is national first love day. So if Jikook aren’t a couple why are they celebrating/posting couple holidays together?
literally no clue

Friday Special #14
March 19th, 2021
Hello friendos, and welcome back to another Friday Special!
So with the recent announcement of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl for the Nintendo Switch as well as Pokemon Legends: Arceus, for this episode, we’ll be taking a look into the original titles of Pokemon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum for the DS and how they forever changed the Pokemon world.
Tumblr media
The year is 2004.
The Pokemon movie Destiny Deoxys was just released in Japan and it’s the newest Pokemon movie to be released at that time. The Pokemon anime would  still be in Gen 3 (Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald) for a few more years.
The film features a new Pokemon that was never seen before: Munchlax, who was the first revealed Pokemon for the next Generation, Gen 4 (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heartgold, and Soulsilver).
Munchlax wasn’t the only Pokemon teased before Gen 4′s release, however.
That following year in 2005, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew was released and it prominently featured several new Pokemon to the gaming public such as Lucario, Weavile, Mime Jr., and Bonsly. This now was five new Pokemon revealed to the gaming public.
Then came 2006, the crunch year.
Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea was released and it introduced more new Pokemon in the forms of Mantyke, Buizel, Chatot and the Legendary Manaphy. Also revealed that year were the first of Gen 4 Legendaries Dialga and Palkia for the new games’ box art.
In the end, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl were officially released in Japan on September 28, 2006, in North America on April 22, 2007, in Australia on June 21, 2007 and in Europe on June 27, 2007. Diamond and Pearl would also be the very first Pokemon games to be released in South Korea on Valentine’s Day in 2008, setting the precedent for future Pokemon games to be released in the region.
Tumblr media
Diamond and Pearl were the first Pokemon games not only to begin a new Generation but also on a brand-new console, the Nintendo DS. In order to capitalize on the new system of choice and its capabilities, Diamond and Pearl were the very first Pokemon games to utilize 2.5D graphics (the effect can best be seen in various objects like buildings and the train in the Great Marsh in Pastoria City). Speaking of sprites, new and never-before-seen trainer sprites were added as well to ever-growing list of types of trainers. The list of Pokemon expanded as well, thanks to the addition of 107 new Pokemon exclusive to the Sinnoh region.
As the introduction goes for both games, you are greeted by Professor Rowan and you have the choice of either going as Lucas or Dawn, though the player does have the option to create their name for their chosen character. Their rival, Barry, also can be named by the player like in previous versions.
The game starts with your character watching a broadcast about Johto’s Lake of Rage and its elusive Red Gyarados. You then meet up at Barry’s house, who is also your best friend in addition to being your rival, and the pair go off to Lake Verity to search for Legendary Pokemon. There, you are greeted by Professor Rowan once more along with his assistant and they accidentally leave behind their briefcase and before the pair can retrieve it and return it properly, they are attacked by two random Starly and the player has to pick one out of three Pokemon to fight them with and succeed. Once the battle is concluded, the assistant comes back to retrieve the suitcase, aware of the Pokemon being used and leaves the pair with their new chosen companions. Back home, the player’s mother gives them a pair of Running Shoes to traverse faster across the land and instructs them to meet with the Pokemon Professor in Sandgem Town. Upon arriving, Prof. Rowan bestows upon you the Pokedex, sending you on a quest to retrieve data for the Pokedex of every Pokemon in Sinnoh.
Thus, the Adventure begins.
In the games, you face Battles, attain Gym Badges and work your way to defeating the Elite Four as well as the Pokemon League Champion. Along the way, you have to defeat Team Galactic, an evil organization who want to erase the entire universe in order to create a new, more perfect universe, and they need the power of the Legendaries in order to accomplish this massive and frightening goal. By defeating them, your home region of Sinnoh, and the universe at large, will be safe.
Some of the features to make a comeback in a newer fashion was the day/night system first introduced in Gen 2 (Gold, Silver, and Crystal), Pokemon Contests from Gen 3 (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Leaf-Green and Fire-Red) and even a new battle system which allowed for a more versatile set of moves for a Pokemon but ran into trouble with older fans as the attacks were now labeled as either physical or special instead of just by type alone.
The pair of games were met with commercial and critical success upon release with particular praise being given to the soundtrack, story, the inclusion of Wi-Fi, the voice chat function. Unfortunately, it landed criticism with the graphics with IGN being quoted as saying “everything still has that Game Boy look to it” (Which in retrospect made the games more appealing as they still appeared timeless without looking too dated). Famitsu gave it a 35 out of 40.
With this massive success, there was a growing need to continue the Generation.
In response, Game Freak created Pokemon Platinum, an enhanced version of the Diamond and Pearl.
Tumblr media
Pokemon Platinum was released in Japan and Taiwan on September 13, 2008, in North America on March 22, 2009, in Australia on May 14, 2009, and in South Korea on July 2, 2009. Like its predecessors, it also received high praise, and was both commercially and critically successful.
There were a few notable differences between the original Diamond and Pearl versions and Platinum:
On the TV in Twinleaf Town, instead of a special about the Red Gyarados, the special instead talks about Prof. Rowan’s arrival back to Sinnoh from Kanto.
The outfits of the main characters change to be more suited to a colder environment.
Instead of recovering a suitcase in the forest and fighting Starly, you meet up with Prof. Rowan and receive your Pokemon at that time.
The sprites of important Trainers (like Gym Leaders or the Pokemon League) have their own individual animations like the Pokemon do.
Instead of facing either Dialga/Palkia depending on the version, your Legendary Battle will be with Giratina instead and it will be down in the Distortion World (more on that in a moment).
Platinum also expanded on previously introduced features such as:
Allowing up to 20 people at one time in the Wi-Fi Plaza (it was only a few people before)
Allowing your starter Pokemon to be admitted into Amity Square in Hearthrome City (in Diamond and Pearl, only a select number of “cute” Pokemon were considered)
Players can now challenge other Trainers in certain Pokemon Centers (first game in the mainline series to do this)
Faster animations with HM Moves such as Surf and during Battles
to name a few.
In regards to new Pokemon, 59 Pokemon were added to the Sinnoh Pokedex, rounding the number of entries to 210, including Legendary Pokemon. Legendary Pokemon like Shaymin were also added and other Pokemon like Rotom were enhanced either with new abilities or new forms.
So about that Distortion World bit from earlier...
For those unfamiliar, the Distortion World is only available in Platinum and it was how the player fought Giratina. The Distortion World level in particular was considered impressive at the time for the Pokemon community as it utilized 2.5D graphics that almost looked 3D.
How did they do this?
They allowed the character to move up walls in order to complete the current level as there were multiple levels.
Here is a video of the entire Distortion World walkthrough (the video is a little gritty as it was published way back in January of 2009 and it’s the original Japanese version):
youtube
At this time, this was considered insane for Pokemon in 2008/9 and it was one of Platinum’s biggest selling points. Although it may look a little dated with today’s newer titles, this the was bridge that connected GBA-styled graphics to more modern 3D ones.
So with that, Generation 4 was well underway and these games, as well as the ones that followed by the names of Heartgold and Soulsilver (a topic for another time), are still remembered fondly by fans to this day.
Thoughts From The Head
When I first got into Pokemon, I got into Pearl, making me a Gen 4 kid. I have very fond memories playing this game with my friends back in elementary school as they either had Pearl like I did or Diamond. When Platinum dropped, it was the hottest game to get on DS and I remember everyone and their mother clamoring to get a copy of it. I never did because I was broke at the time, so I wound up having enough to get a copy of Soulsilver, which I just rediscovered the Pokewalker (remember those?).
I remember the Distortion World bit like it was yesterday. A friend of mine had gotten far enough in the game to get to that point and I remember all of us crowding around behind him and glued to the screen as he traversed into this strange, new world.
We were blown away to say the least.
We also utilized the crap out of those Action Replay devices (which I used to max out both the Sinnoh and the International Pokedexes as well as the inventory), making the Champion Fight with Cynthia almost a breeze with the maxed out Rare Candies we had to boost the levels to Level 100 for the entire party. Now a couple friends of mine had managed to even hack the Platinum game to not get the special event Pokemon like Shaymin and Arceus without the special event in question, they were even able to clone Pokemon as well as steal other Trainers’ Pokemon outright with no issues (still not sure how they pulled those off).
Thanks to the announcements of the Gen 4 remasters and a mutual of mine playing Pokemon Diamond for a YouTube stream via Desmune emulator, I rediscovered my Pearl game and now I’m currently playing my second run! As of this post, I am about to take on Fantine of Hearthrome City so wish me luck!
Here’s the photos of my copy of Pearl!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was in the process of leveling up my Chatot so she ain’t looking too good right now.

Simone Biles
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Simone Arianne Biles (born March 14, 1997) is an American artistic gymnast. Biles is the 2016 Olympic individual all-around, vault and floor gold medalist. She was part of the gold medal-winning team dubbed the "Final Five" at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She also won the bronze medal for the balance beam during the Olympics. Biles is a three-time world all-around champion (2013–15), three-time world floor champion (2013–15), two-time world balance beam champion (2014, 2015), four-time United States national all-around champion (2013–16), and a member of the gold medal-winning American teams at the 2014 and 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
Having won a combined total of nineteen Olympic and World Championship medals, Biles is the most decorated American gymnast, taking over from Shannon Miller, who had held this record since 1996. With her win in Rio, Biles became the sixth woman to have won an individual all-around title at both the World Championships and the Olympic Games. With four Olympic gold medals, Biles set an American record for most gold medals in women’s gymnastics at a single Games.
Personal life
Simone Arianne Biles was born on March 14, 1997, in Columbus, Ohio, the third of four siblings. Her birth mother, Shanon Biles, was unable to care for Simone or her other children – Ashley, Tevin, and Adria – due to her drug and alcohol addiction, and the children were in and out of foster care. Simone's birth father, Kelvin Clemons, abandoned his family, struggled with addictions, and was never present in his daughter’s life. Shanon's father, Ron (Simone's grandfather), and his second wife, Nellie Cayetano Biles, who had two nearly-adult sons, Ron Jr. and Adam, began temporarily caring for Shanon's children in 2000, in the north Houston suburb of Spring, Texas and later in 2003 the couple officially adopted the two youngest children, Simone and Adria, and Ron's sister adopted the two oldest. Ron, Simone's father, is originally from Cleveland, and is a former air traffic controller, who served in the military with the U.S. Air Force at San Antonio's Randolph Air Force Base and later with the Federal Aviation Administration. Nellie, Simone's mother, emigrated from Belize, is a nurse and the former co-owner of a chain of fourteen Texas-based nursing homes.
Simone Biles spent all her secondary education as a homeschooler and graduated in summer 2015. She verbally committed to UCLA on August 4, 2014, announcing her decision on Twitter. She planned to defer enrollment until after the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. On July 29, 2015, she announced that she would turn professional, forfeiting her NCAA eligibility.
Biles is Catholic, and also holds Belizean citizenship through her mother. She refers to Belize as being her second home. Her sister Adria is also a gymnast.
Gymnastics career
Biles first tried gymnastics at 6 years old as part of a day-care field trip. The instructors suggested she continue with gymnastics. Biles soon enrolled in an optional training program at Bannon's Gymnastix. She began training with coach Aimee Boorman at age 8.
Junior2011
Biles began her career on July 1, 2011, at the 2011 American Classic in Houston. She placed third all-around, first on vault and balance beam, fourth on floor exercise, and eighth on uneven bars. Later that month, Biles competed at the 2011 U.S. Classic in Chicago, Illinois, where she placed twentieth all-around, fifth on balance beam and floor exercise.
2012
In 2012, Biles switched from public school to home schooling. The change allowed her to increase her training from approximately 20 hours a week to 32. Biles credited the increased training time with her improved success during the 2012 season.
Biles' first meet of 2012 was again the American Classic in Huntsville, Texas, where she placed first all-around and on vault, tied for second on floor exercise, placed third on balance beam and fourth on uneven bars. Biles' placement in the American Classic secured her spot to compete at the 2012 USA Gymnastics National Championships. She later competed at the 2012 U.S. Classic in Chicago. She finished first all-around and on vault, second on floor exercise, and sixth on balance beam. In June, she made her second appearance at the USA Gymnastics National Championships, this time in St. Louis, Missouri. She finished third all-around, first on vault, and sixth on uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. After this performance, Biles was named to the United States Junior National Team.
Senior2013
Biles' senior international debut was in March at the 2013 American Cup, a FIG World Cup event. She and Katelyn Ohashi were named as replacements for Elizabeth Price and 2012 Olympic gold medalist Kyla Ross, both of whom withdrew from the competition because of injuries. Biles led for two rotations but finished second behind her teammate, Ohashi, after a fall off the beam.
Biles immediately went on to compete at the 2013 City of Jesolo Trophy in Jesolo, Italy, where she took the all-around, vault, balance beam, and floor exercise titles in addition to contributing to the United States' team gold medal. She and the U.S. delegation then competed at an international tri-meet in Chemnitz, Germany, against teams from Germany and Romania. The U.S. again won the team gold. In addition, Biles won the vault, balance beam, and floor titles, but tied for second in the all-around behind Ross after a fall on the uneven bars.
In July, Biles competed at the 2013 U.S. Classic. She performed poorly, falling several times, and did not compete vault after tweaking her ankle on the floor exercise. Afterward, she was invited to a private camp with the national team coordinator, Marta Karolyi, and consulted a sports psychologist. Biles went on to compete at the 2013 USA Gymnastics National Championships in August, where she was crowned the national all-around champion ahead of Ross. Biles also won silver on all four individual events. After the USA Gymnastics National Championships, she was named to the Senior National Team and was invited to the qualifying camp for the 2013 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Texas, where she was named to the World Championships team.
In October, Biles competed at the 2013 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. She qualified first in the all-around, second to the vault final, sixth to the uneven bars final, fifth to the balance beam final, and first to the floor final, making her the first American gymnast to qualify to the all-around and all four event finals since Shannon Miller in 1991. Biles competed cleanly during the women's individual all-around and won the competition with a score of 60.216, almost a point ahead of silver medalist Ross and almost a point and a half better than the bronze medalist, 2010 world all-around champion Aliya Mustafina. Biles became the seventh American woman and the first African-American to win the world all-around title. In event finals, she won silver on the vault, behind defending world champion and Olympic silver medalist McKayla Maroney and ahead of 2008 Olympic gold medalist Hong Un Jong of North Korea; bronze on balance beam, behind Mustafina and Ross; and gold on the floor exercise, ahead of Italy's Vanessa Ferrari and Romania's Larisa Iordache. She finished fourth in the uneven bars final, behind China's Huang Huidan, Ross, and Mustafina.
2014
Biles missed the start of season due to an aggravated shoulder injury, sitting out the 2014 AT&T American Cup and the 2014 Pacific Rim Championships. Biles 2014 debut came at the U.S. Classic in Chicago. She won the all-around by a wide margin and also took first place on vault, beam (tied with Ross), and floor. At the 2014 USA Gymnastics National Championships, Biles repeated as national all-around champion after two days of competition, finishing more than four points ahead of silver medalist Ross, despite a fall from the balance beam during her final routine of the meet. She won the gold on vault and floor, tied for the silver on balance beam with Alyssa Baumann, and finished fourth on the uneven bars. She was once again named to the Senior National Team.
On September 17, Biles was selected to compete at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Nanning, China. She dominated the preliminary round despite a major error on the uneven bars, qualifying in first place to the all-around, vault, beam, and floor finals, in addition to contributing to the U.S. team's first-place qualification into the team final. During the team final, Biles led the United States to its second consecutive world team championship, which they won over the second-place Chinese team by nearly seven points. In the all-around, Biles performed cleanly on all four events, bettering her bars score from qualifications by over a point, and won her second consecutive world all-around title ahead of two good friends, Ross and Iordache. Biles became the second American woman to repeat as world all-around champion, following Miller (1993 and 1994), and the first woman of any nationality to do so since Russia's Svetlana Khorkina (2001 and 2003). She also received extra press when a video of her fleeing from a bee on the podium during the all-around award ceremony went viral. Biles finished behind North Korea's Hong Un Jong in the vault competition, taking her second consecutive silver medal in that event, but went on to win the gold in the balance beam final ahead of China's Bai Yawen and the gold in the floor exercise final, again, ahead of Iordache. This brought her total of World Championship gold medals to six, the most ever by an American gymnast, surpassing Miller's five. After the world championships, she was named one of ESPNW's Impact 25 and chosen as Sportswoman of the Year by the Women's Sports Foundation.
2015
Biles competed at the 2015 AT&T American Cup at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on March 7. She placed first with a score of 62.299, 4.467 points ahead of second-place finisher U.S. teammate Mykayla Skinner. Later that month, Biles was nominated for the James E. Sullivan Award. She ended the month at the 2015 City of Jesolo Trophy, winning the all-around title with 62.100.
On July 25, she competed at the U.S. Classic and finished first in the all-around, ahead of 2012 Olympic all-around champion Gabby Douglas and Maggie Nichols, with a score of 62.400. On the beam, she scored a 15.250 and took first at the event, ahead of Douglas and 2012 Olympic beam bronze medalist Aly Raisman. She scored a 16.050 on the floor and claimed first on the event, 1.050 points ahead of Douglas and also ahead of Nichols and Bailie Key. She had a small hop on her Amanar vault and scored a 16.000. She then scored 15.150 on her second vault, to score an average of 15.575 and place first in the event, ahead of 2014 Worlds vault bronze medalist and teammate MyKayla Skinner, who averaged 14.950. Biles ended on bars and scored a 15.100 to claim the all-around title. She placed fourth in the event behind 2014 Worlds teammate Madison Kocian, Douglas, and Key.
On July 29, shortly after her performance at the U.S. Classic, Biles announced that she would be turning pro, thus forfeiting her chance to compete for the UCLA Bruins gymnastics team. She signed with Octagon, who also supports fellow American gymnast Aly Raisman and Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps. At the 2015 U.S. National Championships, Biles secured her third all-around national title, becoming only the second woman to ever do so, 23 years after Kim Zmeskal (1990, 1991, 1992).
Biles, along with Douglas, Dowell, Kocian, Nichols, Raisman, and Skinner, was selected to represent the United States at the 2015 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Biles once again qualified in first place to the all-around, vault, beam, and floor finals. Her uneven bars score would have qualified her in 8th place to that final as well, but she was excluded, as per the rules, after teammates Kocian and Douglas qualified ahead of her. In team finals, she helped the United States team win their third consecutive gold medal at a World Championships event. During the all-around final, Biles performed below her usual standard, taking a large hop on vault, landing out of bounds on floor (which she stated was a first), and grasping the beam to prevent a fall. However, her final score of 60.399 was more than enough to secure the title with her largest margin of victory yet (over a point ahead of silver medalist Gabby Douglas and bronze medalist Larisa Iordache). With that victory, Biles became the first woman to win three consecutive all-around titles in World Gymnastics Championships history. During day one of event finals, Biles competed on vault, taking bronze behind Maria Paseka (RUS) and Hong Un Jon (PRK). On day two, she competed on balance beam and floor exercise, retaining her world title on both events by large margins. This brought Biles' total World Championships medal count to 14, the most for any American, and total gold medal count to 10, the most for any woman in World Championships history.
As of November 11, 2015, she was a Nike-sponsored athlete – announcing this news through Twitter.
Biles was named Team USA Female Olympic Athlete of the Year in December 2015, making her the fourth gymnast to win the honor.
2016
Biles went into the 2016 season as a fourth-year senior and the reigning National champion. On December 17, 2015, USA Gymnastics announced that she would compete at the 2016 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships, in April 2016 in Everett, Washington.
At her first competition of the year, the Pacific Rim Championships, Biles came home with the all-around title and had the highest score on vault (where she debuted a more difficult second vault), floor exercise (where she debuted a new floor routine), and balance beam. Additionally, the US came home with the team title by a wide margin. Biles did not compete in the event finals.
On June 4, Biles competed at the Secret US Classic, on the uneven bars and beam. She did not compete vault or floor exercise. She achieved the highest score on beam, a 15.650, and also received a 15.1 on bars, good enough for 5th in the event.
In the following weeks, Biles competed at the 2016 USA Gymnastics National Championships. Her vault and floor routines all received marks of at least sixteen all four times, and she received the national titles of both, respectively. On bars, she scored 14.750 and an average of 14.925, just shy of a 15 average, and a bronze for the event. On beam she again did very well, with very minor struggles on Day 2, again winning another medal. She won the all-around title by a wide margin of 3.9 points over Aly Raisman. Her two-day total was 125 points even, with an all-around average of 62.5 points.
On July 10, Biles was named to the team for the 2016 Olympics, alongside Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian and Aly Raisman.
In September 2016, Biles' medical information was released following the Russian cyber espionage group Fancy Bear's hack into the World Anti Doping Agency. Biles then disclosed on Twitter that she has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and was permitted to take medication for it, having applied for and received a Therapeutic Use Exemption.
In 2016 she was chosen as one of BBC's 100 Women, and as the 2016 espnW IMPACT25 Woman of the Year. She was also one of the finalists for Time magazine's 2016 Person of the Year. Biles was also nominated for a 2016 ESPY award for Best Female Athlete along with Elena Delle Donne, Katie Ledecky, and Breanna Stewart; Stewart won the award.
2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics
Biles appeared with gymnasts Dominique Dawes and Nadia Comăneci in a commercial for Tide called "The Evolution of Power" prior to the 2016 Summer Olympics.
On August 7, Biles competed in the Women's Qualification at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She scored a 16.050 on the vault, a 15.000 on the uneven bars, a 15.633 on the balance beam, and a 15.733 on the floor exercise. Along with the team final, she individually qualified into the all-around, vault, balance beam, and floor exercise finals. On August 9, Biles won her first Olympic gold medal in the gymnastics team event. She also won the gold medal individual all-around on August 11, with teammate Aly Raisman winning the silver and Russia's Aliya Mustafina claiming the bronze. Biles had a total score of 62.198 with 15.866 on the vault, 14.966 on the uneven bars, 15.433 on the balance beam, and 15.933 on the floor. Biles had the highest scores on vault, balance beam, and floor; she had the only score over 15 on balance beam in the finals. In the women's vault, she won her second individual gold medal with a score of 15.966, more than 0.7 points ahead of second-place finisher Maria Paseka of Russia and third-place finisher Giulia Steingruber of Switzerland. In the women's balance beam final, she grabbed the beam, scoring a 14.733. Despite her mistake, wobbly routines from France's Marine Boyer, Brazil's Flavia Saraiva, China's Fan Yilin, Romania's Catalina Ponor, and Canadian Isabela Onyshko allowed her to grab bronze behind teammate Laurie Hernandez who won silver and Sanne Wevers of the Netherlands. In the women's floor exercise final, she won gold with a score of 15.966. Teammate Aly Raisman won silver with a score of 15.500 and Amy Tinkler of Great Britain won bronze. She contributed to an historic feat for the gymnastics team, with USA claiming a medal on every event for the first time since 1984.
With four Olympic gold medals, Biles set a new American record for most gold medals in women’s gymnastics at a single Games, and equalled a number of other records with her medals won in Rio. Biles' win of four gold medals was the first instance of a quadruple gold medallist in women's gymnastics at a single Games since Ecaterina Szabo (Romania) in 1984, and the fifth overall, after Larisa Latynina (USSR, 1956), Agnes Keleti ( HUN, 1956), Věra Čáslavská (CZE, 1968) and Szabo. Biles became the sixth female gymnast to have won an individual all-around title at both the World Championships and the Olympic Games; the others being Larisa Latynina, Věra Čáslavská, Ludmilla Tourischeva, Elena Shushunova and Lilia Podkopayeva. Biles is the first female gymnast since Lilia Podkopayeva (UKR) in 1996 to win the all around gold as well as an event final gold, and the first female gymnast since Podkopayeva to win the Olympic all around title while holding the World and European/American individual all around titles. Biles joins Latynina (1956–1960), Čáslavská (1964–1968) and Tourischeva (1968–1972), as the fourth female gymnast to win every major all-around title in an Olympic cycle.
Biles now joins Mary Lou Retton in 1984, Shannon Miller in 1992 and Nastia Liukin in 2008 in winning five medals at a single Olympic Games, along with Szabo (ROM, 1984), Nadia Comaneci (ROM, 1976) and Karin Janz (East Germany, 1972). Olga Mostepanova (USSR) also won five gold medals at the Alternate Olympics in 1984. The overall record for most women's Olympic gymnastics medals at a single games (majority gold), remains six medals (Latynina, 1956, 1960 and 1964, Keleti, 1956, Caslavska, 1968, Daniela Silivas, 1988).
Biles and her teammate Gabby Douglas are the only American female gymnasts to win both the individual all-around gold and team gold at the same Olympic games. Douglas won both in the 2012 London games.
She was chosen by Team USA to be the flag bearer for the closing ceremonies. She was the first American female gymnast to be given the honor.
Competitive history

Not really an ask, just wanted to rant somewhere, sorry
Gonna remind you all that Jungkook posted the "Jimin hyung's broad smile" selca on July, 14th KST which is widely celebrated among Korean couples as a promise to love each other forever. It's called Silver Day btw, often celebrated by in-person parental introduction and future|marriage plans. Jungkook was the one who posted it. Out of all members. The inactive Jungkook. And on top of it all this jikook selca was the first non-solo selca of Jungkook on weverse.
Today, March, 14th, is another day which is widely celebrated among couples. It's called White Day and implies that men should give their baes a gift - often in the color white. The jikook photo Jimin posted on IG is the first non-solo photo Jimin posted on IG. The inactive Jimin.
Considering how romantic they both are, well...
Love your rant.
It made me go do a little research about these special days we don't really celebrate, finding this interesting post:
From now on I am definitely going to be looking out for every 14th of the month, lol.
14th July 2019 is indeed Silver day. A day lovers present each other with silver rings or accesories and make promises of loving each other forever.
JK's post 14 July 2019.

"Jimin hyung's broad smile".
The way I see it JM ain't the only one with a broad smile on their face, lol.
And now we have JM's 14 March 2022 IG post, yes, on White day.
Tumblr media
Ok, so I went looking for more selfies posted on important days, but I'm kind of shit at finding old Twitter posts, so if they are out there, feel free to add them on.

Heading out
I will be out of the office for a few days to go to Houston to catch a ballgame: Astros v Yankees, so I am just checking in before I head out and of course there’s a lot of random stuff going on...
Yoga session here on Facebook.
Tumblr media
What exactly does this mean? Current status/situation? Is Tae in Hawaii playing golf with the person in that other photo in the series he posted on IG?
Tumblr media
Hobi conducting a listening party on StationHead...
Tumblr media
Benny Blanco...what the hell is all this?
Tumblr media
And about those bracelets...as someone with very small wrists and who has trouble just buying any bracelet off the rack because they just fall off my hand...
Tumblr media
I would venture to say these are two different bracelets since we know the size difference between Jungkook’s wrist and Jimin’s.  Also...July 14 was Silver Day in South Korea...the couples day where you exchange silver rings or silver jewelry...just puttin’ that out there.
And I don’t know what else I missed while I slept. I will be keeping tabs but probably not posting much for a few days so y’all be good while I’m gone.

Couples days in Korea
Tumblr media
Ok, I was today years old when I learned this new thing about couples culture in South Korea. Not just February 14, Valentines Day, and White Day, March 14 but the 14th of EVERY month is a day celebrated by (almost exclusively) couples. There are exceptions: April 14, Black Day, is for single people to celebrate their chronic flying solo and June 14, Kiss Day, which originally began as a couples makeout session day thing now has evolved into a “let’s-kiss-everyone-day!”
And besides the 14th of every month, there is Christmas Day, which is very couply in Korea as well as 100 Days--self explanatory as the 100th day of a couple being together. Also there is Pepero Day, which is a couples day. I had no idea. So humor me here in case I am late to the party because these are awesome and these are very brief descriptions of each:
January 14: Diary Day when partners buy each other planners (or journals) for the year.
Tumblr media
February 14: Valentines Day when the women splurge on their partner.
March 14: White Day when the men return the favor to their partner.
April 14: Black Day originally for singles to drown their sorrows but now usually a day to celebrate one’s independence by feasting on black bean noodles.
May 14: Rose Day/Yellow Day involves flowers and dressing alike.
Tumblr media
June 14: Kiss Day...typically kissing in public is frowned upon in Korea but on Kiss Day, everyone gets a free pass and can lock lips without being chastised.
July 14: Silver Day is the day to exchange silver rings to signify commitment.
Tumblr media
August 14: Green Day involves being out in the great outdoors and lots of soju.
Tumblr media
September 14: Photo/Music Day encompasses noraebang (karaoke) and photo-taking.
Tumblr media
October 14: Wine Day is pretty self-explanatory.
Tumblr media
November 11 (November has an extra day devoted to couples): Pepero Day in which much chocolate dipped cookie sticks are consumed and supposedly wishes come true if eaten at exactly 11:11 on 11/11.
November 14: Movie Day is a good excuse to snuggle with your significant other and watch a good movie at the theater or at home.
December 14: Hug Day/Sock Day just sounds like an excuse for hosiery companies to make money.
Tumblr media
There you have it. Of course all of this smacks of commercialism (hello greeting card companies, I’m looking at you...) so it makes perfect sense now that there is so much geared toward couples in Korea.
So, that being said, that shines a new and brighter magnifying glass on my Jimin/Jungkook studies. Things that just floated over my head previously will now get a new examination...
I feel so enlightened. Sorry for my ignorance all this time. Someone should have told me!
