Creations by Proctors— sentient ones,— are called constructs. If consctructs are left to their own devices for too long, they can find cracks in their world, little hints that nothing they know is real. This awakening brings them into a state called “conscious”. Conscious constructs can still be kept docile, but if they are left alone even still, they can ascend.

Proctors are the race of beings created by The Essence of Divine Art. Proctors, when telling their stories, can create two kinds of people— constructs, which are sentient and have a role in the story, and fillers, which have no sentience and are shells of people, created for just what their name suggests— to fill the story and make it feel more alive.

Constructs, when they ascend, are exposed to the expansive knowledge granted to all Proctors. This drives them a little mad, tearing holes in reality and gaining abilities similar to Proctors. That gives them their proctor names, such as how Julian became The Timekeeper, and Stanley became The Gamemaster.

To put it simply, The Ascended are anomalies.

When Cricket was sent out into the Paraverse/Narratorverse, both Stanley and TK were left behind. Stanley was conscious, but not yet ascended, and TK was ascended already, from his extensive time stuck in the original GMod map.

Timekeeper forcibly exposed Stanley to The Great Archives, the collection of all knowledge in the universe, from its conception to all that will be. Predictably, this almost broke him. Usually, The Ascended are only exposed to a fraction, but Stanley was shown all of it.

Stanley became one with the Parable, and is now the one with the most control over it. This is what gave him his title of Gamemaster.

It is entirely possible that Stanley is the strongest of The Ascended as of now.

How do you feel about Stanley? Would you say you’re friends with him, or just a buddy you can chat with? And how do you think The Narrator feels about you talking to him?
