When I say, I love you, it’s not because I want you or because I can’t have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I’ve seen your kindness and your strength. I’ve seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are.

Just read a quote by Joss Whedon (an old one from the Buffy era) complaining that people don’t like it when fictional characters have happy and healthy relationships. And it’s like oh, honey, do people not like that, or are you just bad at writing it?

In hindsight, SMG is owed a big apology for how she was treated on Buffy.
IIRC, partly why the Faith spin off never happened after Buffy ended was Gellar flat out asked Dushku if she really wanted to deal with Joss for the next few years of her life.

no one talks about how the main plot driver for season two of buffy the vampire slayer is that angel genuinely got the soul fucked out of him by buffy. like. that’s what happened. im generalizing a little bit but literally the sex was so good it made him the happiest he’d ever been and his soul fell out as a result. pussy so good it makes you evil. and you as the viewer are supposed to take this seriously. “erm well technically he was just so happy being with buffy-” ok well then the post nut clarity knocked his soul out. still hilarious. check mate.

funny how the good omens fandom who was so vocal against hp peeps and kept telling them how morally bankrupt they were for still liking hp (i'm explicitly talking about hp fans who openly denounced jkr while still liking hp) and how they should just die... are now quite eager to continue their love for good omens uninterrupted, while simply denouncing gaiman or refusing to speak about him whatsoever. or worse, pretending like the book was always only pratchett's baby (it wasn't, and your money is still going to ng).
before, it was: if you engage in any way or give [shitty author] visibility or your money, you're the worst of the worst and will go to hell. but suddenly now it's all about nuance and separation between author and text, death of the author etc., uh
like, i love good omens and hope to see a s3 and that they fucking fire gaiman, so this isn't about that. could've been any other fandom, too - it happened with early marvel peeps and whedon, for instance - my point is simply
something something it's easier to be on a high horse when it's not a fandom you're in. something something making an entire fandom your personality is dangerous. something something you don't know these people (authors, actors, writers) so don't put them on a fucking pedestal

Without even touching on the abuse or misogyny, Joss Whedon's career would still be notable for how quickly he went from "daring subversive young upstart auteur" to "literally the sin-eater for all generic corporate action blockbusters'
