CATCHING MY BREATH, STARING OUT AN OPEN WINDOW

Patrick Galanis is based on Panic from Hercules. He is a 24 year old shapeshifter, funeral home employee, and uses he/they pronouns. He has the power of shapeshifting. Patrick is portrayed by Jonathan Daviss and he is open.

CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE

In childhood, Patrick felt like he was the luckiest kid in the world. He had two parents that loved him, he did well in school, and life seemed good. One night while driving home from the science fair with his parents he fell asleep next to his first place trophy and he was jolted awake by the car being flung off the road after losing traction during a rain storm. After that night Patrick was more afraid of the world, seeing it differently than they had before. He lived in fear of most things and kept to himself for that reason. Getting close to people felt too easy to lose but once he saw his roommate at the foster house shapeshift while going to sneak out that changed. Patrick had known since he could talk that he was like this, his parents saying it was something he got from his grandfather and that they weren’t like him. A part of them hates it about themselves, wondering if they were a human if they would’ve died with their parents. Parker helped to change that and it was something that connected them, though he didn’t approve of what his friend always did with it. While Parker was doing illegal activity Patrick was trying to make something of himself, studying to becoming a doctor to save the lives like his parents. It paid off when after he aged out of foster care he got a scholarship to go study to school to study medicine and his friend was sure to follow. With that they were able to go start a life of their own but it was soon to come to a close. One night when Parker was driving them to hangout with some of the friends they’d newly made through Patrick’s classes he asked his friend to make a pitstop. Patrick knew it was something illegal but after finding out his friend wouldn’t make rent without it, he reluctantly agreed. After that everything happened so fast and before he knew it a gun had gone off, leaving the man they were meeting dead in front of them. He was in a panic and trying to stay calm in the passengers seat while Parker drove them somewhere to “fix this” and that’s when he first met Hades. To make up for the soul that had been taken they had to give over their souls and while Parker was quick to agree it took some convincing for Patrick who eventually caved, not knowing any other way out of this. Their life changed forever after that as the two became Hades’ henchmen. After seeing so much death he started to worry what if he couldn’t save a life in his profession, about all the people he would fail, and eventually changed his major to something he couldn’t let anyone down, taking a job in the mortuary. They were just starting to adjust to their new life when they woke up in Evermore. Patrick’s memories are still in tact, as much as he wished they weren’t. He’s almost envious that Parker is able to forget some of the terrible things they’ve seen and done but he’d never tell him that. Now Patrick is doing all he can to live as close to a normal life as possible here, it wasn’t like they had anyone else to go back to in the outside world anyway.

❀ Violet Parr: He thinks she’s actually pretty awesome but he has no idea how to even begin talking to her. She’s quiet and he doesn’t know what he’d say to her in the first place. Maybe eventually he’ll get up the courage to ask her out. ❀ Megara Morales: Even though they met in less than ideal circumstances he does see Meg as part of his inner circle. Somehow they all get along pretty well for being henchmen of Hades. He cares about her now, wanting the best for her the same way he does Parker. ❀ Evelyn Quincy: Patrick is terrified of her, knowing she’s got to be bad news. Even though he might not know her well he doesn’t want to. If he’s learned anything working with Hades it’s how to spot someone that is dangerous and Evelyn has it written all over her.
