JOHN 5 BRACELETS : TAG 2 ELECTRIC BOOGALO
so we bought some new beads so therefore !!! update post ... now i have a plan to make all of John's albums eventually :]
JOHN ⛤
Tumblr media
so i finally got some letter beads which got me SO excited but turns out they had a very limited selection ... but i got enough letters to spell john which made me SO happy !!! and there's little stars that we bought which were so so cute.
INVASION
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is probably my favorite bracelet from this batch ... like i said in the last post, I wasn't quite sure what colors to go for with invasion but it all worked out perfectly, in my opinion ... this bracelet is very pretty to me
LIVE INVASION
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i adore live invasion it's SUCH a fun live album and i would love if john did more ... i struggled with the colors HEAVILY on this one and i think i redid it like three times before i settled on a pallette that i think worked. but when i finally settled on it i think it turned out GORGEOUS!!
REQUIEM
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i don't have that good of a selection of blue so side by side it definitely looks kinda off but on it's own i also really liked this one ??? requiem has such a nice color palette and i just love how john looks in the cover .... he's so fucking pretty i can't do this anymore !!!
SONGS FOR SANITY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
last but not least, we have songs for sanity, which was also kind of a request from someone who reblogged the original blog ... thank you for that by the way bc i think songs for sanity is ONE OF MY FAV JOHN 5 COVERS ??? i really like the positioning of john and the guitars ... it's just so sick .... the bracelet itself caused a slight trouble but in the end i like the final product :]
and here we have all of the bracelets together !! they're in order from release, bottom to top. 8/12 bracelets done

Kloktober, Day 5: Abigail Appreciation Day!
I wrote an Abigail story in 2012, pre-Doomstar Requiem/the end of season 4, about the dissolution of her relationship with Nathan, such that it was. I'm fascinated by her portrayal in Army of the Doomstar; I can't help but wonder whether her brief arc would have been handled the same way had AotD been able to be made sooner than a decade after the series' heyday. In general, AotD really hammers home the motif hinted at in DR of Dethklok having to step into their respective heroic roles by facing their egos.
Tumblr media
I'm sure part of the inspiration for how the Abigail storyline played out was the #MeToo movement, but I also wonder after Brendan Small and company's post-pandemic spiritual inclinations and question whether Dethklok would have been allowed/able to mature enough to step into said prophesied roles (and then some - Nathan essentially sacrifices himself to shut down the generator, and even Murderface chucking a snowball at Vater Orlaag so Charles can finish taking him out are above and beyond what they were 'meant' to do, and both actions took some massive cojones - what a shift from "How can I be a hero when my dick's as big as a shoe?" and such!) if the past decade hadn't ultimately shaken out the way it has.
Tumblr media
TL;DR: Army of the Doomstar was surprisingly sentimental (Toki feeling safe enough around his brothers to spend some time age-regressing! Pickles being the Band Mom! Murderface's entire arc! Skwisgaar's annoyance at having to look after Toki falling by the wayside the second Toki was in peril! Father Charles fcuking Offdensen!!!), and I was impressed by Nathan's ability to ultimately part with Abigail amicably, specifically because he seemed to recognize that he was using their alleged romance as a crutch to avoid dealing with bigger issues surrounding him.

hello (one of the) resident phannie data analyst(s) here with some parasocial stats on dnp’s movie tastes! following: distribution of dan and phil's ratings overall, movies they each rated 5 stars, their lowest-rated movies, and the similarities + differences in their tastes
(lore moment: yes i am a data analyst in my real job. yes i surprised myself with wanting to do this in my spare time. but then i remembered when we read dracula in college (yes i was an english major) and i graphed like, how many times dracula was referred to as vampire versus monster or something. so i shouldn’t be surprised.
first up, their overall rating patterns and by ~special status~ (i.e., wall-e, kill bill, avatar, lmao, plus big hero 6 for the fun of it)
dan’s rated 304 movies and phil’s rated 305. both of them have mean and median ratings of 4 with min 1 and max 5.
both rated kill bill vols. 1 and 2 a 5. wall-e got a 4.5 from dan and a 4 from phil (phake phans). both gave avatar a 3.5. and big hero 6 3.5 (dan) and 4.5 (phil)
rating distribution:
Tumblr media
i did analyses here by genre but i need to fix the output (i’m writing all of these based on the markdown document from my phone on the subway, but i need to fix the outputs and i don’t have my computer. so those are pending but there are other genre analyses that i could do & haven’t yet!)

5 Questions I've been pondering since reading the Parade mag article on JL
A couple weeks ago, I shared an article in Parade magazine that came out in early 2023 featuring John Larroquette. In the interview, they covered a lot of new info, in addition to promoting the new Night Court series, which was set to premiere its 1st season when the article was published.
Ever since reading that interview, I've had a few thoughts and a few questions that have stayed with me. And now I feel like the only way to exorcise these thoughts and questions from my mind is to share them here:
It seems like John and Elizabeth, his wife, relocated from California to southern Washington state shortly after the filming on The Librarians wrapped in 2017. (The article mentions they moved there 5 years ago, and 2023 minus 5 is 2018.) My question: Did they plan to move there regardless of whether or not the show got picked up for a 5th season? I know it's none of my business, and I can see JL fitting in with the area -- it is beautiful up there -- but I'm just curious was it to be closer to his then-job? Or was it just a new found appreciation for the Pacific Northwest?
In the article, he mentions a lot of his former cast mates had passed away over the years, including Harry Anderson, Charles Robinson, Markie Post, and Kirstie Alley. I can't help but notice that he once again didn't mention Richard Moss. My question: Does anyone know the story behind the two of them falling out? Is it mentioned anywhere? Or is it just hearsay? Why didn't they get along? I ask because I was/am a fan of them both, and it kind of sucks that they never reconciled before Richard passed away. [Upon re-reading this, I remembered that Richard was still alive when JL did that interview, so it makes sense that he didn't mention him in that context. But I still have those questions because I'm nosey. 😉]
They described how JL likes to spend his free time at home, and much of what they mentioned matches what we've heard in the past. But they also claimed that John likes to narrate plays in his home recording studio. My question: Is he narrating these for fun? Or is it for a job that he's been hired to do? And if it's the latter, are these audio recordings for sale? And if they are, where can we buy them?
He mentions his kids during the interview: Lisa, Jonathan and Ben. I know he worked with Ben on The John Larroquette Show when he was just 9 or 10 years old. And he's "technically" working with him now on the new Night Court. And he's worked with Jonathan on one of the McBride movies. I think Jonathan worked on the music for McBride: Requiem, which incidentally is my favorite of the McBride films. My question: Has he ever had an opportunity to work with his daughter Lisa? And if so, was it on an acting project that he was a part of like he did with his sons? I know she's a graphic designer, so that might be a little different than bringing on your sons to act or create music, but it would be nice to know if he's invited her to work with him in the past as well.
He acknowledged that he's lived a long and successful life for someone who grew up where he did and the culture he grew up in. I love these little tidbits and glimpses into his life, but of course, it begs My final question: Has anyone ever talked to him about writing an autobiography? Or would he ever consider someone else writing his biography for him?
OK. That's it.
Now my brain can return to its regularly scheduled program.

5 Songs I'm Into Right Now
Thank you so much for tagging me @tialinffxiv ! I finally have the time to do this now! 💙
Tumblr media
1. Gemini – Mon Amour
youtube
Gemini is such a great artist and I love him for a long time now. His voice is just so soft and at the same time can be so strong, I love the vibes of his songs so much! 💙
2. ID:Earth (아이디얼스) - ALARM
youtube
Found this sond randomly tbh, but her voice is sweet. The song itself is amazing, if you listen to the details put into it. Like in the refrain witch each line, the beat evolves more and more. With each refrain even. Its so well done! 💕
3. Alok & Daniel Blume - Rapture
youtube
I love the original already, was listening to it so much when I was younger! This version tho is really something. Besides the beat beeing more out there, the voice that is singing is so sensual and soft in contrast, makes me feel the emotions in another way! ❤️
4. Sickick - Windows
youtube
Since discovering this song I'm just in love with it. Beat, lyrics, the voice, everything is done so well, I listen to it on repeat and it never gets boring to me! 💙💙
5. John Summit - Human (ft. Echoes)
youtube
I love the lyrics. The lyrics are wonderful, in connection with the beat and the overall sound it is just a song that brings many feelings to me. Also listened to it in different emotional moments, so I somehow connect a lot with it! 🌻💙
Tumblr media

Statting Christof Romauld
Someone on Reddit asked if my favourite himbo had a canonical character sheet.
I looked him up in Clanbook: Brujah. He does not.
I felt compelled to stat him out in V5.
Now I kinda want to do the whole crew. I've been thinking about Dark Ages V5 for a while now and this is unlocking it all for me...
He's a swordsman, so a Melee combatant, so we're going for Dexterity 4 for that pool; 3s into Stamina, Resolve and Composure (say what you like about our favourite himbo, he can take a kicking), and the 1 in Intelligence (sorry, Christof, but if you weren't such a dim bulb you'd probably have gone insane).
For expediency's sake, and because he always has a supporting cast to cover his weaknesses, I'm gonna say he's a Specialist. Melee gets the 4 and the speciality, Athletics, Brawl and Firearms (which, RAW, covers archery) get 3s. 2s in Persuasion (he does get his own way a lot), Awareness and Stealth (there's a lot of corridor creeping in his adventures). For the 1s, I'm taking Investigation (he tries... and he's been through enough mysteries that he must be vaguely aware of how they work), Occult (he's seen some things in his time) and Etiquette (he's well spoken).
Disciplines? Let's start with Celerity 2 and Presence 1 (I don't know how I'd have got through the game without these two). For specific powers, I'm going Rapid Reflexes and Fleetness from Celerity, and Awe from Presence.
Into Predator Type, and I'm gonna be honest here, given how tricky it is to bite people in the streets without being caught, and how many other vampires there are in those "dungeons", and how often he frenzies and bites his own coterie: Christof is a Blood Leech. Extra specialty in Brawl vs Kindred, going to Celerity 3 and taking Weaving from the Players' Guide, leaning into the defensive applications, and obviously we're gonna take the Diablerist flaw because he ate Lucretia. Prey Exclusion (Mortals) is definitely a reflection of how I played Christof, too (goddamn Knights of St. John have eyes in the backs of their heads).
Advantages and Flaws: well, we're windmill slamming Archaic, of course (he's got the hang of guns, but he has no idea what a Central Computer might be). We're also gonna raid the Player's Guide again. For five points, we can take Untouchable - get away with doing something grand and stupid once per story. He's... definitely had that go off a few times during Redemption. From the same book, we can grab the Brujah Coterie Merit, Boot and Rally, for a bonus to his friends' combat rolls, and Remarkable Feature, because people do remark on all his thees and thous when they first meet him and then rapidly get used to it.
Convictions are probably derived from the Promethean ethic somehow (I'm bad at these), and his Touchstone is obviously Anezka (I have a house rule where you only need one Touchstone, like Requiem - and Redemption, now that I think about it).
Now, we get into experience. I'm going to count Christof as an ancilla here. He's lived a very storied life, the Clanbook leaves some wiggle room for how long his adventures took, he's quite low generation, and frankly I need the XP for his insane Discipline breadth. That takes his Humanity down to 5, his Blood Potency up to 3, and he needs another two points in Flaws - I'm going for another Player's Guide special, Twice Cursed, giving him an additional Clan Bane that causes physical and social damage when his Beast comes out.
He also gains another two points in Advantages, and I'm gonna pick up a Loresheet here: Sect War Veteran. He emerged from torpor right in the middle of the sect war, ended up fighting his way across New York, and he's made something of a name for himself among elders and neonates alike given what he got up to in the Dark Ages. The two dot ability here converts into Status or Mawla - one could very easily use this to model Ekaterina the Wise still looking out for him, or into his own personal clout, or... well, our Christof is at middling Humanity, so he might be... in a bit of a predicament. Spoilers for twenty-five year old game?
Finally, there's the 35 bonus XP. To start off, taking him to Presence 3, Daunt and Dread Gaze, that's 25 burned. With the remaining 10, I'm going to buy a dot in Protean (the game is very generous about handing out Protean) and pick up Eyes of the Serpent, since he did eat a whole-ass Setite, and the last three are going on the Stealth (vs Kindred) specialty from his Predator Type, just to really double down on the in-game playstyle.
And there we are - playable Christof!

6 songs on repeat
Got tagged by the lovely @jakegyllinhaal to share my current musical obsessions (and luckily my on repeat playlist got updated recently)
1. Diplomacia by Alice Caymmi (I’m a sucker for Brazilian music – doubly, if it’s a slow tango)
2. …à la Duduki by Giya Kancheli (because nobody does shattering existential horror in music like Maestro Kancheli)
3. Glory by John Kander and Fred Ebb, performed by Ben Vereen (I much prefer the more sinister arrangement on the original cast recording than the revival one, despite it having the complete play-off)
4. Post Break-Up Sex by The Vaccines (goes well with my recent return to instant photography)
5. Space Monkey by Placebo (my usual late night song, blame one late ride on a bus)
6. Cinema by Giya Kancheli, performed by Guy Klucevsek (quasi un requiem)
While I don’t impose participating, it would be lovely to see the choices of @fanfrelon @kitc0nn0r @poozy3d @willworkfornudes @benedictusantonius @slowgravity @soulofayoungman @sweetah-than-a-swishah @theprivatecapote

Homestuck Daily - Week 4/End of Month 1 - 5/11/2024
Today marks the end of the first month of my real time Homestuck reread. If my math is correct (and that is a big if), I have 83 months of reading Homestuck left. Based on some more math, I first read Homestuck roughly 50 months ago. I don't know what point I am making with this, except for the fact that time is long and strange.
If I am being honest, I am finding it a hard time to write this update, because it feels like basically nothing happened this entire week. It probably doesn't help that I've been playing Hades 2, an extremely fun and good game, all week. So everything I have to say about this week of Homestuck is colored by an implicit "And I read this instead of playing Hades 2 in that exact moment." Hell, I could be playing Hades 2 right now, but I am writing this instead.
In case you haven't noticed, dear reader that definitely exists, I don't exactly know what I'm doing with this one here. I know, after I worked so hard on developing a strict and rewarding format these past few weeks, I'm throwing it all away to ramble here and now. The thing you need to know about me, though, is that I make terrible decisions. Always have, always will. I promise I'll get to a point, but we'll get there on my own time.
Where was I. Oh right. 50 months ago. Valentines Day 2020. That was the day I began my first Homestuck read through. My girlfriend at the time- she would break up with me a few months later for non-Homestuck related reasons- was a Homestuck fan, and had tried and failed to convince me to read the comic before. We even spent a date night playing friend sim, which I tried my best not to be confused by. Well, Valentines day came, and I decided I would finally relent to my girlfriend's recommendation, and I spent the day reading Homestuck in my college dorm room. And when I started, I did not stop. Not for a long time. You see, it was a Friday, a Friday very early in the semester, in fact. I had nothing I needed to do and 3 whole days where I did not need to treat myself as a human being. I denied myself food, water, sleep, and human dignity as I read Homestuck, all the while texting my girlfriend my reactions. I think the only time I took a break that weekend was on Saturday, to play in a Vampire the Requiem game I had recently joined. I don't know exactly how far through Homestuck I had gotten when I attended the game- but it was further than a person should be less than 24 hours after starting the webcomic.
Which brings me to my point. How quickly into my binge did I get to the parts of this comic that has now taken me a month to reach? An hour? Less than that? I don't know and am unwilling to do the work to find that out. I don't think I had gone all-in on Homestuck at this point, but I do remember being entertained by the Sylladex fuckery that was going on. I found it intriguing, this little puzzle of mechanics, the audience and John struggling against an unintuitive game mechanic that refused to make things easy. That was 50 months ago. So far on my read through, all I really feel as I get to each new gag about Sylladexes is "Oh, today is just this, huh." A part of me is sad and disappointed these gags aren't landing for me in the way they once had. A part of me is worried what else in this comic will suffer with the addition of time. But then I got to the last page of this week's updates, page 137, a loading animation for SBURB set to Sburban Jungle by Michael Guy Bowman, and that worry melts away.
Sburban Jungle is a song that lights my imagination ablaze with visions of epic machinations. I am the kind of person who listens to music not just because I like a song, but because that song puts images in my head that I can't tear myself from exploring as fully as I can. Even back when I was a kid in highschool, I would spend my bus rides home listing to my ipod, imagining grand adventures and fantastic scenes set to whatever music I was listening to. Sburban Jungle brings me back to those days, I think. That feeling that I find so hard to describe right now is part of why I love Homestuck, I think. It is a story about 4 kids, friends, playing a game together. A game where anything can be possible. A game where music brings actions scenes of epic and mythical scale- like the kind I would think about on the bus ride home- to life. That game hasn't started yet, we are still playing a game I'd like to call "Inventory Management if the Inventory Management hated you". But we'll get there eventually.
I have read Homestuck in realtime for 1 month. I will continue this for 83 more months. There'll be many months where I read nothing, and I'll need to think up something to post during those weeks. There'll be months where I'll struggle to keep everything I want to discuss in individual coherent posts. Homestuck is a land of contrasts, and I am going to experience those contrasts in the fullness of time's length. This is a terrible idea, but those are my favorite kinds.
Now that this is written and done with, time to play some more Hades 2.

(tagged by @occultwhiskers/@haggstroem (ty ^^!)) 5 most listened to songs lately !!! (In no particular order ) :
Rose by McLoud ( self described as a lithuanian rock band (although me and several others would place them somewhere closer to metal) ! Been picking at and discovering their discography lately. A lot of their songs are really energetic (a little less so with songs like "Aperol Spritz") and kinda very yell-ey at points (fun!). I've been listening to a couple songs from them on repeat "Rose" being among them!
Žvaigždės kartais krenta by FOJE [spotify / yt(live ver.)] ( found this while going through an unofficial archive channel for the band. I really like the lyrics (like a lot of their other songs) (although "Laužo šviesa" [yt] will still remain a classic from them at least to me) )
In the House - In a Heartbeat by John Murphy (from the "28 days later" soundtrack! I watched the movie sometime in winter and really enjoyed it! The soundtrack especially made an impression on me, I've kept returning to this song (instrumental?) (as well as "Frank's Death - Soldiers (Requiem in D Minor)") ever since )
Bøn fra helvete by Kaizers Orchestra ( The album ("Ompa til du dør") has been in my rotation for years now. Lately I've been trying to clear my palette (ig???) after listening to two of my playlists non-stop and listening to this album (among other things). Many good songs on this album but "Bøn fra helvete" is probably my favorite at the moment (though I still hold "Fra sjåfør til passasjer" dearly)
Geri vyrai by Vytautas Kernagis (a very silly song about a lithuanian tongue twister >:)c Also the one I'd recommend to give a listen to the most out of my selection!!! (it's very fun, I promise /gen !) I found it while I was walking and listening to Kernagis' discography on shuffle and got absolute whiplash not only due to going from one of his more melancholic sung poetry ones to not one of his silly songs, but a silly song with some english lyrics??? It's been stuck in my head like an earworm (send help (don't)/j)
tagging @nitromethane @amethyst-cave and anyone else who may want to do this as well ! (no pressure ofc ^^)

🛡🥊
🛡️: Oh, that's gotta be the MJOLNIR Mark VI MOD and MJOLNIR GEN2 Mark VI MOD (or: John's armour in Halo 4 & Halo 5, respectively). To me, it's. It's the armour. Design-wise, it looks how the Spartans are described in the books. Tall. Powerful. Physically imposing. Encased head to toe in hi-tech armour that, while looking somewhat robotic, also really does look like some kind of expensive, ODST-esque prototype in the same breath.
It's beautiful.
Although, I'm not too proud to admit that I sincerely wish the GEN2 Mk VI MOD possessed a codpiece. It looks hella silly without it lol.
🥊: Probably Del Rio, if anyone 😂 Fuckin paper mache-lookin face asshole. How daaaaaare you abandon John and Cortana on Requiem you absolute buffoon. No wonder the brass kicked you from your post and promoted Lasky in your place (who's 10x as likable and 5x as capable & competent).

Top 5 Columbo Villains
I'm only midway thru s3 in this dedicated watch, so...
Lee Grant in Ransom For A Dead Man She's methodical, hard-edged, and very capable. I love how the very lack of empathy that allowed her to carry out such a murder is the thing that trips her up in the end and that Columbo explicitly states that.
Leonard Nimoy in A Stitch In Crime A doctor so it's even worse that he's willing to killing. He's so confident and devious, but willing to fake concern, but also has a big ego. And his voice and hair. Um Leonard Nimoy hot.
Roddy McDowall in Short Fuse Those tight whorey powder-blue pants; a fruity rascal.
Anne Baxter in Requiem for a Falling Star The artifice of superficiality of her glamour. How immediately she drops the act and goes into business-mode when she's alone.
John Cassavetes in Etude In Black I wish I had something to say but I skipped this episode on my current watch because I'd seen it a while back and wanted to skip episodes I was relatively fresh on. But apparently not fresh enough to remember much about him!
